That is going to post results tonight. It's going to be Midnight Madness. The number of tags in each unit was allocated properly. Sage, desert type. You know, a lot of the country we end up hunting. Don't leave your brain at home. Anything to do with Western big game.
Welcome to the Epic Outdoors podcast, powered by Under Armour. All right, let's get started. Hey, everybody. Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, and the boys. Introduce yourselves. Wyatt. John. Devin. We're here. Devin. Chris. Chris. Chris is at the keyboard. He knows what he's doing over there. What are you doing over there, Chris? Same thing you're doing over there. Podcast.
Good to know. Good to know. All right. Well, we'd like to thank Under Armour for sponsoring this podcast. As we get cranking, we just wanted to throw one out today. Today's kind of a special day, Bronson. Why don't you tell us what might happen at midnight? Well, Pacific time, yes. One o'clock mountain. What is that? I don't know. Two o'clock central. Three o'clock eastern. I don't know. Is that right? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Nevada's going to crush email results. Nevada's going to post results tonight. A couple days earlier, it's kind of been a tradition for a lot of years. I've been bear hunting a lot of years on the San Juan when Nevada comes out, you know, 3.34 in the afternoon. And you've got to be on a – I planned my glassing point that afternoon and evening in a strategic location just to keep some hope and excitement alive.
And it'd get crushed fast and I'd bail off into the canyon just because I was sick that I waited that long. But today they're going to come out a couple days earlier this year. So, yeah, going to be some lucky people tomorrow this time. We'll be talking to people that are booking hunts, planning hunts, buying optics, buying trail cams for the two months that they can use them in Nevada.
Of epic proportions. That's right. All that, you know. So, that's a good point you bring up as far as if you do need some gear. Think about us. We've got it stacked in the back. Happy to sell you some new optics with great prices. So, anyway, lots of exciting times right now. We've had some draw results come out. Wyatt and Devin, we decided to take one day off and you guys got crushed. What happened last Friday? Yeah, so Utah ended up posting their draw results as well as Idaho. On Friday, we decided – Adam's in the hills. I'm in the hills. Two different places. Two different states. And these poor fellers got crushed. Yeah, it was unpredictable. And we kind of left them holding a bag. Felt a little bad. I think it was good for them. You know, not that they're not capable. It's just that you never – you know, we thought it was going to be a fairly benign Friday.
And we'll just sneak out for maybe a three-day weekend in the hills. And by 10 o'clock, it was widely apparent that this was going to be busy.
By 10 o'clock, they didn't even have time to get half a text out. I did like half a word and a couple other periods. We're alive. Yes. We're fine. Got to go. Some auto replies. Uber Eats was bringing them food. Who paid for that anyway? What was it, like 3 o'clock? I walk over to Wyatt, open the window. I'm like, we should probably eat eventually. It was a good day. It was pretty funny because you guys have – so Adam and I sit between you two. And you two are, in theory, in different basic buildings. I don't call it buildings, but portions of the office. But you can see each other through the windows. I told Jenna, she's like, what are you thinking about? I said, honestly, I'm thinking, okay, nobody's in the office except for Wyatt and Devin and the gals. And I can just picture Wyatt taking his computer, setting up at my desk, putting his feet up on my desk.
So he's close to Devin and they can just yak back and forth on who's drawing what and outfitters. And I said, and? I kind of hope they do it. Just don't tell me about it. But I don't want to know. I don't want to picture Wyatt's muddy feet up on my desk. Come back in one day and be like, my chair's adjusted. Something happened here. Something happened. Yeah, no, there was none of that. Just a lot of yelling through the windows on what was going on. Pretty awesome this year. Yeah. Did you examine your earpiece and headset closer that day, Jason? Do you think it might have got used by somebody? Oh, there was a few skin flakes from somebody's inner ear on my headset. Kind of grossed me out for a minute. Oh, I had to COVID clean that thing. Let's call Nevada. What I want to do is I want to know for a fact. I'm not screwing around.
I want to know from Jack himself that these results are coming up. Because I'm not going to lay awake. Think about it. Wyatt, when was the last time you've ever spent until midnight up? Let's call it one in the morning. It's going to be one because it's specific. That's right. When? When? When? It's probably been a while since 1 a.m. Junior prom. Not that long. Not that long.
I'm sure it's been lots more recent than that. You might have to drink a Mountain Dew tonight, dude. I'll buy you one. He's on the end gate of the wagon and he's about to fall off. Are we going to be here tonight? I don't know. You guys maybe. I don't know. I guess by the end of this podcast, we better make some kind of proclamation to the world. 6 a.m. We'll be here, Bronson. How about that? Should we do that? We were here earlier than that last year. Were we? Yeah. Yeah, because our phone kept buzzing at 2, 3, 4, and we're like, all right, we're done. People are hitting me with Outfitter info. And I hope they do. Yeah. Love to hear it. So let's call Nevada. At the end of the podcast. For those who don't know who's Jack. Jack Rubs, Deputy Director, Nevada, in Dow, Nevada Department of Wildlife. Super good dude. Let's give him a holler.
It's Jack. Hey. We're tired of waiting for draw results. When are they coming out?
Soon. Soon? You've got that diplomatic hat on right now. That bureaucratic hat. Take it off. Tell us the truth. Where are we at? The number of texts I get with that exact question is overwhelming. And that's my standard answer. Soon. I can tell you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, they're going to be out at midnight. Midnight Pacific time or mountain time? Because we want it to be mountain time. I know you want it to be mountain time. But it's going to be midnight Pacific time. We're going to hit that button and let it go. They're going to start trickling out, crushing inboxes. Well, there you heard it. It's going to crush. It's about a two-hour process from start to end. So, you know, there may be a little suspense to it. But we're going to advertise that, hey, it's out.
And instead of having people hit refresh a hundred times for eight hours, we're going to say, hey, this is when it's going to happen. All right. And, you know, the first year we did a midnight deal was the first year we went with Kalkamai. And it surprised everybody. You don't get an opportunity to surprise 70,000 people very often. But we pulled it off that year. But the main reason we did that was we knew it was going to take two hours to load inboxes. And I didn't want to have the first guy get his results and have 69,000 calls. Where's mine? My buddy got his. So now we're going to talk about that and tell people, hey, it's a two-hour process. Be patient. But at least give them a window when that two hours are going to be. Well, so can they go into their account and see the results at midnight Pacific time? Or is it just between midnight and 2 a.m. they should get an email?
Between midnight and 2 a.m. they should be getting an email. But about the same time they get their email, load into their account and hit their credit card. It's all kind of together. All the same time. It's all kind of together. It's an algorithm that takes a while to run. And it's not like everybody's results just flash on at 12 o'clock. It'll take some time to load in. But be patient. It'll get there. We're looking forward to it. Validation process has gone really well. Draw went really well. I don't know if you guys watched it all the past couple of years. We've YouTubed the draw out. What's there to watch, Jack? It's so exciting. I'm on the edge of my seat when I watch that. When you guys left the room last year, I was like, okay. That's over. I guess that's it. I mean, come on. No, I'm serious here. It went totally different this year. We had 350 people watching it at one time.
And through YouTube, they were able to ask questions. And we were doing live question and answer for 350 people about how the draw process works, the sequence, just questions top to bottom. And Zach from Calcamy, he answered them and just did a great job. And it was very informative. And we've got a lot of positive feedback on that. So maybe next year you guys will tune in and you can find some things I didn't know about our draw. No. I remember watching a computer. We're not going to learn anything new. Go ahead. The first year we watched the computer and we're like, wow, that's not what I was expecting I was going to see. Carter, where are we going to lunch? Pretty much that first impression was the last impression. And I was like, I'm not watching it again. I saw what happened. The computer didn't do anything. You guys walked out of the room. There was no smoke, mirrors.
There was nothing. I assumed it was done right and correct. I have no idea. Just looking at a computer running an algorithm.
We've been challenged on the transparency of that. And boy, I can tell you yesterday, our transparency was way up. Like I said, 350 people watching it. And just the deep, high-level questions down to the questions that you and I know off the top of our head, but they're being answered. And answered in real time, it was fantastic. And we're looking to expand that into the future also. Well, give Zach a raise.
I'm glad you said that because I'm going to send that to his bosses because I've been beating him up, Calcumite, for a long time. And that guy takes good care of us. And I said, hey, we need to take better care of Zach. Especially if we get some good positive draw results. We're going to give Zach some positive feedback. Yeah, so about tomorrow at about between midnight and 2 a.m., you'll get some more feedback. Good or bad? I don't know. We're going to wait and find out. We'll be getting a lot of feedback. There will be a lot of disappointment, a lot of excitement. But as we spoke about before, it's not just the tags you draw. It's the tags your family draws. It's the tags your friends draw. Nevada, hunting is a team sport because you're not going to draw a tag every year, and we know that.
But get out with your friends, and then when you do draw that tag, you know that your friends are there to support you, and you've got a great experience coming up. That's right. Well, Jack, do you want to go ahead and tell everybody what your cell phone number is so they can share their results with you? 2 a.m.? Yeah, not a problem.
All right, folks, you heard it here. My wife, if hotel rooms were open in Reno tonight, she would probably go get one because it's not going to be coming.
Well, we appreciate your time, and we look forward to it. You guys are out a little bit early, and nobody's ever going to complain about that. No, Midnight Madness in Nevada. We're going to push to keep getting them out in a timely manner. Like I said, we've got a great team, and Calcumite is a great partner, but our validation is going good. We're comfortable. Just a few more things to check, but we're ready to roll. What are you checking? Like felons getting tags? What do you – deadbeat dads? What do you got? No, it's more make sure the business rules applied right, make sure everybody's bonus points were applied right, that the number of tags in each unit was allocated properly.
Just a few things. Just a whole of those things. Yeah. Yeah. Perfect. We have three guys from Endow that they're data gurus and then a couple business rule experts, and we get on the Zoom meeting all day, and just – we have queries built, and they've run hundreds of queries looking for different things that may be an exception, and we're looking good. But we've got a few more to check, but we'll be ready by midnight. All right. All right, buddy. That's what we like to hear. All right. Thanks for taking our call. Well, we're hoping to give you some positive feedback. Okay? Hey, call anytime. Appreciate the help. Thanks, Jeff. Appreciate it. Okay. All right. Kind of a big deal. They're starting a new tradition. No longer the Friday going into Memorial Weekend. They're breaking the mold. They're breaking the mold. Yeah. It's going to be midnight madness in Endow for the rest of our lives.
People aren't going to go to work tomorrow. Well, especially guys like Wyatt. Especially on the East Coast. Well, if you don't drink caffeine and you stay up until midnight, you ain't going to work tomorrow. But if you're on the East Coast, just go to bed early and get up at three. I mean, it's just getting up a couple hours early. Not a big deal. I wish I was back there right now. You do? Yeah. I wish I was in Nevada. Just for one night. An hour earlier than you? Yeah. Pacific time. It's not the same.
Prove it. All right. Well, it's kind of exciting. It is exciting. We're going to find out if the antelope trifecta is in play tomorrow. Why do you have to talk about that? Well, you've self-proclaimed a few things here. No, I haven't. You proclaimed, and I had to agree by contractual. He did proclaim. What did he proclaim? It's a joke. It's a joke. A trophy antelope hunter. I think those are the words. The year of the antelope. The trifecta, something like that. It was a joke. It's no longer funny. The year of the two-point. All right. Anyway, Wyoming elk, Bronson, coming out. And Wyatt, Devin, coming out this Thursday. Be ready. This is super exciting. Unless they come out any time, and they're early. They were early by a couple, two, three days on their moose, sheep, goat, bison. But it is scheduled for the 21st, Thursday, 10 a.m. usually,
and they're usually not a minute early from what they tell you. Kind of fun, too. Big week. Utah. You should have results for Utah in your email if you for some reason don't. Already. They're not loaded on your online account yet as of last night. So there will be trickling in. But a lot of happy people we've been talking to in Utah the last couple of days. So making plans and all that. Booking hunts like it's their job. All right. Well, we do have some deadlines coming up. We've got Washington extended until the 21st. That'd be Thursday as well. Deadline there. I know Wyatt's looking forward to that. Montana Antelope. Wyatt, June 1st. Yep, been answering questions on that one this morning. Yeah, you have been. You did? Yeah. Wow. Like crazy. I thought I was done with those questions. No. So I guess. Is there like a 250 club or something?
Like you get three antelope and yeah, there's some hallmark. What would that be? Let's. I'm going to do some math. I don't know. Let's start one. Start one. 82 times. Free entry into a pair of optics. Yeah. 82 times three is 246. So if a 250 club. That's. That's a significant. That's an 80. That's 83 and two to three. I'm going to hit it this year. Average. 250. 250 club. Some other guy. Probably the next entry will be 300. Probably.
Oh, geez. What's 90 times three? 270. That's a legit. That's a legit bar. You hit that. You're a gov tag holder. Yeah. Gala would be in a 270, 280 club. Yeah. No question. All right. We got California due June 2nd. No Wyoming deer and antelope. Back to June 1. Idaho elk deer antelope June 5. Iowa June 7. Arizona sheep deer. And, of course, a point for bison at June 9th. And we got points only this summer. A lot coming up here in two weeks. I mean, a lot of states. Still. Still to play. Some of them aren't maybe the most.
What? Most exciting? Yeah. Revered. Revered. For some people. Comes to mind. They are. I mean, the Wyoming deer and antelope. Idaho deer, elk, and antelope. Great options if you haven't already applied in Idaho for sheep, moose, or goat. As well as, obviously, Arizona. If you at all applied for elk or antelope first off, you might as well apply now. It's not going to cost you very much more to do sheep and deer. That's right. What else is on the horizon? Well, the other thing we were thinking about is, Q, you made a huge announcement today. Yeah. I did. Announced and released the new pattern. It's going to be awesome, Bronson. We got a set actually sitting in on your office, and it looks good. Yeah. And great looking stuff for what I would call sage desert type. You know, a lot of the country we end up hunting, right?
I mean, they've had the Vias pattern, which is their, I guess, flagship initial one. And then the Verde, which is the green base pattern, which is very effective in, like, early season mountainous terrain. A lot more green tones than that, hence the name Verde. But this is pretty excited about it, and just released it today. And it's pretty awesome. Valo, I guess that's, or Valo. I don't know if that's the correct pronunciation. Shoot me if it's not. But pretty interesting. They're not, they don't rest too long at QU without thinking or taking input, modifying things, and this is a pretty good example of that. Yeah, they talk about it. They say it right here. It's lighter, low contrast pattern. Adds a new dimension to QU camo.
Should be awesome. Helps break up the human outline effectively, both long and short range distances. We've got to check it out. We're going to have to take it out. We actually just barely got this stuff like last week, right? Yesterday. Oh, yesterday? Saturday. Saturday. That's when I got home from camping trip. It could have been there before that. Yeah. Took the family camping. How about that? Trying to get father of the year award. Husband of the year award. You try to do those types of things when the bucks and bulls are all stubby. You mean they're non-essential. Nothing exciting in mid-June. Early June. You know? You know, that's one award that, Bronson, you and I both can say we have because nobody knows any different. And Wyatt and Devin and Chris don't have it. And that's father of the year award and husband of the year award. John has it. We know that. John puts us to shame.
These guys. Speaking of which, John. Okay. Well, anyway, do you guys have anything to say about that? Have you ever had father of the year award or husband of the year award? No, I have not. I can't say that. Yeah. It's tough to look forward to. It's pretty tough to get those awards in our position. And they're in a category. Self-proclaimed. Yes. And they're in a category of how hard is it to win the Bachelor of the Year award? I mean, you're in it with hundreds of millions of applicants. Yeah. Who's going to divvy out that award? Yeah. Good luck. Did you guys get that? Good luck being that. What award have you got? Can't say I've had that either.
Who are you guys? Who are you guys? Pretty sure that's enough. They're looking at each other like, I'm a dad. I'm trying to think of a self-proclaimed award I could give to myself. I'm a good boyfriend. I'm a good boyfriend. You are a homeowner almost. Almost. Yeah. How about that? That's an award. Devin Awesome. He's working on that award. The Husband of the Year award. He's working. If he didn't get Boyfriend of the Year award, I don't know who would. But he's working on that other title. He's building a nest. Huh? What's that? With leaves and twigs. Leaves, twigs, and mud.
Feathers. It's good. It's awesome. Well, Chris, he's... Chris, I forgot. You're a homeowner. You have been forever. Huh? Yeah. Trying to fill it. Do your best that you can do there. Fill it layer by layer. He doesn't have any problem filling it. Yeah, that's full. That's full. All kinds of family in there. That's awesome. Wyatt, where are you at? Who knows? Who knows? Who knows?
All right. All right. Well, John, let's see. You got husband and father of the year award at the lake. How'd that go? How'd that go, John? So, Wyatt, it's not your turn to get abused. It's mine. I don't know that I've heard this story. Oh, geez. You know you have those times in your life when you think, I'm an idiot. And those need to come out on the podcast, I guess. That's why you're here today, John. I have that in my notes. Some days are more rocky than others. Oh.
So, John and I go to Lake Powell. We're trying to separately. You're trying to maintain the father of the year awards. I've got an 18-year-old graduating from high school. I've got like a week and a half left. Before they're working for the summer. I'm kind of freaking out because it's the rest of, it's like, you know, he's gone forever. Yeah. Not necessarily, but it feels like it. But he could be. He might like New York. Yeah. He might like it. He's going to New York to work. Might become a Democrat. To work. Who knows? Work on Long Island or something, you know, and places we've never been. So. Yeah. So. And we've read a lot about the news. So. Oh. First of all, so we go to Lake Powell. Take the camp trailer and the boat and roll down there with all the kids. Going to have an amazing weekend. Yeah. And it's a dangerous lake. Let's be honest. Yeah. This place has got.
Fluctuating shorelines. Shorelines. Irregular shorelines. And. Rock formations in the middle. Hundreds of, hundreds of miles of shoreline. Yes. Yeah. All right. So. Setting the stage. We go to. It was just weird too. Because there's nobody there. You know. On a normal year. Except for the ramp. Coronavirus. It was stacked up. Yeah. But. But it's open. Yeah. They opened it up. And. But a fraction of. Yeah. A fraction of the normal people are there. And they tell you there's no officers. There's no staff. Yeah. Nothing. And the COVID has got everybody scared. You didn't have to pay to get in. Yeah. Because there weren't any perks. You can't even pay to get yourself. Yeah. You can't even put a Lake Pal sticker on your boat. There's nothing. It was great. So. And then. In the middle of the lake. There's a marina where you can get gas. Called dangling rope. Right. So you go there. It's empty.
Ghost town. So we're looking at the boards with the kids. Because. Usually you go. You get ice cream. You eat there. And it's a great time. But it was just weird. Ghost town. We're looking at the thing. And there's all these pictures. Of these boat accidents. What? Yeah. I've seen those. And it says. Don't leave your brain. Don't leave your brain at home. Oh. So we're cruising back. I forgot about those. Yeah. So that'll come up later. That's not me kids. That's not us. Yeah. There's a houseboat upside down. In one of the pictures. Come on. And I'm like. See. I don't want to be that guy. Yeah. That's why they make you have insurance. Yeah. I mean. You have to have insurance. Yeah. Do you have insurance on your boat? Oh yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. So. So we're going back. And the kids are like. Hey. Let's do one last. One last run at the wakeboard. So. We drop a kid in the water.
Pulling him on the wakeboards. I'm a hundred yards at least from shore. But the water's glass. It's beautiful. And all of a sudden. And you're going full bore with a skier. Full bore with a wakeboarder. Yeah. And I see rocks. I'm on top of them. I have time to barely. Throttle down. Throttle down. We hit. And we're stuck. On the rocks. Gravel bar. Yeah. Kind of luckily it wasn't solid rock. No. Yeah. I'm going to look at the glass half full here. Yeah. Slick rock would have launched you. Yes. And probably the boat's sitting there and we're all 50 yards past the boat. Yeah. Could have been bad. The gravel kind of slowly absorbs you versus an abrupt stop. Made me think that maybe somebody should have some seatbelts on their boat. You know what I mean? Like think about it. You could have been injected. Easily. Easily. But it must have been loud. I didn't hear anything.
I mean it happened so fast because we had boats coming over to see how we were immediately. And it was bad. And I mean anyway I thought I've got to have holes in the bottom of the hole. And we got out. And the boats. It was just perfect so the rocks were under the water. And you couldn't see them until you were right on top of them. And like I said 100 yards from shore just happened to be the lake was at the perfect level that all those rocks were covered. Yeah. It was perfectly calm. It's not like the water changed. Yeah. Usually you know the water's moving a little bit. You can tell there's something underneath or you know. And anyway it just it sucked. So. And you got kids screaming at you. He says faster dad. Faster. Hammer down. Oh the kid. The music's blaring. The kid on the. Playing with your phone. Going to the next song. Bluetooth. Kid I was pulling.
You got Jim speaking French in the other ear. Oh Jesus. You know. So when you came to a stop did he all of a sudden just pass you by? Yeah. No. He heard. He's like I heard a big crash and I just let go. You know. I let go and sat on a rock. Oh yeah. He looked like a mermaid sitting there. Oh. But anyway at the end of the day you were able to drive it back. Yeah. We. I told the kids. I mean I was kind of freaking out. You're stopped. Like you're not even. You can't. No. We tried to push the boat. It's stuck on land. You know. It's out of the water pretty much. And. And so I just. We could rock it back and forth. And I told them to dig out. Guys came over. We dug out enough rocks that it was almost floating. Kind of. Yeah. Kind of. And then we had somebody pull from the front. And we all pushed and it came off. But man the prop is just hamburger. They make new props every day. Oh yeah.
Anyway. The bottom. The bottom is fine. Hopefully it's fine. It'll be fine. I was shocked at how much abuse that thing could take. It's got some scratches. Well I told Jenna. I'm not worried anymore. Yeah. Like it's. It takes a significant something to get a hole in that thing. Yeah. I mean I really expected to have a hole in the bottom. I mean you could probably drag it across bare dry pavement. Probably could. It'd be fine. For a half mile. Let that thing fall off your trailer. It's good to know. Let that thing fall off the end of your trailer driving down the highway. It can handle it. Yeah. That's what you're saying. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever. Whatever. I'm feeling good about being. You need to drag it. That's why. I'm feeling good just about being alive. And on the way back my kids are like. Hey dad. Did you leave your brain at home? Oh. Come on. Oh jeez. Nope. I sure didn't.
You're going to be dinged for part of this son. They were up front watching probably or should have been. I'm going to kill you. Instead they're looking for chicks. Yeah. I had two kids in the front watching and watching before it. They saw it when I did. Just. Wow. Around the last minute. Well sorry. There's a new landmark at Lake Powell called John's Bar. Yeah. The gravel bar. It's horrible. John's Bar. Well and that's. Maybe why. I'll have a drink of caffeine at John's Bar. Huh?
I don't know. 2020 has been a bad year for me. That's. That's not even the dumbest thing I did. Don't. What? Come on. You got. You talking the four wheeler? You got the four wheeler in Mexico. Oh the black eye. That was just to start it out. The black eye. Yeah. The black eye. We were like the first day of 2020. Yeah. We. It was. End of January. If you make it through this year alive I'll be shocked. I will too. Life insurance policy. Make sure it is paid. Idiot. I'll pay. Oh I'm going to play. What else John? I mean. I don't want to pry but I can't remember. I mean. Here's the other one. But I can't remember. I haven't told you guys because it's so stupid. I can't wait. You ever think. You heard it here first folks. Go ahead John. I don't know why I'm even telling you. Confessions of. Chris are you sure you're recording this? Yeah. This ain't going to come out. Twice the same.
Trying to figure out. What is. Is this involved? No. No. This is going to implicate this. You ever think. This is the dumbest thing I've ever done in my life. And it was last week. No. No. Before the boat. Before the boat. All right. So I got a trailer last year. Camp trailer. Off season. Camp trailer. First one with a toilet. Right. What do you mean first one? First one I've owned with a toilet. Oh okay. So you're in your front yard. And the. And the black water's open and you decide to test it. No. So. So the dude that I bought it from. It was low season. I got an amazing deal. Because it was dead winter. You know. And he's like. It's all winterized. You know. Ready to go. It's awesome. You know. No problems whatsoever. This thing. You asked me. You said. Was there anything I need to do? I'm like. No. Yeah. Just make sure your valves are closed and fill it up in there.
Pump's going to go forever to fill up the hot water heater. Yep. It should have been fine and happy. Should have been fine. Well. I like to. You know. See how everything works.
So. I crawl under there. I'm like. It's been winterized. The thing's empty. Come on. You open it up. Don't just. Just let it. I am sitting under the black water valve. And I'm like. Come on. Okay. This one would pull this. I open it. No. Bull. Bull. Bleep it. All over me. I'm telling you. Come on. John. How did you not know this? It was horrible. I'm like. I wonder what this does. That is a COVID environment. John. It's been sitting there for who knows how long. Wow. And it's not. And it's not even yours. No. And it was the grossest thing ever. It's the other dudes. And their family. And their family. And their family. Full on. In my chest. In my lap. What? Yeah. And anyway. I keep the trailer. Okay. Was your phone right there? I have to tell my wife. Drive me down some clothes. I got. I got to get some clothes. The smell was horrible. And it's night. Like. John. Dark.
I have to go get the hose. And hose off in the parking lot. I'm freezing my butt off. But it stunk so bad. Oh. I could. It was horrible. John. It was the worst thing ever. And then I think. Why? John. Why did I fall? On the podcast. On the podcast. Really? John. You have had. Wow. That was probably the worst week of your life. That is so dumb. And then a beached boat. Don't drive a four-wheeler. He's under there. No more. And he's got to be gasping. So he's got his mouth open. He's got the. Oh no.
So I'm pacing back and forth. Just soaking wet. Sorry John. Didn't leave all the crap on me. Waiting for my wife to get back with clothes and a change in the parking lot. Oh my gosh. John. And you held that in for a week before you divulged. I didn't even want to tell the story. It's so stupid. I did 100 low lead after that. Oh. Jeez. That sucks. You don't just walk in here like nothing happened. Just like your shiner. Oh. He comes in. Looks like he's been in a bar fight. Doesn't say a word to any of us. John comes up from Mexico. And for sure he looked like he'd been in UFC 252. Idiot. Wow. Holy cow. Bad year. Bad year for me. Wow. Well. It'll get better. I promise. How can it get worse? It can't get worse. How can it get worse? You beach the boat on John's bar. And you end up with somebody else's feces all over you. So bad. By the gallon. Come on.
I'm pretty sure all you listeners out there, the next time you're under your trailer, you're going to think about this podcast. Don't pull the lever. Don't pull the lever. Don't. Did you tell your kids? Yes. No shit. Yeah. And then, you know. So no wonder the brains. Don't leave your brain at home, Dad. I'm like, shut up. We're going to keep the quarantine going forever. Wow. Well. John, that was a rough week. I am. You're holding it together very well because you held that in. And I didn't draw Utah elk, which I thought I was going to. You had a two or three point buffer for your elk tags. Talk about point creep. Yeah. You've had a shizzy week, John. Yeah. Literally. A rocky week. A rocky shizzy week.
John, all right. I can't top that. I can't. We're done. We're done. I guess. Let's call a Nevada resident. Good friend of ours, Adam Kearney. Huh? Let's see if he's ready for some draw results. He's not even out of bed. I don't think so either. And it's what is it here? Pacific time. I mean, Pacific time. Well, I guess it is 847. He's been up for 15 minutes. No, he's not. He's not.
Your secret's safe with us, John. Yeah.
Yo. What are you doing? Just sitting at Ford. What are you doing? What? You're awake. You're acting like you're awake. When really this phone call woke you up. That's the Bronson. You know what's funny? Jason acts like I sleep in all the time. And I'm getting up at 530. And he's cranking me at 330 in the morning. Asking me if I'm up yet. Sometimes I do. I'm going to admit that. If I miss his call at 8 a.m. Vegas time. He's telling me to wake up. Yesterday morning. I said, hey, when you get up. Go ahead and give me a ring. I'll sell you those optics. I did. When you wake up. This is at 10 a.m. It's like 8 or 9. What are you doing down there? Is that in that ghost town? Oh, man. I'm not wearing a mask. Well, you're going to go to jail. You're down there in Vegas. Yep. Yeah. If you're not wearing a mask, you're a minority here. For sure. Wow. How is COVID treating Vegas? Pretty rough?
You know what? It could be worse. We're still making a little bit of money. You know, but our city is pretty sad. Yeah. Pretty slow. So. Well. But we're cranking still. Still have enough money to put some gas in the truck. Hit the roads. Well, we're going to give all you a surprise in Vegas. A reason to stay up till midnight tonight. Hey. Your draw results, man, at midnight. Draw results at midnight. You think you'll be up? Guaranteed I stay up. All right. It's part in Vegas. Yes. You ain't even going to work at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
So, we just had to call a Vegas person and let them know a reason to stay up till midnight. Because that hasn't been going on a lot lately down there. You know, last year, it came out at midnight. And Polish and all of them were texting me all night. And, you know, so I woke up. And it was pretty fun. But being up two in the morning, messing around, seeing who drew what, you know. Yeah. Well, it's going to happen. So, we need something to look forward to. I don't think there's any reason for you to stay awake. Is it okay if I tell you guys that I'm drawing PIW sheep this year? You're calling your shot. Oh, wow. Yeah, you can say that. I mean, if it really happens, am I going to get investigated? Well, yeah. Count for me? We know some people. You definitely have some stress in your life. It involves your right arm to the square and a few things like that. Some swearing. Some swearing.
Hey, have you been test driving that new trimmer? What are you doing? I like it. I like it. You know what? It'd just be a pavement princess for me. So, I'm not sure if I could utilize it like Carter could. What's a trimmer? Is that like your edger for your lawn? No, no, no. It's a trimmer. A trimmer. Oh. It's a new Ford model. It's like, what, a Wazoo Diesel getting 20 plus miles a gallon? Wazoo crazy tricked out Ford, right? Yep. Yep. Crazy suspension, 35-inch wheels. Just nuts. Wow. You still got a Raptor? Do you send that down the road? No, I still have the Raptor. I got 51,000 miles on it now. Pavement. All paved. Pavement. All pavement. So, you guys won't believe it, but Kearney found a pair of sheds. And I don't know if he found them on his own or not, or if he went and bought them, but he found them. Kearney. Deer. Deer. Deer. What did you find, Kearney?
I haven't seen it on the gram. So, what did you find? Just dumb luck, man. Just hike, going to go put a camera up and thought I was going to have a little fun. And I looked down and see an antler, and it was brown. And I looked over in the bush, and there was another one. So, both of them matching sets. And I have some buddies that have been hitting those hills pretty hard, and all they came up with was chalk. So, I was pretty pumped up. Yeah. That's awesome. Buck with potential? 20-20 potential, you think, or not? Too young. Yeah. Me and Jason have them on camera, actually. Yeah. Come on. That's a good deer. That was a good deer. Yeah. Yeah. Those are my sheds. Probably.
Those are my sheds. 190 shed. Something. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree on that one. Those are mine. Those are mine. Who's paying shipping?
No joke. I've never been shed honey in my whole life. I think I found one Elkhorn one time, and I've never found sheds. I think that was in somebody's garden. Yeah. No doubt. No doubt. I think it fell in the guy's truck in front of me.
Hey. You take him. I think it did, because it was laying on the road, and he had a pile of them on his quad. I think that's how I found it.
Close it. What are you top-heavy on on points? I mean, you've never drawn a sheep tag. You've got like 20-something on sheep, bulk sheep? Yeah. I have like 27, 28 on all sheep species in Nevada. Yeah. I have 17 elk points and mountain goat, 20-something. So sheep and goat. You're due. Yeah, I'm due, man. You're due. Yeah, I've been putting in for 28 years in Nevada for sheep and haven't drawn yet. Yeah. Well, you're due. Maybe. Yep. Maybe you've got a vibe. D-I-W or Silver State, maybe? Do? Jeez.
Hey, Bronson. This guy's a lucky guy. You drank your optimistic coffee blend this morning. I will give you that. I did. Hey, the big question is that when I draw that tag, are you guys hunting me? No.
Hell no. This is the part of the podcast where Chris will insert the crickets chirping.
Bleep and crickets. Bleep and crickets. Oh, we're giving you a hard time, Kearn. If you weren't so hard to give a hard time to, we wouldn't do it because you take it well. So we just had to... Hey, you know what? I only have one friend in Vegas that has a net non-typical. So I think I'm pretty cool when I walk around here thanks to Epic and Carter in Bronson outfit. You guys hooked me up. You've got a net booner. I do. Yeah. I do walk into rooms and mine is bigger. Oh, come on. Hey, put that in your wheel for me. Tell Aspen. That one's mine. She can have the sheds. She can have the sheds. Yeah. Okay. So how's the moisture down there? Has it just been off the charts? Seems like it's been dry and a little bit of a dry spell. It got hot. Quick. You know what, you guys? It hasn't been ultra hot. We had a few weeks of it kind of being hot. It's kind of nice today.
But every hill I go to, you know, I live in Vegas, obviously, but all the mountains around the house have green grass everywhere. It's unbelievable. Bring it. So I'm not sure how much more moisture we need. Obviously, we need some more, but we had great last year, good this year, and two years in a row in the desert. Yeah. Well, this time of year, everything turns to a burnt to a crisp about any two weeks from now, three maybe. So you don't have a green June and July. You don't. It doesn't happen. It's not. That's what 110 to 20 does for it. Temperature. It seems dry to me. I took a trip down there to my in-laws, and what were you doing? Just stuff.
And it's the cheatgrass. He was doing down there for the pigtail rounds, Kearney. Oh, come on. The hyenas. Come on. Yeah, I went and visited the hyenas. We need to get them on a podcast. Oh, I don't know. I don't know if we have enough. Chris would pay him overtime, time and a half, for a week to edit that podcast. It might take a whole week to edit. So 14 channels of data coming in. It'd be brutal. I can't remember what Adam Sandler movie it is, but the guy with the one weird eye, when he looks at you, that's Jared. You know? I'm on the pigtail rounds. There is? Well, isn't there? What's that Disney show with the hyenas, and there's one of them that has crazy eyes? Oh, yeah. What is that? Is that Lion King? Lion King. Is it just Lion King, and one of them has cross eyes? Yeah. Okay. That's the little fella right there. Oh, jeez. Well, Kearney.
Anybody that wants to make their deer look big, just let Jared get behind it. Oh, my gosh. Jeez. He is 135 pounds soaking wet. But Kearney's funny, because he knows my in-laws, and I mean they give each other a lot of grief. Kearney's a self-proclaimed wazoo wrestler. Well, the old wrestlers, the good back in your day, they never die. They never die. They never die. I mean, this was 30 years ago, Kearney. Weren't you a wrestler? No. I wrestled a bit, but I was never any good. I would love to see Wyatt and Kearney wrestle. The best part is they lived out in Moapa, and when I brought up the pigtail rounds, because I said, you guys never even got to make it. You had to wrestle just to get into the tournament we were in. And no joke, we were on the side of a hill. I thought these dudes were going to throw down on me.
Oh, they looked at him, and Jared got that weird eye, and I mean, it was going down. Jared said, I ain't never lost no Vegas, boy. Oh, there you go. That's right. Basketball guys just kind of hang it up. They know when their knees and ankles are about to blow, and they just tap out. Wrestlers never tap out. The first three days of the hunt, these guys were awesome, you know, super respectful. And as soon as Carter started teeing off on me, they just jumped right in. You can always count on the Wolfleys. They have got your back. Well, and just hence the name, the hyenas. They're there to jump. Gang tackle. 100%. Yeah. Gnaw the crap out of you. Get like 20 hyenas trying to kill one lion. You've watched it on YouTube. Google it. Anyway. Pretty impressive. It's a bloodbath. Kearney's usually right in the middle of it. Well, all right.
We better not keep you from making a dollar today, so we'll let you go. But appreciate it, man. And you're welcome to text Carter any hour of the night, but my phone will be off. Right. Sounds good. Wyatt and Devin will be manning the phones here in the office. Wyatt's planning on drinking a Mountain Dew or something. Sounds good. All right. Good luck, boss. All right. P-I-W or bust. He's a lucky sucker, too. All right. Talk to you later. He's due. He's going to draw a sheet tag. I don't know. Well, his uncle did last year because of the little coaching on Appland. Ryan, we took him. It's awesome. I hope not. If we... If he does, though, and we would end up taking him. There's going to be podcasts every night in the camp trailer. It will be... You remember that time we went to dinner at the M down there with him? Oh, my God. I don't... My face hurt. We laughed.
After the first two minutes. Yeah. Anyway. We were there for two, three hours, and we just kept waiting to get the back of our collars pulled and escorted out of the place. I know. Remember how loud we were? And we're not even... We don't even drink. We weren't even that loud because of that. We're just... Just yacking. Just yacking. But he's a funny dude, and we took him hunting out there in Nevada. He did kill a net book non-typical. I mean, that sucker grossed 241 and netted over 230. Anyway, it was pretty amazing. We'll have to get him on for that story. Kearney's a funny dude. Fun to give a hard time to. All right, guys. Where are we at? Anything else noteworthy, praiseworthy, or of good report?
Well, we do have a membership drive going on. We also sell some optics. What else do we want? We need to do a plug for our service. John? Well, you mentioned trail cameras, and we've got some great deals right now. Call in, and if you need some trail cameras, we can hook you up. Or outfitters, if you need an outfitter. Y'all Wyoming? One of these? Basically, if somebody wants to spend money in the hunting industry, they should call us, right? Is that what we're saying? Or if you want to go hunting. I mean, just want to go hunting. There's a lot of opportunities out there. We realize this COVID era is... There's a lot of things that are probably off the table right now. Possibly Canada. Who knows on Canada? Who knows on Alaska long-term, either this fall? We're praying some of those things happen. Shake loose a little bit. Lower 48. I guess we're still hoping for things like that.
But hunters are pretty optimistic. I mean, it's our favorite hobby, right? We don't want to think of a fall without hunting. So we're still planning as if we are going to hunt nonstop. Positive thinking. Positive thinking. Did have a guy buy a set of optics yesterday. He says, well, doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make my hunting trip. And so I've got a little extra cash. And I've always wanted this. So here we go. And, of course, he price checks. People do that when you're going to spend good money. Some of these optics really should come with a title. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. And rebuilt titles and all of those things. Yes, insurance. Title. All of that. But anyway. Registration. They're worth it. I'm not saying they're not. We're a sucker for all the good wazoo stuff, too.
But, yeah, on the gear trend, whether it's optics, whether it's trail cameras, whether it's, hey, you drew a great tag and you need to get a new, you know, digiscoping setup. It doesn't matter. You know, we've got people like Phonescope have been great supporters of us here. Check out their website, phonescope.com. It doesn't matter your phone setup. It doesn't matter your spotter setup. They'll have something to fit what you got. And the old saying, get it on video. It didn't happen. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Yep, yep, yep. That's valid and true. But awesome. Awesome piece of equipment. It's getting to be that time. Give it 30 days and the elk, they're growing, you know, before your eyes. It's amazing. So within 30 days, there's a whole lot to start looking at. Even the deer by the end of June, early July, will start to look like a buck worth looking at. So make sure you have your optics.
Most of the lake of elk and deer are not the underside of a camp trader. John, did you go and empty out the blackwater again? I did. In the proper form? I did. Hooked up to KOA campground flushing system. But that SOB that I bought that thing from. Wow. Toilet's leaking because it froze. I'd put a one star on his review. Yeah. You know? Was it from a dealer? No. Was it from a dealer? Was it on eBay? Crush is eBay. KSL. Yeah. Well, there's nothing on there. Anyway. But I got a screaming deal, so, like, it's... It's worth it. Get a little shiz on you and watch it. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely worth it. It's worth it. It's worth it. Memories, podcast content. Put a few coins in your pocket. Do it again if I had to. No, I wouldn't do it again. It was so bad. If you wonder, is that bad? It's worse than you could ever imagine. I'm not even wondering. Never heard of such a thing. All I can...
Never mind. I'm not going to go there. Well, it's kind of like if you were sitting on, like, a Port-A-John and somebody were to tip it over. Tip it over. When you're in high school. Yes. Yeah. Or I think of those veterinarians, Chris. You've been around the cows, horses a lot. Mm-hmm. Those ones that are... Break-checking. Break-checking cows and stuff goes wrong. They get a face full. That's cow feces. It doesn't even... It's like grass, you know? On that note, we'd also like to thank M.O.A. Rifles, their sponsorship here at Epic Outdoors, making great rifles. Bronson's got one. We went up and shot it 1240-something yards. It was awesome. 20-mile-an-hour winds. Pretty impressive. They've got the new Ascent rifle. It's under 6 pounds. 6.5 PRC. Comes in 28 nozzle or 300 PRC. Awesome rifles. MOARifles.com. 541-526-1820. 541-526-1820. Tell them you heard it here.
You might get something special out of it. Super excited. Midnight Madness. Midnight Madness Tuesday. We're going to find out some drive results here tonight. 1 o'clock Mountain Standard Time, which is the only time that we really care about. That's right. Hope you all draw. If you do, we want to know about it. We want to help you. We want to hear about it. We said we were going to make a proclamation about what we would be here to help them with, but we haven't been as bold as to say. Say it. No, I don't want to say it. I don't want to say that we'll be here at 1 in the morning. No. Why at Webby? I thought that's what you want me to say. I was thinking like the member draw. Oh, yeah. Outfitters. Those are all great things, but when are we going to be able to take your call? 6 a.m. Mountain Standard Time. 6 a.m. We'll call that. That's good enough. 6 a.m. Mountain Standard Time.
We will be here. Take your member experience request. If you're going to do something self-guided, if you need an outfitter, we'll be here too. Somebody calls us at 543. Let's give them a trail camera. Mountain Standard Time. What? 543. Okay. Whoever calls at 543. The first call at 543 Mountain Mountain Standard Time. With a draw tag. Jason will take your call. With a draw tag. I'll take your call. From Nevada. Send you a trail camera tomorrow. A legit, a legit Nevada. You drew a tag. All right. That's right. Give you a G45 and G Max. You're going to have to ask about it, so that way we knew you listened to the podcast. A random caller at 543. That means they're going to have to stay up for the results and then get up to call you. Well, you're going to ruin a whole night, which if you're over 45, you ruin a whole week because you're trying to catch up. Set some alarms.
And you're doing that for a $120 trail camera. But if that's worth it to you, call Jason at 543 in the morning. 543. We'll be here. 435.
263. Oh, I was going to give your cell. I didn't. Okay. No. Okay. No, no, no. 263. 435. 263. 0777. Getting lucky. Pun right there. Vegas. Pun. 777. Getting lucky. Oh, come on. No. Lucky 7. Come on. That's true. I agree. I'm with you. Isn't that why we picked the number? Follow on your train of thought. Isn't that why we picked our number? Apply, apply, apply. Triple 7. You think tracking outdoors got a tag? Oh, well. Let's call him at 1201 just to make sure tonight. You hit him on your own text. Him and Angie until somebody answers. So for those listeners who don't know, tell them what we can do for them if they do draw. If you do draw, we do have a list of members who've, hunted your units in the past most likely. Call in. We'll put you on that list. We'll get an email list out to you of members who are willing to visit with you.
And of course, you're signing up to visit with people down the road. So it's an awesome little system we got going here at Epic Outdoors. Good dudes. Super good hunters. There's generally a wealth of information coming at you that way. We also have outfitters. Work with them daily. Yeah. That's right. That's great. Best outfitters out there. We can help you any unit, any season, any species. Give us a holler. We want to hear about it. Even if you just want to brag, call in, rub it in our face. We love people that draw tags. And if it's Nevada, but you haven't called us on your Utah yet and you've been meaning to, call us. I guess we'll be here at 6 a.m. Mountain Time. Well, we'll be here at least 542 Mountain Time for the call on 543. That's right. And we're not going to answer it if it's before that. So don't try to be. That's on our cell phone. So everybody's got the same time, right?
Doesn't the cell phones work that way? Yeah. I mean, within the second. Like, everybody's talking. That's not true. Whoa. Okay, open up your phone. I don't have it. John, open up your phone. No, I'm saying I switched mine because I switched mine. Where it wasn't automatic. I did it manually because I was close to the state. Okay, this is a guy. Manually from what? I woke up two hours early one time waking a hunter up to say, hey, let's go. We're late. Oh, because of time zone? My phone switched automatically. Okay, and I get that. Mine does too, and I've got it set for Mountain Standard Time. No matter if I go to Hawaii. When we go to hunt, I always stayed on Salt Lake Mountain Time. It never changes because we're close to Arizona line, close to Nevada. Your phone should say 1009. Does it? That's what we're saying. I don't have it. That's what we're saying. Bronson? Yeah.
Okay, so there we go. I think we're basing it off of towers, and everywhere is dealing with towers, right? Trump time. When we were kids, remember you wore digital watches, and it was like you'd always try to set it with a bell at school so you knew exactly. Yeah. And then you found out you're – And then the clocks get slower or faster. Yes, they wouldn't stay for a week or two. Yeah. I'd be like, I don't know. So, I don't know. What are you based off of? How do you know what time is real? Like, how do you – anyway. Who's the master? Trump now sets that. I know. Trump takes care of everything. He takes care of corona. He takes care of my guns. He takes care of my hunting. He is my everything. All right, folks. Good luck in the draw.
