You are listening to the Epic Outdoors Podcast, brought to you by Fierce Firearms. Epic Outdoors choice for custom hunting rifles.

00:00:19:25 –> 00:00:20:02
All

00:00:21:19 –> 00:00:23:00
He’s got problems. Logan. He’s Logan.

00:00:23:01 –> 00:00:27:17
What? Logan, why don’t you just give us an update real quick? Just give us an update on your finger.

00:00:27:24 –> 00:00:29:06
Is this a podcast or is it Yeah,

00:00:29:09 –> 00:00:29:17
It’s

00:00:29:22 –> 00:00:31:00
Welcome, welcome, welcome.

00:00:31:17 –> 00:00:31:23
Are

00:00:31:23 –> 00:00:32:21
You worried about hipaa?

00:00:33:03 –> 00:00:33:06
I,

00:00:33:23 –> 00:00:58:26
I just didn’t know anyway. Yeah, I took my splint off after a month in the splint of it being broken and I pulled the splint off and it was crooked. Like the top of my finger was pointing straight down. I thought I’d go back to normal after a few days. So I gave it a week and nothing happened. And I went to my doctor and he’s like, this is bad. Your, your tendon when you smashed, it got cut in half basically. And it’s like drawn back into your finger. So you might need surgery and then

00:00:59:11 –> 00:01:01:29
’cause it retracts and they can’t just pull it back. I

00:01:01:29 –> 00:01:04:18
Have, I have a friend that, that happened, his pinky and it was like this all the

00:01:04:18 –> 00:01:10:09
Time. Yeah. He said, he said eventually your finger just goes like to an S shape and at that point it’s pretty much permanent. You can’t even

00:01:10:09 –> 00:01:13:00
Move it. It was, it was his pinky. And I told him, I was like, I could probably just hit that with a hammer,

00:01:13:16 –> 00:01:14:12
Straighten it back out just like

00:01:14:14 –> 00:01:15:04
A nail. I

00:01:15:04 –> 00:01:21:09
Saw him, right. His name’s Griff. I saw him the other day. They cut it off. Yeah. Whoa. It’s gone. I saw him because

00:01:21:09 –> 00:01:21:17
It basically

00:01:21:18 –> 00:01:25:29
Die. I was like, how’s your pinky doing? And he’s like, this nub. I’m like, they cut it off.

00:01:26:19 –> 00:01:27:14
Could you imagine? ’cause

00:01:27:25 –> 00:01:28:09
You can’t use it

00:01:28:09 –> 00:01:37:04
Anyway without his bird finger. I and forever more. That gal would remind him of that. Would remind you of that date. That’s a I know. And how big of a man you permanent? Most

00:01:37:04 –> 00:01:37:14
Expensive

00:01:37:14 –> 00:01:37:22
Two dates

00:01:37:27 –> 00:01:38:23
I’ve ever been on Crush.

00:01:40:04 –> 00:01:51:09
Alright. Hey everybody. Jason Carter and the Epic Outdoors crew coming at you on a Friday, Bronson. It’s Friday. Not only is it Friday, we just put a publication out. It’s at the printer. We’re gonna go live here with it shortly.

00:01:51:23 –> 00:01:57:08
We call it Frolic Fridays when it’s a day like this. But a magazine’s at the printer. Little bit, little bit of breathing room.

00:01:57:16 –> 00:02:02:23
Well, you and I are frolicking. I don’t know why it’s still coating. I don’t know. He’s not frolicking so much.

00:02:03:00 –> 00:02:10:05
No, he’s not. But it, there’s plenty of that going on. Yes. But when one project ends, you just have a little breath of life in you for a day. Yeah.

00:02:10:09 –> 00:02:13:03
Devin, speaking of breath of Life, how are you doing?

00:02:13:11 –> 00:02:13:22
I’m good.

00:02:14:05 –> 00:02:14:24
You a little tired?

00:02:15:01 –> 00:02:15:20
I’m a little tired.

00:02:16:07 –> 00:02:17:08
Why don’t, why don’t I don’t

00:02:17:08 –> 00:02:18:12
Give us don look pale today? Do I

00:02:18:24 –> 00:02:20:00
Oh, I wanna ask you, did

00:02:20:00 –> 00:02:20:18
You say what? I go at home.

00:02:20:18 –> 00:02:24:00
I said without going too personal. Personal. I would like to know how are you doing it? Do

00:02:24:00 –> 00:02:25:02
I look pale to you? Adam

00:02:25:02 –> 00:02:28:04
And I looked, looked at each other. We like, we need to do a welfare check on that.

00:02:28:07 –> 00:02:30:06
No, you don’t look pale. No.

00:02:30:27 –> 00:02:31:00
Slightly.

00:02:31:09 –> 00:02:32:18
Did your wife think you looked pale?

00:02:32:20 –> 00:02:33:04
No. Jason

00:02:33:08 –> 00:02:37:09
Did. Have you not been getting enough sunshine? Is that what you mean? You’re not tasty.

00:02:37:13 –> 00:02:38:11
Sleep and sunshine.

00:02:38:20 –> 00:02:40:23
I don’t even, yeah, I forgot what that was. Like.

00:02:41:05 –> 00:02:47:02
The arch ball household had a, had a baby. Yeah. And that’s kind of on April Fools changed the dynamics of it has the entire life.

00:02:47:07 –> 00:02:48:20
It was on April Fool, wasn’t

00:02:48:20 –> 00:02:49:26
It? Yeah. I’m a dad. Little

00:02:49:26 –> 00:02:51:12
Girls. That’s awesome. It’s pretty awesome.

00:02:52:00 –> 00:02:53:03
It is. Be,

00:02:53:08 –> 00:02:54:24
But it’s kind of crushing the

00:02:54:24 –> 00:03:06:19
Stuff, the stuff that we remembered a couple years ago. Just give, give you a little different perspective on when we were teasing Wyatt about him losing sleep and stuff. When, when his came along. Now you’re like, okay. I was too hard on

00:03:06:19 –> 00:03:08:17
The guy. I kind of was, I was hard on him.

00:03:10:24 –> 00:03:13:06
And now your life has changed. Yeah.

00:03:13:26 –> 00:03:15:24
It’s gonna take a little time before you think about

00:03:16:08 –> 00:03:21:15
One dev. He was, he was one hand hand pecking the keyboard and holding the kid in the other arm last night or when,

00:03:22:19 –> 00:03:27:17
No matter what I do. Yeah. Unless I’m sleeping. I’m one arm. And this really, oh yeah.

00:03:27:27 –> 00:03:32:25
Geez. I’ve read something on this is when dads usually become in life a phase that they become ambidextrous.

00:03:34:01 –> 00:03:34:07
My,

00:03:35:15 –> 00:03:43:03
My, for the first like four or five days, my, like my back was sore. My arms are, I don’t have those muscles. Muscles.

00:03:43:04 –> 00:03:45:13
I didn’t have those problems. I think you’re, you’re gonna get down the year

00:03:45:13 –> 00:03:48:03
Award. Oh, I’m good now. I can hold it for hours. Good. But I know

00:03:48:04 –> 00:03:51:23
I’m You’re gonna get down the year award. I, yeah. I I didn’t have the

00:03:52:06 –> 00:03:52:25
The first time. Yeah.

00:03:52:26 –> 00:03:55:16
The woman parts to feed and gratefully. ’cause I

00:03:55:16 –> 00:03:56:15
Need neither. I I need

00:03:56:15 –> 00:03:56:21
Sleep.

00:03:56:26 –> 00:03:58:21
You know they make these things called bottles though.

00:03:59:06 –> 00:04:03:18
Oh. When the girls find out about that, you’re in trouble. Yeah. Well,

00:04:03:18 –> 00:04:04:24
Gotta heat ’em up in a

00:04:05:09 –> 00:04:12:12
Bowl. You’re doing the whole heat a bowl on the stove? Not in the microwave. No, because the microwave will heat up up not even the milk at certain parts of the bottle.

00:04:12:23 –> 00:04:16:01
Full, full bowl with hot water and put it in there and let it warm up. And

00:04:16:16 –> 00:04:16:21
Although I

00:04:16:21 –> 00:04:23:09
Can it on put, gotta remember put it on your wrist. Oh yeah. Do the whole wrist check. You gotta remember to turn the water off though. I learned that although I flooded my

00:04:23:28 –> 00:04:29:28
Bathroom. Microwave something. I think there’s other benefits of like radiating, like microorganisms and stuff. You might, some

00:04:29:28 –> 00:04:38:21
Stuff. Yeah. You don’t want kill ’em. You want, you want the natural, what do they call it? Non herd immunity, homogenized milk or whatever it is, you know, whatever. We’re

00:04:38:21 –> 00:04:39:25
Getting into dairy terminology

00:04:39:26 –> 00:04:40:05
Here

00:04:40:06 –> 00:04:46:15
Now. Well, hey Josh. Josh, what did you find on the worldwide web down there for sale? Otter Pop Saint George.

00:04:46:25 –> 00:04:47:01
Oh,

00:04:47:28 –> 00:04:57:06
Pop utter ter pops. I, Josh always finds these, Josh finds he sent me two or three of these people selling breast milk on the www.

00:04:57:07 –> 00:05:00:15
Well, and I was wondering like, what, what’s his search engines look like over there?

00:05:00:20 –> 00:05:01:11
I’d like to see his,

00:05:01:19 –> 00:05:03:10
I just, I just hit a mark and say, is this still available?

00:05:04:29 –> 00:05:05:21
Were they all sold?

00:05:06:09 –> 00:05:07:21
Yeah. I don’t know. What was it?

00:05:08:01 –> 00:05:08:13
Wasn’t

00:05:08:13 –> 00:05:13:19
It natural milk? I never commit beyond still available Natural milk. It was preserved and ready to go for people like Devin. I,

00:05:13:23 –> 00:05:20:04
I, I didn’t, apparently it was, I don’t know, medication free. I, I didn’t, I didn’t dive into it. It gotta

00:05:20:04 –> 00:05:20:25
Be, it’s gotta be shared.

00:05:20:26 –> 00:05:22:12
Didn’t have the Covid Covid vaccine,

00:05:22:19 –> 00:05:23:11
Her medication

00:05:23:12 –> 00:05:24:09
Free. All the,

00:05:24:19 –> 00:05:25:19
I happened to scroll through.

00:05:26:02 –> 00:05:29:17
She had her card or credentials or whatever. How do you credential breast

00:05:29:17 –> 00:05:36:07
Milk? They have like a milk bank. I think. I remember seeing a paper at the hospital. Oh my if you need it. Breast milk. They have you guys. It’s true.

00:05:36:08 –> 00:05:45:18
It’s a real thing. It’s a real thing. It’s true. Yeah. And there’s some ladies, you know, don’t produce or enough or early enough or whatever and you need a few days supply tap into it. Yep.

00:05:46:11 –> 00:05:47:17
It’s a real thing. Moving

00:05:47:21 –> 00:05:48:01
Right

00:05:48:10 –> 00:05:49:09
Along. I’m not even

00:05:49:12 –> 00:05:50:03
Moving right along.

00:05:50:16 –> 00:05:53:12
I’m not an expert. It was just on Facebook marketplace.

00:05:55:09 –> 00:05:57:17
Not an expert, but somehow it was the top of your feet.

00:05:59:10 –> 00:06:01:07
No pun intended. I’m here to top of your feet.

00:06:02:18 –> 00:06:06:07
I’m here to simply help coworkers with their needs. That’s all.

00:06:06:21 –> 00:06:07:19
David Look a little

00:06:07:19 –> 00:06:10:17
Peaky always looking for a deal. Even if it’s nut Pond, still looking for a deal.

00:06:10:25 –> 00:06:16:04
Okay. All right. Poll. What are you working on? What do you got going on over there? Just,

00:06:16:07 –> 00:06:16:27
Just some

00:06:17:15 –> 00:06:17:25
Stuff.

00:06:18:09 –> 00:06:18:28
Stuff. Yeah.

00:06:19:15 –> 00:06:20:12
Pricing. Why don’t

00:06:20:12 –> 00:06:20:25
Pricing

00:06:20:25 –> 00:06:23:29
Stuff. Tell us what, what showed up yesterday? Big old shipment.

00:06:24:05 –> 00:06:30:09
I think trail cameras didn’t really get a chance to look. I was told trail cameras. We wheeled them in there. We’ve been and walk

00:06:30:09 –> 00:06:34:05
Outta the room. This publication you’ve been checking Yep. All kinds of statistics. Yep.

00:06:34:09 –> 00:06:35:11
But we got pallets, so

00:06:35:12 –> 00:06:37:27
It looked like stealth cam boxes. So I need to confirm that

00:06:38:11 –> 00:06:39:13
They, they were, a lot of

00:06:39:16 –> 00:06:40:27
’em we did, we did order some and

00:06:40:27 –> 00:06:42:28
There were a lot of ’em. And they need homes. That’s all I know.

00:06:42:28 –> 00:07:02:27
Yeah. Yeah. They got it. Well, and people are starting to ask about it. People are getting serious. Generally you stay on top of one year and, and you can always say nothing matters till July. But when you get cranking, if you’re on top of it, I don’t know if it’s mental or what it is, but like if you, when I put ’em out in the end of May, like I’m just better. My stuff in July is better. Yeah. I I don’t know how to

00:07:02:27 –> 00:07:25:29
Explain it. Well you just, you don’t have time, honestly. You Yeah. You have to start. I was, I was thinking about it the other day. It’s like, you know, really there’s some of these places and it’s, some of it’s higher elevation on a year like this. Like I could have that camera out already. Yeah. And not, not because there’s something they might not even be there yet to get pictures of. Or it might be a nub that you get a picture of, but at least like the camera’s in place and it’s out and done. So as I have other stuff, the camera’s ready, ready and waiting to take pictures. So, well

00:07:25:29 –> 00:07:38:23
If you’re like me, I don’t know how you guys are, but, but just getting them all done. New SD cars, new batteries loaded up, and then the brand new cones, you gotta format and get ’em all set. Right. Get the date time, all that. That’s a, that’s a pro. Those are projects for 50 or a hundred cameras.

00:07:38:29 –> 00:07:43:01
I like to label ’em internally with a number just because they’re all number 1 59. Is it

00:07:43:01 –> 00:07:49:09
Such if quits working too, then you, then you, when you pull your cars back, you’re like, oh, that camera’s janky. I gotta go find that

00:07:49:09 –> 00:07:50:01
Camera not getting picks.

00:07:50:07 –> 00:07:52:21
I gotta go find it and pull it. Yeah. You know, you gotta name ’em. So

00:07:52:21 –> 00:08:18:03
I’ll name it internally and then also with a Sharpie on the external, you know, so there’s just a lot of projects, but once you get ’em out early, it just feels like then you start getting them rotating. And also, we had a deer out in the middle of the desert showed up end of June, I wanna say. Never got him on camera the rest of the year. And, and so you, you know that deer’s alive so it did do something. Yeah. Oh no, it did

00:08:18:03 –> 00:08:46:22
Do something. I had a camera last year, new one that I had put up that I thought was gonna be a really good camera. It ended up not being, but it was actually a good early camera because there were 30 bulls a day hitting this camera Wow. In early June. And by July one it was non-existent. Wow. They might not, so at some point, like they were moving through there at some point and it gave you, even though they weren’t grown, it gave you a good idea because there were bulls that were recognizable bulls though. Hit later cameras. Yeah. Like, oh hey, that bull was over there. So it just gives you an idea of maybe where that bull came from.

00:08:46:23 –> 00:08:49:16
Where triangulation Yes. You’re doing the triangulation method.

00:08:49:19 –> 00:08:50:12
Well maybe you need

00:08:50:21 –> 00:08:51:00
That

00:08:51:02 –> 00:08:52:23
To put out some attractant to keep ’em there.

00:08:52:23 –> 00:08:54:19
That’s true. That’s true. I should have, yeah.

00:08:55:19 –> 00:08:58:06
Anyway, moving right

00:08:58:06 –> 00:09:16:11
Along. But yeah, no, we’ve got, we’re gonna have basically three different kinds. You know, we’ve, we’ve narrowed it down there. There’s a significant amount of trail cameras out there and they all do different kinds of things. But we’ve narrowed it down to where we’re gonna be getting a, a gmax 32 vision. I, it’s called. It’s got a little LCD viewing screen. It’s a great camera. You know it, we’re talking, it’s kind of

00:09:16:11 –> 00:09:19:19
Overall what we like. Yeah. For a, for a place and run

00:09:19:25 –> 00:09:23:01
High megapixels, high video. Good, good range.

00:09:23:08 –> 00:09:24:22
Non cell camera, non

00:09:24:26 –> 00:10:05:10
Yep. It’s a good video but it’s not like extremely expensive. You know, like some of these four Ks or something like it’s an affordable great camera you can put out that’s got good reach, good range, takes goodnight pictures, all that stuff. So we’re gonna have that one. We’re also gonna have a 20 megapixel version that actually comes with some batteries and an SD card with every camera. So a little more affordable, not as good. Like at night coverage doesn’t have as much range and stuff, but if you were putting something on a trough or, or some kind of salt block, something like that drinker where something’s coming to it, it’ll take good enough pictures that if you’d be like, okay, I’m gonna put this out into it to say a new spot. That’s what I like to do with those cameras. Or I always like to keep a couple of ’em in my pack when I’m putting my other cameras going to a spot.

00:10:05:27 –> 00:10:49:21
I inevitably, I’ve come across a seep here and there. You’re like, geez, I didn’t know this seep existed. And there’s tracks there. So you throw up one of those little 20 megapixels on that next time on your way back through, check it and see if it’s worth putting. You could put a better camera on it. Whatever. So they’re just great cameras to have. We’re gonna have those, like I said, they’re gonna come with, it’s a package deal with an SD card and batteries. And then we’ve gone to the decept, no glow cellular camera. Okay. And cool thing about those same kind of thing like high megapixel, great video, all that great range. So a lot like that gmax actually just slightly better for quality in some of that regard. But it is a cellular camera. The cool thing about that is last year they did, they did an at t and Verizon card in ’em.

00:10:49:21 –> 00:11:34:24
They have a dual sim card. Yeah. So now you can just throw it up and they, they seem to actually get better service because it’s kind of searching for both before where you had to either get at t and Verizon, sometimes you’d go to a spot and you didn’t know which ones. So you’re packing two cameras, you’d sometimes I’d put the wrong one up thinking its, ’cause you, when you go to turn it on, you don’t really know when you go to turn it on, you’re looking at it, oh this seems as like you getting better service than the other one. You put it up and it doesn’t, whatever. So I actually seem to, they work better, but great camera, we’re we’re basically gonna have those three. Okay. And it’s gonna be, we ordered a pile of them, but at the same time we sell out of them. You know, had guys call last little bit bits. Like that’s our plan with, with a lot of the, the trail camera regulations and all that kind of stuff. What we’ve switched to the last few years is wow, we do a big heavy order this time of year so that guys can get ’em in their hands, get ’em out on the ground now and then we

00:11:35:04 –> 00:11:37:06
Don’t, don’t reorder that much. No, we

00:11:37:06 –> 00:11:37:21
Don’t, honestly, we

00:11:37:21 –> 00:11:44:09
Don’t, we would’ve to be really early. Early to reorder. Yeah. Because come July 31st, there’s zero demand here. Yeah.

00:11:44:09 –> 00:12:04:27
Well, and and with the technology changes, you, you can’t carry stuff for two, three years. I mean that changes so fast. Plus then when it changes and they discontinue model, then the whole internet’s got blowouts everywhere. And so you, you get what’s good new that year, get rid of it next year you get what’s new and good and functional for that year. Get rid of them, move on. So yeah, they will sell out. We got some boxes too if you need those. So, yeah.

00:12:05:03 –> 00:12:11:06
Anyway. And they did come out, south cam did come out with a few new cameras this year. Stuff we’re, we’re probably gonna get a few of those to test out. They got some

00:12:11:06 –> 00:12:17:01
New, the problem with there again is by the time they come out Yeah. In about two months they’ll come out. Yeah. And in in the season. For the season

00:12:17:01 –> 00:12:18:12
Because they’re, they’re great for the

00:12:18:12 –> 00:12:18:24
Whitetail

00:12:18:29 –> 00:12:54:17
White tail hunter. Yes, exactly. ’cause they, they can use ’em cleared in November, December. So they don’t really release these cameras. They’ll release ’em, but you can’t get ’em in stock until June, end of June. And by that time we’re about done so, so we don’t generally get those. But they do have some cool features. They got some new, some lithium batteries that are a rechargeable lithium battery that you can throw in there instead of taking batteries if you want all the time. Yeah. Anyway, some other things like that that are cool, we’re not gonna grab any of those this year. Possibly next year, whatever. But yeah, we’re gonna have those, we’ll be getting those on the website and have those available here in the next week. You’ll see that we’ll kick out some social media stuff about ’em as well just so you’ll keep an eye when, when those are ready. But yeah,

00:12:54:20 –> 00:13:14:00
Pretty awesome. Yeah. And if you want something different, well you can go out there and you can order ’em, go to stealth can’s, website, whatever and or you know, we could possibly order ’em too if we had enough demand. I know guys were talking about that with the revolver. Yeah. Somebody found your revolver, right? He did. Yeah. But overall, what did you guys think of that camera? It was a more expensive camera. Yeah,

00:13:14:00 –> 00:13:30:00
It’s a more expensive camera. So you weren’t gonna have like 50 of them or something. Yes. There. It was very situational. It was, it wasn’t a simple set it and forget it. Yeah. Kind of camera. They did take a little more work to get used to also, you know, it’s got 360 degrees and you’re always kind of combat,

00:13:30:00 –> 00:13:30:27
Got a movement. It’s got like this.

00:13:31:01 –> 00:13:32:03
Yeah. It sort of move when

00:13:32:08 –> 00:13:34:25
It almost needs a grease zerk in there. There’s so many moving

00:13:34:26 –> 00:14:09:25
Parts. It was, it was awesome for the fact that I put it on a, a meadow that was, that was like say 300 yards across and then it was, I don’t know, 800 yards up and down from the camera in the meadow and, and like I just put it up. So animals were walking by and it was pretty cool to see. You’d get a bull or something cross in front of you and there were actually 10 bulls up the meadow that you could see ’em outta the peripheral of that camera. You would never have known quasi plot watcher type thing triggered. So you’d think, you’d think, oh that’s a, that’s a, a lone bowl or whatever. But when it triggers that, it actually takes it in every zone that you have set up. And so you got everything around you and it was pretty crazy. Got

00:14:09:25 –> 00:14:11:19
An panoramic of 30 bulls.

00:14:11:19 –> 00:14:36:17
Yeah. Security stuff. It was kind of funny. Saw guys trying to like sneak up on it from behind, you know, Ooh hey I like, they didn’t mess with it or anything, but they’re just trying to sneak up from the side. You get phenomenally good pictures of ’em. Yeah. But, so that was good. But the, the problem I had with them honestly was setting ’em up. Anytime you have trail cameras, I always set ’em up trying to face north and south so you don’t get that harsh east west sunlight coming in. Because that’s usually when the animals are there and half time you’re like

00:14:37:26 –> 00:14:39:03
Revolvers, it’s getting triggered,

00:14:39:06 –> 00:14:46:10
It’s gonna hit it. Yeah. So you have to either turn that zone off or try and figure that out. So there’s some of those things that it’s, it’s a little bit trickier

00:14:46:10 –> 00:14:47:29
Camera. It’s not perfect but a unique, but

00:14:47:29 –> 00:14:50:00
It was, yeah, it was cool. It was a cool camera for sure.

00:14:51:12 –> 00:15:21:15
All right, well that’s a great update and I appreciate that. Of course we got tripods in all, all kinds of stuff going on here at Epic Outdoors. And we’ll be continuing to come out with some of those promo items and things like that. So go to epic outdoors.com and we got a store page on there. You can go check ’em all out and we’ll go from there. And like Josh said, we’ll have the updated cameras on our web as well. So Bronson, I wanna move to the copper state, the copper state tags. It’s in you. Y’all hit, we’ve all said it. Did it, did it really happen? I actually had a guy reach out. Yeah.

00:15:21:19 –> 00:15:24:29
I had a missed call and I tried to call it back and it rang forever

00:15:26:03 –> 00:15:27:01
From a six. Was

00:15:27:01 –> 00:15:28:13
It like an hour before we got that?

00:15:28:13 –> 00:15:30:10
6, 6 0 2 or it was a

00:15:30:20 –> 00:15:31:29
3 0 8. Might’ve been like

00:15:31:29 –> 00:15:35:23
Jamaica or 3 0 8 something. Oh. Bringing

00:15:35:27 –> 00:15:37:12
Up. But I’m just saying if they

00:15:37:12 –> 00:15:43:01
Don’t, Devin, how Bronson, let me just ask you like how many calls do you get from marketers in, in a day? I

00:15:43:01 –> 00:15:43:25
Don’t get that many at all.

00:15:44:06 –> 00:15:45:23
A lot. Like a lot.

00:15:46:11 –> 00:15:47:29
Devin, you just missed the copper state

00:15:48:01 –> 00:15:52:04
Tag. That’s what I thought. Ow. They didn’t leave a voicemail but I’ve been notified.

00:15:53:00 –> 00:15:58:24
Then there was a Nigerian, a Nigerian prince calling to let you know that you just missed out on this copper state tag.

00:15:59:01 –> 00:16:01:17
Just say, and then I got the for

00:16:01:17 –> 00:16:03:19
$115 tag fee. We’ll send it to you.

00:16:05:17 –> 00:16:07:16
Send us why are the money, I’ll be in the

00:16:07:16 –> 00:16:10:11
Brown sweater. Don’t give people ideas. Can you imagine? Yeah.

00:16:10:25 –> 00:16:30:18
Well apparently somebody’s heard us joking for years that last couple years at least we know people. When these first limited entries came out four or five years ago, we knew obviously had some stories, some great bucks killed in their butt. The last couple at like this has been a cloak and dagger scenario has, there’s not even a first initial last name or two initials. We’ve

00:16:30:18 –> 00:16:31:19
Offered significant prizes.

00:16:31:26 –> 00:16:37:01
We offered a muzzle loader last year to anybody that just called in and proved that they had attack. Remember we, and we didn’t get a call

00:16:37:06 –> 00:17:03:04
And we didn’t offer anybody anything. Not this time. And then we had a guy call in or hit me up on the ground. So anyway, yeah, we had a buddy, Matthew Fife. Anyway, he reached out and said, Hey my buddy freaking drew attack and would you be interested in, you know, visiting with him or whatever. Yeah, absolutely. Anyway, so here we are. We’re gonna call this guy. I’ve never talked to him. I don’t know him. I don’t know him necessarily. He

00:17:03:19 –> 00:17:05:01
Interesting. But tell us how he was notified. Yeah.

00:17:05:01 –> 00:17:07:10
Like all of those kind of things. And so was

00:17:07:10 –> 00:17:08:29
It a 3 0 8 number that called you? Or what?

00:17:09:18 –> 00:17:13:19
Let’s ask him. Well let’s ask him. You never know ’cause Devin probably missed out on something

00:17:13:19 –> 00:17:16:09
Special. You think I’m pale now? If that was the case, I’d be livid.

00:17:17:14 –> 00:17:18:04
You just get ready.

00:17:18:20 –> 00:17:21:18
Just answer your phone then you’re fine. I was busy. Don’t screen

00:17:21:18 –> 00:17:22:17
Your calls down. Don’t do that.

00:17:22:24 –> 00:17:30:11
Alright, so here we go. Let’s call him up. It’s Taylor. Don’t want to use his last name just in case he Oh. Doesn’t want it out there. We’re

00:17:30:11 –> 00:17:32:11
Sounding like Arizona now. Just kind of cryptic

00:17:33:00 –> 00:17:34:19
Taylor a period.

00:17:42:14 –> 00:17:42:24
Hello?

00:17:43:07 –> 00:17:43:29
Hey, is this Taylor?

00:17:44:24 –> 00:17:45:20
Yeah, sure is

00:17:46:05 –> 00:17:48:27
Taylor. Hey Jason Carter and the epic outdoors crew here. How

00:17:48:27 –> 00:17:49:08
Are ya?

00:17:50:02 –> 00:17:51:25
Hey, I’m doing good Jason. How are you doing?

00:17:52:18 –> 00:17:55:12
I’m not as good as you, I don’t think, but we were just, yeah,

00:17:55:24 –> 00:17:57:07
It’d be hard to be on this level.

00:17:58:14 –> 00:18:28:16
We were, we need a little proof though. Yeah, we were teasing. Go ahead bro. Yeah, we were teasing a lot about these copper state tapes. We’ve been teasing for a couple years about these draws. You never, they don’t post the, even the initials of a winner or the city that they’re from or anything somewhere. Just wonder if this is a good money making deal for them. And they didn’t have to produce tax. But apparently you wanna kind of hear how, how this actually happened. Devin thinks he missed a call the other day. That probably was a copper state draw. It came from the, it was a number from the Philippines or something. 3 0 8 number. But so

00:18:28:29 –> 00:18:51:20
Yeah, so, so just like everyone else, I get all kinds of scam calls all like every day. Yeah. And I was at work and I’m, I’m driving to my next job and I get the calls coming through my, my radio on my truck, you know, and it’s an unknown number, but I noticed that it had a 6 0 2 area code got, which is Phoenix.

00:18:51:24 –> 00:18:53:08
There you go. Devin. It wasn’t so

00:18:53:17 –> 00:18:53:26
That,

00:18:53:26 –> 00:18:58:15
Right Devin, you didn’t get a tag. All right, keep going. I keep, keep going Taylor.

00:18:59:01 –> 00:19:46:13
So, so I let it ring a few times. I’m like, you know what, I’ll just answer it. Since it had the local area code and where I was at, I had kind of crappy service man. So that there was like a weird screeching sound in the background and, and it was breaking up a little bit. And, but the lady says, is this Taylor? I’m like, yeah. She’s like, well I’m calling to let you know that you won the copper State draw. And of course my jaw hit the floor. I, I’m like, I couldn’t believe it to be honest. I thought it was a scam for like Yeah. The whole phone call. Even once it, I got off the phone with her. She told me her, she was having trouble with getting her secure line to work to take my payment. Oh

00:19:46:22 –> 00:19:46:28
Wow.

00:19:48:28 –> 00:19:53:01
So she would have someone else call me back at noon. And I’m like, okay

00:19:53:12 –> 00:19:58:14
Sir, I need your bank account and routing number and your social security number please. Wow.

00:19:58:19 –> 00:20:09:24
But what’s funny is she kind of went into detail about how it wouldn’t affect my, my points for the regular draw and all this stuff. So after I hung up, I’m like, man, if that was a scam, she really did her homework.

00:20:09:24 –> 00:20:10:26
She knew her stuff. Yeah,

00:20:11:03 –> 00:20:11:14
Right.

00:20:11:18 –> 00:20:14:19
Yeah. There’s no bag limit issues or nothing. Right?

00:20:14:21 –> 00:20:30:14
Yep. She went over all that and she, she sent me an email regarding all that stuff too. And what’s real funny man, is she even, she accidentally left the other guy’s name that she talked to right before me on the email

00:20:30:14 –> 00:20:37:14
In that head. So then you thought it was a scam. So you know, yes. Another guy that drew Right, okay, you forward, you need to forward that.

00:20:38:05 –> 00:20:51:25
So it’s just his first name. Oh. But she told me in the phone call, Hey, I just realized I accidentally sent the wrong name in that last email. Just disregard that. So I’m like, this is so fishy man. And she,

00:20:52:05 –> 00:20:53:15
I wanna talk to the director.

00:20:54:06 –> 00:20:58:17
Right. I probably shouldn’t have said that. Now they’re gonna be like, Hey, you’re in trouble.

00:20:58:24 –> 00:20:59:29
Did you pay for the tag yet?

00:21:01:00 –> 00:21:24:18
Yeah. So the lady was supposed to call me back at noon that day. Well, noon went by, of course I’m watching the clock. Like it’s, I, I like, I’m watching it and noon went by about one 30. I’m like, I better call these people. ’cause it says in the email that I have till 10:15 AM the next day to pay for my tag. And Wow. I know if you

00:21:24:18 –> 00:21:29:23
Were out can, what if you were out of service? You, I fishing in the 24 hours is all

00:21:29:24 –> 00:21:54:29
You’re done. Exactly right. I guess if, if I didn’t pay for it by 10 15, the next day it was gonna go to the next person. It clearly says that in the email. So luckily I was here in town and like I said, I was getting antsy so I just called the game and fish office and I got a guy on the line and I’m like, Hey, let me make sure is this is this lady that with you guys. And he’s like, oh yeah, that’s the lady that was supposed to call you. I’m like, well thank God.

00:21:57:12 –> 00:22:00:19
So you got it taken care of though, right there and there. Yes

00:22:00:19 –> 00:22:28:15
Sir. So right then he was apparently they have like a chat system within there within AZ game and Fish and he was typing, I could hear him typing on his computer, chatting with her. And then the other lady called me right after I got off the phone with him and said that, that I was the last one that they were getting payment from and on. She did tell me that one guy, so they have to ask you if you want the tag. I’m like, why would someone not want the tag?

00:22:28:16 –> 00:22:30:28
You only put in for it like three days ago? She probably had

00:22:30:29 –> 00:22:31:24
A guy turn it down.

00:22:32:14 –> 00:22:45:21
So the the guy, a guy, one of the guys, everyone had already paid except me and this other guy. And he was gonna call him back the next day because it, she said it was an older guy and he was unsure about it. And

00:22:45:28 –> 00:22:50:17
He like, man, that’s crazy. He’d been scanned by something like this in the past was just, well his

00:22:50:17 –> 00:22:52:24
Four, his 401k is half of what it should be.

00:22:53:18 –> 00:23:32:04
Right. So she did tell me how, like they try to be very open about how this tag is basically just a 100% a fundraiser for AZ game and fish. And it helps them to prevent from having to raise tag prices and hunting license prices all the way across the board that doing it with this copper state draw. It’s a voluntary basis, you know. Yeah, yeah. And I mean it’s just like winning the lottery obviously. I mean, I couldn’t believe it. And you and I got, and you probably one of the most desirable tags of all of them.

00:23:32:06 –> 00:23:33:17
You got the elk, right? Yeah.

00:23:33:21 –> 00:23:34:23
You remember what units

00:23:35:01 –> 00:23:37:25
You got the cluster he’s gotta memorized, bro, there’s like 10 of

00:23:37:25 –> 00:24:23:03
Them. Yeah. So there’s two, there’s two different elk tags. And to be honest, when I put in for ’em, I thought I would want the other tag more, but, ’cause I, I, I know a little bit more about those other units. I actually had an elk tag in one of these units that I drew a few years ago. And during the elk, the rut hunt, there was just a lot of hunters. And I was in experience, it was my first elk tag here in Arizona and, and I didn’t really have too much fun to be honest, but I, it’s a conglomerate of units from, it’s like five unit, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 17, 18,

00:24:23:04 –> 00:24:23:13
All the

00:24:23:25 –> 00:24:26:05
17, 18, 19, yeah. 28.

00:24:26:24 –> 00:24:27:01
Yep.

00:24:27:15 –> 00:24:28:07
So it’s all those.

00:24:28:23 –> 00:24:34:03
Yep. You might spend some time in 15 or eight. I don’t know. Have you got a plan? Fives good.

00:24:34:08 –> 00:25:44:27
So, so man, I know a ton of people in the archery and the hunting community. I’m pretty active in like target archery out here and I work, or I shoot with a bunch of guys that are, I mean some of the biggest guides in the state that have taken several auction tags and I’m, one of my best friends is the manager over at Arizona Archery Club. And so I know a lot of people that have a, can pull a lot of strings in the industry. And I’ve had several different people reaching out to me, telling me where I should start, that they have experience in these areas that were more than happy to point me in the right direction or even take me with them. I’ve even had a guide reach out to me and say, Hey, I’d be willing to help you free of charge. I want to help you kill a giant. Just because a friend of mine is friends with him and told him that I’m as gungho as it comes when it comes to archery hunting. And he, he, this guy that called me was like, he’s like, I would love to have a real killer out here to put down a giant bull.

00:25:45:00 –> 00:25:51:19
Well, and you’re, you’re sounds like you’re gonna self-impose, you’re gonna hunt with a bow even though you can shoot anything you want. You’re a bow hunter. Oh yeah.

00:25:52:03 –> 00:25:58:04
Oh yeah. Definitely. I’ve never, I’ve, I’ve never taken a, any big game animals with a rifle.

00:25:58:15 –> 00:26:00:12
Right. Isn’t the season dates like August 1st?

00:26:00:29 –> 00:26:01:25
I what your date?

00:26:01:25 –> 00:26:02:13
August 15th.

00:26:02:13 –> 00:26:03:13
15th to

00:26:03:13 –> 00:26:03:23
October.

00:26:04:03 –> 00:26:05:27
So October 15th. Wow.

00:26:07:11 –> 00:26:18:06
Yeah, it’s pretty crazy. Yeah. This is an opportunity for some of these guides to kill a governor type bull in one of these units that aren’t necessarily known for it, but they would, you know, like to have that opportunity or something like that, you know, just

00:26:18:10 –> 00:26:23:17
Might be hunting ’em water where they’ve been summering all year and killing on the water riding these up actually. Yeah.

00:26:24:07 –> 00:27:05:09
The guy, the guy I’ve been talking to, he was telling me that like three years ago they killed a four 30 in one of these units on the governor’s or the commissioner’s tag one of those. Wow. And last year he said he was watching two bulls that are just absolute giants. He said a few of the spots he’s thinking about really pounding. He said it really depends on the, the moisture at that exact time of year, he said, ’cause the, the bulls come into this area because there’s water there. But if it rains like this same week that my hunt starts, well then we’ll kind of be up a creek from that area. Water. Yeah. Right.

00:27:05:22 –> 00:27:22:09
Geez. Well man, this is awesome. Well, you’re living, you sound living and breathing. I don’t think you’re an AI generated person, so congratulations. Right. You’re, you’re making a believer out of us finally that works are real people for that calls. We’d like to maybe, maybe a story from you when you get done. It’d be awesome.

00:27:23:12 –> 00:27:26:22
Yeah, dude, I hopefully I have an awesome story to tell,

00:27:28:00 –> 00:27:30:08
Man. I’m jealous. Oh yeah. Just,

00:27:30:10 –> 00:28:27:26
Yeah. I’m, I’m so lucky, man. I, I almost didn’t buy the ta or put in for the copper stage draw too. I just, it was like the second to last day before they closed it and I got an email saying it’s about to close. I’m like, I’ve done it every year in the past, but lately I’ve been putting in like as hard as I can on all the raffles. I went to the Elk Society banquet and spent like 300 bucks on raffle tickets. Didn’t win nothing. I went, I’ve been buying the raffles for the Arizona Deer Association, haven’t won nothing. So I, I went and looked at the, I just clicked on the link for the Copper State draw and was looking at the tags. I’m like, ah, man, I’d really like to have that tag and this one and this one. And I, I didn’t even do the antelope or the one of the deer tags, but I put in for four of the six and I got drawn for the, probably arguably the best one. Yeah.

00:28:27:29 –> 00:28:30:04
Pretty awesome. It is. Well,

00:28:30:06 –> 00:28:39:00
Pretty awesome. It’s crazy. It’s crazy. I, it’d be nice if I could call my boss and just have like three months off work.

00:28:41:21 –> 00:28:44:12
Well, if you guys have a baby or something, you could

00:28:45:12 –> 00:28:47:02
Yeah. Right.

00:28:48:09 –> 00:28:49:25
Yeah. Can’t say no to that.

00:28:50:21 –> 00:28:50:27
No.

00:28:52:08 –> 00:28:52:16
Well

00:28:52:22 –> 00:29:02:25
I, I mean, my boss is my brother-in-law and I’m sure he would, he would work with me on anything I wanted to do. It’d just be, wouldn’t be easy for him. And yeah. And

00:29:03:17 –> 00:29:04:09
I’m sure you’ll get in

00:29:04:13 –> 00:29:17:20
Of time. I’ll get, I’m gonna get a lot of time off for sure. And I got from August to October, so I feel like that’s plenty of time to, with the help that everyone’s gonna be giving me and stuff, I think I’m gonna be all right. Yeah,

00:29:18:06 –> 00:29:25:19
I think you’re gonna do great. We’re excited for you. I hope you kill an absolute monster. Thanks is awesome. Thanks for instilling a little belief in the system for us all.

00:29:25:24 –> 00:29:32:16
Hey, you know what? There is a lot of talk about, I’ve never known personally anybody that drew this tag and

00:29:32:26 –> 00:29:33:28
Kind of where I’m going. Yeah,

00:29:34:11 –> 00:29:34:20
It’s

00:29:34:22 –> 00:29:35:15
Neither have we.

00:29:35:18 –> 00:29:57:16
It’s pretty crazy. I couldn’t believe it. I even, we have a group chat with several of my buddies that, that shoot archery with me and hunt and stuff. And I just, first people I, I texted in that group, I said, boys, I drew the copper state draw and they all are just saying bull crap dude. Yeah. Bull crap. Send me a picture. It didn’t happen. I’m like, I swear dude.

00:29:59:13 –> 00:29:59:21
Well,

00:30:00:14 –> 00:30:17:00
Okay. Pretty, pretty unbelievable. If you hear of any other copper state draw tags, let us know. You’ve got my number and we’d, now that you’re out there and we haven’t, you know, disclosed any of your identity or anything like that. Like some guys just wanna go hunt in peace and whatnot. But, but anyway, we’re excited for you. So

00:30:17:15 –> 00:30:29:08
Right on. Hey, I appreciate it. I I, I don’t think anyone’s mad at me for drawing it, but No, everyone wish everyone wishes they had this opportunity, man. Right.

00:30:29:15 –> 00:30:37:25
Jealous. But we’re actually just about a little bit of belief in, in a system that we thought was, we knew it was, we knew it was to raise money, but you can raise money and not give tags

00:30:37:25 –> 00:30:49:07
Either. It’s slightly janky. Yeah, it’s slightly janky. You go onto their website, you, you don’t go into it even portal. You gotta go type in your address as if you’re an, you know, non-resident alien that’s never applied in Arizona before. They don’t have

00:30:49:08 –> 00:30:55:27
Well, and you can’t, oh, I, I forgot to apply for this. I’m gonna go back. No, you had your one chance to apply for the tags one and done. Right. You’re

00:30:55:27 –> 00:30:57:08
In there. Go back in and add,

00:30:57:12 –> 00:31:01:06
Add a deer or a couse or Right. It’s just kind of a different deal.

00:31:01:22 –> 00:31:24:25
Yeah. I don’t know, like a couple months ago they did a different, it was some type of draw, I want to say it was like on the Hopi reservation or something like that. Something for some special tags. And I click on the link for it and it takes me to the website and the thumbnail picture on, or the main page of the website. It was a picture of a red stag.

00:31:25:06 –> 00:31:25:14
Yeah.

00:31:26:12 –> 00:31:28:11
I’m like, what the hell? Like, well these people,

00:31:28:21 –> 00:31:43:18
Well don’t even know what it is. I’ve heard, I’ve heard those are taken over in Arizona. I dunno where they came from. Especially the Yeah. But they are taking over and they’re rooting the elk out. They, the hybrids, if you get a red stack and an elk hybrid down there, that’s a rare deal. Yeah, it

00:31:43:18 –> 00:31:45:06
Is. That’d be something else. Yeah.

00:31:45:16 –> 00:32:00:13
So. Alright. Okay. Well sounds good. We’ll let you get back at it. Appreciate you taking some time. It’s pretty fun. We’re excited. Anyway, just, it’s fun to have you on the, on the podcast and, and discuss it. Yes sir. Let’s, maybe we’ll have you back on after you slam that giant.

00:32:01:02 –> 00:32:04:15
Sounds good man. Good luck. I’ll be more than happy to tell you this story. Good

00:32:04:15 –> 00:32:06:02
Luck. Good luck Taylor. Talk to you later.

00:32:06:02 –> 00:32:18:23
Thank you. You bet. Thanks. Bye. There you have it. It happens. It happens. Devon, it was not you. It wasn’t me. Yeah. Darn. You can call that number back. We might got it in the states. Winner did. I did. I did.

00:32:21:00 –> 00:32:28:15
I told you it rang 26 times and I just hung up. I gave up. You’re on their list forever. Forever now. For a 6 0 2 number. Yes. Awesome.

00:32:28:25 –> 00:32:34:11
Good for him man. Well what else? Pretty fun. Speaking of drawing tags, how’d every prayer this week

00:32:35:10 –> 00:32:36:24
Wa wa some better than others?

00:32:37:24 –> 00:32:39:02
Well, well I would say one

00:32:39:19 –> 00:32:45:25
Others, one better than others. Let’s just say that. Deon’s gonna put his fierce rifle to use.

00:32:46:21 –> 00:32:49:04
Yeah. Rifle tag.

00:32:49:14 –> 00:32:52:27
Yeah. You got a rifle tag and you also probably put your hoy to use

00:32:53:11 –> 00:32:53:29
Maybe. So.

00:32:55:01 –> 00:32:56:24
Wow. Geez, geez.

00:32:56:27 –> 00:32:58:07
Deon. I saw share

00:32:58:11 –> 00:32:58:19
With

00:32:58:19 –> 00:33:06:09
The rest of us. Geez. Well any elaboration you want just orex. We’ll turn this

00:33:06:09 –> 00:33:09:19
Over here. Orex. I can’t read his face. Are we gonna go ahead and disclose? Yeah.

00:33:09:19 –> 00:33:10:04
What species?

00:33:10:08 –> 00:33:12:21
You’re gonna pressure me into it anyway. Well it’s gonna,

00:33:13:07 –> 00:33:15:09
If got covered already.

00:33:15:27 –> 00:33:21:23
Yeah, that’s why I’m here. No, I got off range ORs and super excited. Yeah,

00:33:21:26 –> 00:33:22:09
That’s

00:33:22:09 –> 00:33:28:05
Cool. Third, third choice. I, I mean I even went in for the broken horn. Three-legged cow tag, you

00:33:28:05 –> 00:33:31:03
Know. Did you? Yeah, cow calf. He’s heard,

00:33:31:13 –> 00:33:31:22
He’s

00:33:31:22 –> 00:33:32:15
Heard about just broken horn.

00:33:32:24 –> 00:33:33:22
He heard about that meat

00:33:34:10 –> 00:33:34:13
I

00:33:34:18 –> 00:33:36:15
Have. Oh it’s that horse meat’s amazing.

00:33:36:23 –> 00:33:37:28
I, I don’t know Adam,

00:33:38:28 –> 00:33:41:10
You don’t see me talking about it ’cause it’s pretty good.

00:33:42:00 –> 00:33:45:06
Hasn’t offered us any. Yeah, you remember that Kevin was like, Hey

00:33:45:06 –> 00:33:46:04
It’s not a thing. I said I’d

00:33:46:06 –> 00:33:48:29
I’m gonna have a baby. I’m gonna need extra protein. Bronson didn’t even say anything.

00:33:49:03 –> 00:33:49:29
I would’ve took a front shoulder.

00:33:50:21 –> 00:33:53:01
Oh you would’ve taken a hawk or anything?

00:33:54:18 –> 00:33:55:10
I don’t. I

00:33:55:10 –> 00:33:57:28
Don’t. I made ham Hammond beans outta the hawks.

00:33:58:00 –> 00:33:58:12
Really

00:34:00:26 –> 00:34:02:18
Had to soak the beans for 48 hours.

00:34:03:07 –> 00:34:04:12
Bone marrow broth. Yeah.

00:34:04:25 –> 00:34:05:11
I was talking to

00:34:05:11 –> 00:34:06:13
Wyatt horse head yesterday.

00:34:06:29 –> 00:34:21:13
Yesterday and I don’t know what it is, but New Mexico. And same with him. He was like, I don’t know why it is, but New Mexico is like one of the most exciting draw results there is to open an and I, I strictly think it’s because of the whole color thing. The green. I love the green. I don’t know why I wish other, all other states would go because

00:34:22:09 –> 00:34:25:01
Colorado came out with unsuccessful fairly, it’s totally legible.

00:34:26:04 –> 00:34:26:23
Accepted. It says

00:34:27:06 –> 00:34:30:05
Accepted. Well my email said unsuccessful. Yeah, but it

00:34:30:11 –> 00:34:31:11
Was, if you log in

00:34:31:11 –> 00:34:31:27
It’s tiny and tiny

00:34:32:07 –> 00:34:39:25
Log in unsuccessful is red. And the, and I had a guy send me his picture of sheep draws. It’s gray and it says accepted. He says, what does this mean? I says, it means

00:34:39:25 –> 00:34:43:21
You’re going, she, I wanna see balloons like happy birthday, I wanna see balloons and stars and

00:34:43:27 –> 00:34:47:25
I mean red is unsuccessful. What should accepted be

00:34:48:00 –> 00:34:55:21
Well and then with New Mexico you also, you see green and then you gotta figure out what choice it is. Yeah, absolutely. And then unless you have the code memorized, you got some scrambling,

00:34:55:21 –> 00:34:56:09
Which we don’t

00:34:57:17 –> 00:34:59:27
Scramble off the side of the highway and Yeah.

00:35:00:06 –> 00:35:05:25
Then you have female immature or something like that. You’re not getting a refund. No option

00:35:06:00 –> 00:35:07:17
A you’ve never heard of in your life. No.

00:35:07:24 –> 00:35:13:22
I wish all other states would go to just a green green light. You’re going, it’s pretty awesome. Yeah, because yeah, you’re trying to, what’s even on

00:35:13:22 –> 00:35:17:07
Those Colorado, Nevada does like a teal or yellow and teal or something like that.

00:35:17:13 –> 00:35:18:15
It’s teal greenish.

00:35:18:15 –> 00:35:21:22
Like they gotta have their own yellow is unsuccessful. Isn’t

00:35:21:22 –> 00:35:25:10
Think it? Or is that based off the programmer? What’s the yellow? The mood that he’s in.

00:35:25:12 –> 00:35:26:28
It’s, it highlights the unit. You have the,

00:35:27:03 –> 00:35:36:22
Could you imagine John doing the color coding for an epic winner? I mean it just depends on the day. Let’s turn him loose. He has a good time with AI doesn’t he? Josh? Yeah

00:35:36:22 –> 00:35:39:15
He does. Does a graphic designer with ai?

00:35:40:12 –> 00:35:49:21
No, I’m with, yeah the Colorado. I could, I had to like, I don’t even know where to look. You’re like scrolling ’cause it’s just an immediate thing. You know you’re trying to see un or successful as fast as you can.

00:35:49:21 –> 00:35:50:05
Yeah. And big and

00:35:50:05 –> 00:35:54:23
Big and it’s like size 10 font italicized. Like unsuccessful. Find it

00:35:54:23 –> 00:35:55:21
In the middle of the paragraph.

00:35:55:24 –> 00:35:56:12
Yeah, exactly.

00:35:56:28 –> 00:36:02:06
Or how about when you read an email and it cuts off? It breaks unsuccessful up into two words. That’s

00:36:02:15 –> 00:36:07:04
Cool. Dash. So there’s the guy that, this is the guy that sent me, you know that and wondered what that meant. Gray

00:36:07:14 –> 00:36:09:09
Doll. Gray. Wow Doll. Gray gun. Metal gray.

00:36:09:10 –> 00:36:09:23
Accept

00:36:09:24 –> 00:36:13:04
It looks like it’s just there like it hasn’t been but

00:36:13:06 –> 00:36:13:22
It says right

00:36:13:27 –> 00:36:14:22
Below it says you

00:36:14:22 –> 00:36:16:17
Would think it not they got my application.

00:36:16:22 –> 00:36:26:21
It says not awarded in red for mountain goat and the gray acceptance. He didn’t know what it meant. I’m like there’s just no enthusiasm with it. No. Like hey we’re gonna give you a sheep tag. Yeah, how about that? So

00:36:26:21 –> 00:36:28:21
Thanks New Mexico for making, making it is,

00:36:28:25 –> 00:36:35:24
It’s fun and it’s quick and easy. You just see red you so fast and you go back to work. Yes, that’s right. That’s all you need to worry about. Go back

00:36:35:24 –> 00:36:36:22
To checking all the other,

00:36:36:27 –> 00:36:39:25
Its out. I’m done cash and I’m moving on to know

00:36:39:25 –> 00:36:42:23
It is a dang good feeling to see some green I will say. Yeah.

00:36:43:06 –> 00:36:43:23
Must be nice.

00:36:44:18 –> 00:36:45:06
Be nice. We did see

00:36:45:24 –> 00:36:48:09
Last year we killed it with the tags this year. Geez. Like

00:36:48:10 –> 00:36:55:19
Why? It was the only one. No offense Logan, I don’t think you had one, but like I think Wyatt and Logan. How about that Last year I didn’t,

00:36:56:00 –> 00:37:00:28
I didn’t put in for New Mexico. We can’t talk about Wyatt ’cause we told him we wouldn’t. But yeah, he didn’t get a single draw tag into Mexico last year.

00:37:00:28 –> 00:37:02:21
He who remains to be unnamed. Yeah.

00:37:03:12 –> 00:37:07:27
Last year. This year there’s only one of us. But that’s just, there is talk. Yeah. I

00:37:07:27 –> 00:37:10:27
Could go we five years and not see green again. You just never know.

00:37:10:27 –> 00:37:24:13
Yeah, no you never know. We, it’s fun though. You know, we, we go and check a bunch of, of all our license application guys stuff and for ’em and it’s pretty dang fun to just continue to sit. Look, we had some, I remember a couple of those I checked there were significant. There was more green than red. It just like

00:37:24:23 –> 00:37:25:06
Four out

00:37:25:06 –> 00:37:25:28
Of were

00:37:25:28 –> 00:37:27:04
Green. Yes. Mind blowing.

00:37:27:09 –> 00:37:29:19
That one took a half hour to decipher. Yeah

00:37:29:19 –> 00:37:31:18
It did. Yeah. There’s some codes here.

00:37:31:27 –> 00:37:39:25
And then I, and then I had to prove on, you know, prove up on some texts and stuff. Like there’s just really, what what’s that? Yeah. How come

00:37:40:01 –> 00:37:42:06
I, how come you, how can you put, you put me for that.

00:37:42:26 –> 00:37:57:05
Okay. I’m just, I’m just the answer guide. Like I received a text from you. It’s fun. Anyway. Pretty fun. Yeah. But anyway, speaking of gun metal, boring gray. Let’s talk, let’s talk about fierce. That’s

00:37:57:05 –> 00:37:58:23
Not so boring. There’s a segue. Alright.

00:37:58:27 –> 00:38:38:09
Yeah. So anyway, wanna appreciate, throw a little shout out to fierce firearms long range shooting school on the back cover right here on April, 1995 per person. Anyway, Devin, they make some incredible firearms. You know, ’em intimately inside and out. Helped them back in the day quite a bit. Actually worked for ’em for quite some time. Great people, great products. Were killing stuff at long range left and right. Got multiple guns of theirs. I don’t know why I can’t say no, we just don’t. Bronson, have you ever said no to a fierce firearm? There’s rarely one that comes in the office that’s not getting worked over by Devin, Adam and 14 others that are wanting to tap it on the butt and making sure that

00:38:38:18 –> 00:38:39:00
I don’t recall.

00:38:39:00 –> 00:38:40:12
Everything’s tight and good and

00:38:40:21 –> 00:38:41:17
We like to look at ’em.

00:38:42:02 –> 00:38:42:23
Yeah. And

00:38:43:06 –> 00:38:46:11
My wife listens to the podcast and my answer to yours says I don’t recall.

00:38:46:28 –> 00:38:51:09
I do not recall. I do, I do not recall Janet edit them. I dare you. I do not recall. I dare you

00:38:51:09 –> 00:38:52:17
To pick up, pick up a gun

00:38:52:17 –> 00:38:54:27
And not run the bolt. It’s just, which is just have dis

00:38:56:01 –> 00:38:56:23
At least just once.

00:38:56:25 –> 00:38:57:22
Exactly. You

00:38:57:22 –> 00:38:58:01
Just have to

00:38:59:13 –> 00:39:02:23
And shoulder biggest green and shoulder it dry fire at once. Well

00:39:02:23 –> 00:39:11:10
We gotta do it. We’ve been getting them in for clients that have been ordering ’em. Yeah. It feels like we’ve shipped out one or two a week for the last little bit. So we get ’em in, look ’em over a bunch, ship ’em out.

00:39:11:10 –> 00:39:14:03
What do they do the shooting school then? What ranch do they do? Where do

00:39:14:03 –> 00:39:15:23
They That’s Mogul Fierce Ranch. Oh

00:39:15:23 –> 00:39:17:22
Am it? Yeah. Oh, okay. Mogul Fierce. That’s

00:39:17:22 –> 00:39:26:16
Looks like they got a long range shooting school coming up and day two day class. The first day is your classroom and, and a little bit of range and then day two you burn some powder. Yeah,

00:39:26:18 –> 00:39:26:27
Good.

00:39:27:02 –> 00:39:28:10
And put it implement all.

00:39:28:10 –> 00:39:32:24
Didn’t stuff didn’t they? I was wondering when we were up there, don’t they have like this giant Sasquatch at like a thousand yards

00:39:32:24 –> 00:39:34:23
Or something Like big steel? They metal gongs and big

00:39:34:23 –> 00:39:36:17
Steel Sasquatch up there on the hill of my

00:39:36:17 –> 00:39:43:11
Life. I love the sound of steel on a crisp morning. I do too. Like a thousand. It’s about what, three or four seconds after you touch one off.

00:39:43:11 –> 00:39:50:29
Especially when like they’re set up, you walk in the back room, shut the door, flip the light off. Oh It’ss nice. You shoot from the back window and pretty nice. Bring some gongs

00:39:51:04 –> 00:39:55:09
Out of the wind. Yep. There’s no sun in your eyes. But that’s not

00:39:55:13 –> 00:39:57:23
Eat a peanut donut and chill out. Huh?

00:39:58:00 –> 00:39:59:07
Burn some powder. Yeah.

00:39:59:07 –> 00:40:07:15
That’s pretty awesome. Yeah. Anyway, anybody that’s interested, call ’em at (435) 462-0040 or [email protected]. Yeah,

00:40:07:15 –> 00:40:09:29
They’ll have a couple of different dates I’m sure.

00:40:11:20 –> 00:40:12:25
Alright. Okay.

00:40:12:28 –> 00:40:16:12
Where are we going to? Wow. What we some Q and a maybe. I don’t know. We finish

00:40:16:12 –> 00:40:23:21
Off. We’re gonna do that. We also, what have we been doing? Let’s see, we crushed a magazine. We’ve also looked up some draw results and then we’ve got a lot coming up too.

00:40:24:12 –> 00:40:25:07
A whole lot. There’s

00:40:25:07 –> 00:40:26:19
Just a time right

00:40:26:23 –> 00:40:28:19
Now. It, it comes at you fast this time of year.

00:40:28:22 –> 00:40:30:12
April April’s unbelievable. We’ve

00:40:30:12 –> 00:40:31:13
Had Montana, New Mexico.

00:40:31:20 –> 00:40:59:05
Yeah, we’ve Colorado. You Utah, do on the 24th, Kansas, 25th, Wyoming, sheep, goat, moose, bison on the 30th. Idaho. Sheep, goat, moose on the 30th as well of April. So, and then Montana, sheep, goat, moose, bison in May one, Nevada, may seven. We’ll be talking to them. Excited to visit with them. Everything they’ve got going. Dude, we freaking froze last night. I had frost on the windshield. I had to, so I turned my water in trying to be the, you know, husband of the year.

00:40:59:09 –> 00:40:59:29
Irrigation.

00:41:00:00 –> 00:41:00:28
You turned your water on

00:41:01:23 –> 00:41:06:01
Into the system, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Like just, and and takes a 14 foot key and like

00:41:06:01 –> 00:41:07:23
A got a go and it with 70 something

00:41:07:23 –> 00:41:14:00
Degrees. A big bow in the pipe. Pipe settling. Well greatest kid floods the great flood. 2023.

00:41:14:06 –> 00:41:15:06
I’ve heard about this when

00:41:15:06 –> 00:41:23:28
We built the house. When we built the house, I used pipe that wasn’t PVC. It was like corrugated, corrugated plastic. No,

00:41:23:28 –> 00:41:24:22
It’s in a C shape

00:41:25:00 –> 00:41:27:09
And yeah it is. It’s a little bit of a C shape. Like you

00:41:27:09 –> 00:41:29:17
Mean like just the gutter too? You mean like the black gutter too?

00:41:29:21 –> 00:41:29:28
Yes,

00:41:30:01 –> 00:41:30:10
It’s,

00:41:31:01 –> 00:41:31:27
Yes. Turn your water.

00:41:32:03 –> 00:41:36:05
It was like, and it’s super tall and I’m like, oh yeah, this’ll be fine. They’re like, ah, this’ll be fine.

00:41:37:04 –> 00:41:39:18
Couple earthquakes and floods after. And it’s

00:41:39:29 –> 00:42:04:19
14 earthquakes later and a flood. And I, and I’ve got, anyway, I’ve got this sea, it’s, I can see the ear of that stop and waste or whatever it is. Barely. Yeah, that much. I grabbed the ear of it, turned it in. I’m like, Hey, if I can do that two times a year for the rest of my life, we’re good. And anyway, got it turned in. Everything was great. Green up the lawn. I’m outta of the year husband of the year.

00:42:04:21 –> 00:42:07:21
There’s a storm at 23, 24 degrees for two morning in a,

00:42:07:25 –> 00:42:30:03
I’m scheduled for 24. I’m like, and there’s so much above ground piping and stuff. You’re just like, yeah I gotta, I gotta air it out. So blew it out last night in the rain and sleet. In the rain, man. Oh I mean you, when you’re a man, you’re a man. It’s easier to do that. You gotta do man stuff. Easier to do that though, right? Logan? Find leaks when you’re a man, you’re a man. I know that. Well the

00:42:30:03 –> 00:42:31:10
Manly one here probably.

00:42:32:10 –> 00:42:33:25
Wow. Oh

00:42:34:03 –> 00:42:37:23
Weren’t we just saying before this that you were a guppy? A guppy. Piranha

00:42:39:03 –> 00:42:39:10
Py.

00:42:39:10 –> 00:42:44:06
Well right before that you claim to be a beta fish. So I’ll take guppy. Piranha. No, you told me I was a beta fish.

00:42:44:25 –> 00:42:47:25
Oh, now we got Bronson, we’ve got two gen Zs fighting, doing

00:42:49:00 –> 00:42:49:13
Rags. That’s

00:42:49:22 –> 00:42:51:12
Up. I’m not a Gen ZI told you

00:42:51:12 –> 00:42:58:01
Prove he’s claiming he’s a millennial and depends on which AI search you do. He’s on the verge of millennial or Gen Z. He’s making that distinction. It’s like

00:42:58:13 –> 00:42:59:19
I’m, and I’m not a guppy.

00:42:59:28 –> 00:43:01:09
I am not a guppy.

00:43:01:15 –> 00:43:04:28
Not a guppy. It’s like when you’ve seen my yard, not

00:43:04:28 –> 00:43:08:19
A G press. You can run heavy machinery. Logan, have you ever run heavy machinery?

00:43:09:00 –> 00:43:09:18
Once or twice.

00:43:11:20 –> 00:43:11:29
Okay.

00:43:12:05 –> 00:43:13:19
I did it once or twice before I was eight.

00:43:15:00 –> 00:43:17:13
I beat, I believe that I did that cash grew

00:43:17:13 –> 00:43:20:00
Up on a farm. I can’t beat hard to beat that. I

00:43:20:00 –> 00:43:21:07
Can’t beat Cassius skid steers

00:43:21:07 –> 00:43:26:19
Skills. I’ll give him that. I, no, he’s too good. I can do it. I can run it. He did, he did. It was interesting. Cash.

00:43:27:10 –> 00:43:28:09
I did smash a fence.

00:43:29:04 –> 00:43:37:06
I was just wondering how my skids doing when you got it back. Yeah, well I was like, you know, what could he do? Well he’s gonna take out his house. He, you know, the skid taken out

00:43:37:06 –> 00:43:38:07
Ski stronger than that. So,

00:43:38:12 –> 00:43:44:22
And if you do put it on its side, I mean I, I don’t know, might have to deal with some oil. I don’t know. You know what I mean?

00:43:44:24 –> 00:43:45:29
Fluids that go into different

00:43:46:02 –> 00:43:49:24
Like reservoirs that aren’t supposed cash’s. Like I did take out my back fence and I’m like really?

00:43:50:03 –> 00:43:51:21
Yeah. But it was, it was a blessing.

00:43:52:02 –> 00:43:54:25
Yeah. It turned, it turned out that he was being watched over. Yeah, go ahead.

00:43:55:02 –> 00:44:00:16
Yeah, so I, I backed into the fence and just bumped it and it’s just plastic white fence. It just popped the, yeah

00:44:00:16 –> 00:44:01:17
But like out, this

00:44:01:17 –> 00:44:06:13
Is not cheap. So we just pulled it all together, pulled it all out, then pulled the trailer around. It was way more convenient

00:44:06:13 –> 00:44:09:27
Than front. He actually started using the big, using the big hole, gaping hole gate. Driving

00:44:09:27 –> 00:44:12:27
Gate through the neighbor. Driving through the neighbor’s yard. Into your yard you

00:44:12:27 –> 00:44:13:29
Mean? No, just in the back.

00:44:14:15 –> 00:44:16:01
The back is like, it’s just a big,

00:44:16:08 –> 00:44:16:15
It

00:44:16:15 –> 00:44:17:22
Is a neighbor. Somebody owns that.

00:44:17:26 –> 00:44:19:24
It will be, it’s deed probably a house there eventually. It

00:44:19:27 –> 00:44:20:12
Is deeded ground.

00:44:20:12 –> 00:44:26:11
Yeah it is deed ground. It’s, yeah. And he’s back there just owning it anyway and then put it back together. You couldn’t even tell, couldn’t

00:44:26:11 –> 00:44:28:04
Even tell. No. Not even. Not even a scratch.

00:44:28:06 –> 00:44:30:09
Grab some topsoil while you’re back there. Bring it in.

00:44:30:10 –> 00:44:31:19
No, actually brought in some,

00:44:32:01 –> 00:44:35:19
I brought in, I brought in some road base and some chat and stuff and

00:44:36:04 –> 00:44:37:11
Anyway, so for gravel,

00:44:37:11 –> 00:44:50:10
That’s man stuff. Yeah. I had to get rid of the, it was like four inch crush rock all in the back. Had to remove all that and it was way deeper than I thought. And then had to bring in, how’d I bring in? Seven ton or something of, of road base. That’s mans stuff.

00:44:50:10 –> 00:44:54:23
Fill in stuff. Well that is mans stuff ’cause he’s doing it on a house. He owns Logan. How are you doing on your yard?

00:44:55:06 –> 00:44:56:21
The house right across the street from him.

00:44:57:22 –> 00:44:57:29
The

00:44:57:29 –> 00:45:05:29
House. The house right across the street from him is up for rent. I almost, I almost sent him a screenshot of it. I think that’d be his worst nightmare. Logan,

00:45:06:02 –> 00:45:06:09
Me

00:45:06:09 –> 00:45:08:28
And my roommates moving in across as you guys mean

00:45:08:28 –> 00:45:10:17
You guys are already within blocks of each other.

00:45:10:28 –> 00:45:12:01
I, within yard I’d get one

00:45:12:03 –> 00:45:15:25
Of those Airsoft guns and I’d post up in my front window and I’d just plunk him right as soon as he walked

00:45:15:28 –> 00:45:16:07
The door.

00:45:16:27 –> 00:45:19:07
Logan makes his bed and thinks it’s a win for the

00:45:19:07 –> 00:45:19:25
Day. Oh yeah.

00:45:20:00 –> 00:45:20:12
I made my

00:45:20:12 –> 00:45:20:18
Bed

00:45:20:18 –> 00:45:22:10
Today. Logan. Do you even make your bed? No,

00:45:23:09 –> 00:45:25:18
I too new it. I’m too busy doing man stuff to do that

00:45:26:17 –> 00:45:40:27
When he says man stuff. Could you guys remember truck like when you were hunting elk and there’s like all the bulls are over here fighting and cows are all around and there’s like two spikes over the side. Just like eating every now and then and Exactly. That’s the kind of man, somebody’s

00:45:40:27 –> 00:45:42:13
Gotta keep watch over the herd. Yeah.

00:45:42:28 –> 00:45:43:16
You’ve got the

00:45:43:16 –> 00:45:46:17
Sheep and you’ve got the wolves, and then you’ve got the sheep dogs. And that’s

00:45:46:24 –> 00:45:50:25
Who saved you on your tires when you had some tire janky tire issues. A man daddy,

00:45:50:25 –> 00:45:52:00
Jason. I would’ve found it eventually.

00:45:52:00 –> 00:45:52:25
Grandpa, Jason,

00:45:52:27 –> 00:45:57:13
Papa Jason. Yep. I I threw out his back having changed tires

00:45:57:15 –> 00:45:58:06
For me. Yeah.

00:45:58:12 –> 00:46:05:04
I mean, I went out there and there was two off-colored log nuts. And I, that’s may or may not have offended someone when I said That’s janky.

00:46:05:06 –> 00:46:06:19
Yeah. He did not like that,

00:46:08:24 –> 00:46:11:03
Dude. I thought they were quite nice. I was like, oh, sorry.

00:46:11:19 –> 00:46:19:16
Oh, so funny. So funny. Cash. Have you ever had trouble putting on tires? No. Logan, have you ever had trouble putting on tires?

00:46:19:20 –> 00:46:23:18
Have you ever seen those stupid plastic rings before? I’ve never seen them in my life.

00:46:23:18 –> 00:46:27:05
Little spacer. Well, and they were on wrong. Somehow they were. So

00:46:27:07 –> 00:46:28:09
That was my fault because I didn’t

00:46:28:09 –> 00:46:30:10
Remove the spacer. And Are you happier? I’m very

00:46:30:10 –> 00:46:34:04
Happy. So what, so how do we find that out though? Let’s, let’s hear that. Well, we took it off. The driving was just

00:46:34:06 –> 00:46:36:17
Wobbling. Who’s we? Oh, who’s we? Oh yeah, it was

00:46:36:27 –> 00:46:44:11
Wobbling. I took a video of it and everyone’s like, you got scammed. He sent you a bent rim. And I’m like, it’s in perfect condition. I could see if it was mashed or something.

00:46:44:16 –> 00:46:53:10
So he comes, he asks, who for rent cash me the man with a truck? The man. That’s right. And then I’m like, okay, you’re not a man if you don’t have a truck here at the office, let’s go get your truck.

00:46:54:19 –> 00:47:06:17
We, we, we thought that it was the scam of the century. Oh. I’m like, this guy not only came, brought his truck to Logan to put the tires from Logan’s truck onto his truck and then just drive off. They,

00:47:06:20 –> 00:47:07:04
They did

00:47:07:05 –> 00:47:14:07
A swap. The guy was out there with his hands in his pockets watching Logan, watching Logan moving tires from one truck to the other. The guy just gets in and drives off. Really? That’s,

00:47:14:09 –> 00:47:15:01
Did he help you at all?

00:47:16:08 –> 00:47:17:03
He got his tires

00:47:17:07 –> 00:47:17:13
Off.

00:47:18:00 –> 00:47:23:03
Yeah. And then, and then one of ’em is made possibly meant, I’m like, that was the scam. The

00:47:23:08 –> 00:47:25:22
Yeah, he did, he would’ve done it good if it would’ve been a scam. Where did

00:47:25:22 –> 00:47:26:21
You meet him? Like in public

00:47:26:21 –> 00:47:28:04
Place? Right here. Oh.

00:47:28:07 –> 00:47:31:03
That’s what happens when you call back a three oh eight number right there.

00:47:32:12 –> 00:47:35:04
The Nigerian print shows up to get new tires put on his truck.

00:47:37:07 –> 00:47:39:07
You know what? Hey, they ride real nice. Now. He

00:47:39:07 –> 00:47:42:01
Did, he did ask to borrow my floor Jack. And yeah,

00:47:42:13 –> 00:47:54:17
I, well, I texted him a few days before it happened and I’m like, I’m gonna try and do this with the handyman Jack. And he type No, no, Don, geez. I was just headed and he thought I was gonna be crushed under a truck. Well, you

00:47:54:17 –> 00:47:56:11
Would’ve loie bear with a handyman. We,

00:47:56:19 –> 00:47:58:00
I wasn’t gonna do handyman.

00:47:58:10 –> 00:47:59:06
That’s why you call a joke.

00:47:59:09 –> 00:48:01:29
We were worried about the handyman going through a fender. Not you under it.

00:48:02:02 –> 00:48:02:19
I’ve done that too.

00:48:03:19 –> 00:48:04:19
That was the least of our

00:48:04:19 –> 00:48:06:01
Worries. All moving right along.

00:48:06:12 –> 00:48:15:06
And I just wanna say one last thing. If you live in western Nebraska, I’m sorry, that’s where 3 0 8 is. I’m sorry. But, but hey, we’re just making fun of you today. Looked it up. It’s

00:48:15:09 –> 00:48:15:28
’cause you called Devon.

00:48:16:18 –> 00:48:19:05
I am. I have never been the question reader guy, but I, should

00:48:19:05 –> 00:48:31:19
I be that today? Yes, I think you should. And and there’s some that we covered, some that we haven’t. This if you can’t read. Oh yeah. There was a guy that asked right here how to pick a good guy and I thought that’d be good for Devin. Okay. Yeah. We could start off with that. And

00:48:31:20 –> 00:48:34:22
How do we vet, how do we vet here?

00:48:34:24 –> 00:48:43:18
How do we vet out a good outfitter? Good question. Obviously we do that here. You could call here and we’re not gonna send you on some janky expedition. Yeah. But did you just go

00:48:43:18 –> 00:48:45:23
To chat GBT Devin and call it a day? What do you do?

00:48:46:02 –> 00:49:02:18
No, I Or do you just Google most outfit? Most of the guys, I mean, it’s, the hunting world’s a pretty small world. Most of the guys we hear about are from clients that have hunted with them. And we, yeah. We talk to ’em, we get references. I mean it’s a, it’s a long term process I feel like with outfitters. Yeah. You know, it’s not

00:49:03:26 –> 00:49:05:16
Yeah. It’s relationship based.

00:49:05:19 –> 00:49:06:15
Exactly. Yep.

00:49:06:29 –> 00:49:09:22
There’s trust. There’s a lot of trust when we’re sending people to,

00:49:09:28 –> 00:49:27:23
And, and you have to portray that. You have to explain that to people how, you know, how long you’ve worked with these guys or their operation. ’cause they don’t know who they are. Right. You know, so picking a good outfitter. Yeah. It’s, it’s important. And I mean, geez, we, we’ve given out so many this week. It’s just been crazy. It’s fun. It is fun. Yeah.

00:49:28:07 –> 00:49:28:22
Yeah. It’s

00:49:28:22 –> 00:49:39:24
Fun. But for people individually, like having a conversation goes a long ways. Yeah. If you’re just emailing or, or things like that. It’s, it’s good to talk on the phone. I really believe that’s, that’s

00:49:40:01 –> 00:49:40:17
I think the

00:49:40:17 –> 00:49:41:00
Best first

00:49:41:00 –> 00:50:08:07
Step. There’s some guys that are, that jive with an outfitter better than another. So it could be a reputable outfitter, but maybe he’s all business. Like we have outfitters that are really good businessmen. And guys, some guys like that. And then there’s some guys that aren’t great businessmen, but they’re just super personable. They’re fun in the field. Maybe slightly disorganized, but it acts, it, it adds to the whole experience. Oh, it’s, know what I mean? It’s important. Yeah. And maybe, you know, they’re great glasser and they’ve got a, a great knack for finding games.

00:50:08:07 –> 00:50:11:29
Nobody wants to help somebody who just sits there and doesn’t talk for five days. You know what I

00:50:11:29 –> 00:50:18:22
Mean? Yeah. But that guy that doesn’t talk maybe a great businessman and may know exactly what he’s doing. He just, he just different personality. Right.

00:50:18:22 –> 00:50:57:22
Yeah. I think it’s great too is like, we don’t just, you know, say you draw a tag, whether you license application a member or whatever, somebody we’re helping with, we don’t just say like, Hey, number so and so and so and so, we’re going to put you with them. You know, Devon’s really big on, he wants that guy to call and talk that outfitter because we want you to be able to help decide does this sound right for me? Yeah. You know, and, and I think that’s important too, to be able to actually talk to that outfitter yourself and, and learn some things about them and to decide. And we can generally give you a couple different options. And Devin does a great job with that. Helping guys out, giving ’em several of options and then letting them choose, you know, we’re not just saying, Hey, we’re booking you with this guy or going have a good day. You

00:50:57:22 –> 00:51:00:25
Know, or I’ll tell you about your outfitter here in a month or two. Go ahead and send it deposit. Yeah.

00:51:00:25 –> 00:51:11:29
There’s some situations you tell a guy like, look, you know, the, this particular outfitter, this is his baby, this unit is, he wants you to call him. I promise. Yeah. And this is why know,

00:51:12:00 –> 00:51:15:13
He, he cannot wait to talk to you. Exactly. You or the guy he’s been waiting to you

00:51:15:13 –> 00:51:24:04
Talk from the Mexico comes to mind. ’cause that just came out and there’s, you know, you can get permits everywhere, but each, each outfitter has their own baby unit, like their place.

00:51:24:15 –> 00:51:36:13
Well, especially in states like Colorado, Idaho, Montana, on forest permits, on permit. It’s not like, Hey, there’s a, there’s five awesome deer outfitters that crush the whole state. Like, you know, maybe other states are. Yeah.

00:51:37:14 –> 00:51:57:11
And I think another thing is for people is be be patient. You know, the time of year when these results come out. If a guy doesn’t call you back in five minutes, I mean, he’s, he’s, he’s, it’s a busy time of year for these outfitters, so be a little patient. But yeah, I did Don’t don’t let that ruin your first impression just right off the bat. I mean, yeah, it happens, but it’s busy for them too. They take a lot of calls this time of year. I did

00:51:57:11 –> 00:52:45:18
Have a guy call about, oh, a Nevada guy draw. And so with, with the guy draw, like, you’re locked. You know, if you’re gonna go hunting, you’re gonna go with that guy and, and you can’t go without going guided and all of those things. And so, you know, I think sometimes the outfitters are a little bit lax on I’ll get with him. Like, I’ve got him top of mind, we’re good. You know, but the, the clients are like, man, I haven’t heard from this guy in six and a half days, you know, or whatever. Yeah. And they’re nervous, right? Yeah. Like, everybody wants to know like, Hey, I drew this tag and I’ve got this excitement and they kind of want to hear from the outfit. Or the outfitter’s excited for me too. He’s excited. Like, we’ll be, this is gonna be awesome. And, and so anyway, there’s gotta be, and I’m like, don’t worry, he’s great outfitter. Like you will be in contact with you. In fact, I’ll, I’ll help that along. And so, so anyway, there’s a little give and take. Just be slightly patient like you said. Yep.

00:52:46:04 –> 00:52:56:05
And like I said, I think communication is key to most of those things. And it’s, phone calls are definitely the best way to check all the boxes you’re looking for in the hunt, really. It’s, it really is.

00:52:56:09 –> 00:53:16:12
There’s some clients that are really, really, really particular on what they eat and what they drink and when. Yeah. They, they, you know, if you can be the client that’s a little, that rolls with the punches a little bit and just goes with, this is the outfitters program, just go roll with him a little bit. There might be some things I’m not saying if you’re allergic to peanuts to eat peanuts, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying, eat the peanut,

00:53:16:26 –> 00:53:18:19
Eat the peanut. That’s what you got.

00:53:19:20 –> 00:53:26:16
Who doesn’t eat peanut butter? You know? And so I’m not saying that, but just roll with it. I mean, mean just have a good time. Yeah.

00:53:27:00 –> 00:54:25:09
So, well this is, I’ve got a question along these lines that somebody sent in Timmy Peterson with a z Good question to ask an outfitter when vetting them for a hunt. You know, and this says specifically years in advance. But, but let’s just, let’s just talk about that, Devin, because Yeah, it does. There are many cases that you give an outfitter. We all give outfitters out here. There may be two or three or four or five. Sometimes they’re really good for the unit that you drew. There’s sometimes, like you said, there’s clearly one or two that that is their baby. They love it. But how do you, how do you vet apart vet? Maybe a couple apart for you. It’s a little bit unique. Like you said, personal. A guy likes to have three staples a day. He likes to be back by dark. ’cause he is afraid of the dark. I don’t wanna be kept after that. That happens. I know there’s, there’s different, all kinds of weird things like that. But what are some good questions to ask an outfitter? Let’s talk about just from a, like how do you vet someone out? Or maybe it’s even a hunt that you do up in Canada somewhere, Alaska, and you’re trying to decide between three or four doll sheep, outfitters and they’re all good. For

00:54:25:09 –> 00:54:39:00
Example, Devin, for example. Devin, you’re looking at going on a hunt with an outfitter kay up in Canada. Possibly. What questions do you, would you ask? What, let’s just take it like, think about that in your mind. Yeah. What am I gonna ask?

00:54:39:21 –> 00:54:48:04
I mean, I, you always wanna know how the year before went or, okay. This, that, and the other. I, it would be good if, if you could get a list of previous hunters, whether successful or not

00:54:48:10 –> 00:54:49:00
Recent. Yeah.

00:54:49:01 –> 00:54:58:01
You know, a lot of those guys that didn’t kill may have missed or had the time of their life and just, I can’t wait. Was really picky. Or, you know what, I got a buck. We let go, I’m gonna go back next year. I’m hunting that dude

00:54:58:03 –> 00:55:00:24
And I can’t wait to go back. Can’t wait to go back. That tells you just as much.

00:55:01:21 –> 00:55:14:18
I like talking to the unsuccessful guys. And a lot of the time, you know, most, most guys who give you a reference or or past hunters, they tell it like it is, they get it. They’ve been in your shoes. So it, that, that definitely is good to talk to past hunters.

00:55:14:24 –> 00:55:33:06
And then not all clients are created equals sometimes you’ll, you can read, read through the lines for sure. And you can tell this client’s a jerk. Well, and if he, and he’s like, yeah, I saw some big bucks, but geez, you know, I just felt like I should have killed one for 10 grand. I Yeah. Kind of. You know, and you’re like, okay, I can see how you didn’t harvest one. And anyway, you kinda,

00:55:33:09 –> 00:55:53:11
The, the other question I think is important for people, and it depends on the tag type, like Kansas, Iowa, even Wyoming deer’s, a good example of this is you, you, you may ask how if, if you want to be one of two guys or the only guy in camp, if that’s possible, you should ask how many clients already have booked. I think that’s a valid question and it’s a good question to ask

00:55:53:20 –> 00:55:56:13
And how Yeah. How many clients are gonna be in camp with me? Yeah.

00:55:56:26 –> 00:56:00:29
If that’s gonna bother you that there’s you’re one of eight, you may talk to somebody else.

00:56:00:29 –> 00:56:03:25
Yeah. But if you have 9,000 square miles, which some of these guys

00:56:04:12 –> 00:56:06:06
Ue white for hunting white tails in a stand

00:56:07:04 –> 00:56:07:24
That’s different than

00:56:07:27 –> 00:56:08:06
Have

00:56:08:06 –> 00:56:09:11
Outfitters. I drew, I’ve

00:56:09:11 –> 00:56:11:00
Got 23 stands and six clients.

00:56:11:05 –> 00:56:15:28
Then I drew a gon archery and, and I’m talking, somebody already has three guys booked ahead of me and I’m the fourth.

00:56:16:01 –> 00:56:22:06
That’s a good, great example. I mean, sometimes Kansas Yeah, there’s 10 guys at camp, a dozen guys in camp, they have 80 farms.

00:56:22:14 –> 00:56:23:00
Yes. Yes.

00:56:24:04 –> 00:56:25:04
In Iowa tree, some of these

00:56:25:04 –> 00:56:25:12
Kids have

00:56:25:12 –> 00:56:26:12
70, 80 farms.

00:56:26:22 –> 00:56:29:21
You sit in one tree, you’re not, you’re not covered in glass and anything.

00:56:29:21 –> 00:56:37:15
Yeah. Don’t let that spook you. But if it is, if you do want to go with a smaller outfitter, that, if that’s important to you, that’s, that’s a question to ask. Communication

00:56:37:20 –> 00:57:03:09
Is a big deal. We’ve dealt with that a little bit. Lack of communication. It makes you nervous. Like I Yeah. As a client, I wanna know exactly. Like, come in on this day, we will be there at this time. This is what you’re gonna expect. You know, and so sometimes the outfitters just, they do this day in and day out year after year. And I can see it on the outfitter side too. Sometimes they just take it for granted. I told you to come in on this day. Yeah. But I’m, I mean there’s just a nervousness on the client side. Definitely.

00:57:03:09 –> 00:57:10:25
There’s definitely a balance of communication Yeah. On both ends. You don’t wanna overdo it either as a client, you don’t wanna drive the guy nuts and you know.

00:57:10:25 –> 00:57:20:09
Yeah. And then you gotta learn to kind of roll with what it is. Just because you have a communication that said this is gonna happen on such and such a day, or this is how it’s gonna go. Things could change between then running some weather,

00:57:20:09 –> 00:57:21:00
Get weather running into

00:57:21:11 –> 00:57:22:24
Whatever weather and you end up Yeah.

00:57:23:09 –> 00:57:33:25
Like most things, and especially booking hunts, it really, the, the, the, it comes down to communication. Anytime there’s a problem, that’s usually the root of the cause because of the problem. So yeah.

00:57:35:01 –> 00:57:36:25
Anything else there? Those are things,

00:57:37:15 –> 00:57:44:23
Questions. I think, you know, calibers and, and shot distances and all of these things are just normal things. Like, you know, tell me how do you

00:57:44:23 –> 00:57:46:00
Guys go, what do I need to bring, you know,

00:57:46:00 –> 00:57:51:29
What’s my day gonna look like? And then that way, yes. Do I need a heater, bodysuit? Yeah. You know how cold’s it gonna be some outfitters, how

00:57:51:29 –> 00:57:53:28
Hot, cold, what kind of boots I need. We

00:57:53:28 –> 00:58:04:00
Went up there, you know, and, and we didn’t, I don’t know, I don’t, I felt like we were slightly under-prepared for clothing, but we were also new at this late season. White. Yeah. You know,

00:58:04:06 –> 00:58:10:22
And you think, oh, I, I live in a naturally cold place. Like I can handle it. This is what I use home to hunt. Maybe disregard

00:58:10:22 –> 00:58:11:05
Something,

00:58:11:05 –> 00:58:11:22
Go sit 12 hours.

00:58:11:26 –> 00:58:21:22
Yeah. And it completely different. Kind of a, a different kind of cold or those kind of things. You know, you, you can under prepare whatever. So if an outfitter tells you to do something or bring it or whatever, you probably ought to.

00:58:21:29 –> 00:58:45:19
Yeah. Probably ought to. And I think as a client, you should be honest. If you do have special requests or, or things you need. Like, I remember guiding a hunt once and he had, we, we had, we were, we were packed in and we had mountain houses peak refuels. And he had, what is it? Gluten, something he couldn’t eat. Most of the food we had, he had a few of his own. But we had to make a special trip to get,

00:58:45:23 –> 00:58:46:17
I’ve had to do that. You

00:58:46:17 –> 00:58:47:29
Know what I mean? Things like that. Like that. You better tell,

00:58:47:29 –> 00:58:50:05
You better tell your outfitter before you get there. Yeah. That’s

00:58:50:05 –> 00:58:51:03
My point. And I’ve

00:58:51:03 –> 00:59:00:24
Had a hunter do that to me. And it, I had to go to a whole, I knew, I now know where the gluten-free and all that section is in the grocery store. They all have them. Right. And you can, if you’re beforehand, it’s no problem. I,

00:59:01:03 –> 00:59:03:17
I learned something on this podcast. I didn’t even know there was a section Oh

00:59:03:17 –> 00:59:04:24
Yeah. At Walmart. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:59:04:29 –> 00:59:21:25
There’s a whole section and it’s easy. I just go grab that and that’s his, and this is ours. But if they tell you when they get there, you, everything has wheat. Any, any crackers, cheese, you know, noodles, anything, anything has, you can’t, you can’t get around it. Bread, loaf of bread for sandwiches. That’s,

00:59:21:25 –> 00:59:27:01
That’s why I can’t touch a fork to bread and then something else without that contaminating it. It, it was, it can be

00:59:27:07 –> 00:59:29:03
If any allergies like that. Very big.

00:59:29:03 –> 00:59:29:22
But yeah, dietary,

00:59:30:04 –> 00:59:36:04
Physical. If I’m an here, somebody needs gluten free. I’m like, me and you, we just, this isn’t a hunt for you.

00:59:36:06 –> 00:59:37:04
It’s, yeah, it’s hard.

00:59:38:07 –> 00:59:43:07
It ain’t that hard. They, they got rice, flour, potato flour, bread. I mean, it’s pretty easy. Guy.

00:59:43:13 –> 00:59:44:25
If if nothing else, if nothing

00:59:44:25 –> 00:59:47:05
Else, I feel like they need their own trailer. They need their own truck.

00:59:47:20 –> 00:59:51:17
It’s not, it’s not like an allergy. If they touch it, they die. It just makes ’em sick. I mean

00:59:51:26 –> 00:59:52:12
That’s big

00:59:52:12 –> 00:59:53:19
Deal. I’ve got a daughter that has it go

00:59:53:19 –> 00:59:54:28
Crap. Your brain’s out. Yeah. It’s

00:59:54:28 –> 00:59:56:00
Just, it just makes you,

00:59:57:12 –> 01:00:03:05
I’m just, or throw up or whatever. I don’t know. Just be a man about it. Right. Cash. Well that’s

01:00:03:05 –> 01:00:05:05
Why we always just re we always just

01:00:05:06 –> 01:00:18:27
Resort. I know it’s a real thing. ’cause it there I tease a little bit. This is way light. Okay. So I mean there’s people in heavier people in this office that, that need gluten-free. I get it. I just don’t get it because I’m not, it doesn’t affect way you don’t understand it tell you don’t understand it, it

01:00:18:27 –> 01:00:22:29
Doesn’t affect. But if you did have that sensitivity and you were going on a hunt, you’d probably be prepared. At least tell ’em

01:00:23:07 –> 01:00:34:03
If you’re going, that’s my point. If you’re going on a 15 day backpack hunt and you only brought two little 20 packs of baby wipes and you had to eat gluten, you’re gonna have a problem. So it would become a big issue. That’s

01:00:34:03 –> 01:00:34:28
Why I think tell

01:00:34:28 –> 01:00:39:27
Resort, the outfitter wants me to bring lots of, man, what are they called now? Dude wipes. Yeah.

01:00:40:18 –> 01:00:45:11
Gorilla wipe just resort to, that’s why we always just resort to Snickers. I mean, you can’t go wrong. You

01:00:45:25 –> 01:00:47:04
Unless you’re allergic to peanuts.

01:00:47:04 –> 01:00:48:23
45 Snickers. That’s

01:00:48:23 –> 01:00:50:28
Right. Or they melt in the sun. Okay. Anyway,

01:00:51:09 –> 01:00:52:06
I could live on this.

01:00:52:09 –> 01:00:58:12
Yeah, I think that dietary physical limitations. I mean, if you need a CCP pap at night, you’re gonna be

01:00:58:25 –> 01:01:00:15
In tan, might need electricity. Yeah.

01:01:00:15 –> 01:01:06:21
Yeah. That’s something you need to communicate prior. Absolutely. All that stuff. I mean, you’ve got one leg, one arm, whatever. Anything.

01:01:07:11 –> 01:01:10:05
Okay, you guys brought up, this is right up.

01:01:10:16 –> 01:01:17:15
Hey, I have to say this is a little intimidating. I’ve always been the question reader guy and I’ve always known what’s coming next. Exactly. This is kind of nerve

01:01:17:15 –> 01:01:18:28
Wracking. And I’ve, for

01:01:18:28 –> 01:01:22:23
You’s of which, speaking of which Viking hit the Viking, we,

01:01:23:00 –> 01:01:51:18
No, we should probably, I’ve got a good one here in a minute, but right along some lines, you guys mentioned this actually another question here actually asked by an outfitter. Dusty trails wants to talk about, and this is good for the education, for people coming out western hunting, because as me as a guide outfitter, you guys have all, several of you have guided people. This is a very important conversation we’ve gotta have. But what distances should I be ca comfortably shooting out West weapon specific? So we’ll talk rifle, we’ll talk archery. Let’s have it.

01:01:53:06 –> 01:02:37:25
Well, so I feel like there’s a lot of clients that are from back east that are not that, I mean, 400 is a very long shot. Yeah. You know, and it’s common like 300, you get ’em three. Like you guys, you know, guy comes in from hunting sheep, he lives back east. I mean, and, and there’s a respect that goes along with the animal. Like you don’t, don’t really want to, I don’t, I personally don’t wanna shoot a sheep at 900 yards. No. But I would shoot a mul deer every day at 900 yards. Do I have less or less respect for Mulder because of that? No, no, no. I, but I think there’s something to, usually on a sheep hunt, there’s no, you don’t, you’re one of the few guys on the unit that, you know, there’s a, there’s an experience there and, and when youve decided, I don’t know that they’re not gonna get away. It just doesn’t feel like they’re gonna get away. Yeah. You know,

01:02:38:13 –> 01:03:13:11
This is what I tell people, and you guys can chime in, but for pe and it’s a little bit different. If you live out west and a lot of guys have a gun that’s already set up, you’re, you’re not having to break the news to ’em. But I’ve had a lot of clients from back east, they don’t own anything except for a white tow gun. Seven M oh eight through eight. It’s a 200 yard rifle. Let, let’s call it what it’s, they don’t, they can’t see past that. And in most cases there, I’ll talk with them about, if you don’t wanna fly with a firearm, don’t fly with your firearm. We’ll have one out here. I always bring one as a backup for all my hunters anyway. We’ve had to use them in the middle of hunts because certain guns have problems. Scope comes loose or whatever.

01:03:13:12 –> 01:04:02:03
You can’t get it cited in or re re zeroed after they get here. But I tell people, you better be prepared to shoot 500 yards. That is a kind of a minimum out for out west with a rifle. Now, now if that freaks ’em out a little bit and it’s because hey, well I’ve never shot anything past 250, then just say, okay. A lot of times it comes into a, they don’t have a place they can shoot that far back east. They don’t have a range or, or it’s flat. They don’t, yeah, it’s thick trees and they, they’re shooting range is a hundred or 200 yards. So you just work with them on that. Say, Hey, if you’re overwhelmed by that and have to go spend two, three, whatever grand to buy a gun and a setup that you feel like you can use out west, you know, a lot of guides and outfitters out out here might be able to offer you a gun. But I would say you better be prepared for that out west. That is, that is a

01:04:02:21 –> 01:04:03:21
Kind of a minimum, that’s

01:04:03:21 –> 01:04:09:13
A normal realm. Realm of reality anymore. And that’s even changed in our lifetime. Jason. Oh, 500 yards when you and I

01:04:09:13 –> 01:04:22:15
5,600 yard, the story of my first big buck in 2003, you know, and it was, it was 400 and whatever, 50 yards. Oh yeah. And I I I kind of had to walk it in there. Yes,

01:04:22:22 –> 01:04:23:00
Exactly.

01:04:23:03 –> 01:04:26:06
Okay. And, and it and that’s when, you know, just

01:04:26:06 –> 01:04:27:03
Holdovers is all we

01:04:27:03 –> 01:05:06:23
Were doing. Yeah. Mark Thompson was, was getting cranking on Thompson long range. Good friend of ours, also a supporter of Epic. And we support him aggressively. Just super good people. But they change, he changed my life and, and let, let’s just call it ethical, normal range. It’s not even really long range. It’s just being able to, you know, work, know where your bullet’s gonna hit at at 3, 4, 5, 6, 700 yards. I think those are normal things to ask now. Yep, that’s right. With, with today’s technology. Back then it wasn’t, it was like you kind of wondered about holdover and this and that, but we didn’t even, they weren’t even grouping that. Well, everything’s come so far compared to what it once was. It has.

01:05:07:00 –> 01:05:10:18
But I think 500 is just a, a standard. You better be prepared for

01:05:10:24 –> 01:05:11:09
Not an average.

01:05:11:14 –> 01:05:49:21
You get a scope too. A lot of these scopes, like the wheel carrier that we have on our rifles or anything, you, once you find the animal or whatever and you crank it up to 20 power, a 500 yard shot, you can still pick a spot on a, on a, an animal at that point. It doesn’t feel, it doesn’t feel like that’s a long shot. It doesn’t, to me it doesn’t feel any different when you get beyond five. It starts, there are other things and, and yeah, there’s stuff that can influence it, but between two and 500 yards, there’s really no difference. To me personally. I feel like yeah, you just dial the scope a little farther. You know, there, there’s a few things mechanically you need to do, but like, as far as the site picture, I feel like from two to three to four, five, there’s not much of a difference with the scopes and stuff that we have.

01:05:49:27 –> 01:06:40:12
I agree. And we were using three to nines and four to twelves. Yeah. And, and, and, and go throw shoulder one of those or, or a muzzle or one power or whatever. You feel it feels similar. Yeah. Now if you’re dialing up to, you know, whatever 18 power or 24 power or whatever power you like, it’s a difference. Right? Yeah. I mean, you can see and, and with now we’re all shooting off, you know, a tripod or a bipod or whatever and we’re just better at making sure that we make that shot counts. I think part of it too is the, the finite of the, the resource is such a finite resource anymore of not if you blow that chance, you might have blown your chance. Yeah. You know, and so where back in the day it was like, well, let’s go find another one. I mean, it was, it was a little more readily available and especially deer and especially deer, you know. And so anyway,

01:06:40:15 –> 01:06:49:16
What about archery? Haven’t talked about that yet. What, what should a guy out west, let’s just call it mule deer, an elk, what should you be proficient at in your life? I’d

01:06:49:18 –> 01:06:50:16
Say zero to 60. Yep.

01:06:50:24 –> 01:06:51:01
I was gonna

01:06:51:01 –> 01:06:51:18
Say up zero

01:06:51:18 –> 01:06:52:21
To 60, I would say

01:06:53:04 –> 01:06:54:29
Practice to 70, 80 if you can. Yeah. If

01:06:54:29 –> 01:07:46:12
You can practice longer. But for this reason, for the same reason. I tell people all the time, I, I’ve never had anybody ever initiate a, a sheep shot over 600 yards. You know, and that was, if it was under that a five or six or five 50, I knew dang sure it was either my gun or that they knew their gun and I knew this, this hunter. But I’ve had experiences where a gun that was capable of shooting far, Jason, you were with me on this hunt, shoots the ram at 200 yards, runs over the ridge by the time we climbed ridge and get there to the Rams limping at 6, 7, 7, 8. He finally stops at eight. As I’m reading every range, he’s proned out on a bipod. The thing’s butt running away limping. And it stops and does a look back at 800 yards. And he’s dialed because I’ve been every, every 25 yards. He’s doing another click stops at 800 yards. He puts it twice behind the shoulder and dies twice

01:07:46:18 –> 01:07:50:16
Within 800 yards. And they were within an inch of each other. Damn. Like this guy knew wow.

01:07:50:19 –> 01:08:17:16
That that gun was capable. We didn’t initiate it. But, but for the same purpose on a bow, if you shoot an elk and he hunches and goes into the trees and now he’s at 80 or something like that and you don’t have any mechanism to have a floating pin or something. And I realized that that gets into a technology, technology thing and pins and all that. But if you have the ability to, to have a little bit of a dial or something that you have, hey, that that bull is hit, get another arrow in him or deer, whatever. It sure is nice. We’ve

01:08:17:16 –> 01:08:24:09
Seen it. Well not only that is when I’ve practiced, I, I’ve practiced at 90 yards, but on a archery. But now 60 feels like nothing. Yes.

01:08:24:12 –> 01:08:24:24
And that’s

01:08:24:24 –> 01:08:25:29
Why I say do it. 50 feels like nothing.

01:08:26:24 –> 01:08:30:07
It’s the same thing with the rifle. It’s six or 800 yards and now you do a three to 400

01:08:30:09 –> 01:08:32:05
Yards. I don’t like a 90, like

01:08:32:16 –> 01:08:40:18
A three to 400 yard shot. It feels like I don’t even turn my power up anymore. It’s just because of the, the advancements and everything we have.

01:08:41:01 –> 01:09:07:16
And that’s why I say I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t tell a guy ever to, to shoot 80 whatever at an animal or something like that. But that from zero to 20 yards in your backyard feels like nothing. The difference between 60 to 80 yards out in the field or whatever is significant. But if you just try and hit 80 and even if you’re not grouping at 80 or something like that, just practice trying to focus on the target and hitting the target every time at 80 when you go to shoot 60 on a bowl or whatever, you’re gonna smack him and it’s not gonna be, it’s not gonna feel like a significant shot in some ways.

01:09:07:24 –> 01:09:36:28
And you also learn in my, my experience shooting at those longer range with a floating pin, you learn more about your, what stabilizers you might that, that you need different if you shoot a little bit further. Yep. Than if you just shoot everything at 30, 40 yards. Like, doesn’t matter. You don’t need a stabilizer, you don’t need that. Yeah. You learn different things about bow balance, whether your quiver helps or fix, you get the wind blowing you with a quiver and things like that. You guys know what I’m talking about. Yeah. The long, everything gets amplified, the further out on all of your gear that then can tighten it up in the wheelhouse range. We’ll call it.

01:09:37:08 –> 01:09:42:27
It’s good. It’s good practice too. ’cause any mistake you’re making at 30 is very like

01:09:43:19 –> 01:09:44:10
Exacerbated.

01:09:44:10 –> 01:09:49:18
It’s amplified significantly at 70, 80. Yep. And so like, you might not even know you’re making a mistake at 30.

01:09:49:22 –> 01:09:50:28
That’s what I’m talking about. I’ve known

01:09:50:29 –> 01:10:23:03
Guys to have one pen and that’s it. I mean I know ’em well. Right. And so anyway, and they’re a 30 yard guy, 20, 30 yard guy or 10, 10 to 30 yard guy. And if you’re just, if you’re that guy, you’re that guy and that’s fine. And you’re just not gonna make the most of your tax ’cause you’re, it just is what it is. And you’re gonna have the opportunities. You, you just hold out and eat tags if they’re not within 30 yards. And so I guess it goes back to what you’re comfortable of zero to 60. Yeah. You should work hard at being comfortable at 60. Yep. But if you’re not, then you’re not. Yeah, that’s right. And, and don’t take it out further. Don’t,

01:10:23:03 –> 01:10:24:04
Don’t force it. Don’t do

01:10:24:09 –> 01:10:36:17
Kentucky windage or, or you know, ah, you know, and you know, and, and aim high. No, you need to be more calculated than that. More precise than that. Or you don’t take the shot if you’re only good at 30, you’re, you’re good at

01:10:36:17 –> 01:10:56:28
30. But it is a different where if it is a different world coming from east to west, hunt with a bow, they’re all, and you gotta be prepared. If you say I can, I can’t shoot anything 20, 30 yards, you’re gonna be severely limited. Yes. You’re gonna have some frustrated guides and outfitters out there that have called bulls in at 35 to 50 yards and, and that’s just, you need to be prepared for that. Not west. You absolutely have to. So,

01:10:56:28 –> 01:11:13:11
Yeah. Can I add one thing to the rifle thing coming back? You bet. That I’ve seen guiding guys for long, long time. The guys will say, yeah, I’m good out to five, 600 with this rifle and that’s at home on a bench. Right. And then they show up and we’re hunting and all of a sudden it’s heartbeat kill

01:11:14:00 –> 01:11:14:06
10.

01:11:14:17 –> 01:11:23:00
Yeah. And they don’t have a bipod shooting sticks. They’ve never shut off a pack, prone all that. It’s like, yeah, it’s a whole nother, it almost doesn’t matter. Don’t even know how to do

01:11:23:00 –> 01:11:23:23
This matter what you told me.

01:11:23:26 –> 01:11:25:25
You know? So Definitely. Devin,

01:11:25:26 –> 01:11:27:27
Do you have the lead sled in the back of the truck?

01:11:28:12 –> 01:11:36:10
What’s your picnic table? Yeah, like, you know, I, I like shoot off this pack. I’m like, what do you mean? You know what I mean? Like shoot off the pack. That’s our only option we have. No, and

01:11:36:10 –> 01:11:37:03
You’re gonna be dead steady

01:11:37:07 –> 01:11:41:15
Or you’ve lay prone and they have no bipod. Just, just be prepared to shoot in the field.

01:11:41:23 –> 01:11:48:21
I think Yeah, as a client there’s things we expect, things of guides, but the guides expect things of clients and be prepared with your gear

01:11:48:23 –> 01:11:49:21
Both there. Yep. Yep.

01:11:49:24 –> 01:11:50:09
Anyways,

01:11:50:23 –> 01:12:14:27
I know we’re going long, but there’s a couple of these here that it regards to the Utah draw and I, and I feel like if we don’t do it now, it won’t get done. That’s right. This guy says last one, we can call it the last one. Jay Barton 30. I drew an elk tag in Utah as a resident in 22. It says, and now I’m four years into deer. What would I do to draw and make it worth the time and effort? I feel like it’ll be years before I ever draw an la deer tech. Well that’s,

01:12:15:26 –> 01:12:16:12
That’s true.

01:12:17:14 –> 01:12:49:28
That’s a tough spot. It depends on also, I guess I would say, how much do you love elk? We’ve been teasing Wyatt, that he’s on a five year waiting period for deer right now that he’s got, he loves deer more than elk. We, that’s self-proclaimed. We’re not even announcing anything to the world there. We’ve been teasing him about like late archeries on these elk to just get done in five years. ’cause you know, you’re going right back to deer on year five, six, whatever. Yeah. But that would be a question I have to this guy. Are you dying to get back to elk as soon as you’re off the, you know, or deer Yeah. Elk right after your deer period. Or you kill a deer or your elk waiting period’s over. Sorry, butchered. That

01:12:49:28 –> 01:12:51:11
Depends on how aggre Yeah.

01:12:51:13 –> 01:12:53:06
If you’re an elk hunter, you’re Yeah. Draw any

01:12:53:06 –> 01:12:55:07
Aggressiveness in the application. Yeah. All depends on

01:12:55:07 –> 01:13:09:16
What you want. I would say try to draw one of the late muzzles for on the general for deer. Anything anywhere that’s, you’re, you’re almost off it, you got four points. So you’ve only got like another year. That’s probably why he is asking this. He probably, that leads me to think he wants to go back to elk maybe sooner than Yeah.

01:13:09:25 –> 01:13:11:25
’cause as as residents, yeah, we have to, yeah.

01:13:12:11 –> 01:13:32:15
Five year we can’t do ’em both. So, so I’d say look at the late muzzles on the generals. I mean I know they’re not, they’re not elaborate. They may not be, they may be your hunting unit just got crushed by hundreds in some cases, thousands of general deer hunters. And now you’re trying to find a buck that sticks his nose outta the brush five days later and all that. But there’s not a lot of options

01:13:32:15 –> 01:13:41:21
For it. But even just I guess diving into that, I mean there’s, you take, it’s like a southwest Desert Lake muzzle, it’s impressive what they kill versus the general It is. And one little snowstorm there at the end of

01:13:41:21 –> 01:13:50:07
October one cold snap. Yeah. And it does go for what, eight or 10 days that season? Yeah. So it does start a, a couple days after, but it does go, you’re pushing almost

01:13:50:10 –> 01:14:19:17
Two weeks it back and now we’re going into whole different subjects. But it goes back to the skews of Utah and all of the different options. Yeah. Pick a like you’re saying, get creative, get get it done if you want. And and your experience will probably be just great. Yeah. There’s there’s great options. We’re just, we’re so discriminating we want the right time on the right year with my expectations with, I mean everything you custom to me custom to you cash. Like what do I want? Exactly. And so we’re so used to that that just take something and go, you’re gonna have a great time. Yeah.

01:14:19:17 –> 01:14:51:00
And you’re, you’re, it’s a limited entry point in Utah, so it’s a little, feels a little more special than just a general point. But you’re, you’re probably actually trying to scrap to get to Colorado to hunt a similar unit as far as structure of bucks and stuff. And you’d go do it with those same dates and be like, I’m gonna go over there and do that, or whatever. Exactly. But ooh, I’m gonna pump the brakes here on Utah. Like, you’d you’d actually hunt that same one here with those dates. I I look at those dates, say, yeah, I’d take one of those tags on on any of my stuff, but because it’s a limited entry point, you’re a little more hesitant to punch that punch it. So it’s, it’s tricky. But there’s, there’s options. I was looking at some just yesterday. So

01:14:51:17 –> 01:14:52:03
What for

01:14:52:15 –> 01:14:52:24
Whoa,

01:14:53:03 –> 01:14:55:00
Well, I don’t know. Just helping people burn points.

01:14:55:06 –> 01:15:00:05
Oh, not personal stuff. No. I thought you were gonna tell us what you were personally about to do. That’s not where you

01:15:00:05 –> 01:15:01:07
Were going. He’s got projects.

01:15:01:10 –> 01:15:02:15
I thought we had an announcement here.

01:15:03:00 –> 01:15:03:21
I got points.

01:15:04:00 –> 01:15:06:24
We, we all have projects, we just don’t want ’em aired out.

01:15:07:21 –> 01:15:18:22
It’s kinda like the NL draft, NFL draft that’s coming up with on the clock. Is this an poet? Just, we got an announcement and we gotta pick in from Joshua on what he applied for Utah General. Josh, what did you do?

01:15:19:12 –> 01:15:20:16
JFP tell us.

01:15:20:27 –> 01:15:24:00
I mean all of us have points, places. I always trying to look for something.

01:15:25:03 –> 01:15:27:23
Anyway, do we have anything else? That was great.

01:15:28:00 –> 01:15:38:10
Well, there’s one more and, and I know this, but it’s regarding drought and the reason I bring it up is there’s states like Utah and Nevada that are pending still not a question, but give us some encouragement on the drought.

01:15:38:16 –> 01:15:42:25
Hey, I heard a guy, I heard a guy claiming last night there was a season saver storm. That’s all I can

01:15:42:25 –> 01:15:43:21
Say. Who said that?

01:15:45:04 –> 01:15:47:05
It was, it was in a video that I saw

01:15:47:25 –> 01:15:49:00
Who said it? Real season

01:15:49:09 –> 01:15:49:16
Saver.

01:15:50:20 –> 01:16:07:21
Okay. Okay. And, and I don’t, I don’t necessarily agree with that, but I do think that, I do think this is is timely moistures everything and we’re getting it. Yeah. And so while we were way dry and it was terrible and 40 year record dry and on and on and all, all the bad things that we’ve talked about in

01:16:07:21 –> 01:16:16:24
The last 45 days when it had to turn on or it’s gonna be devastatingly bad turn on. We’ve actually got some in southern Utah. That’s right. Northern Arizona last night, Nevada. Right. As

01:16:16:25 –> 01:16:23:15
It starts greening up, it’s gonna be’s the best time. It’s it’s awesome. It’s actually, I’m excited. I’m encouraged. It’s gonna be an average year. Well,

01:16:23:15 –> 01:16:34:07
It it, and exactly you, we’ve seen it happen. It comes into storms. So the next week it’s 70, 80, it touched 90 in St. George last week and then we got another dowsing. Yeah. And then it’s gonna get warm again. What? It just immediately greens

01:16:34:07 –> 01:16:53:19
Up me, tell me when to turn my water in, but I’m hoping I don’t have to for a minute because it’s nice. It’s holding off a little bit. There’s a lot more to it. I think. I think I, I personally April and May weather March, April and May, but but April and May for deer, of course elk and some of these places may be, you know, out in the flats of Arizonans, things like that. Yeah.

01:16:53:19 –> 01:17:18:28
High desert units are gonna be challenged. But units that have traditional, we’ll call it summer range, wind range, mid range and, and summer range and green up, you know, it doesn’t happen as in, in, in heavy snow years it’ll happen over two or three months. We don’t have that much snow in the high country now. It’ll be be greening up in June and July for the first time. It it’s not, but it does still have a lag. And that does help our elk, it helps ’em in Nevada, it helps ’em in Utah. I think. Watch out elk. This the predict

01:17:18:28 –> 01:17:28:04
This year, the predictions, the predictions for Nevada and maybe even Utah. Josh, Adam, we can all chime in on this. Maybe even for Utah for sure. Nevada, it’s gonna be off the

01:17:28:04 –> 01:17:30:04
Chart. Elk especially Yeah. For elk. Yeah. I I

01:17:30:07 –> 01:17:31:24
I wanna designate that. I mean not deer.

01:17:32:01 –> 01:17:35:11
I mean it’s like what the driest winter we’ve had in 40 years or something. So don’t that if you

01:17:35:11 –> 01:17:37:16
Just look at snow pack and the reservoirs holding of

01:17:37:16 –> 01:17:46:19
That. Yeah. But also some of the benefits on the other hand where we’ve, we’ve actually had a couple good years previous, so we’ve actually got some animals are in good shape. They haven’t had to fight tough winter conditions.

01:17:46:21 –> 01:17:48:01
Got age class on elk initially

01:17:48:05 –> 01:17:51:03
A lot, a lot of standing feed and easy feed. Everything was as easy.

01:17:51:10 –> 01:18:00:07
But things are uncovered. You don’t have the snowpack that like Bronson was alluding to for June and July where you’re just getting outta your snow pack. Yeah, we’re actually gonna have green up, up high. Oh yeah.

01:18:00:07 –> 01:18:06:28
Early. Remember that like three or four winters ago. It didn’t green up till like June 15th. Oh yeah. So much was of the elk were not good that year.

01:18:06:28 –> 01:18:08:04
Yeah, we were so excited. But it

01:18:08:18 –> 01:18:10:12
Had to eat. They had to eat mahogany for in

01:18:10:12 –> 01:18:17:13
July and you’re like, oh no it’s not. It’s bad. It hasn’t even greened up but it’s because it hadn’t had a chance to green up yet. It didn’t green up until August because

01:18:17:13 –> 01:18:18:23
Those elk were eat mahogany

01:18:19:11 –> 01:18:22:03
When they should be green. Are you’re saying elk could be off the charts in Utah?

01:18:22:03 –> 01:18:28:04
Yeah, I mean I’m not gonna make, I’ve made a prediction once about green grass and I’ve never been able to live it down. I’m not, well I tell you about, I saw

01:18:28:18 –> 01:18:30:12
Blade of grass between here and

01:18:30:15 –> 01:18:30:22
The

01:18:30:22 –> 01:18:30:27
Per

01:18:31:26 –> 01:18:32:03
Jan

01:18:32:12 –> 01:18:35:15
In January. Perona. I want to add the,

01:18:35:25 –> 01:18:37:00
And it was probably in Alfalfa field.

01:18:37:02 –> 01:18:41:24
It was the year we were talking, just talking about the spring. That never came. We green Green.

01:18:42:17 –> 01:18:43:07
That was, it was.

01:18:43:27 –> 01:18:49:22
So I’m not gonna tell you about the bowl. I saw it with Tangs and things the other day already. But you won’t believe me so I’m not gonna tell you.

01:18:50:06 –> 01:18:53:11
I I can back you up on that. I saw the same thing what you did.

01:18:53:14 –> 01:18:53:21
Oh

01:18:53:21 –> 01:18:54:01
Yeah. You

01:18:54:01 –> 01:18:54:21
Saw, what were you guys

01:18:54:25 –> 01:18:55:13
Together? Tangs.

01:18:56:12 –> 01:18:56:18
Oh

01:18:56:20 –> 01:18:58:00
God, we’ve seent

01:18:58:15 –> 01:19:01:07
Fresh. Fresh bulbus. Fuzzy tangs. Oh, the one that got

01:19:01:10 –> 01:19:03:06
Killed? No, no, no. The one

01:19:03:06 –> 01:19:04:27
You sent us pictures that got highway killed.

01:19:04:29 –> 01:19:08:03
Well I’ve seen some since, but yes, that one unfortunately. That one. Yeah.

01:19:08:13 –> 01:19:08:25
Bulbus

01:19:08:25 –> 01:19:09:21
Tank, Josh scouts Bulb

01:19:10:01 –> 01:19:19:12
Day the bulb work. Bulbus Tangs is dead. But Bulbus there could be, there could be other Bulbus ts animals starting to run around out there.

01:19:20:24 –> 01:19:24:13
Me and Josh had a conversation and we were both impressed at what each other saw.

01:19:25:10 –> 01:19:25:27
I do for

01:19:25:28 –> 01:19:26:13
The time of

01:19:26:13 –> 01:19:29:12
Year. I do think deer average at best and

01:19:29:12 –> 01:19:30:05
Yeah, for

01:19:30:05 –> 01:19:41:27
Sure. But hey, if I, I’d take average, it might be slightly under average. I feels like we’re getting enough moisture, it’s gonna pull it out. And I think like Northern Nevada could be off the charts. I think Northern Nevada’s have been just fine. Yes. Got Davis State. I

01:19:41:27 –> 01:19:52:05
Talked to a lot of guys up North Montana, Wyoming, and they’re just, their whole winter’s been like bunch of snow, rain, melt. Exactly. Bunch of snow, rain melt. It’s been a good cycle. Like the ground is. Yep.

01:19:52:13 –> 01:19:54:05
So how about bro, and so

01:19:54:05 –> 01:20:05:03
What people wanna know I guess is Utah, Nevada, what are you telling people on deer though? I mean elk, we’re talking about apply Elk is so hard to draw in Utah, Nevada, you’d probably take a tag in an average year I think. But deer,

01:20:05:12 –> 01:20:13:21
I think anymore I’ve thought about this. You, you know, where we’re at age wise and, and we’re not over the hill necessarily. Cash Logan trying to try

01:20:13:21 –> 01:20:13:27
Might

01:20:13:27 –> 01:20:39:22
Just be on the ridge. Try us just on the ridge. But having said that, how long are you gonna wait for this perfect storm, the perfect tag, the perfect amount of points that you have to, to, to force the draw and have the perfect year alive at the genetics and the age and the 14,000 factors. I am getting to be more in the camp of and waiting for the DWR to, you know, have A-A-A-A-A mishap in management

01:20:39:29 –> 01:20:41:04
Happy accident you call.

01:20:41:21 –> 01:21:11:00
Okay. That ends up tender mercy allowing for some older deer on the landscape. I just, you know, whatever. I just feel like all those variables have to be perfect anymore. And is that gonna happen in the next decade? Yeah. How about two decades? Probably. Maybe, maybe. But, but I just feel like it’s time to hunt and I feel like it’s okay to take a tag and get after it. And I think, you know, there are places, even Wyoming, we’ve talked about it. Oh yeah. You lot of deer on landscape, but the deer that are there, pretty pretty alright. Pretty

01:21:11:00 –> 01:21:52:25
Awesome. If you have a diverse enough application strategy around the west, if you put in for one state then, then I guess maybe you’re gonna subscribe to the philosophy. I better get this right. But hopefully we’ve encouraged and through our, our business and and encouragement about building points around the west so you have options whether it be short term, medium long range goals. If you have that, don’t put so much pressure on yourself to fail or to get it absolutely right in the right year because yeah, there’s a lot that can go wrong during your hunt. Yeah. The weather in Colorado when you, when you draw your long way to deer tag will have more to do with how great or how things line up there than just how many points it took you to draw a tag.

01:21:52:27 –> 01:22:01:13
And there’s not a right year. It feels like you can’t predict the right antler growth year in Colorado. No. Like, like go every year. You should hunt every single year if you can.

01:22:01:19 –> 01:22:05:00
Yeah. As often as you can and, and other states. I mean it’s hard to force your way to

01:22:05:00 –> 01:22:10:05
Nevada like Nevada draw or Yeah. The Nevada drought. Like that’s a problem. Yeah. You know, there are years I would skip

01:22:10:05 –> 01:22:29:05
Nevada. Well, and, and there’s the tag numbers are so low right now. Like the odds are so terrible to draw tag for, for Deere especially a lot of people talking about like, you still would probably take one in these very better units this year because the odds of drawing ’em and even if the tags double Jason in three to five more years and go back to where they were, they’re still astronaut.

01:22:29:05 –> 01:23:35:19
They’re terrible. Yeah. Tough odds. But you know, like Taylor we were talking to on the phone, say he’s a resident of Arizona, he’s got over the counter deer opportunities. They do have harvest limits, but he’s got options all the while he could build, you know, build points for the strip or whatever and go to Colorado. So we each have options in our own state. We can get a general tag more frequently than, than maybe a non-resident or whatever. You know, Colorado residents get to draw all the time. They’ve, their odds are so easy. I would take love their odds as a resident. And so anyway, I mean do have, you get to have these op opportunities while saving for something special, but what’s that special? How’s that gonna line up for you? And so anyway, that goes back into the short term, long term midterm, medium type draws application strategies and getting tags and, and using tags. But, but anyway, so I feel like yeah, grab a tag. I mean I think it’s, I think it’d be fine. I I I mean we’re gonna predict that it’s not gonna be off the charts for deer, but I’m not saying don’t use your points unless you’re that guy that’ll pass a one 90. If you’re gonna pass 190 inch deer or you’re gonna pass a low two hundreds

01:23:35:19 –> 01:23:38:18
Deer, you’re not gonna hunt very many deer tags. Be

01:23:38:18 –> 01:24:04:19
Happy with you’re not, you’re good with it or you’re going to and you’re gonna eat a lot and be good with it. Yep. It’s okay. That’s the state that we’re in and, and this light winter up north. Awesome. These guys are excited. I wanted to dive in just slightly too and we’re out of time and totally wanna be done. And this was supposed to be half the length that it is, but the buck do ratios that we’re finding in Wyoming. Yeah. Nevada Nevada’s managing for 30 to 35 bucks per hundred dose Wyoming postseason

01:24:04:19 –> 01:24:56:22
Want 30 wants 30, they’re at 28 or to 30 in the g and h winter range. This going into winter postseason postseason on a general season area. Granted overall numbers, like we’ve all been talking and you read in this magazine that’s at the printer now overall numbers are way down. They really are. But they’ve had incredible farm production the last couple years and survival war because you have a lot less deer on the landscape. That’s fairly common after a big winter if you have a, at least not, not a down to 10% of the population, you know what I mean? You have enough those to just crank it. There’s a lot more resources on the resource or on the landscape for these fawns to spread out. Have, have babies, raise them to, you know, raise ’em 2-year-old and kick ’em off and have another set. You know, it we’re seeing that antelope two off the charts, off the charts. Antelope production, you’re seeing really high. Most of ’em are 75, 80 to a hundred fas per hundred dose. Wow. Some over

01:24:56:25 –> 01:25:30:11
A hundred. These are, and these are years that I’m looking at. I mean okay, it’s changing the subject a little. I look at like Idaho and I think there’s challenges in Idaho with the qual deer quality and things. These are might be years. I would look at it and say I’m gonna apply for sheep. You know, or something like that. I and you And what brought that up in my mind was you talking about the antelope not necessarily wanting to kill an antelope each and every year. But I was looking at the coo deer in Arizona thinking if, if it’s so hard for a non-resident to draw a tag that I want. Yeah. Which it is. Yeah. I want a special tag. Yeah. I’ve been lucky over the years, so I want something special. I’m thinking I really should look at the cous deer. I really should look at,

01:25:30:11 –> 01:25:31:15
This is a year to do that antelope.

01:25:31:15 –> 01:25:33:12
When Wyoming’s good you hunt antelope.

01:25:33:12 –> 01:26:00:24
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That that’s, that’s do that something you add to your schedule to go have a kick kick butt time. Yeah. Because yeah, I don’t really have the points to draw my elk or the deer tag that I want and the deer maybe you’re still kind of not where I want to be, but other stuff. That’s why you have diverse points around the west. Just like you have a Kansas point here and there or in Iowa Point here and there or yeah, your deer points flip to the cos in Arizona, they’re like, I can’t draw what I want up here. And it’s a drought anyway. I’m gonna try one of the better COO units down there this year. Go have fun. Yeah.

01:26:01:12 –> 01:26:04:28
And then one last thing I’m gonna leave, leave everybody with is

01:26:06:01 –> 01:26:06:24
Why are you grinning

01:26:07:05 –> 01:26:36:17
This? Well, I just, because we weren’t gonna talk about Wyatt, but he’s, he’s in our li he’s our license application guy. He, he’s the head of that division does a great job at it. And there’s nobody that thinks more about these application strategies. I, I mean, I would say we rival him, but, but hey, he, he does it a lot and he’s very contemplative. I just want to turn my applications over to him. I wanna just really, yeah. He makes good choices. Yeah. But it’s hard for him to make a choice. So the problem is I’m gonna hunt less. He’s the,

01:26:36:18 –> 01:26:41:23
He’s the very, he’s the very, the bottom catfish at the bottom of the hole. And it takes a lot to,

01:26:41:27 –> 01:26:43:24
It takes a lot to pull him out from under the log

01:26:43:29 –> 01:26:50:06
That lure, I don’t know what lure jig with live worm, bleeding worms, whatever you’re gonna get to get him there. Corn

01:26:50:11 –> 01:26:53:04
Does not cut. I’ve always, he doesn’t even look at corn. It takes,

01:26:53:09 –> 01:26:54:13
It takes a stick of dynamite.

01:26:55:07 –> 01:27:00:03
I’ve always said if you get a green light from Wyatt on something, you better dang sure.

01:27:00:03 –> 01:27:16:23
Think about doing. And that’s the only thing that’s causing me think about, to think on a couple of things. He’s made a couple of comments and I’m like, I just want, I’ve made really poor application choices. I’ve eaten a lot of tags in bad years. I’ve just blown my, you taught dare points on the worst year you could, you know, it’s things like that. You’re,

01:27:16:23 –> 01:27:24:03
That bass that you catch and when you reel it in, it’s already got two jigs on the other side of his jaw that broke the line. Yes. He’s already been hit by, he’s already been caught.

01:27:24:14 –> 01:27:28:05
You have to noodle fat. You have to noodle 14 pounds laying around under

01:27:28:05 –> 01:27:30:03
The lawn. You have to noodle him to get him out.

01:27:30:11 –> 01:27:45:09
You gotta go and get, you gotta, yeah. You gotta be the fish noodler. Yeah. And, and that’s a thing I, we ought to do that one of these days. But anyway, I’m just like, I just, sometimes I really do think, I really do think, what would Wyatt do? Www?

01:27:45:21 –> 01:27:45:28
Www

01:27:46:13 –> 01:27:50:29
And, and do that. I think that, I think that, I mean honestly I’m gonna write that

01:27:50:29 –> 01:27:52:10
On my board in my office. Yeah,

01:27:52:15 –> 01:27:53:10
Do it. Just look at it off.

01:27:53:10 –> 01:28:05:12
It’s the truth. Let’s just do it. And he’ll ask you what it means. Everyone do it. And he’ll just start noticing. Just do the, just do the three W’s and a d and just ask, tell, tell. He ask somebody. What is that? We should make a sign and put it

01:28:05:12 –> 01:28:06:04
Somewhere in the office.

01:28:06:13 –> 01:28:06:22
Just

01:28:06:22 –> 01:28:07:27
A little sign. Let’s do it. Like

01:28:08:23 –> 01:28:09:01
With

01:28:09:14 –> 01:28:10:18
I’m already, we with John

01:28:11:13 –> 01:28:16:01
Ww kinda like the handicap parking signs that went up in our place classroom.

01:28:17:03 –> 01:29:10:11
I finally had to tear mine down. Yeah, alright. The girls loved that. Oh, they, oh, they had fun staff. They have a good time and we appreciate ’em. We’ve got the best office staff anywhere. But anyway, little throw a shout out to Q. You appreciate them and their support of us here at Epic Outdoors. They make some incredible gear, base layers, insulation, outerwear, pack, sleeping systems, footwear and accessories. We appreciate them. We’re friends with them. Brendan Burns has been a good friend of ours and supporter over the years. He’s a killer and we just love being affiliated with good people and good companies. And Q you is that, and so anyway, forevermore, we will be associated with Q You and, and again, appreciate them and their support. Support them. Go to go, go to the web, hit ’em up on Q’S website, order up some gear and you’ll be happy. It’s the best gear on planet Earth. All right.

01:29:10:13 –> 01:29:54:12
Yeah. Also, outdoor Edge. Pretty, pretty, pretty big announcement from them this week. They came out with the new Razor AP PX line of knives. They’re actually gonna have several coming out, but this one’s actually pretty awesome. It’s a new knife they’re coming out with. It’s kind of a skeletonized tang on it, if you will. So that way you can actually have, it has removable scales on the side that, and they’re kind of a nice soft rubber scale. But the cool thing inside the scale of that knife is you can actually do a blade storage. It’s got a magnetized blade storage that comes with that knife. So if you wanna put the scales on it, you can have extra blades on both sides of that. Or you can run it without those, as you guys say, you can run ’em without ’em and then, but you can just keep that with you as a blade.

01:29:54:12 –> 01:30:30:09
Storage put, they’re out of the way, that kind of thing. They do come in a, in a two and a half inch as well as a three inch. The, the three inch actually has, comes with a pack that’s got a blade holder for used blades as well as it comes with a little pick so you can clean all your stuff outta your knife sometimes it’s hard to get that stuff outta there. And it also comes with a saw blade too, with it, with that three inch model. So we’ve actually got a couple of ’em the other day we were looking at ’em and they’re, they’re awesome knives. I’m excited to use those. They’re, it’s, it’s a great knife for Mountain Ridge, so we appreciate them. Worked with them for a long time and we’ve all used their knives for quite a while, and it’s a removable blade knife. It’s gonna be pretty dang. Pretty dang awesome.

01:30:30:17 –> 01:30:35:04
Can’t wait to run it very. Anyway, one the 3.0 razor a AP PX. Yeah.

01:30:35:05 –> 01:30:42:25
Yeah. Very innovative. They, they’ve done a lot of thinking here to just improve what they’ve already done for a, a, a great job at, for a long time. So

01:30:42:25 –> 01:30:45:11
Yeah, we’re gonna order a ground of

01:30:45:11 –> 01:30:50:22
Them. Yeah, so shortly, get online and go check those [email protected] and you can see what we’re talking about. It’s that Razor A PX.

01:30:51:14 –> 01:32:17:00
