00:00:01:17 –> 00:00:05:24
Is, this is a year you don’t wanna hunt. Is it a year? You don’t have time? You do have time. Got

00:00:05:24 –> 00:00:08:21
Archery hunts. You got muzz loader hunts, two to three, four rifle hunts.

00:00:08:22 –> 00:00:12:20
60% of your shirts are sleeveless. You know, you, you know, you’re not prepared enough.

00:00:13:03 –> 00:00:14:11
Anything to do with Western big games.

00:00:17:23 –> 00:00:21:09
Welcome to the Epic Outdoors Podcast, powered by Under Armour.

00:00:21:27 –> 00:00:30:23
Hey everybody. Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, Chris at the keyboard coming at you from Southern Utah. We’re not quarantined yet. Our friends in Idaho say they’re quarantined.

00:00:31:12 –> 00:00:35:06
I’ve got my six feet between you guys though. Well, yeah, well, yeah, you do. We are, we’re all good.

00:00:35:15 –> 00:00:55:24
So the funny thing is, Bronson, so, so Adam and I, we go out to eat. It gets us outta the office. Okay? We come in at three or four or five, whatever it case may be. Six, late day would be seven. And we go, you know, we work. And then it’s nice to get out and like, go see the community. Support the community, right? Get away from the phone. Look

00:00:55:24 –> 00:00:57:16
At the sun. Right? Make sure the sun’s up,

00:00:57:20 –> 00:01:10:26
See the sun. And so with this crackdown, and nobody can support our local restaurants like we like to do. It’s hard, right? So what, so our options are takeout at the curb. Okay? So my wife’s again,

00:01:11:27 –> 00:01:12:08
Right?

00:01:12:08 –> 00:01:12:28
Okay. This is

00:01:12:28 –> 00:01:13:22
Causing contention.

00:01:13:26 –> 00:01:43:21
But then, no, not huge contention. I get her point. But, but at the same time, it is nice to go out a little bit, right? So it’s Friday. Today’s Friday, want to go out and see the world for a minute, right? But you’re not supposed to. She’s being good. Kids are being good. Everybody’s quarantining. Ornery, right? And dad goes out and decides to do curbside. Right? But you could get the Corona from like, well, there’s dishes probably that styrofoam was made in China. The all kinds of lids, silverware. You don’t know who touched and where. And, and I, I, I

00:01:43:21 –> 00:01:45:04
Grabbed silverware out of our thing here

00:01:45:04 –> 00:01:54:03
Right now. I know. And I ate with one that they gave us, which was bad. And then there’s napkins and it can live for seven days on those. And somebody probably squeezed on those. And so now,

00:01:54:14 –> 00:01:55:06
Now it’s, it’s just like

00:01:55:08 –> 00:02:01:20
The ampt pile that I go out and I get the white shizz on my legs and I come back and poison the colony. That’s right.

00:02:01:20 –> 00:02:08:11
That’s what’s going on. You saw her look at me. I I even teased her. I walked in, I says, we’re trailing the decon back to the nest right now.

00:02:09:26 –> 00:02:15:24
The daddy rat went out, got poisoned and is poison in the nest. And that we didn’t even, she’s looking at me like,

00:02:15:27 –> 00:02:17:09
But we didn’t even leave the truck.

00:02:17:11 –> 00:02:22:27
Yeah. She’s looking at me like, we, you got a camper, you got a box trailer for a side by side. That might be your house.

00:02:23:09 –> 00:02:24:24
14 days and I’ll see you. That’s

00:02:24:24 –> 00:02:29:04
Right. Quarantine for 14. Let’s see if you have any symptoms. So anyway, that’s,

00:02:29:04 –> 00:02:36:22
We’re just doing our best like everybody else to try to try to survive, but try to not go crazy too. So gonna

00:02:36:22 –> 00:02:39:02
Go Corona times are tough times. Yeah.

00:02:39:08 –> 00:02:39:24
Huh. So

00:02:40:15 –> 00:02:43:20
C ovid, 19, 17 and 19. That’s all bad for you. Yeah.

00:02:43:20 –> 00:02:51:04
You, you get your parents moved down and then the first, and then the first week that they live at your house. They’re quarantined, you’re quarantined with them.

00:02:52:02 –> 00:02:55:02
It’s not the easiest thing in the world. Love. And you got good parents. Love

00:02:55:02 –> 00:02:55:15
Your mom and

00:02:55:15 –> 00:03:00:28
Dad. Hey. And your mom. She’s probably cooking and cleaning. Oh, is she? Your bachelor pad has never been cleaner. I’ve never

00:03:01:01 –> 00:03:05:02
Ate better. My house has never been cleaner. Whoa. That’s it. Fringe benefits. Yeah.

00:03:05:03 –> 00:03:08:18
Having said that, is it worth it? And you don’t have to answer

00:03:09:11 –> 00:03:11:05
There. Oh, just, there are some struggles.

00:03:11:24 –> 00:03:25:04
There’s family struggles everywhere. You’re not the only one. So anyway, that’s just the way it goes. But you know what? Let’s, let’s see if w let’s see if Wawa’s working. Let’s give him a ring. Should we give him a ring? Anybody think he’ll answer

00:03:25:29 –> 00:03:38:19
After last time? I’ll bet. He thought it was probably an emergency last time. I’ll bet he’s not biting this time. I, I be the answers. I bet he doesn’t. I’m gonna say he does. He can’t resist. He’s quarantined. He’s quarantined right now. So,

00:03:40:08 –> 00:03:41:00
Started off,

00:03:41:01 –> 00:03:41:22
Bro. Yeah.

00:03:42:02 –> 00:03:42:14
Oh yeah.

00:03:46:12 –> 00:03:46:23
Hello?

00:03:48:13 –> 00:03:49:28
You screened in your calls or what?

00:03:50:18 –> 00:03:52:06
I was just working on Colorado here.

00:03:52:16 –> 00:03:59:22
Oh, well, we, we snuck over and did a podcast, but we didn’t want you to think we weren’t thinking about you over there. How

00:03:59:22 –> 00:04:01:13
You Well, thanks, thanks for thinking of me.

00:04:01:19 –> 00:04:05:24
You got six feet. You got six feet everywhere around you right now. All good.

00:04:07:13 –> 00:04:10:04
Yeah. Yeah. I, I I think we’re all good. I, well,

00:04:10:04 –> 00:04:10:08
Good.

00:04:10:15 –> 00:04:12:05
Any no signs of the Corona?

00:04:13:01 –> 00:04:16:19
No, no signs of the Corona here. This office. Okay. We’re still still going strong.

00:04:16:26 –> 00:04:29:19
What about Colorado’s kind of on the forefront of everybody’s mind right now. Let it let you got any tips and tricks for trying to get into accounts and portals and things like that? Wyatt? I mean, what are you running into? This is a, I don’t just

00:04:29:19 –> 00:04:31:19
Make sure you have the right email on file.

00:04:32:00 –> 00:04:47:29
Yeah. You know, they’ve got, they’re one of the states that went to this username, which is their c i d and a password. And so if you don’t have that and you’re not getting in, you better have the right email on file when you hit that reset password. Or it’s gonna go into cyberspace. I think part of

00:04:47:29 –> 00:05:10:14
That is some of these guys have a, you know, a service do their, their apps for ’em and they throw their own, you know, email on there. And so when you, you know, if you were to go do your own applications and you don’t know what your password is, then you’ve got, you hit the reset and you and it, you know, it, you gotta use the email on file. How do you get that switched over? And so that’s kinda a challenge, huh?

00:05:11:06 –> 00:05:17:26
Yeah. Yeah. You do have to contact the state office to, to make that happen. And, you know, they can be super busy this time of year, especially

00:05:17:26 –> 00:05:21:12
With the Corona over there in Colorado. Yeah. It’s running rampant over there in Colorado. Yeah.

00:05:21:16 –> 00:05:25:01
I do believe a few offices may be shut down actually too. Really

00:05:25:01 –> 00:05:31:28
Running into that A little bit. Huh? Getting a little, little, you know, fast, busy when you’re calling a few of those.

00:05:32:14 –> 00:05:36:20
Yeah. Yeah. I have heard a couple voicemails saying that they are shut down. So, ooh,

00:05:37:21 –> 00:05:52:19
Get it. Time to get your application in. Make sure you can get into your accounts. If you can’t, you get a call in office, have ’em re verify the email on file, send you a reset password to that email, and then you can get in just one of the many things that you’re gonna have to encounter.

00:05:52:21 –> 00:05:55:26
How many points you got over there in Colorado? Why? I, I think

00:05:55:26 –> 00:05:56:01
We,

00:05:56:09 –> 00:05:58:01
I’m sitting on a, a, a big zero.

00:05:58:14 –> 00:06:02:14
I think we’ve Jason think just as well hashed over in a prior podcast. What Wyatt

00:06:02:14 –> 00:06:11:25
Just crush. He’s still crushing me over him using his points in an area that should have produced. And because he and he still harbors harsh feelings toward,

00:06:11:28 –> 00:06:12:19
And you, we,

00:06:12:19 –> 00:06:15:08
We learned where not to hunt out of that. So it’s all good.

00:06:16:05 –> 00:06:19:19
Well, they doubled the tags and who was to know? Who was to know Exactly.

00:06:20:03 –> 00:06:26:18
Exactly. It could’ve easily went the other way and had the greatest time of my life. Yeah, you too. Since I didn’t, I’m still gonna hold you accountable.

00:06:26:21 –> 00:06:31:14
There was a lady that killed a giant Why? Why? And we know, we know we know her. So there

00:06:31:14 –> 00:06:32:16
Was Yeah, she did.

00:06:32:29 –> 00:06:33:17
It happens.

00:06:34:26 –> 00:06:40:14
Well what else? What else is on the front burner? Any tips and tricks for application wise? Why don’t we can give our listeners

00:06:40:29 –> 00:06:50:05
Right now. I just wouldn’t wait on Colorado. Wouldn’t hesitate to get in. Of course. We’ve already hounded into their minds of the season dates, so.

00:06:50:23 –> 00:07:03:05
Well yeah, you’re not really gonna, there’s really nothing. Unless I’m missing something and there’s nothing Now between now and April 7th, we’re not waiting on any results. Carter, the Nevada guy draw came out for the few lucky those

00:07:03:05 –> 00:07:11:16
People. Guy draw was tough. We had guys with 17, 18 points that weren’t drawn early rifles, you know, less desirable rifle hunts. That’s right. So pretty tough.

00:07:11:25 –> 00:07:20:16
So there’s nothing to wait for, I guess what we’re saying. No, there’s, you’re not gonna gauge the winter winner’s not been crushing statewide. Couple little pockets here and there, but nothing, just a healthy

00:07:21:01 –> 00:07:22:28
Colorado winner. A normal Colorado winner. Nothing

00:07:22:28 –> 00:07:43:07
To normally totally stay away from. So get ’em in and don’t get to that last few days. I shudder to think what the last few days without full functional offices and staff are gonna look like trying to get a hold and the 800 number or whatever the draw, draw contractor number is 50 times worse than trying to call an office. So good luck getting through. Yeah.

00:07:43:07 –> 00:07:48:20
And a little bit sooner. Deadlines, you know, Montana, deer and Elk, and then Wyoming, Buffalo as well coming up quick.

00:07:48:26 –> 00:07:49:24
That’s next week. That’s

00:07:49:24 –> 00:08:01:06
Know we got that coming up April 1st for Montana. We got all our guys in there. Adam and I cranked on those a bit and kind of exciting. Got got me fired up, actually applied myself. How about

00:08:01:06 –> 00:08:02:22
That? Did, did you actually go through it and do it?

00:08:04:06 –> 00:08:05:20
Yeah, I got to the checkout screen

00:08:06:29 –> 00:08:10:29
And then decided I’m gonna out and go do a podcast and see how I feel about it in

00:08:10:29 –> 00:08:13:18
Then hour. It’s probably timed out. I’ll haul, I’ll tell you here.

00:08:13:27 –> 00:08:21:14
Oh, the car. That’s a mule deer junkie for you. He is going to pay 700 hundred dollars for a general tag application. You

00:08:21:14 –> 00:08:22:23
Have a one and 200 shot at two

00:08:22:23 –> 00:08:24:19
70 at at a two 70 tag. A two 70

00:08:24:28 –> 00:08:35:20
Tag. Well there’s some big deer that come out of that country, so it’s hard to ignore it. And with the Corona out there, maybe you have a one in 150 shot. Maybe it gets a little bit better, huh?

00:08:36:01 –> 00:08:36:25
I don’t know. But,

00:08:37:03 –> 00:08:42:25
And then, you know, Wyoming bison your best shot at a free range bison Yeah. Application. And guess best odds

00:08:42:25 –> 00:08:51:05
March 31st. It isn’t, it isn’t terrible odds. It’s not bad. It’s 4,500 bucks. If we’re just gonna round a whole numbers, we’ll do that. I

00:08:51:05 –> 00:08:59:16
Always, every time I think of Wyoming bison, I can’t get our good friend Mackenzie outta my mind mind. When he was a grind, it was tough. It depends on the weather. Couple years ago it could be a grinder.

00:08:59:25 –> 00:09:00:29
It was a grinder a couple years

00:09:00:29 –> 00:09:05:02
Ago. He went back last year with his dad and had a great hunt. They killed another great one. I

00:09:05:02 –> 00:09:09:18
Know. And everybody, a lot of guys did good. It just took him to the end that couple years ago. Yeah.

00:09:09:18 –> 00:09:12:17
I think you talked me into it. Why? I’ll get it in by Tuesday. Come on

00:09:12:26 –> 00:09:13:05
Snow

00:09:13:10 –> 00:09:14:04
And bitter cold.

00:09:14:11 –> 00:09:15:16
You’re gonna do it. Yeah.

00:09:17:00 –> 00:09:17:14
Promise

00:09:17:22 –> 00:09:19:12
You. Get pinky. Get pinky Promise.

00:09:19:19 –> 00:09:21:12
How much meat do you get off one of those? Oh, a

00:09:21:12 –> 00:09:23:18
Lot. But yeah, that’s right. You’re

00:09:23:18 –> 00:09:25:12
Gonna do it you some hard times, like what’s going on right now?

00:09:25:12 –> 00:09:29:13
That’s right. Get you through hard times. I’ve I’ve normally have. Yes. Mr. Carter, have you

00:09:29:13 –> 00:09:31:07
Seen what the tag fee is? 45.

00:09:31:08 –> 00:09:33:17
I just said $4,500

00:09:33:22 –> 00:09:35:05
In Corona times. That’s a lot.

00:09:36:00 –> 00:09:39:05
It’s not like dog years. There’s no multiplication factor. I mean

00:09:39:13 –> 00:09:40:01
Economies.

00:09:40:26 –> 00:09:49:11
It might be, but hey to hey, coming from somebody that shot one when he was 15 years old and says Buffalo. I’d done that a long time ago. Why would you want one of those now?

00:09:49:27 –> 00:09:50:04
Hey,

00:09:50:14 –> 00:09:51:24
I mean, geez. I know.

00:09:51:26 –> 00:09:52:05
I, it

00:09:52:05 –> 00:09:54:16
Was somebody wants else, wants to shoot one too.

00:09:54:19 –> 00:10:06:04
Yeah, I know. I know. I wish I could. I would shoot one nowadays, like back then. That’s a distant memory. Keep in mind, 30 years ago, 30. 30. Do you remember how old

00:10:06:17 –> 00:10:12:10
Do you, Chris? And do you guys 35 ish? I I I asked you four to five times a year. Chris

00:10:12:11 –> 00:10:15:18
Was paying, playing with his belly button in a bathtub 30 years ago.

00:10:19:09 –> 00:10:20:05
That’s probably correct.

00:10:21:23 –> 00:10:21:26
I

00:10:21:26 –> 00:10:25:16
Mean, what what do you got to say? You kind of quiet over there. You about to say, oh God,

00:10:25:16 –> 00:10:31:07
Just still over here, just waiting to get back to Colorado. I’m gonna let you guys, you know, tell our listeners

00:10:31:08 –> 00:10:32:05
Wants to get off

00:10:32:05 –> 00:10:33:04
On where to and how to and

00:10:33:04 –> 00:10:35:13
Pushing Tonka trucks around on his knees.

00:10:35:23 –> 00:10:40:13
Wyatt, did we get you in trouble last time we had you on the podcast? Are you, are you outta hot water yet?

00:10:40:15 –> 00:10:41:28
Can we talk about that or not?

00:10:42:21 –> 00:10:46:05
Yeah, no, find find out. The girlfriend does listen to the podcast.

00:10:48:26 –> 00:10:49:06
We asked

00:10:49:23 –> 00:10:50:13
Specifically

00:10:50:28 –> 00:10:52:17
A lot more female listeners than I thought.

00:10:52:19 –> 00:11:01:29
Well, and it was, it was, she obviously listens because of Wyatt’s Association. But what was the specific comment that she keyed it out. Set us

00:11:01:29 –> 00:11:05:17
Up. What was the setting? Were talking, I think it was hand in hand with the sun setting. And how’d it go?

00:11:05:17 –> 00:11:07:01
No. Oh yeah. You were, you were, it

00:11:07:01 –> 00:11:09:04
Was, it was on the, the kidney stones. Which

00:11:09:20 –> 00:11:19:07
Yeah, but, but you but she didn’t call you about it. You wait to tell you guys don’t live in the same town. You’re not far away. But wait until she had you in person right before she brought it up. Yeah.

00:11:19:08 –> 00:11:21:25
Out for, out for our Sunday walk. And she, she brought,

00:11:21:25 –> 00:11:29:06
Brought it up, hit me with it right there, hand in hand. She wanted to visit you guys. Turn you look in each other’s eyes. And she says,

00:11:29:28 –> 00:11:36:26
So you really didn’t want to talk to me, huh? Believe that’s the comment I made is I didn’t wanna talk to her that time. ’cause she was proving me wrong.

00:11:37:29 –> 00:11:43:29
And so I am of little value. I’m, I’m a nurse and I didn’t help you. You really believe that? Did it go down like that?

00:11:44:15 –> 00:11:45:25
Basically? Basically.

00:11:46:00 –> 00:11:51:01
She’s a good lady, Wyatt. We like, just, just so everybody knows, we’re just giving, giving her a little,

00:11:51:06 –> 00:11:59:23
Just teasing. But it, it was funny. It was, was in the regards to the kidney stone crawling to the hospital, crawling, crawling to the truck. And I don’t know, she

00:11:59:23 –> 00:12:05:00
Was well, and to keep it real, she’s two hours away of hard driving, huh?

00:12:05:26 –> 00:12:11:28
Yes. Nothing really she can do to help. And you don’t mean that in a bad way, but there’s nothing anybody can do when you’re, what’re gonna

00:12:11:28 –> 00:12:13:24
Do. All right. Anyway. You’re

00:12:13:24 –> 00:12:17:17
A tough ombre. Just like Wyatt Earp. I think that’s the name’s appropriate.

00:12:17:22 –> 00:12:28:00
No more creatine, no funny drinks. Just water. All right. Just water. Just water All. Okay. Sounds good. Well, good luck with Colorado. All right. I thought you later. Let’s let him go. All right.

00:12:29:17 –> 00:12:35:08
Did you know about any of that, Chris? No. She, she freaking, what do you mean? You said the podcast. I was no help.

00:12:35:26 –> 00:12:52:07
She’s like, what do you She didn’t wanna talk to me. Really? I mean they, their relationship grew from that. Yeah. Come on. Tell me it didn’t grow. Yeah. You know, and, and helping ’em grow too. It’s okay to throw a little bit of here and there. Just, just, you know, test test them out a little bit. So Bronson, what’s

00:12:52:07 –> 00:12:53:05
The most, lemme ask the question.

00:12:53:12 –> 00:13:03:07
Well, I’m just wondering, what is the most asked question that you’re fielding at the call center right now?

00:13:04:09 –> 00:13:54:19
Well, for about the last two, three weeks and probably for the next three weeks, two, three weeks, it’ll be Colorado deer. It seems like it’s that way every year. Simply because there’s so many options. Two to three rifle hunts in every unit, sometimes more. Sometimes a high country rifle hunt and then arteries and muzzles and point tiers from zero to 26. Right? Yeah. And options everywhere. And then of course the date shifting later this year. Have a lot of people interested in that. And some people are looking forward to 2021 or looking at saying, should they wait? And our general messages is don’t for a couple reasons. One, get it, get what you can while you can get it. Point creeps alive and well and harsh in Colorado. It really is. It’s difficult.

00:13:55:01 –> 00:13:57:14
Kill ’em while they’re alive and we’re, we’re thinking

00:13:57:14 –> 00:13:59:19
It’s probably gonna get worse in the next two years. Well

00:13:59:19 –> 00:14:21:14
The thing is, you kill ’em while they’re alive. Like you could have a devastating winter this winter. You’re gonna have point crepe. You have point crepe more than anybody even thinks you got these low tag number, especially the low tag number groups where you end up with just a few applicants who make all the difference in the world. And what it takes to draw just a few applicants on 10, very 5, 10, 15 times.

00:14:21:19 –> 00:14:57:05
Very important for non-residents to keep in mind. Everybody talks about point creep. How much is it gonna jump? Well, it’s obviously a product of who applies this year, but you hit the nail on the head. If you’re talking about a unit with a thousand deer tags and three or 400 of them going to non-residents gonna have a lot less impact. Very minimal you might say in a situation like that. Versus units with 30 to 50 total tags or 10 or 20 and you got three to five to eight total non-resident tags. Eight living people out there with your points or more. Yeah. That can do damage. It’s pretty volatile. Yeah.

00:14:57:14 –> 00:15:17:07
Yeah. Yep. No, there’s no question. And so, you know a lot of guys, and it’s a natural human thing. You wanna make the most of the points you’ve saved and and whatnot. And there’s guys with 10 points and what do I do? And then they look at a unit takes, you know, maybe some guys drew with six, you know, and a hundred percent draw with seven. You know, it’s hard for them to use 10 points on that.

00:15:17:29 –> 00:15:19:26
It’s kind of like in the college days,

00:15:22:23 –> 00:15:25:23
You can’t talk about those days. Those are off limits for the podcast.

00:15:26:17 –> 00:15:29:05
Okay. No, my

00:15:29:10 –> 00:15:31:05
Marriage is staying intact. Okay.

00:15:33:05 –> 00:16:23:02
I can’t even finish it because that’s funny stuff. I don’t care who yet. Go ahead. But when you’re, you go on a group date, you got about, come on, six or eight or 10 of you and everybody’s handed a $10 bill. You’d ever do one of these dates? My wife and I did. It’s actually our first date anyway. You gotta go to the store and it might’ve been five bucks. I don’t remember. It wasn’t a big amount of money. You gotta go to the store. Of course this was 1995 or six. So you could buy a lot more of $5 back then. You can now. Oh yeah. But it’s kinda like when you go then and, and you’re, you’re supposed to make a meal, the group of six or eight couples and everybody goes and buys. You can’t talk. You buy something and then you gotta come back and make it. And you want to come in by the skinnier teeth. If you got five bucks, you want to buy 409, $4 and $97

00:16:23:14 –> 00:16:25:06
97 cents worth of

00:16:25:06 –> 00:16:27:12
Groceries. You wanna come in, buy the skin of your teeth.

00:16:27:13 –> 00:16:35:10
So you might grab free packets of mail and, and a, and a packet of mustard. So that’s right. That’s free. Right. Or whatever. Whatever the ingredients might be. Whatever

00:16:35:10 –> 00:16:52:18
You’re gonna make whatever. Yeah. You wanna come in. You don’t wanna leave $2 on the table when you could’ve spent the full five. That’s kind of what you’re talking about and call it. People wanna spend every inch. Yeah. People wanna burn 10 points on a unit that was drawn 1% with 10 points. They wanna be the one guy that got got it with 10. Well,

00:16:52:18 –> 00:17:15:28
And it does feel good to do that once in a while. But having said that, we’ve got guys, I talked to guy today. I got 20 points. Okay. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and I said, yeah, you’ve been trying to get just something outta reach 20 years in a row or the last 15 really? And he’s, and now you’re sitting at 20 and you’re still doing it. You’re still doing it. And so anyway, yeah, it’s, it’s natural thing.

00:17:15:28 –> 00:17:17:01
You’re gonna have to, it’s a natural

00:17:17:01 –> 00:17:17:08
Thing.

00:17:17:28 –> 00:17:38:19
But our point is to go hunting, burning something that takes two or three points less than what you got. Especially if you’ve got 8, 10, 12, 15, 60. What does it matter if it’s the kind of hunt you want? Yeah. Get that outta your mind that you quote wasted two points. You didn’t waste two points. You got drawn. You got drawn. You didn’t waste anything. That’s right. So

00:17:39:10 –> 00:17:41:12
I just, I got a question. This is a little off topic.

00:17:42:06 –> 00:17:44:04
Just like, Hey, is this another college?

00:17:44:06 –> 00:17:52:12
I just want you to, I want to ask you a question, Chris. Will you guys ever look at a gas pump the same ever again?

00:17:53:04 –> 00:17:53:19
I doubt it.

00:17:54:05 –> 00:18:11:02
Ever think about that a moment in time. The coronavirus has changed the way we look at gas pumps. I look at that thing and I go, I need gas. I look at my gas tank, I look at my gas cage, I need gas. I look at the gas pump that’s gonna kill me. I look at the

00:18:11:05 –> 00:18:23:02
Gas gauge. What are other I need gas. Let’s talk about other things that, that elicit that same reaction. One of ’em for me is when you can’t go in the banks anymore, right? Everything has to be done through the, the little canister

00:18:23:05 –> 00:18:32:10
Talk you, Bronson gets mad. Throws a fit. Huh? You’re throwing a fit. Yeah. They’re charging you $5 on this account that you didn’t authorize. Dont, it makes you mad. Yeah. You didn’t read the fine print,

00:18:32:25 –> 00:18:35:10
Whatever, whatever. But that’s not what we’re talking about right now.

00:18:35:10 –> 00:18:36:16
Well, so now you can’t close the account.

00:18:36:16 –> 00:18:55:17
I can’t out can’t go into my, ’cause I can’t go into another bank and open an account. Okay. Okay. So that’s another story. Okay. But I don’t, makes you mad. Every time you gotta get money out or you gotta put money in, you gotta use the little can. It’s all drive through Now that’s which which we use quite a bit. But now every person is handling that same, we’ll call it a little money pod. That’s

00:18:55:17 –> 00:18:55:19
Right.

00:18:55:22 –> 00:18:58:28
That’s right. Every person, every hand. Every hand.

00:18:58:28 –> 00:18:59:08
Think about

00:18:59:08 –> 00:18:59:25
That. Every

00:18:59:26 –> 00:19:00:06
Think

00:19:00:06 –> 00:19:00:16
About

00:19:00:17 –> 00:19:01:12
That. That’s

00:19:01:12 –> 00:19:01:19
Another,

00:19:01:19 –> 00:19:03:24
They need to have little, you know, they say they do alcohol

00:19:03:24 –> 00:19:05:10
Wide. They say I’ve, I’ve

00:19:05:10 –> 00:19:05:13
Read,

00:19:05:19 –> 00:19:11:24
I haven’t seen, they have a little sign, they have a little sign we’re doing this. But that’s on the inside. Come on. And I don’t know if it really happened.

00:19:11:24 –> 00:19:14:19
You gotta push the button that says send that button’s not getting cleaned. All

00:19:14:19 –> 00:19:16:11
Of it. All of that. Yeah. So what, where,

00:19:16:11 –> 00:19:27:16
Where the canister goes flying up in and outer space. Down underground and inside. I over there, inside the building. I don’t like it. And then they send back stuff. Okay. Go to the mail. We go to the mail, we open up the mailbox and we pull out letters.

00:19:28:15 –> 00:19:29:08
Where’s that been?

00:19:29:21 –> 00:19:32:00
Well, they came from various places across the country.

00:19:32:05 –> 00:19:39:04
How about two or three weeks ago you and I got got something here at the office and from China. Remember

00:19:39:04 –> 00:19:40:11
That? Yeah. There was a package

00:19:40:13 –> 00:19:41:00
From China. Parts

00:19:41:00 –> 00:19:42:29
For John. I don’t, I think it was for John. And I’m like,

00:19:43:17 –> 00:19:53:02
It was in Chinese. The right it, this was not made in China. This was literally from China. From China. Parts from China. All the writing was Chinese. And

00:19:53:02 –> 00:19:55:28
I look at it and I go, that’s a terrorist act. This is,

00:19:56:02 –> 00:19:58:13
This is three to four weeks ago. Somebody could be charged

00:19:58:20 –> 00:20:01:23
For this anyway, you know? So we put it on John’s desk and we

00:20:01:23 –> 00:20:03:10
Walked away and we washed our hands.

00:20:03:11 –> 00:20:09:13
We shut our, shut the doors, shut his door, shut the other door, left it to his own office, let

00:20:09:13 –> 00:20:10:10
A bug bomb and walked

00:20:10:10 –> 00:20:18:07
Away. And he’ll come in, he’ll come in, touch it and then go home. Right. Daddy rat goes home with white on his legs. Right? Right. Chris

00:20:18:09 –> 00:20:20:19
Daddy ant daddy ant shuffling his way back.

00:20:20:19 –> 00:20:38:00
And their gin is, their gin is, so anyway, I What about the free newspapers that are thrown at your base, your steps for, you know, the Daily Sentinel, all the ads, all this kind of stuff. What about that? Huh? I’m just saying, you know, and Okay, and this is Adam. You’re answering Adam, tell me about

00:20:38:08 –> 00:20:39:11
Answer. Your question is no a

00:20:39:11 –> 00:20:41:11
Group of sheep. You get high populations of sheep. What happens?

00:20:41:21 –> 00:20:46:01
Potentially? Yeah, you, you don’t have spatial separation stuff. How about

00:20:46:01 –> 00:20:50:02
Rabbits? You have a problem? How about rabbits? How about COEs? I mean it’s just

00:20:50:11 –> 00:20:54:00
Part of it. You got the plague. Humans are not supposed to live on top of each other. Got

00:20:54:00 –> 00:20:58:22
Everything. Yeah. So anyway, unfortunately all, so now back to Colorado deer, I just, I don’t know, I

00:20:58:22 –> 00:21:00:26
Just, gas pumps. Yeah. From gas pumps

00:21:00:26 –> 00:21:01:00
To

00:21:01:03 –> 00:21:04:05
Banks to parvo. Yeah. To,

00:21:04:29 –> 00:21:10:12
It’s changing our life. Everything’s changing our everybody’s lives out there. So anyway,

00:21:12:22 –> 00:21:13:07
Colorado deer,

00:21:13:17 –> 00:21:19:14
Colorado deer. So let’s just say there’s lots of guys, guys calling in. Well I got two points. What are you gonna do? What are you gonna tell ’em, Bronson?

00:21:20:11 –> 00:21:59:14
Well usually you start with the, with the weapon preference. And if they want to go, everybody wants to go. When I say everybody, 80% they wanna hunt third or fourth. Well your options get pretty limited when you say I only wanna hunt November with a rifle. ’cause doesn’t everybody, so you start looking, generally you’re gonna have to look at units with a lot of tags. You know that 18 cluster, the 35 clusters, 40 threes, you know, of course 30 threes. 30 fours. Which Chris, you know, Chris and I know all about that. It’s not worth a fraction of the money it’s printed on. Yeah, that tag really well, there’s a few big deer emphasis on few, but that’s it. But I’m talking, it’s

00:21:59:14 –> 00:22:06:00
A couple of giants that show up in the winter range. But they come from private and obscure. Tight, thick, cany, brutal

00:22:06:00 –> 00:22:06:11
Country.

00:22:06:26 –> 00:22:07:13
25,

00:22:07:17 –> 00:22:41:07
Half the unit is a cliff face. Yeah. 25. I mean you’ve got a lot of these units were just rattling off here. 71, 7, 11. You got things like that that what’s the common denominator is a lot of hunters, the reasons you can draw something in November 3rd season is not because they’ve got 10 tags. You’ve got hundreds and sometimes thousands of tags. That’s right. That’s right. And so that’s your trade off. And keep in mind not hunted Colorado before, during the second and third rifle seasons. You’ve got watt also going on at the same time. Most over the counter elk in most of the state,

00:22:41:17 –> 00:22:51:29
In most of the states, you got over the counter elk hunters. And so you’re just dealing with orange everywhere. So anyway, and and I had a guy say, you know, you talk so negatively about it. I’m not thinking. I’m thinking, well it’s not that

00:22:52:22 –> 00:23:08:04
You gotta point it out. ’cause if we do, we do it. I’ve done it for 15 years. For the most part. It’s, yeah, you just better be prepared for it. ’cause if you’re like, I’m sick of hunting my general, I’ve heard so much about Colorado, you’re gonna go over there. How many people do you say Jesus? My general is better than that.

00:23:08:13 –> 00:23:08:19
Yes.

00:23:08:27 –> 00:23:43:19
How many times do you hear it? Right? ’cause they’re only general hunting deer. You go to Colorado, you’re hunting deer and elk at the same and bears, I mean bear tags are over the counter on those. If you have another tag. Oh yeah. It’s, it’s just something to be aware of. Now you start jumping up to four, to five to six points. You can start looking at units with lower tag numbers. Or in some cases you can shift to that fourth season. Yeah. And draw some of those tags that take zero to one on the third. That that maybe they take two to four to draw the fourth. You still got a lot of tags. That 18 cluster, you know, the 25 clusters, you know. Well it’s

00:23:43:19 –> 00:23:44:04
Kind of interesting

00:23:44:07 –> 00:23:49:10
Too. But you weeded out the, you got a lot of tags, but you weeded out the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of tags.

00:23:49:10 –> 00:24:06:11
That’s right. I think we should talk about too, the differences in our take maybe on the second, third versus fourth. Not, not necessarily units, but just the difference in seasons. And like, there’s some prime examples. Like 22 fourth has been taken 20 points, you know, and 22 third has taken 9 22

00:24:06:11 –> 00:24:08:12
Second takes four. Yeah. So four to five.

00:24:08:20 –> 00:24:09:22
So I mean there’s a huge

00:24:09:22 –> 00:24:12:19
Difference. Difference. And that goes to November 1st this year. Think

00:24:12:19 –> 00:24:14:24
About, what about 44 second? That’s right.

00:24:15:04 –> 00:24:16:04
Six goes till November 1st.

00:24:16:09 –> 00:24:20:12
Right. And some guys with six draw it versus let’s say third

00:24:20:12 –> 00:24:23:25
Season. Let’s look at that. 22. A hundred percent with 22. We’re talking

00:24:23:25 –> 00:24:24:25
22 points. We’re

00:24:24:25 –> 00:24:25:10
Talking non-resident

00:24:25:10 –> 00:24:47:29
Last year. Strong odds. That’s right. Right. And so, you know, and I know guys that are got 24 that are thinking about contemplating it, who knows what’ll actually happen. And then you jump to a fourth, which is 67%, 24 points last year. Yeah. 25 for this year. So anyway, part of the drawing odds real quick, if you’re looking at the drawing odds in the magazine or on our website, which you should be, remember those are points last year.

00:24:48:11 –> 00:24:55:18
You have to minus one off of your level now to plug yourself into that equation. Last year. That’s right. How you would’ve been of last

00:24:55:18 –> 00:25:19:19
Year. Did you have, if you have 10 now, you had nine last year. Just keep that in mind. Obvious things that maybe some people just, they overlook it ’cause they’re, you know, they’re still looking at these draws and anyway, and then second, third versus fourth. In my mind, Bronson like, think about this. We’re so excited for next year. Right. The season dates are so exciting. I mean, we’re gonna be there. You, you all should be there. Everybody should be there. Right. I

00:25:19:19 –> 00:25:26:07
Guarantee I’m not gonna be there where most people think they’re gonna wanna be there though. Okay. Okay. I’m gonna go earlier. I’m gonna just give you that hint right now.

00:25:26:07 –> 00:25:34:14
Okay. There. There you go. And that’s my point. The guys are excited about third and fourth. Well maybe the second is the best, depending on when the storms hit. It’s gonna end on November 7th.

00:25:34:25 –> 00:25:55:08
I had this discussion with somebody that was contemplating on drawing this year or next year. And they had the points to draw a fourth season. And the dates next year or even later. This year’s what? The 18th to the 22nd next year. It’s goes to the 28th. 24 to 28th. Yeah. Is that right? Next year? Yep.

00:25:55:22 –> 00:25:58:00
No, next year. The second goes the 24th. No,

00:25:58:00 –> 00:26:00:23
I’m, no, I’m talking the fourth in 20, 21 The fourth.

00:26:00:23 –> 00:26:03:13
Fourth in 2021 goes November 24 to 28.

00:26:03:15 –> 00:26:33:10
Okay. So they’re contemplating those versus this year, the 18 to 22nd. And I’m like, and the unit that they were going in had hundreds and hundreds of tags, hundreds on the second and third. And I said, let me paint this picture. You’ve got this year, they’re late next year. They’re even later. You’ve got a second season that goes till November 7th, a break, and then a third that’s like the 13th to the 19th. And then you’re gonna want to go there and with a grin and you’re gonna conquer the world because

00:26:33:10 –> 00:26:36:00
You have the best season on the latest hunt ever.

00:26:36:08 –> 00:26:36:25
And and he said

00:26:36:25 –> 00:26:38:07
In, in the recent history, I’m glad

00:26:38:14 –> 00:26:40:10
I’m putting in this year, I’m drawing this year. That’s right.

00:26:40:15 –> 00:26:40:22
And

00:26:40:22 –> 00:26:41:12
He should, I think. Sure.

00:26:41:21 –> 00:26:46:28
That’s you’re hunting after everybody gets done this year, we go through a winner. Who knows what it’s gonna be like. Like

00:26:46:28 –> 00:26:48:16
Who knows that, let’s see. A That’s right. That’s outta

00:26:48:16 –> 00:26:56:10
Your control. And then next year you’re gonna wait till the late. The second has never been later. The third has never been later. And you’re the last gun. That’s right. You’re the last gun. Yep.

00:26:56:10 –> 00:27:00:07
That’s right. John and I experienced that two years ago. We went on the, the later season.

00:27:00:13 –> 00:27:03:04
Any a unit that’s a lot attacks before you, right? Exactly. Yeah.

00:27:03:04 –> 00:27:11:22
And the storms came in early. The guys on the earlier seasons had great hunts, killed bigger deer. By the time we got there, it just felt like everything was gone. Yeah.

00:27:12:07 –> 00:27:46:01
Remember that when, when I, well, I hunted the fourth and I think John was on the fourth in 18. Yeah. Two years ago. Yeah. And, or or three. Dude, I lose track. Almost three. Almost three. Oh yeah. I lose total track. I mean, but anyway, for all intents and purposes, let’s call it several. The, the second was awesome, Chris. There was several 200 inches killed. Okay? And because of social media, we get to enjoy everybody’s pictures. Right. It’s getting us wound up third, no change in weather. Little bit of complaining and murmuring. Right. Come into the fourth, we were hunting leftovers of the second third. It was brutal.

00:27:46:11 –> 00:28:20:20
Okay. Yeah. And that’s, that’s kind of what we’re trying to paint in the picture. And it will be that that scenario will play out the worst in units with hundreds and hundreds of tags on second, third season, if you’re in a unit, let, let’s just say you’ve got a hundred second season tags. You’ve got 33rd season tags and ten four season tags. Okay? It may not happen. You’re, you’re, they’re gonna take bucks from you. But it may not be like the units that have 1502nd tags, 1500 thirds and then 200 fourths. That is a recipe for hunting gut piles.

00:28:22:02 –> 00:28:24:05
It’d be fine if you were hunting kylees. Yeah.

00:28:24:17 –> 00:28:27:25
Buy a bear tag. If there’s a one that hasn’t done yet, you might kill one.

00:28:28:05 –> 00:28:30:08
Anyway. What? So at the end of, I

00:28:30:08 –> 00:28:37:22
Was gonna bring up jumping opposite point of that, but do you think there are gonna be a couple Oh yeah. Monsters that

00:28:37:22 –> 00:28:38:28
Appear that yes. That

00:28:38:28 –> 00:28:41:13
Were just in deep timber and didn’t come out till late because Chris

00:28:41:14 –> 00:28:48:25
Never hunt governor tag season dates. Yeah. For all intents and purposes, in, in normal auction tag season dates in normal states,

00:28:49:10 –> 00:28:58:28
The, the Colorado governor and raffle deer tags. West I 25 can only go till November 30th. That’s right. That’s two days after the fourth.

00:29:00:14 –> 00:29:08:01
Who’s gonna a devalues those tags? Yeah, it does. You know, in my opinion, the nice thing is for those tags, they get to plug and play in any particular unit, want

00:29:08:07 –> 00:29:08:24
September 1st. Right.

00:29:08:25 –> 00:29:24:02
But yeah, that’s kind of nice. Yeah. But having said that, I mean, you’ve got general season, let’s call it general, it’s limited entry units, but you’ve got limited entry deer tags that were drawn with points that are, you know, out there killing stuff left and right.

00:29:24:21 –> 00:29:58:29
Lot of, I do think there will be Chris and I think I, I think in those low deer density units with the moderate to lower tag numbers because of the lowden densities, I think those potentially have that now in units with a lot of deer. Yeah. You still have the potential for something to show up, but if you just go with the odds, I I, I don’t like ’em, I don’t like my odds in that situation. Yeah. So I think people will burn a lot of points on the fourth in 2021. They will. ’cause the dates are unlike anything we’ve ever seen in our life. When do you ever in your life get to hunt deer with a rifle? November 24th to 28th. How about

00:29:59:13 –> 00:30:00:14
Some places in Nevada,

00:30:01:02 –> 00:30:02:20
Arizona, when you go to late tech

00:30:02:20 –> 00:30:05:04
Nevada and some of these crappy units, so to speak,

00:30:05:07 –> 00:30:09:25
Arizona late rifles on the Kibab 12 B. 12 A, 12 B, that’s about it. I mean, really once

00:30:09:25 –> 00:30:12:04
Every 15 years for a non-resident on that one or

00:30:12:04 –> 00:30:12:28
20 Wow. 20,

00:30:12:28 –> 00:30:18:11
20 plus plus whatever. So yeah, anyway,

00:30:18:11 –> 00:30:20:23
Lot to consider. But I we’re just, and

00:30:20:23 –> 00:30:30:04
What’s, and here, okay, so now let’s, let’s flesh it out. At the end of the day, you haven’t taught me anything. I’m a listener of Epic and, and you guys are telling me all this stuff and I don’t,

00:30:30:04 –> 00:30:30:23
I’m doing, I don’t

00:30:30:29 –> 00:30:32:24
The takeaway, I don’t know the takeaway. Okay,

00:30:32:24 –> 00:30:33:18
What is that is

00:30:33:18 –> 00:30:36:02
Is second now, at the end of the day are, should

00:30:36:02 –> 00:30:36:26
I go second? I’m

00:30:36:26 –> 00:31:44:04
Ready to go. Gonna third, are you gonna do fourth? And which, which year do you do it? And that’s what I guess part of it, a lot of the equation is, is you personally, how did the Corona hurt you this year? Is it, is it a year you don’t wanna hunt? Is it a year you don’t have time? You do have time And then, and or do you really want to go next year and, and play with the season dates because you’ll never be able to do it again. I mean, there’s a lot that goes into it. And then second versus third versus fourth, that’s, those are all personal personal decisions. Sometimes guys can hunt, let’s, let’s say 44, you wanna hunt the best unit in the state, go hunt 44 second, you don’t have the points to hunt the third or fourth maybe you get, maybe you play the, you know, luck card and hope for good weather and you kill a giant, you steal a giant off the best unit in the state for seven or eight points for a non-resident. You know what I mean? And so there’s, there’s a, a options to go and hunt otherwise, you know, unobtainable units on earlier season dates that are maybe less desirable, you know, and then some guys just want to take and hunt the best season dates no matter what on a less desirable unit.

00:31:44:19 –> 00:32:46:25
Yeah. And that’s, that’s the trade out. And we’ve done, there’s no perfect answer. We’ve done the full spectrum. We’ve used our points and gotten what we thought was the best tag for our points. We’ve also played season dates only. You’ve done that in recent years. Gone fourths in years. And you’re like, I wanna go on the fourth this year. All I got time to do, line up and draw fourth. And you go hunt. Don’t get one thing in your head and get stuck on that thing. I guess you gotta be a little bit adaptable. If you’ve got points to do some damage in Colorado this year, go in the air with your eyes wide open a little bit. I will say Carter, there’s a lot less tendency for a second season to out creep you than a third or fourth this year. Oh yeah. Underutilized. Totally. And I the biggest, well, second biggest deer I ever shot in Colorado, I killed November 2nd running their guts out that year. There was an unprecedented amount of snow. It was 2004. It was, it was un it was my first time to Colorado and I thought, this is the Garden of Eden. I’ve never seen anything like this. 16

00:32:46:25 –> 00:32:50:17
Years. 16 years ago. Yeah. That’s what keeps us going back. It’s a lot like Mexico.

00:32:50:26 –> 00:32:52:07
I’ve never seen anything like you

00:32:52:07 –> 00:32:55:24
Hit that one great year, you go for the next 10 praying to, to have something like that.

00:32:55:28 –> 00:33:02:25
Great year. But, but they were rutting and I actually saw him the night before, couldn’t kill him. That, that night. Killed him November 2nd. And

00:33:03:12 –> 00:33:04:29
They, the one with the bullet holes through the antler.

00:33:05:03 –> 00:33:43:10
Yeah. I don’t know how that got there either. Still don’t, not proven, huh? No way to prove it either, huh? No way to prove it. And you know what, I know an interesting fact about that here, another one. And I caped that thing out. Did I remember talking? I caped it out and peeled up. You know, you’re cutting the ears off on the, on the side of the face. Found a 22, 1 of those subsonic 22. Come on. Bullets flying flat right there against, it’d been healed over laying there. Somebody tried to shoot him in the ear in the past. No. Kill him. Po gotta be a poacher. One of those, you know, they’re a little bit longer than a regular 22 long rifle. Yeah. They’re the 22 rim fire. It’s a 22 rim fire. You

00:33:43:10 –> 00:33:44:17
Think it wasn’t a 22, 2 50?

00:33:44:20 –> 00:33:53:16
No, it was, it was solid little lead laying flat. I’ve seen ’em, my my dad had something. They’re supposed to be subs, they’re like quieter. I dunno, flight shooting stuff in.

00:33:53:16 –> 00:33:54:16
It’s like a short 22

00:33:54:16 –> 00:34:16:29
Short kind of, but yeah. Yep. But, but it, but it was a long laying flat right there behind its ear. Like someone tried to shoot it Right, right by the ear. Right. Oh. And kind of a neat, I still have that little book. Come on, I’ll bring it in. I got it. No. Wow. Just like the, just like the broadhead out of my Henry Mountains, but in the shoulder didn’t find that until the meat hunter, a meat cutter went and picked up the meat. Remember? Yeah.

00:34:17:01 –> 00:34:19:01
He’s like, and he’s like, Hey, you might be interested in this shoulder

00:34:19:01 –> 00:34:31:18
Blade. This shoulder blade’s got a broad head in and I just assumed and it was peeled over. I, he’s like, yeah. I says, well, I I, I crisscrossed it from both. He said, it’s probably one of mine. I don’t think so. And it’s not, we should show a picture of that sometime. It’s pretty amazing.

00:34:31:19 –> 00:34:39:25
It was awesome. It actually went in, what’s that bone that comes out of the shoulder blade that’s raised by you? Inch and a half raised. There’s

00:34:39:26 –> 00:34:41:13
A technical term for it I’m sure, but

00:34:42:06 –> 00:34:47:11
Clavicle, I don’t know what it is. Anyway, it went in there. Yeah. Scapula. Well that’s the hole. I thought that’s

00:34:47:11 –> 00:34:48:26
The back. Yeah, no,

00:34:48:29 –> 00:34:52:10
That’s the whole shoulder blade right there. Yeah, but it’s the,

00:34:52:20 –> 00:34:58:02
The fin that you gotta cut down fin when you, when you bone meat out, you gotta cut down on both sides of it and then you Yes, it’s the race

00:34:58:06 –> 00:35:05:18
Fin it went in, penetrated that, and at that healed around it. Healed around it. And this broad head is in perfect shape still. You could, you could break that apart,

00:35:05:25 –> 00:35:17:20
But there’s no way to get it out of the, out of the bone. It’s healed in there. The arrow shaft is gone, brought it in there. Buck was exhibiting nothing. We watched that thing for weeks. Yeah. Never exhibited anything. And I remember and

00:35:17:20 –> 00:35:18:11
He grew great and

00:35:18:11 –> 00:35:37:12
He grew great. Somebody at the expo that year came up to us. Remember I you used that. Find a scar or anything in that buck and we’re like, no, didn’t see a scar, but I got someone’s broadhead and they told us a story. The guys the year before had shot that thing Right. Smack smacking that in that shoulder and obviously got away and, and he

00:35:37:12 –> 00:35:38:22
Healed and he grew great.

00:35:38:25 –> 00:35:40:00
20 something inches.

00:35:40:10 –> 00:36:04:28
Probably a lot of times. One side or the other will be messed up because of that. But, wow. Couple anyway though, like, like you said, Bronson, we’ve hunted the thirds, second thirds and fourths, you know, 60, 61, 70, all the, you know, 30 fives eighteens 60 eights, all the gunna Gunnison stuff. 54, 55, all of that stuff, you know, 20 twos, 20 ones. I, I love 21. I don’t know why it’s, it’s,

00:36:04:28 –> 00:36:06:20
I haven’t been there for 10 years or so, have

00:36:06:20 –> 00:36:12:16
We? No. Might have to go back. It’s, it’s just, I just love the country. So anyway, I, you know, it’s

00:36:12:25 –> 00:36:34:10
So many options over there. You look at that unit of Colorado. Yeah. Even just the western part where we public land, you know, self-guided hunters tend to gravitate to man, the options are endless. And so haven’t applied ourselves. I mean, I don’t, I don’t know what I want. I’ve got some points to do damage. I mean, you’re same boat people out there. I just, I I might,

00:36:34:14 –> 00:37:02:19
If you call in I’ll consult you and we could just, and then by the end of the phone call, I’ll be like, that sucker, he should just do this like I tell him to. But then the same thing is I, I can’t even, I don’t even know what I’m gonna do. Isn’t that crazy? Yeah. There’s so many options. That’s what we love about Colorado. Of course the elk, we covered the elk and whatnot. We’ve covered the whole Colorado section of our publication already on a podcast. We just get so many questions about the deer. That’s, it’s a deer factory, you know? And so

00:37:03:02 –> 00:37:09:25
Pick something in your slot, don’t be too afraid of it. The this is the new normal in Colorado. What I mean by that is

00:37:10:26 –> 00:37:11:06
There,

00:37:11:08 –> 00:37:48:23
It nothing is super top heavy on big bucks. It’s just not, it’s not like it used to be. It’s not drive around and drink Pepsi and shoot 180 bucks outta your pickup window. Like some places were frankly 10 to 12 years ago. They’re, it’s not like that. So it, the expectations are different. Be willing to live with what happens and be willing to then just go back frequently. You know, you got a lot of different ways you can go back. We talked about earlier, you got archery hunts, you got muzz loader hunts, two to three, four rifle hunts. If they’ve got a nerdy high country and just go back often, you know, kinda like what we try to say in Wyoming. Same thing goes often as you can or working into your rotation.

00:37:49:24 –> 00:37:54:04
Let’s, let’s give Devvin a call. What do you think he’s working? Do you think he’s really, well

00:37:54:04 –> 00:37:54:23
We’ll find out

00:37:54:26 –> 00:38:01:29
Plugging and playing over there. See what he’s doing. Maybe he’s talking to some hunters. I love checking. He will,

00:38:02:11 –> 00:38:03:24
He will definitely screen his calls.

00:38:04:03 –> 00:38:05:04
Hello? What

00:38:05:11 –> 00:38:05:24
Are you doing?

00:38:07:08 –> 00:38:09:23
Just trying to get some doll sheet pitchers.

00:38:10:09 –> 00:38:15:20
Oh, all right. For some folks working on some hunts or you mean submissions? Yeah. Got some hunts or

00:38:16:02 –> 00:38:17:16
Hunt giveaways. Yep. Working

00:38:17:17 –> 00:38:25:18
On, working on some projects for guys. I mean, you got guys calling in wanting to, wanting to have you doing a little research, figuring on some openings.

00:38:26:07 –> 00:38:26:13
Yep.

00:38:27:26 –> 00:38:39:13
So Devin, what do you, what do you, what are you getting guys calling in for? I mean you’re, you’re kind of working with our outfitters and whatnot. Are you getting guys wanting to know if there’s cancellations or you,

00:38:40:05 –> 00:38:47:18
You know Yeah, yeah. Everyone’s thinking the same thing that, you know, all the stuff’s going on’s gonna change jobs, but maybe we’re all thinking the same thing.

00:38:47:29 –> 00:38:49:10
Yeah. ’cause nobody’s quitting. Are we?

00:38:50:07 –> 00:38:50:29
Nobody’s quitting.

00:38:53:07 –> 00:38:54:28
That’s what we’ve noticed is a

00:38:54:28 –> 00:39:18:05
Lot of people are hoping people are quitting. But we joked about it. I don’t know, we were at lunch or something today and we joked that diehard avid western big game hunters within reason. I’m not advocating anything as far as what your first priorities are, because we all know what those are. We’ve got families, we’ve got jobs and all that. But the last thing to go from the,

00:39:19:07 –> 00:39:23:19
From other than, other than food is first hunting is second. That’s

00:39:23:19 –> 00:39:24:14
Right. Yeah.

00:39:24:27 –> 00:39:26:02
Isn’t that what it feels like? Toilet

00:39:26:02 –> 00:39:27:29
Paper’s way down the list. What’s

00:39:27:29 –> 00:39:28:04
That?

00:39:28:23 –> 00:39:30:10
Toilet paper’s way down the west.

00:39:30:14 –> 00:39:30:20
Oh,

00:39:30:26 –> 00:39:32:24
Oh yeah. Toilet paper’s overrated right there. Right.

00:39:32:24 –> 00:39:58:28
That’s and the thing is, we’re talking with hunters, right? So they’ve all got lighters, they’ve got pyro putty in their pack. I mean they’ve got, they’re, they’re generally a prepared people, if we can call ’em that. They are, they’re, they’re, they’re, they’re prepared and they can make something out. Nothing. And if they had to, they’d just grab a gun. Even in the hills east of LA that dev Devin take down a black tail and have it s skin back and feed, feed the neighborhood if they need to.

00:39:59:03 –> 00:40:15:01
That’s probably right too. But they’d wanna be f d a approved by heck. So, Hey Devin, tell me you ever been out in the hills and maybe run outta TP when you had a client in your truck? I mean, anything crazy going on in that little tundra You got there over the years,

00:40:16:29 –> 00:40:26:14
Huh? Oh well, yeah, you learn your lesson. There’s a, there’s a, there’s wipes in a hard case in a custom seat cover case. Wow. Behind my seat. Why?

00:40:26:20 –> 00:40:26:29
Come

00:40:26:29 –> 00:40:27:19
On. Why the

00:40:28:00 –> 00:40:28:22
Speaking of being prepared.

00:40:28:28 –> 00:40:32:19
Why the custom? Probably because why the custom seat cover? Just curious.

00:40:33:23 –> 00:40:36:07
Just dirt, blood, mud, you know, stuff like that.

00:40:36:14 –> 00:40:37:25
Does your, does does your

00:40:37:25 –> 00:40:42:14
Driver’s, so when I ordered them, you can, you can like, cus you can say, Hey, I want a compartment here

00:40:43:01 –> 00:40:43:26
In the pack pouch.

00:40:44:10 –> 00:40:50:13
How about like a 1984 or seven or six samurai or whatever. What is that thing you got?

00:40:51:03 –> 00:40:53:02
Oh, the Samurai? Yeah. Yeah. It’s an 86.

00:40:53:11 –> 00:40:55:26
Did they older custom. They custom seat. Do they make seat covers for that?

00:40:56:22 –> 00:40:57:17
It has seat covers.

00:40:58:07 –> 00:41:02:11
No way. So anyway, so what led up to being so prepared with the wipes?

00:41:04:26 –> 00:41:06:07
Oh, people. My, my,

00:41:07:00 –> 00:41:07:11
Well this

00:41:07:11 –> 00:41:12:22
Is, well when you have, you know, 60% of your shirts are sleeveless, you know, you know you’re not prepared.

00:41:14:03 –> 00:41:20:26
All right. Yep. I I heard that some of the thrift stores. No, I’m, that was, that was a lie. I’m not gonna say that. All right.

00:41:20:28 –> 00:41:21:20
All right. Well it’s

00:41:21:29 –> 00:41:24:14
Having a rash on the t-shirts, but they’re not

00:41:25:03 –> 00:41:31:20
So everything, everything business as usual Devin people are booking hunts and having you research hunts and whatnot.

00:41:32:05 –> 00:41:32:12
Yep.

00:41:33:03 –> 00:41:34:04
How about the photos? Just

00:41:34:04 –> 00:41:37:11
Had one come through for Colorado, Eastern Plains Outfitter, so,

00:41:37:29 –> 00:41:38:06
Wow.

00:41:38:13 –> 00:41:39:12
Yep. Busy, busy.

00:41:39:21 –> 00:42:42:22
Yeah. I do think that there’s gonna be the natural 10, you know, some of the people are gonna, that are gonna pull back slightly or we anticipate maybe some openings. This is obviously just so new right now. It’s not like we’re getting overrun with cancellations and openings yet. We do anticipate some of that to happen. And that is one of the other benefits of being an Epic outdoors member is we’re here, we have a network of outfitters we’ve already know and trust and use year after year after year when they call and tell us, Hey, somebody’s having a hard time coming up up here this year. Whether that’s Canada, which we’ve got the whole set of issues there with the international border being closed there right now. But even on the Western states with tags that have guaranteed tags or people that maybe were penciled in with the points to draw a certain unit or a group of people that they’re gonna back out now. I could see something like that happen in the coming weeks where an outfitter that we thought was completely full, even with draw tag clients with points to draw could change Devin. And you’re staying on top of that basically with, with our outfitters. Yeah.

00:42:42:22 –> 00:42:51:04
Yep. And, and the outfitters we work with are really good at updating. You know, all of us pretty much, you know, we get updates every day.

00:42:51:27 –> 00:42:53:26
Yeah. You got

00:42:53:26 –> 00:42:55:04
Any elk hunts come through?

00:42:55:16 –> 00:43:01:20
You got anything, anything hot out there that’s come through that you feel like, man, that’s a good opportunity. Somebody should be jumping on that.

00:43:02:11 –> 00:43:09:01
Yeah, we got September rifle elk hunts in Utah. Three of them, you know, those have been booked up for years. So

00:43:09:11 –> 00:43:16:06
How much? That just comes through Friday. Do you remember what they do you remember what they come through out? I mean, some, some of those are pricey ’cause they’re, they’re awesome opportunities.

00:43:16:29 –> 00:43:20:20
Yeah, they’re, they’re, they were 15,000 per hunter. Wow. There’s three of them.

00:43:21:06 –> 00:43:31:26
Okay. All right. Well, we’ll let you get back to work. Just, just wanted to alrightyy make sure you were still here in the office. You didn’t, you didn’t run from the virus that came in from Bronson going out to lunch.

00:43:32:24 –> 00:43:34:13
I just, I didn’t get outta the truck. Where’d you? Yeah,

00:43:34:13 –> 00:43:41:22
You I didn’t get outta the truck. Devin, don’t let him fool you. He’s the one that, that laced decon back into our office as we’ve been talking, I haven’t been

00:43:42:14 –> 00:43:45:12
My office and my, and home and quite some fun.

00:43:45:12 –> 00:43:46:08
Pretty much. That’s

00:43:46:08 –> 00:43:54:25
Right. I heard you’re pretty prepared. You had, you had to go home, you had to go check on the cash cash, you had to go back and grab the samurai some cash and some bullets. Is that

00:43:54:25 –> 00:44:00:07
What you Well, we thought we were better off till we cleaned out our expired food from our fridge and then we realized maybe we were in trouble. Really?

00:44:00:07 –> 00:44:03:26
That’s kind of funny. So, you know, they were telling me a story. Bronson, bachelors,

00:44:04:00 –> 00:44:05:05
Bachelor’s and a fridge. He throws

00:44:05:05 –> 00:44:11:14
Away good cheese because it was past the expiration date. And I said, was there mold on it? No, dude, you don’t throw away cheese just,

00:44:11:16 –> 00:44:13:23
Huh? Graded. It was from September

00:44:14:06 –> 00:44:16:06
From like the elk hunt, man. It’s what?

00:44:16:11 –> 00:44:21:06
You can’t, you’d visibly see mold if it was from September, that had to be, well it,

00:44:21:17 –> 00:44:25:07
It was in a shrink wrap. One of those Tillamook sticks, you know, like, you probably would’ve been Okay.

00:44:25:14 –> 00:44:33:19
Oh, the ones with preservatives and MSGs and all that stuff in there with the little meat stick and a cheese next to it. You can’t, that stuff can’t go bad. Come

00:44:33:19 –> 00:44:38:00
On, Devin. Throwing away money. Money don’t grow on trees, Devin. Well,

00:44:38:00 –> 00:44:42:01
When, yeah, when we throw the eggs out and throw ’em in the field and they’re bouncing, like Yeah,

00:44:42:01 –> 00:44:47:14
Tell us that story. So, Chris, I don’t, I don’t know if these were your eggs. Chris, Chris is listening over here, Devin, so Oh

00:44:48:16 –> 00:44:53:02
Yeah, we, we made sure we weren’t throwing ’em on the, on the, on the yard. Chris, don’t worry why he’s got a heck of,

00:44:53:16 –> 00:44:55:13
I don’t know. I got a real nicely manicured yard

00:44:55:26 –> 00:44:56:13
Out, let’s say.

00:44:56:22 –> 00:45:14:19
So what I wanna know is, it’s it’s evening time around the bachelor pad, right? I don’t know if this is before Chris’s parents we’re moving down this way, but what, how do you say, Hey, go get, go to the fridge and grab some eggs, let’s chuck some eggs. How, where does, how do you start that game

00:45:15:25 –> 00:45:17:06
Then? You and WWI are doing

00:45:17:07 –> 00:45:27:01
A little, well, we just took the garbage out and I told w I said, dude, we’re not gonna, we don’t wanna put these eggs in the, they’ll get crushed and leak everywhere, you know? He is like, well, let’s just go chuck ’em out in the, in the field. You know, let’s

00:45:27:01 –> 00:45:28:01
Go feed the racks. We go

00:45:28:01 –> 00:45:36:28
Outside and I throw one of it splats, you know, way out there in the bushes and every one of the, everyone wh through bounced like four feet in the air. I, I don’t, it’s possible, but

00:45:37:12 –> 00:45:44:13
First I’m like, eggs don’t go bad or something. Eggs don’t go bad, I don’t think because they’re in the fridge and bron and they’re tight. Like, I

00:45:44:13 –> 00:45:45:12
Don’t know that

00:45:45:22 –> 00:45:47:22
Oxygen cannot get in there. Like,

00:45:47:25 –> 00:45:53:22
I’m not a doctor. I, I don’t, but I’m not buying it. But say you got a hairline fracture in that, a carter. Oh yeah.

00:45:53:29 –> 00:45:54:07
It’s

00:45:54:07 –> 00:46:01:26
What’s the number one disease that comes from raw eggs? Starts with an Ss, ends with an I, ends with ia. Okay.

00:46:02:08 –> 00:46:02:18
Sound.

00:46:03:13 –> 00:46:04:18
There’s like a four or five.

00:46:04:26 –> 00:46:07:18
I’ve heard. That’s bad juju. I don’t want it,

00:46:07:21 –> 00:46:08:29
It could probably kill the Corona.

00:46:10:07 –> 00:46:18:22
So you see miss a hairline fracture, you let ’em go too long in your fridge and they’re probably about to hatch. I don’t know, I don’t know how old you guys were.

00:46:19:14 –> 00:46:20:20
November, you know what

00:46:21:02 –> 00:46:23:16
Eggs from November and it’s March. Hey.

00:46:23:17 –> 00:46:24:28
Something like that. Well,

00:46:25:09 –> 00:46:28:24
Wyatt does his regular egg routine and eats, eats a pair of them every morning.

00:46:29:03 –> 00:46:35:22
How do you not turn over eggs till for four months. Four months. Is this a dozen or did you guys buy a 12? There was,

00:46:35:22 –> 00:46:36:22
There was a couple. A

00:46:36:22 –> 00:46:41:19
Gross, isn’t it gross? 144 A dozen. Dozen isn’t not a gross or something.

00:46:42:13 –> 00:46:54:25
Oh, well. All right. We’re just wondering how things you got, you and Wyatt are still planning on going to Alaska. You guys don’t have the Corona fear, do you? You’re you’re still going up there on your moose hunt?

00:46:55:13 –> 00:46:58:17
Oh yeah, I sure hope so. Planning on it.

00:46:58:18 –> 00:47:11:16
Well, it’ll, I’m sure by summer they’re saying the experts at least that the, the heat will start to reduce the life longevity of this virus outside of, you know, cold and all that. But, you know,

00:47:11:16 –> 00:47:14:26
We did have a guy ask me if he, if I thought the deer would get the Corona.

00:47:15:15 –> 00:47:16:19
You did not. Yeah, I did.

00:47:17:03 –> 00:47:28:06
Yeah. Yeah. He says, Hey, do you think the deer will contract this coronavirus? And they’ll have issues? And I’m like, I don’t know. We might need to make some ventilators for these deer. You

00:47:28:06 –> 00:47:33:12
Know, we should get a vet in here on the podcast and answer that question. We should, we know one. We should, we should we call him? Right.

00:47:34:18 –> 00:47:47:10
Okay, guys. All right. Devin, keep at it. Back to it. Keep at it. All right. See, I was wondering, should we call my, just call my wife and not even, not even tell her she’s on the podcast. That’s just, see if she’s happy to be married to a hunter at this

00:47:47:14 –> 00:47:53:04
Point’s. I guess Chris can edit whatever she answers the phone as, because who knows where this is going.

00:47:53:24 –> 00:47:54:20
I don’t know where it’ll go. It’s up

00:47:54:20 –> 00:47:57:12
To you. This is your idea. I wanna be on the record. This is your idea. Hello.

00:47:58:08 –> 00:47:59:12
Hey babe, how are you?

00:47:59:29 –> 00:48:00:20
Good, how are you?

00:48:01:11 –> 00:48:16:02
I’m dad. Good. Hey, I was just wondering, with all this Corona scare, if you’re, if you’re all these memes about hunters and stuff, if you’re truly happy you’re married to a hunter now, like, don’t you think it’s kind of nice? Why

00:48:16:02 –> 00:48:17:05
Are you calling me to ask me that?

00:48:17:24 –> 00:48:25:08
Well, just wondered if you think it’s, if you think it, if you think it’s kind of nice, it’s something can go out and kill stuff and bring it home, you know, go out and, well,

00:48:25:08 –> 00:48:27:26
I’ve always thought that before I even met you. I thought that,

00:48:28:07 –> 00:48:28:18
Did you?

00:48:29:05 –> 00:48:29:13
Yeah.

00:48:29:25 –> 00:48:30:28
Is that what sealed the deal?

00:48:32:10 –> 00:48:32:17
No.

00:48:32:28 –> 00:48:33:29
Oh, wow.

00:48:34:07 –> 00:48:35:04
What sealed the deal?

00:48:37:04 –> 00:48:40:10
We’re innocent bystanders. Chris and I, Jan, I just want you to know that. Yeah.

00:48:40:11 –> 00:48:42:14
I got a feeling that you’re podcasting this.

00:48:45:04 –> 00:48:49:24
I just want it on record that you’re happy that I hunt. Yes. He’s, this is

00:48:50:05 –> 00:48:51:29
Entrapment. He’s entrapping you

00:48:52:18 –> 00:48:59:24
Sufficiently to provide food for the family. Now, all the recreational hunting you do, you probably don’t wanna take that up in public.

00:49:02:18 –> 00:49:05:06
It’s the most expensive. It’s best fine line

00:49:05:06 –> 00:49:05:22
To protein.

00:49:05:29 –> 00:49:08:19
I know for our family, nothing but the best for our family. I could have lobster

00:49:09:11 –> 00:49:12:24
And shrimp and fine dining for the cost of

00:49:12:24 –> 00:49:15:10
Hunting, but those might have coronavirus. You never know.

00:49:16:02 –> 00:49:18:00
Is that the one you’re talking about? Yeah,

00:49:18:00 –> 00:49:18:20
There was one. So

00:49:18:20 –> 00:49:25:00
We’re narrowing it down now to just the last few weeks and whatever the future of Corona brings. Well,

00:49:25:21 –> 00:49:26:22
It just was on my mind.

00:49:26:25 –> 00:49:30:12
You’re trying to put our whole life into those few weeks.

00:49:30:22 –> 00:49:36:23
I think we’re, I think we’re good. We’ll see you later, babe. Goodbye. Look.

00:49:36:24 –> 00:49:38:05
Whoa, Chris,

00:49:38:24 –> 00:49:44:11
That was abrupt. I don’t carter. You better. That’s not, you didn’t like the way it was going. It was very,

00:49:44:13 –> 00:49:45:13
Very abrupt. Oh,

00:49:46:08 –> 00:49:47:20
All right. Well, well this was,

00:49:47:20 –> 00:50:00:28
This was the meme I think you’re referring to Jason. It’s, and many of you have seen this, it says, women are now looking at their boyfriends or men and wondering if that fool can hunt, make a fire fight, et cetera. And now you’re just second guessing them skinny jeans.

00:50:01:08 –> 00:50:05:29
So, well, and that, I don’t know what women think. Well, I mean, it’s gotta cross their mind.

00:50:06:13 –> 00:50:12:00
I don’t know. I don’t, yeah. You know, you want a provider. We all think about it. Think about it. Crazy

00:50:12:00 –> 00:50:12:22
Times ahead of us

00:50:12:23 –> 00:50:47:04
In the animal world. Okay. And in, in situations where animals create mates, you know, they’re not, you know, they’re not. No. What I mean by that is they have pears. Yeah. Deer is not this, they don’t stick around and raise their fawns. But, but we talk about wolves or we talk about, you know, in some cases lions or different things that pride’s a lion. What is the, their job? They’re the provider. Yeah. And what are the females selecting for naturally? The provider. The strongest, the fittest. The ones that brings meat. That’s right. That’s animalistic.

00:50:47:05 –> 00:50:49:05
He owns a place. It’s animalistic. He owns a place.

00:50:49:05 –> 00:50:52:13
Yeah. That can protect, defend, and provide. That’s

00:50:52:13 –> 00:50:53:18
Right. Right. Yeah. That’s right.

00:50:53:21 –> 00:50:56:01
That’s coming out right now. I think

00:50:56:01 –> 00:50:57:06
It would be Wouldn’t you like if you

00:50:57:06 –> 00:51:06:28
Were, it’s natural. Well, well we’re all cave men. I I mean, at some point it’s, you gotta be able to kill and make a fire and eat. Yeah. And survive in the cave. Get outta the elements. Provide a

00:51:06:28 –> 00:51:13:17
Shelter. A little lady. You’d want somebody that could do that, wouldn’t you? Huh? Chris? No. What do

00:51:13:17 –> 00:51:15:07
You think? Chris has been silent, really quiet right now. I

00:51:15:07 –> 00:51:16:06
Picked the one that could hunt for me.

00:51:16:16 –> 00:51:17:07
Oh yeah,

00:51:17:20 –> 00:51:19:10
She is. She’s a keeper. Yes.

00:51:19:19 –> 00:51:19:25
In

00:51:19:25 –> 00:51:24:12
Fact, Chris, I don’t know. We should go down these roads. Let’s go down, let’s go down this road.

00:51:24:24 –> 00:51:25:19
I shouldn’t have said anything.

00:51:26:15 –> 00:51:27:26
Whose gun did you use?

00:51:28:12 –> 00:51:31:02
I used my girlfriend’s gun to kill my elk. This was

00:51:31:02 –> 00:51:34:20
In New Mexico? Yeah, a year or two ago. I don’t remember which year it

00:51:34:20 –> 00:51:37:29
Was, but she ha did she have it set up right? She knew ballistics drop she

00:51:38:11 –> 00:51:42:05
To she’s telling you over the head, Hey, two minutes, two, 2.4,

00:51:42:16 –> 00:51:50:23
Whatever. Yeah, it was all set up. And then what happened is I got out there with, with my gun and I had a new range finder, right? Yeah. First time

00:51:50:23 –> 00:51:52:04
I, my most cardinal sins. Yeah.

00:51:52:06 –> 00:51:58:28
First time I actually had her pick up the rangefinder as I was, as she was coming out to the hunt. So, okay. Brand new rangefinder. I could go

00:51:58:28 –> 00:52:00:02
Wrong with that. Yeah.

00:52:01:01 –> 00:52:01:10
Well,

00:52:01:16 –> 00:52:02:26
I don’t know, Bronson, you had one of those.

00:52:03:29 –> 00:52:06:18
It was brand new. Brand new. And I got a brand new one. Brand

00:52:06:18 –> 00:52:10:11
New Sig, which they’re pretty dang good range finders. That one wasn’t

00:52:11:05 –> 00:52:13:01
Caused some anxiety. Anyway, go ahead.

00:52:13:03 –> 00:52:35:07
So we get out there doing the couple days before the hunt was, was to start and I hit my range and shot and my gun was not even close. And we spent a bunch of time messing with it. And I just, at a certain point we were like, yeah, let’s just focus on scouting instead of trying to figure a gun out. And so ended up using her gun.

00:52:36:03 –> 00:52:36:10
Wow.

00:52:38:02 –> 00:52:38:08
Wow.

00:52:38:20 –> 00:52:40:10
Huh. Well, she’s awesome. That

00:52:40:10 –> 00:52:41:08
Doesn’t happen every day. Stop there.

00:52:41:17 –> 00:52:52:28
Awesome dude. Hey, hey. Well I don’t, well, alright, I’m not gonna go down that road, but let’s go down this road. Let’s give a pair. Pair of Diamondbacks away. Vortex. Good road to go

00:52:52:28 –> 00:52:53:06
Down, huh?

00:52:53:18 –> 00:52:55:23
Kind of similar road that I was headed down.

00:52:55:29 –> 00:53:05:26
The last podcast we, we did, we gave away, well, stealth cam and we’re just in the giving mood. I don’t know, maybe it’s just, I dunno. It caused a little excitement. Little frenzy. There’s gonna

00:53:05:26 –> 00:53:06:11
Be more of this

00:53:06:11 –> 00:53:14:16
Stories. We get a lot of texts and emails right now. People are kind of cooped up and they’re begging for like seven podcasts a week. And we’re sorry. We just can’t do that. But, so

00:53:14:16 –> 00:53:18:08
If you’re not scared of us giving you the Corona and sending this to you in the mail,

00:53:18:13 –> 00:53:19:29
It’s in a sealed shrink wrap.

00:53:20:11 –> 00:53:23:29
It is. Just wear rubber gloves when you take off the wrap. You never know

00:53:24:07 –> 00:53:25:13
What do we, what do we got? What?

00:53:26:01 –> 00:53:46:11
Ations Diamondbacks, the 10 by 42 Binos. The hds. And we appreciate Vortex. They dropped ’em off here at the office, said, Hey, throw these out on the podcast. So there you go. Vortex, we appreciate you. They support us here at Epic. We support them as well. They make some fine products. Lot more of this coming at you. Just a little hint, hint. Yeah.

00:53:46:15 –> 00:53:47:19
What are you, what are we gonna do?

00:53:48:05 –> 00:54:24:28
Alright, we’re gonna do the same thing that we did last week on the trail camera. What you gotta do is, if you’re listening to this podcast right now on your phone, take a screenshot and post that to either your story or a regular post in Instagram or Facebook and tag us at epic hunts. And if you don’t know how to screenshot or do any of that, you can also just take a photo, take a selfie of yourself listening to the podcast, or take a picture of the screen of the podcast where if you’re listening in your truck, take a picture of the truck screen, whatever, post that and you’ll be entered to win. Wow. And wow. We’re gonna give ’em, let’s give ’em a few days here. What

00:54:24:28 –> 00:54:27:18
Day you wanna do that? Let’s do that on a, we need

00:54:27:18 –> 00:54:30:22
To, the deadline will be 11:59 PM on April 3rd.

00:54:30:26 –> 00:54:45:26
It’s on the books. Be awesome. I wonder if we should just, should we, should we try our little, our vortex friend and just see if they have anything coming out this year. Throw him out, huh? Little shout out to Vortex. Let, let’s give him a holler. See what he’s doing today. Who knows

00:54:45:28 –> 00:54:46:29
Better? Say we’re live.

00:54:47:21 –> 00:54:49:07
Go ahead. I’ll let you start this off. No,

00:54:49:07 –> 00:54:52:22
Just send, come in from your phone. He’s not gonna know who. All right. Matched voice

00:54:52:22 –> 00:54:57:19
Doesn’t match. This is Paul. Paul, Jason Carter. Adam bro. An Epic Outdoors podcast. How you doing?

00:54:58:06 –> 00:54:59:04
Good. How are you guys doing?

00:54:59:15 –> 00:55:06:00
Good, man. Good. Just trying to avoid getting the Corona here. Quarantine in the Epic office. How are you?

00:55:07:07 –> 00:55:08:13
I’m doing the same.

00:55:08:20 –> 00:55:13:18
You hunkered Getting some work done still, Paul, you know, you’re a busy guy all over. Hell yeah. We’re

00:55:13:29 –> 00:55:15:06
We’re getting a little bit done.

00:55:16:20 –> 00:55:52:18
Well, as much as you can with, with what, what things are placed upon us all. But we just, we announced we’re gonna give away a pair of Diamondback 10 by 40 twos that you were helpful in helping us get, we just announced that we’re gonna announce it on this podcast. But just very good to give you a quick call. Cold Turkey. Of course you haven’t even scripted any of this, but anything on the front of vortex wise, that’s kind of the buzz you want to give some listeners interest in. Should they wanna, should they want to talk about products or bino scopes, whatever, that’s kind of new and hot right now. The new

00:55:52:18 –> 00:55:53:24
Stuff coming out. Anything,

00:55:54:14 –> 00:56:08:17
You know, well we, we just released that new three to 15 light hundred tactical. That’s a, that’s a sweet scope. It’ll be a big deal for you guys out west that are, you know, wanna stretch their effective range out there.

00:56:10:09 –> 00:56:16:08
What’s a, what’s what part of it is, is new and exciting about it? Like give us just a quick rundown.

00:56:16:27 –> 00:56:31:22
Yeah. So 30 millimeter tube, great glass in it. It’s got a locking elevation turn on it. You can set a zero stop. It’s got a side illumination button on it. Oh yeah. Just a,

00:56:31:28 –> 00:56:40:18
So the zero stop’s nice. Because you, you, you, you know, you know where you come back where zero is where back in the day, you just keep on twist. Twisting,

00:56:40:18 –> 00:56:42:04
You could be a revolution off and you’re

00:56:42:05 –> 00:56:43:18
Way outta a problem. Yeah. Yeah. So

00:56:43:18 –> 00:56:51:11
You don’t have to worry about that anymore. And then, then where that elevation chart, it locks. You don’t have to worry about it, you know, getting bumped in your backpack or

00:56:52:01 –> 00:56:53:16
Oh, nice. What that locking feature,

00:56:53:23 –> 00:56:57:10
And you said the magnification was three to 16. What was the objective on it? It’s,

00:56:57:10 –> 00:57:08:17
It’s, so it’s a three to 15 by 42 or you can also get it in a three to 15 by 50. Okay. A little more light. Got extremely, really lightweight scope just comes in a little over 19 ounces.

00:57:08:21 –> 00:57:11:26
Dude, that’s really light. I thought 22 was light.

00:57:12:11 –> 00:57:14:07
Yeah, no, it’s, it’s super lightweight.

00:57:14:27 –> 00:57:18:23
Yeah, that’s great. Without probably work for a muzzle or scope too, huh?

00:57:19:21 –> 00:57:20:07
You bet.

00:57:20:21 –> 00:57:25:08
Wow. Yeah, ’cause muzzle loaders are already 14 pounds heavy. You know, you need to shave all you can get.

00:57:26:00 –> 00:57:27:06
I know. They’re so heavy,

00:57:27:19 –> 00:57:37:01
But, well, that’s awesome. What about anything else, Paul, that I think you did tip Jason, I off about that one. That’s one. Those are available and ready now then no scopes. Yeah.

00:57:37:04 –> 00:57:41:10
Yep, yep, yep. They’re starting to show up and out in stores all over the place.

00:57:42:03 –> 00:57:49:12
Good. Well we did get our hands on some of the, the 18 by 56 U H D vinyls.

00:57:49:12 –> 00:57:50:10
Pretty, pretty impressive.

00:57:50:14 –> 00:57:51:25
Very impressive. Yeah. I’m glad

00:57:51:25 –> 00:57:54:05
You glad you got guys like him there. Yeah.

00:57:54:09 –> 00:57:54:26
The real deal,

00:57:55:03 –> 00:58:03:00
The 18 power gives you a little little edge on some of the standard fifteens that some competing brands are out there with. And so

00:58:03:07 –> 00:58:05:05
The glass is sharp. Pretty

00:58:05:05 –> 00:58:05:22
Impressive.

00:58:06:08 –> 00:58:14:00
It it is, it is very impressed by that. That’s a newer product. Right Paul? Those have been fairly popular since their launch, I would assume. Yeah, we watched those.

00:58:14:20 –> 00:58:21:05
Yeah, the LA right before hunting season last year, they started to hit the market and yeah, guys, guys love

00:58:21:08 –> 00:58:45:07
’em. Good buddy of ours was hunting avelina in Arizona and hit him and his brother were sharing a pair. And anyway, I said, why don’t you come on down and, you know, grab a, grab one of these pairs. Of course we got from, from you guys. And anyway, he, he said by far, he said, against any other 15 we have, he said, we chose these. So pretty impressed. Pretty impressive.

00:58:45:21 –> 00:58:46:00
Nice.

00:58:47:01 –> 00:58:53:01
Well we just wanted to drop in unannounced. Glad you even took our call and weren’t screening it too much, but

00:58:53:09 –> 00:59:00:11
Glad we caught you in the office. Never know what you might be doing on a Friday, you know? No, yeah, no. Trying to have family time. Who knows. So should

00:59:00:11 –> 00:59:02:23
Be looking for some sheds and social distancing.

00:59:02:26 –> 00:59:09:10
That’s right. Well down here they’re getting covered up with snow, so I don’t know where you’re at in the world today, but we’re trying to just watch it snowing. Don’t go

00:59:09:10 –> 00:59:16:19
To Nevada till May 1st. They’ll put you in jail for ING over there. At least in the good counties. Yeah. Alright. Kay. We appreciate you.

00:59:16:19 –> 00:59:19:19
Thanks Paul. Okay. You bet. Have a good day. Stay safe, everyone have a good weekend.

00:59:19:21 –> 00:59:26:18
You bet. You too. See? Yep. Bye. Hope he stays corona free. He’s a good dude. All right.

00:59:27:01 –> 00:59:29:16
What else we’re, we’ve bounced around a few.

00:59:29:28 –> 00:59:33:17
I thinked out a podcast. I don’t know, do we need to wrap this thing up a little bit? Yeah. We’re, we’re

00:59:33:17 –> 00:59:34:22
Over an hour now. Are we really?

00:59:34:26 –> 01:00:10:05
They say, you know, when we first came out with these podcasts, people said, you know what, you shouldn’t be going over 20 minutes. That’s people’s attention span. And then we get guys that say, dude, you can’t give us enough, by the way, just wanna throw a little shout out. There’s a cop in LA that hit us and said, man, you know, the roads are empty. I listen to all kinds of podcasts. You guys can’t do enough of ’em. And anyway, I just want to throw a little shout out. He’ll probably listen to this podcast and give him a smile. But anyway, shout out to you guys that are faithful listeners out there. We, we love our officers, man. You guys are awesome out there in the line of duty. Don’t give us

01:00:10:05 –> 01:00:17:11
Some confidence. We’re all here to, you know, get along, stay along, stay, get along and stay along, I guess. And I

01:00:17:11 –> 01:00:39:07
Challenge you guys to let the next person go, right? Don’t harass him too hard. I got a couple of my buddies that are cops here in Cedar, and I’ll go into the Maverick course. We’d all die if Maverick didn’t serve sandwiches, right? And so I’m like, what? You know, just quit harassing people, you know? Let the next person go. I don’t know. They get my wife every time. So give her a ticket.

01:00:39:18 –> 01:00:59:08
Well, stay safe. Have a great weekend and week as we close out. March here. It’s hard to believe almost April 1st. Hopefully this, this stuff passes sooner than later. Be safe. We’re here. We’re doing business. Like we said. We send an email out to all of our membership. We’re here. We’re here to consult. We’re here to help you. Plan. We’re applying, applying and applying.

01:01:00:00 –> 01:01:00:26
Stay Corona free.
