How the Wyoming Draw Works

Preference points with a random share, special and regular price options

Wyoming's nonresident elk deadline lands earlier than almost everything else in the West, at the start of February, with results in late May. Sheep, goat, moose, and bison close at the end of April. Deer, antelope, and resident elk applications are due June 1 with results in mid June. Points for the following year are sold from July into late October.

Wyoming uses preference points for elk, deer, and antelope, with most tags going to the highest point holders and a share drawn at random. Nonresidents can also choose between the regular and special price options, which changes the pool you compete in without changing the hunt.

Draw odds for every Wyoming unit

Epic Outdoors members see draw odds and minimum points for every Wyoming unit, updated every year, plus the research magazine and one on one help from our consultants. Membership is $150 per year, and the Epic Outdoors app is a free download with a 7 day full access trial.
