EP 353: Nevada Draw Results and Building the Perfect Hunting Rifle

Hey everybody, Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, John Peterson, of course we got Joshua Pollock, better known as J.F.P., and Logie Bear. Logie Bear, how are you? I'm good. We got to dive into Logan's personal life here. Logan, are you paying these girls to go out with you, or where are we at on things? I'm not quite to paying yet, but bribery is encouraged. It's not cash. If you're going to do that, hey. I always thought dinner was enough, but if dinner's not enough, you got to get more gain. You can do dinner. You just got to say you're going to Rusty's or Outlook. It's got to be intriguing. They're not going to do Applebee's? Hold up your hands, Logan. He's still rehabbing the last one. We got a month to go. And then when the girls ask you, what happened there? Well, that was 14 days ago. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So you mean there's others? It is tough, yeah.

I'm not the only one you want to take out? No. You're one of many. Special? So between his finger and now being a week out, he's starting to look like a snake shedding skin. Okay. He was in the sun for 15 minutes. Yeah, he went to California, took his shirt off. Why did you take your shirt off? What were you doing down there? At the beach, right? We were at the beach. We were playing Frisbee. Yeah. If it helps, I also dumped my dirt bike on me. Are California girls built different, bro? They are built different, bro. You ran over yourself with a motorcycle. You breezed over that. What happened? Yeah. Well, we were getting the motorcycle out of the bed of my truck, and it dumped on me, and I fell out of the back of my truck. We knew this was going to happen. Those cleat spikes drug all the way down my leg. It looks like I got attacked by a mountain lion. Did you lose flesh?

We don't need to see it. Oh, yeah. Oh, it's bad. Bronson, go ahead and verify it. He lost some flesh. Okay. Between the sunburn and that, how much has your aloe vera bill been this week? Oh, three bottles at least. Oh, okay. He put in a special order at Walmart. I did. Did you? Holy cow. So we knew this bike. So when you first bought this bike, you loaded it yourself, and you were like, dude, I'm proud of myself. And I'm like, it's janky to do that. It's terrible. A lot of guys like, guys that really know how to ride, let's say we know other people in Minersville, Dusty and them, they ride them in. They can do it easy. They ride them in. Easy. I haven't had a dirt bike since I was in seventh grade, so I'm learning fresh. So you're doing it like we would do it. Yeah. Half clutching it up, half clutching. Got a stool halfway between so I can step up and then onto my bed.

So paint this picture, then how did this catastrophe happen? Well, I was actually trying to avoid the catastrophe. My roommate was there, so I had him come out and help me. Spot. Let's call him a spotter. Well, when you got a small enough bike like mine, you can just put it in neutral and back it out and they grab the top of the back wheel and just set it on the ground and then you just dump the front out. Sure. 50s don't weigh much. Yeah. Is it a 50 or a 70? It's a 125, guys. 85. Is it? No, it's a 250. Yeah, 250. Come on. Oh, my gosh. Okay. Sorry. And my roommate, he hadn't done this before, so he grabs it and he just starts backing it out. And I'm on the handlebars backing out and I get to the edge and I say, okay, stop. Like, I'm going to step down and we'll finish it. Doesn't hear me. Doesn't stop. Pulls it out of the truck.

Pulls it and me out of the truck and I dump off the truck backwards and my right thigh lands right on that foot pedal, right on those cleats. I think it's more like your buttock is what you were pointing to. Yeah, it is. It's like, it's all the way down. I didn't want to say that on the podcast. It's a mess. Yeah. So between your finger and your buttock, you got problems. And my sunburn. Yeah. And your sunburn. I've had a healthy sunburn. He comes over to get a drink out of the fridge. It looks like there's a bit of snake in there. There's skin laying in there. Skin. Yeah. Blood drip. Snake skin. You got a hind quarter. Ruined hind quarter. Oh, yeah. John's been giving me his nursing tips. Really? Well, he's got some. Yeah, drug tips. John's wife's a nurse. Drug? Drugs. It took drugs? Really? Not just out of there? Are you giving drugs? Oh, for the sunburn. I've been maxed out on town.

What kind of drugs work on a sunburn? Well, it's not just the sunburn. Logan got a specific thing we hadn't heard about. What? Yeah, it's like hell's itch or something like that. Yeah. What? It's called hell. Only the graphics department can come up with this. I Googled it. You mean, I've heard of swimmer's itch. What's hell's itch? Come on, guys. When you get sunburn, your skin has an allergic reaction or something, and it's like the worst itch imaginable. Not everybody gets it. Yeah, they said it's extremely rare. Gluten-free guys get this. I think it's normal. Are you gluten-free? I'm full gluten. It always itches if you get a sunburn and you peel. Oh, this was bad. I'll read you guys what it is. Hell's itch or devil's itch is a severe, painful, and intensely itchy reaction to sunburn that can be mistaken for a typical sunburn.

It's characterized by intense pain, itching, and tingling, prickling sensation. And in some cases, even suicidal ideation. Whoa. While not a common typical sunburn, it's important to recognize the differences and seek appropriate relief. Oh, my gosh. There's something for everything. Okay, wait. So tell them how bad it was. I feel like we're the old guys that were like. And there's a picture of Logan. Can you picture. That is me. Oh, my gosh. Can you picture a rancher just saying, get back to work, son. Shut up. That's a sunburn. Oh, man. I just feel like Adam and I, you and I are in that spot of. I don't know. You're making up stuff just to make it sound all. Was it this Gen Z or whatever? What are you guys? I'm a Gen Z. I'm a tough it out guy. I don't do a lot of needing. We've got to come up with nicknames of what kind of sunburn he got.

And then John's got special drugs, and now we've got emergency room visits and an Instacare visit and 14 layers of doctors and thoughts and ideas and plans. It all goes back to the simple principle, keep your shirt on, Logan. It's true. I will from now on. Logan, keep your clothes on. It may never come off again. A little advice from Grandpa Jason and Grandpa Adam. That's right. Keep your clothes on. Thanks, old fellers. Exactly right. So whatever. I'd be glad you did. Moving along. Now, Josh, let's dive in. Josh, what do you think about diving into John's projects? I just don't get it. I don't get it. I thought you were kind of the triple tang productions. Now we've got John coming up with triple J productions. What's the triple J? It has nothing. Jason's making it up. I mean, dude, we're protecting the chickens, trapping foxes. Now we're protecting foxes, feeding them the chickens.

This is true. Killing chickens to feed foxes. Are you killing the chickens or are you letting them have the glory? No, but I might have a rooster or two we just let out, you know? So this is like you're teaching them to kill. So let's bring everybody up to speed. John had a fox problem, live trapped him. We talked about the skunk, put an end to that temporarily. Did we talk about the skunk? We did. We didn't talk about the skunk story, but you mentioned that I had problems with the skunk, and yeah, that's what happened. Okay, so that skunk in the live trunk. Trapping halted, which may have been meant to be, now that we know about it, so that he did not catch a fourth fox. If you would have caught the mama fox, knowing what you know now with those four pretty- And they would have died in the lockbox. They would have just died. I wouldn't have known about it. You wouldn't have known.

No, they would stink. You would have heard them. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mom, mom. So it turns out- I need milk. I need milk. Who found them? You or your wife? Oh, my wife. They called me during the day once, and they're like, uh, there's four babies on the- Not only do we have a fox problem, now we have a whole den. Yeah. In the rock pile you put there, 30 feet from the house. Yes. How did you guys not know that there was a den 30 feet from the house when you've been trapping in and around this rock pile? I don't know. And we were letting the chickens roam free right next to the den. Go, chicklets. That's animal cruelty. I know. I didn't know. I didn't know. Like, I just- I've heard of guys- This is how- I've heard of guys got in trouble for this. You know, some photographers and stuff. They would kind of, like, set up- Plant it? They would plant up prey to get caught.

It's like all the mountain lion pictures you see. Yes. It's like, that's a tame cat. You know what I mean? They're not authentic. But these gray fox pictures John got, not only have they expanded the geographical distribution map for Southern Utah based on what John was told, that there were no gray foxes in his area. But now, John, you're about to double digits, right? Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, once babies- Marty Stauffer nearly resurrected to come see these. That's how good they are. So do you think it's possible that your mother-in-law or Jen are sitting on the back porch waiting for the foxes to emerge again? Oh, all day. Yeah. Is this what's going on at your house? They're watching them all day now. I'll bet you- They are safe. They brought the babies out. There's four babies. The mama's safe now. Yeah, exactly. John, I make the call.

By the end of Memorial weekend, they're on your back deck and you're playing with them. They're playing with them. Eating tuna fish. No, I've already threatened them not to feed them. John's buying- What was that rotisserie chicken? The whole chicken you were buying? I was doing that for the bait. That was for bait. For bait. Well, we were trying to lure- Nothing but the best for the best. Well, anyway- What was that, Bronson? He was trying to lure a feline of some kind, I believe, at that time. So, we needed a bigger piece of bait. Well, anyway, all right. You guys have expanded your farm. It's pretty impressive. So, what do you- Well, I don't know on the text when you said somewhat in and around about fashion, you said screw the chickens. Well, no- What did you mean by that? I just meant I'm not going to let the chickens out for live bait right in front of the den. Oh. You know, so-

When you said, like, kind of screw the chickens, like, what do you mean- I was just joking. Like, you mean you're not going to let them out and about- No, I'm not going to let them out and about to be hunted. And have a nice life. You're actually going to keep them killed. I thought we interpreted that. You're done with the chickens. Now, they are fox food. Now, they're fox- No. That's literally what I thought. Not yet. I've got another batch. The old chickens, I'm about ready to turn them over because the old ones aren't producing anymore. I turned a dozen of them over and I could have easily helped you. Hey, John. Yeah. Film the oldies turn loose. We want to see that. I may or may not have done that. When those kits- I mean, it's funny when you let them out, they're like- I mean, it's wild. I want to see a takedown from an eight, what, a 16-ounce kit. Yeah.

They can't be more than a pound. No. One of them's carrying a squirrel around in its mouth. The kit? Yeah. Right? The baby? And Jen's like, ah, they think they're killing squirrels. I'm like, no way. They're so little. No, the mom had to bring that. The mom had to bring it to them, yeah. But they're playing with it. Well, that's just part of the- Yeah. Part of learning. Yeah. Remember Big Dan and Little Ann? That could help with mice and squirrel problems. Yeah. Yeah. Nobody even remembered that. Jason might. Maybe you set up a- Where the red fern grow. Where the red fern grow. Totally remember. You know, they dragged that skin all over. Actually, a little tear. Well, what about, John, what about- I don't know where we're going. I guess, do you need to set up some stealth cams and do the on-demand photos once in a while? Yeah. Jen was like, hey, you know, I watch-

She watches some eagle nest or something on, you know- She does? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Live cam or whatever. They have peregrine falcons and bald eagles. Is this the motherly in Seat Watch or whatever? Watching the chick hatch. Yeah, it's pretty- When they bring food back, you get to see it live. Yeah. You deliver a freaking fish to the nest. I think there's one up in Salt Lake somewhere on one of the buildings. Oh, it used to be. On a peregrine falcon. Yeah. I don't know if they still do it or not. This one's- Yeah. Lake Tahoe, I think, is this one. You can see it covering the nest and it's snowing. There's a foot of snow on it. That could be you. She shakes it up. And then you guys get this million viewership. Sell some ad spots. Sell some ad spots. Turn this into like a YouTube live channel. Is that even a thing, Logan? Sell some ad spots to the air gun companies. That is a thing. Oh, yeah.

YouTube live. Hey. I think we're onto something. Just titled it, What Does the Fox Say? Yeah. What does the Fox say?

All right. I'm way over this. Let's talk hunting. Let's talk hunting. I'm so over what's going on in John's backyard right now. We're minutes. If not- And Loki Bear's dating life. I mean, that's as boring as it gets, right? Yeah. There's no stories. There's no stories. All right. What are you doing this weekend, Logan? I'm going to go hang trail cameras for it. I like it. That's where we're at, right, Pollock? Yeah. Pollock, have you ever set a trail cam and a bar ditch for that spike maybe you got there? I may or may not have done that. No, but I'm in the process of.

What are you in the process of doing? Setting a camera. I'm just trying to figure out how to keep it from other people seeing it. Oh. But there is a situation that I know of that, yeah, you almost need one in a bar ditch. Really? Really? Yeah. Let's map his route here. There's only- There's two routes. There's only 20 miles that I'm interested in. Well, there's 20 miles there, but then is he coming over Brian Head or is he coming through Breaks? Yeah, he does. He does mix it up a little. I can't put one through Cedar Breaks. That would be a national monument. I believe that's illegal. It's too early for him to be going over the top. Have you ever done anything illegal in your whole life? Never. Never. Took a light detector test, passed it. Josh, what is your- Okay. What is your spirit at? You can chat GPT that and it'll teach you how to pass them, I'm sure. Exactly.

They didn't have chat GPT or whatever in 2005. Back when you took the O- And don't act like you don't know what it is, Josh. Yeah. But he didn't know how to get taught how to- We should chat. I'm going to chat GPT. How did it get Logie Bear a date? No, Jason. I'll bet it comes up with some stuff. But yeah. I just need to figure out how to put one on a T-post and- Really? Yeah. Keep it concealed. Have it be part of a fence. Didn't you have ways to conceal cameras when you were a law enforcement officer? Oh, yeah. I put one in a birdhouse once. You really? Oh, yeah. Tell us that. So, there was- You made the birdhouse? What's that? No, I disassembled the birdhouse and then put the birdhouse back together. Whoa. So, there was a- Those ones that you just see out like marshes and stuff, like, oh, somebody put a birdhouse out there in the wild for a bird to stay out of the rain.

There was- I'm not going to name the reservoir because I don't know. Maybe it still gets done. I don't know. But there was a reservoir that had- Let's call it Minersville Reservoir. Beaver County. Yeah, something like that. And it had like a- it had a- they'd built like an artificial kind of inlet where they would go catch- I want to say it was cutthroats and stuff. Anyway, they'd go catch the cutthroats and they had this little reservoir type thing and they'd build basically like a fish raceway in a- it looked like in a- what, a hatchery or whatever. Hey! Oh, my gosh. And so, at some point in the year, those trout would start coming up. They'd turn and you couldn't actually fish this reservoir. It was illegal to fish the reservoir till like July 1st or whatever because that's when the spawning was all done. Okay, that narrows down the reservoir right there. You have people poaching fish.

And yeah, people- it was just hard. You could- and you'd literally pull up to from here to John away and you could pull up to and stop your vehicle and then get out and look in that raceway and it'd be full of fish and like- They can't- People just couldn't help themselves. I don't know. There was a lot more pictures- Isn't that in trap? There was a lot of things- Isn't that along the lines where you'd load it with fish? That's in trap. That's called beating. So, yeah. Those glassy deer that are out there that's a 210 buck just- We wanted to see if people were actually doing that and stuff because you'd catch people. So, there was actually- I was sitting there wondering like, where can I put a camera? And I looked over and like, there's a birdhouse right there. So, I went over and took my drill and disassembled the birdhouse and put the camera inside of it.

So, it was fun right out the hole. These are fun projects. Reassembled the birdhouse and hunting people. I got all kinds of pictures. I can just see this now all across. Did it work? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I got all kinds of stuff. But more stuff you didn't want to see than what you wanted to see. It wasn't worth it in the end. But a lot of evidence. Yeah. It's lots of evidence. Lots of evidence. Yeah. People preferred grub worms there to try and catch the fish out of there. Anyway. So, lots of grub worms. Things like that.

I don't know where to go from here.

Jeez, Josh. So, yeah. No wonder you're somewhat demented. I can just see right now. I can see where the history of experiences have changed. See, after this, you're going to have southern Utah, southern Nevada. Everybody's going to – we're going to be out there putting out cameras here. We're going to have birdhouses all around so people, you know, try to hide them. There's some significant camouflaging, some different stuff that you use on one. I almost have to be an artistic taxidermist to figure that out. Yeah. Josh, are you a taxidermist? You take some rubber cement and slather it all over your face of your camera and then pull sagebrush and bark and whatever off the stuff you're putting it on and then put it all on there. It's kind of smart because rubber cement you could peel off for the next project. Yes, exactly. Gosh.

And now with picture on demand, do you think Game & Fish is using these picture on demand cellulars, yada, yada? Yeah, absolutely. I'm sure. Yeah, I'm sure. So, yeah, that way if you find one of my cameras, I don't know, be careful. Look for birdhouses. All right. So what are you trying to take a picture of that's near a road or something? Big bull or a bird? Just wildlife. Viewing. Fox dens. Just stuff. Yeah. Animal crossings. Yeah. Fuzzy. Fuzzy. All right. So Josh is out and about doing it. John, you're going to get set up. Logan, you're getting set up this weekend. I mean, it's happening. What do you mean set up? What does that mean? Oh, starting to run cameras. You are, John? Yeah. Really? Both of you. Okay. Huh? It's no joke. I'm not. I'm not. I know how much time's. No, but I'm going to tell Ty that we're doing it, and that means you will. Yeah. We can get Ty around.

I sent Adam a little picture down. Well, he doesn't know. A boat trailer and truck. I had to float the boat and get it kind of just basically so we have projects that are ready to happen. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Kind of get your boat out. Did everything go good, by the way? Yeah. Everything went. Turned over? Oh, yeah. Everything's great, but it was dirty. By the time you wipe it down, now we're ready. So I sent it to Ty and Adam. Adam's been holding him off of getting the boat out. Well. And this was hooked to a boat trailer, and he knows I'm at the Sand Hollow parking lot. It's also been blowing about 40 miles an hour the last couple weekends we've tried. Yeah. So anyway, I'm just causing Adam some angst. He's going to have some projects. He doesn't want to. Hey, it was actually kind of nice. So water was good. Jana served it. It was all good. Wow. All right.

Moving right along. Yeah.

What else we got? What else we got to talk about? We're waiting by the minute for Nevada. By the time we finish this podcast, we may have to break and log in live. Well, I mean, if I draw, I don't want to tell. And if I don't draw, I don't want to tell. I don't want to tell. People want to know good stuff. That's the only way to do it. I am. I am excited, too, about Wyoming Deer and Antelope. Why? Why would we be excited about that, Adam? Because you don't have any tags yet. Okay. Good point. And you need an option. Way to be brutally honest. I mean, you want more tags. But also, I think the antelope are doing really good. The antelope really are.

Deer are doing okay to good what's there, but the number of older age class deer aren't there. But antelope, no joke. You got points. Go. Go. And you do have points. I do. We do. A couple of your kids. Yeah, we do. And I was point boosting off of them in the name of them, right? Of course. Helping them out. Yeah, helping them. Mama thinks I'm awesome. Trying to be the best dad in the world. And so anyway, we're in. We're in. We're in the draw. I should have waited. But sometimes you just sit down like you said yesterday. What can I apply for right now? And get everything done. Kind of check that list. So deer, antelope, Wyoming, just awesome opportunities there, especially antelope. Tag numbers are still somewhat repressed. They haven't gone up much. In relation to the quality out there. They've been fairly consistent in the last couple years. So been cut dramatically in 2023.

And then 24, they kind of stayed there. 25, there's a couple that started up. But as a whole, they haven't gone up heavy yet. So it makes drawing a little bit tougher. But if you get a tag. But you get that quality bumping hard. And then they'll unleash the tag numbers. I just love. I joke all the time with you about antelope. But I love the enthusiasm I'm seeing coming from you about this. I'm excited. I know. I don't know why. I want to kill stuff. Yeah, exactly. Well, and I mean, it's kind of like Josh. Josh buys a new rifle. It makes me want to buy a new rifle. Yeah, and it's been years since I've done that. So, I mean, you can't say years. Maybe since last calendar year. I love it because we tease. We've been teasing all week. We get a new rifle in. Adam, maybe debut that rifle. I think we've sold about four guns, five guns in the last two days. Yeah.

Not one of them is from somebody outside of the office, is it? No, no. And it's kind of frustrating because we make a little less profit on those guys. Hell, yeah. But having said all that, we get this new Mountain Reaper in. Just an awesome color, awesome rifle, 6.5 PRC. It is awesome. It looks awesome. That one's a 6.5. Yep, 6.5. Nice. And you don't have one of those for you. I have like four or five because I was the guinea pig on those for a while. I mean, Jason's, you know, encouragement. Yeah. I love it. I have one of every make. If nobody's spending money, it's hard for me not to. But if you guys are spending money, I'm pretty good. Did you see how encouraging Jana was this morning? Yes. I mean. What was her point on that? What was she doing? To keep the lead bore at bay. Encourage others to do it, but not you.

If the satellite bores are spending money, buying things, then the lead bore is subdued for a minute. He can lay there in the wall and just watch. I'm going to admit something. So today we went out. We were working up, let's call it working up a rifle, whatever. We mounted the scope, went out. We shot it 200 yards, four and a quarter the day prior. And then this morning, here we are. And we're like, let's shoot this thing at seven and a quarter. We went out there. We got it dialed. So when you're at seven and a quarter or eight or whatever your range is at, when you tighten that up, if you come into four, it's dead on because one or two clicks doesn't matter at four. You can just see it. You're like dead on. It doesn't really matter. Two to seven would be great. We tightened it up, right? John, you were there. Yeah. Tightened it up on seven and a quarter, shot 840. No joke. Within inches.

It was money. Logan, unbelievable, right? It's awesome. Logan, are you interested in that gun? And it's for seven. Those are scoped setups that people could call us and buy right now. So these are brand new. All we did was mount the scope, Z5i Plus. And dope them up. That's it. That's it. And we have shells to go with it. Went out, shot them in just to prove it, videoed it, and they're cherry. They're just cherry. I got a call from somebody as you guys were leaving the range, driving here, that at least one of those guns was bought by one of you four or five people. That's my point. And when I come in and Josh had already bought a gun, I felt like I was... Squelched your enthusiasm. It did. But I'm telling you... So what happened is we ran out of shells, which I didn't know. And I had an extra box in the side door panel in my truck. And so... Which I didn't tell you about.

Because I don't want to be ridiculed forever. Because I would ridicule you if we did that. It's never going to stop. And so anyway, I'm on my way home to grab shells. And I'm like, no, by the time I get them, it's going to be 85, 90 degrees. Wind everywhere. Heat waves. Camp video. All of the things. And the only thing we were doing is we were going to shoot 1,000. But then we went to set the zero stop and we accidentally bumped the turret. And while everything was off, and it was just... Now it's off. And then you're out of ammo. And we're out of ammo. But anyway, I thought, I don't care. I'm going to buy the gun. I turned around. Okay. You turned around? Yeah. What do you mean? I mean, I turned around in the bar ditch and everything. And I was going back. And I'm like, I don't care. I'm buying the gun.

I'll just swap the other Z5i Plus that I have brand new in the box waiting for me to mount it on. That's good. It's all brand new in the box. I'm going to take this gun. When you develop a relationship with a rifle. And you take it to the range and do all of the things. When you are clicking everything, torquing it all down, you build it all up. You go out. You sight it in. Two or three rounds. You ring still. Six rounds we had it sighted in. Another five or six rounds it was super tight sighted in. And then you nail the 840 dead center. And you're headed for 1,000 or whatever. It's nothing. This gun, 22-inch barrel, lightweight, CT, unbelievable. I'm like, why would I not buy this gun? Jenna's got a desert sheep tag. She needs one. She does. That would be a perfect gun. She absolutely does. That would be a perfect gun. And Josh is buying guns. And his wife is letting him buy guns.

My wife should let me buy guns. For her. For her. Right? For her. Josh is buying that one for him. And is there a better cartridge for a sheep than that? No, there's not. There really isn't. There's not. I probably killed five, six rounds with that. Plus a mountain goat. Plus about four deer. I mean, antelope. I mean, every single thing I've ever shot at 6.5 comes home. So then I turned back around. I was headed back for the hour. I'm like, no. Can't do that. So I'm headed back for the hour. And I'm like, no. And actually, by the time I get back, the wind's going to be up. The heat's going to be up. All this. So I just call it. But what I like is what you said. I don't need to go do that. I'm going to buy the gun anyway. So how much does it owe me and you, John? No, I didn't. I'm going to. What do you mean? No. I can't do it. I've got to tell myself, no. I've never done it before.

It's hard. You're making a mistake, Jason. It's like you telling yourself, no. You said you bonded with the gun. I did. Yeah. And that's most important. This thing. There's certain draw results that, you know, once in a lifetime type result requires once in a lifetime type purchases. It does. This gun is once in a lifetime. You can't turn your back on performance and bonds. I'm just saying, if we do this at a regular basis, how many can we buy ourselves? Jason. We've got to tell ourselves no. What's one? And that's all I'm saying. When you shoot, shoot, shoot. And then you're like, it's ready. You want to just put it in the box? Does that? Take it home with five boxes of ammo? I would hunt with that gun right now. I mean, once we get it back, we bump the turret. Oh, yeah. Once you just go take another box, tighten it back up, get the zero stop set, it's done. But I know this gun.

I know what it shoots because we all videoed it. We all were there. Okay. Well, why don't, maybe I'll buy it. Well, I'm good with that. I'm just saying I have to realize because this isn't the only one we're going to do. I can't have them all. And I think that's part of it. It's just, but when you do shoot like that and you feel like I could shoot a chipmunk at seven and a quarter or whatever, I could hit a. What is it? This is a CT rogue, a fierce? CT rage. Is it rage? Okay. Oh, yeah, it is a CT rage. So the idea of the whole thing was we sell the guns, but there's guys that call and they just want, they don't want to go through. Open the box. Choose my scope, all of that. Do you know how bad it sucks to go through and do it all? Well, it does. A to Z. Yes. And it's like Adam says. Adam's like, oh, if you're doing a couple, let me throw another one in.

When you're going out, it's a half day project. By the time you load up, you go out, you set up, you're painting targets, you know what I mean? And doing all the things. It just kind of adds up. Wind picks up, then you're done, then you don't get as much done as you thought you would, so you've got to start over another day. And then that's a Saturday or a week when you're like, I don't want to be in a shooting range on film. Okay, let me paint another picture. You get up, cherry, everything's great. You round the bend, and dudes are lined up on your long range shooting. Yeah. You know what I mean? You're just like, really? Bottom line, yeah. Your day's ruined when you pull up. Not a breath of wind. You're 30 minutes waiting for it to get light, and there's also somebody else parked at the long range thing. And from the targets that you painted the night before. Okay.

That John paints targets, what, at midnight? Yeah. Who knows? Midnight, one of them at 1 a.m. Jeez. That way they're done. Fresh and dry. Fresh, yeah. And then you've got somebody on another range zinging over into your range. That's how it is. And I was telling Logan this. Out of fairness, these over here probably weren't visible, so had to shoot those targets over there.

No, I was telling Logan, I didn't just take a paint, like a spray can. I had a bucket of paint and a roller. John! That I painted these targets. They were cherry. I love the graphics department. They make spray paint, John. They do. Yeah, but this was covered. They call them rattle cans. And then I measure out so I know what 12-inch squares are. Oh, my gosh. Wow. And you probably had stencils. Like, you know, John probably at each range, he makes a 2 MOA size target. So from now on, you just know how many clicks you need to go. When we're going to the range, we're going to tell you the night before, and that'd be your part of it. Okay. Then somebody's got to sleep there that night. I like the big box, but I like four little boxes in each corner. Will you do that on each one of them the night before we go out? We need a stencil. So just hit some orange. Yeah. Three-inch orange circle.

The range out here is nice, too, though, because it's got targets at all, a bunch of different distances like that. You know, there's a lot of ranges, actually, that don't. That's one thing that guys could run into. There's a lot of ranges that, to get beyond 500 yards, even at good shooting ranges, like the one we have over there in God's country, it only goes to, like, 400. It's got zero to 500. And then somebody went out there at 1,000 yards on these ledges clear up there, you know, and hung a big metal plate that you can just, like, all right, let's see. Somebody could be shed hunting up there on the mountain and get zinged over. Possibility? All right. All right, Blake. Well, yeah, if you're from the east, it's difficult to get it. You know, 800 yards, 1,000 yards. All right. So fast forward. Let's just say fast forward.

I'm always optimistic that the Silver State has actually given them a tag. Raise your hand on the count of three. One, two, three. Well, we're all optimistic. You've got to raise your hand. You have faith in all. Yeah, I'm manifesting that. I have that in other facets of my life, but when it comes to this draw, I don't. But having said that, are you excited? Yes, you are. It's exciting to talk to people that draw tags. It is. That is the fun part about being here, whether it's our licensed app clients, whether it's just members, because they've got to set stuff up, whether it be on their own, outfitters, whatever. They're just draws begat incitement. Colorado will be next week for, you know, 14 different species that come out Tuesday to Friday. So it's the next one. So the other thing I want to talk about, so we've got these draws coming out. Josh, of course, you're so excited. Guess why?

There's nothing you don't draw. What do you mean? You've got. I mean. You've got. Family and friends and you. Deer and elk and other stuff. The one tag we were supposed to, we didn't. Well, yeah, and that was a. One tag that planned a lot of hunts around that hunt. Yeah, because she got drawn for an elk before she got to the mountain goat. So that's a good thing. Well, and the deer, my dad didn't draw that deer tag too. And Josh is sitting here saying, I don't know if I got enough space on my car for Nevada, Arizona to go ahead and hit those two. I'm doing points only. Anyway, I guess my point is, is you're buying guns left and right because you're drawing tags left and right. You're expected to draw more tags. Are you? I think I'm not. Colorado? Do you got kids in Colorado? Yeah. Yeah. I guess they're. And one of them is going to draw for sure. Yeah. Well, I'm excited about Colorado.

Pretty darn fun. Family members might draw there. But Nevada? I really not plan on things. We got stuff to hunt and it's fun. So it'll be good. It's great. And it's funny too. I was just talking to my guy I know there who lives next to me the other night. It's funny that. People say the draws don't work. Is that what you're going to say? Yes. Yes and no. Or that there's something to it. Like people don't believe that you can get a random tag. You know, like 50% of tags in Utah go randomly to people. And so you mean they actually have a chance. So that means whether that's zero points or 25 points, if it takes 28 or something, whatever. Yeah. If it takes 28, in some cases with 20 points, that means you've had 20 years in the random draw. You're unsuccessful, but they're going to just come apart on 21 that you actually drew a tag, a random tag, and you're 21. Yes, exactly.

You're like, I've been applying for 20 plus years for a set tag. How about Jana's been applying for 27 years? You know what I mean? Yes. At some point, you kind of earned one a little bit. And that's what I like about like the Utah system or Utah or systems in Arizona, whatever, where there's max points in. And also randomness. I'm looking forward to that in Colorado. Colorado's been nice to predict, but it will be nice to have a what if. Checking results will mean something in three years. Yeah. It will. Yeah. Yeah. You could randomly get a 44 tag, whereas before I just know by looking at it that it's a waste of an elk. Or an elk tag. Yeah. Like once you burn your elk points, which we've done, like, man, it feels like I'm doing it because it's $11 or whatever, but like what are you ever going to really use those on? Well, now, any tag you want. Yeah. Put it in. Yeah.

You don't feel like you have to come up with some janky muzzleloader, you know, tag or something like that. Just to go hunting. Yeah. Just pick something good, and if you get it, you get it. How do you think that's going to affect things like applying-wise? I mean, I would have never applied for a unit 44 tag because I wasn't even close. Well, I think it's going to affect- What do you think people would do? A lot of people do because they don't understand that it's a preference point system. So a lot of people think that there's randomness to it. I'll put it for 44. But I do think people that are more educated, they will say, all right, I'm not going to do points only now. I'm going to put it in for 44. Yeah. You know what? Might as well have a shot. Gunnison Basin four season tag or something. Might as well have a shot. Do you think- The other thing is- We'll see any other-

You don't see these shifting? You will. You'll see some shifting, but what is that going to look like? Who knows? Yeah. You have- You're guessing the preferences, the application preferences of thousands and thousands. Yeah. On top of that, are those thousands and thousands educated that there is a change now? You'd be surprised. We live in the world, so we know the changes. You'd be surprised at what people don't know. Just like people that are going to be in cash and boulder hunting with scoped rifles. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. You know what I mean? They don't- I mean, we're in the middle of it. We see the change. We've been actively participating in whatever rack processes and things. Like we were- We know intimately a lot of people are just going to work every day. Yeah. It's funny. We were joking about it every day.

There's some Facebook, and I would encourage anybody to go become friends with these because it's great entertainment. But like these Facebook pages that are Utah hunting and fishing or Utah mule deer hunting, and I don't know if it's just Utah. I don't know if there's any ones out there. Obviously, it's their home state. So we get on there, and it's actually shocking the people that have drawn some of the tags that they've drawn, most of them all at random, because most of the guys that are drawing these tags with max points, they know what they're doing or they're expecting it or whatever, and they've been in the system long enough. But there's people that are drawing some of these tags with two points, and they're like, hey, there was one. I think it was a multi-season tag on one of our best elk units in the state. The guy drew it with two points.

He's like, I'm going to have to put a thing in Google Maps to even get me there. I don't even know where the unit is. Does anybody know how to get to San Juan? Do you think I could kill a five-by-six? Yeah. They're like, has anybody heard of Beaver East and how to get there? Never been there. We're talking deer. General deer, even. No, it was elk. Oh, elk. Okay. Yeah, it was something like a multi-season on one of the best units in the state, and they don't even know how to get there. They had two points. And it's just crazy that, yeah, there's people that are like that out there. They just don't know, and it looks good. I think Logie Bear is going to be my first call. Yeah. He shouldn't call me. Oh, he should. Come on. You're out and about like crazy. All right. Well, I agree with that. I agree with all that.

And so we also have, Bronson, we have Arizona coming up where guys are applying. And, you know, sheep and deer. Got a lot. Bison point. Yeah, that's. Turkey point. You know, that one. And then you got Idaho and Wyoming, like you just said. California. Well. Come on. Montana antelope. These are good things. I want you guys all to realize. He's brought up two antelope states now with vigorous enthusiasm. Okay. I can kill them. I can kill dinks. That is a good thing. You know when you load up your kid or whoever, your kids are going to go to Wyoming, you know that when you come back, there's going to be blood on your tailgate. Yeah. You can't say that. There might be a need for a meat wagon. That's right. Okay. But when you go do. I've taken the meat wagon and it's been empty. A lot of other stuff you go on, you realize you got a clean bed when you come back.

Oh, clean bed and balance on my credit card. After seven to ten days. Yeah, it gets old. So it is fun. Antelope for fun. But, no, yeah, you're right. Arizona, it's probably the highest profile state remaining just because, you know, it does have tons of opportunities for coos deer, some elite mule deer options and a lot of, you know, more average options for mule deer. But, and obviously sheep, you know, get your bison point or whatever. But it's, they're all coming due here that first three or four days of June. You know, all these that we're just talking about. June, third, yeah. Second, third, fourth, I think. Second, third, fifth, I think. Idaho, yeah, the fifth. So, yeah, it's running out. But don't give up hope yet. Pretty awesome. And I think, too, is like Idaho, we're going back to this randomness.

I like what Josh is talking about on, you know, having random chances and playing that a bit. We've kind of gone, you know, we're always playing with point systems and messing with preference points versus bonus points. But Idaho, I'm not having a point system. You know, I feel bad that I applied for sheep now that I did draw because it kind of keeps me from applying. Yeah, just because you want to play for everything. But I appreciate you doing that. Yeah. Because it takes me out of the draw for you. You're going to be applying? Is that what you're saying? I mean, you've got a full schedule. Come on. Yeah, probably not. I mean, you see what I mean. Yeah. Between running my cameras in the bar ditches, I'm just, I'm busy. I don't know. I don't know if I can pull it off. Yeah. Yeah.

Sighting in my new gun that I bought today. What are we going to scope it out with? I don't know. What's your first gut, I think you thought? Zeiss V8. Yeah. Cherry. Awesome. Love them.
