00:00:16:20 –> 00:00:28:17
Hey everybody. Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, John Peterson. Logan Marshall. Hi. Y’all doing today, Logan, how you doing? I’m doing great. All right. Are you lying? No, I’m not even lying. Yeah, gen Z’s lying. John, how are you doing? I’m doing

00:00:28:17 –> 00:00:30:12
Good. Like I love the amped up intro.

00:00:30:16 –> 00:00:40:06
Yeah, I love it. John. John and I. Adam. We’re doing good. Me and it’s Wyoming Elk Deadline. Bronson, how many guys have we talked to today?

00:00:40:19 –> 00:00:41:14
Too many to count.

00:00:41:19 –> 00:00:41:28
Yeah.

00:00:42:12 –> 00:00:44:26
So next we, next Wednesday is a holiday

00:00:46:07 –> 00:00:47:02
Here at Epic Outdoors.

00:00:47:10 –> 00:00:48:11
Cinco Day. Ferero.

00:00:50:07 –> 00:01:02:26
Yeah. Arizona, antelope and Elk applications will be done. There’ll be no more. More talking about it. I like it when a state finishes and there’s no option to go back in change. Yeah. There’s no, okay, so I

00:01:03:07 –> 00:01:05:28
Think about Wyoming, you got three months to plug and play.

00:01:06:03 –> 00:01:16:24
Plug and play, and then do points in the summer. Everybody has to do points in the summer. You have to touch that application twice. Brutal. At minimum. Whatever. Yeah. Hey, whatever. That’s what we do here at Epic Outdoors.

00:01:17:11 –> 00:01:22:18
Lots going on over on this side of the office. Logan, John, you get your packing, your crates and TVs. And we’ve

00:01:22:18 –> 00:01:23:18
Got And sawdust.

00:01:23:20 –> 00:01:24:21
And sawdust. Sawdust.

00:01:24:21 –> 00:01:26:22
You’ve got garbage building tools. We’ve

00:01:26:22 –> 00:01:29:12
Got stuff going on for the expo. Huh? Busy.

00:01:29:18 –> 00:01:32:08
We had to clean up just so you guys could walk over here. Trust the other side.

00:01:33:09 –> 00:01:35:14
Adam and I do a inventory every night.

00:01:35:29 –> 00:01:39:11
Need a hard hat and a vest or yellow, a vest to walk on this side. Yeah, it’s true.

00:01:39:11 –> 00:01:40:00
It’s true. Yeah.

00:01:40:13 –> 00:01:41:10
But hey, speaking up,

00:01:41:10 –> 00:01:42:12
Looking to have an accident

00:01:42:26 –> 00:01:44:11
Two weeks away or roughly I see

00:01:44:16 –> 00:01:45:11
Somebody where it’s, and

00:01:45:11 –> 00:01:49:22
If, if you wanna see what we’ve been doing, come by our booth at the expo, it’s gonna be epic. It’s pretty cool.

00:01:50:11 –> 00:02:17:17
All right. Little plan on words, John. You’d love to do that kind of stuff. All right. All right. So let’s see. We want to, we wanna call Kurt today. He, he’s got a little something, something he wants to share about the sheep part of the expo. And of course Kurt is a in instrumental part of here at Epic Outdoors. Deals with a lot of our behind the scenes stuff that we don’t talk a ton about. But anyway, is you think he’s ready for a call, John? Yep,

00:02:17:28 –> 00:02:18:09
He’s ready.

00:02:18:18 –> 00:02:20:20
Holler. Let’s talk to all things expo and Sheep camp.

00:02:21:02 –> 00:02:21:12
All right.

00:02:29:25 –> 00:02:30:05
Hello.

00:02:30:25 –> 00:02:31:02
Hey.

00:02:32:06 –> 00:02:33:16
What you doing? Hey, I’m,

00:02:34:14 –> 00:02:35:04
Oh, not much

00:02:37:04 –> 00:02:38:05
Cruising down the highway or

00:02:38:06 –> 00:02:40:02
You’ve been ice fish yet? What are you doing?

00:02:41:01 –> 00:02:44:18
I’ve been ice fishing once and now I’m headed to a doctor’s appointment, so. Oh,

00:02:45:07 –> 00:02:47:23
Unfortunately you must be 50 year older.

00:02:48:23 –> 00:02:49:16
Not yet. Probably

00:02:49:21 –> 00:02:50:24
Not quite. You’re young. No, no,

00:02:50:24 –> 00:02:52:16
No. I’m, you’re actually young, aren’t you?

00:02:52:29 –> 00:02:55:21
I know, I, yeah, sure. That’s what I’m gonna go with.

00:02:56:12 –> 00:02:57:06
Younger than us.

00:02:57:06 –> 00:02:58:05
Younger than us. Yeah.

00:02:58:18 –> 00:02:59:21
Kurt, why don’t we, you’ll hear that

00:02:59:24 –> 00:03:02:06
All you and act like I’m 12, right? So

00:03:02:12 –> 00:03:21:09
We wanna, we wanna talk about a few things maybe, of course we can talk about Sheep Camp, talk a little bit about that. Yeah. And then maybe even get into a little bit more about kind of some of the things you’ve been working on here at Epic. So let’s start off with, yeah, sure. Let’s start off with Sheep Camp. Why don’t you crank it out a little bit. Like what do we got? What can we look forward

00:03:21:19 –> 00:03:30:09
Into? What are we run, Bailey, is there something new going on? It feels like there’s a little behind the scenes energy something. What are we, what are we gotta

00:03:30:09 –> 00:04:31:21
Look forward to? So there’s a, I know that it’s a big change, but there is a little bit Sheep Camp, not as far as the Sheep Camp event itself, but in years past, sheep Camp has SFW, you know, with SFW being the, the Conservation organization here in the state of Utah. Well they, they have partnered up with the Utah Wild Sheep, where now it is event that will be put on kind of jointly by both organizations, kinda like the Hunt Expo is put on by the Mul Deer Foundation and NSFW Sheep Camp moving forward will be kind of under both of the umbrella, which will allow basically the funds that we raise from Sheep Camp to kind of go back to both organizations. So it literally will be a joint kind of, I dunno what you wanna call it, a partnership. And so they’ll put on sheep camp together. So, which is, I mean, the whole goal of Sheep Camp has always been, let’s let the, the conservation organizations put sheep on the mountain and

00:04:31:23 –> 00:04:33:24
Then you guys put, then she camps all sheep hunters in the fields.

00:04:33:27 –> 00:05:20:23
Sheep unders though. Exactly. Yeah. But at the same time, they do go hand in hand. And there’s been times in the past where, you know, maybe we focused a little too much on the sheep hunter and now this will allow us to kind of align with, you know, just kind of all the things going on in Utah related to sheep as well as anything that SFW is working on. So, and like in the past, I mean, sheep camp’s entire mission has been to, I had an opportunity for the average Joe to go on a sheep hunt, which I don’t have to tell you guys that feels like that’s even, I mean this is 14, 15 years now, but I mean the price of sheep hunts right now, I mean it’s, even that cause is even a little more attractive now when you’re paying, you know, I mean so much for these sheep hunts. So anyway.

00:05:21:11 –> 00:05:30:00
Yeah. Well, pretty awesome. So at the end of the day, you’re still giving away a ton of sheep hunts, right? At the, at the Hunt expo? Yep.

00:05:30:07 –> 00:06:27:17
Yeah, we’re currently planning on 10 and like in years past, you can win any of the four species. And one thing to remember is we, we still have our hunts where you have to be there to win six of those hunts. You must be present, but four of them you do not. So, you know, if you’re like, well hey, I really like what you guys are doing. I, of course I want another sheep. But you could go out to sheep camp.net and there’s still all four species that you could purchase tickets and not have to be there. One fun thing we’ve added this year for those that are gonna be there is we have two hunts this year that you can pick your own hunt. So we’re finding that more and more of our sheet camp attendees are like, well, you know, I really need a desert, or I’d really love to go on a stone sheet hunt. So this year there’s two hunts where you can pick. So if you win, if you win, we pull your name out, you tell us what you want to go on, you, you wanna go on a rocky hunt, well then we’ll go find you a rocky. How about a, you’d rather go on a desert.

00:06:28:02 –> 00:06:29:03
How about a go be Arga?

00:06:29:21 –> 00:06:30:11
Yeah, how about that?

00:06:31:19 –> 00:06:44:19
Go be your high before Ali. Is that, is that included under this, I mean about 150 Gs or something like that? Or does it have to be North American is, I’m gonna read the fine print here before I buy my tickets. ’cause if it’s not on there, yeah, I’m just gonna pick a sheep.

00:06:45:24 –> 00:06:47:12
Yeah, there you go. Yeah.

00:06:47:18 –> 00:06:47:27
Well

00:06:47:27 –> 00:06:58:23
Good. What’s the major somewhere so, so to the attendees, the conservation really changed. The conservation aspect’s. Awesome. But to the, of the attendees, what’s different than last year?

00:07:00:13 –> 00:07:41:09
Not a whole lot really. I mean Okay. That’s why I mentioned it a minute ago. The overall experience for the attendee really hasn’t changed. Okay. Unfortunately, we had to trim down a couple of sheep hunts this year because just the cost is just going through the roof. But yeah, one thing that people of often think about sheep camp is, oh, these are donated hunts. No, we pay full price. Just like if you went and booked them. Yeah. I mean we pay full a hundred percent same price as if you were to book ’em on your own. They’re fully paid for. I mean, granted, the hunter has to get there and we always, you know, they have to pay their own tip. But yeah, so once you win the hunt, the transaction’s over with sheet camp, we, we hand you off to the outfitter, like you just purchased that hunt for full price.

00:07:41:13 –> 00:08:15:23
And so they’ve, they’ve gone up in price. So we’ve had to reduce a couple. But each year, if you’ve ever attended our event, you know that hey, if things are going pretty well, we literally try to put every dollar right back into the event and to buy more. She hunts. So there’s been a couple years where, you know what we were, we were doing pretty well and sold a few extra tickets. So we gave away a couple extra she hunts on the fly. And we will continue to do that if we can. So, but as it sits right now, there’ll be 10 hunts again. There’ll be, I mean, there’ll be a chance for at least three. I mean, if you needed any of the four, let’s just say that it is in the rules, Adam, so you is four. Oh, okay.

00:08:15:23 –> 00:08:18:06
Alright. North American sheep, north American.

00:08:18:06 –> 00:08:27:28
Alright. Yeah, exactly. You’re gonna have that opportunity to win just, just any of the four, at least three times. So with dolls, a couple extras. So anyway. Okay,

00:08:28:00 –> 00:08:38:29
Well that’s great. Well, I’m looking, we’re looking right here at a list of ’em. It looks like maybe Hunts three and four missing for a minute. You’re probably still deciding what those are gonna be. I don’t know. Well,

00:08:38:29 –> 00:08:40:21
It just says two through four up there, aren’t you? Or

00:08:40:21 –> 00:08:42:17
Two through four. Okay. Yeah, if

00:08:42:17 –> 00:08:48:11
You look down below, then the, the detail, there’ll be a doll, another doll, and then it should be a pickier species one.

00:08:48:11 –> 00:08:50:09
So a pickier species. Okay. All

00:08:50:09 –> 00:09:54:03
Right. Yeah. Now keep in mind too, that’s another key part about sheep camp is, you know, we’ve tried to make it fair for everybody. So those, those hunts two through four are the limited hunts where no matter what, the same, every single person in that room could have only purchased five tickets. And so the odds are exactly the same for everybody for those hunts. Only one of ’em is you’ve never killed a sheep. Another one is anybody. And then the other one’s to pick your own. And again, that so everybody, that way, you know, again, it goes back to that mission of keeping it for the average Joe Hunter. You know, whether that’s the only ticket you buy for the entire event or, or not. I mean, you’ve got the same amount of odds as anybody in that room. You can’t go and purchase $10,000 worth of tickets and increase your odds. So we have plenty of other hunts for that. But those, those three hunts are restricted to that. And then the very first hunt, you’ll have to kind of show up to see what we’re gonna do with that. But there’ll be four hunts just by walking in the door and getting that a hundred dollars package. You’re gonna have the same odds as everybody else for four sheep pots. So

00:09:54:05 –> 00:10:05:01
Yeah. And those are capped, right? I can’t remember if it’s like 1,750. Yeah. Due to fire restrictions year, those, when those are gone, they’re gone. You can’t, you can’t let anybody more in or more people in if you want to. Yeah,

00:10:06:00 –> 00:10:47:00
Exactly. We’re about half sold right now, the last two years in a row since the salt palaces made us go to this restriction we’ve sold out the day before. So if you’re, if you’re kind of on the fence or you’re like, oh, I haven’t bought my tickets yet, just go at least get your entry into the building that way. That’s good. And you can always buy more tickets when you get there. But if you’re thinking about coming, go get your tickets and get that over. ’cause we will sell out. We have the last couple years and yeah, it’s 1750 and once we reach that, we’re done. So keep that in mind too that’s, that tells you what your odds are immediately. I mean, you’ve got a one, and well keep in mind, everybody only has five tickets and if somebody puts ’em all in one worst case scenario, you’ve got that one and 1,750 chances. Yeah.

00:10:47:07 –> 00:10:47:22
And you got the

00:10:47:22 –> 00:10:49:22
One, there’s no other tickets that can be sold. So,

00:10:50:01 –> 00:10:54:17
And you got the one that you can’t ever kill the sheep. So that limits it dramatically right there too. So.

00:10:55:07 –> 00:10:57:23
Exactly. Yeah. It’s fun to watch people if you’ve never killed a sheep.

00:10:57:28 –> 00:10:58:09
Crazy.

00:10:58:18 –> 00:11:44:23
Yeah, it’s fun. It’s fun to watch people win stuff. I mean, it’s just awesome. So yeah. Yeah. So this is Saturday, February 15th, that’s when it’ll take place. And then you also talk about memberships and different things that are also, you know, right on sheep camp.net. Right. And then there’s a fax fax button you can click on that, learn a little bit more about it. But basically these are just, this is just a, a raffle type opportunity to be able to go on 10 different shepa. Yeah. So anyway, it’s just, where else can you do that? It’s, I mean, of course, you know, some of these different, you know, conservation events and things like that, but they’re, they’re limited in opening number on, on places you can go and watch guys watch 10 different people or whatever win hunts like this. Pretty crazy.

00:11:46:12 –> 00:12:10:10
Yeah. I, I will highlight one change. We changed the, the ticket to get in to only $50 this year. In years past, it’s actually been a hundred. And the reason we did that is we have a lot of people who are like, Hey, I wanna b bring my wife and kids. Well if you think about that, what we just mentioned, we can only put 1,750 people in the room. So, you know, by just letting people come in free, we ultimately lose out on losing revenue.

00:12:10:19 –> 00:12:10:28
Yeah,

00:12:11:01 –> 00:13:05:16
Yeah, exactly. Which ultimately affects the people in the room. Like I said, we try to take every dollar and turn it back into a sheet hunt. Well if there’s 50 to a hundred people that didn’t have to pay. So what we did this year is we revisited that. And so, and then people are like always like, well hey, my wife doesn’t honor. How can my 3-year-old son win? Well, we’re gonna have an alternate prize for the wife and the kids. If they’d rather go to Disney World for four with, for four people for a week, we’ll let ’em do that. And versus going on a sheep hunt. So there’s still plenty of things for the kids. We’ll have some kid only drawings as well, or some raffles. So, so if you’re sitting there thinking, well, gosh, I gotta go spend 50 bucks to get my wife and kids there, keep in mind they’re gonna be eligible for that Disney World trip. Yeah. And I mean, if the husband wins and he wants to go on a sheep hunt, great. But if he’d rather go to Disney, then that’s fine too. So, but there, there is some opportunity we get that asked every year. Like, why do I have to pay for my kids? Well that’s why it takes, it really is for everybody in the house. It’s

00:13:05:16 –> 00:13:07:09
A head count off the 1750. Yeah,

00:13:07:11 –> 00:14:04:18
Exactly. But we did lower it. We took that into, don’t get me wrong, we would, we would rather kids come for free. We don’t want to charge. No, we, we hate doing it. But it’s because of the fire restrictions and the Yeah. Only putting so many people in there. Yeah. I would also highlight too, the event starts at 11, runs from 11 to one. We will be done by one for the hunts that you have to be present to root when you do need to be in the grand ballroom. Can’t just be at the expo somewhere. You have to be inside the, the doors. And, but we do open the doors at 9:00 AM and you guys have been there. It’s just pure chaos. And it’s one of the most exciting events of the entire expo. And I would recommend people are there at 9, 9 30, get in there, get your seat saved, sit down, you know, then maybe go do some other stuff. But if you don’t, you might end up just standing around, which is fine too. But it’s, it’s quite the, the event. It’s definitely not something you just roll in at 11 o’clock and, and think that, oh, you know what, this is gonna be easy. And I, I get there early and plan on it.

00:14:04:18 –> 00:14:45:18
Especially, especially if you didn’t get your tickets already from the convention hall a day or two prior. Wanna put ’em in, put them in the bin. But I, I usually try to do that. Yeah. Because it’s a, it’s a bit, it’s busy there. You’re gonna wait in line if you wait to put all your tickets in on Saturday, which is fine, you got time to do it. But if you get there Thursday, go buy the full sheep camp booth, I should say. And get your tickets. Your you’re limited and any others you’re gonna buy, throw ’em in. And if you do buy more that Saturday, throw them in then. But just kind of helps. You’re a little less stressed. Saturday walking in, there’re like, oh cow, there, there’s a lot of people in line waiting to put tickets in. Exactly. Getting their tickets. So. Yep. That’s my tip of the week. Ah, I like it. So Kurt,

00:14:45:28 –> 00:14:46:07
I like it.

00:14:46:14 –> 00:14:51:00
How many of these hunts are just exclusively for me and Adam and Jason can’t. What do you mean put in

00:14:51:03 –> 00:14:53:13
For that? You’ve never killed a sheep. There’s three, right?

00:14:54:09 –> 00:14:55:06
What do you mean just

00:14:55:06 –> 00:14:56:21
One? There’s only one. Just one. There’s

00:14:57:16 –> 00:14:58:00
To hunt there

00:14:58:03 –> 00:14:59:01
For never kill a sheep.

00:14:59:14 –> 00:15:00:17
Yes. And one

00:15:00:17 –> 00:15:07:06
That’s, oh, John always wants it catered to him. A little bit selfish sometimes, you know, when it comes, comes to hunting. Don’t want daughter applying where I apply.

00:15:07:22 –> 00:15:17:07
Is there one where you’re, you’re, you’re a kid that’s won a sheet punt, but you want that waived so that you can just be in, I mean, John John’s a little bitter on some of this stuff. I mean,

00:15:19:09 –> 00:15:48:15
Anybody has kids, he, they understand. No, she punts for kids. I understand. I understand where you come from. John Spoil. Little chills, little rats. I I’m gonna be hurt hearing from my daughter. It’s all good. Well, this is good stuff, Kurt. This is awesome. I know you’ve been in, in instrumental in this from the beginning and it’s just awesome. It’s, it’s a lot of fun. Well, there’s, it’s electric in that room and it’s also pretty stuffy. There’s like 1,750 people in a room that’s probably really rated for 500 in knows.

00:15:48:20 –> 00:15:49:18
Yeah. It’s it’s

00:15:49:18 –> 00:15:53:01
A big place. Hey, we just do what they tell us pretty 1750.

00:15:53:17 –> 00:15:55:16
It’s awesome. It does. Yeah. No, it’s good.

00:15:55:20 –> 00:16:04:09
And keep in mind too, with us partnering now with Utah Wild Sheep, they’ll have some, they’ll actually be an 11th ton there. So they, they’ll be selling tickets for their desert.

00:16:04:09 –> 00:16:07:00
Oh, they got a desert. How they sell out though. I, I’ve been told.

00:16:07:08 –> 00:16:30:05
Yeah. And their tickets are even better odds. I think they’re only selling 700 tickets or seven 50. So that’s another thing. I think they’re halfway sold. If, if you’re interested in a desert, check out Utah Wild Sheep. Go to their website and just get, I mean, if, if it’s something that you’re thinking about it, I’d go get the ticket now. ’cause you can go buy those right now. And there’s only a limited number. Once they sell out, they’re done. But they’ll be there as well. So

00:16:30:05 –> 00:16:33:18
They’ll be some, they got a booth there at the expo two, you can stop by before Saturday and

00:16:33:21 –> 00:16:36:00
They’ll be right next to us right next door. So

00:16:36:01 –> 00:16:39:18
Did they Yeah. Did they move down there? They always been right next to you?

00:16:40:14 –> 00:17:08:06
No, they’re literally right next to us. Okay. So we’re in booth 2044, which is along that back wall. We’ve been there for 10 years now. Back wall’s the best place to be you if you, if you’re looking for us. Yeah, there’s, yeah, exactly. We’re right down the street from you guys. Yeah. And then right next to us literally is Utah wild sheep. And they’ll be, they’ll have some raffles going on as well. So, but yeah, again, so we’ll technically we’ll have 11. She hunts there, but the one won’t be drawn there. And well, maybe it will, maybe if they sell out, maybe they’ll draw there. But

00:17:08:12 –> 00:17:09:03
They’ll do it.

00:17:09:14 –> 00:17:10:11
Yeah. No kidding. Jason.

00:17:10:11 –> 00:17:17:12
What? It’s a great deal. Still buy out the remaining ones and get a cheaper priced desert hunt. Just buy with whatever’s left. Just buy the remaining tickets. I don’t need a desert. You know your odds.

00:17:17:16 –> 00:17:18:01
I don’t need a desert.

00:17:18:03 –> 00:17:19:27
Yeah, you might need ’em for your second slam.

00:17:20:21 –> 00:17:23:25
I need a true blue freaking rocky. That’s what I need. True blue.

00:17:23:29 –> 00:17:25:06
I need a true blue, rocky.

00:17:25:09 –> 00:17:37:11
You need my points in Utah then. So yeah, I’ve got, yeah, I’m ready to draw. So in fact, are you really, Jason and I were talking about this the other day, life’s too short to wait for tags and I’m ready to, are you ready to draw a tag and higher

00:17:37:22 –> 00:17:46:12
The downside? Do you wait for one of the janky callies or do you hold out for, you know, and the only reason I call it Jan is I don’t care because

00:17:46:12 –> 00:17:47:04
I’m wanting a rock. Because

00:17:47:04 –> 00:17:50:19
You have one. I want a real rock. I just want to rock it. Yeah. You know?

00:17:51:13 –> 00:17:54:18
Yeah. I have 22 points. And for Rockies, because for

00:17:54:22 –> 00:17:55:09
Residents, dude, growing

00:17:55:09 –> 00:18:05:07
Up in Wyoming, growing up in Wyoming, we thought Rockies were the only thing that were cool. Then I moved to Utah and there’s this stupid desert thing they kept talking about. I’m like, oh, there’s sheep in the desert. I didn’t know that.

00:18:06:09 –> 00:18:07:22
I had not, what are they doing down?

00:18:09:05 –> 00:18:09:27
Yeah, exactly.

00:18:11:23 –> 00:18:12:07
Alright,

00:18:12:12 –> 00:18:17:05
Better. So I, all I have is rocky points, but yeah. Adam, we need to talk. I’m ready to draw.

00:18:17:07 –> 00:18:27:03
So let’s bring it on. Let’s do it this year. Yeah. That’s what thing. Even if it’s dry, we talk about this a lot. We hunt sheep, goats, stags, and what else? Stags

00:18:27:03 –> 00:18:29:27
Drought. Cheap goats and anything else that,

00:18:30:09 –> 00:18:30:23
Anything with horn

00:18:30:24 –> 00:18:33:21
Doesn’t matter. That’s right. That’s right. That’s righting.

00:18:33:23 –> 00:18:36:04
Doesn’t grow an annual antler, protrusion,

00:18:36:05 –> 00:18:38:13
Even moose, whatever. They take them

00:18:38:13 –> 00:18:40:25
When you can get it. So now this is the year, you know, sometimes they’re better

00:18:41:06 –> 00:18:42:04
Orx. Yeah.

00:18:42:12 –> 00:18:42:18
Orx,

00:18:42:26 –> 00:18:49:03
Iex, barbery. Anything weird that you want to throw down? Do do something like that on a bears

00:18:49:03 –> 00:18:50:11
And lions and coyotes. Yeah, that’s right

00:18:50:15 –> 00:18:52:27
Into the desert. Lots of coyotes. He monster.

00:18:53:09 –> 00:18:56:00
All i, all I hear is you’re talking about a lot of spikes at

00:18:56:11 –> 00:19:03:01
Generally a spike. I mean, if we don’t get some rain in southern Utah, I’m telling you it’s, it’s, there’s a lot of truths to what we just said. So

00:19:03:05 –> 00:19:03:29
Springtime tall

00:19:04:00 –> 00:19:07:04
Sheep is, it’s just a big spike. Yeah. It’s really all it is.

00:19:07:11 –> 00:19:14:07
Well, but you know, there’s entire events. I don’t know if you’re aware of this, Kurt, but there’s entire events around getting spike tags.

00:19:15:04 –> 00:19:16:10
Yes, exactly. For sheep.

00:19:16:10 –> 00:19:32:03
So I just, it’s the, I just got back from New Mexico and my daughter’s only criteria is that she wanted an unbroken normal, call it normal looking or you know, we kind of trophy trophy hunted the first half a day we probably shouldn’t have just looking for something.

00:19:32:03 –> 00:19:34:24
Well, and it was really the second day because you couldn’t hunt the

00:19:34:24 –> 00:20:10:06
First day. Yeah. First day got wiped out. We couldn’t even hunt. Yeah. So anyway, but the end of that day we drove up on this little knob and this, this bull flushes a hundred yards from us. Runs out there and stops and stares had one perfectly normal horn. The other one wasn’t broke, it went up and curled like a sheep. A hundred percent. I almost shot it. Yeah. Why wouldn’t I? Almost did. I, I, and she’s like, they’re like, hell, it just stood there dumb. And I’m like, hell, what do you think? It’s kind of cool. No dad, I, I want a normal looking. And then I, I honestly thought that’s kind of cool. It literally curled in a circle and came forward and the other one was

00:20:10:11 –> 00:20:11:27
Straight up. I get it though. I see what she’s talking about.

00:20:11:29 –> 00:20:14:05
Yeah. And, and then I’m thinking, yeah, I kind of want a normal,

00:20:14:13 –> 00:20:15:27
And it was half tamed because this’s been past

00:20:16:20 –> 00:20:18:29
Been shot. It stood there for five minutes. Yeah.

00:20:18:29 –> 00:20:21:06
It might broken 50 yards. Might it might as well been broken.

00:20:21:08 –> 00:20:24:10
Yeah, it was. Anyway, so Yeah, it was wild. It was cool.

00:20:25:02 –> 00:20:26:06
Was that in Wyoming? No,

00:20:26:08 –> 00:20:26:27
No. New Mexico.

00:20:27:07 –> 00:20:28:10
Do they gotta work in Wyoming?

00:20:28:26 –> 00:20:30:25
They probably do. They probably do. Yeah. They’re

00:20:30:25 –> 00:20:32:18
Smart. They’re smarter. They’re smarter in Wyoming.

00:20:34:27 –> 00:20:41:24
Yeah. What’s your Wyoming prediction on elk? Is it gonna be a decent elk, deer, antelope? I mean, what’s your prediction up there?

00:20:42:03 –> 00:20:47:27
Yeah, I, I think elk’s gonna be fine. The deer, the elk herds in, in Wyoming are amazing. Even,

00:20:50:11 –> 00:21:25:28
I mean, elk will eat anything. Right. So they, they did just fine. So the, I mean, we, we focus on the western side of the state, but we, the elk herds has been really, I mean, gosh, they’re, they’re overrun in a lot of places. Bus. Yeah. And I mean, we all know with antelope, antelope just really depends on how much wet water we get. Right? Like, I mean, so the, the antelope numbers are, have already rebounded, but it’s, it could be a tough year if we don’t get water. But one thing we found last year with the deer was we didn’t see a lot of deer, but the ones we saw big were absolutely giants. Like they were really, they were just like, no, no-brainer

00:21:26:12 –> 00:21:28:09
Giants. Tell me more. Tell

00:21:28:09 –> 00:21:32:00
Me more. Yeah, it’s a, that’s, it comes from a lot of people saying that

00:21:32:12 –> 00:21:47:02
It, it was really an interesting year for us. I mean, like, I went with my, my dad and my son and we, we saw three deer and we shot two of ’em and they were mature four points. One with a six by four. I mean, but right when the hunt ended, we saw where,

00:21:47:02 –> 00:21:47:09
Where

00:21:47:21 –> 00:21:51:28
A couple of deer I, yeah. Wyoming. I’m just telling you it’s in Wyoming.

00:21:52:09 –> 00:21:53:05
Western Wyoming.

00:21:54:06 –> 00:22:05:20
We, yeah, Western Wyoming. Thank you. We saw a couple of deer right at the, during the elk hunt when the deer hunt was closed that were like jaw dropper, no-brainers. Really. Like where’s this? Oh yeah. Right out in the desert. Right out the state.

00:22:06:00 –> 00:22:07:18
Okay. We’re narrowing it down. Did you hear that Jason?

00:22:07:27 –> 00:22:08:11
Yeah. Yeah.

00:22:08:14 –> 00:22:09:09
Not, not my country.

00:22:09:24 –> 00:22:13:09
And they’re not migratory. Right. They’re living out in the desert. I’ll

00:22:13:09 –> 00:22:13:22
Bet we could

00:22:13:28 –> 00:22:21:00
Pinpoint it. Just send over a couple of photos. Yeah. Yeah. You guys driving around in the truck or just having a gay old time.

00:22:21:29 –> 00:22:27:21
Exactly. It’s not like there’s a, you know, if I send you a picture with some sagebrush that’ll narrow it down to,

00:22:27:29 –> 00:22:28:14
You never know.

00:22:28:14 –> 00:22:30:28
Basically about half of Wyoming it

00:22:30:28 –> 00:22:32:04
Does, it cut it in half. There’s

00:22:32:07 –> 00:22:36:04
50 50. You’ve got your locations on it. So just start sending a few pictures.

00:22:36:09 –> 00:22:38:22
Yeah. I don’t believe what you just said. I need proof.

00:22:40:17 –> 00:22:46:17
Yeah. Nobody, nobody should be applying. But it made me rethink. ’cause I’ve got a lot of deer points and I keep thinking I’ll wait for the,

00:22:46:20 –> 00:23:01:00
No, there is something to that. Bronson and I have talked a lot about it. Like there’s something to when these populations crash that the, the, the animals that are left on the landscape, even though there was not a lack of vegetation prior for some reason Yeah, they do. Incredible.

00:23:01:03 –> 00:23:46:27
Yeah. It’s just less, there’s less competition for the cream of the crop feed the ice cream plants that they’re called a lot of times, you know, the stuff that’s super desirable. Yeah. There’s fewer deer. There’s, you know, it kind of happens with sheep too when you do a sheep transplant, many times throughout the, the west, the first three to five years after they open, they kill the biggest rams they ever do on that unit. And then as it saturates and they just cover the whole landscape, there’s just a little bit less resource to go around and a little, some of that type of principle they’re in good. If they survived, they’re obviously strong. And, and, and last winter was mild. This one so far is pretty mild up there. And so, you know what we’re seeing on the winter range pitchers looks awesome, looks good. I mean, there’s no indication that this is gonna turn out to be a terrible winter from here on out. So if it doesn’t, I mean, might be a

00:23:46:27 –> 00:23:51:12
Repeat, but there’s a lot of guys that want to see deer and so that you, you, you are

00:23:51:15 –> 00:23:56:07
Yeah. Gotta know that going in. If you need to see a lot of deer, keep going. Yeah. If all that, yeah.

00:23:56:21 –> 00:24:13:23
Yeah. If you wanna see a lot of deer and pick through ’em and just be like, hey, today with great, we saw 20 deer, then you’re not gonna find that in Wyoming, at least in Western Wyoming right now. But what we found last year is if you see a deer and it has horns, you better be checking it out. ’cause they were they gross last year it

00:24:13:23 –> 00:24:18:19
Was, how did you feel about our best ever? How did you feel about killing the majority of the buck? You even saw

00:24:19:06 –> 00:24:21:03
You killed 67%

00:24:21:03 –> 00:24:21:09
The

00:24:21:09 –> 00:24:21:12
Bucks.

00:24:22:18 –> 00:24:25:15
I mean, are you, do you consider yourself a conservationist?

00:24:26:09 –> 00:24:26:18
Yeah.

00:24:27:25 –> 00:24:55:00
Well we, we, well let’s say we only saw three deer that we’re even thinking about. We still saw a few other deer. We hardly saw any. Oh, okay. I mean we went to some canyons where we would see normally 20, 30 deer. Yeah. We glossed up, didn’t see anything. Yeah. You know, we were just like, man, this is weird. But when we did see a deer, they were good. And, and that’s just it too. They were healthy, strong. And like Adam said, right, that those deer survived the winters. I mean, the winter we had a few years ago was so bad that it takes the strong, mature deer to to survive. But to

00:24:55:00 –> 00:24:55:25
Survive. Yeah.

00:24:56:15 –> 00:24:57:07
Man, they look great.

00:24:58:13 –> 00:24:58:24
The do.

00:24:58:24 –> 00:25:08:00
And it makes me think about putting in this year, and I hadn’t, I, I mean I put in for elk and I’m gonna wait and see what happens there. But if I draw elk, I may be putting in for deer as

00:25:08:00 –> 00:25:13:10
Well. You’re tech, you’re non-resident. Even though you’re from there, you’re still non-resident. Do you? I might need a point booster,

00:25:14:07 –> 00:25:16:28
Kurt. Yeah. Well I’m

00:25:16:28 –> 00:25:20:27
For deer, but I, Kurt I have it for deer, but I don’t have it for elk. So

00:25:21:08 –> 00:25:28:12
Lemme just elk. Lemme just give you a tip, Kurt. You wanna make a little extra money? I think you’ve got a captive participant over here.

00:25:29:06 –> 00:25:29:25
I got benies.

00:25:31:08 –> 00:25:32:25
Yeah. Alright, I’ll,

00:25:32:25 –> 00:25:38:13
I’ll do it. I’ll do it for free. ’cause Jason would find a 230 inch deer at the zoo. So

00:25:38:24 –> 00:25:40:10
Without even trying, I would pass

00:25:41:00 –> 00:25:42:24
In the, in the parking lot. So like, I promise

00:25:42:28 –> 00:25:45:13
To make it worth your while, Kurt. I promise. Yeah.

00:25:45:18 –> 00:25:46:17
Don’t throw in a air

00:25:46:17 –> 00:26:15:23
Shovel. I’ll leave it. Drive. Yeah. All right. Well, good stuff. Well, we appreciate all you’re doing on this stuff. It’s nice to visit about Sheep Camp and anybody that’s interested, sheep camp.net. Go get on there, get your tickets, and of course show up in person. That’s what the, that’s what the fun is. Plus it’ll allow you to win anything and everything that they’re giving away. Unless you’re like, John, you gotta a lesson than one. You don’t, haven’t killed a sheep yet or something. So you’ll be eligible for nine of the 10. It’s

00:26:15:23 –> 00:26:17:24
Your best odds, John. Yeah, it’s you. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,

00:26:17:24 –> 00:26:18:28
It’s, they’re speaking to you.

00:26:19:00 –> 00:26:19:19
Don’t miss it.

00:26:19:28 –> 00:26:20:05
Yep.

00:26:20:21 –> 00:26:22:12
Put all your tickets in that one band, John.

00:26:22:24 –> 00:26:27:01
Somebody’s gotta a band in the booth. But I guess that’s what Jan is for. I,

00:26:28:20 –> 00:27:23:11
All right. And then also go to hunt expo.com. Of course these are intertwined at the same venue, same dates. Anyway. So hunt expo.com February 13 to 16. And of course, get your name in for all the $5 tags. It’s gonna be, let’s call it Giving Away or Drawn. And then of course, go visit all the different vendors. We’re gonna be there. Everybody’s, I don’t, I know very few people that don’t show up at the Hunt Expo. I just, if you’re Western big game, you’re, this is kind of the event to go to. There’s a lot of events out there and there’s a lot of valuable and, and, and, you know, events that are worth your time and money to attend. But th this is one that’s, I would say is a, a must attend thing. Like we talk about must apply for states. This is a must attend type event. The hunt expo.com, sheep camp.net. Go do it and we’ll see you there. All right. Kurt, you got anything else?

00:27:25:14 –> 00:27:39:03
No, not much other than, I mean we were talking about some of these Western states like Wyoming. Just wanna let people know from the membership standpoint we’ve, we’ve made some changes with some of our search tools. A little more user friendly. This is, now we’re talking about

00:27:39:20 –> 00:27:39:29
Epic

00:27:40:20 –> 00:27:42:23
Wards, now we’re moving to, let’s move to Epic. Yes.

00:27:43:07 –> 00:27:43:21
Scott with

00:27:43:21 –> 00:28:02:25
Kurt like Utah and Colorado, Arizona, all those states where we kind of have our minimum points queries. We’ve got, we had, we tweaked it. We didn’t really change much. We tweaked it where it’s a little more user friendly. Yeah. So where you can sort by, you know, weapon, you can sort by points, you know, just maybe a little more user friendly.

00:28:03:14 –> 00:29:01:01
The way people use it. Well you can sort by the weapon, which is, you know, the season or whatever. And then the point tier, so let’s just say you did a minimum points Wyoming and you wanted to see all the different tiers from whatever, seven to 12. You could, you could, you could do a little search for that minimum point and then hit, hit go, there you go, there you go. Right there, got Logan here. Running the, running the keyboard. Then you can sort by and then now you can just sort by unit type or points. And so if you hit points there, Logan, and then you’ve got a list of points right there, higher from age 12 load of hype, boom, here’s your options. You can look at ’em and then that way you’re fewer at the 10 point tier. You can say, well I can see what I can look forward to at 12. But then behind you above you would be, you know, hunts that you could’ve drawn last year. And you gotta kind of keep that in mind is what did you have last year? If you have 10 this year, you had nine last year when these odds were made. And so,

00:29:01:12 –> 00:29:15:07
Well it might add some of these refinements that we had come from members. They say, Hey, have you ever thought about this? Exactly. Jason and I or Kurt get hit. Hey, would you ever thought about, you know, because Wyoming’s not a perfect example by weapon. ’cause they don’t really have like archery deer tags

00:29:15:10 –> 00:29:15:29
And all be

00:29:16:02 –> 00:29:39:09
Ones. But yeah, like in other states, like in Arizona, you want crank it out. You want to filter it by, okay, I wanna see the archery elk altogether. What can I draw with my points? And then late rifle or muzzle it or whatever else. Same thing with other states like Colorado, you know, rifle hunts versus muzz loader archery. And it just allows you to separate it instead of have to just plow through it all. You know, with a mix match you can, you can sort it by weapon type.

00:29:39:10 –> 00:30:19:17
Yeah. Like right there, Logan just did, did a Arizona deer just because it was quick and easy. Did Arizona deer sorted it by by weapon, boom. Up come all the deer options. Or you can do a quick touch of the button, sort it by points, touch of the button, sort it by unit, which would be numerical order or you know, ordered by character by alphabet. And then you can go through and look at your different units and whatnot if you, and that just a quick way to get to the unit that you might be interested in. Yeah, I, I don’t know. Anyway, just other options that some of the members and friends of ours that have said, Hey, this is kind of cool, I wish you could do this. And then pretty soon Kurt makes it happen. We appreciate it Kurt.

00:30:20:12 –> 00:30:33:00
Yeah, no problem. So, and then I guess one other highlight is just in Utah we’ve expanded to include everything including the general hunts, even dedicated hunter for those, for the residents, CWM U. So, but you

00:30:33:00 –> 00:30:41:18
Would click like your limited entry units and then if you want to do the general or dedicated, you click on that and now you can go do that search for that whole separate Yeah.

00:30:41:29 –> 00:31:09:27
Option. Exactly. There minimum both a minimum search and then just even the odds themselves. So yeah, so just some small add-ons like that. I mean, one side note, if you haven’t mentioned it already, and I mean every state’s out there, every single one of ’em. So if you’re that person like us where we’re talking about Wyoming deer already, that’s been, you know, every state, every single one’s updated, ready to go. So it’s really cool as you’re geeking out on all your applications this year, whether it’s due or not, you can start doing all your research now. Well,

00:31:09:27 –> 00:31:34:03
And we appreciate that coming out timely, I think too, and Adam and I are dealing with a lot of different guys that are calling in. It’s like what happens in Arizona if a guy has a, a large number of points could do the Kaibab early rifle or late rifle or whatever it is that dictates what you might do in all of these other states. So sometimes you are looking up points that, that aren’t coming due applications that aren’t coming due, but do make a difference in your overall

00:31:34:18 –> 00:32:06:25
Strategy. Yeah. If he’s thinking I’ve got enough to guarantee an Arizona or Kaibab tag and I can kind of bank on that, even though I apply for that very last by June 3rd or whatever, he can, you know, know that early on you can go analyze that and steer clear of it on all the other stuff between now and June 3rd. So kind of nice. Yeah. And anyway, it’s something we’ve been, you know, wanting to do and appreciate Kurt being able to do that for us, getting it all up online. Because there are some people that like, say January one hits and they’re working on their Arizona sheep application thoughts.

00:32:07:17 –> 00:32:29:24
They are, well, I don’t know, we have guys, well anyway, what, just, just some of these guys that are, let’s call ’em old, old and retired guys like ourselves. We’re not retired and we’re not super, super old, but we’re getting there. But it’s something they’re thinking about nonstop and you wouldn’t believe we’ll have application deadline for Wyoming up today and we’ll be vetting out Colorado moose options. Yeah.

00:32:29:24 –> 00:32:32:29
And I’m, and I make it and I’m talking antelope in Wyoming. Yeah,

00:32:32:29 –> 00:32:34:19
Seriously. Good guys. Yeah. And you’re like, man, we

00:32:34:19 –> 00:32:36:25
Doing group group apps of four to four and a half points. We’re

00:32:36:25 –> 00:32:56:01
Talking about stuff that’s gonna happen in May with a deadline of June 2nd, but it’s still fun. Everybody’s excited and they wanna make plans and then they want to, you know, get time off work or deal with their family or family vacations and planning around all that. So that’s what we do. And, and we’re excited with them. We tease a little bit, you know, deadline day, it seems like you get a little everything,

00:32:56:24 –> 00:32:59:27
But you don’t want to deal with anything other than Wyoming elk. You’re

00:32:59:27 –> 00:33:09:12
Like, do you mind if I push you off till, well next Wednesday’s our holiday here at Epic Outdoors. So do you mind if I push you off till like Thursday, maybe even Friday or the following Monday and you know, and then they

00:33:09:12 –> 00:33:19:16
Fill. But some of these guys, you know, if they go to their freezer last night and pull out their last packet of antelope meat, like Devin, and it’s your last one, next thing you’re thinking the next day is how, what antelope cag, can I draw this next?

00:33:19:21 –> 00:33:23:21
Or, or I wonder if Adam’s gonna let me have some orx meat because I’ve been asking him

00:33:23:21 –> 00:33:26:07
About that. Exactly. I mean it’s like, you know, if you

00:33:26:07 –> 00:33:28:29
Have any of that extra horse mate, I’d sure take care of it for you.

00:33:29:02 –> 00:33:37:29
You never know what triggers, but I mean, you could eat the last packet of stew meat, antelope stew meat and figure out I need more antelope meat the next morning I’m gonna call epic. What can I do to get an antelope? That’s

00:33:37:29 –> 00:33:41:18
Right. It’s true. All of these are true it true things. So

00:33:41:18 –> 00:33:46:25
I grew up in Wyoming and I don’t think I’ve met anybody who cuts wraps and freezes antelope that this is new to me.

00:33:48:07 –> 00:33:53:04
So so you, you don’t to stop talking, you’re gonna be investigated heavily.

00:33:54:13 –> 00:33:55:23
No, I don’t want You said it’s

00:33:55:23 –> 00:33:59:24
An antelope. Oh, you jerky it. You mean, you mean you don’t cut and wrap it and freeze? Exactly. Okay. No,

00:34:00:23 –> 00:34:02:27
I was thinking dog food. I, I didn’t know where you were

00:34:02:27 –> 00:34:03:11
Going with it.

00:34:03:28 –> 00:34:04:22
We were protecting you.

00:34:05:03 –> 00:34:09:28
No, every, every antelope should just be jerky. Anything above and beyond that is way too

00:34:09:28 –> 00:34:13:04
Much work. Well, you and Devin should talk because he believes

00:34:13:06 –> 00:34:14:15
Devin cherishes that stuff.

00:34:15:13 –> 00:34:15:22
It’s,

00:34:17:00 –> 00:34:23:09
Let’s put it this way. Every, every tip, tip and trick known to mankind Oh yeah. So that they don’t taste like stage roll,

00:34:23:09 –> 00:34:23:25
Even though they

00:34:23:25 –> 00:34:26:06
Still, he saves the sinew, he treats

00:34:26:06 –> 00:34:32:00
It like currency and you know, it might as well be Bitcoin or something like that to Devin.

00:34:32:02 –> 00:34:32:25
Yeah, exactly.

00:34:33:01 –> 00:34:33:24
Yeah, no kidding.

00:34:34:04 –> 00:34:38:22
He use this as a bartering material. It’s like, who wants it, Devin? Nobody wants it.

00:34:39:15 –> 00:34:40:18
Just keep that in mind, Kurt.

00:34:41:08 –> 00:34:41:17
If you

00:34:41:17 –> 00:34:41:22
Do

00:34:41:22 –> 00:34:49:16
Bring a, you know Bronson, I’d like to try some of that horse mate, you just, Scott, I’ll trade you for a little bit of rib meat off my antelope from 1953.

00:34:50:10 –> 00:34:52:21
Exactly. Currency to

00:34:52:21 –> 00:34:56:15
That. Devin’s buying every additional doon antelope tag known

00:34:56:15 –> 00:34:57:21
Man times. Trust me, he’s talked about it.

00:34:58:07 –> 00:35:10:25
It’s crossed his mind. He’s talked about it. But anyway, nevertheless, and it is, it’s, it’s a, it’s an antelope me up there. I don’t know why we got on that subject, but it is, Wyoming was built for antelope and badgers it feels like. Right? Don’t you think Kurt?

00:35:12:09 –> 00:35:13:25
Yeah. Yeah. There’s a lot of badgers

00:35:14:25 –> 00:35:16:11
And waterfowl. It’s actually one of

00:35:16:11 –> 00:35:17:05
The, and prairie dogs.

00:35:17:19 –> 00:35:28:13
It’s one of the greatest states. Waterfowl, if you were Oh, really? Yeah. Where trust me, all the little street. Oh, there’s a lot more water in Wyoming than you’d think. Okay. Game.

00:35:28:13 –> 00:35:28:29
Quit telling people,

00:35:29:21 –> 00:35:31:07
Am I wrong? Just tell me I’m wrong.

00:35:31:24 –> 00:35:33:23
No, no. Wyoming’s a terrible state. Irrigation

00:35:33:23 –> 00:35:36:07
Should never go there. Irrigation canals and jump shooting. But I mean, I haven’t seen many.

00:35:36:09 –> 00:35:40:19
You’re to a re if you’re to be a resident, Wyoming, Idaho, and New Mexico, yes,

00:35:41:11 –> 00:35:41:23
It’s great.

00:35:42:00 –> 00:35:49:28
But Mexico’s new, Mexico’s a bit of a blue state. I struggle with that. But man, the wildlife’s off the charts. Yeah. The opportunities are off the chart.

00:35:50:03 –> 00:35:51:19
Let ’em in from all s

00:35:52:23 –> 00:36:02:13
Yeah. My son, Trevor, who you guys know, he, he limits out on geese and ducks all the time. So, wow. There’s a lot more water than people realize way. I mean, they gotta land somewhere way. So,

00:36:02:13 –> 00:36:19:11
Yeah. Well, and then same thing, Idaho, same thing. I love Idaho’s. Just awesome big old red state up there. I could totally live in Idaho and then, you know, and then of course Wyoming. There’s just a lot of little hidden gems up there. But I, I just wonder about the very top end trophy potential. That’s enough

00:36:19:22 –> 00:36:20:23
Of what for you?

00:36:21:05 –> 00:36:24:10
Deer and elk. Elk and stuff. Deer. I mean, I think it’s, it’s awesome. You’re

00:36:24:10 –> 00:36:26:28
Not worried about when they get back on their feet. Elk is,

00:36:27:04 –> 00:36:37:06
I’d have to learn how to live at 12 K, 10 k, you know, heaven above 10 k. I don’t know. Anyway, it’s a high country me up

00:36:37:06 –> 00:36:38:29
That, hey, you, you heard from Kurt, he hunt the sage,

00:36:39:04 –> 00:36:44:11
But Kurt has there been two 30 bucks killed out in the sage somewhere out in the sage. Of course. Just tell me.

00:36:44:13 –> 00:36:44:23
Of course.

00:36:45:22 –> 00:36:46:03
Maybe

00:36:48:09 –> 00:36:54:22
He didn’t wanna talk about Wyoming anymore. Kurt, you’re a non-resident. What do you care it

00:36:54:22 –> 00:36:55:15
Still protect him?

00:36:56:01 –> 00:36:56:28
Yeah, he’s

00:36:56:28 –> 00:36:58:03
Got grandkids that are residents.

00:36:58:03 –> 00:37:00:03
It’s the cowboy state. All right.

00:37:01:10 –> 00:37:05:05
I do. Yeah. I actually do have grandkids that are residents now. So Yeah.

00:37:05:27 –> 00:37:06:10
That’s

00:37:06:17 –> 00:37:12:06
Born in, born in Wyoming. They gotta be born in the right state. They can move anywhere after that, but just need to be born in Wyoming.

00:37:13:00 –> 00:37:19:17
Well, do you become an automatic resident if you’re born in Wyoming? I know there’s some rules changes coming up. Trump America administration,

00:37:20:03 –> 00:37:20:10
But

00:37:20:15 –> 00:37:21:11
Yeah, exactly.

00:37:22:14 –> 00:37:38:13
Hey, you know, and with this drill, baby drill stuff going on, maybe, I don’t know, that’ll affect Wyoming too a little bit. That economy and definitely all of the things up there. There’s gonna be some renewed vigor and energy and, and lifted spirits up there. That’s what I think. What do you think, bro?

00:37:38:17 –> 00:37:43:21
Yeah, the downside is though, is the poaching. So Yeah, it is a, it is a, when you

00:37:43:21 –> 00:37:47:17
Deal with a lot of drilling Yeah. And a lot of oil. Yeah, yeah,

00:37:47:23 –> 00:37:58:00
Yeah. Poaching they have shown over the years when, when the drilling industry goes up, those, those communities that, you know, those people that find those big bucks out in the middle of sagebrush poaching goes through the

00:37:58:00 –> 00:38:00:19
Roof, you know, 1 0 2 has changed. Oil’s changed that place.

00:38:00:23 –> 00:38:03:06
Exactly. It’s just, it’s really hard. Well,

00:38:03:06 –> 00:38:11:07
Let’s, let’s say not a good note, everybody go to sheep camp.net, go to hunt expo.com. We’ll see you at the expo February 13, 16. Good. We’re good. Right?

00:38:11:08 –> 00:38:12:18
We’ll hunt you down, Kurt. Yeah.

00:38:12:27 –> 00:38:23:24
And hey, sounds good guys. And by the way, our, our online odds are the absolute best of anything I’ve ever seen. Go check out. So we consult on ’em. I don’t know, maybe 15, 20, 30, 40 type day all

00:38:23:24 –> 00:38:32:28
Day long. If I come to come to work, that’s the first, you know, tab that I refresh. ’cause I know I’m gonna use it within 3.6 minutes of the first call coming through.

00:38:33:07 –> 00:38:46:25
And don’t judge us off of what happened yesterday. ’cause there’s changes today. That’s right. We’re always changing and making, making adjustments. All right. Exactly. All right, Kurt. Well, okay. Thanks guys. I don’t know, did you talking to you? Yeah. I don’t know what you going got going on the rest of the day, but good luck. Whatever you

00:38:46:25 –> 00:38:47:23
Doing. Yeah,

00:38:48:03 –> 00:38:52:25
Thanks. Appreciate it. Talk to you guys soon. Alright. Talk to later. See? Alright. Right.

00:38:53:26 –> 00:39:02:19
He ain’t, he ain’t going there and he wants to drop the Wyoming. What’s, what’s Wyoming’s, I mean, Montana’s big sky country. What’s Wyoming

00:39:02:20 –> 00:39:03:11
Cowboy, right?

00:39:03:11 –> 00:39:05:22
Cowboy. Just the cowboy state. Yeah. Is that all this mean? I

00:39:05:22 –> 00:39:06:00
Don’t know.

00:39:06:23 –> 00:39:07:17
Good deal. How about the,

00:39:07:20 –> 00:39:10:19
They they need to advertise a little more. I I’m it’s not at top of mind.

00:39:10:19 –> 00:39:12:07
Windy. Just windy. Wyoming. The windy,

00:39:12:08 –> 00:39:12:18
Windy

00:39:12:18 –> 00:39:13:18
State. The windy state.

00:39:13:24 –> 00:39:17:12
Yeah. Come on. What is his nose? Sideways. What is that?

00:39:17:16 –> 00:39:21:27
I dunno. Logan’s looking it up considered

00:39:22:07 –> 00:39:23:24
He’s missing the right keyword.

00:39:25:01 –> 00:39:26:09
What? Don’t know.

00:39:26:09 –> 00:39:27:03
That’s what I saying. We

00:39:27:03 –> 00:39:27:13
Really don’t,

00:39:28:03 –> 00:39:34:22
I doesn’t know what to do with whatever you, I write the slogan and it said equal. Right. So equal right state. That’s not, that’s not,

00:39:35:02 –> 00:39:41:00
No, no, because I can’t go into the wilderness without a guy. Is that equal? Okay,

00:39:41:02 –> 00:39:50:10
Come on. It’s not equal, but go ahead. You want to contest it. I think it’s been contested. The slogan, I guess is not the same as what we’re thinking. ’cause Utah’s industry right there,

00:39:50:10 –> 00:39:55:10
It says beehive state. Jim States, Idaho. It must be it’s Colorado. Something like that.

00:39:55:23 –> 00:39:58:28
Nickname or something. So, so past that, I’m not even gonna look at the screen. There’s, there’s

00:39:58:28 –> 00:40:00:00
A thousands, let’s make it up.

00:40:00:07 –> 00:40:02:28
You know Wyoming residents who are screaming right now, the Badger State.

00:40:03:07 –> 00:40:08:03
It’s a badger, Wisconsin. It’s so many bad. What is it? Did you find it?

00:40:08:06 –> 00:40:10:05
No. No answers. It’s Cowboy state.

00:40:10:16 –> 00:40:19:07
I think that’d be a good podcast. State podcast sometime. Let’s go through every state and we’re gonna, Nick, we’re gonna go everybody in here. We’ll do it maybe next Thursday. Okay. Or Wednesday when

00:40:19:07 –> 00:40:21:18
We have, I’m taking that day off. We’re

00:40:21:18 –> 00:40:27:09
Gonna go have a big breakfast. We already talked about that ’cause anyway, but let’s, let’s, let’s nickname states.

00:40:27:22 –> 00:40:30:25
Let’s change ’em. So they’re hunting related. Let’s, let’s have people submit.

00:40:32:06 –> 00:40:43:01
Let’s just, just like Trump is, is renaming the Gulf of Mexico. Yes. Let’s rename some of these states. Let’s do it. That’s a podcast idea right there. We’re gonna nickname these states. Yeah.

00:40:43:15 –> 00:40:58:23
I thought our podcast was supposed to bring value. That is Arizona Big a elk state, you know, something like that. John and Big Arizona. A for Arizona. It’s W Tub bariums. Wt, I mean the BI

00:40:58:23 –> 00:41:03:24
State. I think we could come with something better than the beehive state. I know it’s industry, it’s working work. Bees.

00:41:04:01 –> 00:41:12:18
We must have had some bees. Oh that bees. Busy bees. Let’s just stick. I remember when I was a kid, I get busy bee stickers. Did you? Yeah, I, I know I got gypped mo

00:41:12:18 –> 00:41:13:01
Elementary.

00:41:13:04 –> 00:41:18:21
I, it’s like okay, bring in the wood. I bring in the wood. Here’s a busy bee sticker. Oh yeah. Remember those

00:41:18:21 –> 00:41:20:05
Scratch bee stickers? Sniffs we used get in

00:41:20:05 –> 00:41:22:00
Elementary school had stars on her forehead,

00:41:22:15 –> 00:41:23:15
Scratch and snap.

00:41:23:24 –> 00:41:25:18
Here’s your reward. Do they, do they

00:41:25:18 –> 00:41:27:25
Even make scratch and sniff stickers anymore? They do.

00:41:28:04 –> 00:41:28:13
Do they?

00:41:28:15 –> 00:41:28:22
Oh,

00:41:29:00 –> 00:41:29:06
How

00:41:29:06 –> 00:41:29:23
Would you do Logan

00:41:30:22 –> 00:41:31:28
Scratching and sniffing.

00:41:32:25 –> 00:41:33:29
Got a hundred of them on my wallet.

00:41:34:16 –> 00:41:36:18
Do you come on. No. What?

00:41:37:08 –> 00:41:38:07
You never know with lock.

00:41:38:09 –> 00:41:42:22
Exactly. He answered so fast. Like of course they do. Adam, what do you mean? Of course

00:41:42:22 –> 00:41:44:10
They do you want some? Okay.

00:41:44:17 –> 00:41:47:06
It’s just like a lottery ticket. Scratch it. What you got

00:41:47:21 –> 00:41:48:04
Nicotine flavor.

00:41:48:04 –> 00:41:52:04
He’s got a skunk brace. Scratch a sniff over there. Fulling his drawer. That’s

00:41:52:04 –> 00:41:54:18
Right. Oh, we gotta move right along.

00:41:54:18 –> 00:42:10:04
Well, talking about, I just wanted to mention on the expo, if you’re looking at choosing between different optics, we’re gonna have sample models there. You can look through ’em, compare, tell your heart’s content, touch ’em, see how they fill in your hands. And then we’re gonna have specials as well. So to be a great place to buy

00:42:10:14 –> 00:42:32:28
It is we, we’ve obviously done this for several years now and hopefully those of you who stopped by when you needed it know we’re gonna treat you right. We’ve got a great inventory. Bring our trailer there. We load up and you know, we obviously got tripods, you know, rifle scope, spotting, scope up range finders, binoculars, anything you you’re looking for, stop by visit us there. Same place we always at. Was it 27 44 I think? Does that sound right?

00:42:33:15 –> 00:42:34:13
Yeah. 27.

00:42:34:13 –> 00:42:36:18
27 44. Anyway,

00:42:36:21 –> 00:42:38:06
Yeah, I think that’s what it is. Something

00:42:38:08 –> 00:42:38:28
The corner on the back

00:42:38:28 –> 00:42:39:19
Wall. Twenty seven forty four.

00:42:39:22 –> 00:42:40:25
We call it the pinch point.

00:42:41:11 –> 00:42:42:03
Well, right.

00:42:42:09 –> 00:43:28:05
Yeah, it’s good. So anyway, yeah, I think it’s a great opportunity, great opportunity to come learn a ton, get some gear at an incredible value and come visit. We appreciate everybody that stops by and apply for tags and whatnot. Bronson, I think we wanna talk a little bit about information, the information service, the information age, and you kind of get what you pay for out there. And there’s a lot of people that are coming out saying, go do this, go do that. Like they’re an authority and they haven’t done much. And so I just, and not to, I wanna be, it needs to be an up uplifting type discussion. You know, it’s not, we’re not here to just, but but just be careful. We’re answering a lot of questions that we didn’t cause the question to be there. It’s, we’re answering questions for other dudes that don’t answer their phone. You know what I’m saying? Or

00:43:28:05 –> 00:43:29:22
They got bad information from somewhere. Yeah.

00:43:29:22 –> 00:43:38:03
And and it could be as simple as just like an Instagram reel or a story or something and somebody’s talking about something and be careful. Or

00:43:38:03 –> 00:43:59:27
A podcast. Yeah. Or, or a podcast. I mean there’s been a guy I, I hit, a guy had hit me the other day ’cause there’s one random elk tag for non-residents in Arizona. Does it go Yeah, in Arizona, does it go to a, you know, a bonus point holder, a max point holder? Or does it go on the random? It’s like, well this goes on a random, like there’s so many examples of this in the raw draw data and, and he’s like, that’s not what they’re saying. Well, I don’t know what to say. They’re

00:43:59:27 –> 00:44:34:06
Wrong. So just be careful. I mean we also pride ourselves on, on a lot of different eyes looking at our information before we go to printing our magazine. It is not a rinse and repeat. We try to stay on top of all the changes and issues. There’s a lot of issues that, you know, we’ve seen, I’ll throw a couple others out there. You may look in our Wyoming elk section or antelope section last year. You’ll see some unit that had a low tag numbers 25 even 50 total tags. Right? There was no tags you remember for non-residents. Yeah. There’s a, there’s a preference point and a random within special

00:44:34:06 –> 00:44:34:27
Different price

00:44:34:27 –> 00:45:09:12
Categories in the special and regular. So there’s four odds columns. Yeah. In in Wyoming for non-resident deer cantelope. Yeah. Okay. And it’ll say no tag in all of them. Like what do you mean there’s no tags? There’s 50 total tags. Well you start calling and asking questions on that. Non-resident landowners that apply and get qualified tags that get drawn for tags come out of a non-resident quota. And some of those units, non-resident landowners took all the available non-resident quotas. So they drew zero in the draw. Okay. There’s ways that we know that you gotta call and find out that, but intuitively it’s just, even when you see it for the first time, it’s hard to figure out. But

00:45:09:15 –> 00:45:20:04
That is a state where you need four non-resident tags in a specific category of price. Regular or special to have a random, yeah, the first three are gonna go to the preference.

00:45:20:04 –> 00:45:36:01
And there’s a lot of those on elk where they have one or two elk tags and they go to the preference point draw in both cases. Or just like with sheep and moose, you gotta have four before one of them drops to a random. And that’s why, you know, last year they also took out the super tag trifecta and

00:45:36:01 –> 00:45:39:11
The sheep, the raffle. And if it’s a non-resident that drew it, which it was on

00:45:39:11 –> 00:45:39:17
Both,

00:45:39:18 –> 00:45:40:17
Both now that’s, that’s the non-resident

00:45:40:28 –> 00:46:15:11
Quota right out of, of the gate. And, and they dropped a, dropped a quota in unit five. So they only drew three tags, all went to the max point. So there’s just a lot of things like when you analyze odds and you analyze stats and you talk to fish and game people, there’s, there’s almost a scenario you haven’t, very few you haven’t heard of. And there’s a few that are hatched every year. Some of these Wyoming ones are examples as they’ve cut their quota from 20, 25% down to 10% for non-residents. But just, just trust, make sure you’re getting it from a trustworthy source because, well we’ve had a lot of calls this last week and we’re, we’re like, where did you hear about this? And they don’t really tell you. I don’t know where they’re here

00:46:15:12 –> 00:46:23:24
And I don’t. I’m okay with whatever you decide to do. I I, I, we’re not even, I don’t, I don’t really care other than we are answering other people’s Yeah. Questions and

00:46:23:24 –> 00:46:26:01
Don’t waste your whole life on hunting, hunting plans around it.

00:46:26:06 –> 00:46:47:10
Yeah. And I think that’s critical too, is we only have so many years, we only have so many applications. We only have so many application dollars to deal with. And so when you submit an application, you dang sure want it to be for something valid. Yeah. You know, a valid option on a random, if there’s no random tag and you’re submitting an application for that. Nice. You let Wyoming sit on your money for five months for nothing. I had

00:46:47:10 –> 00:46:54:01
A guy, case in point, I had a guy today call me 16 elk points in Wyoming. He had been told by an outfitter put in for unit 1 24. Okay.

00:46:54:09 –> 00:46:56:27
No random. What’s the problem with that? Yeah, no randoms. And it’s going to max,

00:46:57:10 –> 00:47:08:19
He would be lending their money for, in the case of elk three, three and a half months with a 0% chance to draw. Right? Yeah. Put in by January 31st, the draws May 20, 20, 20

00:47:08:19 –> 00:47:11:15
Second, more than three and a half, isn’t it February, March, April, may.

00:47:11:15 –> 00:47:18:28
Yeah. I mean, it’s, it’s a long time. And I’m like, here’s why you don’t wanna do that. He like, well, I’m glad you just walked that through to me. And I mean, there’s just, it

00:47:18:28 –> 00:48:05:12
Doesn’t matter. But, and we’re good with it. Like this is 1 0 1 to us, just because we’ve been doing it for how long? I mean, we’re talking what, 30 years? 25 years. 25, 30 years following it. And so anyway, it’s fine. It’s not a big deal. I mean, we’re on to, you know, watching the best units or, or the next best units or predicting planning, watching tag quotas come and go watching management come and go watching summers, droughts, winters, winter loss, all of these things come into our recommendations of what to apply for. And then we look at the odds and say, okay, these are realistic options of, of where you could possibly get a tag. And, and I think that’s why our clients, Logan, you’ve been posting up epic client harvest kill is a weird, a little bit of a harsh word. Epic Client kills nonstop.

00:48:05:12 –> 00:49:08:13
Right? Right. Nonstop. Do will you ever run out of content? No. If you did it for 365 days, 10 reels, or 10, let’s call ’em 10 story posts on, on Instagram, would you ever even come close? You wouldn’t even use a, a eighth? No, an eighth of the content. We have so many and I, and I think that we’re careful not to boast and brag and all that, but I, our clients epic members, first off, are some of the most serious out there. Okay. They also have some of the highest point totals. Bronson Lake. Yeah. It’s no joke. We brought on a good friend of ours from way back and been dealing with him a a bit, but he’s also, anyway, it’s just time in his life to have us do it. I mean, we load his point totals. There’s 20 plus in multiple states and, and we’re doing this a lot and, and our guys are drawing tags and then they want to go with outfitters and we’re working with them on that. Or they may want to go DIY or they may want to choose Hunts to go DIY versus guided versus whatever. And this is just something that’s just, I, I don’t know. I mean, it’s, it’s common place.

00:49:08:19 –> 00:49:12:23
It’s our job. It’s common place. That’s the best way to put it. This is all we do. It’s

00:49:12:23 –> 00:49:13:11
Our job. Simple.

00:49:13:27 –> 00:49:15:12
That’s simple as that’s what we do every day.

00:49:15:19 –> 00:49:36:16
This isn’t about developing a business off of social media and a and a and a and a podcast and talking about a few things. This is no joke. This is no joke. It’s our livelihood, but it’s also our clients like it, you could call it a hobby, but this is the last thing they’re giving up. It is. I I, I mean it just is what it is. Yep. That that’s

00:49:36:16 –> 00:49:37:24
Right. Take it very seriously.

00:49:38:07 –> 00:50:13:13
So anyway, kind of fun. I mean, and that’s why it’s fun when, when we got Kurt just cranking out stuff, we see something we want, we do it, it’s easy. There’s no red tape. We get to choose. We don’t, we don’t ask, you know, the powers to be and and hope that things change. I mean, we’re answering your phone calls. You’re not going on some random little whatever call center and boards and hope to get back in time like we’re doing this. And so anyway, epic outdoors.com, we’d love to have you on board if you’re not. And if you are, we’re we appreciate you. Yeah. And it helps us keep doing good things. It’s

00:50:13:13 –> 00:50:56:19
The time of year too. If you’ve been a podcast listener, haven’t been a member, it’s the time that these magazines will benefit you from now through June. Obviously we do monthly cover two or three states each month in great detail and break it down. You know, hopefully that’s, those that are members can speak to that. And there’s a lot of other benefits too, like the member experience list, you know, discounts on optics and gear throughout the year, things like that. But if you’ve been considerate, it’s the time to do it. If you haven’t done it swing by the expo will be there. Booth 27 44, you can join there. Check out, like John said, a lot of the new optics, we’ve got a lot of new stuff, a lot of new optics from several different companies that have launched here in the last month or two that a lot of people maybe haven’t even seen. So got by said

00:50:56:19 –> 00:51:01:27
What I, I, I, Bronson, we should talk just very slightly about the optics we were looking through. Well

00:51:01:27 –> 00:51:06:17
We’ve done it ourselves. Might be, may or may not be upgrading here very soon on some

00:51:06:17 –> 00:51:08:09
Stuff. Alrighty. Upgrading

00:51:09:05 –> 00:51:10:24
Just, just what it is.

00:51:11:02 –> 00:51:17:17
So wanna we, we will look through koa, they say the technical word, Koa coa, koa whatever, COOs

00:51:18:20 –> 00:51:19:06
Co cows,

00:51:19:12 –> 00:51:23:13
Cows, whatever. Right? So KOAs spotting scope,

00:51:25:03 –> 00:51:25:22
Very impressed.

00:51:25:26 –> 00:51:54:01
Best spotting scope we’ve ever looked through. I don’t know what else to say. We ordered a bunch of ’em. We’re dishing ’em out like candy here at the office. Of course they’re paying for it. But I’m just saying it’s one of those things, you know, it’s just another, something you should look through. I’m not saying any of the rest of it’s bad. It’s not bad. There’s just something that says it’s, you know, kind of a good better best. But it’s more like excellent and then excellent plus and an excellent plus plus. You know what I mean? A

00:51:54:01 –> 00:51:54:29
And a plus. Yeah.

00:51:54:29 –> 00:52:39:18
Something like that. I don’t know how you grade it, but you can see cracks in rocks that you didn’t see the crack in some of the other optics. Okay. I’m just saying it. And we’re not talking about a low grade optic. We’re talking about the best of the best against the best of the best. Come by the expo. We can sure visit about that or call in. But if you want the best, we’ve got ’em at the best deal you can have. And I’m not just trying to sell you on something, look through it. Just go look through one, go look through a cow of 99 versus a SRO or any other product out there. Just go do it and see what you think. Just throwing it out there. I am blown away. So Bronson, you know, we’re finishing up this thing, but let’s just talk. You just got back from New Mexico hunting orcs with your daughter. We teed it up on a podcast before you left.

00:52:39:25 –> 00:52:41:23
I think you called me the morning. That’s Oh yeah.

00:52:41:23 –> 00:52:43:09
It seems like we called you and we tease, I

00:52:43:09 –> 00:52:44:07
Dunno if, did we, did you actually

00:52:44:07 –> 00:52:47:10
Use that? We weren’t even teasing. The six five need more was out.

00:52:47:29 –> 00:52:51:03
I don’t know. I haven’t listened to the podcast. Did you actually use that? Of course. Call,

00:52:51:04 –> 00:52:52:06
Right? Of course we did.

00:52:52:12 –> 00:53:01:01
I was laying in a hotel back when you called me. I was, well Jason hit me like 7 45 or eight in the morning. Hey, we’re gonna call you here in 10 minutes. Oh see?

00:53:01:12 –> 00:53:08:10
Gee, I better get up. Okay. No, so actually, actually the way that went down is you had to go to that course, but then you had a lot of time to do nothing. Yeah,

00:53:08:10 –> 00:53:49:01
Well the problem is yeah, it was, it was the day we couldn’t hunt. So, you know, for those of you who probably know, or at least know they’ve got, they’ve got a works we were brought into in the late sixties onto White Sands, Mitchell Range in New South Central New Mexico. And over the years they, they just went gangbusters. I think, you know, we learned a little bit down there. I think at one point they got, they thought they were like over 10,000 of the dang things. Now they’re thinking there’s about 3000 of ’em on there. But of course they’ve expanded from there and they’re off range too in places. They’re just, you know, the, the installation is just a bar, four, five strand barbed wire fans. It’s not like, you know, it’s like high fence compound, you know, stuff can get out. Yeah. And elk can get onto there and things like that.

00:53:49:03 –> 00:54:32:13
So anyway, being that it’s a milit military installation, they have, you know, a background check that goes into, you have to back when you draw a tag, just for those of you that maybe don’t know, you get information packet you apply with the each, each guest can have up to three, three non-hunting companions that they bring. They all have to be in one vehicle. The hunter and the people. You can’t bring like three guys in. There’re all going out on different trucks and spreading out radios. The whole team thing, you gotta be, each hunter’s gotta be in one. In this case, my daughter and I actually, you know, drew, drew together and which was, I don’t know, for, you know, six or seven tags. Kind of tough to do. They’re tough odds. But anyway, it finally was time. It was last, what April that those come out.

00:54:32:13 –> 00:55:12:13
So it was finally time to go do it. And yeah, a couple of days before this is like there, most of the hunts down there, whether you’re stallion range or or roads are three day hunts. Like a Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And you apply for, you know, different hunts. Most of these areas have three to four hunts, you know, spaced out every month or six weeks. So these, they’re, they’re spooky, they’re wild. They know, they know what you’re about. They know what gunshots are, things like that. But anyway, we got an, an email, kind of an urgent one a day or two before, right before we were taking off that due to submissions, they were gonna, you know, have to prolong close the space, something to close it on the Friday. They weren’t gonna be able to allow us, but we were still gonna be able to do our orientation.

00:55:12:13 –> 00:56:10:10
It was just gonna be later in the day, but there’d be no hunting on Friday. So right there, you’ve got half of your day is, is taken up and, and it’s, it’s a type of thing that, you know, depending on the time of year, I’m sure, because when we were there, you know, at six 30 in the morning, they’ll let you on. You’re off at six 30 earlier in the year, like September and all that one days longer. I’m sure it’s different times, but the moral of the stories, if you don’t wanna get kicked off and not invited back the next day, don’t miss getting off the base. This is not like a oh well we, were just a long ways away. You can get on that thing and drive an hour and a half out there to be by yourself. And you gotta keep that in mind when you’re gonna get off at night. Anyway, so the first day, yeah, you’re there in line. You’re, there we’re an hour, an hour and a half early and we, I don’t know, we, me and me and, and Jordan, Jordan Jensen, buddy of ours with a premium hunt guy, he was helping us out and he’s like, you know, let’s just, let’s just go. We’re gonna, this is, you know, you’re gonna see plenty of these. Let’s just, let’s look for, let’s look for something big. And I’m like, yeah, whatever. I’ve never even seen what these missed

00:56:10:10 –> 00:56:10:22
The first day

00:56:11:05 –> 00:56:12:22
Mandatory. Yeah. So now you’re on day two. Second

00:56:12:22 –> 00:56:14:11
You’re on day two and it’s a three

00:56:14:11 –> 00:56:51:05
Day season. Yeah. So now we got just two days and we saw a lot. We did. And a lot of ’em were running from you. They’re, they’re, they’re doing that thing and plenty of stuff. That’s good. And of course my daughter’s saying, dad, dad, dad, I just, I just want one that just is not broken. I want just one that looks like an orx, you know? Makes sense. Not one that looks like half sheep, half orx makes sense. Like the one I described earlier. But anyway, long story short, that day we’d seen a bunch and made a few plays on, on a couple of ’em for her, of course, it’s all about her until we can get her her one killed. ’cause obviously I’m not gonna dump something and then, you know, right in front of your kid, it’s not, it’s gonna look pretty bad.

00:56:51:21 –> 00:57:29:10
But you know, in, in all honesty, you know, you’ve, you gotta be on your toes. Sometimes they’re stampeding off the roads and they don’t really stop. Well, or or they do. You might get a quick far shot and we got a couple of those for her that day. Then it got a little bit windy in the afternoon. Long story short, by the time it gets mid-afternoon, three, four o’clock, you’re starting to think, okay, do we really have time to do a whole lot more than just start puttering back? Because you get a flat tire on the way back here, you’re, oh yeah, you got problems. And they warn you prof profusely. Like, do not, this is not a, an a a suggestion. Six 30 is not a suggestion. It’s off laboratory. You’re here and through the gate and outta here, and this is even the case for sheep.

00:57:29:10 –> 00:58:08:15
You draw a sheep tag, you don’t get a camp out on there. You get to come on the day and you gotta get out every day and stay in, you know, either friends’ houses or local motels or whatever. So it’s, it, it’s something that, wow. It’s in the back of your mind. This is a missile range. Yeah. Oh yeah. The range is open at 6:00 PM Yeah, exactly. And you know, of course it’s shut down. But anyway, lot of animals. Anyway, so it came to the second day and I’m like, okay honey, I will, she’s like, dad, the first second day of hunting, the last, last day, like, dad, I do not, I’m not passing one up. And we saw one, we were like the third truck in line that day. And we see we, we started driving up there and there’s this, there’s this lone bull stand off the road, like 200 yards.

00:58:08:22 –> 00:58:41:11
And we’d actually passed the two trucks that were in front of us just ’cause they’re going, it’s in the dark and they’re going like 40 miles an hour and it’s a 55 mile an hour road. It’s, you know, paved. And so we just got by. We just got by and it’s dark. You can’t even see, you can’t even shoot. Yeah. We’re just, we’re just trying to get away from people. And by the time it got light out there in front of us, there’s, you know, now they’re speeding up. They’re right on us and they’re just bull standing out there. And I said, let’s don’t, ’cause they’re like 300 yards behind us. Let them, they’ll, they’ll, and I don’t wanna slam the brakes and them slam on the brakes and you’re trying to here kill it before they do. You don’t want to, you don’t want that scenario.

00:58:41:17 –> 00:59:19:25
It’s everybody’s last day. Yeah, it is. Right. So we just said, honey, let that be the first. Only one who’s like that. I told you. She’s like, I am, she’s basing. So anyway, we, we went on, saw a few other groups and then, and then it came time, all right, we’re finally out kind of by ourselves. We want to be found a group. And actually in that group, like two of them had busted horns and the one she killed didn’t. And so it was pretty obvious, which one do you get to shoot like that one? And anyway, made a great shot, you know, definitely had, you know, have a tripod with a shooting clamp out there. And she made a great shot like 454 7, 5 yards, epic big shooting clamp. Dropped it in its tracks. It was fun. And anyway, took, took a couple pictures and, you know, gutted it.

00:59:19:25 –> 00:59:58:16
We decided, hey, it’s still still kind of prime time in the morning. Let’s throw it in the back of the truck and tag it, throw it in the truck and, and keep hunting for a couple hours. And maybe the, if, if we don’t kill one for me, middle of the day, we’ll take quarter at bone, getting the coolers and all that, which we had with us. And so, but you know, within an hour and a half, I don’t know how long it was, you know, we drove up on another loan, lone Bull that took off running like a banshee and luckily he stopped and looked one time at about three 50 stopped and, and I was on him and dialed as soon as he stopped it just ack hammered. And it was, it was fun. It was really fun with her. She, you, it’s a great hunt to do with kids or family or guys, you know, it’s not always gonna be common that you’re gonna be able to draw, hunt together.

00:59:58:20 –> 01:00:27:24
It’s normally never like that. Rare. But in this case it was. And we had an awesome time, had a lot of, you know, 12 hours of windshield time with you and your, one of your kids. And me and daughter had a great time. A lot of talking, a lot of fun. Something new we’d never seen before and did. It was, it was a great time. And then coming home we had the same thing, just a just a great, great time together. And she’s already, she’s the whole way home. She’s talking about 20, 25 and plans and what she wants and all that. So gotta gotta work the magic wand again. Try to draw, draw something for her.

01:00:28:00 –> 01:00:28:11
So great.

01:00:28:15 –> 01:00:29:18
It’s always a fun time. Good

01:00:29:18 –> 01:00:45:19
Time. That’s what I think, John, see how this works. Where this going? It’s not combat tag drawing between father and daughter. This is together, we have experiences together. Okay. For everybody who’s wondering, what’s a lifetime? Orx? This is

01:00:45:19 –> 01:00:48:27
In jest. This is int I don’t really hate my daughter drawing

01:00:49:06 –> 01:01:00:12
Tags we love it is in jest and I love teasing John, but, and you, John, you are dad of the year in 14,000 aspects. Way more than me. Oh, I wish you were my dad. Maybe

01:01:00:14 –> 01:01:01:23
Fif maybe 15,000.

01:01:02:14 –> 01:01:11:11
Yeah. Pretty amazing dad. Yeah. So it’s all in good fun. But it is awesome when you go and do that and you end up drawing a tag like that and what a, what a great experience.

01:01:11:15 –> 01:01:18:25
Yeah. Way more fun for me to, to go down there. I mean it would’ve been, I don’t wanna say anti-climactic, but it’s not a, not that difficult. You

01:01:18:25 –> 01:01:19:22
Want to go with, with somebody.

01:01:20:10 –> 01:01:40:15
It was really good. And, and it was, it was the perfect scenario, you know, had we had that first day to go out and see some pass, some probably would’ve jumped all over a couple on the second morning. But it was, second morning was the first morning in all reality in this case. But it was awesome fun time with her. Highly recommend. They’re hard to draw, like I said, once in a lifetime and anyway, had a great time. Pretty

01:01:40:15 –> 01:01:40:22
Awesome.

01:01:40:22 –> 01:01:53:22
So I want you to correct my vision. You know, sometimes you can’t vi video these hunts. No. So in your mind, sometimes you’d imagine how these hunts go. So this is mine. Okay. I imagine it’s like a Baja race right at the first

01:01:53:22 –> 01:01:55:00
Yeah. It’s not all

01:01:55:00 –> 01:01:56:09
The trucks weeks are lined out and

01:01:56:09 –> 01:01:58:12
It’s, it’s a little go, you

01:01:58:12 –> 01:02:02:13
Are, you are single file, but just through the fact you are and you’re

01:02:02:13 –> 01:02:14:22
Back. It’s kinda like when they start a race and everybody’s going around the track, everybody’s passing each and they’re starting to, we, that’s, that’s how I’ve always imagined it start weed. They’re staying in line. Yeah. The one thing finally, Bronson, they were doing 40 and Bron is like, I’m over it.

01:02:15:27 –> 01:02:32:22
We bump drafted off to somebody and pulled out and we were good. Yeah. They never, they’ve never looked back. But no, they, they, you are lined up and some people were there. We got there the first day and we were probably the 15th or 20th car. Yeah. And we were there like at five or five 15, an hour and a half before it opens. Yeah. And we’re like the 20th

01:02:33:08 –> 01:02:36:09
At social media and so whatever. Yeah, you waking up at eating

01:02:36:09 –> 01:02:47:01
Your breakfast, sitting there in the dark. But, but you gotta pull up, you gotta say who you are, you know, the day before they’ve checked all your IDs, you sign all the, you know, photo dis disclaimers, you do all the, you know,

01:02:47:14 –> 01:02:48:11
Name and date of birth,

01:02:48:11 –> 01:03:21:24
Please, you know, all that type of stuff. You know, you go through that so the next day they know the truck, you’re coming in, they know the license plate. You say who it is and, and there’s a little bit of a that in between cars that self regulates you. But I’m not gonna lie, when we got, when we pulled in that first one, we, we got through the gate, I told how I just yelled boogie booy boogie, let’s go racing. Yeah. If you’re a NASCAR fan, you’ll get it. You know, you know that’s, you know, it was just kind like what they do when the green flag goes down. Yeah. And it wasn’t really like that because, and and honestly once you start getting out there, like we hardly even ran into people except for on the main roads. Like, I

01:03:22:12 –> 01:03:25:15
So big. I’ll bet there’s orch, it’s unbelievable killed. Right, right there where you’re at. Like,

01:03:25:19 –> 01:04:04:03
I mean we saw ’em, the mo the day before when we’re sitting there, they’re sitting there right there at the gate. We’re like, if they’re here in the morning, somebody’s gonna just touch off right here. Yeah. So yeah, there’s, there’s plenty of them, obviously some of them that hang there, they, they know the gig a little bit more. It doesn’t mean that you go further away. They’re, they’re less spooky. They get, they get hunted and these things roam all over that place. But it is a giant, a giant giant place. I can’t remember how many square miles, but it’s huge, you know, divided in half. You could hear the stuff on the other side of the mountain. You know, they’re, they’re still got active missions going and it’s that big that they got active missions on other part of the base going on you here, here, gun farm or whatever. And you’re not even, you’re, you’re 20 miles from it or something like that. Yeah. So anyway.

01:04:04:06 –> 01:04:09:16
Pretty awesome. All right, well that’s why you apply right there. You can’t, I mean it’s awesome.

01:04:09:25 –> 01:04:12:01
I would discourage people to play as a group. Yes.

01:04:12:06 –> 01:04:13:07
You what I’m saying what I mean just

01:04:13:16 –> 01:04:17:15
No, I’m saying though, like I would, I mean Jason and I think have the last couple years we’re like, well

01:04:17:18 –> 01:04:18:05
Only because

01:04:18:15 –> 01:04:21:11
It’d be funner to go with somebody else. Yeah. Kind of. And, and then this year,

01:04:21:11 –> 01:04:25:22
Year it’s like antelope, when you went up to Wyoming, you were like, okay, I don’t really need to go do this by myself.

01:04:26:00 –> 01:04:28:01
I’m done with that. I’ve already proclaimed that and

01:04:28:01 –> 01:04:28:17
That’s the fun part.

01:04:28:28 –> 01:04:35:10
I will do it with kids or y’all Yeah. In the future. Yeah. You just to drive that far to shoot one antelope and come home, it’s like, ugh, that

01:04:35:10 –> 01:04:36:28
Was only Devin does that. Yeah,

01:04:36:28 –> 01:04:37:11
Exactly.

01:04:37:20 –> 01:04:48:17
Alright, alright, let’s, let’s end it. Everybody should be applying, okay, I don’t know when this is coming out, but you got till 1159 tonight and Tuesday 1159 is another deadline for Arizona Elk

01:04:48:17 –> 01:04:49:03
And Antelope,

01:04:49:07 –> 01:04:55:29
Arizona time. So, you know. Yep. You’re not gonna say, well I’m on the eighth house. I wonder if Arizona game of fish, you gonna let me in? Just, just know,

01:04:56:02 –> 01:05:07:00
Make sure your hunting license is valid the day of the deadline. But if you’re applying today like on the third or fourth and you’re, and it lets you just make sure it’s still valid on the fourth or of

01:05:07:04 –> 01:05:27:10
February. Valid the day you apply and valid on the deadline day. That’s right. So like I’ve got kids, Jana, whatever that I’ve gotta do it on the deadline day. Yeah. Because I don’t buy ’em a license right now. No. I could do it right now, but I can’t get a twofer. That’s right. Yeah. Anyway, so let’s talk about that real quick now that I opened up that can of worms.

01:05:27:12 –> 01:05:35:00
Oh yeah. Just a, that’s a little something In the past when you went to buy your license, which again it’s at a separate part of their website, you don’t buy the license when you’re applying, just

01:05:35:00 –> 01:05:37:24
Go to one of the upper freaking buttons. Right. And down. Buy

01:05:37:24 –> 01:05:47:22
A license. Buy a license. You used to, could pick any day of the, of the year that you wanted it to start on. And you can still do that, but, but it has to be valid. If you buy it right then and then go to apply it won’t.

01:05:47:22 –> 01:05:53:04
And you validate it for today won’t. Yeah. Then you’re good. But if you do it for the fourth, you need to wait till the fourth to apply.

01:05:53:04 –> 01:06:10:17
Yeah. It won’t let you apply anymore. You have to, it has to be valid when you apply and on deadline days. So a lot of times you could go ahead buy your license to start it on the deadline day and then, you know, go ahead and apply and you’re good. Well now it makes you wait. If you, if you, if you delay the start date to the deadline date, that’s when you have to wait to apply. That’s a tip.

01:06:11:02 –> 01:06:40:28
It’s a new, it’s so new. The other, the side of that is, it’s good for 365 days. So it it, you have na normal calendar ratcheting in many years. You can apply on the fourth, let’s say you do it on February 4th and, and then the following year if, if it comes on the third, the deadline day is the third, you would be valid. And so you’d be able to apply for, you’d be able to apply for the elk, the deer and the sheep here in the summer, the bison and whatnot. Turkey and whatever else in October and then back

01:06:40:28 –> 01:06:55:07
On elk back envelope again. And then you would have to buy one that second year in June. But buy it on deadline day again on the sheep and the deer deadline. And then the next year it’s gonna be good for elk again. Gonna be good for bison the phone again. Probably again,

01:06:55:07 –> 01:06:56:23
If you have the normal calendar rat, if you

01:06:56:23 –> 01:06:59:22
Have Yep, that’s right. So every couple years, every other two

01:06:59:22 –> 01:07:00:00
To three

01:07:00:06 –> 01:07:01:23
You do it right, you’ll get a twofer. Yeah.

01:07:01:25 –> 01:07:03:00
Anyway. Yeah. And so save

01:07:03:00 –> 01:07:05:17
You 160 bucks. ’cause when you put put in a family problem,

01:07:05:18 –> 01:07:06:13
My problem is I got

01:07:06:19 –> 01:07:08:06
Six people, it adds up.

01:07:08:17 –> 01:07:28:16
I got kids doing, you know, turkeys and this and that. So you have to, oh yeah, you have to have a valid hunting license when you’re in the field. And so now I’ve got licenses that are April and I’m just like, why now I never get a twofer and it doesn’t matter. You gotta get one per year, you gotta get a license per year. So in reality, whatever just makes you feel better to get the best of ’em. Well, once

01:07:28:16 –> 01:07:35:25
In a while, the difference, if we like you, if we live close enough and we go hunting turkeys or coyotes or anything, you do have to get one. Yeah. But if you’re only applying in the draws,

01:07:36:16 –> 01:07:37:22
Don’t have to have a bottle. That’s all you do.

01:07:38:08 –> 01:07:42:27
You don’t ever go to Arizona or to hunt quail or anything like that. You don’t really need one. So a twofer makes

01:07:43:08 –> 01:07:44:25
Makes a little bit of sense. Yeah.

01:07:44:25 –> 01:07:48:07
Especially a family of five or six when it cost you six, 800 bucks.

01:07:48:12 –> 01:07:51:11
I don’t know why I had to open up that. I just, sorry, apologize.

01:07:51:24 –> 01:07:52:25
Tip of the day. Tip, tip of the week.

01:07:52:25 –> 01:07:58:19
Another, another two minutes. But anyway, we’re done Logan. Everybody have a great weekend. It’s freaking Absolutely.

01:07:58:19 –> 01:08:00:01
Friday, get your wraps in. Have

01:08:00:01 –> 01:08:02:03
A great weekend. By the way. It’s spring outside.

01:08:04:05 –> 01:08:53:25
