How the Oregon Draw Works
Preference points, most tags to the highest point holders
Oregon controlled hunt applications for deer, elk, and antelope are due in mid May with results in mid June. Anyone who skips the draw can still buy a point during the fall points only window and stay in the system for next year.
Oregon uses preference points, and most of each hunt's tags go to the applicants with the most points while a smaller share is drawn at random. That keeps long term applicants moving toward better hunts while still giving newer applicants a real chance every year.
