In this episode the crew talks about some of the scouting strategies they’ve been using so far this year. With the weather transitioning from heavy moisture to a hot dry summer, it’s an interesting year for big game behavior. We also bring in a special snack for Cache Lynn, who has never had a Vienna Sausage in his life.

You are listening to the Epic Outdoors Podcast. Check us [email protected]. Hey everybody, Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, the out epic outdoors crew. Almost the entire crew missing old Wild Bulls, although I think we should bug him on vacation. What do you guys think? Absolutely. Nobody here gets a vacation. No question. Without being bugged a little bit. He’s dumb enough to dance or he begging yesterday to be called in. Are he guys sure you don’t need me? I think so. Although he is having the time of his life and wouldn’t be anywhere else. No, he loves Lake Powell. Yeah, he does. Wyatt lives for Lake Powell. Yeah, right. I know his wife does. And this is his son’s first trip there. So it’s kind of special case. Wyatt? Yeah. In the VRBO. Do you think we should have be? I think we should have best. Right? We probably shouldn’t have had your number calling him, but we’ll see if he answers. Oh, he, Hey. Hey. What are you doing? Any work emergencies real or made up? No. Okay. So they’re all made up. They’re all emergencies, but, but we are, we are hauling heavy load without you. Are you, are you under the ac I am on the beach of Lake Powell. You’re on the beach. It’s 3 27. It’s 102 degrees. Degrees wt. Oh, it’s 102 out there for sure. I thought you had other arrangements made down there that may or may not have been received.

00:01:29:20 –> 00:02:52:08
Well, within the in-laws, I, I do have an Airbnb. Did that go against protocol? The tradition? The tradition, the family tradition? Most definitely. Yeah. But, but, but they’re enjoying it. Yes. You’re gonna change tradition around that place. I like it. Have you, have you taken, taken case wakeboarding yet? Wyatt? He is not a water person. He’s more like a cat. Really? Doesn’t even like to take a bath, huh? Well, he likes the bathtub, that’s for sure. He just doesn’t like this wake here. No. Really? How does he takes after his dad? How does he know that it’s different though? He gets that from his dad. So, let’s see. Have you been on the water a little bit? We have, yeah, we few. That’s awesome. Decent runs. It’s a little windy or wind windier today, but yeah. Good. We’ll go do some tubing in a bit. Probably. What about fishing? What? Any fishing or They don’t No fishing. Is that out? Is that kind of like off limits too? On a family play trip at Lake Powell? Is that Yeah. I, I don’t believe there’s any fishing rods. No hooks in the, no hooks in the boat. Geez. Well, I guess you can have bananas on the boat then if you don’t got fos. Why? You know, you’re supposed to take this, what is it, Bronson? It’s like a boat test to go through and talk about AGAs and stuff. Coga muscles and stuff.

00:02:52:08 –> 00:04:01:09
Do you guys have that? You gotta display it in the boat. They can pull, pull you over and seize the boat. I’m sure why it’s taken that. Yeah, I, I did take that, that test. You, you did. I did. Yeah. I was down there and I didn’t even know you had to do that, so I came home and took it. Yeah, no, I, I took that a week or so ago on my phone. He doesn’t miss anything. Do you? So you don’t miss anything, do you, if you’re a, if you’re an occupant in a boat, do you have to take it W or were you the captain of the boat? What, what made you take it? Even paddle boarders. Like paddle boarders? Yes. Canoers. Kayakers. Yeah. Kayakers. Anyhow. Have to take this te a test. And you have those, do you, are you doing that? Are you paddleboard over? I I am paddle board certified if I need to be. Whoa. Can you give somebody, can you re resuscitate somebody? Oh yeah. I, I’m CPR certified too. I mean, I’m a jack of all trades. Wow. Why? It’s a big deal. Indeed. I mean, I didn’t go through the Adam Bronson Glen Canyon course. Are you a firefighter? Yeah. Let’s leave that off the table for a little bit while you still working on some stuff. Can you fight fires? I probably could. I mean, shoot. You just take water to fly calling some aircraft.

00:04:01:13 –> 00:05:13:28
He’s a big deal. That’s right. He’s a big deal. Alright, well, what are we gonna ask Wyatt today? I don’t know. Just what he’s excited about, what this year’s bringing to him. What kind of year he thinks it’s gonna be. We, we just teed this off, Wyatt. So Devin said, let’s just let Wyatt take it and we’ll run with it and maybe kind of direct where this podcast needs to go direct. Oh, I think it’s gonna be a pretty good year if everything doesn’t burn here in Utah. Okay. Yeah, we do need some rain. There’s some, I mean, it’s, it’s amazingly green though, out there. It still, it really is. It’s powder dry. The roads are powder. It’s, but the vegetation is green still. I mean, it’s, well, it is. Some lot of, I don’t know where you’re hanging. Well, you, you hunt moonscape. It’s crap crap. But I was at like bitter brush and stuff. There was you guys. You guys are crazy. Yeah, I, I did. You guys are in the Garden of Eden. Well, no, you’re, you’re in, you’re crap. I I know you’re going to places where stuff doesn’t even live. It’s true. And you’re hoping to find something alive. I know. I’m sick of it. I’m, I’m already giving up. Whoa. Hey, I’m already giving up Wyatt. I don’t know. Thanks Wendy. Wendy brought a little So, job, Wendy. Good job. Wyatt.

00:05:13:28 –> 00:06:19:10
Wyatt, you’d give up if you were me too, right? Already pulling the plug. I mean, deserts are hot as can be right now. Yeah. Lake files hot as now. So hot. So hot. But you supposed to get record highs the next couple days or something. You’re having a good time though. Yeah, it’s a good time. Yeah, for sure. Hey Wyatt, you’re gonna be the Grand Marshall at the U Stampede again? Yeah. For like the fourth year in a row. Yeah. They, they haven’t inducted me as a Grand Marshall yet, or whatever they call it. How do you get to be the Grand Marshall though? You gotta be a big deal. Yeah. Why? Wyatt? Are you a big deal in qualified? Well, I think once you move away from the town, you lose status of Grand Marshall. They don’t call. Yeah, but you’re, you’re a legend. Big league. Gotta stay, be a super senior. Never leave. There you go. Yeah. You’re gonna be a hundred, 105 and six there the next couple of days. Are you going back to the big stampede or is that a source? I won’t be at the Stampede this weekend. Yep. All right. When are you gonna scout? The chosen one is returning to the promised land. Wow. Coming back. Need to get scouting as well. What family stuff left and right? Social, social interactions. Yeah.

00:06:19:15 –> 00:07:33:16
I’m not sure how you older boys manage, you know, staying married kids and all your scouting. ’cause we just told ’em the way it was. Wyatt. We’ll just, we’ll just keep it real. We’ll grab, keep it real by the skin of our kids. Go grab. We’re dang lucky to be married still Wyatt. And now once you get over the hump and you’re, we’ll see if Jan allows you to keep that comment in this podcast or not. Whatever she does. If she does, in fact, go grab Carly. We’ll talk with her real quick. All trust us. If I die, I die. Well, well, all right. Well you think it’s gonna be a good year? That’s when are you gonna scout? When are you gonna start gonna be, when do you think we should start scouting? You guys have been hitting the hard Well we have, but I mean, it still feels like we’ve all gotta have, you know, something. Something gotta happen to get us real excited. ’cause a lot of, I need to see antler growth above the ears. Yeah, exactly. That would be nice. It seems slow out west. We’re we’re starting earlier and earlier this year. I have a kind of excuse. I could have started earlier ’cause I’m leaving, but I’m, I’m less impressed. But, but it’s already July, so I’m just, anyway. Yeah, it’s gonna happen. It’d be just a lot of might be could be posse type stuff that I’m seeing.

00:07:33:22 –> 00:08:53:21
Are you in a chair, Wyatt? Oh, I’m just kind of combing the beach right here. Walking around talking to you guys. You’re combing, you got a metal detector in your head? I actually just had finished up lunch when you called. What did you have for lunch? Just a sandwich. I’m, I’m glad you got to y Yeah, that’s at three o’clock, man. Three 30. You’re pushing it. Yeah. Yeah. It’s almost dinner time for most people. You snuck up to Yardleys twice, haven’t ya? When they weren’t looking. The Airbnbs right behind Yardleys. It’s pretty Hey used. You’ve probably stayed in the same one we stayed at. They’re nice. It’s pretty convenient. Yeah, they’re nice. They’re nice. Yeah, they’re nice. They’re awesome. Well, awesome. Alright, well have you got any scouting tips for, for people? Wyatt? Like what are you gonna do? You’re gonna be scrambling, obviously. You’re gonna start late. Gonna be scrambling. Yep. Starting late. Just get out there and do it. That’s kind of the biggest, biggest tip I have. Alright, alright. Alright. Well that’s a hell of a hell of a good tip there. That’s all we got. Hey, Nike already took that one. Just do it. You gotta come up with an og. Come on. Original state statement. I agree with wa. Just do it. Yeah, he just gotta get out there. All right, well, all right. Well, all right. Keeping the shade, somehow, Wyatt, keeping the shade. That’s, I mean, keep hydrated.

00:08:53:21 –> 00:10:02:27
If you get, so, if you get so sunburnt, then you can’t throw a pack on and start scouting next week when you’re back, back at it. So keep those things. You don’t also put sunscreen on the top of your feet. ’cause when you lace your boots on tight and you’ve got sunburnt feet, that burn hurts at the top of my feet. It hurts. Yeah. I’ve been, been keeping the feet all lathered up. I, I’ve had that problem before. Yes. All right. Well those are just from experience. We’ve all had to live through that. But anyway, good luck. How about Casey? You got a, you, you wear a speedo down there? What? Yeah. Trying to get a good feel. What? I barely wear shorts. Can imagine what your wearing a speedo. You talking barely on the long end or the short end. Do you have a long sleeve shirt on or a short sleeve or a wife beater? What do you got? I’m envisioning a tank top. Are you in a tank? No. No. Tank tops. What are you, whatcha wearing? I just got me a pair of shorts on board. Shorts and a some little lightweight shirt. There you go. Yeah. Well, all right. All right. Well have fun Wyatt. Okay. Sounds good. We’ll tell you boys later. Say hey, say hey to Case and, and just do it. Yeah, that’s what we’ll do. Alright. Talk to you later. Bye.

00:10:03:12 –> 00:11:20:15
Do you think lightweight shirt means fishnet? See, we should have told him to tell Take a self. He had sent it to us. He wouldn’t do it. Guarantee you he wouldn’t do. Heck no. Heck no. Not a chance. He ain’t getting melanoma. And it’d probably give away the good spot on Lone Rock Beach where it’s at. So swar by, by the in-laws where the background. Well, you’re right by your, yeah, you’re right by yourself on the nice little quaint spot. So funny. 17.2 feet from the next person. He’s great. Just do it. That’s my Just get out. Just get out there and do it. Alright, so where are we going next, Bronson? What are we doing with this thing? Well, let’s elaborate a little bit. I guess everybody’s kind of, you know, if you’re scouting Nevada, you’re scouting Utah. You’ve got about 11 days ahead of you to run your cameras, pull your cameras, service ’em, you know, hopefully find something. But I think this is gonna be a, a year in No, these two states where, I mean that that date’s coming right upon us. Yeah. Fast. Well, last night I was out up, we were out running cameras for Elk for Justin, and it’s one of the few nights that he had available and he got to talking about kind of traditions and family and some of the stuff we used to do, a lot of it revolved around the trap line.

00:11:20:19 –> 00:12:21:16
The truck camera. Truck camera trap line. Yeah. And he’s like, and he said, those are the absolute best days of my life. Like, and I’m like, geez man, we kinda, well, and you’re like, this is a grind. But yeah, I’m glad drew the truck. Well, you do like ’em. Like there was, I’m like, man, I wish we would’ve brought a rifle with, I mean there was little critters that you need to die everywhere. Yeah. And I’ve seen coyotes plenty of times and I haven’t had a gun. Yeah. And anyway, but it just reminds you like just being out running cameras, it’s more than just the camera. Like there was, it was a lot of family time Yeah. With me and the kids doing that, you know what I mean? And anyway, you kind of, to have a shortened to have this little season we got is is frustrating. But you know, it’s kind of the times we live in. We’ve, you know, talked a lot about times are changing hunting, hunting’s changing. Well, it is a scouting’s changed and, and it, you’re gonna have to rely a lot more on, on good old fashioned Glasson glasson and as wide up bulls and put it, just get out there and do it. You know, get out there it and turn something up. Yeah. Well ’cause you figure a lot of bucks.

00:12:21:16 –> 00:13:17:05
You’re not, even if you’re solely relying on trail cameras, you’re not gonna know what a buck’s gonna finish. Like No. Nobody’s even doing, most of ’em are maybe half grown and starting to look good by the end of the month. You could, you could tell. But still, there’s a lot of deer, especially later or some of these desert areas that they’ll put on a lot. Oh, the last first 10 days of August. Well, I’ve said, I’ve said it before. I’ve had number 10 on the hit list. Go to number one. Yeah. From the first to the 10th Yeah. Of August. So, yep. You know, and even we’ve talked about, that’s what I want to hear. ’cause I have, I don’t even have a, a one through 10 buck right now. Oh. I don’t know. You got some that are forking. Well, I’ve got plenty of those. Yeah. Plenty of those that are forking good. But then you get the opposite where elk are almost done, you know, a lot of ’em and Yeah. But it’s, and then, but most of ’em, I would bet 90% of ’em where that camera’s at right now, that bull’s not gonna be anywhere near it. No. In it’s different deal. A couple months they’re gonna be hunting them. So if you have an archery August, maybe they’re sticking around, but it’s about your only hope. Yeah.

00:13:17:13 –> 00:14:10:01
But it’s nice, you know, one of the things I like about trail cameras for elk, if even if you have a little bit of a season, you at least know in your mind like what antler grill’s looking like. Because it is a big job. Obviously now you go out in the mornings and those bulls, they’re getting into the trees so early and they don’t come out at night. Yeah, yeah. They just don’t. And they’re out all night long ’cause it’s cool and they can feed. So you kinda have to rely on cameras in a lot of ways for that. And if you find a bull or some bulls, you at least gives you a gauge on what antler grows don’t looking like for the year. So you can say, okay, here’s high expectation midrange, you know, this is like God’s just got elk on the rain. Yeah. And we in New Mexico in October, so it’s just, we’ve travel. It helps running the trap line in Mexico, it helps, you know, what bull to shoot when you do see it in the heat of the moment. Like, like yeah, there’s bits, I know this bull and you’ve seen say 80% too hard. Yep. Or I’ve seen 200 bulls and you’re like, I don’t have a three 50 or 60. Is this a bull I need to kill or No, you don’t. You don’t have to. Exactly.

00:14:10:15 –> 00:15:20:05
You don’t make mistakes when you, you got a kind of an inventory. Yep. Have an idea. Yeah. It makes it nice. You have kind of a characteristic you look for, hey, that one’s got short two, that’s the one I’m after. What like, it makes it easier in that thick stuff. Especially like an archery tag. They’re close. If you’re in thick, sometimes you only see a tiny little window. Yep. You recognize extra or a turns or, well I had, I had a guy quizzing me about a unit out west and he’s got the muzzle season, which will be the latter portion of September. And you know, that unit changes a hundred percent. Like right now there’s, you can hardly even find cows out there and then all of a sudden it’s a rutten mecca going crazy during his season. And so you just also can’t get too discouraged too fast. Yeah, no, exactly. Well, and we have gone from a really good late, late winter spring and then man, we’ve had like record heat in this here in the southwest. Yeah. You know, northern Arizona, Nevada, Southern Utah. Well all of Utah pretty much. Yeah. It’s been flirting with all time records. So, and like I said, then you got 4th of July weekend, there’s a bazillion people out there side byside. Every road is like powder right now. Like Jason, I heard you order an air filter for your truck today or something like that. I did.

00:15:20:15 –> 00:16:30:19
I heard you Right. Am I right for that reason? A hundred percent right. So, and I’m gonna need some shocks. I’m gonna need some struts. I’m gonna need, how’s the do all that stuff. I was doing the whole porpoising thing last night. I know. Stuff, stuff isn’t quite right under there. Twisting and turning and trying to decide how long my warranty’s good for, you know, down to the mine. It’s definitely a part failure. It’s not my fault. But anyway, it’s, conditions have turned really, really hot The last what, 2, 2, 3 weeks, which is awesome. Yeah. It’s actually awesome for scouting. Yeah. You want the hotter, the better. Like they’re, they’re more in a heavy pattern of water. Yeah. I don’t run that much water feed. Just a real heavy pattern. Although Josh, like you’re, you’re also looking for, you know, general deer and of course elk while you’re looking for general deer and whatnot. But you’re seeing things like they’ll, they’ll feed early and, and hit the trees early. But I, I think the deer early, the deer are completely different than the elk though, because I’ve seen plenty of deer and when you’re out glassing and stuff, deer coming out and they’re hitting and that, I think just those elk are just, there’s so big and they just heat, hotter heat hot body mass and they’re just, they’re, they’re sensitive to heat, but elk have to have water. So if you’re running cameras Oh yeah.

00:16:30:19 –> 00:17:43:15
They have to have water. Like right now, more regular the buck. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. You’re just getting them at dark instead of in daylight or whatever. But, but yeah. But I’ve seen plenty of deer coming out and they, they’re, when they walk outta the trees, they walk straight to whatever the nearest water source is and hit it, hit it first before they start feeding or anything else. Anyway. Pretty interesting. A lot going on. A lot going on right now. Of course we’ve got, you know, there’s, there’s opportunities out there too. We’ve got a new article coming out here shortly in, in another magazine, epic Outdoors Magazine coming out that kinda showcases opportunity hunts and things like that if you have an open schedule. Yep. And that’ll, that’ll apply to this summer with a few of the processes like Colorado and others that are Idaho turn back generals and that they’re still ongoing throughout the summer. Colorado will start up here in August, but, but it’s also to kind of gear up maybe for next year because some of those states like Idaho, like Arizona, you gotta be on your toes during hunting season this fall, November, December to try to land something for next year. So pay attention to that in this July August issue. Should be emag maybe next week sometime, John. So August, September, August, September instead of July. We call it the June, July, June, July, August, September. Yeah. Alright.

00:17:44:11 –> 00:18:58:03
It’s always weird though, when I’m working on this magazine on July 8th and we call it, don’t call it July, it’s just July in my mind. It’s always weird when we’re working on a magazine this summer. We’ve had a little break, bro. That’s right. Alright, so anyway, have some other articles throwing one together for the new NLP 14 by 15. Pretty awesome. So Josh know for a couple weeks, let’s talk about that. Like you actually videoed through the 14 to 12 and the 10, right? Yeah. All of them. And so what, like what did you come away with? All on the same tripod. All on the same object. Same, same, same object. Yeah. All at the same time. Mile away. It seems like you I did one, I did one at like a thousand yards. One of a thou, one of a thousand yards. And then just to kind of gauge more like magnification. And then I was was glassing a more at a mile as well just to kind of see the magnification difference between, from 10 to 14 all the way. And yeah, it was pretty awesome. I mean those, the twelves have been amazing just for the size, for the magnification, but like the clarity and everything that you get through ’em, but then you add that in a 14, almost 15 power, it’s pretty unbelievable. Same clarity. You’re just way blown up way. Yeah.

00:18:58:03 –> 00:20:02:07
Like you were showing me the photos and I mean we’re looking at like aspens a little sticks and Yeah. And you can see like the, the contrast there and the sharp lines. It was shocking. Yeah. How they held, they held that. Yep. And to be able to just sit in glass from a mile away and all of a sudden, you know, you see a pick up, a deer feeding along in a ridge and you know, some thick, a thick burn and such. It’s where, I don’t think you could’ve done it with the twelves, but that extra magnification just brings it that much closer to you and you can pick up on those small movements and stuff. So yeah, I’ve only had ’em for a couple weeks, but those fourteens are definitely something that we’ve all kind of wanted outta the twelves. A little extra magnification and they hit the nail on the head there. They’re, they’ve been awesome. Does your wife know about the fourteens? She What do you mean? Yeah, she, she has, she’s seen ’em, whether she, they’re green, whether she knows just like all the other, whether she read what the numbers were on there and compared ’em to the other numbers she remembers. Exactly. Who knows. Yeah. Hide the boxes. She doesn’t, she’ll get handed a pair every now and then and she just uses ’em all. These are nice. Yeah. Yeah they are. They’re they’re super nice.

00:20:02:20 –> 00:21:25:24
Hey, you bought ’em babe. Thank you. You’re half. Alright, well you know what, we’ve got some Vienna sausages here. Who? Who? Cash. Let’s do it. So never had a Vienna sausage, did we? Not that I can remember this. Alright, Bronson, let’s, let’s key it up a little bit. Let’s talk about when you eat these and when you don’t. And really you don’t have ’em on a regular basis. I can smell ’em from here. Kinda like a, kinda like what? Salivating Skipper snacks. Vienna sausage. Me growing up it was 10% snacks and Vienna sausage time. I think we all, we all get a Vienna sausage and Devin gets the goo right cash? Yes. Are I getting, I don’t eat Viennas at home or in the office or in the podcast room neither. What? What do you mean eat Vienna on the mountain? Do me too. You crack one on the side of a hill. You guys know what that does to me? I’ve, we’ve divulged that on the podcast. Oh God, that’s a good point. I would like to ask cash. Are you familiar with Joy Chestnut? I am. Yep. Alright. Hey, was that you on the Rock? He had to sit out this year, Devin? I don’t, I mean he had, he meant sponsorship problems. Yeah. So we do, we have to develop a safe word maybe tomorrow. Oh boy. But how, how old are you? Cash? I am 26.

00:21:26:23 –> 00:22:25:01
I think it pretty, you’ve never had a sausage make make him reach his fingers in there. You gotta, that’s his hand. He’s gotta have the full experience. What does the rest of us want? One? No, to my knowledge, I have never had one. I could have when I was little tiny, I’d not known it, but who knows? You would’ve known it. Okay, here we go. Ca is having his first beer of sausage. Oh, you ate that? Not even that bad. Owned it like Yeah, they’re glorious. It’s like a We never said they were gross. No, they’re actually pretty darn good. Yeah. So Josh tells the hill Josh, Josh has an affection for these. Oh, I love ’em. Do you? I love them. Really? You? I mean you take that whoa, over a little fire on the mountain. Cook it up little bit, you know, know what’s amazing. That would be great. You don’t have to cook them, you’re not gonna do anything. Okay. Okay. You know what’s amazing to me is they all taste the same but you know, it’s not regulated. Certain amount of beak, A certain amount of Bigfoot. Yeah, A certain amount of, you know, the other end could be mystery meat. We just read it. Yeah, go ahead read it. But you know, does somebody have readers? They, Logan, you read that They all taste the same. Hold on, let me turn the light on my phone. Light.

00:22:25:18 –> 00:23:46:06
It’s not dark in here. By the way, everybody, we got, the oldest guy is trying to read the smallest font. So what? So the, oh, okay. Logan, here we go right here. What’s the mechanically separated? Separated chicken. That’s the first ingredient. Mechanically separated chicken. That’s what they sweep up off the floor. That’s disgusting. Mechanically separated. That’s a front end loader that picks up all the pieces that are on the ground and dumps it into a vat. Okay, we’re down first thing. What’s next? Water. Water. Okay. Salt corn syrup contains 2% or less of beef. These are chicken, pork. Okay. These are chicken dextrose natural flavors like natural flavors. Dust. Well, sodium nitrate, garlic powder broth, chicken broth. I mean. Okay. So anyway, how do they get ’em to taste the same? Every time. Every time. There’s a warning here about it’s kinda weird. What the fluid don’t drink the fluid or something. No, there’s not Kevin. It’s more says don’t drink the go. You’d probably be amazed if you put that under a microscope. How disgusting it actually is. No, no. Like a hot feel. I put a hot log. This is approved. And they would not hurt you. They No, that’s not gonna hurt you. They want what’s best for you. No, it’s not gonna hurt you. I feel like they’ve changed the recipe though. A, I swear it’s in like juice now. When it used to be kind of jealous. It’s hundred degrees.

00:23:46:06 –> 00:24:56:27
It gets cold. Depends. Hundred degrees solidify. It is, it is 95 degrees. That could have done, that could have turned to that color. Just from when Wendy brought it from the gas station. Here’s late today. You would just smoke out Miranda? Maybe. Maybe we’re fine to try one. Yeah, he’s gonna have, oh there you go. Had a boy. I like it. It takes you back. I love back to, we got three to old mahogany ridge up on high and wind trying to get a little fire in Arizona. 2022. 2021. One was that walked seven miles. Never saw one elk. Yeah. Two dudes with 30 feet. Even can hear him a hundred yard fingers digging into the same can being a sausage camp. Who cares? Okay, here we go. John. I had one already. They’re great cash. Logan. Hey, this is the end piece of what bro? That’s an end piece. That’s a lucky one. Eat the tail. Oh, there you go. Cash. They have Joey chest. Not that thing. Josh, do you think, do you think ingredients in this one? Josh? Josh Gonu. Do you think the ingredients in this one are the same that are in this one? You never know who wants those. Can’t believe you bro. You have one. I have. That’s right. I had a good lunch today. Just didn’t keep it that way. I’m a, I’m a bachelor right now, so I ate, we eat whatever I want.

00:24:57:20 –> 00:26:12:18
You own yourself Blue Bonnet. No, they didn’t that that, that was a phase, man. How’s the dogs? That was a, have you checked in on the dogs? No. Are they living with you? No. I’m busy and they know that I’m busy and they fear for those dogs’ lives. So it’s 105 degrees or a hundred degrees. They know that if I go go scouting, they, they drink two cups of water a day. They know that if I go scouting all day long, they’re gonna be on the back porch all day. And that something could happen. Barking at golfers pretty much. But hey, they’re well taken care of. So. So these Vienna sausages, they’ve kept a lot of hunters alive. Oh yeah. Like they’re, it’s a staple item when you’re in the hills. It’s true. Kipper snacks I don’t feel as well that’s good about kipper snacks. I took more kipper snacks than these when I was a kid. That’s just what my dad took. So that’s what we took. I just don’t, I like ’em. Okay. Smoked oysters. I like it. The oysters are no joke. Awesome. They’re good. Love. I, I love, I just for a snack at home. I’m like they’re good. Yeah. Don’t know that they’re that healthy for you. They’re not disgusting looking. Oh, you’re having the RAs and all the, all this is all this is just garbage survival. Leftovers is what it’s It’s garbage. Yeah.

00:26:12:26 –> 00:27:25:09
So if it wasn’t for hunting this business go dead. Yeah, it right here feels like it. You know this Vienna sausages would be no more. Yeah. Before today I, I’ve never had a Vienna sausage watch on, not on a hunt. Oh okay. Like only on a hunt. Yeah. Same with people don’t willingly eat their other. Well have you ever had pigs in the blanket made with these though? Like my mom would make these of hot dogs. You get those. I grew up on spam. You get those. Well the same type thing, but you get those rows that are in the thing you have to open up and they blow up and you just wrap them in, throw ’em in the oven. They’re not bad. Huh? That’s a quick, I’ve done little smokies that way, but not same. Same. You know what’s interesting is these don’t go bad. It could be 110, it could be negative 10 and they’re always good for you. You know what I mean? And we’re referring to the sausage, not the whole can. Yeah. Yeah. Not the goo do not drink the fluid. Who did that? All of it. Drank it all. I think I did two cans. Is Vienna French word or is that something else? Was that a city? I think it’s city in Italy. Italy? Is that Italian? I don’t know my European geography. Well yeah, that says sausage of Vienna. In, in, in Italian. Think so. It’s Italian.

00:27:25:14 –> 00:28:38:29
Yeah. Is it? I thought it might be French Sean, but Austria Austria’s capital. Really? Shi Vienna. Oh, okay. Mozart and Beethoven from there. Devin, let’s talk about some landowner tags. We’ve got some landowner tags available actually. Yeah. And in New Mexico and they’re unit wide. So they got two different types of tags. You got unit wide tags and ranch only tags. Ranch only can’t leave the ranch. And so anyway, down there you and, and if you have a unit wide tag, you can go on other ranches that have tags that are designated unit wide. Correct. So that would be open to you too. E equal access doesn’t, they can still lock their gates and you have to walk in or whatever. So there’s may or that may not be an awesome beast property necessarily. Yeah. May just access the forest. Some units like 17 has some property that kind of gives good access to the forest if you know what you’re doing. That most units that isn’t a must. You don’t really, you know why tag, you’re probably not Yeah. That critical. But we’re seeing there’s, there’s quite a few tags and so guys that want a good elk tag and actually Bronson, we’ve talked about this too. And, and you guys, like with the restrictions on Muzz being iron sides, there’s, there’s an increase in quality on top of the second west wet year in a row. You know, really good solid feed.

00:28:39:21 –> 00:29:43:19
And so the projections are awesome. Think it’s even gonna get better, honestly. Which if you can ever draw an archery tag too in these same units in the next few years, I think the quality bulls is gradually starting to come up. Yeah. Most outfitters more people live there are telling you that. And some of these units like 15 actually was good prior. Oh yeah. To this. You know, it’s not like they were ever bad. It’s just that they Yes. You throw long range equation into muzzle load hunting and over the years you’ve been more and more refined at killing good bulls on these units, even on five day seasons. But now you take a open sight set up and you’re just not gonna be as effective. You’re not right. Or you can’t pass as many nice bulls hoping to hold out for something like squeeZ me. Well, I mean we downed one can dang fast. We, but you and I haven’t even had one. That’s the other thing with those muzzle over tags, I’m just thinking is if you had a youth hunter, the dates you get. Oh, so I did that with Sean one year. Yeah. Way back. He took a landowner tech. Now it’s kind of a a That’s a spoiled kit. That’s a spoiled kit. It was also 10 plus years ago. He was really young. Oh maybe dude. He was like 10 years old.

00:29:44:04 –> 00:30:50:09
And we had, ’cause there’s we age, we got a deal on one I remember. And you said, I’m gonna take him, I’m take it was the first or second year he could hunt maybe the first. Yeah. And anyway, took a, had a big muzzle order back then. Just a big old anyway and put it on, put it on there with the claw or whatever on a tripod. And we sat water. But it was awesome. Killed a bull. He killed a a five point bull, but it actually didn’t have the kind of, the bolt locked all the way down. It was partway up and that firing pin hit the, hit the primer but didn’t hit it hard. And it didn’t go off on like a three 70 bull. Oh. I mean it was, it was a heartbreak. Oh. Dad struggled for a minute. Sean was like, Hey, let’s go look at another one. You know, and was ecstatic with the five point bulb. But I mean, I’m talking a giant like I Well you would’ve shot, you would’ve been. I was just like, anyway, I can still picture it in my mind. But so we, so what do we got? We got some 15 muzzle loader. At least one or two. I mean by the time this goes to air, I mean they’re gonna go fast. So 15 muzzle, we’ve got archery. Six C archery. Yeah. Unit nine nine. Unit nine. 16 B, 16 E. Yeah.

00:30:50:18 –> 00:32:02:10
21 A. Like there’s options. Yeah. So anyway, if you’re looking for something fairly inexpensive or, or even a high quality tag, you know, we’ve got something there for you and definitely gives you a great opportunity to be able to hunt big bulls. And with those on a great year, you choose your season, whether it’s archery or muzzle or rifle. You know, when you type in your coat get, when you get a mature bull tag, you’ve got a either a rifle, if there’s rifle seasons or a muzzle you for the season of your choice, there’s three seasons. Yeah. Pick one, one you want or four. If you got a youth, like Devon said you go that early, early October timeframe. But an archery, you get to pick early or late either either one of the two. So fully transferrable, either know, no, no issues with with that or no nuance like Colorado or anything like that. So that’s another end. I’ve never, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an end in my life when you got t in a row they’re getting, I typically buy, you gotta open this now I typically buy a different brand but mean I didn’t even know they make brands of this. There’s only one kind of Vienna sausage. There’s a different, I never even knew they made other Vienna sausage. Isn’t that, isn’t that copyrighted name? They probably called something else. I dunno. Got on the table. That’s disgusting.

00:32:04:11 –> 00:33:17:23
This is from the expo. You know how many germs are on from the expo? There’s a big footprint. Right. America America’s favorite. And this is, no it’s a lie sausage. It’s Josh’s favorite from Vienna. So anyway, pretty, pretty awesome opportunities down there. You know, Devin, I wanted to talk a little bit, but you went out and shot that little pulled one power scope on your muzz letter. I was probably the most skeptical one, let’s be honest a little bit. Yeah. Just because one power open sites, you’ve killed buck open sites in Nevada, BBA, whatever. Yeah. At how, how many yards? 200. 200. Two 20. So then you’re like, well how, why, how could this be better? Right. Tell us about It’s better. Yeah. I mean if both muzzle loaders are sitting there and I could choose either one, I choose the red dot, no question. I shot it four times. Zeroed it basically fouled it three shots. My four shot was a 200 smoked a milk jug. Well no problem. It got windy. So I didn’t shoot as much as I wanted. But now I’m, I’m there confident. Yeah. Yeah. Dial, this would be illegal for dialed it to five MOA poof. Really? So you dialed it from the factory dial. Factory dial. Yeah. That’s awesome. It was pretty awesome. I already had the logo down. Did you need your readers that, that that little dial has shot.

00:33:17:27 –> 00:34:12:22
So you adjusted, what do you mean you had the load dead, you’d already shot it and crowed it? Yeah. Okay. Previously with a scope. So I knew the load already. Oh, I gotcha. Yeah, you just, that was, this is for Utah. I didn’t have to do that. Yeah. That’s for my Utah muzz loader. But stripped the magnified off. Put one of those on. And unfortunately we’re kind of waiting for those, those were a big rush for a couple of months. Well, the vortex and the loophole. And then all of a sudden they’re, they’re both claiming they’re all now they’re all outta stock. Well I wonder why these were so Sid. Well the best part about it is the adjustment of the brightness. You, I had that thing so fine that, I mean it was wasn’t a big starburst thing on there. 200 yards. Barely to see it. Not covering a whole milk jug. Like you could see the top the bottom. So if I remember right, I could hold off. I held about five inches from away. You had a little bit of eye surgery. And if I remember right, you were talking about it, it diagonal, lot of dots and kind some crazy stuff. But you got it fine and you, you’re fine. Well it gets brighter.

00:34:12:28 –> 00:35:20:11
It feels like it, it gets bigger just because it’s too bright and it’s not and yeah, even if you wear readers or like have astigmatism, the brighter it is, the harder it is to see. Yeah. It’s just, it’s just the way it’s, but I could get it down enough. It was fine. No problem. So what do you think Did, did it feel like you, you, you could extend your range even further? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. No problem. Dial it and go. Yeah. So what you’re saying is I can’t wait to shoot it again. I just, so the people, so what you’re saying is power people that be in Utah that changed this, they didn’t do nothing for you is what you’re saying. Don’t go, don’t get me started. Don’t get me started. But no, it’s, yeah. I mean I feel like it would, it would depend on the situation how much of the deer you could see. But if there’s a buck standing in the open, you could see, see it dead 10 outta 10 times I think at 300 yards. No problem. Done deal. No wind. You dial go. Yeah. That dot will not come to the whole body. I wonder what the range of adjustment is. I wonder how many MOA it will dial. That’s def So they have 15 MOA of adjustment in them. And you were at 200. But that’s gonna be, that’s yeah. 205 at 205 MOA.

00:35:20:13 –> 00:36:38:27
So you’re probably, it’s probably well zero shooting 400. So you were zero to a hundred and added five to hit 200. Okay. Yeah. 4.75. Yeah. But, and you’re shooting 84 grains of black horn. Is that LRX weighted? Yep. What two 50 grain barns. TMZ. Okay. They were sort of a CVA. Yeah. L-R-X-L-R-X. I’m getting, I’m gonna be 50. It was awesome. 50. It was awesome. I’m gonna be shooting a Parker 300 grain black max, but I haven’t yet on that particular rifle. So killed lots of stuff. Yeah. I was impressed with him. I was very impressed. Well what was impressive, have you killed bucks and bulls with that bullet? No, I just mean that that just the red, that bullet Have you shot, did you shoot your Nevada buck with that bullet? With that exact 250 grand couple. Your brother killed his bull buck the two years ago. What about his buck? Another brother, another buck tag last, I mean you guys have been smoke blowing son of a guns. Yeah. You guys, that partnership’s worked well. No, come on. You’re the sole owner. I am the sole owner of that muzzle owner. It’s worked well paid for. The thing they didn do think about was we already did the load data. That was that was good. Yeah. We were kind of sharing that pro then all of proprietary sudden another brother was sharing it ’cause he drew a tags.

00:36:38:27 –> 00:37:45:03
So you know, he own 25% of a muzz. So I don’t know how the brother thing works. Sounds like, but he’s got three of them. There’s four of them plus a dad. I don’t know if he was in on it. No, we xed him out. That’s good. All right. Well at least you didn’t have to buy out four partners. Only three. Yep. Yep. What speed does it shoot? I haven’t choreographed, I can’t remember. We did, we did get all the data, but I I I bet we have it written down somewhere. But I I’m sure I need to get that, bro. Have you’ve been shooting your bow? Yep. I’ve been shooting a little bit. It’s, it’s impressive. They don’t need a lot of adjustment from you. No. Tweaking. And I’m gonna say that word said this last, not a about this. Now you just said not a tweaker. I’m not a tweaker. I’m not a tweaker said it last summer and I mean it. Are you in denial? I stick to it. No, that’s the first step. I got the same bow out. That’s the first accepting I got the bow out. I, you know, I, I have two I I have a aluminum hoyt and I’ve got a carbon and so, I mean, I like to shoot ’em both and I just, you know, you never know when you’re in the middle of Yeah. A year.

00:37:45:04 –> 00:38:47:23
And I mean, I don’t, you trip and fall and then all of a sudden there you are. Yeah. You, you hit a string, whatever. Something weird doesn’t matter. We’ve, it hadn’t ever happened to me, but it’s happened to enough people that I hear about. Yeah. That if that happens in the middle of something, you got a bad problem in the middle of a Yeah. Incredible hunt. You know, especially if you’re outta state somewhere, you don’t even know you’re, you know, if you don’t work on it all yourself and have your own ball press and everything like that, you’re not capable of doing all that and taking it with you and doing it. You, you don’t know anybody. So anyway, so yeah, I go back and forth on those and man, they’re just, so I gotta ask what Jason says. Does Becky know about that? Oh, they’re both green. Becky knows. Becky needs to know. Both my bows are green. Becky knows what Becky needs to know. All she knows is the freezer gets meat put in it and she doesn’t ask questions out. She’s ecstatic. That’s right. You are. You’re the man. So anyway, I shot mine. Same thing. Yeah, same. Right where you left it. Money. No, don’t need to. Even with my bad eye, your bow. Oh yeah. Mine was the same way. I shot it like 15 times. Shoot. I was like, man, I’m, I’m the biggest thing would be muscle.

00:38:47:25 –> 00:39:48:00
Just being able to, you know, it is, I’ve been hold it working out on that and it’s helped a lot. You know, you do get kind of back in shape doing upper body stuff and it allows you, you, you’re steadier. Especially if you shoot 10 or 15, 20 plus times, you know. But, but it’s good. But now I mainly go out and I shoot like eight arrows a night and I call it a night. It probably helps like at the gym. And you like look the selfie. Oh yeah. It’s like kinda like drawing your bro on your pro bow when you get to your selfies. I haven’t been in a gym for, since a church basketball game. That’s the last time I was in a gym. That was probably 10 years ago. Got kicked out. Didn’t Yeah, I was gonna say they exile you from that. There are ball, there are out stories involved in that. Oh boy. But no, the thing I do too always is my last shot, I’ll put a timer on my phone or something and, and hit a minute and then try to shoot it like 10 yards. It’s so hard. But to just, to just get that muscle built. It’s awesome. It is harder than you would think. And, and you gotta be close. ’cause you, you can get a flyer on one of those. You get out 30 or 40 yards, you’ll miss a tour.

00:39:48:03 –> 00:40:51:19
It’s like 15 yards and still you’re just like, okay, my time’s up now I gotta settle in and shoot. It is hard. Yeah. Anyway. Yeah. So yeah. Have been a feeling good. Course you get an accu bow. Those are good, good things. So yeah, I’m, I’m feeling good, but it’s gonna be kind of weird because I’m gonna be shooting a bow, shooting a bow and then I come, when I come back from up north, I’m like a few days away from that. Yeah. Go time in the south. I’m, I’m gonna be putting Broadheads on here next week and then pretty awesome. Not see my bow until, you know, like five days before the season again. So it’s gonna be interesting. Never done it quite this way before. But every year that’s what I find every year is unique. This year’s gonna be unique for me. Depending on the tags you have, the time you have. Yeah. The weather conditions, you know, totally unique for me. Early mons, late Ings, whatever, you know. But this year it’s gonna be heavy glassing and that’s why I had to have absolutely the 14 pluses. Yeah. Right off the bat. Yep. You know, heavy glassing. Hopefully while I’m gone, mine show up. ’cause I was, I’ll just put it out there. I was nice enough to pump mine down to somebody that was on the waiting list. So John did too. Welcome. I did too. You’re welcome.

00:40:51:21 –> 00:42:03:03
You’ve got ’em buddy. So did I. Yeah. Devin. Not me. Josh, how about you? I kept mine. Every man for himself rounded. Yeah, I feel good and I feel good about it. I hope that supply chain just keeps coming. Your wife loves them. Yeah, she does the best. The best finals she’s ever owned. Alright, so, okay, so we got tags. We’ve also got some hunts available. Deon, you’ve been working on some of that. Anything top of mind? Stuff comes in every day. It’s stone sheep coming the other day all the time. Stone sheep just had a moose for two cancellation. You could do grizzly or moose and it’s still available as far as you know. Yeah. Good half off. Oh wow. Killer deal. Gonna have to call people who are on our list, who got on the, the list for cancellations and occasionally I’ll email that stuff out. But yeah, there’s stuff happening every day this time of year. Yep. It’s good. Actually gotta move some cameras. What do you mean you’re going to Zeis? Yeah, I thought we’re going to Idaho. Oh, after that, after Saturday. Saturday You gotta move cameras. Yeah, a few of them we’re all doing that. What’s happening? Well, cows bump ’em and horses bump ’em. They rub on ’em. Sheps move in whole herd of ships. I mean, and elk and Shep don’t get along very well.

00:42:03:12 –> 00:42:59:07
When I was a kid I had to drive through a whole herd of Shep at midnight. They were all standing eating across the road. It’s shame. Pretty amazing. It’s a shame they taste. It’s a shame. They taste so amazing or I’d hate ’em even worse. They’re disgusting. You throw ’em in a Dutch oven and known ’em for an inch of life. So what are you moving the cameras for? Just same kind of thing as we were talking about earlier. You know, you got, well trying to find a buck. Yeah. For one because I’ve had had cameras up for a while. I haven’t had a good buck, so I gotta move some. And then with some elk cameras you get, I’ve seen them, I don’t know, I don’t know if it’s on on a lot of units, but some units, elk will do some weird shifts where they kind of move up to some high country and then they’ll move down and, and a lot of ’em will move down here in the next couple weeks to where they’re gonna settle in to strip and rut and get ready. And so, but there hasn’t been any elk in those areas as up to this point. So you just gotta move some of those Anticipating. Yeah, you gotta, you you gotta be on more on top of it.

00:42:59:21 –> 00:43:58:15
Like you, you like, like I’m only going some of these seven to 10 days because the, the window of time is running out so much that if you neglect one for next seven days and found out it was spun by a cow or a horse or something like that. Yeah. Because there wasn’t anything perfectly to anchor it into a tree or something else. I mean not every place is the same but camp, sometimes they’re a sage brush, you know, you’re just trying to get lucky. And there’s, you know, Jason’s had road graders take out cameras and stuff before. Remember that grad, remember that he piled one up. He a guy plowed and rope. He took out the tree, took out everything, took out the tree. There’s my camera janked up. I mean, and then I grabbed the, grabbed the cart out and I can see the grad, I can see it. Well it was like a cat or something, but coming, coming, coming. Smash just rolled it in a windrow of dirt. Jeez. I mean so I mean it doesn’t matter. I think. And you know that guy, he totally enjoyed that. Yeah, well or he can see it. I don’t know. Oh, he saw it. But I mean there’s just stuff that happens. Yeah. There’s weird stuff. Well you, the cows aren’t there now.

00:43:58:15 –> 00:44:52:17
They throw in cows and you’re on a water that you weren’t really worried about cows being out and now you’ve got 40 of them rubbing on everything around there and you’ve got problems. You got a camera. The more you put into the camera work, the more you get outta it. Yeah. That’s all I’m That’s what saying I if you check ’em regular. Yeah. You’re adjusting batteries, birds. Yeah. Cameras malfunction. Yeah. And you’re constantly managing them. You leave it too long and then all of a sudden you’ve got one week left and you might have missed something there and you’re like, I’m just gonna pull this one. ’cause there’s some guys that’ll put ’em out and then pick ’em up and that’s all they do. That’s right. And then you’ve got whatever, maybe one out eight or one out of six or whatever. Oh yeah. You had that malfunction of some sort. A battery got pulled out just a little bit. You had flapping wind, flapping grass and it filled up your card in six days. ’cause you, you know, it was took 10,000 pitchers in six days. ’cause you had it set too close. You got a certain owl that decides to perch in front of it for the next, you know, for 10 hours out of the day every single day. Like stuff happens.

00:44:52:20 –> 00:45:55:17
Yeah, I’ve had, I’ve had elk come up, you know, or, or especially back when you could run cameras in the hunts. You get elk at wall and they’d bring their face up there and throw mud right on your lens. And then for till it rained you didn’t even get a real pitcher. Yeah. You know, but those days, pollock. Yeah. I mean you’d throw, get mud on there. I’ve had people put mud on there so people can fart with your cameras and throw mud on the lens and stupid stuff, you know, so yeah, just a lot of that. I’m, I’m going, I’m running in circles is really what I’m doing right, right now. Oh yeah. The same circle I’ve been, well yeah, I’m not quite in that circle routine. I’m still Well you have an extra week distribution. Yeah. You have an extra week. I’ve got 14 units, women and children that need cameras out and about every night’s a unique night. Yeah. Well and then you’ll get down to that last week then you’ll, you’ll rain in a few of the outliers. That’s what I’m gonna try to do for some of you guys and hopefully have you a nice concise tight little list of like, go get these for Mr. Bros here’s and do not make me a felon. Pick them up by the 31st between Devon and I. We’ll get ’em snagged up. I’m sure.

00:45:55:22 –> 00:47:01:19
I think there’s many cameras probably been burned up a little bit this year possibly. Oh yeah, yeah. Possibly. Probably not much on that SCO country but no, the beaver maybe. Yeah, I was asking that question about that elk ranch on that north end if that turn blew north. I don’t know if that’s still working but Yeah, it’s still there. You have a bunch of bulls roaming free. It’s still there. That’s true. Luckily it’s a pretty, pretty hefty fence. It up take some high heat to, well if it’s metal but you get some H braces that are made outta wood and all of a sudden they, you know, they, well if it’s hot elk corner run, they’ll run tree falls over. I mean you get a tree from the social media posts. I’m seeing it’s scary out there. It is. I, I think you know the hometown heroes are keeping it safe. Yeah, they are. They’re doing well and keeping, keeping it to bay. Yes. You need all the help. You can get some of these, some of these fires for sure. Fully equipped, head to toe protected. So, but we are Thursday gonna go shoot some guns I think. Oh yeah. What are you guys gonna do? Yeah, Thursday, Friday shooting school. Put on my, or just, we’re just gonna go up, try some op, some rep his eyes.

00:47:01:19 –> 00:48:04:25
Yeah, they’ve got some stuff coming out they want us to see and teach us about and I don’t know, they just said show up with hearing protection and eye protection and you’re gonna shoot all the bullets you want. So that’s what we’re gonna do. Product testing. Is that really all you’re gonna take? I’ll probably take a pillow, maybe like blanket, a little roll up mattress or whatever. Maybe a canvas cutter. Yeah, you could lay on the canvas cutter and be, you know, yeah, lay on that. That’d be good. They get a bunch of, you know, once fired seven PRC brass. I’ll bring it all back. Geez. Josh be like one for me, one for the box. What do you mean? Yeah, you need more. I’ll trade you for powder. Hey, it is an election. Know anybody. It is an election year’s more prepared for whatever And what happens about every four years. Tell me what happens. Shortages problems. Not in your basement for the last 12, for the last, in your base. 12 years or so. It’s happened. Don’t me, I’m wrong. Not in your basement. It feels like this year hasn’t been that way though, doesn’t it? Yeah, it never happens until it gets close and then after it never happens the six months prior October. It’s gonna hit my favorites when the shortages hit.

00:48:05:04 –> 00:49:12:27
The 70-year-old guys come out to have 14,000 rounds in their basement and I’m turning into that And they’ve got a horde mar. Yep. That’s their daily routine. When I no, at Walmarts restock to 22 long rafter. I’ll never need to buy 22 bullets the rest of my life. Let’s, there’s 75 or 80 olds. Write that down. There’s 75 or 80 year olds that can put your stock to shame, huh? Oh, they, yeah, they can. And they don’t even shoot 22 anymore. No, they don’t care. Yeah, it just about winning. It’s just about winning. They have nothing else going on on their lives. They truly think that this will be currency at some time. They can. I need a dozen eggs. Here’s 52 people. We’d go down to Walmart and you would stand there. They know when the trucks come. They have, they have it all cataloged out when to be there. And they got a little line and it goes the, the first guy in line, 82 years old, the next guy in line’s, 81 years old, the next guy in line, 78 years old. And because in order, when they woke up, right, the oldest guy gets up the earliest and they, and they make this line of 10 or 12 guys and then you got a 12-year-old on the end and they’re not gonna sell him anything. I mean even can’t even take his hundred safety course. No bullets. It’s so raw.

00:49:13:01 –> 00:50:21:00
I mean, Pollock was even throwing out, you know, high figures today, buying a hundred, you know, either large or large raffle magnum primers from me. Yeah. I think today, I don’t know, are you, are you low? Are you I’ve got thousands. Are you lean? Me too. Yeah, you can’t find them. I’ve got thousands. Like you can’t find gold metal match. Well so do I. I You gonna say that? Live on a hot mic? Well, I mean, just to Pollock. Sorry, I forgot we were on. I need to, I need to build some verif flames. Muzzle loader. And so I don’t know you, I’ve probably got enough, but just decide if you want Magnums or, or that’s what to call. You want medal match? I’ll let you know. Got large or large magnum decide they’ll both work. And then you got Winchester, then you got failed federal, then you got CCI. I mean, what are you gonna go with federal gold medal match? Two fifteens. They’re well, yeah, but that’s, they’re legit. They are, but I don’t wanna part with them. You said decide. I, I don’t wanna part with, I can’t do it. I’ve got plenty. I’ll part with, I’m the 12-year-old at the back of the line, front of the old guys. The thing is you, if you were one of us, I would sell you some, but since you’re 12, he’s gonna bring me one son.

00:50:21:00 –> 00:51:31:04
You’re gonna learn, he’s gonna bring me one and have a sit on my desk tomorrow. There you go. And if you were worth your salt, you’d have got up at four. Like me Started with coffee. Exactly. Coffee. No creamer. Straight black. These guys, I’m done. They’re no joke. They’re the same guys that to the yard sales. They beat you. They’re still listening to trad. Yes. Yeah, exactly. Everybody else on Facebook. Yeah, exactly. Marketplace. Alright, are we done with this thing? Are we still, I think we’re out of vi’s almost. Oh thankfully. Let’s open it up. Another can. No, let’s stay a little longer. 14 grams of protein in these things. Oh geez. They’re not bad. I mean it is, it is a, it is 50% of your daily sodium intake. 20. That’s night. 40% of cholesterol, nitrates and stuff right there. There you go. Wow. Healthy salts. Yeah. Salt. You know I used to say that salt was bad for you. Now they’re saying salt’s good for you. What is it good or bad? You can’t make up. Their mind is Redmond. Do you think redmond’s salt’s in these? No. No. There’s no way. That’s stuff bleached pure actually worth they put in there Redmond salt’s worth money. Yeah. It’s actually these from mother birds some’s just the burst. These were in the dusty salty goodness when you bite into ’em. These were in the dust pan after. After you cleaned up before. Yeah.

00:51:31:04 –> 00:52:33:12
You won’t get it anywhere else. You don’t get it anywhere else. No, you can’t. You here it’s open up this one. Hey that one’s going dry with nobody wanted the just dip in. The dip in the can. Carter. That’s the look of that. Paul’s always good for it. It’s definitely the tip of the beak. Let’s give a shout out to some sponsors. Let’s, let’s give a shout out to Q. You and I, I have a good tip for them. If you get on their website and you sign up for the alerts, they’ve got some pretty decent sales that, that they send, you know, right to your phone. And so I’m signed up for those and ordered quite a bit of stuff off of those. Did you? Yeah. Off of those. The alerts good, so that’s good. Yep. I had somebody hit me today. Hey, how do we get a deal on Q? They work with you guys. There’s no deals through Epic necessarily. Yeah. Although they do offer some deals on the website and so go check ’em out. We’re subscribed to it. Yeah. We have accounts like everybody else. You put your phone number in and you sign up for the alerts and, and it comes right.

00:52:33:14 –> 00:53:49:25
And you click on it goes right to the, some of that stuff sells out really fast when they do that though, it’s usually stuff they’re wanting to move or maybe they got a slightly newer model coming out, but not always. It’s just sometimes just wanna move it. Yeah. And sometimes it’s phenomenal deals. I got like a rangefinder holder for nine bucks and geez, you know. Yeah. Good, good, good deals on this. Gotta finish shopping up on there. Devin. Maybe a few more things we need. Yeah, you guys are before I’m gonna get home and you guys are gonna be next. I mean you guys, you guys are gonna be, you know, looking forward to it. Heading north. Yeah. Dyke, I got one of their sleeping bags. I need to order the wedge deal. Oh I had to. You tested it out the wedge. Yeah, they have an expander. It’s legit. Yeah, I know. I like to move around a little bit. Also a little shout out to Thompson. Thompson. Long range. Super good guys up there. Thompson long range.com, the shooting weather bees of course they’ve got their own scope and set up with radicals, you know, a variety of of calibers but kind of built off the 33 78. Just a awesome group of guys that know what they’re doing and was kind of my initial introduction to long range. Me too shot. Yeah. Shot chief with, with their gun.

00:53:51:09 –> 00:55:01:24
Just a, a number of great animals right off the bat. And that was, yeah, back in the day when I didn’t know anything about long range. So, oh, a lot to Mark Thompson. Like again, very knowledgeable. Scotty Thompson, he’s shooting coyotes, who knows how far. 1400 plus yards. I know guys that have watched. But anyway, just great. They also ha shoot the 2 57. Of course had one of those rifles too. It was awesome. That was a fun, I’ve been there a couple different times to their course and took a client up there one of the times and he bought 33 70 and that 2 57. That was a sweet little shooting gun. Yeah, it’s no recoil. It’s kinda like the PRC ish size, you know, just a great lighter, lighter weighing gun. You know, good antelope deer, you know some deer, you know sheep definitely type. So they got complete packages the entire package out the door, you know, around 3,900 bucks. Yeah. You can take the gun that you put together that day and shoot and take it home if you like it. Yeah, you bond with it. Which, which you, you’re probably gonna bond with it when you bring still out to a thousand, you’re gonna bond with it. Yep. So anyway. Thompson long range.com. 4 3, 5 7 1 3 4 2 4 8. Give ’em a holler.

00:55:02:24 –> 00:56:07:06
Lastly, I guess I’ll just kind of repeat again, Zeiss, they’ve been a great partner with us here at Epic Outdoors, sell all their products, very heavy, you know, here a lot of rifle scopes as well. It’d be interesting to see what you guys see this weekend up there. If they have any new reveals or if it’s just, you know, I think they’re maybe hinted some of that we’ll see. Might have something new to talk about in a week or two. We come back, talk about them. But great product, not just rifle scopes but you know, binoculars as well as spotting scopes and you know, the thermal stuff that’s come out, you know, improved upon stuff like that. Yeah. So anyway. Yep. Give us a call if you’re looking for something there to, you know, outfit your stuff. It feels like we, we always say it, but it is the time too. I mean we do have a big inventory of stuff here, but don’t wait till last minute if you know you’re gonna need something this year. I mean there are, there’s stuff that happens, shortages or whatever like that. And we’re seeing it a little bit with some of those one powers that we talked about. Yeah. Cross hairs and red dots and you know, until Utah changed it and Washington decided to change it in the same year that, you know, there was, those are on the shelf everywhere now they’re not.

00:56:07:22 –> 00:57:05:10
So not that we foresee stuff like that happening between now and the hunts, but you just never know if you need it. Give us a call, make you a great deal. Well the thing about it is we, we do really good at ordering and keeping a good stock of things to have for what we kind of calibrate as standard ordering. You know guys over time just ordering certain things. But I know last year a lot of guys seemed to wait until a week before their hunt and then all of a sudden you have four guys wanting a BTX or a one 15 on your thing. I have a feeling this year that’s going on too. It’s gonna happen. People are waiting and Amazon’s created that a little bit. Like just this just in time inventory type idea where they can just get it and immediately expect it. And so we’ve kind of, you had a lot of things on the shelf. Had a client that’s bought two of the same exact rifle scope. Again, we all do this is I like this scope with this gun and da da and I want, you know, and this works and this works and it’s the only one that works for me. And and it’s what they know and like, well I had a guy call in and say, hey I want another one, third one and we have one, right? We have ’em.

00:57:05:12 –> 00:58:04:19
’cause we’re kind of predicting some of that, but it’s created that mentality of I can buy it, I want it, I’m gonna buy it and it’s gonna come to me with free shipping 40 hours the next day. You know what I mean? And so anyway, we’ve had to adapt with that. Yeah. Whole mentality of no, no, not willing to wait for anything. And the thing that’s tough about it is once we can, you know, I can take your order and say, okay, we can get it one day air or whatever, once it leaves this office, it’s kind of, it’s out of our hands and at the mercy of whoever and shipping these days, it gets pretty crazy. I mean we’ve got stuff just to get mailed to us. I don’t know. It goes, I’ve had packages, I had a package, I ordered that muzzle break. It came from like Logan went to Salt Lake, went clear to Vegas and then back up to us like it, yeah. It was almost like it passed us twice to get here, you know, so anyway, so then last year we were trying to run into issues of guys waiting until the last minute and then wanting it the next day and then once it leaves us relying upon UPS or SPS. Yeah. And these buzz loader scopes are similar. Like they were available, everybody knew it and then yeah.

00:58:04:19 –> 00:59:11:17
You know, but you just assume, well, you know, well, and we said it, we have ’em, we have ’em, we have ’em. Call, call, call. And a lot of people did. I mean Oh yeah, hundreds now we don’t have we got rid of them. Yes. And so it’s not like people didn’t, but there were some that either decided they, you know, thought they were gonna do open sites and decided against that once they got out there and realized hadn’t shot open sites for 15 years and they looked through that and go, whoa, ah, I don’t like the looks of that. You know, I need a red, I’ve picked up of that since Devin, Adam don’t, Devin’s had some major surgeries. Yeah. Kind of getting him cleaned up. I’m good man. I’m good. He’s good. And it’s, it’s not to cause panic, but if you, if you know you’re needing a a muzzle loader scope, just, just get it. You know, that’s some of that kind of stuff. If you, if there’s, if you know you need, need spot scope. If you know you, you need a spotting scope for a hunt coming up a pair of binocular something, just do it. And a lot of price checks, you know, we we’re the best deal out there. Yeah. And so at least call us if you’re looking and do a price check with us. So for sure you can email [email protected] or call in (435) 263-0777.

00:59:11:17 –> 01:00:23:12

There’s a, there’s a big, big RO sale that we’re talking like you can over $500 off on. They don’t really have sales either. It’s not typical as part of their 75th. This is anniversary sale, 75th anniversary deal. It’s good. We also, Devin, I know we were putting another email together for, we got some rifles in stock, red Rock Precision, as well as several different fierce rifles on the shelf ready to go. So if you need something there or if you need a muzzle loader, we’ve got muzzle loader in stock too. So this is, you know, CVA muzzle loader.
