How the Nevada Draw Works
Bonus points, squared
Nevada runs one main draw in the spring. Applications for every species are due in mid May and results come back before the end of the month, one of the fastest turnarounds in the West. Nonresidents who want to hunt deer with an outfitter can also enter the separate guided deer draw in early March.
Nevada uses squared bonus points, so each year you do not draw makes the next year slightly better. Party applications average the group's points. Nevada tag numbers are limited and demand is high, which is exactly why the squared system rewards applicants who stay in year after year.
