EP 321: Scouting Updates and Vienna Sausages

Episode Description

In this episode the crew talks about some of the scouting strategies they've been using so far this year. With the weather transitioning from heavy moisture to a hot dry summer, it's an interesting year for big game behavior. We also bring in a special snack for Cache Lynn, who has never had a Vienna Sausage in his life.

Hey everybody, Jason Carter, Adam Brunson, the Epic Outdoors crew. Almost the entire crew missing old wild bulls. Although I think we should bug him on vacation. What do you guys think? Absolutely. Absolutely. Nobody here gets a vacation without being bugged a little bit. He's dumb enough to answer. He was begging yesterday to be called in. Are you guys sure you don't need me? I think so. Although he is having the time of his life and wouldn't be anywhere else. No, he loves Lake Powell. Yeah. Wyatt lives for Lake Powell. Yeah. I know his wife does. And this is his son's first trip there, so it's kind of special. Case and Wyatt. Yeah. In the VRBO. Do you think we should have? I think we should have. This is the best, right? You probably shouldn't have had your number calling, but we'll see if he answers. Oh, no. Hey. Hey. What are you doing? Any work emergencies? Real or made up? No. Okay.

So they're all emergencies. But we are hauling heavy load without you. Are you under the AC? I am on the beach of Lake Powell. You're on the beach. It's 327. It's 102 degrees, Wyatt. Oh, it's 102 out there for sure. I thought you had other arrangements made down there that may or may not have been received well within the in-laws. I do have an Airbnb, right? Did that go against protocol? The tradition. It is against. The tradition. The family tradition. Most definitely. Yeah. But they're enjoying it? Yes. You're going to change tradition around that place. I like it. Have you taken Case wakeboarding yet, Wyatt? He is not a water person. He is more like a cat. Really? He doesn't even like to take a bath, huh? Well, he likes the bathtub, that's for sure. He just doesn't like this lake here. No. Really? Takes after his dad. How does he know that it's different, though? He does.

He gets that from his dad. So, let's see. Have you been on the water a little bit? We have, yeah. Good. That's awesome. We've had a few decent runs. It's a little windier today, but. Yeah. We'll do some tubing in a bit, probably. What about fishing, Wyatt? Any fishing? No fishing. Is that kind of like off limits, too, on a family play trip at Lake Powell? Is that? Yeah. I don't believe there's any fishing rods. No hooks in the boat. Well, I guess you can have bananas on the boat, then, if you don't got foals. Wyatt, you know you're supposed to take this. What is it, Bronson? It's like a boat test to go through and talk about a quad. Quaggas and stuff. Quagga muscles and stuff. Do you guys have that? You've got to display it in the boat. They can pull you over and seize the boat. I'm sure Wyatt's taking that. Yeah, I did take that. That test. You did? I did, yeah.

I was down there, and I didn't even know you had to do that, so I came home and took it. Yeah, no, I took that a week or so ago on my phone. He doesn't miss anything. You don't miss anything, Wyatt. If you're an occupant in a boat, do you have to take it, Wyatt, or were you the captain of the boat? What made you take it? Even the paddle boarders, like paddle boarders. Yes, canoers, kayakers. Canoers, kayakers. Then you have to take a test. And you have those? Are you doing that? Are you paddle boarding over? I am paddle board certified if I need to be. Whoa. Can you give somebody, can you resuscitate somebody? Oh, yeah. I am CPR certified, too. I mean, I'm a jack of all trades. Yeah. Wyatt's a big deal. I mean, I didn't go through the Adam Bronson Glen Canyon course. Are you a firefighter? Yeah, let's leave that off the table for a little bit, Wyatt. I'm still working on some stuff.

Can you fight fires? I probably could. I mean, you take water to the flyer and call in some aircraft. He's a big deal. That's right. He's a big deal. All right. Well, what are we going to ask Wyatt today? I don't know. Just what he's excited about, what this year's bringing to him, what kind of year he thinks it's going to be. We just teed this off, Wyatt. So, Devin said, let's just let Wyatt take it, and we'll run with it. And maybe kind of direct where this podcast needs to go. Well, I think it's going to be a pretty good year if everything doesn't burn here in Utah. Okay. Yeah, we do need some rain. I mean, it's amazingly green, though, out there still. It really is. It's powder dry. The roads are powder. But the vegetation is green still. I mean, it is. I don't know where you're hanging. Well, you hunt moonscape. It's crap. Places I bet. Places I bet.

I was at, like, Bitter Brush and stuff. There was leaders. You guys are crazy. I did not expect that. You guys are in the Garden of Eden. Well, no. You're in. Crap. I know. You're going to places where stuff doesn't even live. It's true. And you're hoping to find something alive. I know. I'm sick of it. I'm already giving up. Whoa. Hey. All right.

I'm already giving up, Wyatt. I don't know. Thanks, Wendy. Wendy brought a little something in here. Good job. Wyatt, you'd give up if you were me, too, right? I'm already pulling the plug. I mean, deserts are hot as can be right now. Yeah. Lake Files, hot as can be right now. So hot. So hot. We're supposed to hit record highs the next couple days or something. You're having a good time, though. Yeah, it's a good time. Yeah, for sure. Hey, Wyatt, you're going to be the Grand Marshal at the U Stampede again? Yeah. For like the fourth year in a row? Yeah. They haven't inducted me as Grand Marshal yet or whatever they call it. How do you get to be the Grand Marshal, though? You've got to be a big deal. Yeah. Wow. Wyatt, are you a big deal in D5? Well, I think once you move away from the town, you lose status of Grand Marshal. We don't call it. Yeah. But you're a legend. You're a legend.

Stay and be a super senior. Never leave. There you go. Yeah, you're going to be 105 and 6 there the next couple of days. Are you going back to the big stampede? I will be at the stampede this weekend, yep. All right. When are you going to scout, Wyatt? The chosen one is returning to the promised land. Why? I need to get scouting as well. Wyatt, you go family stuff left and right, social interactions. I'm not sure how you older boys manage staying married, kids, and all your scouting. We just told them the way it was, Wyatt.

We'll just keep it real. We'll just keep it real by the skin of her. Go grab Carly. We're dang lucky to be married still, Wyatt. And now, once you get over the hump and you're – We'll see if Jana allows you to keep that comment in this podcast or not. Whatever she does, she does. In fact, go grab Carly. We'll talk with her real quick, Wyatt. Trust us. If I die, I die.

Well, all right, Wyatt. You think it's going to be a good year? When are you going to scout? When are you going to start – when do you think we should start scouting? You guys have been hitting hard. Well, we have. But, I mean, it still feels like we've all got to have, you know, something got to happen to get us real excited because a lot of – I need to see antler growth above the ears. Yeah, exactly. That would be nice. It just seems slow out west. We're starting earlier and earlier. This year I have an excuse. I got to start earlier because I'm leaving, but I'm less impressed. But it's early July, so I'm just – anyway. Yeah. It's going to happen. A lot of might be, could be, possibly type stuff that I'm seeing. Are you in a chair, Wyatt? I'm just kind of combing the beach right here, walking around, talking to you guys. You're combing. You got a metal detector in your hand?

I actually just had finished up lunch when you called. What did you have for lunch? Just a sandwich. I'm glad you got to eat, Wyatt. Yeah, that's good. Three o'clock, man. 3.30. You're pushing it. Yeah. Yeah. It's almost inner time for most people. You snuck up to Yardley's twice, haven't you? When they weren't looking.

The Airbnb's right behind Yardley. Hey, you probably stayed in the same one we stayed at. Yeah. They're nice. It's pretty convenient. Yeah, they are nice. They're awesome. They're awesome. All right. Well, have you got any scouting tips for people, Wyatt? Like, what are you going to do? You're going to be scrambling, obviously. You're going to be starting late. Going to be scrambling. Yep. Starting late. Just get out there and do it. That's kind of the biggest tip I have. All right. All right. Well, that's a hell of a good tip there. That's all I got.

Hey, Nike already took that one. Just do it. You got to come up with an OG. Come on. Original statement. I agree with Wyatt. Just do it. He's got to get out there. All right. Well. All right. Well. All right. Keep in the shade somehow, Wyatt. Keep in the shade. That's, I mean. Keep hydrated. If you get so sunburnt and then you can't throw a pack on it, start scouting next week when you're back at it. So keep those things. You don't also put sunscreen on the top of your feet because when you lace your boots on tight and you've got sunburnt feet, it hurts. I burn the top of my feet. It hurts. Yeah. I've been keeping the feet all lathered up. I've had that problem before. Yes. All right. Well, those are just from experience. We've all had to live through that. But anyway. Good luck. How about Casey? You wear a Speedo down there, Wyatt? Yeah. Trying to get a good feel for Wyatt.

I barely wear shorts. Can you imagine a Speedo?

You talking barely on the long end or the short end? Do you have a long sleeve shirt on or a short sleeve or a white beater? What do you got? I'm envisioning a tank top. Are you in a tank? No. No tank tops. What are you? What are you wearing? I just got me a pair of shorts on, board shorts, and some little lightweight shirt. There you go. Well. All right. All right. Well, have fun, Wyatt. Okay. Sounds good. Say hey to Case and just do it. Yeah. That's what we'll do. All right. Talk to you later. Bye-bye. Do you think lightweight shirt means fishnet?

We should have told him to take a selfie and send it to us. He wouldn't do it. Guarantee you he wouldn't do it. Heck no. Heck no. Not a chance. He ain't getting melanoma.

And it'd probably give away the good spot on Lone Rock Beach where it's at. So you're right by yourself. By the in-laws. Blur the background. Well, you're right by yourself. Yeah. You're right by yourself. You're right by the last little quaint spot. 17.2 feet from the next person.

He's great. Just do it. That's my idea. Just get out. Just get out there and do it. All right. So where are we going next, Bronson? What are we doing with this thing? Well, let's elaborate a little bit, I guess. Everybody's kind of, you know, if you're scouting Nevada, you're scouting Utah, you've got about 11 days ahead of you to run your cameras, pull your cameras, service them, you know, hopefully find something. But I think this is going to be a year in these two states where, I mean, that date's coming right upon us. Yeah. Fast. Last night, we were out running cameras for elk, for Justin, and it's one of the few nights that he had available. And he got to talking about kind of traditions and family and some of the stuff we used to do. A lot of it revolved around the trap line. The trail camera. The trail camera trap line. Yeah. Yeah.

He's like, and he said, those are the absolute best days of my life. And I'm like, geez, man, I kind of. Well, and you're like, this is a grind. But yeah, I'm glad. Well, you do like them. Like, I'm like, man, I wish we would have brought a rifle. I mean, there was little critters that needed to die everywhere. And. I've seen coyotes plenty of times and I haven't had a gun. Yeah. And anyway, but it just reminds you, like, just being out, running cameras, it's more than just the camera. Like, there was a lot of family time. Yeah. With me and the kids doing that. You know what I mean? And anyway, you kind of, to have a shortened, to have this little season we got is frustrating. But, you know, it's kind of the times we live in. We've talked a lot about times are changing. Hunting's changing. Well, it is. Scouting's changed. And you're going to have to rely a lot more on good old fashioned.

Glassing. Glassing. And as Wyatt F. Bowles would put it, just get out there and do it. You know? Get out there and turn something up. Yeah. Well, because you figure a lot of bucks, you're not even. If you're solely relying on trail cameras, you're not going to know what a buck's going to finish like. No. What he's even doing. Most of them are maybe half grown and starting to look good by the end of the month. You could tell. But still, there's a lot of deer, especially later, or some of these desert areas that they'll put on a lot. Oh. The last, the first 10 days of August. I've said it before. I've had number 10 on the hit list go to number one. Yeah. From the 1st to the 10th. Yeah. Of August. So, you know, and even. That's what I want to hear. Because I have, I don't even have a 1 through 10 buck right now. Oh. I don't know. You got some that are forking. Well, I've got plenty of those.

Yeah. Plenty of those that are forking. Good, but. Then you get the opposite where elk are almost done. You know, a lot of them. Yeah. But it's, and then, but most of them, I would bet 90% of where that camera's at right now, that bull's not going to be anywhere near it. It's a different deal. In a couple of months when you're going to be hunting them. So. If you have an archery, August, maybe they're sticking around, but it's about your only hope. Yeah. But it's nice. You know, one of the things I like about trail cameras for elk, if, even if you have a little bit of a season, you at least know in your mind, like what antler growth's looking like, because obviously now you go out in the mornings and those bulls, they're getting into the trees so early and they don't come out at night. They just don't. And they're out all night long because it's cool and they can feed.

So you kind of have to rely on cameras in a lot of ways for that. And if you find a bull or some bulls, you at least gives you a gauge on what antler growth's looking like for the year. So you can say, okay, here's high expectation, mid range, you know, this is what's going Josh's got elk on the brain. Yeah. And in New Mexico in October. So it's just kind of a little sleep. You've been traveling, running the trap line in New Mexico. It helps you know what bull to shoot when you do see it in the heat of the moment. Like, I know this bull and you've seen, say, 80% or even. Or I've seen 100, 200 bulls and you're like, I don't have a 350 or 360. Is this a bull I need to kill or no? You don't have to. Exactly. You don't make mistakes when you've got kind of an inventory. Yep. Have an idea. It makes it nice. You have kind of a characteristic you look for. Hey, that one's got short twos.

That's the one I'm after. What it like. It makes it easier in that thick stuff, especially like an archery tag. They're close. If you're in thick, sometimes you only see a tiny little window. Yep. You recognize an extra or a big turn. I had a guy quizzing me about a unit out west, and he's got the muzzle season, which will be the latter portion of September. And, you know, that unit changes 100%. Like, right now, you can hardly even find cows out there. And then all of a sudden, it's a rutting mecca going crazy during his season. And so you just also can't get too discouraged too fast. Yeah. No, exactly. Well, and we have gone from a really good late winter, spring, and then, man, we've had, like, record heat here in the southwest. You know, northern Arizona, Nevada, southern Utah. Well, all of Utah, pretty much. It's been flirting with all-time records.

So, and like I said, then you've got Fourth of July weekend. There's a bazillion people out there side by sides. Every road is, like, powder right now. Like, Jason, I heard you order an air filter for your truck today or something like that. I did. I heard you. Right? Am I right for that reason? 100% right. And I'm going to need some shocks. I'm going to need some struts. I'm going to need. How's the time to do all that stuff? I was doing the whole porpoising thing last night. I know stuff isn't quite right under there. Twisting and turning. Trying to decide how long my warranty's good for. You know down to the mile, don't you? It's definitely a part failure. It's not my fault. But anyway, conditions have turned really, really hot the last two, three weeks. Which is awesome. Yeah. It's actually awesome for scouting. Yeah. The hotter the better.

Like, they're more in a heavy pattern of water. They don't roll them by as much. Water feed, just a real heavy pattern. Although, Josh, like, you're also looking for, you know, general deer and, of course, elk while you're looking for general deer and whatnot. But you're seeing things like they'll feed early and hit the trees early. But I think the deer are completely different than the elk, though. Because I've seen plenty of deer. And when you're out glassing and stuff, deer coming out and they're hitting and that. I think just those elk are just, they're so big. Yeah. So much hotter. Body mass. And they're just, they're sensitive to heat. But elk have to have water. So if you're running cameras. Oh, yeah. They have to have water. Like, right now. More regularly than a buck. Yeah. Yeah. You're just getting them at dark instead of in daylight or whatever. But, yeah.

But I've seen plenty of deer coming out. And when they walk out of the trees, they walk straight to whatever the nearest water source is and hit it. Hit it first before they start feeding or anything else. Anyway, pretty interesting. A lot going on. A lot going on right now. Of course, we've got, you know, there's opportunities out there, too. We've got a new article coming out here shortly in another magazine, Epic Outdoors magazine, coming out that kind of showcases opportunity hunts and things like that if you have an open schedule. Yep. And that'll apply to this summer with a few of the processes like Colorado and others that are Idaho turn back generals and that. They're still ongoing throughout the summer. Colorado will start up here in August.

But it's also to kind of gear you up maybe for next year because some of those states like Idaho, like Arizona, you've got to be on your toes during hunting season this fall, November, December, to try to land something for next year. So pay attention to that in this July-August issue. It should be EMAG maybe next week sometime, John. August, September. August, September instead of July? We call it the June-July. June-July, August-July. Yeah. All right. It's always weird, though, when I'm working on this magazine on July 8th and we call it – we don't call it July. It's just July in my mind. It's always weird when we're working on a magazine. This summer. We've had a little break, bro. That's right. All right. So anyway. I have some other articles. I'm throwing one together for the new NLPRA 14. Pretty awesome. So Josh, let's talk about that.

Like you actually videoed through the 14, the 12, and the 10, right? Uh-huh. Yeah. All of them. And so what – like what did you come away with? All on the same tripod, all on the same object. Same object. Yeah. All at the same time. Mile away, it seems like. Yeah. I did one. I did one at like 1,000 yards.

One of the 1,000 yards and then just to kind of gauge more like magnification and then I was glassing more at a mile as well. Just to kind of see the magnification difference between – from 10 to 14 all the way. Yeah. It was pretty awesome. I mean those – the 12s have been amazing just for the size, for the magnification. But like the clarity and everything that you get through them. But then you add that in a 14, almost 15 power. It's pretty unbelievable. Same clarity. You're just way blown up. Yeah. Like you were showing me the photos and I mean we're looking at like aspens and little sticks. Yeah. And you can see like the contrast there and the sharp lines. It was shocking. Yeah. How they held that. Yep. And to be able to just sit in glass from a mile away and all of a sudden, you know, you see a pickup of deer feeding along in a ridge and, you know, some thick burn and such.

It's where I don't think you could have done it with the 12s. But that extra magnification just brings it that much closer to you and you can pick up on those small movements and stuff. So, yeah, I've only had them for a couple weeks. But those 14s are definitely something that we've all kind of wanted out of the 12s, a little extra magnification. And they hit the nail on the head there. They've been awesome. Does your wife know about the 14s? She's seen them. Yeah. She's seen them. They're green. Whether she knows them. Just like all the others. Whether she read what the numbers were on there and compared them to the other numbers she remembers. Exactly. Who knows? Just hide the boxes. She doesn't care. If you buy all green. She'll get handed a pair every now and then and she just uses them. Oh, these are nice. Yeah. Yeah, they are. Yeah, they are. They're super nice.

You bought them, babe. Thank you. You're half. Yeah.

All right. Well, you know what? We've got some Vienna sausages here. Cash? Let's do it. So, never had a Vienna sausage? Not that I can remember. All right. Bronson, let's key it up a little bit. Let's talk about when you eat these and when you don't. And really, you don't have them on a regular basis. I can smell them from here. Kind of like, what else? Instantly salivating. Gipper snacks. Vienna sausage. Me growing up, it was Ken Percipt snacks and Vienna sausage. I think we all get a Vienna sausage and David gets the goo, right? Cash, yes.

Armageddon.

I don't eat Viennas at home. We're in the office. We're in the podcast. Me either. What do you mean? I eat Viennas on the mountain. Me too. You crack one on the side of a hill. You guys know what that does to me. We've divulged that on the podcast.

That's a good point. I would like to ask Cash, are you familiar with Joey Chestnut? I am. Yep. All right. Hey. Was that you on the rock? He had to sit out this year, Devin. I don't know. I mean, he had sponsorship problems. So do we have to develop a safe word?

Maybe tomorrow. Oh, boy. But how old are you, Cash? I am 26. And you've never had a Vienna sausage? Make him reach his fingers. Yeah. That's his can. He's got to have the full experience. What if the rest of us want one? To my knowledge, I've never had one. I could have when I was a little tiny. I'd not known it, but who knows? You would have known it. Okay. Here we go. Cash is having his first Vienna sausage. Oh, you ate that. I'm not having that bad. Owned it. Like. They're glorious. We never said they were gross. No, they're actually pretty darn good. Yeah. So Josh, tell us about it. Josh has an affection for these. Oh, I love them. Do you? I love them. Really? I mean, you take that over a little fire on the mountain, cook it up a little bit. You know what's amazing? That would be great. You don't have to cook them. You don't have to do anything. Okay.

You know what's amazing to me is they all taste the same, but you know it's not regulated. A certain amount of beak, a certain amount of big foot, a certain amount of, you know, the other end. Mystery meat. Let me just read it. Yeah, go ahead. Read it. But you know. Does somebody have readers? Logan, you read that. They all taste the same. Hold on. Let me turn the light on. My phone light. It's not dark in here, by the way. The oldest guy is trying to read the smallest font. So, what? So the. Okay. Logan. Here we go. Right here. What's the first? Mechanically separated chicken. That's the first ingredient. Mechanically separated? That's what they sweep up off the floor. That's disgusting. Mechanically separated chicken. The front end loader that picks up all the pieces that are on the ground and dumps it into a vat. Okay. We're down. First thing. What's next? Water. Okay. Salt.

Corn syrup. Contains 2% or less of beef. These are chicken. These are chicken. Dextrose. Natural flavors. We like natural flavors.

Dust. Well. Sodium nitrate. Garlic powder. Broth. Chicken broth. I mean. Okay. So, anyway. How do they get them to taste the same every time? Every time. There's a warning here about. It's kind of weird. What? The fluid. Don't drink the fluid or something. No, there's not. Devin. It's more. It probably says don't drink the goo. You'd probably be amazed if you put that under a microscope how disgusting it actually is. No. No. Like a hot. I feel. FDA. This is FDA approved and they would not hurt you. No, that's not going to hurt you. They want what's best for you. No, it's not going to hurt you. I feel like they've changed the recipe though. Because I swear it's in like juice now when it used to be kind of jealous. Well, if it gets cold, it's 100 degrees. Solidify. It is 95 degrees. That could have turned to that color just from when Wendy brought it from the gas station here.

It's late in the day. You would just smoke out Miranda. Maybe we're fine to try one. He's going to have one. There you go. There you go. Atta boy. I like it. It takes you back. I love that we wanted one can and we got three. To an old mahogany ridge. Jump on high and went. Trying to get a little fire. You guys are in Arizona. Went into a little teepee. Tired. 2022, 2021. When was that? Walked seven miles and never saw one elk. Yeah. Two dudes with 30 fingers digging into the. Same can. Being a sausage can. Who cares? Okay. Here we go. John. I had one already. They're great. Cash Logan. Hey, this is the end piece. Of what? That's an end piece. That's the lucky one. Eat the tail. Oh, there you go. Cash. They have tails. Joey's chestnut that thing. Do you think the ingredients in this one are the same that are in this one? You never know. Who wants those? Can't believe you never had a beer.

Bronson, you have to have one. I have. That's right. I had a good lunch today. I just didn't keep it that way. I'm a bachelor right now, so I eat whatever I want. You own yourself. I'm a Malley Bear. Blue Bonnet? No. No, they didn't. That was a phase, man. How's the dogs? Have you checked in on the dogs? No. Are they living with you? Mm-mm.

No. Doggy, they care. I'm busy, and they know that I'm busy, and they fear for those dogs' lives. So it's 105 degrees or 100 degrees. They know that if I go scouting. They drink two cups of water a day. They know that if I go scouting all day long, they're going to be on the back porch all day, and that something could happen. Barking at golfers. Pretty much. Barking at golfers. But hey, they're well taken care of. So these Vienna sausages, they've kept a lot of hunters alive. Oh, yeah. Like, it's a staple item when you're in the hills. It's true. Kipper snacks. I don't feel as good about Kipper snacks. I took more Kipper snacks than these when I was a kid. That's just what my dad took, so that's what we took. I just don't. I like them okay. Smoked oysters. I like them. The oysters are no joke. They are good. I love them. I used to eat them just for a snack at home. They're good. Yeah.

Don't know that they're that healthy for you. They're kind of disgusting looking. You're having the entrails and all the goo in the middle. All this is just garbage. Survival food. Leftovers is what it is. It's garbage. So if it wasn't for hunting, this business would go dead. Yeah. Right here. It feels like it. You know. With Vienna sausages, it would be no more. Before today, I've never had a Vienna sausage. Watch out. Oh, not on a hunt. Oh, okay. Like, only on a hunt. Same with Kipper snacks. People don't willingly eat these when there's other food. Well, have you ever had pigs in the blanket made with these, though? No. Like my mom would make these hot dogs. You get those. I grew up on Spam. You get those. Well, the same type thing. But you get those rolls that are in the thing. You have to open up and they blow up. And you just wrap them in and throw them in the oven.

They're not bad. Huh. That's a quick. I've done little Smokies that way. But not. Same type. You know what's interesting is these don't go bad. It could be 110. It could be negative 10. And they're always good for you. You know what I mean? And we're referring to the sausage. Not the whole can. Yeah. Yeah, not the good. Do not drink the fluid.

Who did that? All of it. Drink it all, I think. I did two cans. John, is Vienna a French word? Or is that something else? Is that a city? I think it's a city in Italy. Italy? Okay, sorry. I don't know my European geography. Yeah, that says sausage of Vienna. Vienna in Italian. So that's Italian? Yeah. Is it? I thought it might be French, John. Austria. Austria's capital. Really? That's the city of Vienna. Oh, okay.

Devin, let's talk about some landowner tags. We've got some landowner tags available, actually. Yeah. And in New Mexico, and they're unit-wide, so they've got two different types of tags. You've got unit-wide tags and ranch-only tags. Ranch-only, you can't leave the ranch. And so, anyway, down there, and if you have a unit-wide tag, you can go on other ranches that have tags that are designated unit-wide. Correct. So that would be open to you, too. Equal access, they can still lock their gates, and you have to walk in or whatever. So there's nuances that way. May or may not be an awesome beast property. Yeah. May just access the forest. Some units, like 17, has some property that kind of gives good access to the forest if you know what you're doing there. For most units, that isn't a must. You don't really. You're in a wide tag, you're probably not that critical.

But we're seeing, there's quite a few tags, and so guys that want a good elk tag, and actually, Bronson, we've talked about this, too, and you guys, like, with the restrictions on muzzlers being iron sights, there's an increase in quality. On top of the fact, second-west-west year in a row, you know, really good, solid feed. And so the projections are awesome. I think it's even going to get better, honestly. Which, if you can ever draw an archery tag, too, in these same units in the next few years, I think the quality bulls is gradually starting to come up. Most outfitters, more people live there are telling you that. And some of these units, like 15, actually was good prior to this. It's not like they were ever bad.

It's just that you throw long-range equation into muzzleload hunting, and over the years, you've been more and more refined at killing good bulls on these units, even on five-day seasons. But now you take an open sight set up, and you're just not going to be as effective. You're not. Or you can't pass as many nice bulls hoping to hold out for something that squeeze me. Well, I mean, we downed one can sitting fast. We? You and I haven't even had one. That's all right. The other thing with those muzzleloader tags, I'm just thinking, is if you had a youth hunter, the dates you get. So I did that with Sean one year. Yeah. I took a landowner tag. Now it's kind of a spoiled kid. That's a spoiled kid. But it was also 10-plus years ago or 12. But he was really young. Oh, maybe. Dude, he was like 10 years old. And we had, because there's no age. We got a good deal on one, I remember.

And you said, I'm going to take him. I'm going to take him. Because it was like the first or second year he could hunt. Maybe the first. Yeah. And anyway, had a big muzzleloader back then. Just a big old. Anyway, and put it on there with the claw or whatever on a tripod, and we sat water. But it was awesome. Killed a bull. Well, he killed a five-point bull, but actually didn't have the bolt locked all the way down. It was partway up. And that firing pin hit the primer, but didn't hit it hard. And it didn't go off on like a 370 bull. Oh. I mean, it was. It was a heartbreak. Old dad struggled for a minute. Sean was like, let's go look at another one, you know, and was ecstatic with the five-point bull. But I mean, I'm talking a giant. Well, you would have shot. You would have been. I would just like. Anyway. I can still picture it in my mind. So what do we got? We got some 15 muzzleloader.

At least one or two. I mean, by the time this goes to air, I mean, they're going to go fast. 15 muzzle. We've got archery. 6C archery. Yeah. Unit 9. Unit 9. 16B. 16E. Yeah. 21A. Like, there's options. Yeah. So, anyway, if you're looking for something fairly inexpensive or even a high-quality tag, you know, we've got something there for you and definitely gives you a great opportunity to be able to hunt big bulls on a great year. You choose your season, whether it's archery or muzzle or rifle, you know, when you type in your codes. When you get a mature bull tag, you've got either a rifle, if there's rifle, seasons, or a muzzle. You can validate for the season of your choice. Three seasons, yeah, pick one when you want. Or four if you've got a youth, like Devin said, and you go that early October time frame. But an archery, you get to pick early or late, either one of the two.

Fully transferable, you know, no issues with that or nuance like Colorado or anything like that. That's another end. I've never, I don't think I've ever seen an end. In my life. We've got two in a row. Hey, I typically buy a different brand. I typically buy a different brand, but what do you mean? What do you mean? I didn't even know they make other brands of this. There's only one kind of Vienna sausage. I never even knew they made other brands. Isn't that a copyrighted name? They probably called something else.

I don't know. I've got some on the table. That's disgusting.

This is from the Expo. You know how many germs are on from the Expo? There's a big footprint right here. America's favorite? No, it's a lie. It's Josh's favorite. From Vienna. Wow.

So anyway, pretty awesome opportunities down there. You know, Devin, I wanted to talk a little bit, but you went out and shot that Lil' pulled one power scope on your muzzleloader. I was probably the most skeptical one, let's be honest. A little bit. Yeah. Well, you've killed bucks open sights. You've killed bucks open sights in Nevada, Bok, whatever. Yeah. At how many yards? 200. 220. So then you're like, well, how could this be better, right? Tell us about it. Yeah. I mean, if both muzzleloaders are sitting there and I can choose either one, I'd choose the red dot. No question. I shot it four times, zeroed it, basically fouled it. Three shots. My fourth shot was a 200. Smoked a milk jug. Well. No problem. It got windy, so I didn't shoot as much as I wanted, but now I'm there. Confident. Yeah. Dialed it. This would be legal for- Dialed it to 5 MOA. Poof. Really? Smoked a milk jug.

So you dialed it from the factory dial. The factory dial. That's awesome. It was pretty awesome. I already had the load data from the floor. Did you need your readers? That little dial has small shotters. So you adjust them. What do you mean you had the load data? You'd already shot it and chrono'd it? Yeah. Okay. Previously with a scope. So I knew the load already. Oh, I gotcha. Yeah. So that was- This is for Utah. I didn't have to do that. Yeah, that's for my Utah muzzleloader, but- Stripped the magnified off, put one of those on, and unfortunately, we're kind of waiting for those. Those were a big rush for a couple of months. Well, the Vortex and the Lowepold. Then all of a sudden, they're both claiming- Now they're all out of stock. Well, I wonder why these were so exciting. The best part about it is the adjustment of the brightness. I had that thing so fine that I mean, it was-

You could even- Wasn't a big starburst thing on there. It was 200 yards. Barely set. Not covering a whole milk jug. Like you could see the top to bottom. So if I remember right- I could hold off. I held about five inches from wind. You had a little bit of eye surgery. And if I remember right, you were talking about diagonal dots and kind of some crazy stuff. But you got it fine, and you were fine. Well, when it gets brighter, it feels like it gets bigger. Takes over. Yeah, if it's too bright- It's not- Even if you wear readers or have astigmatism, the brighter it is, the harder it is to see. It's just- It's just the way it is. But I could get it down enough. It was fine. No problem. So what do you think? Did it feel like you could extend your range even further? No problem. Dial it and go. Yeah. So what you're saying is- I can't wait to shoot it again. I just- So the people that-

So what you're saying is the people that be in Utah that changed this, they didn't do nothing for you is what you're saying.

Don't go. Don't get me started. Don't get me started. But no, it's- Yeah, I mean, I feel like it would depend on the situation, how much of the deer you could see. But if there's a buck standing in the open, you can see it. He's dead 10 out of 10 times. I think at 300 yards, done deal. No wind, you dial. You can go. Yeah. That dot will not cover the whole body. I wonder what the range of adjustment is. I wonder how many MOA it will dial. That's definitely- So they have 15 MOA of adjustment in them. And you were at 200. That's going to be- Yeah, I was five at 200. Five MOA. So you're probably- Well, we've heard- Zero to 100. You guys shooting 400. So you were zero to 100 and added five to hit 200. Okay. 4.75. Yeah. And you're shooting 84 grains of black horn. Is that- LRX. Weighted. Yep. 250 grain Barnes. TMZ. Okay. They work. CVA. Yeah. LRX. LRX. I'm getting ready. I'm going to be-

It was awesome. 50. It was awesome. I'm going to be shooting a Parker 300 grain Black Max. But I haven't yet on that particular rifle. So- Killed lots of stuff. Yeah. I was impressed with them. I was very impressed. Well, what was impressive? Have you killed bucks and bulls with that bullet? Uh-huh. No, I just mean that. Just the- But that bullet, have you shot- Did you shoot your Nevada buck with that bullet? With that exact 250 grain? A couple of holes. You saw it. Yeah. Your brother killed his bull. What? The two years ago. What about his buck? Another brother? What about his buck? Another buck tag last- I mean, you guys have been smoke-blowing son of a gun.

Yeah. You guys, that partnership's worked well. Oh, come on.

You're the sole owner. I am the sole owner of that muzzleloader. It's worked well for them. It's worked well for them. It's worked well for them. The thing they didn't think about was we'd already did the load data. That was good. Yeah, we were kind of sharing that. And all of a sudden, another brother was sharing it because he drew a tag next to you. You know, you own 25% of a muzzleloader. So, I don't know how the brother thing works. Sounds like- But he's got three of them. Yeah. There's four of them, plus a dad. I don't know if he was in on it. No, we X'd him out.

That's good. All right. Well, at least you didn't have to buy out four partners, only three. Yeah. Yeah. What speed does it shoot? I haven't chronographed. I can't remember. We did get all the data, but I bet we have it written down somewhere. Yeah. I'm sure. I need to get that. Broughton, have you been shooting your bow? Yep. I've been shooting a little bit. It's impressive. They don't need a lot of adjustment. No tweaking. And I'm going to say that word. You're not a tweaker? You just said, I'm not a tweaker. I'm not a tweaker. I said it last summer, and I mean it. Are you in denial? I stick to it. No. That's the first step. I got the same bow out. That's the first accepting it. I got the bow out. I have two. I have an aluminum hoyt, and I've got a carbon. And so I like to shoot them both. And I just, you never know when you're in the middle of a year. And I mean, I don't.

You trip and fall, and then all of a sudden, there you are. You hit a string, whatever. Something weird. It doesn't matter. It hadn't ever happened to me, but it's happened to enough people that I hear about. If that happens in the middle of something, you've got a bad problem in the middle of an incredible hunt. Especially if you're out of state somewhere. You don't even know you're, you know, if you don't work on it all yourself and have your own bow press and everything like that, you're not capable of doing all that and taking it with you and doing it. You don't know anybody. So anyway. So yeah, I go back and forth on those. And man, they're just. So I've got to ask what Jace says. Does Becky know about that? Oh. They're both green. Becky knows what Becky needs to know. Both my bows are green. Becky knows what Becky needs to know. All she knows is the freezer gets meat put in it.

She doesn't ask questions. She's ecstatic. That's right. You're the man. Anyway. I shot mine. Same thing. Yeah. Same. Right where you left it. Don't need to drink. Even with my bad eye. Your bow? Oh, yeah. Mine was the same way. I shot it like 15 times. I was like, man, I'm. The biggest thing would be muscle. Just being able to. It is. And I've been holding it. Working out on that. And it's helped a lot. You know, you do get kind of back in shape doing upper body stuff. And it allows you. You're steadier. Especially if you shoot 10 or 15, 20 plus times. You know. But it's good. But now I mainly go out and I shoot like eight arrows a night. And I call it a night. It probably helps. It's like at the gym. And you like. Like the selfie. Oh, yeah. Kind of like drawing your bro. Yeah. Drawing your bro bow. When you get to do selfies. I haven't been in a gym since a church basketball game.

That's the last time I was in a gym. That was probably 10 years ago. Got kicked out, didn't you? Yeah, I was going to say they exile you from that. There are some stories. There are some stories involved in that. Oh, boy.

The thing I do, too, always is my last shot. I'll put a timer on my phone or something. And hit a minute. And then try to shoot like 10 yards. It's so hard. But just to just get that muscle built. It's awesome. It is harder than you would think. And you've got to be close. Because you can get a flyer on one of those. You get out 30 or 40 yards, you'll miss a target. It's like 15 yards. And still, you're just like, okay, my time's up. Now I've got to settle in and shoot. It is hard. Anyway. Yeah. So, yeah. Of course, you can get an accu-bow. Those are good things to do. So, yeah. I'm feeling good. But it's going to be kind of weird. Because I'm going to be shooting a bow, shooting a bow. And then I come, when I come back from up north, I'm like a few days away from that. Go time in the south. I'm going to be putting broadheads on here next week.

And then not see my bow until, you know, like five days before the season again. So, it's going to be interesting. Never done it quite this way before. Every year. That's what I find. Every year is unique. This year is going to be unique for me, depending on the tags you have, the time you have, the weather conditions. It's, you know, early monseons, late monseons, whatever. You know, but this year, it's going to be heavy glassing. That's why I had to have the 14 pluses right off the bat. You know. Heavy glassing. Hopefully, while I'm gone, mine show up. Because I was, I'll just put it out there. I was nice enough to pump mine down to somebody that was on the waiting list. John did, too. I did, too. You're welcome. So did I. Yeah, Devin. Not me. Josh, how about you? I kept mine. Never been for himself around here. I feel good about it. I hope that supply chain just keeps coming.

Your wife loves them. Yeah, she does. The best vinyl she's ever owned.

All right. So, okay. So we got tags. We've also got some hunts available. Devin, you've been working on some of that. Anything top of mind? That's stone sheep. Stuff comes in every day. It's awesome. Stone sheep come in the other day. It's changing all the time. Stone sheep. Just had a moose for two cancellation. You could do grizzly or moose. And it's still available, as far as you know. Yeah. Good. Half off. Oh, killer deal. Going to have to call people who are on our list, who got on the list for cancellations. Occasionally, I'll email that stuff out. But, yeah, there's stuff happening every day this time of year. It's good. I actually got to move some cameras. What do you mean? You're going to Zeiss. Yeah, I thought we were going to Idaho. Well, after that. After. Saturday. Saturday. You got to move cameras? Yeah, a few of them. We're all doing that. What's happening?

Well, cows bump them, and horses bump them. They rub on them. Sheps move in. A whole herd of ships. I mean. And elk and ships don't get along very well. When I was a kid, I had to drive through a whole herd of ships at midnight. They were all stand-eating across the road. It was pretty amazing. It's a shame they taste. It's a shame they taste so amazing, or I'd hate them even worse. They're disgusting. You throw them in a Dutch oven, though, and burn them for an inch of their life. So what are you moving the cameras for? Just same kind of thing as we were talking about earlier. You know, you got, well, trying to find a buck, for one, because I've had cameras up for a while. I haven't had a good buck, so I've got to move some. And then with some elk cameras, you get, I've seen them, I don't know, I don't know if it's on a lot of units,

but some units elk will do some weird shifts where they kind of move up to some high country, and then they'll move down, and a lot of them will move down here in the next couple weeks to where they're going to settle in to strip and rut and get ready. But there hasn't been any elk in those areas as up to this point, so you've just got to move some of those. Anticipating. Yeah, you've got to be more on top of it. Like, I'm only going some of these seven to ten days, because the window of time is running out so much that if you neglect one for an extra seven days and find out it was spun by a cow or a horse or something like that, because there wasn't anything perfectly to anchor it into a tree or something else. I mean, not every place is the same where you put cameras. Sometimes they're in a sagebrush. You know, you're just trying to get lucky.

And there's, you know, Jason's had road graders take out cameras and stuff before. Do you remember that? How do you remember that? He piled one up. Yeah, he did. He took out the tree, took out everything. Took out the tree. And there's my camera janked up. I mean. And then I grab the cart out, and I can see the great, I can see, well, it was like a cat or something. But coming, coming, coming, smash. Just roll that in a windrow of dirt. Jeez. I mean, so, I mean, it doesn't matter. And you know that guy, he totally enjoyed that. Yeah. Or he didn't see it. I don't know. Oh, he saw it. But, I mean, there's just stuff that happens. There's weird stuff. The cows aren't there. Now they throw in cows, and you're on the water. That you weren't really worried about cows being out. Now you've got 40 of them rubbing on everything around there, and you've got problems.

The more you put into the camera work, the more you get out of them. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. That's what I find. You check them regular. Yeah. You're adjusting batteries, birds. Yeah. Cameras malfunction. Yeah. And you're constantly managing them. You leave it too long, and then all of a sudden, you've got one week left, and you might have missed something there. And you're like, I'm just going to pull this one. There's some guys that'll put them out, and then pick them up. That's all they do. That's right. And then you've got, whatever, maybe one out of eight or one out of six or whatever. Oh, yeah. That malfunction of some sort. A battery got pulled out just a little bit. You had flapping grass, and it filled up your card in six days because you took 10,000 pictures in six days because you had it set too close.

You've got a certain owl that decides to perch in front of it for the next, you know, for 10 hours out of the day, every single day. Like, stuff happens. Yeah. I've had elk come up, you know, especially back when you could run cameras in the hunts. You get elk that would wallow, and they'd bring their face up there and throw mud right on your lens. And then until it rained, you didn't even get a real picture. Remember those days, Pollock? Yeah. I mean, you'd get mud on there. I've had people put mud on there. So people can fart with your cameras and throw mud on the lens and stupid stuff, you know. So, yeah, just a lot of that. I'm going – I'm running in circles is really what I'm doing right now. It's the same circle. Well, yeah. I'm not quite in that circle routine. I'm still in the distribution. Well, you have an extra week. Yeah. You have an extra week.

I've got 14 units, women and children that need cameras out and about. Every night's a unique night. Yeah. Well, and then you'll get down to that last week. Then you'll rain in a few of the outliers. That's what I'm going to try to do for some of you guys and hopefully have you a nice, concise, tight little list of like – Go get these for Mr. Bronson. Here's my cameras and do not make me a felon. Pick them up by the 31st. Between Devin and I, we'll get them snagged up. I'm sure. I think there's many cameras probably been burned up a little bit this year. Possibly. Oh, yeah. Normally. Yeah. Possibly. Probably not much on that Ponce country. No. But the beaver, maybe. Maybe. I was asking that question about that elk ranch on that north end. If that turn blue north, I don't know if that's still working. Yeah, it's still there. You have a bunch of bulls roaming free. It's still there.

Luckily, it's a pretty hefty fence. It'll have to take some high heat to – Well, if it's metal, but you get some H-braces that are made out of wood, and all of a sudden they – Well, if it's a tree, no one will run. A tree falls over. I mean, you get a tree – From the social media posts I'm seeing, it's scary out there. It is. I think, you know, the hometown heroes are keeping it safe. Yeah, they are. They're doing well and keeping it at bay. You need all the help you can get in some of these fires, for sure. Fully equipped, head to toe, protected.

But we are Thursday. Going to go shoot some guns, I think. What are you guys going to do? Thursday, Friday. Shooting school? No, we're just going to go up – Try some optics on. Yeah, they've got some stuff coming out they want us to see and teach us about. And, I don't know, they just said show up with hearing protection and eye protection, and you're going to shoot all the bullets you want. So, that's what we're going to do. Product testing? Is that really all you're going to take? I'll probably take a pillow. Maybe, like, a little roll-up mattress or whatever. Maybe a canvas cutter. You can lay on the canvas cutter and, you know. Yeah, lay on that. That'd be good. If I get a bunch of, you know, once-fired 7PRC brass, I'll bring it all back. Oh, jeez. Josh would be like, one for me, one for the box. What do you need?

You need more. I'll trade you for powder. Hey, it is an election year. It is an election year. It's more prepared for whatever. And what happens about every four years? Tell me what happens. Shortages. Problems. Not in your basement. For the last 12 years or so, it's happened. Tell me I'm wrong. Not in your basement. It feels like this year hasn't been that way, though. Yeah, it never happens until it gets close and then after. It never happens the six months prior. October. It's going to hit you. My favorite's when the shortages hit, the 70-year-old guys come out that have 14,000 rounds in their basement. And I'm turning into that. And they've got to hoard more. That's their daily routine. When I work in the count, they beat you every time. They know when Walmart gets restocked with 22 long rifles. I'll never need to buy 22 bullets for the rest of my life.

Let's write that down. There's 75 or 80-year-olds. Let's write that down. There's 75 or 80-year-olds that can put your stock to shame. Huh? Oh, yeah. They can. And they don't even shoot 22 anymore. No, they don't care. Yeah. It's just about winning. It's just about winning. They have nothing else going on in their life. They truly think that this will be currency at some time. They can. I need a dozen eggs. Here's 50, 22 bullets. Remember, we'd go down to Walmart and you would stand there. They know when the trucks come. They have it all cataloged out, when to be there. And they got a little line. And it goes, the first guy in line is 82 years old. The next guy in line is 81 years old. The next guy in line is 78 years old. In order of when they woke up, right? The oldest guy gets up the earliest. And they make this line of 10 or 12 guys. And then you got a 12-year-old on the end.

And they're not going to sell him anything.

I mean, you can't even take his hunter safety course. He has no bullets. It's so wrong. I mean, Pollock was even throwing out high figures today, buying either large or large rifle magnum primers from me. I think today. I don't know. Are you low? Are you? I've got thousands. Are you lean? Me too. Yeah. I mean, because you can't find them. I've got thousands. Like, you can't find them. Gold medal match. Well, so do I. But, I mean, you going to say that live on a hot mic? Well, I mean, to Pollock, sorry. I forgot we were on the mic. I need to build some Vera Flames for a muzzleloader. And so, I don't know. I've probably got enough. Just decide if you want magnums or gold medal match. That's what we need to tell them. If you want gold medal match, I'll let you know. Large or large magnum. Decide. They'll both work. And then you've got Winchester. Then you've got Federal. Then you've got CCI.

I mean, what are you going to go with? Federal gold medal match, 215s. Well, yeah, but that's. They're legit. They are. I don't want to part with them. You said decide. I don't. I don't want to part with them. I can't do it. I've got plenty I'll part with. I'm the 12-year-old at the back of the line in front of the old guys.

The thing is, if you weren't one of us, I would sell you some. But since you're 12. He's going to bring me one. Son, you're going to learn. He's going to bring me one and have a sit at my desk tomorrow. There you go. And if you were worth your salt, you'd have got up at four like me. Yeah. Started with coffee.

Coffee. No creamer. Straight black. These guys. They're no joke. They're the same guys that beat you to the yard sales. They beat you. Oh, yeah. They're still listening to Tradio. Yes. Yeah, exactly. Everybody else on Facebook. Yeah, exactly. Marketplace. All right. Are we done with this thing? Are we still? I think we're out of Vienna almost. Thankfully. Let's open it up another can. No. Stay here a little longer. 14 grams of protein in these things. Oh, jeez. They're not bad. I mean, it is 50% of your daily sodium intake. Yeah. 40% of cholesterol. Nitrates and stuff. There you go. Healthy. Salt. You know, they used to say that salt was bad for you. Now they're saying salt's good for you. What is it? Good or bad? They can't make up their mind. Is Redmond, do you think Redmond's salt's in these? No. There's no way. That's the bleached pure white that they put in there.

Redmond's salt's worth money. Yeah. It's actually from Mother Earth. It's just the burst of juicy, salty goodness when you bite into them. These were in the dustpan after they cleaned up the floor. Yeah, you won't get it anywhere else. You don't get it anywhere else. No. You can't. Here. Let's open up this one. That one's going dry. Nobody wanted the end. Just dip it in the can, Carter. That's the lucky one. Look at that. Pollock's always good for it. It's definitely the tip of the beak.

Let's give a shout out to some sponsors. Let's give a shout out to QU. And I have a good tip for them. If you get on their website and you sign up for the alerts, they've got some pretty decent sales that they send right to your phone. And so I'm signed up for those and ordered quite a bit of stuff off of those. Did you? Yeah. Off of those alerts. Good. That's good. Yep. I had somebody hit me today. Hey, how do we get a deal on QU? They work with you guys. There's no deals through Epic necessarily. Yeah. Although, they do offer some deals on their website. So go check them out. Subscribe to it. We have accounts like everybody else. You put your phone number in and you sign up for the alerts and it comes right and you click on it. It goes right to the seat. Some of that stuff sells out really fast when they do that.

It's usually stuff they're wanting to move or maybe they've got a slightly newer model coming out. But not always. It's just sometimes just want to move it. Yeah. And sometimes it's phenomenal deals. I got like a range finder holder for nine bucks. Jeez. Yeah. Good deals on that. Got to finish shopping up on there, Devon. Maybe a few more things we need. Yeah. You guys are, I'm going to get home and you guys are going to be next. I mean, you guys, you guys are going to be, you know. Looking forward to it. Head north. Yeah. Klondike. I got one of their sleeping bags. I need to order the wedge deal. I had to get the wedge. I tested it out. The wedge. Yeah. They have an expander. It's legit. I know. I like to move around a little bit.

Also, a little shout out to Thompson. Thompson Long Range, super good guys up there. Thompson Long Range dot com. The shooting weather bees. Of course, they've got their own scope and set up with reticles. You know, a variety of calibers, but kind of built off the 3378. Just an awesome group of guys that know what they're doing. And it was kind of my initial introduction to long range. Me too. Shot, yeah. Shot Chief with their gun. Just a number of great animals right off the bat. And that was, yeah, back in the day when I didn't know anything about long range. So, oh, a lot to Mark Thompson.

Again, very knowledgeable. Scotty Thompson. He's shooting coyotes. Who knows how far? 1,400 plus yards. I know guys that have watched. But anyway, just great. They also shoot the .257. Of course, had one of those rifles too. It was awesome. That was fun. I've been there a couple different times to their course and took a client up there one of the times and he bought 3370 and that .257. That was a sweet little shooting gun. Yeah. No recoil. It's kind of like the PRC-ish size, you know, just a great lighter weighing gun, you know, good antelope deer, you know, some deer, you know, sheep. Definitely. So they got complete packages. The entire package out the door, you know, around $3,900. $1,900. Yeah, you can take the gun that you put together that day and shoot and take it home if you like it. You bond with it, which you're probably going to bond with it.

When you bring steel out to 1,000, you're going to bond with it. So anyway, ThompsonLongRange.com, 435-713-4248. Get them a holler. Lastly, I guess I'll just kind of repeat again. Zeiss, they've been a great partner with us here at Epic Outdoors. Sell all their products. Very heavy, you know, here. A lot of rifle scopes as well. So it'll be interesting to see what you guys see this weekend up there, if they have any new reveals or if it's just, you know, I think they're maybe hinted to some of that. We'll see. Might have something new to talk about in a week too. Yeah. We'll come back and talk about them. But a great product. Not just rifle scopes, but, you know, binoculars as well as spotting scopes and, you know, thermal stuff that's come out, you know, improved upon, stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. Yep.

Give us a call if you're looking for something there to, you know, outfit your stuff. It feels like we always say it, but it is the time too. I mean, we do have a big inventory of stuff here. But don't wait until last minute if you know you're going to need something this year. I mean, there's stuff that happens. Shortages or whatever like that. And we're seeing it a little bit with some of those one powers that we talked about. Yeah. Crosshairs and red dots and, you know, until Utah changed it and Washington decided to change it in the same year. You know, those are on the shelf everywhere. Now they're not. So not that we foresee stuff like that happening between now and the hunts, but you just never know if you need it. Give us a call. Make you a great deal. Well, the thing about it is we do really good at ordering and keeping a good stock of things

to have for what we kind of calibrate as standard ordering. You know, guys over time just ordering certain things. But I know last year a lot of guys seem to wait until a week before their hunt. And then all of a sudden you have four guys wanting a BTX or a 115 on your thing. I have a feeling this year that's going on too. It's going to happen. People are waiting. And Amazon's created that a little bit, like just this just-in-time inventory type idea where they can just get it and immediately expect it. And so we've kind of had a lot of things on the shelf. Had a client that's bought two of the same exact rifle scope. Again, we all do this. I like this scope with this gun and da-da-da. And this works and this works. And it's the only one that works for me. And it's what they know and like. Well, I had a guy call in and say, hey, I want another one, third one. And we have them, right?

We have them because we're kind of predicting some of that. But it's created that mentality of I can buy it. I want it. I'm going to buy it. And it's going to come to me with free shipping right now. You know what I mean? And so anyway, we've had to adapt with that whole mentality of not willing to wait for anything. And the thing that's tough about it is once we can, you know, I can take your order and say, okay, we can get it one day air or whatever. Once it leaves this office, it's kind of, it's out of our hands. And at the mercy of whoever and shipping these days, it gets pretty crazy. I mean, we've got stuff just to get mailed to us. I don't know. It goes. I've had packages. I had a package over that muzzle brake. It came from like Logan, went to Salt Lake, went clear to Vegas, and then back up to us. Like it was almost like it passed us twice to get here, you know?

So anyway, so then last year we were trying to run into issues of guys waiting until the last minute and then wanting it the next day. And then once it leaves us. Relying upon UPS or USPS. And these buzz loader scopes are similar. Like they were available. Everybody knew it. And then, you know, but you just assume, well, you know. Well, and we said it. We have them. We have them. We have them. Call, call, call. And a lot of people did. I mean, hundreds. Now we don't have them. We got rid of them. Yes. And so it's not like people didn't listen. But there were some that either decided they, you know, thought they were going to do open. Open sites and decided against that. Once they got out there and realized they hadn't shot open sites for 15 years and they'd look through that and go, whoa, I don't like the looks of that. You know, I need a red dot. I've picked up readers since.

You know, Devin. Adam. Devin's had some major surgeries.

Kind of getting him cleaned up. I'm good, man. I'm good. He's good. And it's not to cause panic. But if you know you're needing a muzzleloader scope, just get it. You know, some of that kind of stuff. If you know you need a spotting scope. If you know you need a spotting scope for a hunt coming up, a pair of binoculars or something, just do it. Doing a lot of price checks. You know, we're the best deal out there. Yeah. So at least call us if you're looking and do a price check with us. For sure.
