On the Trail of a Monster with Jeffrey Row. In this episode of The Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk with Jeffrey Row, a full time guide and an avid hunter himself. Jeff is featured on our June issue cover with his Giant Arizona Mule Deer. Jeff walks us through the process of drawing a coveted tag, scouting, and harvesting a monster with a bow. We also make some calls to Utah and Nevada to check on the draw process.

00:00:01:24 –> 00:00:05:09
He is staring a hole right through me. I’m clipped on. I’m ready to draw. I just can’t.

00:00:05:11 –> 00:00:08:00
We’re waiting for our credit cards to be hit in Utah.

00:00:08:08 –> 00:00:12:10
Hello. You have reached the Utah Wildlife Administrative Services Office.

00:00:13:03 –> 00:00:14:11
Anything to do with Western Big Games.

00:00:17:20 –> 00:00:18:05
Welcome

00:00:18:05 –> 00:00:21:09
To the Epic Outdoors Podcast, powered by Under Armour.

00:00:22:03 –> 00:00:32:16
Hey everybody. Jason Carter. Adam Bronson coming at you from Windy Southern Utah. At least it’s gotten a little warmer down here. Hopefully you’re feeling the same. Feels like summer’s here. Bronson got some sunshine out there.

00:00:33:16 –> 00:00:41:10
Sure does. We have had very little wind, so we’ve been spoiled, but now we’ve had it the last couple of days. So this is normal Southern Utah. Spring weather.

00:00:41:20 –> 00:00:45:29
Yeah, it feels good. It feels really good, huh? Corona environment out there.

00:00:46:29 –> 00:00:50:02
No below that. Below those pathogens to

00:00:50:16 –> 00:00:52:02
Somewhere else besides here. Arctic

00:00:52:02 –> 00:00:53:16
Circle. I don’t know. Head north. All

00:00:53:16 –> 00:01:13:11
Right, let’s talk about some big deer. Before we get started. We’d like to think Under Armour sponsoring this podcast. It’s 4:00 PM We’re a little tired. Rummy grabbed a monster. First. Monster you’ve had in about eight days. Bronson, how do you feel? Fell off the wagon or jumped on? I don’t know what, what is it? I don’t know. Just who knows whats

00:01:13:15 –> 00:01:13:27
One today?

00:01:13:27 –> 00:01:35:08
Yeah. Wanna, let’s pass by that and pretend it didn’t happen. Sure. Our June July issue covered Arizona, of course. We’ve already talked about it. We’re gonna talk about it again on the covers. Jeff Rowe, which freaking monster Buck. He’s been involved in some great bucks in Arizona, as well as Nevada Guides over there for Greg Kro, who? Bronson, we’re giving all hunt away.

00:01:35:28 –> 00:02:02:21
Absolutely. Yeah. By June 19th. If you want to enter, you can join Epic Outdoors by June 19th. Or refer somebody that joins our service by June 19th. Or simply purchase tickets for that hunt. It’s a 2 31 landowner. Tag it. Choose your season. Fully guided by Greg Krogue and his team, Mo Young Rim Outfitters seven day fully outfitted hunt. So super awesome. It’s gonna be awesome.

00:02:02:28 –> 00:03:10:04
It’s gonna be awesome. We’re super excited about that. Of course, we tried to pick the hunts here in the lower 48, just with the travel restrictions. Who knows what’s gonna happen out there. We’re hearing mixed reviews of what’s gonna happen. A little bit nervous about Canada at the moment for this particular year. Next year should be all good. But anyway, this year it’s a little rough up there as far as crossing country boundaries. Hopefully Alaska will be just fine. Anyway. Alright, so we’re gonna call Jeff Rowe. We’re gonna quiz the crap out of this guy. Pull all the knowledge we can out of him, see what he has to say. Anything else before we get after it? Let’s do it. We got John here. John, how you doing? I’m doing good. We got Chris’s brother, John, anybody out there that knows John and Chris. They’re brothers. They, they’re responsible for the development of the wazoo publication Epic Outdoors that we produce every month, December through June. Bimonthly John Muir. Slower season, as well as our slower season, if you could call it that is upon us. How do you feel? Couldn’t be more excited. Yeah. Just

00:03:10:04 –> 00:03:14:10
Waiting for the rest of the draws to come out. That’s right. I can’t wait to get in the field. Oh,

00:03:14:20 –> 00:03:23:23
It’ll be awesome. It’s one thing about our designers, we’re pretty fortunate, Bronson, that they don’t just do good work in the office. They, they’re hunters too. And they understand it makes

00:03:23:24 –> 00:03:39:08
A difference. Makes a difference when you’re trying to make a hunt magazine look and feel a certain way instead of just getting words and pictures on paper and calling it a day. So yeah, that’s for sure. They definitely have a talent to it, Chris and John. So it’s awesome

00:03:39:17 –> 00:03:50:18
Enough about them. Called Jeff. Let’s talk, let’s talk about Jeff Row and his giant deer and what he can give us as far as information on how to kill a giant deer for ourselves. Didn’t

00:03:50:18 –> 00:03:53:14
You tell me that your thumb opened the other day with a bandaid over? Well,

00:03:53:14 –> 00:04:11:11
Yeah. So we, I go to open my phone and it, and here I’ll just show you. I’m gonna lock it. It’s supposed to, it just a little bit of my thumbprint on the very end. Okay. This is the same nail that got ripped off by my dog. Right. A little bit of that thumbprint and part of the bandaid will open this phone. Makes

00:04:11:11 –> 00:04:15:11
You feel real safe about your secure stuff on your phone.

00:04:15:13 –> 00:04:31:02
Ah, didn’t work that time. So I feel better about my phone. You leave it in a stall, you know Gomer pile ain’t gonna be able to open it, but it did the other day. I showed, I showed you and it did with my bandaid on. Huh? Thumbprint didn’t work that day. Let’s call Jeff, see what he has to say. A

00:04:33:23 –> 00:04:34:04
Howdy.

00:04:34:23 –> 00:04:35:27
What’s going on down there,

00:04:37:10 –> 00:04:40:02
Dude? Just dealing with this coronavirus stuff.

00:04:40:11 –> 00:04:46:14
Come on. Are y’all, did you decide you could take your mask off for this podcast or what are you doing?

00:04:49:15 –> 00:04:51:00
I’m not, I’m not, I’m not that guy.

00:04:53:08 –> 00:05:06:06
Well, I haven’t worn a mask yet, except for I did go to California and even through the drive-throughs, they will not serve you unless you have a mask on. So I was searching, rip off a sleeve or the top end of my sock or something. No, no, I’m not. What

00:05:06:06 –> 00:05:06:29
Were you doing in California?

00:05:07:09 –> 00:05:18:09
Oh, I just delivering a part to a buddy and just making a round trip smash and grab trip down there and ended up having to eat something somewhere. Yeah. Didn’t realize you had to have a mask on, so

00:05:18:20 –> 00:05:19:20
That’s ridiculous.

00:05:20:11 –> 00:05:21:16
You haven’t masked up yet?

00:05:22:13 –> 00:05:26:27
No, no I haven’t. No. I’m, I breathe in too much dust to do that.

00:05:29:12 –> 00:05:55:29
Well, hey, this is Adam. We’re glad to have you on here today, Jeff and oh, we’re, appreciate it that you were able to put a story together for us of your awesome Arizona strip buck last year. And so wanted to get into that. But obviously wanna, maybe just for some of our listeners that maybe don’t know you and some of your background, let’s dive into a little bit of that, starting off about where you’re from and if you’ve always been from there and whatnot. All right. And things like that.

00:05:56:26 –> 00:06:06:20
All right. Well I was born and raised in San Diego, California up until I was 11. And surfer.

00:06:06:20 –> 00:06:07:13
Are you a surfer?

00:06:07:13 –> 00:06:10:04
That’s No. A fisher Fisher loves.

00:06:10:05 –> 00:06:22:18
Okay. So that’s where we’re seeing you on these boats all the time on your Instagram is you’re out fishing. And I didn’t know if that was just a client that liked you to come along or if that’s part, partly your business or how that played

00:06:22:18 –> 00:07:14:10
In No, it’s none of my business. It’s what I grew up doing. Like my dad, he, he, he owned a boat and all that good stuff in California and we fished a lot offshore fishing. So it’s always been my bloodline. And the reason we moved to Arizona is ’cause he would hunt the kibab every year. It used to be over the counter archery back in the day. He would hunt it every year and he would drive through Prescott, Arizona. And he liked it in Prescott when he would pass through, probably stop at McDonald’s or whatever. And one year he is like, Hey, we’re moving to Arizona. And obviously I did not like it being 11 years old, leaving all my friends. But now I, I love it. I mean, not in just now, but in the past 10 years I just, I just love it in Arizona. Wouldn’t want any, any other way.

00:07:15:00 –> 00:07:28:09
So what does your, does your dad still travel? Like I, it’s just kind of different. I’m gonna up and move to Arizona, not necessarily work in Arizona, go back and fish for work or, you know, how’d that play out with, just ’cause you liked, he liked Arizona and that was No,

00:07:28:11 –> 00:08:12:29
He, he was a superintendent for a big drywall company in California. Like they built a lot of hospitals and stuff like that. Okay. And they have another branch in Phoenix and he, he worked down in Phoenix for a few year, not even a few years, I think a few months. And then after that he, he quit that was tired of doing all that stuff and did handyman stuff for a while and then became a hunting guide and then, which I kind of followed those tracks now he, he now he doesn’t guy anymore. He’s, he’s kind of just chasing his own, his own deal with bowling. He, he’s been bowling for 30 years and really competitive in that, doing that

00:08:12:29 –> 00:08:15:04
Bowling. Like with bowling balls? Yeah,

00:08:15:04 –> 00:08:15:23
With bowling

00:08:15:23 –> 00:08:37:23
Balls. Like, like competing moneywise. I just, yeah. Carter, what else? Come on. Yeah. What other, well, bowling for money. Bronson, I don’t know many guys that bowl for money. You’d be like bowling with a bowling ball. Bowling. Like what other kinds of bowling are there? Like usually I do that on a family activity. Like I don’t, I don’t, I don’t, there’s money in it bro. What you would do. Okay. Professional bowling. Tell us about it. Pro

00:08:37:25 –> 00:08:54:17
Profession, professional. Wow. Yeah, he does a lot of the, the P B A, the senior, I’m not sure if it’s a tour. I know he goes to Vegas all the time and he’s like flown out to New Orleans and geez, back east a little bit. And

00:08:54:24 –> 00:08:57:29
Yeah, they’re occasionally on E S P N. I’ve seen those. There’s,

00:08:58:14 –> 00:09:00:07
There’s money in everything John. Every sport.

00:09:00:25 –> 00:09:01:20
Yeah, you can bowl

00:09:01:20 –> 00:09:04:24
Of 300. You can bowl of 300. You’ll get, you’ll get paid to do it.

00:09:05:12 –> 00:09:06:26
I guess if you’re passionate about something you can

00:09:07:07 –> 00:09:07:14
A lot

00:09:07:21 –> 00:09:17:10
Do it. Yeah. If you’re passionate and you’re good. I always said find something you’re really good at and become so good that people pay you to do it. And I guess Exactly.

00:09:17:11 –> 00:09:17:25
There you are.

00:09:18:14 –> 00:09:18:25
So do you.

00:09:18:25 –> 00:09:29:19
Exactly. He’ll probably he’ll probably get born in a few years and then he’ll probably move down to Mexico. Yeah. Probably Cabo or Loretto or something like that. And bio and boat and go fishing down there and live down there.

00:09:30:09 –> 00:09:34:23
Is he that kind of guy? Kind of a gypsy soul, just willing to up and go.

00:09:38:01 –> 00:09:40:07
The more he gets up in age, the more I think so.

00:09:42:04 –> 00:09:47:08
So do you still live in Prescott? Where have you settled and put started? I guess putting your roots down. Are you still in Prescott Valley?

00:09:48:06 –> 00:09:59:16
Yeah, I’m still in Prescott Valley. My fiance and I just got a home and she’d be getting married here in September. We were gonna get married in June. Yeah. Don’t move me

00:09:59:24 –> 00:10:02:18
September’s a row. That’s a wow. Well

00:10:02:18 –> 00:10:04:25
That’s an IQ test. Yeah, that’s an IQ. Test

00:10:05:21 –> 00:10:07:20
One man to another 100 to another.

00:10:08:17 –> 00:10:12:08
Avoid September. You guys are, I dunno,

00:10:12:29 –> 00:10:14:20
Trust me. I get it. You’ve already

00:10:14:20 –> 00:10:14:28
Lost.

00:10:15:11 –> 00:10:16:25
You’ve already lost that little battle.

00:10:17:17 –> 00:10:22:13
It wasn’t even about that. It’s just Corona deal. Oh, we were supposed to get married June 6th and

00:10:23:02 –> 00:10:25:10
Vegas shut down and you couldn’t do a drive through. What?

00:10:27:19 –> 00:10:32:23
At this point? At this point, that’s what it’s gonna be. Might as well just go to the courthouse and do it.

00:10:33:05 –> 00:10:34:29
Get take off your mask to kiss the bride.

00:10:37:08 –> 00:10:37:17
Well,

00:10:37:27 –> 00:10:40:08
Is the house in her name or your name? That’s all I want to know

00:10:41:10 –> 00:10:44:05
In her right now. I’m marrying, I’m marrying up. Yeah,

00:10:44:05 –> 00:10:46:18
If it’s in her name, then you’re getting married in September.

00:10:49:15 –> 00:10:50:04
She’s the boss.

00:10:50:19 –> 00:10:51:06
Well buddy.

00:10:51:19 –> 00:10:56:25
Well, all right, so Arizona’s home. You’ve been there for a decade or more obviously now and

00:10:57:15 –> 00:10:58:20
15 years or so.

00:10:59:25 –> 00:11:13:12
Gotcha. So did you hunt prior to your dad bringing you to Arizona? Obviously that was about the time, you know, 12 ish or so that you can legally start in Arizona. So was that, did you start hunting in Arizona basically then, huh? Or did you do

00:11:13:23 –> 00:11:36:19
Yeah. Yeah. Pretty much. Like my dad sacrificed a lot of his time to like not be successful taking me with him. I mean, when you’re hunt with your bow on the, that was the first time I was ever up there and he just dragged us around and he’d take us on still hunts. And knowing what I do know now or what I know now, it’s pretty unrealistic. Yeah.

00:11:36:23 –> 00:11:47:00
Picture you. Yeah. Picture, picture you still kid. Yeah. As a guide. And you’ve got, you know, 10, 8, 10 year olds falling behind you as you’re trying to kill your client. A buck with a boat.

00:11:47:08 –> 00:11:52:17
Guiding your kids is the hardest, toughest client ever. And the most unappreciative.

00:11:54:15 –> 00:12:03:18
Exactly. I, I did not appreciate it then. But now I think back on it, I’m like, man, he sacrificed a lot. Oh

00:12:03:18 –> 00:12:12:06
Yeah. My dad used to take me to the kibab, sit me in a tree stand and say I’ll be back in 24 hours. No, wasn’t that long. But it was daylight till dark, I promise you that. No,

00:12:12:06 –> 00:12:14:02
He, he did that the next year. Did

00:12:14:02 –> 00:12:15:23
He? Wow. Sat you in a tree stand. Oh

00:12:15:23 –> 00:12:16:20
Yeah. Yeah, for sure.

00:12:17:06 –> 00:12:17:20
Awesome.

00:12:18:03 –> 00:12:26:25
So that’s where you cut your teeth on mule deer and then that’s pretty much started getting, got bit pretty hard and bit by bit just, yeah, I

00:12:26:25 –> 00:12:44:12
Was going, it was, I was doing a lot of stuff. I mean a lot of bicycle riding and stuff that’s like what I love doing. And then like once I got into high school, it was like, I don’t know, the meal deer bug. I just loved, well not even meal deer, it was just hunting. I just loved going hunting and hanging out with my dad and stuff like that. So

00:12:46:20 –> 00:12:56:08
Are we talking now back to the bicycle riding? We’re talking like kind of down those professional roads? Or is it just more like just, I don’t know, I wanna know who this kid is. Come on. Hold on.

00:12:56:09 –> 00:13:00:25
There’s only one. I thought it was, there’s only one thing bicycle riding. There’s no, it’s kind,

00:13:00:25 –> 00:13:05:13
There’s, there’s only one thing. There’s B M X, there’s all kinds of stuff. Oh, just what’d

00:13:05:13 –> 00:13:13:08
You do? It was B M X. Like I used to go like to back flip a bike and stuff like that. Like I thought it was, what’s that? Back, back

00:13:13:08 –> 00:13:15:18
Flips. Oh, backflip. So you’re talking,

00:13:16:10 –> 00:13:17:23
He’s talking professional. Wow.

00:13:18:05 –> 00:13:19:00
Yeah. Dang.

00:13:19:28 –> 00:13:20:23
Yeah. Did you ever

00:13:20:23 –> 00:13:22:01
Break your, did you ever break your neck?

00:13:23:03 –> 00:13:29:04
No, I broke a lot of other stuff. It’s not my neck. I’ve never broken anything. Riding bicycles, riding dirt bikes. On the other hand,

00:13:30:24 –> 00:13:35:24
You guys power sports. You guys have done a little everything. That’s awesome. Yeah. So you got cranking into hunting.

00:13:36:02 –> 00:13:48:29
Yeah. And that’s how I kind of, you know, my dad kind of sat me down one day in high school. I said, well what are you gonna like, what are you gonna do? I don’t know what kind of questions that, you know,

00:13:49:04 –> 00:13:51:16
Ride my bike a bull a little bit, maybe fish on the side.

00:13:51:19 –> 00:14:10:18
Exactly. And you know, and I started thinking about it. I’m like, well, I’m really liking hunting. I might as well try to be a hunting guide. And well, what would I say? Like six months later I got lucky and was working for Marvin James back in the day.

00:14:10:23 –> 00:14:13:11
This is like right outta high school or type thing?

00:14:13:11 –> 00:14:17:15
This is right. This is right out of high school. This is months after high school.

00:14:17:16 –> 00:14:21:07
So you’re working elk and deer, both in Arizona primarily. Is that what

00:14:21:17 –> 00:14:25:06
You started? Probably got you the running cameras and different things.

00:14:25:26 –> 00:14:33:02
Yeah, no, yeah. I was hanging out with Marvin a little bit doing that and over in New Mexico with them a lot over at the, the cabin.

00:14:34:05 –> 00:14:34:14
Yeah.

00:14:35:06 –> 00:15:06:27
And doing a lot of elk hunts over there. And then it just kinda, I took off from there and started working for getting Matt Berg outta Arizona and started doing a lot of on the strip and stuff like that. And then, then gradually moved over to gray. ’cause I’m doing a lot of hunts. Like I’m doing it full-time now. So it’s, I’m just not, I’m not doing six hunts a year anymore. I’m doing 15 or 20. I, I would guess yeah. To make a living. ’cause yeah,

00:15:06:27 –> 00:15:21:17
It’s little bit tougher in Arizona when it’s strictly a draw. Nevada has some, you know, whether it be the outfitter draw or landowner tags, you know, ways to, I, I guess, bolster clients, you know, for an outfitter versus just strictly draw hunters. Only in Arizona.

00:15:21:20 –> 00:15:33:13
Oh, a hundred percent. And the thing with the Nevada stuff is you get guys that are repeat clients that are buying these landowner tags year in and year out. So it’s, you build a good relationship with them and it’s, it’s fun to go hunt with them.

00:15:34:08 –> 00:15:38:10
So how long have you been working for Greg then in Nevada?

00:15:39:08 –> 00:15:40:28
I think this is gonna be my fifth year.

00:15:41:23 –> 00:16:05:23
Wow. Well, he’s taken a lot of clients and you’ve got, you guys, you know, seem to work really well together. You’re on a lot of hunts with him. He’s obviously believes in you. He’s, you know, you’ve killed a lot of game over there in, in Nevada in a short amount of time. If it’s five years. I mean, geez, you’ve been involved in a lot of deer. 200 inch plus type deer. So, you know,

00:16:06:17 –> 00:16:07:05
Been fortunate.

00:16:07:17 –> 00:16:24:14
Yeah, really fortunate. Really fortunate. And so anyway, yeah. So making a living 15, 20 plus hunts a year and cranking along, looks like you’re gonna stay, stay the course and, and keep going or,

00:16:25:21 –> 00:16:41:05
Yeah, I don’t, I don’t think I’m gonna slow down anytime soon. You know, I’m, I’m only 26 now and the fi the fiance is okay with what I’m doing. So they keep doing that for as long as they can.

00:16:41:13 –> 00:16:42:27
As long as you can get away with it. Do it.

00:16:43:08 –> 00:17:01:19
It’s just what, like, at the end of the day, it’s like what I live for. It’s just like, like even though some days people are like, man, you have the best job ever. But some days it’s not that fun. No. You know, when you’re grinding it out for 20 days and can’t turn anything up or you know, something of that nature. It’s

00:17:01:19 –> 00:17:06:25
Not all notch and tags and, you know, lower intel gets, gets to low throw 200 ventures in the back.

00:17:07:09 –> 00:17:09:13
No, exactly. No.

00:17:09:25 –> 00:17:36:24
So fast forward, I guess last year a little bit, we’ll maybe go back to your guiding in a bit, but this obviously this guiding in Arizona, guiding in Nevada, killing big mul there. Put your hands on ’em. Tell us why, as we’re leading up to maybe your, your deer hunting Arizona last year, what made you choose archery season? And I don’t believe, correct, correct me if I’m wrong, that you had anywhere near like a maximum point pool points. So, oh,

00:17:36:26 –> 00:18:05:21
I wasn’t, I wasn’t even in the running. I thought, yeah, I believe I drew it with nine points. I believe it took 18 was, was max for archery. So going into the draw, it wasn’t even, it wasn’t even a thing. I just never even thought about it. Just that was the first year I ever put in for the archery. ’cause I was kind of worried with, so like with Nevada, your, like your tags, they come out well before

00:18:06:13 –> 00:18:09:17
Yeah. You already knew your schedule to a large extent.

00:18:10:12 –> 00:18:11:15
Exactly. So before

00:18:11:15 –> 00:18:11:20
Even

00:18:11:20 –> 00:18:15:14
That’s Greg and Greg’s going, Hey, I got lots and lots of work. And you’re like,

00:18:17:00 –> 00:18:25:15
Yeah, well no, it was never like, it was like, oh, okay, yeah. So I’ll just, I’ll just buy points. And then last year I’m like, I’m just gonna put in, you know,

00:18:25:29 –> 00:18:28:16
Moisture was looking too good. Just things like that. You’re like,

00:18:28:23 –> 00:18:36:09
Exactly. You, you never know. And Greg’s the kind of guy he’s, it’s not a big deal. He’s like, all right, well, we’ll, we’ll, we’ll, we’ll figure it out. So I’m like, all right,

00:18:36:13 –> 00:18:44:08
Well, and, and, and to kind of preface that a little bit, he drew his own tack too. He’s applying and, and cranking, oh, well

00:18:44:17 –> 00:19:52:27
Also we’ll get this, like, when I found out I drew the tag. So I was just hanging out in bed the summer day and woke up or eating breakfast and people were like, oh, cards are getting hit. I’m like, all right. I’m like, I’m not gonna check it. I’m not, I don’t wanna check my, my bank account. And I’m like, five minutes later I’m gonna check it. I pull it up, it’s $45 on there. I’m like, Hmm. Call my buddy Benny Wells. And I go, Benny, what’s this, this $45 means I, I have a deer tag. And he’s like, he’s like, looks like you’re gonna be hunting 13 B this year. Geez. Unless, unless Taylor drew on my application. I’m like, oh no. I’m like, I just put in by myself on my application and I only put in one choice. So from then, from right then I knew it was, it was 13 game off. I only put in 13 D archery. And I called Greg like immediately too. Like, look, I have this tag. And he was kind of like, he didn’t seem that excited, but little did I know that he just drew the tag and he’s like probably in a hospital bed. So I don’t know. Was he probably just passed out? No. Oh,

00:19:52:29 –> 00:19:55:29
He you, yeah. Just shock and off both of you guys. He

00:19:55:29 –> 00:19:58:17
Was in shock. Yeah. And I was too one

00:19:58:17 –> 00:20:03:21
Of the best moisture years in history. And here we are, got a couple pair of tags, we’re gonna kill a couple of giants

00:20:04:11 –> 00:20:06:21
E Exactly. Yeah. So that’s

00:20:06:21 –> 00:20:31:11
What I thinks important. And you know, a lot of people don’t understand that, you know, that don’t live for the Arizona strip guide at whatever, or arid places like Nevada, Southern Utah. And we talk about moisture a lot. Some areas like, you know, Wyoming, Idaho, you know, that means die offs, you know, those heavy winners. Heavy. Right. You know, you know. But down here, I mean, that means antler growth. You know, there is no die off down here.

00:20:31:11 –> 00:20:34:27
Yeah. That doesn’t happen down here. I wouldn’t, I couldn’t imagine it. Yeah.

00:20:35:08 –> 00:20:35:15
So

00:20:35:19 –> 00:20:37:10
Unless they died in a flash flood.

00:20:37:26 –> 00:20:45:25
So anyway, you’re you’re going hunting, you guys are conversing a little bit and just kind of shocking off, just dumbfounded. So

00:20:46:10 –> 00:21:24:03
Yeah, like when I drew the tag, like I, I was stoked, but I did not think about it again. Like, I was like, I don’t even, I don’t even wanna think about a hunt ’cause I’m gonna lose sleep and, you know, I just wanna live my everyday life. Yeah. So my, I hired my buddy Bob Diman of Shadow Valley, and I do some work with them too. And I would guess it was probably almost a month later, he started sending me a few trail camera photos. And I’m like, now I can’t sleep. Like, why would he send me these? And the first buck he sent me was a direct guild.

00:21:24:16 –> 00:21:25:07
Wow. Really?

00:21:25:26 –> 00:21:31:26
And he told me where it was and I’m like, yeah, that’s awesome. Like, that’s, that’s cool. That’s

00:21:31:26 –> 00:21:35:25
Neat. I’m gonna forget about it because that, you know, we’ll that’s probably won’t find that dear this time.

00:21:36:01 –> 00:21:38:05
Be a gov tag buck or something like that. Who knows.

00:21:38:05 –> 00:22:13:11
It was exactly, I, and I honestly thought I was like, that buck’s gonna be dead. He’s he’s gonna die from the gov tag. He was crushing water where he lived was super thick. It’s, it’s not even realistic for a bow. That’s why I was, I was like, awesome. I’m just stoked that I know there’s gonna be other bucks of that caliber, I would hope. Yeah. And turns out I was like, I’m, I’m not, I’m just not gonna hunt that deer. There’s so the problem last year there was so many deer, so many giant deer. I could not figure out which one I wanted to hunt. Wow.

00:22:13:15 –> 00:22:14:11
Yeah. Good problem.

00:22:14:22 –> 00:22:27:14
And there’s a lot of cameras on, you know, as people know, there’s a lot of cameras out there on each of these waters. So you’re thinking, well, there’s another 5, 8, 10 plus guides that know about this deer, all these other deer, whatever. There

00:22:27:14 –> 00:22:42:29
Was, there was like 25 cameras on the thing. Yeah. It was the most ridiculous. It’s like Nevada, when you go to Nevada during can go, someone goes, oh, that counted 30 cameras on there. I’m like, well, yeah, but there’re in the pan. There’s, there’s four troughs and a lot of people are putting four

00:22:42:29 –> 00:22:44:20
Cameras on four cameras. Yeah. You gotta divide apart two, four

00:22:44:20 –> 00:23:00:13
In Arizona. There’s one trough. So yeah, there was people running video, there was a lot of stuff going on. And I just, I I, I didn’t wanna compete sitting in water too. That was one thing I just, I just wanted to have a fun hunt and, and not do that.

00:23:00:27 –> 00:23:34:16
I want to talk just a quick, real quick, briefly. You’re a guide yourself. You’re 26 years old, you’re aggressive, you know, the average Joe out there would say, why would the, would a kid like this go and hire somebody? I just wanna talk about that just briefly. The importance of once in a lifetime tags and biting off more than you can chew if you were to do this on your own. And then also just making the most of the opportunities that come along doesn’t need you. Doesn’t mean you needed a guide necessarily. However, help on a tag like this was well worth the investment

00:23:35:06 –> 00:23:48:00
At the end of the day. A lot of people are like, well, I’m gonna do it myself. It’s like, all right, well I’ve been on the strip a lot. I’ve 113 beat a lot and I do not know it as well as other guides.

00:23:48:24 –> 00:23:49:02
Yeah.

00:23:50:20 –> 00:24:00:18
Guys like, like Bobby. He, he’s run all of it. He knows, I would say more than the majority of all the waters and says cameras on.

00:24:01:04 –> 00:24:16:13
How did he learn it? How did he learn it? Did he used to work for somebody? You said you kind of worked with Shimberg so you know, it Shimberg was, I mean you wanna say he’s one of the olds. He’s one of the greats. Clear, you know, I would say nineties. He, early two thousands. He was he was,

00:24:16:20 –> 00:24:17:05
He still is.

00:24:17:07 –> 00:24:21:23
Yeah. He was like the man down there. You learned a lot from him. You still booked an out outfit.

00:24:21:28 –> 00:24:24:01
Bobby. Bobby did. Bobby does well. Yeah.

00:24:24:02 –> 00:24:25:25
Yeah. He worked under Shimberg as well.

00:24:26:16 –> 00:24:26:23
Yep.

00:24:27:11 –> 00:24:27:29
That’s awesome.

00:24:28:16 –> 00:24:34:09
Yeah. So at the end of the day, and then another thing to keep in mind is I have another job too. Yeah.

00:24:34:15 –> 00:24:38:09
I can’t, you’ve got August 10th as, as an opener in Nevada. Right, exactly.

00:24:38:11 –> 00:24:39:11
You’ve got two

00:24:39:11 –> 00:24:42:02
Weeks or whatever of archery, deer hunting, guiding

00:24:42:09 –> 00:24:42:21
I was there.

00:24:42:28 –> 00:25:10:11
Yeah. So that’s a big, that’s a big part of it. You know, if you had nothing else, if you had a, I don’t know, eight to fiver in Prescott Valley, it, you know, might’ve been a totally different deal. But situationally Yeah. A tag like this comes along in a year that’s gonna be epic. It’s obvious the choke camera pitchers alone. I mean, you knew even before trail camera pitchers based on the winter and spring moisture. But then they just reinforced it and you’re like, this is, this is the stars of a line.

00:25:11:07 –> 00:25:11:21
Exactly.

00:25:11:29 –> 00:25:18:12
And then Greg, he gets his tag and then he hires an outfitter too. Greg’s been outfitting for how many years, you know what I mean? Over

00:25:18:15 –> 00:25:18:23
30.

00:25:19:03 –> 00:25:22:07
Yeah. So anyway, and then he hires Clay Bundy. Right.

00:25:22:22 –> 00:25:23:01
Yeah.

00:25:23:11 –> 00:25:32:27
And for the rifle hunt course, we want to, you know Yeah. Differentiate that from your hunt. But anyway. Alright, let’s jump into the hunt.

00:25:33:09 –> 00:26:10:27
So I get a, so I get outta Nevada, I had Nevada for, I don’t, I don’t know, eight or nine days head home for a little bit. And I was gonna burn straight to the strip, but I’m like, you know what I’m, I want to go up there fresh ’cause I’m gonna be up there for 21 days. Yeah. Not including during the hunt. I’m not leaving. Yeah. Like, I’m going, like, when I go there, I’m going, I’m not, I’m not coming back or, or whatever. So I go home, hang out with the lady, you know, load stuff up, go over, organize stuff, make food, whatever. Looking

00:26:10:27 –> 00:26:11:08
At houses,

00:26:12:24 –> 00:26:15:02
Things like that. Look at houses, you know,

00:26:15:17 –> 00:26:18:07
Making marriage plans. Yeah. But getting ready to head out.

00:26:18:19 –> 00:26:19:25
But I think it is important. Yeah.

00:26:19:25 –> 00:26:30:21
She knew, she knew when I, when I drew the tag though, she was like, what? Like, she just didn’t get it. I’m like, this is, this is big. This is like you getting a free pass to Disneyland for your whole life right here. Oh,

00:26:30:21 –> 00:26:35:14
That’s a good, my wife would, that would resonate with my wife. Use it perfectly. Use

00:26:35:14 –> 00:26:35:17
It

00:26:36:06 –> 00:26:49:26
Next time I’m going in because they’re my, my, my wife and daughter have been so burn bummed because a daughter, which she’s 17, it’s not like I’ve got five year olds anymore. Right. But they go down at least once a year.

00:26:50:16 –> 00:26:50:23
Wow.

00:26:51:05 –> 00:26:52:05
Yeah. Just to

00:26:52:08 –> 00:26:54:10
Go. So that’d be a good, that’d be a good analogy, right?

00:26:54:24 –> 00:26:58:08
Yeah. I’m gonna use it. Jeff, I’m taking that from you. So next time, what

00:26:58:08 –> 00:26:59:10
Would my wife, my once

00:26:59:13 –> 00:27:00:00
A lifetime

00:27:00:03 –> 00:27:00:20
With her, John,

00:27:01:01 –> 00:27:05:11
You know, tags though that doesn’t work anymore. I need a new line. And that’s a good one’s dinner

00:27:05:11 –> 00:27:17:20
And dishes for 150 days. I mean, what would resonate with John? I dunno. Food storage. That’s the first six years. I dunno me gardening months on in. Alright, keep going. This isn’t going anywhere good.

00:27:18:08 –> 00:28:53:09
Right, right. So I, I’m leaving, right? So it’s Tuesday. My buddies Brian Bunick and Jason Gey, they loan me, they’re side by side. Like, Hey, you use this on your strip hunt. I’m like, well, heck yeah, I’ll take it. Three or four days before the hunt, Brett Simson and Bronson Bundy from M d a, they called me and said like, Hey, we don’t have any archery hunters this year and we want you to know that this giant buck with a single dropper, he moved five and a half miles to the east to this one catchment and you need to put a blind there. So immediately I got on my alarm text my buddy Bobby, Bobby Dykeman, I said, Hey, you need to go put a ground blind on this catchment right now. He’s like, all right. He goes and puts one on there and a few days later, that’s when I’m heading up and I pick a spot directly between, so it’s, yeah, it’s five and a half miles across from A to B catchment or whatever. And I park right in the middle of it and I’m like on this tiny little look. I sit down, start glassing and it’s, I’m up, I’m up there and it’s, I’m dark thing near pitch black. And the glass is black up beded. And it’s the video I sent you guys. He’s laying down. And after once, once it starts getting light, I start realizing like, it’s this deer, this the bus. He gets up and, and I get the, and I’m like, no way. And I’m kind of bummed out just a little bit because

00:28:54:07 –> 00:28:54:24
Too easy.

00:28:55:20 –> 00:28:56:28
Too easy, right? Too easy.

00:28:56:28 –> 00:28:57:06
Yeah.

00:28:57:14 –> 00:29:05:11
Too easy. I leave Prescott, I drive online, I get there. The only deer I’m looking at is the buck that I’ve been here looking for. I’m going to look for this

00:29:05:11 –> 00:29:07:28
Buck’s dead and doesn’t even know it. That’s what you’re

00:29:07:28 –> 00:29:58:11
Thinking. Yeah. Well that’s what I’m thinking. Well, I know I’ve, I’ve played this game for a little while, so I’m like, this, this never happened, right? Yeah. Yep. You want, I I wanna be in these shoes right now when I have a bow in my hand and I can’t, I can’t do anything with them. I’m like, yeah, this is what’s gonna happen. We’re gonna find, I’m gonna find this deal right now, like I just did and we’re not gonna turn ’em up for a week or something, you know? That’s what I’m thinking. But in the meantime, I’m getting the best video of like my life. Yeah. On one of the biggest deer I’ve ever seen. I’ve, I mean he made like top five probably biggest deer I’ve seen. If I’m videoing I’m, I call my buddy Benny and I’m like, dude, I found a giant. And everyone’s exci excited and like, you know, when you go to say you’re like, you’re moving from one home to the other and you’re like calling your buddies and you’re like, Hey, you wanna help me out and move? People are like, yeah. Like maybe Yeah. Lemme

00:29:58:11 –> 00:29:59:08
Check my schedule.

00:29:59:19 –> 00:30:21:20
Yeah, exactly. That’s how it was. Everyone’s like, yeah. Like, yeah, I’d love to be there. Okay. Well, I’ll tell you right now, when I found that thing, everyone, 90% of the guys I invited were like loading up the truck right now. We’re we’re off. And they showed up the next day just to go hunt that thing with me. Yeah, I’ll bet. And so when I found that deer, he was 400 yards from the side by side.

00:30:22:06 –> 00:30:22:14
Geez.

00:30:23:15 –> 00:30:40:02
And I mean, what, what was I gonna do? He was, he was on the wide open face and he finally fed over the hill. And I’m like, well, I have to leave. So I left and I never went back and I didn’t want, I didn’t want anyone to see me in there. Yeah.

00:30:40:11 –> 00:30:41:20
It’s competitive. Let’s,

00:30:41:25 –> 00:30:42:23
It is competitive. So that’s

00:30:42:23 –> 00:30:52:22
Putting it lightly. It’s competitive. Yeah. Which n d guys, m d a guys knowing one, you’re booked with Bobby. I mean the m d a guys are pretty, pretty standup Good dudes hook

00:30:52:26 –> 00:31:14:00
Hooking you up that way. That was, it was very cool of him. Yeah. And I’ve always had a really good relationship with Brett Bronson and, and, and Brett. It was very awesome. And I’m very appreciative. Yeah. They were just like, you know, they’re like, we don’t have any archery hunters and we’ve always had good experiences with you and run-ins and stuff. And like, we, you deserve that idea. I’m like, well, I know if I deserve,

00:31:14:16 –> 00:31:17:22
I appreciate it. Yes, I do. Let’s do this. All right, so this

00:31:17:22 –> 00:31:22:07
Was Tuesday. Exactly. This was Tuesday. Morning hunt starts Friday. Is that about where we’re at?

00:31:22:20 –> 00:31:26:12
No, that was, so I left Tuesday, so I this is Wednesday morning now. Wednesday

00:31:26:12 –> 00:31:30:24
Morning. Gotcha. You got 2 48 hours before it’s go time, basically.

00:31:30:24 –> 00:31:51:25
Yeah. And it, and it is setting in and when think, keep in mind like when I ha I, when I drew this tag, I didn’t wanna stress myself out. Good luck in 2000, 2014. Yeah. Right. I drew a unit 10 early archery tag for, for people that don’t know what that is. It’s like a early big deal. Yeah. For elk early

00:31:51:25 –> 00:31:54:13
Rifle. Did you say archery and archery?

00:31:54:19 –> 00:31:55:11
Yeah. Archery,

00:31:55:11 –> 00:31:57:07
Early archery unit 10. Yeah. It’s a big,

00:31:57:11 –> 00:32:42:10
Big deal. And I, I hunted every day. I killed the biggest bull I ever, ever have, but I just didn’t have fun because I was so worried about killing the big bull, if that makes sense. Yeah. Like I was so brush your packs and I just didn’t, I just didn’t, I just didn’t enjoy the hunt and I did not wanna do that on this hunt. And I, I, I didn’t wanna kill a deer just because of a number. Either if the deer was, you know, old, heavy, wide, whatever, if I like the deer, I’m gonna shoot ’em. It doesn’t have to be a set number, you know. Yeah. One of my favorite deer killed from last year in the strip was probably one of the lowest scoring deer, but he was huge. Yeah. If that makes sense. Yeah. And scores

00:32:42:14 –> 00:32:43:08
On everything, that’s

00:32:43:08 –> 00:33:03:24
For sure. When I, so when I saw the video show, camera video of this, fuck, I’m like, honestly, if I was sitting water and this thing came in, like, I’m not even sure if I’m gonna like him, but I’ll tell you right now when I glass him up. You liked him? Yeah, I liked him. Yeah. I’m like, he will do. And I could kill him right now, but I can’t. Yeah.

00:33:03:26 –> 00:33:11:11
So you go into camp, I don’t know, I assume that day or night or next day, your dad, all these buddies are coming up, Bob or, Nope.

00:33:11:11 –> 00:34:09:18
So my dad, he started that new job, so he wasn’t showing up till Saturday morning. Oh, geez. And I’m thinking, I have a arm, I have a army. I have a lot of friends that sacrificed their time to show up and have a good time with me. And a lot of ’em never even been to the strips. So at that time, like we were gonna cover this country and it’s like the most killable country you’ve ever seen. Geez. And, and we hunted and we chopped it up. We looked like just soldiers out there chopping up this country and we never turned them. And I’m like, wow. Well, keep in mind the night before I checked all the waters I drove, checked all the waters on camera, he never hit. And he, and he hadn’t hit for three days, so I was kind of worried where he went. Anyways, we hunted him all day Friday, opening day and then a Friday night. I’m like, he’s not, I’m like, he’s not here. There’s no way with the amount of us he moved

00:34:09:18 –> 00:34:10:07
Or something. Yeah.

00:34:10:08 –> 00:34:20:02
Yeah. We did not, we had to have cut a fresh track. And I think thinking back now, I’m pretty sure when I parked my side by side up there, I’m pretty sure I bumped him.

00:34:20:20 –> 00:34:20:28
Yeah.

00:34:21:29 –> 00:34:51:09
I, I think I did. Yeah. He moved three miles from there and went back to his original water hole, which is, it’s just not realistic. It’s, I’m not gonna sit water. I mean, I will, I, I actually did that morning till like six 30. I’m like, I’m over this. Let’s go on and, well, anyways, I checked the water hole that night and he, he, he hit it opening morning. And I’m like, okay, well, opening

00:34:51:09 –> 00:34:53:12
Morning before daylight or after daylight.

00:34:53:23 –> 00:35:41:24
Before daylight. Okay. Like with an hour of daylight. And we were, we hunted all day in a different spot thinking he’s over there. Yeah. So I’m like, well, I’m not gonna go sit water over there. ’cause I’m, there was another buck, there was another 240 something inch deer. And I was like, I just don’t wanna compete with people sitting water and just doesn’t sound fun to me. Right. And I’m like, all right, well, I know of two other bucks that are in the two twenties. So I sent half the group down south looking for ’em. And then I went, went west with a few guys, never turned him up. And this is on Saturday. My dad shows up and we’re just hanging around camp, I think, making a plan. I’m like, well, there’s a couple other bucks. And we ended up killing both these deer later on.

00:35:41:25 –> 00:36:31:09
One on the archery and one on the rifle hunt. They’re both two 15 and one was two 20. Wow. Like, well, let’s go look for, I sent like everyone, I’m like, let’s go look for these deer. And me, my dad, my buddy Mark and er will go look for this other buck. It’s not likely that we’re gonna find them, but you never know. Yep. So I pull up on this ridge and it’s probably five 30 and I get out and where this buck was, there’s a huge ramp and you get a glass across like two miles of sage. And then it starts getting the broken up juniper country. So I pull up my doctors and everyone has their big eyes, and it’s just me and my dad and Mark, or Mark, my dad and I, and as soon as I sit down within a minute, I glass up this buck.

00:36:32:15 –> 00:37:13:04
I don’t even know if it’s a buck. I just, I’m just guessing it looked like a cow. ’cause the body was so big. I’m like, Hey Mark, I got a, I got a cow right here, or a buck. And he’s like, all right. He wasn’t paying attention to me. Really. I’m like, it’s gotta be a buck. And finally the buck walks out and it is so windy and so hazy. We’re looking straight into the sun. I, my my buddy described it like a, a child is swinging from your tripod while you’re looking through a screen door in the sun. That’s how it was. Hmm. And I don’t even know what, I didn’t even know what deer it was. I glassed up. I could just tell it was a, a big deer, mature deer. I’m like, yeah. Yep. I’m like, I’m outta here. I’m like, I know there’s not, there’s not very many bucks right here.

00:37:13:25 –> 00:37:59:29
And I tell huge, I had a big frame. I told those guys. I’m like, all right, sit on ’em. I’m, I’m gone. So I take off and I’m, I’m running across this sage. And keep in mind, I broke, I snapped my leg 2018, sent my tib and fib. So that was the first time I ever ran. So I felt good, but keep in mind, the next day I could barely, the next three days I couldn’t. I could not even walk. It was ridiculous. But anyways, so I’m running towards this deer and I’m, I’m almost there. And those guys are like, and it’s kind of risky because it’s wide open sage, and it goes up to a little roller, which the deer is on. And those guys are like, yeah, we have ’em. But he went behind a tree. We don’t know which tree he went behind, and we don’t know if he could see you or not.

00:37:59:29 –> 00:38:53:06
And I’m like, well, I, I don’t care. I mean, they’re blowing the deer out right now, or I’m gonna get an opportunity. I can’t just sit back and, and hope on what he did. So I’m just running up there and I get almost to the deer. And my buddy Mark, he’s, he tells me, he’s like, dude, it’s the, it’s the buck. And it’s like, it’s our deer. So I’m like, okay, cruising up there. And for some reason I thought, I don’t know, since I’m stalking a giant deer, like I’m not gonna feel any pain. So I’m like barefoot, basically cruising across this cactus’s covered land. And I was just, couldn’t do it. I, I, I went a hundred yards probably and was like, put the boots back on, started crushing ground again. And I’m, and I’m threading the wind a little bit too, because I know where the deer’s at now, like the general area and the wind is kind of iffy those canyons.

00:38:53:06 –> 00:39:25:11
And once I get on top, those guys stop me. They’re like, you need to stop right there. So I’m like, all right, I’m just hanging out for a minute. And I take my boots off this time for, for good. And they tell me, they’re like, Hey, this, that deer just, he just walked out. He’s, he’s walking right to left, probably in front of you, probably a hundred yards. And I look up and I’m like, well, I could see him clear as day. I’m like, yep, that’s about a hundred yards. And he’s, he’s angling to me. So now I’m like getting pretty nervous because a giant, you’re walking in, there’s gonna

00:39:25:11 –> 00:39:29:09
Be an encounter. That’s what happens. Something’s gonna happen here. Yeah. The hunt starts at a hundred yards.

00:39:30:10 –> 00:40:26:26
Yeah. So, and he’s like, he is coming. And then he’s like angling to me and he stops and I start covering ground. I’m walking right at him in the wide open, not wide open. It’s, it’s pretty open though. I pick in my range finder range. I’m 68 yards and he’s perfectly broadside facing dead away from me, just destroying this cliff Rose Bush. And I’m like, all right. And I’m thinking, I’m like, okay, now this is, I could shoot 70, like all day long. My only concern was, is me shooting and, and him hearing the arrow or my bow going off and like duck and lunging or ducking, you know? Yeah. So I’m thinking, I’m like, well, I could shave off a few more yards right here, but I’m in the open. And he, he stopped feeding and just started scanning. And he scanned, right? Like straight to me and just locked onto me.

00:40:27:01 –> 00:41:15:08
And I’m like thinking to myself, I just, I just ruined this great opportunity because I didn’t, I didn’t shoot. And he’s staring a hole right through me. And I have a face mask on and gloves on. And hopefully he can’t see like any shine or anything. And I’m like, I’m clipped on. I’m ready to draw. I just can’t. Or it was like the little devil on one side and the angel and the other, like one side was telling me like, just draw your bow back. And the other side was like, just be patient. And for some reason I just stayed patient. And he turned back around and started feeding again on that same bush. Geez. Lucky. Instantly, right when I started drawing back, like I was shaking, like you couldn’t believe how bad I was Shaking. Shaking so bad. And finally when I hit full draw, it was just like, everything went away.

00:41:16:04 –> 00:41:55:01
And I settled that, I settled that pen and I was shooting a, a hinge release, like one of those back tensions. And it felt so good just going off. It felt perfect. And as the arrow’s going, the buck, the buck starts spinning. The buck started spinning out of the way. And I thought my arrow went right in front of his brisket and it sounded like it hit a bush. And that’s, and that, about that time, my dad and my buddy Mark were like, did you sh did you shoot that buck? Like, that buck just tore off out there. Did you shoot? I’m like, yeah, I shot. They’re like, all right, well, what do you think? I, I don’t, I don’t know. I don’t know.

00:41:55:14 –> 00:41:56:23
We’ve all been there. Some crews

00:41:57:06 –> 00:42:13:14
Put my boots on cruise over there. I get to where his tracks are. And I’m like, all right, well, there’s no arrow, there’s no blood. So I hop on his tracks, I track him for about 20 yards, no blood still. Wow. Now people are, now people are

00:42:13:14 –> 00:42:14:14
Like, you’re sick. You’re sick.

00:42:15:01 –> 00:42:39:02
I’m pretty bummed. Yeah. Wow. People are like, so what? Like, you’re Jeff. What’s going on? I don’t know, guys. I’m 30 yards in and there’s no blood. They’re like, all right, well just stay on this track. All right, well I’m just following this track. 40 yards in, 50 yards in no blood. So as you can tell, like as you would imagine, I’m pretty low right now.

00:42:39:10 –> 00:42:44:18
Yeah. You’re figuring. Yeah. I missed him. What I thought I saw probably is what happened. Figuring

00:42:44:20 –> 00:42:45:00
The worst.

00:42:45:17 –> 00:43:10:13
Yep. Yep. Exactly. And I’m walking and I have my boonie hat pulled over my head. So I get to about 70 yards. I take one step, and in my peripherals, I could see a hove within two feet of my boot. And I look up and there is a giant deer, giant deer with an arrow stuck in him dead.

00:43:11:01 –> 00:43:11:07
Wow.

00:43:12:08 –> 00:43:23:00
And I’m telling you right there, I’ve never experienced anything like the emotions that I didn’t cry like a baby or anything, but I, I honestly couldn’t breathe. It was, I can, it was, I can’t even explain it. Well,

00:43:23:00 –> 00:43:37:06
Your mind was somewhere completely out’s. Like, I’m, I’m Yeah. Falling these tracks. ’cause that’s the last place I know where the deer went. There’s no blood. You’re maybe even lost hope. You’re hoping, but you probably even already lost hope. 70 yards is, is a long ways to

00:43:37:06 –> 00:43:38:20
Mindlessly walking the hope. The hope

00:43:38:21 –> 00:43:39:05
Flew out

00:43:39:05 –> 00:43:44:13
The window. Yeah. 70 yards is a long ways to follow a track, bounding track and not find blood

00:43:44:23 –> 00:44:05:11
With not one. And when I tell you when I shot this thing was gone like lightning, super fat. I’ve never seen a deer. It was, I don’t know, it was so weird. It was like a blink. And he was gone. There was just dust. Wow. So, man, when I walked up to him, I, I didn’t even touch him. I just came over the radio and I said, you know,

00:44:06:09 –> 00:44:08:11
Come, come down, boys come

00:44:08:11 –> 00:44:16:25
Down. Yeah. Pretty much you, everyone drives safe. ’cause I don’t want any of idiots. Yeah. Thinking you’re in the ball. 1000 and rolling a truck. So Yeah. Just deers to be here.

00:44:17:05 –> 00:44:33:26
Well, and when you do something like that, you wanna share it, the initial emotions with everybody, they all deserve it. They all came up on their own time. Their own dime. Exactly. It’s just part of it. Like that’s a huge part of it. The success of it is not only is he giant, but we did it, you know, ex

00:44:33:26 –> 00:44:34:19
Exactly. We

00:44:34:19 –> 00:44:40:24
Did it. We targeted a buck. We hunted a buck and, and we killed this buck. Pretty awesome. Yeah. How

00:44:40:24 –> 00:44:57:24
Often. I was, I was very stoked from my dad to be there too. ’cause he wasn’t, he didn’t hunt Friday at all. He was working, drove up Friday night night. We were gone by the time he was there in the morning. So this deer I killed, that was the first buck. That was the first deer he saw on the strip that year.

00:44:58:10 –> 00:44:58:17
Wow.

00:44:59:04 –> 00:45:02:16
And I mean, the first Yeah. First stock,

00:45:03:08 –> 00:45:03:18
First

00:45:03:26 –> 00:45:08:06
Of your target deer or one of the five target deer. Let’s put the buck it

00:45:08:06 –> 00:45:08:22
Was meant to be.

00:45:08:26 –> 00:45:09:19
Yeah. Just,

00:45:09:27 –> 00:45:34:02
It was meant to be a hundred percent. I mean, people were like, wow, man, you got so lucky. I’m like, I don’t, I don’t think it was luck. I mean, it was, we put a lot of work into this and I got, it was just meant to be, you know. Yeah, that’s what I thought. Like when I was, shoot, I was shooting that day at camp too, and I’m pretty sure I’m not a hundred percent sure, but when we were shooting, we were shooting a can at like, I’m pretty sure it was 68 yards sitting. I was sitting in a chair just

00:45:34:04 –> 00:45:34:26
Shooting on, come

00:45:34:26 –> 00:45:39:14
On. That was, yeah. Yeah. I’m, I’m not even joking. It’s funny. Wow. Yeah.

00:45:39:18 –> 00:45:40:28
Pretty amazing. Pretty

00:45:40:28 –> 00:45:52:13
Awesome buddy. It’s a, it’s a once in a lifetime deer. I’m sure you know, you’re young enough. Yeah. You’ll you’ll get a bigger deer than that and being an Arizona resident, you’ll, you’ll hunt the strip again. So hopefully

00:45:52:22 –> 00:45:53:07
Praying.

00:45:53:29 –> 00:45:55:14
Yeah. Unbelievable

00:45:56:08 –> 00:46:06:10
It. Yeah. It was, I’m just glad I experienced it with like all my friends and it wasn’t like Yeah. I, I was just perfect. I think that’s, that’s no drama with anything. And just,

00:46:06:17 –> 00:46:27:04
Yeah. And I think that’s one thing about it. People like look at the teams that go hunting and there’s a little bit of a distaste for, for teams out hunting. And a lot of it is, is that you didn’t necessarily need a team that big, but everybody wanted to be a part of it. And you want ’em there. So did you need three or four or five guys glass and shoulder to shoulder? It was like, well, no, but

00:46:27:04 –> 00:46:28:09
It, it was like 10. It was

00:46:28:09 –> 00:46:36:17
Like 10. Yeah. But, but did you need that or was it more That’s what was really cool about hunting camp. Right. That was what’s really cool about a once in lifetime type tag.

00:46:36:26 –> 00:46:37:22
Oh, they rare. What

00:46:37:22 –> 00:46:57:20
Really? It felt really good. ’cause I’ve been a part of a lot of auction stuff in the past. I I don’t, we don’t do auction stuff anymore, but I have in the past and there’s been 20 guys, 15 guys, 10 guys on this and like to show up to a camp and know that those are all my friends. Yeah. And they’re all here outta their pocket is

00:46:58:10 –> 00:47:17:04
A great, and they’re not paid to be there. And, and the one thing you, they’re not paid to be there. Yeah. One thing you find I we found a little bit is people that are paid to be there. I mean, you can’t, you can’t pay people to hunt like they hunt with passion because they wanna be there because they’re, they chose to be there and to help somebody. Well, and,

00:47:17:07 –> 00:48:21:01
And that opportunity to a 13 bry, most all I would assume, really grasp the magnitude of what that tag is. The rarity of it is, even as a resident, you’re, you’re not gonna get more than, let’s just say a handful or less if you’re really lucky throughout the course of your life, and that’s a handful. Sounds crazy. But, but it might be your own, the archery strip tag, who knows? It, it, who knows. Very good lucky. Depends on how you apply. But yeah, the, the, the rareness of a tag like that elevates everybody’s wanting to be there and be a part of something special. We’ve, we’ve been on some hunts like that. Jason, I mean, your sheep hunt or my Henry’s hunt we’re the most recent two. I can think of where we had You can’t tell fr great friends. No, I mean, and they’re good help. They’re good help to begin with. Oh yeah. It’s not like, hey, they’re just in the way. Nobody’s in the way. They’re all wanting to be there. And it’s pretty special when it happens and you get a, you get all put your hands on. It’s kinda like the, the bear that falls out of the tree and all the dogs get to chew on it for a little bit. I

00:48:21:01 –> 00:48:21:07
Mean, it’s,

00:48:21:07 –> 00:48:22:19
You let the, you gotta let the

00:48:22:22 –> 00:48:37:22
Dog’s chew on it for a minute. That’s, you know, it’s kinda like you and your buddies. You gotta let ’em enjoy the moment, chew on the deer a little bit, you know, just come in and, and enjoy it. And that’s part of, part of doing it and making memories. And Congratulations man. What a,

00:48:38:06 –> 00:48:39:05
What a he I appreciate

00:48:39:05 –> 00:48:41:22
It. What a giant, what did he, what did he end up going? Just,

00:48:42:26 –> 00:48:45:08
I never got him officially scored. I know. What,

00:48:45:08 –> 00:48:46:28
What’d you guys get him at Gross, roughly?

00:48:47:22 –> 00:49:43:25
I, so when I killed the deer, all Brett and Bronson asked me, they said, Hey, when we, all I asked is if you kill him, you call us, we wanna go up there. All right. I killed him, texted him on a sat phone, said like, he’s dead. They’re like, all right, what kind of beer you like? They brought it up to us and I, I was sitting there with Bron and Bron like, Hey, do you mind if I score him? I said, absolutely not. Like, there’s not one number you could come up with right now that’s gonna make me disappointed. Right. That’s right. You tell me that deer is 200, 180 5 or Yeah, whatever, two, whatever. And I, I didn’t care. And you know, they, they scored him that night. I believe he was 2 39 or two Right at two 40. Yeah. Gross and gross. I don’t play with nets, but Yeah. And he is not a wrecker or anything, nor nor I, I don’t care to get him stripped or any of that. No.

00:49:43:28 –> 00:49:52:03
Well just, but just for conversation’s sake, you know? Right. That’s the kind of deer you go out there for. That’s the kind of deer you, you hope for on the Arizona Strip.

00:49:52:15 –> 00:50:00:13
I mean, yeah. If you got official, I think he’s gonna be the low two thirties. I mean, you gotta figure the velvet coming off and all that and all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah.

00:50:00:18 –> 00:50:29:17
Well what an awesome beer special. Yeah. And, and a great year too. That’s another thing. It’s, you gotta keep in mind everybody’s waiting one every once, every four or five years, you get one of these great weather years and then you’re the first hunt of a great weather year on top of the fact you’ve put in, you’ve put in your dues a little bit. You’ve definitely helped friends or, you know, wanting to come out and help you. And so it’s just all the anticipation, all the buildup of seeing something special die. How cool

00:50:29:17 –> 00:50:32:06
Is that? Right. Wow. It was awesome. Well,

00:50:32:16 –> 00:50:41:28
Right on buddy. It’s that time of year. Of course. That’s why we kind of put him in the Arizona issue. I guess you’ve seen your story in our publication.

00:50:43:11 –> 00:50:45:18
Yeah. I had a few clients send it to me.

00:50:46:18 –> 00:51:11:05
Well, the paper mag’s probably not quite to you, but it’s pretty special. It’s, yeah. Gets everybody fired up. Arizona’s that last application state, you know, for, for deer, obviously last hope and right deer like that give everybody a lot of hope that man, maybe this is my ear and it’s kind of shaping up. I mean, it’s rare to see back to back incredible years. I don’t care if both years are, it’s gonna

00:51:11:05 –> 00:51:11:08
Be

00:51:11:08 –> 00:51:23:02
Unreal. But it be unreal this year. But feel like this feeling like both from a southern Utah and northern Arizona, southeastern Nevada, it’s feeling like another one could be. So, had a

00:51:23:08 –> 00:51:25:07
Little bit of a dry spell here recently, but yeah.

00:51:25:10 –> 00:51:27:07
Warmed up quick the last month for sure.

00:51:27:10 –> 00:51:30:13
But we’re not sweating it too bad. It seems pretty darn good, don’t you figure

00:51:31:10 –> 00:51:47:15
I would agree. I think this year, I think especially in Arizona, I think it’s gonna be another, a freak year. There was a lot of giant deer that survived last year along with Nevada too. I haven’t been paying attention to the precipitation charts in Nevada, but I heard it’s a little slow right now, according to Greg.

00:51:48:01 –> 00:51:53:02
Yeah, it’s, it’s, they had a lot of heavy, you know, storms.

00:51:53:07 –> 00:51:55:10
Late winter. Yeah. Late winter stuff. Yeah. But

00:51:55:10 –> 00:52:22:21
Then now it’s, you know, we’re in a little bit of a dry spell, but feels, still feels good. I know Greg’s a huge fan of moisture in May, moisture in May makes everything. And I, and I agree with him to an extent. We did have quite a buildup to this point, so I don’t think it’s the end of the world. We do, we could use a little water, that’s for sure. So. Right. Anyway, well, we’ll have to visit with Greg. Have him on tell his story as well. What a, what an absolute. Yeah.

00:52:22:22 –> 00:52:40:15
Great. Yeah. His is a, I’m not even sure if he’s told his story, but it’s a, it’s a pretty good one. It was, it was awesome to see him shoot that deer. I mean, that guy’s been on a lot of giant, giant deer. Yeah. For him to get one of his own of, you know, Magnum sized. It’s awesome. Yeah.

00:52:40:21 –> 00:52:51:03
So when you killed your deer, the, well first attempt, we’ll call it second day, Greg found out. How did, how fast did he say, Hey, how soon can you be back in Nevada?

00:52:52:15 –> 00:52:53:15
No, he’d never, I was

00:52:53:15 –> 00:52:58:04
Done. He’d let you soak it in. He let you soak it in until the muzzle loader. Huh? You didn’t have to go back? No, he

00:52:58:04 –> 00:53:03:05
Is a, he’s a good boss. He’s, he’s like one of my best friends, honestly. He’s a good dude.

00:53:03:09 –> 00:53:06:24
You just soaked it in for a couple weeks before you headed back to the muzzle loader then?

00:53:07:01 –> 00:53:12:03
Yeah, no, I didn’t even go back to that. I was chasing some pine donkeys, you know,

00:53:13:00 –> 00:53:13:26
Pine donkeys,

00:53:14:11 –> 00:53:15:27
Some elk. Oh,

00:53:16:11 –> 00:53:23:07
Okay. Down in Arizona. All right. Yeah. Okay. Pine donkeys. Yeah, I’ve heard of swamp donkeys. That’s

00:53:23:24 –> 00:53:25:20
Swamp donkey, pine donkeys. Donkey

00:53:25:20 –> 00:53:27:02
Save donkeys. Yeah. Yeah.

00:53:27:23 –> 00:53:29:11
All pretty similar. Same blood line.

00:53:29:25 –> 00:53:34:26
All right. Well, anything else you want to add, Jeff? We sure appreciate you coming on with us here today.

00:53:35:22 –> 00:53:53:01
Oh, of course. I, I, I appreciate you guys having me and, and especially having me on the cover. It’s awesome. There was there going into the strip hunt. There was not one time it never crossed my mind to be killing a deer magazine worthy. Not like nonetheless a cover. Well,

00:53:53:03 –> 00:53:55:19
You did it. You did it. We appreciate you. He’s

00:53:55:23 –> 00:53:56:16
Worthy, that’s for sure.

00:53:56:17 –> 00:53:57:19
Yeah. He’s such a, I

00:53:57:19 –> 00:53:58:02
Appreciate it guys.

00:53:58:06 –> 00:54:13:12
Such an awesome deer. All right, buddy. Well again, thanks a lot. We appreciate it. Spend a little time with us. I don’t know. Of course. Hopefully some of that good luck rubs off on us this year. We’re antsy for the draw results. We got amaze quite a bit on,

00:54:14:04 –> 00:54:16:11
I think I’m drawing back to back strip tag.

00:54:18:11 –> 00:54:19:06
I’ll keep that one quiet.

00:54:19:11 –> 00:54:22:20
Only a resident. Only a resident can talk that way, so.

00:54:24:18 –> 00:54:32:00
Well, thanks a lot. Appreciate it. It’s the deer. We can all look, look forward to and dream big about. But yeah, good luck in the draws.

00:54:33:01 –> 00:54:41:08
I appreciate this. Good. Good luck in September. You look, sounds like you’re gonna be busy getting married. Oh yeah. Probably aren’t gonna be guiding the muzz loader hunt for deer in Nevada in s

00:54:41:27 –> 00:54:42:22
Cedar donkeys.

00:54:43:04 –> 00:54:44:25
Trying to figure out hunting new stuff right now.

00:54:45:02 –> 00:54:58:28
Pine donkeys, Cedar donkey, cedar donkeys. Yeah, you’re gonna be, you’re gonna be living in that house that she owns, so good luck to that. Good luck to you. Appreciate it. All right, buddy. Congratulations.

00:54:59:21 –> 00:55:01:00
Thank you boys. See? Alright.

00:55:01:01 –> 00:55:01:07
Yep.

00:55:03:12 –> 00:55:04:10
What else should we do?

00:55:04:16 –> 00:55:07:22
You know what Bronson, I’m so fired up. Let about draw results. Let,

00:55:07:24 –> 00:55:12:24
Let’s call. Let’s do it. Let’s call you. I’m gonna have, I’m gonna have to stay quiet here because they’re gonna, why? I’ll

00:55:12:24 –> 00:55:15:26
Tell him. Let me, I got my buddy on with me. We’re excited about this,

00:55:16:05 –> 00:55:22:13
Huh? Just we’re gonna try to price any tidbit of info we can out of the Utah draw.

00:55:23:18 –> 00:55:36:28
Let’s see what they have to say. Contractor. So here, tee it up just a little bit. We’re waiting for our credit cards to be hit in Utah. And again, super tough to draw Utah. We’re not really expecting much, but

00:55:37:01 –> 00:55:45:08
No, but there’s, until you get the door slammed, there’s hope. That’s right. We’ve been getting a lot of doors slammed the last week. Wyoming, Montana. That’s

00:55:45:08 –> 00:55:45:13
Right.

00:55:46:01 –> 00:55:47:07
Colorado sheep before that.

00:55:47:23 –> 00:55:54:22
So let’s call ’em, we want our cards charged. They, they, they have Bronson. Arguably. What do

00:55:54:22 –> 00:55:58:14
You, oh, not even arguably. Okay. The longest turnaround. Not even

00:55:58:26 –> 00:56:11:26
Arguably meaning the time definitively deadline to when the results come out the longest. And in a day and age with credit cards. Flip of a switch. You know, these, these computer programs run the draws and nothing flat. What’s the problem? Well,

00:56:11:26 –> 00:56:23:02
Let’s, let’s, let’s talk about a couple other states. Montana, moose, sheep and golden bison. Their deadline was May 1st. Okay. On Monday, May 11th. The results out came out in 10 days.

00:56:24:07 –> 00:56:24:28
What’s the problem?

00:56:25:07 –> 00:56:27:11
Utah. Nevada.

00:56:27:18 –> 00:56:28:26
Okay. Nevada was May 4th.

00:56:28:29 –> 00:56:30:00
May 4th deadline.

00:56:30:16 –> 00:56:32:20
We’re thinking middle of next week. Yeah.

00:56:32:25 –> 00:56:37:10
So come on. Within two, you know, 14 to seven only points

00:56:37:10 –> 00:56:40:02
Only was May 11. May 11.

00:56:40:23 –> 00:56:46:02
Utah’s March 5th. And we’re still, now we’re Mar or May, what are we? 12th.

00:56:46:26 –> 00:56:50:24
Is this a joke? Utah? Is this just a joke? I don’t know. That’s what we want to know. Alright, let’s, and

00:56:50:28 –> 00:57:00:23
I realize they didn’t set permits till April 30th. I realized that, but I contend set ’em earlier. Have the draw. No, have the draw run. You can run the draw, run it, have everybody queued,

00:57:01:01 –> 00:57:01:10
And then

00:57:01:17 –> 00:57:08:22
Allocate commands and all you know is Oh, 20, 40 tags in this unit. 40 of ’em to max. Those 40. Those 20 got it. These 20. The random and move on. I mean,

00:57:09:10 –> 00:57:09:23
Not a problem.

00:57:10:05 –> 00:57:20:11
Anyway, it feels like they haven’t kept up with some of the, some of the other advances that a lot of other states are doing. And we singled out the recent ones of Montana and Nevada. But I mean California.

00:57:21:05 –> 00:57:21:12
Oh

00:57:21:12 –> 00:57:24:01
Yeah. You wanna talk about that? Oh yeah. They’re out in like 10 days turnaround.

00:57:24:06 –> 00:57:26:19
I mean, I don’t really want to talk about ’em, but we can. But

00:57:26:25 –> 00:57:30:19
If somebody can turn, California can turn around in 10 days.

00:57:31:10 –> 00:57:39:28
You got a, you got a Democrat state that can turn it around way faster than Utah. We got problems. Alright, let’s give ’em a call. I just want to, I just want to give this

00:57:40:05 –> 00:57:41:16
G I’m just gonna sit back, give

00:57:41:16 –> 00:57:45:11
This gal, see what, see what he or she has to say. ’cause we want some answers.

00:57:45:12 –> 00:57:47:18
Find out if they’re gonna email first or hit your card.

00:57:49:08 –> 00:57:57:26
Hello, you have reached the Utah Wildlife Administrative Services Office. Please have your social security number ready or customer ID for the next agent.

00:57:57:27 –> 00:57:58:25
Get the customer ID you

00:57:58:29 –> 00:58:07:11
Like. If you experience an extended hold time social and are unable, unable. KU wait. Social. Please keep in mind that our agents are available 24 hours a day, seven days before

00:58:07:11 –> 00:58:08:20

00:58:08:20 –> 00:58:17:01
Call may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance purposes. That’s right. And by continuing with this call, you agree to have your call recorded. Dude,

00:58:17:04 –> 00:58:18:14
Thank you. Boom. Do it.

00:58:19:19 –> 00:58:20:13
May I have your name please?

00:58:20:20 –> 00:58:21:10
My name’s Jason.

00:58:21:27 –> 00:58:23:12
Okay. And what can I help you with today, Jason?

00:58:23:20 –> 00:58:31:28
Well, I was just wondering, when are you guys gonna start charging cards? I want my card charged for like a deer tag here in Utah. Okay.

00:58:32:03 –> 00:58:52:19
Well we are currently conducting the draw process, so lemme see. So what’s gonna happen is, one moment I have to pull up the exact statement. Also, as of right now, we, we don’t have an exact time for when credit cards will be charged. We’re currently conducting the draw process and the results will be released on or before May 29th. Oh,

00:58:53:20 –> 00:58:58:14
You gotta, so I think, am I wrong? Like you gotta know more. You’ve gotta know.

00:58:58:23 –> 00:59:03:05
That’s really all we know at this point. We, we don’t have any information to give out.

00:59:04:06 –> 00:59:14:28
Okay. So you’re not gonna run higher up keeping all that. Do you think I should, do you think I should check my pending charges? Like this week or early midweek or end of week or next week? What do you think?

00:59:15:07 –> 00:59:32:22
Well, so if you, it gives you until June 15th to pay. But you might, lemme see, because I believe they’re gonna start charging soon, but I believe credit card charge. Yeah. Charging your credit. Yeah. We, we really don’t have an exact time for when credit cards will be charged.

00:59:33:12 –> 00:59:39:29
Okay. Are you guys, do you figure you’re gonna hit cards before you drop emails? Most, like, that’s kinda the way it works, right?

00:59:42:07 –> 00:59:45:25
We, we don’t know. Not sure we, we really have no idea. Not

00:59:45:25 –> 00:59:48:18
Sure. All righty.

00:59:48:22 –> 00:59:50:02
We only know what we’ve been told so far.

00:59:50:17 –> 00:59:55:01
Yeah, I don’t blame you. Yeah, no, I just super excited. Did you apply?

00:59:56:10 –> 00:59:59:20
No, I, I didn’t ’cause I actually, I really only hunt in Texas.

01:00:00:02 –> 01:00:07:23
Oh, okay. All right. Well everything’s bigger in Texas, so. Alright guy. Well, I appreciate it. Have a great day.

01:00:09:07 –> 01:00:10:12
You have a very good day. All

01:00:10:12 –> 01:00:11:23
Right. Talk to you later. Come on.

01:00:12:11 –> 01:00:18:22
The most bureaucratic red tape answer. He almost went there a couple times almost.

01:00:18:29 –> 01:00:19:29
I know. And he knows where he’s,

01:00:19:29 –> 01:00:25:08
And then I, I even started talking the one time and I realized, oh, I can’t talk. He’s the only one dude on the phone right now.

01:00:25:12 –> 01:00:27:04
He’d be like, wait, I thought I was talking to Jason

01:00:28:16 –> 01:00:41:19
All’s, he almost said we’re running cars. Let me find the statement that we’re running credit cards soon as, no, I don’t have anything to tell you Mr. Gordon. I mean, he’s reading it out loud and then he just says, I have nothing to report. I

01:00:41:19 –> 01:00:55:25
Know. All right, we’re gonna interject a quick update to the podcast. About 45 minutes after the phone call took place you to started charging credit cards. We’re gonna get some comments from Jason, Adam on that. And then we’ll get back to the regular podcast.

01:00:56:09 –> 01:00:58:07
Just wants to keep his job in this Covid era,

01:00:58:17 –> 01:01:09:20
But we know better. We know better. We knew better when we called him and then it wasn’t 45 minutes. I know. After that call, I know that started happening. We started getting,

01:01:09:24 –> 01:01:11:06
Getting charges. People

01:01:11:06 –> 01:01:11:28
Were getting charged for.

01:01:12:06 –> 01:01:15:28
Yeah, we were getting charges just for general and stuff. We knew, we knew the game was

01:01:16:13 –> 01:01:16:19
Way,

01:01:16:25 –> 01:01:23:06
And, and, and think about this, we decided to have a podcast. We have a podcast we call the state cold

01:01:23:06 –> 01:01:24:25
Call. Yeah. Just for fun. It’s

01:01:24:25 –> 01:01:27:07
Just 45 minutes before they go ahead and start charging cards. But

01:01:27:07 –> 01:01:31:01
He’s maintaining results will be out by May 29th.

01:01:31:03 –> 01:01:38:04
Okay. Now he’s doing what he’s told to do. Yes. And he’s a liar. Okay. How do you the inside think about this. You’re an employee.

01:01:38:13 –> 01:01:48:11
He knows what’s what’s going on in the, in the back room or been going on. That’s right. And the programming that’s about to hit send and crushing cards by the tens of thousands. That’s right.

01:01:48:19 –> 01:02:12:10
And my conscience tells me I shouldn’t be a liar, but I have a job and it’s telling me to lie anyway. He’s got some internal struggles going on. Just fine. Be honest about it. He, he knows that they’re gonna, they’re getting ready to turn the key and allow all these cars to be charged. And he’s trying to read the script as best he can. He’s wishing we didn’t call. I, it’s kind of like, kind of feel bad putting him in that position for just a split second. Yeah. That’s all. It’s funny,

01:02:12:10 –> 01:02:17:00
But it’s kinda like your buddy that’s already told you he’s got a charge, but don’t tell anybody. I want to keep this under my hat.

01:02:17:19 –> 01:02:19:02
It gets out faster that way, way.

01:02:20:08 –> 01:02:24:17
This between me and you, I get to charge and I’m pretty excited. We’re gonna kill a giant, but don’t tell anybody.

01:02:26:10 –> 01:02:26:23
That’s

01:02:26:23 –> 01:02:27:05
Kind of

01:02:27:05 –> 01:02:46:26
What it’s like. I know. But anyway, good times. We just thought we’d come back on here and just let everybody know cards are being charged, have been charged. Go check your credit cards, your gal’s card, whoever’s card you used. If you got a charge, figure out what it’s for. Let us know. And you can kind of plan a tag coming maybe based

01:02:46:26 –> 01:03:02:23
On the tag fee in most cases, except for the once in a lifetime. You non-residents are really, you got, you got five options if you applied for all five of them. They’re all the same fees. So there’s nothing no telling until we get emails. Hopefully within several days, but it’s sometimes over a week. So who knows.

01:03:02:23 –> 01:03:08:28
Sometimes it’s early to mid next week. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be by Friday, who knows? But good luck. Pretty funny stuff. Luck. Yeah. Good luck y’all. And

01:03:08:28 –> 01:03:10:25
We’re back to the regular podcast from here on

01:03:11:02 –> 01:03:21:05
Outs. Call Cal, call me Cal kamai. Cal call me. Hey, it’s Cal Miah they say, but I like calling ’em Cal Callie in Nevada. Let’s, I mean, these results, Bronson, they’re, they’re next week.

01:03:22:05 –> 01:03:23:10
Well that’s, yeah,

01:03:24:22 –> 01:03:27:07
You have reached endow licensing.com.

01:03:27:22 –> 01:03:28:11
Can I help you?

01:03:28:14 –> 01:03:41:26
Yeah, I was just wondering, I’ve heard the draw may happen fairly quick. I just was gonna verify how things are looking. I know your, your deadline was May 4th, your points was May 11. How are we looking over there?

01:03:42:05 –> 01:03:46:04
The results will be made public on or before May 22nd.

01:03:46:18 –> 01:04:07:28
Okay. Okay. Alright. Well, I’m super excited about it. I just thought I’d give you a holler. I I, you know, on paper you guys are gonna beat Utah and they, and their deadline was clear back in March. And so anyway, congrats to you guys. We’re excited about it. Are you? Well, thank you. Are you excited? Yeah. Are you excited?

01:04:08:20 –> 01:04:09:29
I am, I am.

01:04:10:26 –> 01:04:11:23
It’s a great time of year.

01:04:12:12 –> 01:04:15:26
It’ll, yeah. Yeah. It’ll be, it’ll be nice. We’ll see how things go.

01:04:16:00 –> 01:04:20:12
It’s like Christmas, just money flies outta your account just like Christmas. But we’re a little happier about it.

01:04:20:19 –> 01:04:27:04
Just like that. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. No kidding. And then of course you have to buy all the new stuff to go with the new tags, right?

01:04:27:07 –> 01:04:32:28
That’s right. That’s right. And everything that Santa didn’t get you, you gotta go out and buy. That’s right.

01:04:33:27 –> 01:04:35:00
Exactly. Yes.

01:04:35:01 –> 01:04:39:11
Yes. I need you to talk to, that’s why it’s like Christmas. I need you to talk to my wife. You mind.

01:04:40:01 –> 01:04:41:22
You don’t want me to talk to your wife.

01:04:42:21 –> 01:04:51:07
Okay. All right. Well, I sure appreciate you. Hope you have a great day. Just thought I’d twist somebody’s ear this, this afternoon on, on getting a tag, so,

01:04:52:09 –> 01:04:53:06
All right, well, good luck.

01:04:53:07 –> 01:04:54:06
Okay. Charge my card.

01:04:55:23 –> 01:04:58:19
I will do that. Okay. Thank you. Even if you don’t get a tag, how’s that? Okay.

01:04:58:19 –> 01:05:03:08
That, that’s fine. If it comes from Cal Kamai or Endow or whoever, that’s fine. All all,

01:05:04:05 –> 01:05:04:19
Alright,

01:05:04:25 –> 01:05:14:29
All talk to you later. You have a good afternoon. All right, you too. Bye bye. That’s a different, there’s a different thing. Attitude. There’s a difference in attitude. All right everybody. Are we done, Bronson?

01:05:14:29 –> 01:05:16:28
Yep. Be safe. Good luck in the draw.

01:05:17:14 –> 01:05:18:14
Let us know if you get a tag.
