00:00:00:09 –> 00:00:07:04
You are listening to the Epic Outdoors Podcast, brought to you by Fierce Firearms, epic Outdoors choice for custom hunting rifles.

00:00:19:06 –> 00:00:24:17
Hey everybody. Jason Carter. Adam Bronson, John Peterson. Of course. We got the Viking jock. How are you?

00:00:25:05 –> 00:00:25:13
Good

00:00:26:06 –> 00:00:26:16
God. His

00:00:26:28 –> 00:00:28:07
We’re settling on your name a little bit.

00:00:28:12 –> 00:00:35:09
His new hall, his new Halloween costume was just, you know, eng engulfs the back pages of the recent magazine. Yeah.

00:00:35:14 –> 00:00:41:17
Everybody go check out the back page. May magazine, a very creative advertising, probably a waste of a page. John, want think

00:00:41:24 –> 00:00:44:24
What? Whatever. Well, I mean, a waste of a page. I mean,

00:00:44:27 –> 00:00:46:07
What’s the Viking gut to sell?

00:00:47:07 –> 00:00:50:28
I wanna have it known that I had nothing to do with that. That it was a surprise to me. It

00:00:50:28 –> 00:00:52:03
Was a surprise. We got,

00:00:52:03 –> 00:00:54:19
We got a little advertising money outta the state of Minnesota.

00:00:55:08 –> 00:01:02:21
So much of a surprise for two, two magazines. Part of my job here is to check these said magazines before they get

00:01:02:21 –> 00:01:05:07
Viewed the public. You caught it. You caught it. There was a blank cover. Yeah.

00:01:05:07 –> 00:01:07:28
And I was proud of myself. I was like, why is there there no

00:01:07:28 –> 00:01:08:24
Cover? We just told you Don’t worry

00:01:08:24 –> 00:01:26:17
About it. This appears to be a problem. It won’t go blank. Yeah. This appears to be a problem. Have you guys seen it? And you’re just like, ah, nah, I wouldn’t worry about it. And then the second one came out and I was like, again, there’s no back cover. Is anybody checking this? And so I finally just said, fine, my job is done. I have, I have

00:01:27:06 –> 00:01:28:03
My concern. I’m clocking out.

00:01:28:14 –> 00:01:30:21
Your moved on. They know that I had a concern

00:01:31:13 –> 00:01:32:27
Back to checking applications. Yes.

00:01:33:27 –> 00:01:42:27
So it was pretty fun. When we got the magazine, I made an ad and it’s got Josh as a Viking using the, the new max tripod.

00:01:42:27 –> 00:01:43:22
John, you did a whole metal art

00:01:44:00 –> 00:01:48:07
Office. Yeah. And then I did a big, huge metal poster and put it outside of his office.

00:01:48:16 –> 00:01:48:27
It was,

00:01:49:14 –> 00:01:52:13
It was pretty fun. He went all out. It’s all a little surprise.

00:01:52:22 –> 00:01:56:28
So whether you like it or not. And then the tornado, of course, that was Archibald’s. Wonderful little addition.

00:01:56:28 –> 00:01:57:06
Yeah.

00:01:58:07 –> 00:02:00:17
Here’s this tornado. It’s in the background

00:02:00:25 –> 00:02:01:22
With sturdy legs.

00:02:01:27 –> 00:02:03:29
Still gonna glass that big bowl.

00:02:04:15 –> 00:02:09:09
Can I have a request to the next one? Put a little, little lawn sign by the tornado that says, pray for Enoch.

00:02:11:15 –> 00:02:12:07
Oh, geez.

00:02:12:23 –> 00:02:16:07
Fits debits, because he gets tornadoes at his house. A lot. Does. We always have

00:02:16:07 –> 00:02:21:24
To pray for Enoch. Everything bad happens. Everything that bad that happens in Enoch Happens at his place,

00:02:21:24 –> 00:02:22:13
At Deon’s house.

00:02:22:13 –> 00:02:25:11
Yeah. Like raindrops start to hit the roof and it’s,

00:02:25:19 –> 00:02:27:13
Oh, it’s already hailed on the

00:02:27:13 –> 00:02:29:03
First thing that said. Everybody pray for Enoch.

00:02:30:02 –> 00:02:31:05
Everybody pray for that.

00:02:31:05 –> 00:02:33:28
Everybody’s gunshot. They’re justifiably so

00:02:34:03 –> 00:02:35:13
Justifiably so couple

00:02:35:13 –> 00:02:36:03
Summers ago.

00:02:36:03 –> 00:02:44:19
Yeah. And he’s got a basement probably be full of water for It’s over. Yeah. All right. What else? So anyway, everybody, so that Viking ad does talk about our max tripod. Yeah.

00:02:44:19 –> 00:02:51:19
And I think it communicates pretty good how It’s just freaking stable and tough. It is awesome. Yeah. I love that tripod.

00:02:51:24 –> 00:02:53:16
I don’t know what it communicates, actually.

00:02:54:02 –> 00:02:56:01
It’s built to be put on the bow of a ship

00:02:57:28 –> 00:02:59:04
Across the Atlantic Ocean

00:03:00:01 –> 00:03:13:13
Robinson. And I have known of John’s creativity over the course of 25 years, or plus 30 maybe. And once in a while it comes out and you either just accept it and, and you go with it and you’re just, or you’re gonna be surprised at the most inopportune. And

00:03:13:13 –> 00:03:18:00
You’re just, but, but at the same time, you’re just grateful. It’s not you. Yeah.

00:03:18:20 –> 00:03:20:11
I’m grateful. I’m, it’s, I’m not

00:03:20:11 –> 00:03:20:19
The subject.

00:03:21:13 –> 00:03:24:29
We all were chub be the chubby Viking We all were. With the s with the scientists.

00:03:25:00 –> 00:03:30:11
At least a Viking is is a, is a definite masculine type. It’s very cool. You know, I

00:03:30:11 –> 00:03:36:07
Do think John learned a lesson. He, he did come and run it by us. Okay. He did the mad scientist that.

00:03:36:11 –> 00:03:44:00
Yeah. That was all him. That was awesome. We got more comments on the mad scientist ad that. Yeah. That was the

00:03:44:00 –> 00:03:45:13
First surprise. Did it turn into money?

00:03:46:10 –> 00:03:49:21
Absolutely. We sold out, we sold out of those tripods

00:03:49:22 –> 00:03:54:00
We would’ve Anyway. When you have 10 of not as fast. When you have 10 of ’em, you’re gonna sell.

00:03:54:07 –> 00:03:55:19
Oh, whatever. I’m just

00:03:55:19 –> 00:04:01:09
Teasing. They were, we did sell hundreds. We did, but I don’t know. Yeah. Advertising may or may not hide anything to us.

00:04:02:09 –> 00:04:09:13
Advertising’s everything. You guys are just lucky. Like, I dial it back about 50% of what my creativity. Trust me, you’re

00:04:09:13 –> 00:04:10:05
Dialing it back. I

00:04:10:05 –> 00:04:14:18
Appreciate, I believe you. I don’t, I don’t even question that possible. He is dialing,

00:04:14:25 –> 00:04:16:00
He works on stuff. He’s

00:04:16:00 –> 00:04:17:21
Capable of a whole lot more. Sometimes

00:04:17:21 –> 00:04:20:13
We’re like, Adam and I are looking at each other. What do you think John’s doing

00:04:20:13 –> 00:04:26:27
Today? I mean, you know, if you’ve seen Josh’s Valentine’s Day poster for his wife, it was a Viking. That

00:04:26:27 –> 00:04:31:01
Was the Viking request. Shirtless razor, right? Shaved. Was it

00:04:31:03 –> 00:04:31:27
Sha Oh yeah.

00:04:32:00 –> 00:04:35:11
You were shaved down. Hey. I mean, that had to take four or five razors.

00:04:36:24 –> 00:04:39:23
That’s a nice segue for our podcast today, by the way. Oh, razor.

00:04:39:28 –> 00:04:41:18
All right. Dive into it. Razor

00:04:41:25 –> 00:04:52:00
Max. Yeah. Really? Well, I guess. Yeah. What are we gonna talk about today, John? We are, we are gonna talk about outdoor edge knives. The razor. The razor, yeah. And

00:04:52:11 –> 00:04:54:04
HDX and among many other things.

00:04:54:04 –> 00:04:57:03
Right. The, the A, the A PX is phenomenal.

00:04:57:14 –> 00:04:59:16
HT XAPX, they have all kinds of models.

00:04:59:24 –> 00:05:28:17
He’s taken, they’ve taken kind of the pet peeves of what to do with, with the razor blades, you know, and, and how to manage those and store ’em Where to store ’em and solved it. I mean, they, I built a little pouch and put it in my pack. And they’re spec specifically for you. You can build pouches. Yeah. I, I mean you cord a Corda grade type sewing machine. I built a fanny pack for specific muzz. You built a pack? Yeah, dude. I mean,

00:05:29:11 –> 00:05:29:25
Thought

00:05:30:05 –> 00:05:31:07
I thought everything was graphic.

00:05:32:19 –> 00:05:32:21
Graphic.

00:05:33:06 –> 00:05:33:15
Real

00:05:33:26 –> 00:05:40:29
Life. Let’s list John’s strengths. Okay. And abilities. He’s a sewer, what do you call those people? Seamstress seam.

00:05:41:06 –> 00:05:41:17
I don’t know if

00:05:43:05 –> 00:05:43:25
He’s probably made wedding

00:05:43:25 –> 00:05:44:16
Dress a tailor.

00:05:45:01 –> 00:05:45:07
You

00:05:45:11 –> 00:05:51:24
Probably have. I’ve made a dress before. Yes. Yes. It was on a dare. What do you mean? Someone dared me That I couldn’t do it to say that. Did

00:05:51:24 –> 00:05:59:11
You know that? No. I, I just know he can do anything. I was in college. John, John, have you have you or not done Lots of body work on vehicles. Yeah.

00:05:59:17 –> 00:06:00:18
It’s transformed

00:06:00:18 –> 00:06:04:22
Vehicles. Okay. Bu motors. Okay. Rebuilt camp trailers.

00:06:04:22 –> 00:06:28:11
He, he impressed every single one of my roommates. When with what? When I got those new tires on, they were just a little bit too big. And they were hitting my, my air dam under my truck. And so he, he comes out, what did he take? A saw all he comes out with the saw all. And he just, he’s marking stuff and he, and it works perfect. I can turn my wheels all the way, either way. Yeah. I’m like, my roommate, my roommate looks at me and he’s like, that’s your boss. And I was like, yeah. And he’s like, he’s, he’s so cool.

00:06:29:27 –> 00:06:39:03
He, I’m like, runs fenders. I mean, stuff rubbing I can take care of the grt graphic designer usually means nothing, leaves the computer screen. John,

00:06:39:03 –> 00:06:47:05
With John, do you have remote controlled airplanes? Yes. Okay. Have you carved fish outta wood? Yes. Okay. Let’s see. Have you trapped skunks?

00:06:48:29 –> 00:06:50:22
Very recently. Very recently. I

00:06:50:22 –> 00:06:54:12
Trapped fox. Yes. Yes. Yes. Is that self-taught?

00:06:55:07 –> 00:06:55:16
Yeah.

00:06:55:26 –> 00:06:58:21
Did you buy leg holds the other day for, for the neighborhood cats?

00:06:59:24 –> 00:07:14:05
I did. I have not used them. I’m not going to, I had second thoughts. I dialed it back 50%. The stone dialed it way back. Yeah. Let’s put it this way. Yeah. If you live, what have I missed? If you live south of Highway 56 in the Cedar and you’ve smelled the scope, you now know where it came from.

00:07:14:05 –> 00:07:15:25
Have you replaced a fridge in a camp trailer?

00:07:16:15 –> 00:07:16:22
Yes.

00:07:16:25 –> 00:07:20:19
Have you replaced a heater in a camp trailer? Yes. Have you done the entire plumbing?

00:07:21:03 –> 00:07:46:18
Yes. Did you get, did you get high full of what was in the plumbing? Yes. Yeah. Yes. Oh yeah. My son, he bought a used cam trailer. I swear there were, it was like a mice mouse cemetery. It, it was so bad. So bad. Yeah. Anyway, that one pretty much gutted and replaced everything. John John’s a handy. He’s a handy

00:07:46:19 –> 00:07:47:24
John, have you built a website?

00:07:48:18 –> 00:07:50:27
Yes. Yeah. Of course. Many, many, many of those

00:07:51:09 –> 00:07:53:11
You the most amazing graphic designer.

00:07:53:24 –> 00:08:12:10
Yeah. But good lord ever made. He is ai. All images get routed to, he’s the AI checker. Graphic designers usually just say, here it is. And they turn it over to a machinist. Yeah. An engineer. Something. No, John takes everything 2D image on a screen and turns it to real life. Fanny pack Jason.

00:08:12:18 –> 00:08:15:00
I know he does. I know he does. I know he does.

00:08:15:12 –> 00:08:16:21
So, alright. Anyway,

00:08:16:27 –> 00:08:21:27
Okay. So I, off we go. Let’s, John, let’s quit talking about you. Why this? No. So why are we talking about you?

00:08:22:03 –> 00:08:25:06
It’s this new knife. I am impressed because it’s a great design.

00:08:25:09 –> 00:08:26:09
John, do you collect knives?

00:08:26:21 –> 00:08:27:09
I do collect knives.

00:08:28:01 –> 00:08:38:01
I do. How? Okay. I just want to quantify why you’re the expert here. And it’s because you have hundreds of ’em. Oh yeah. Okay. And you’ve, if it impress you, it impress us. Yes.

00:08:38:10 –> 00:08:38:17
Yes.

00:08:38:20 –> 00:08:39:27
Should we buy one of these? I

00:08:39:27 –> 00:08:40:07
Love knives.

00:08:40:15 –> 00:08:42:10
Should we buy one of these knives? Yes, for

00:08:42:10 –> 00:08:47:29
Sure. Absolutely. Okay. Just the, the, the design is freaking elegant and it just gives you elegant.

00:08:48:13 –> 00:08:49:23
It gives you a place. What about masculine?

00:08:50:12 –> 00:08:53:25
It’s masculine, elegant just means it’s, it’s a great

00:08:54:07 –> 00:08:55:01
Solution. But we have the viking,

00:08:55:16 –> 00:09:00:09
Is it Viking bike? Yeah. So you put the blades right in the freaking handle.

00:09:00:29 –> 00:09:01:27
It’s awesome. Nice. Pretty

00:09:01:27 –> 00:09:03:16
Cool. And, and they’re magnetic and it

00:09:03:21 –> 00:09:05:05
Actually works. Stay in there. Like they actually work.

00:09:05:06 –> 00:09:11:17
Yeah, they work. And nothing better than just, you know, your, your knife gets dull. You switch it out. You

00:09:11:17 –> 00:09:16:23
Know, it’s a good mix of artistic and, and functionality. Functionality. Yeah. Yeah.

00:09:16:23 –> 00:09:25:09
Yeah. Ergonomics could be thrown in that too. Could not work. I like that. Is that good word? Ergonomics. Okay. I’d add something to this discussion. So functionality maybe.

00:09:25:09 –> 00:09:28:16
Alright, so Viking, go for it. What do you, what do you take away on that? Well,

00:09:28:19 –> 00:09:34:00
Did you see that knife he whi out a minute ago over there? Well, the way he did it with father hand. Yeah.

00:09:34:03 –> 00:09:35:28
So filet a sturgeon with that thing.

00:09:36:02 –> 00:09:36:17
Exactly.

00:09:37:14 –> 00:09:41:11
Okay. You’re not supposed to kill sturgeons. They’re like 70 years old. Yeah,

00:09:41:17 –> 00:09:42:17
I heard their eggs are good.

00:09:45:01 –> 00:09:46:25
Sturgeon row. Yeah.

00:09:47:21 –> 00:09:49:18
He squeezes them out on his, on his

00:09:49:28 –> 00:09:53:24
Breakfast cereal biking. That’s on a vi duck. It’s spiking the sturgeon squeezer. You

00:09:53:24 –> 00:09:56:25
Think gold is is priced good right now? You should

00:09:57:10 –> 00:09:57:28
St Sturge

00:09:58:07 –> 00:09:59:04
Caviar. Oh

00:09:59:06 –> 00:10:00:24
Geez. Alright.

00:10:01:03 –> 00:10:06:23
I’m a viking. Have you had caviar? No. You’ve all eat it. Oh man. Whether

00:10:06:23 –> 00:10:08:15
You it or not, is it better than raw oysters?

00:10:08:15 –> 00:10:18:28
I’ll say. Yeah. It’s so there’s, I don’t think there’s a food that’s as drastic as if you get bad caviar. It’s so bad. Yeah. If you get good caviar, it’s so good. Really?

00:10:19:03 –> 00:10:20:11
Yeah. Where

00:10:20:11 –> 00:10:28:16
Would you get that? Where the salmon eggs rank on this? In France. In France. So salmon, eggs. Eggs, salmon, eggs, salmon, eggs in the middle. Salmon eggs are, yeah, they’re in the

00:10:28:16 –> 00:10:30:00
Middle. So if you go to cow ranch, get a,

00:10:30:11 –> 00:10:30:21
Get a little

00:10:30:25 –> 00:10:33:12
Salmon eggs. That would probably be considered bad. Cavi.

00:10:33:12 –> 00:10:34:28
Okay. Yeah. But it’s probably edible

00:10:35:14 –> 00:10:37:10
John better than the USA

00:10:37:18 –> 00:10:43:00
For culturally as far as living there? No. No, it sucks.

00:10:43:03 –> 00:10:44:18
But they’ve got some cool things. Mostly

00:10:44:18 –> 00:10:49:05
Because, you know, government ruins everything. Geez. So yeah. But

00:10:49:19 –> 00:10:50:13
Trump’s gonna fix that.

00:10:50:14 –> 00:10:54:00
Food wise. Food wise is so good. Oh my god. Is it?

00:10:54:05 –> 00:11:01:21
Sure. Thankful for french fries. I don’t know. Every time I have like French things, it’s a bland, it’s a very bland, we like sugar here in America. Yeah.

00:11:03:06 –> 00:11:03:17
Sugar,

00:11:04:15 –> 00:11:10:16
Sugar, salt and yeah. Sugar, salt and pepper and meat. Alright, let’s move

00:11:10:16 –> 00:11:10:21
Along.

00:11:10:23 –> 00:11:13:05
Okay. Move along. Who, who’s hooked up? What are we gonna do here? Okay,

00:11:13:05 –> 00:11:17:25
We’re going to, we’re going to dial in Will Morgan from Outdoor Edge. And he’s gonna explain,

00:11:18:14 –> 00:11:18:23
Dial

00:11:18:27 –> 00:11:28:03
Em in these new knives. So Logan didn’t introduce Logan today. He’s here. Appreciate it. Logan. Thanks for sticking with John. This You got it. Despite give you

00:11:28:03 –> 00:11:28:09
The mic.

00:11:28:15 –> 00:11:31:11
All right. Despite the heckling we give you from time

00:11:31:11 –> 00:11:33:18
To time, he deserves more. I’m getting pretty good at taking

00:11:33:18 –> 00:11:35:03
It. Yeah. Hey, how’s that finger going?

00:11:35:14 –> 00:11:36:12
Hey, what’s happening guys?

00:11:36:21 –> 00:11:37:06
There’s

00:11:37:06 –> 00:11:38:24
A face right there. How’s it going? Well

00:11:39:18 –> 00:11:40:10
Good, how are you

00:11:40:29 –> 00:11:42:15
Doing great. We’re doing great. Can you

00:11:42:15 –> 00:11:42:28
Hear everybody?

00:11:43:28 –> 00:11:45:11
I can. How’s the audio on my end?

00:11:45:23 –> 00:11:47:03
It’s good. It’s good. It’s really good.

00:11:47:11 –> 00:11:49:07
Yeah. Good. So, perfect.

00:11:49:19 –> 00:11:51:07
All right, John, well take it away from you.

00:11:51:07 –> 00:11:52:21
Yeah. We’re excited to have you on the

00:11:52:21 –> 00:12:58:13
Podcast and talk a little bit bit of hunting and also talk about your new knives, the new designs. And we kind of teed it up that I, I think you’ve hit a home run with this, with this new design on that A PX taking a big problem with what do you do, you know, packing and, and, and what do you do with the blades? And giving it a really good place to store ’em. For some of us, for some of us, a knife was a knife. Right. And then, and then we went to razor blades and that would’ve changed the whole world. Yeah. And I’m thinking, what else could we do? Right? How could we add onto that replaceable razor of knives anyway. And appears you’ve done it. John’s a knife collector. He puts a stamp of approval on it. Adam and I do whatever John says. So anyway, 50% of the time. Well, yeah. And then there’s some things we don’t do and we just don’t tell him. This is one of those. Absolutely. But anyway, this is an awesome, awesome opportunity for you to kind of tell the world what it is that you guys did different this time. And it, and it, it, there’s a lot obviously, but we wanna let you go ahead and dive into that.

00:12:59:14 –> 00:13:53:06
Yeah, no, absolutely. Thanks for having me guys. Yeah, I mean, like, like you said, you know, the replaceable blade concept, I mean, just an absolute home run as far as I’m concerned in the hunting world. Oh yeah. You know, our ferry first one was in 2013. I mean, we’re going on 12 years of, of selling replaceable blade knives. And you know, for the longest time they were very utilitarian and they were just sharp. And that was the purpose. They were, you know, they got the job done. But as you pointed out, there were some, you know, some downfalls in, in the system. What do you do with spare blades? Can we make it lighter? Can we make it more technical and, and provide a better experience? So, you know, as we started kind of, you know, ideating for, for these new lines, those were some major, you know, touch points that, that we keyed in on, you know, our entire design team and office.

00:13:53:11 –> 00:14:40:09
Were much like you guys, you know, we spent as, we don’t spend as much time in the field as you, but we all strive to. So, you know, we’re, we’re a group of hardcore hunters being Colorado based, you know, we’re hunting a lot of the same animals, you know, a lot of elk, deer, occasional moose, sheep, or goat. So we understand what it takes to, to kind of get into those, you know, more technical, more lighter weight, more premium, you know, replaceable blade knives. So yeah, so this year, out of our entire product assortment, the one I’m most excited about is our new Razor A PX. We just launched that a few weeks ago and you know, so far it’s just been a, you know, very well received. So a couple things that we did this year on it. You know, we, we did a two and a half inch as well as a three inch version.

00:14:41:12 –> 00:15:53:27
And you know what, like we talked about, the blade transport is always an issue. You know, you’re, you’re shoving them in back in the wrapper, tucking them in a pocket, and you’re buying no harness, hoping you don’t, you know, don’t cut yourself when you’re, you know, cleaning up after the hunt. So we, we know we had a big dream of can we figure out a way to store blades in the handle? And luckily we have some extremely talented engineers that are, you know, they’re always up for that kind of task. So, you know, what we did here is we created these silicon scales that, that snap on, you know, I’d say kind of much like a Tupperware container for, you know, better, better terms. And we have this little, you know, magnetic retention plate on there that now safely, you know, holds two blades on either side. So I can essentially grab this knife and I have five blades, two in each side, and one in the blade holder. And I would say from experience, man, that is, you know, you can do any North American big game with, with five blades. And now I don’t have to worry about spare blades or what I do after I, I have a bloody blade. I can, I can tuck it back in there, snap that cover on and, and we’re good to go.

00:15:54:03 –> 00:15:57:13
And it’s solid. They’re not janking around and no, it’s awesome. Like, they’re solid.

00:15:57:25 –> 00:16:25:18
You know what I mean? We put, we put those, those nice magnets in there. So, you know, as you’re pulling ’em out, your hands are wet and cold and bloody. You don’t have to worry about blades going flying. You know, they just, you know, really kind of slide out nicely. Take that out. You know, I think most people are familiar, you know, kind of with our, with our system, push that blade and, you know, slide that new one in there and you know, you, you’re, you’re ready to keep, you know, keep going and, you know, working on that animal. No

00:16:25:18 –> 00:16:36:12
Plastic, no leatherman juice. I mean, I packed one of those for 10 years, you know, ’cause you’re, you’re always a little bit nervous at times. Yeah, yeah. Right. And, you know, putting ’em on, putting ’em back in the

00:16:36:12 –> 00:16:38:14
Sometimes sleeve leather. Well, you know, I’ve,

00:16:38:14 –> 00:16:51:28
Little leatherman juice is about that big and it’s in my pack for only one reason. Yeah. Some of these safety features that ease to do the one-handed, you know, removal and all that has gotten a lot easier as well, in my opinion.

00:16:52:02 –> 00:17:39:15
So Yeah. Well, and we can always, I, I always, because the dealing with the changing of the blade, you always go longer than you should. Right. And the, the minute you’re gonna get hurt when that thing’s dull. Yeah. Yeah. And so you just, or you’re trying to conserve or you don’t have the blades, you gotta go back and get in your pack and you got bloody hands and all the things, all that. Exactly. And so then you just keep going on this dull blade, which is you’re putting more and more pressure, you’re gonna jack start acting. I don’t know how, I’m not dead start hack. I mean it’s, anyway, but, but here it is an opportunity, you know, to have everything in one. You’re not gonna have to dive back into your pack. You’re not gonna have to wonder how many blades you packed or, you know, how many blades you got on there. Or just five blade blades is, you could do a muskox, well you probably do a pama, a whole family of muskox. I mean, it’s seriously, I mean,

00:17:39:18 –> 00:17:40:27
More than anything, more than

00:17:40:29 –> 00:17:43:26
Anything, more than anything we got here. The lower 4K, what’s your average

00:17:43:26 –> 00:17:49:12
Of how many blades you use on an animal? I use one for the whole animal and one for the head. Yeah. One for

00:17:49:12 –> 00:17:54:11
The cape. I, that’s generally it too as well, generally, but if you went an extra blade, okay. It’s nicer.

00:17:54:14 –> 00:18:05:16
Sometimes elk, if you’re cutting off legs of big animals, you know, cutting the legs off, you start dealing with bone, they can dule faster, but maybe three. But bon a deer, sheep, I’ll, I’ll do one for the whole animal, one for

00:18:05:16 –> 00:18:06:15
The body and one for the head and one

00:18:06:15 –> 00:18:06:29
To cape the head.

00:18:07:24 –> 00:18:15:12
Yeah. I think a, a big driver is, is how clean is the animal? Is it middle of September and you shot a bull that just got out of a wall and he’s just cake it?

00:18:15:12 –> 00:18:16:04
Oh, yeah, yeah,

00:18:16:04 –> 00:18:32:28
Yeah. That, that’ll chew it up. Or you shooting, you know, you know, an antelope early season that’s nice and clean, you know. Yeah. That really is a big driver because I get that question all the time. Yeah. How many blades, how many blades does it take to do an animal? And, you know, yep. It is kind of case by case. But, but

00:18:32:28 –> 00:18:33:28
Three, three is not

00:18:34:10 –> 00:18:34:27
Three, three is,

00:18:35:13 –> 00:18:35:24
I mean, you’re

00:18:35:24 –> 00:18:41:01
Not, unless you’re rarely irresponsible in what, what you’re doing. So I think five totally covers you. Totally

00:18:41:01 –> 00:18:52:10
Covers You go home, start off on a new hunt, make sure you’ve got a full set of blades on one knife in the handle. Yeah. And one set ready to go. And, and you’re perfect. You’re set

00:18:52:10 –> 00:19:06:29
Up. And I think the outdoor edge design on the replaceable blade is the safest that, that I’ve used. Yes. Yeah. You know, of course. I mean, I’ve been very, very nervous before and this design is way better than I’ve used in the past. Yeah, absolutely. Awesome.

00:19:07:25 –> 00:19:14:19
Okay. Right, right on. So any other features that you want to talk about or models? Of course, we’ve got some other products right here in

00:19:14:24 –> 00:20:04:25
This knife has got a lot of cool tricks in my opinion. So, you know, a as I showed, you know, you can pull those scales off. There’s that little magnetic retention plate. We have three little, you know, assembly screws in there. You can back those screws out, pop those, those magnetic retention plates off. And then you’re left with a really nice, clean, sleek, ultra light weight design. This is something you could, you know, tuck in your chest rig if you, you know, really want to cut that weight, cut that bulk and then, you know, you could, you know, put your spare blades in there as well. And then you’re, you’re running a really kind of, you know, slick approach in my opinion. Yeah. So like our two and a half inch that’s, you know, just a touch over two ounces. Yeah. Which that’s, that there’s a, there’s a lot of knife in, you know, in two, you know, in a two ounce knife.

00:20:05:19 –> 00:20:40:17
And personally, I’m, I’m a big fan of the two and a half inch blade over the three inch blade. You know, I think, you know, to, you know, you can get a lot done with that small blade, you know, let’s face a lot of times lights fading. You’re up on a mountain side, it’s steep, you know, less blade I think is a lot safer. And, you know, we’ve done, we’ve done elk with two and a half inch blades all the time, quartering them completely out and, you know, really had no issue with it. So, so yeah. There’s kind of, you know, multiple configurations on how you want to carry that knife. And personally I just think this looks, this looks, it looks, it

00:20:40:17 –> 00:20:44:27
Looks cut off. It’s, you know, John, does that pass the artistic too?

00:20:45:11 –> 00:21:04:16
Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, I I, before you were on, I used the word elegant and I got some pushback on it, but I mean, I, I I think elegant design doesn’t mean bad necessarily. Yeah. I mean, there you go. It change the vocabulary a little bit, but doesn’t necessarily mean bad. But I, I think it’s a, it’s a really great design. This

00:21:04:16 –> 00:21:06:21
Is something John would’ve designed. I love

00:21:06:21 –> 00:21:21:01
That. Right. The thing I like too is I, I think I would use it in that form because it’s still very comfortable to hold. Its lightweight, but you can actually like screw those scales together and still use that to carry your blades in. You can keep that in your pack or whatever if you want to. So you can still, okay, so

00:21:21:01 –> 00:21:27:12
We’ve talked about the blades in it, like kind of, kind of a take, basically a handle that’s not dealing with the knife anymore.

00:21:27:12 –> 00:21:29:03
Yeah. It’s a blade holder. It’s not really a handle. Slap

00:21:29:06 –> 00:21:29:15
’em together.

00:21:29:23 –> 00:21:43:23
There you go. You screw ’em together and you could still, that’s still your blade container or holder or whatever, and you keep that in your pack and then just have the knife and use it without ’em if you want. So it’s, that’s still pretty cool. You still can utilize that magnetized handle to hold the blades for you.

00:21:44:12 –> 00:21:47:23
Pretty awesome. Geez. That’s crazy. This is awesome.

00:21:47:25 –> 00:21:51:10
Yeah. Then, then the three inch, you’ve got even more features, right?

00:21:51:20 –> 00:21:54:05
Oh, I know. I was, I was gonna jump into that. Don’t, don’t let

00:21:54:05 –> 00:21:54:12
The cat

00:21:55:12 –> 00:22:07:18
Just tell me before we leave the two and a half or what, why just the overall size just is perfect for North American big game. I mean, why the two and a half versus three in, and then we’ll dive into three. Some guys are gonna want a bigger knife.

00:22:07:25 –> 00:22:50:17
Yeah. I mean, you know, if if we, if we, if we look at ’em side by side, you know, the, the three inches is definitely a much larger handle. ’cause we had to accommodate Yeah. For those spare blades. It’s still, I mean, extremely comfortable knife fits in the hand. Well, you know, like I said, my, my personal preference on the two and a half is I prefer a smaller blade if, you know, especially deer and antelope smaller an, you know, if I’m just field dressing and not worrying about quartering it, I like having that smaller blade, you know, plus it takes up significantly less space in the pack. It cuts, you know, quite a bit of weight off of the overall platform. We definitely didn’t want to go up in size. So like I say, a three and a half inch Yeah. Solely based on how

00:22:50:17 –> 00:22:51:29
Do we’re getting into this big hole.

00:22:52:26 –> 00:22:53:05
Yeah.

00:22:53:21 –> 00:22:55:27
Sturgeon knife Viking.

00:22:56:17 –> 00:22:57:15
Yeah, exactly.

00:22:59:16 –> 00:23:01:05
Anyway, okay. Perfect.

00:23:02:02 –> 00:24:01:22
Yeah, so that, that’s kind of, you know, we’re, we’re, you know, all the input from, you know, not only the product team but also our, our internal team of, of hunters and avid outdoorsmen. We really, you know, when we go into these products, it’s not built in a, in a silo. We, we pull in, you know, internal input. I talk to friends, I talk to guides and outfitters. And that’s really how, how we, you know, you know, come to creating some of these new models that we did. So yeah, the, the three inch is definitely, you know, from a functionality standpoint, more of a workhorse knife given some other other benefits. So one thing we were able to figure out this year is kind of re-engineering our blade holder and adding what we’re calling saw safe, which is a secondary lock. And what that allows us to do is now you can, you know, place a, a three inch bone saw in your pack and it’s not necessarily just a bone saw.

00:24:01:23 –> 00:24:44:16
I mean, maybe you’re brushed out a ground blind and there’s a twig or you’re up in your tree stand and you gotta, you know, take down a little sucker off of a limb. Now you don’t have to rummage through your pack. You have, you have a little lightweight saw right there. So what we did is on the back, we added that little, that little lock there and that locks out our blade release button and overcomes that excessive push pull motion of sawing to make sure that that saw blade is completely in there. And you know, and if you want, you can also engage that, that lock for use of use of the, the knife blade as well. But what that, like I said, what that does is that that complete locks out that pin mechanism in there. So I can push that button. And that thing is, you’re

00:24:44:16 –> 00:24:45:21
Not, it’s not moving anywhere.

00:24:45:29 –> 00:25:08:01
It’s not going, I mean, I could, you know, zip up through the sternum on an animal, you know, maybe I want to take the, the legs off if I, you know, try to cut down weight if I’m not, you know, feeling the, you know, work the knife through that knuckle joint, I can, I can soft through that or, you know, maybe I’m field dressed in a deer and I just want to cut the pelvic bone. So I we’re really trying to create more of a kind of a, a multi

00:25:08:03 –> 00:25:09:18
Tool, a multi utility

00:25:10:00 –> 00:25:56:07
To our, to our knives where yeah, you could, you know, you can field dress, you can cape, you can, you know, bone now you can saw all with one knife. Wow. And then, you know, with that, obviously trying to store a saw blade into the blade into the handle is gonna have its own limitations because of the, you know, the, the profile of that saw blade. So with that three inch, we included a little, little blade storage pod. So polymer box, it’s got three compartments in there, store six blades, your saw, and then this as simple as this is, this is one of my little favorite add-ons we’re throwing in. Yeah. It’s just a little micro cleanup brush. It’s got a, it’s got a pick on the backside.

00:25:56:08 –> 00:26:07:16
Hey, you could use this as a toothbrush. These people are cut off their toothbrush handle. Yeah. I mean here. Yeah. Just safe space. Yeah. Hey, I’m just saying multi-tool right there.

00:26:07:16 –> 00:26:28:25
Yeah. So, you know, so now you’re, you know, your blade holder gets gunked up. Maybe, you know, you shot a, a late season deer, it’s cold, there’s hair and fat in that blade holder. You can, you know, run that little pick in there, you know, clean that out, run that brush in there. So then when you’re, you know, swapping out blades in the field, you know you’re gonna get a good, good seat in there. So that blade’s nice and secured.

00:26:29:09 –> 00:26:59:15
Wow. That’s crazy. What haven’t you thought of? I mean, what’s next year’s problem? This is what I love, solving problems right there. I mean, anybody who’s used these knows these are, these are solutions. I’m the guy that never knew there was a problem until there’s a solution. Then I’m like, yeah, there was a problem. Why didn’t we think of that? There was before. Yeah, exactly. I killed myself a hundred times. No, this is good stuff, man. And, and solid. That’s what, I can’t believe all the moving parts, but then how solid it is when everything’s put together. It’s just like, there’s no moving parts on it. It’s that solid.

00:27:00:11 –> 00:27:00:17
Absolutely.

00:27:00:24 –> 00:27:27:01
Yeah. I mean that’s, that’s really hats off to our engineering team. Those guys are, you know, we dream up the ideas and you know, we’re sketching on napkins and designing it and then we kick it to our engineer team and they roll their eyes, but they’re always up, up to the task and yeah. They knock it outta the park to make sure that, you know, the structural integrity’s there, all the functions there without compromising the design of the knife that, that we want to have.

00:27:27:21 –> 00:27:33:27
Wow. Right on. So are these available for the public? Like how do, how does launch they get their hands on these or when

00:27:34:01 –> 00:27:53:23
Yeah, no, great, great question. Yeah, so like I said, we, you know, we just kind of started launching our, our entire 2025 catalog over the past couple weeks. So, you know, you can go to outdoor edge.com, buy ’em, we got ’em on Amazon and they’re getting loaded into all of, all of our major retail partners and dealers across the country. So, you know, they’re

00:27:53:23 –> 00:27:55:15
Gonna go fast. That’s my prediction. They they

00:27:55:15 –> 00:27:56:10
Are, yeah. They’re

00:27:56:10 –> 00:28:00:19
Great timing. It’s may, I mean, everybody’s starting to think about equipment and gear and Yeah,

00:28:00:27 –> 00:28:15:24
Well we got spring bear season and, you know, tail end of Turkey season and the next thing we know, I mean, what antelope’s gonna be opening up, you know, sheep up north will start, you know, turning on and then, and then that’s just the, you know, the kickoff to all the other fun stuff we’ll be doing this fall.

00:28:16:09 –> 00:28:33:15
Pretty awesome. Any other major differences in the two and a half to three other than the size? I, I mean you not just the knife itself, not the, not the blade storage pod or anything like that with the three inch, but is it just a, is it simply just a, just a little bit bigger beak work

00:28:33:15 –> 00:28:34:22
Size, version size and saw size,

00:28:34:22 –> 00:28:39:25
End size and, and saw and you know, and size and saw Yeah, exactly. Size and saw. Size and saw are the two

00:28:40:01 –> 00:28:46:03
I was gonna say visually they look I identical more, more or less identical. Yep. So there, there were a few different,

00:28:47:06 –> 00:28:47:13
You know,

00:28:47:27 –> 00:28:52:15
Blade options. Yeah. The pack where you can choke up on one for,

00:28:52:25 –> 00:28:53:01
You know,

00:28:53:13 –> 00:28:56:19
Taping a gut hook. So stick with the one you July the

00:28:56:19 –> 00:28:57:21
Keeping blade three inch.

00:28:58:02 –> 00:29:04:13
Yeah. Buy the ones you like after you get, you get the first initial and then you buy the ones you really love after that. Yeah. Just

00:29:04:13 –> 00:29:25:17
Like, yeah. So I mean, yeah, a three inch, it’s compatible with all of our three inch blades. Same with the same with the two and a half. Anything that’s, you know, two and a half or labeled two 50, that’s kind of our numeric indicator that, that will allow that knife to accept those blades. And same on the three inch, 300 or three inch, all those blades plug right into that, that blade holder seamlessly.

00:29:25:29 –> 00:29:50:05
Yeah. I kinda like this, this one blade would be like a caping blade I guess you could say that allows you, it’s kinda got a little finger hole that’s up higher. Yeah. For like, say if you’re getting around the base of an antler on an elk or, or a deer or something like that. And you need to, you don’t need that long a blade to do it. No. It can kind of get in your way. So you can get in there around the base of a sheep, something, whatever. I like those. You can peel that hair back and you’re right there next to it. And it’s just a little short blade to do that with. That’s, that’s pretty cool.

00:29:51:07 –> 00:29:54:22
Yeah. The taxidermist coming out and Josh, he’s, he’s done a lot

00:29:54:25 –> 00:30:03:13
Of that. You, you’d love the two and a half then for that you can really, you know, like a little pencil and Yep. Get all those detailed cuts around the eyes, the ducks.

00:30:03:28 –> 00:30:11:25
Yes. Pretty awesome. Wow. So I’m the guy that’s gonna order like a hundred spare blades. I need ’em in every truck,

00:30:12:16 –> 00:30:22:15
Every pack. Don’t you just don’t want to have, you don’t have to order ’em for a while. We go through dozens of, of fall. Wow. You do. Between ourselves, kids, guided clients, whatever. So

00:30:22:27 –> 00:30:37:05
I contend that that’s what is gonna revolutionize our legacy here on this earth. You know, a lot of Native Americans, they leave arrowheads around for stories. You know, you find an arrow arrowhead. Yes. These are these, are they 20, 25 Hunter Arrowhead?

00:30:37:27 –> 00:30:38:27
This is from a warrior.

00:30:39:05 –> 00:30:39:13
Yeah.

00:30:39:23 –> 00:30:42:05
I wonder what was killed here. Look at this. This

00:30:42:05 –> 00:30:43:11
Is sharper than any rock I’ve ever

00:30:43:11 –> 00:30:51:11
Seen. Then you’ll see some other brands that are like broken halfway, you know, and they fly off in the middle of nowhere and they’re like, oh, if this was whole, this would be an awesome one. So

00:30:53:02 –> 00:30:53:11
Yeah,

00:30:53:14 –> 00:30:54:21
Now they’ve got these features where

00:30:54:21 –> 00:30:57:01
You could, I’m hoping people aren’t, people aren’t leaving the blades in the,

00:30:57:15 –> 00:30:58:23
They’re not, they’re not

00:30:59:05 –> 00:31:00:05
Supposed to be. Other people might,

00:31:01:04 –> 00:31:03:25
We wanna make sure that they’re responsible blade management and

00:31:04:04 –> 00:31:05:19
That’s what the case, that’s what the case is

00:31:05:19 –> 00:31:07:12
Like now we got a reason for that. I

00:31:07:21 –> 00:31:21:17
Think there’s validity to that. Where did, I mean, when you have the old gold blades where you’re putting ’em, you’re putting ’em in, you know, your pack, just in some kind of storage, mud drop, whatever. Once, once in a while you’re put that’s back in this little plastic thing. And you know, trying to keep it away

00:31:21:17 –> 00:31:29:25
From That’s what is nice about the carrier too. You know, you can throw your old ones in there. It’s actually got some holes drilled in it. So it’s gonna breathe too. It’s not gonna pull this thing

00:31:30:00 –> 00:31:31:17
Real, real gunked up. Yeah.

00:31:31:22 –> 00:31:36:11
You’re not gonna pull it out in four months when you’re done. And full of bowls gonna smell like culture’s.

00:31:36:11 –> 00:31:40:09
The next COVID 26 is gonna start in one of those if it’s not drill up. That’s

00:31:40:09 –> 00:32:03:18
Right. It’s funny stuff. ’cause I mean, we’d cut off the coyote ears Right. For the bounty or back in the day when you’re younger anyway, don’t do that much anymore. But anyway, we’d make a peanut butter sandwich on the tailgate and I mean, you know, it’s a used knife, Jenna. And kids would be like, wild dog. Did you cut out the coyotes? Yeah, in 1943. It’s fine. It’s all dried, you know, we’re good now. This is a peanut butter sandwich. This is sterile. It’s sterile. We’re good now.

00:32:03:18 –> 00:32:07:15
You got brushes and blades for each species. Yeah. Take care of. So anyway,

00:32:07:23 –> 00:32:22:09
Good point. All no, I’m, that’s cool. I’m loving that. Aside from the light here, light stuff are, are any other products that you wanna talk about? I know you guys are nonstop engineering tons of different things. Anything else you wanna talk about? Or is this pretty much

00:32:22:09 –> 00:32:47:25
Yeah, we can, we can jump into some other stuff. Yeah, so, you know, this year we had I think 26 or 27 new products. Wow. Giant year for outdoor edge. Wow. But you know, we really are focusing on razor. I mean, I think we can all agree it’s, that’s what we need. You know, it’s one, it’s one of the solutions. You know, sharpening knife sucks. I always, I always tell people that, and even good knives get dull over time. So yeah, we build,

00:32:47:25 –> 00:32:49:23
There’s, there’s very few guys that are good at sharpening

00:32:49:23 –> 00:33:26:10
A knife. Well, we tease a lot too, will like our boys, like our dads taught us, you know, we, we used, I used bear razor heads growing up and you know, he’d sharpen ’em before the bow hunting and you’d tell it could cut your hair on your, your arm. It’s wys wikis or bear razor head. Both those and your knife, your knife had to be sharp before you went hunting. And you know, by before bow season start opening your arms had no hair on ’em. You know, and that’s what you did. And now we kind of joke that we’ve not really passed that. Call it an arc. No, I mean, I remember in fifth, I remember in fifth grade, you know, you had to do a speech presentation to your class. And I remember taking my knives and showing the class,

00:33:26:12 –> 00:33:27:10
Which guy you would be in jail.

00:33:27:15 –> 00:33:39:09
I would be in jail now. But I had, I showed ’em how to sharpen knives in fifth grade. It was my, you know, your talent communications deal. I don’t know, it was it for communications or whatever. So, and now my, I’ve never even taught my boy how to do that. No.

00:33:39:09 –> 00:33:39:13
Well if

00:33:39:25 –> 00:33:40:05
He grew up

00:33:40:05 –> 00:33:42:29
In the era, if he gave him a sharpening stone, he would look at you like you’re stupid.

00:33:43:00 –> 00:33:43:22
It’s like, what is this?

00:33:43:26 –> 00:33:45:01
What is this? This is a

00:33:45:01 –> 00:34:01:18
Sharpening stone. But, but it’s true. It’s the era. Like you, you guys, you know, 2012 or 13 I think you said. I I mean about when they really started following us, we’ve had these their whole life really. They’ve had our outdoor edge knives with them and like they know no different. Like, dad, gimme a blade. That’s how they sharpen their knife. That’s

00:34:01:18 –> 00:34:01:22
How they

00:34:01:22 –> 00:34:03:27
Sharpen. And I tell, I don’t know how to sharpen it. That’s

00:34:04:08 –> 00:34:04:21
How to sharp.

00:34:04:29 –> 00:34:06:24
It’s really, I feel bad in a way it,

00:34:07:01 –> 00:34:10:21
But it’s kind of like a compass. What do you, what am I gonna do with this? We got

00:34:11:00 –> 00:34:11:06
GPS

00:34:11:08 –> 00:34:13:04
Stuff. Go find the truck. Really? Yeah,

00:34:13:04 –> 00:34:22:21
It’s exactly same thing. Get a map and orient the map and, and, and use it. I, my dad is a surveyor, so I, I grew up with that stuff. Yeah. He, he had to show us with a map.

00:34:22:27 –> 00:34:24:29
I still have a compass in my pack, but I don’t know what to do with it.

00:34:25:01 –> 00:34:32:06
But the same thing with knives and it’s just very, I feel bad in a way, but I’m not, I, I don’t, not m not gonna go back and revert to

00:34:32:11 –> 00:34:33:15
Teaching. No, you can buy more plates.

00:34:33:15 –> 00:34:39:10
Yeah. So you’re saying when you go to the expo and you see all these guys walking around with flat bas and they’re freshly shaved arms, they sharpen their knives.

00:34:39:25 –> 00:34:41:05
Is that what you, is

00:34:41:05 –> 00:34:44:13
That what that means? No. What I thought it was something else, but I didn’t know that was a term of

00:34:44:13 –> 00:34:44:27
They’re using

00:34:44:29 –> 00:34:46:07
Good hunter. They’re using narrative.

00:34:46:09 –> 00:34:46:17
You know,

00:34:46:22 –> 00:34:55:28
Maybe lo bear would know what they’re doing. How, why are these guys all shaved down? Logan? Hey, the na flies off the shelf is always okay. Alright.

00:34:55:28 –> 00:35:00:27
Alright. Alright. Will, well let’s let, will maybe talk about a couple more projects so we get on our,

00:35:01:16 –> 00:35:06:22
In the wes the projects that might Yeah. Just a fun couple of the fun projects that just shows the Yeah. You know, the

00:35:06:27 –> 00:35:09:00
Other options than the replaceable stuff. Yep,

00:35:09:02 –> 00:35:09:17
Exactly.

00:35:10:11 –> 00:36:29:16
Well, I mean, like I said, that that’s kind of our, our, our bread and butter. It is replaceable what we’re known for. But yeah, so, you know, we also just kind of did a, a big facelift on, you know, call it more of your everyday hunter. Your, that person is less concerned about weight, less concern about bulk. So we came out with a, a line called Razor, HTX, which is also available right now online web, Amazon, and, and all of our other retail partners. So that line has consists of three folders and two fixed blades. Okay. You know, they’re, they’re, they’re really nice knives, great ergonomics. We put a nice non-slip, you know, coating on those. Once again, they’re, you know, the folders with the lock back. I think my opinion lock backs are arguably one of the safest locking mechanisms on a knife. Which, you know, that’s why, you know, we, we landed on sticking with that lock back for hunting knives. So like I said, there’s a a three, a three and a half. And then we also, you know, came out the big five excursion. Got that, that, you know, knife kind of curved boning blade on there. Good flex on there. So if you’re working around joints, you know, if you’re, if you’re really taking down a complete animal and boning it in the field, that’s awesome. Yeah. But that blade’s also really great in the kitchen at home when you’re processing game too. Geez. There you

00:36:29:16 –> 00:36:42:27
Go. Yeah. I see. If you having a boost or something, you need a, that’s bigger knife like that. Yeah. And it’s replaceable, you know. Yeah. You need a moose, you need a, you need a bigger knife than a knife. You wouldn’t believe the knife, the janky knife are so big kitchen.

00:36:43:02 –> 00:36:44:11
Yeah, no, I mean I, that’s

00:36:44:11 –> 00:36:44:16
My fault.

00:36:45:22 –> 00:36:49:25
I got my Colorado moose two years ago and that was, this is my favorite blade on. Yeah.

00:36:50:10 –> 00:36:53:10
I mean you’re just so much meat to Yes. Bone off a loose

00:36:53:13 –> 00:37:45:16
If you can’t quarter be hot, having that long stroke of that blade, it really, you know, it was, it was a lifesaver. And then we did, like I said, some fixed blades as well. So we have a three and a three and a half inch fixed blade that, that come in a drop point compatible sheath. And then we added, you know, kind of a modular bolt on clip system so you can orient orientate this if you want to carry it, you know, on your shoulder strap or you want to turn the clip sideways or carry it on your belt or you know, just pull that, pull that off and run that sheath. Lot of the same construction, you know, nice ergonomics. You get that good pinch grip while, while you’re skinning non-slip grip. And then we did some nice jumping down the back so you get that good positive grip. And these knives are also all compatible with that same sauce, safe locking mechanism. So,

00:37:47:21 –> 00:37:48:00
Nice.

00:37:49:03 –> 00:38:20:03
So I can, I can, I can pull that, pull that sow outta my blade pod and, and there you and there you go. Now. Wow. Now once again, that same kind of multi tool mentality approach to our hunting knives where I could, I could run this three and a half inch with a, you know, a gutting blade, a drop point. I can put that big boning blade in there. Now I can put that saw blade in there and Wow. Now I’m confident with one knife. Yeah. Any, any animal’s not safe out there. Oh

00:38:20:03 –> 00:38:36:28
Yeah, I see that. That’d breaking moose down no matter what. You need one that cutoff legs. Like I said, if you, if you’re not hitting a knuckle on a moose and you get sick of it, all right. Gimme the saw blade. Gimme the saw blade. So bloody and dirty. And I’ve been walling in a lake and I can’t feel it ’cause it’s down in the water. Okay. I mean, there’s tired

00:38:37:13 –> 00:38:38:27
Does all that stuff. It does happen.

00:38:39:08 –> 00:39:05:29
So, exactly. We’ve thought about everything. And like I said, the the attachment stuff, you know, whether it’s up here on your hip, you know, those, a lot of those are just personal preference things. How you’ve, how you’ve gotten the habit of using knives. Some people, you know, I have some of the hunters that I hunt with or, or guys that hunt with me, they, they wear their knife a certain way. And I, I’m like, why do you do that? Well that’s just how I’ve always done it. Well you’re not gonna change that about somebody that likes it in a certain spot and that’s where they like it. So you’ve made

00:39:05:29 –> 00:39:26:00
Some Yeah. So give that opportunity of carrying it how they want to is was a big, you know, goal of ours on, on all these honey knives now, you know, we opted to not put a clip on the AP PX Yeah. Just ’cause we wanted to keep that footprint as small as possible. Yeah. And a light is, you know, slip that into your chest rig or put it in the pocket in your pack. Pretty,

00:39:26:00 –> 00:39:27:07
Pretty Awesome. I love that.

00:39:27:15 –> 00:39:33:10
That was awesome. Love. So your Colorado moose, you said that, when was that two years ago you said?

00:39:33:29 –> 00:39:36:10
That was 23.

00:39:36:24 –> 00:39:40:16
Wow. Okay. Yeah. Tell us a little bit about that. Huh? Two years. Yeah. I mean, yeah.

00:39:40:16 –> 00:39:40:28
Was what

00:39:40:28 –> 00:39:49:12
Did you end up, what did, now that you draw these collar out on moose tags, you can, you have different seasons and different weapons when you draw the tag, you have go from archery m loaded to rifle,

00:39:49:28 –> 00:39:53:07
You use any of them and Yeah. You know, but what, yeah, what unit unit did you have?

00:39:54:17 –> 00:39:59:01
I was up in 18 and 180 1. Sure. So kind of that.

00:39:59:02 –> 00:39:59:19
Oh yeah, yeah.

00:40:00:13 –> 00:40:02:29
That’d be like west of Rocky Mountain National Park.

00:40:03:02 –> 00:40:05:27
Yep. Crim area. Area. Yep. Yep, yep.

00:40:06:12 –> 00:40:06:21
Gabi

00:40:06:22 –> 00:40:21:12
No, it was, it was remarkable. I mean, I remember I was sitting in the carwash washing my truck and I opened my phone and, you know, I’m so used to like sheep unsuccessful, goat unsuccessful. Yeah. Moose successful. I’m like, whoa.

00:40:21:14 –> 00:40:23:00
Holy shit. I

00:40:23:00 –> 00:41:12:15
Can’t believe that though. I mean, I dedicated every weekend, all summer, pounded the miles. Yeah. Looked at just, you know, a ton of country. Found a, found a lot of animals. I mean the, the moose population. It was, it was immense. I mean, there were surprise. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, every single time I’d go out I’d see four or five moose, cows, calves, bulls. So, wow. You know, going into the season, you know, real, real optimistic that it, it was gonna work out and yeah. What’s what’s cool is they do those, you know, any weapon, so you can hunt all the seasons. So it opens on muzzle loader, so you can hunt, muzzle loader, archery, and then it goes into, in October it switches over to rifle. So I spent every chance I could during the month of September, chasing him with my bow. Probably saw the best bull of the season, opening weekend.

00:41:14:03 –> 00:41:53:29
Got within about 15 yards of him in the thick, you know, 10, 12 foot willows. And I could just see his body on the other side. And you know, we played cat and mouse for about three hours. I think there were, there were nine moose in that area, three bowls. And the rest were cows. Like I said, played cat and mouse. I, I can never turn that bowl back up, unfortunately. But just, you know, tons of great encounters during archery season. And then I convinced my 65-year-old dad to come out from Wisconsin and hunt with me. I’m like, look, I got a moose tag. Like I’m, I’m not gonna hunt moose in Colorado. My checkbook’s not big enough to, you know, go up north, hunt the big moose,

00:41:54:02 –> 00:41:57:00
Bring a back brace and a pack and let’s go. Yeah. I’m like this,

00:41:57:00 –> 00:42:47:18
This is your chance to come out. So, so he came out, we hunted the tail end of archery into rifle. I had a couple other buddies that weekend they had to peel out for, you know, work workout obligations, but I had like 10 days off and, you know, logged him in like two miles or so, got set up and he and I, you know, we, we got it done. Wow. You know, ended up getting a nice moose for the area. He is, I think he was like a five and a half year old. So nice. You know, he wasn’t the oldest bull, but he was a, he was a big body, real, real good animal. And you know, I think nine hours later we had him completely outta the woods and Oh wow, dude. It was, it was good. I was, you know, it was an amazing experience to share with, with my dad to bring him out and, you know, strap a, a front shoulder on his pack and watch his eyes go, woo, this is big, but

00:42:47:24 –> 00:42:48:17
This is not a white job

00:42:48:17 –> 00:43:00:10
Trip after trip. We, we, we know we got it done. So that was, that was, that was a really, you know, memorable experience. Now I’m just waiting for all my friends to draw moose tag so I can, you know, get out there and do more of that.

00:43:00:13 –> 00:43:01:09
Wow. Yeah. That’s awesome.

00:43:01:13 –> 00:43:09:15
Well, we should know in what, about three weeks or so Colorado come out with their stuff the last week of May. It’s just kind of trickles out. May 30th. And they’re,

00:43:09:24 –> 00:43:13:23
My boy’s been asking me when did we find out about tes? When did we find out about Tes?

00:43:14:00 –> 00:43:25:15
It’s coming up. May’s finally here. And, and yeah, Colorado Moose are, they’re really for shiru moose. There’s no better state right now. They’re awesome for big for moose and they’re just been, they’re just expanding all over the state.

00:43:26:05 –> 00:43:31:09
Yeah. I mean during, during the hunt, I mean, I saw over 30 different bulls.

00:43:31:19 –> 00:43:32:16
That’s, wow.

00:43:33:06 –> 00:43:40:03
That’s a lot for a, for an animal that’s more of a solitary or Yeah. Small group. You’re not, you don’t see herds of ’em like elk. So it’s, that’s a lot.

00:43:40:27 –> 00:43:44:07
Did that big bull just disappear on you once the rut started kicking in? Or he

00:43:44:07 –> 00:43:51:21
Did? Yeah. I, I, I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know a ton about moose, but I was talking to some guys up there and they say once the rut starts, yeah, they’re moving.

00:43:51:21 –> 00:43:52:01
Those

00:43:52:07 –> 00:44:07:25
Will find the, find the hot cow and they push ’em up high to breed them. Oh. So I think he just pushed it out of this swampy basin and he was probably up, up high in the timber somewhere. But I ended up shooting the bull at that same spot where we saw that, that good one. Oh,

00:44:08:00 –> 00:44:11:01
There you go. Yeah. Really cool. All right. That’s awesome.

00:44:11:07 –> 00:44:22:13
Okay, anything else we haven’t covered that you wanna, that’s awesome. Touch on, you’ve got a lot of products here. Like I said, you dropped your website and they’re gonna be showing up. You said if they’re not already starting to show up, but very soon in retail areas here throughout.

00:44:22:13 –> 00:44:47:21
Yeah, we’re, we’re shipping out orders, you know, every day to retail. But yeah, the full catalog’s on the website, you know, we, we will be releasing new product, you know, over the next, you know, two, three weeks still. We got some other, you know, kind of carry knives, work inspired knives as well that we’re, we’re pushing out and we got some really exciting stuff coming this fall on the game processing side as well. So there’s never

00:44:47:21 –> 00:44:49:01
Done look to. Yeah.

00:44:49:07 –> 00:44:49:13
Wow.

00:44:50:06 –> 00:45:01:07
Well, we’ll have to get you back on later for some of that, but this is awesome. I can’t wait to, like I said before, when we get done with this, we’re gonna go order the blades because we, we have a big supply here. We usually get the office. Well

00:45:01:07 –> 00:45:03:29
I have a feeling you and I are gonna need some knives. These are johns. Well, yeah,

00:45:04:15 –> 00:45:09:22
That’s a gift. But, but you, you need, you only need one knife. You need a lot of blades. So, so

00:45:10:11 –> 00:45:11:24
I’ll, I’ll take care of you guys. You know that

00:45:12:17 –> 00:45:17:10
Well, yeah. We’re not gonna overstep our welcome ’cause we get a lot of blades. Just gonna

00:45:17:10 –> 00:45:19:16
Say that. We’re glad to Sure you have enough right now,

00:45:21:16 –> 00:45:38:06
But will appreciate your time. It’s been great. We’ve had a great partnership with you guys. You guys are always thinking always. That’s right. Trying to innovate and improve and, and think you’ve done it. I’m looking forward to putting this, I’m think I’m gonna grab the two and a half. That’s the one I think I’m doing too. I do mostly me too and half with deer and a lot of sheep. You know, I don’t, I don’t need enough.

00:45:38:06 –> 00:45:39:04
And you could do it elk just fine.

00:45:39:08 –> 00:45:50:23
You could if I need to. Absolutely. But 90% of what I do, probably, like you alluded, that’s probably what I’m gonna go to just to be lighter and all that. Don’t need quite a, a bigger blade on most of the stuff I have. That’s right,

00:45:51:02 –> 00:45:51:21
Me too. And

00:45:51:22 –> 00:46:10:29
A lot of times, even if they’re not in retail locations, a lot of times a knife. Like it’s kind of the feel of it and whether you fall in love with it. But this one I guarantee like no, those APIs, ones sight unseen by sight, unseen by it. You won’t be disappointed. I said there’s just nothing, there’s nothing there to hate. It’s, there’s two ounces. There’s two ounces you said. Right. Nothing

00:46:10:29 –> 00:46:12:10
Hate on. Yeah. Two. How

00:46:12:10 –> 00:46:15:03
Can you hate the two ounce? About two ounces. Yeah. There’s nothing to

00:46:15:06 –> 00:46:16:17
Sharp razor knife. That’s

00:46:16:17 –> 00:46:18:25
Right. And light. And it feels great. Anyway.

00:46:19:02 –> 00:46:19:27
Half safe too.

00:46:20:15 –> 00:46:25:03
Absolutely. Like the little sheath too, obviously on a, on a straight bud. You need something like that. So anyway,

00:46:25:18 –> 00:46:27:15
All. Yep. Okay. Well right

00:46:27:15 –> 00:46:28:19
On. Appreciate will appreciate it.

00:46:28:20 –> 00:46:31:16
Thank you. Hey, thanks a lot Will. Thanks Will. Thank you. Good luck in the draws. Have

00:46:31:16 –> 00:46:32:07
A great weekend. Yep,

00:46:32:07 –> 00:46:33:05
Likewise. Okay.

00:46:33:10 –> 00:46:33:21
All right.

00:46:34:20 –> 00:46:49:07
Okay. It’s pretty awesome to talk to Will. He knows his stuff. The company’s incredible. We appreciate their partnership with them. Of course, it’s easy to be partners with people that make the first class products that they do. And so anyway, it’s awesome to have ’em on. Bronson. We’ve had a lot of drought results this last week.

00:46:49:07 –> 00:47:08:16
There’s been a flurry, there’s, I don’t think anybody in our office has landed. It’s mostly been sheep, moose, goat type stuff. And you know, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana. So we’re all tagless. You tagless. Kinda like Toothless, the Viking. I know. But anyway, yeah, we’re tagless right now, but hey, we got Utah coming up next week.

00:47:08:19 –> 00:47:09:29
What else? Nevada coming out. Nevada

00:47:09:29 –> 00:47:12:23
In a week or so after that. Wyoming elk will be coming out. Of course we’re

00:47:13:06 –> 00:47:15:13
Applying like crazy still. Oh, a few applications. There’s

00:47:15:13 –> 00:47:25:07
A lot to apply for. Still here. May just opened up. But anyway, May’s the, the biggest month it feels like for drought results. We’ve just had a flurry this week and a bunch more coming

00:47:25:07 –> 00:47:30:05
Up. Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, all sheep, goat, moose. Yeah. I send them places, things like that.

00:47:30:06 –> 00:47:41:05
There’s still hope teller’s not so good luck to everybody out there in the draws. Yeah, I tried to put some good juju out there and said this is the year someone in the office is gonna draw, but it’s proven me wrong.

00:47:41:05 –> 00:47:42:29
Well, I mean, Logan in general, we general deer.

00:47:43:13 –> 00:47:49:19
No, I mean sheep. John. I said sheep, sheep specific. Someone’s gonna draw sheep. Sheep tag. Not happening. Not

00:47:49:19 –> 00:47:51:21
Yet, John. Just not yet is how it goes.

00:47:51:21 –> 00:47:54:09
Okay. Yet I’m gonna keep that positive energy going. That’s right.

00:47:55:04 –> 00:47:57:01
Actually working over some Arizona choices right now.

00:47:57:08 –> 00:47:57:23
All right. All right.

00:47:57:29 –> 00:47:58:28
There’s still hope out

00:47:58:28 –> 00:48:12:09
There. Ready for that to kick off. Well, that’s the one thing I do like about sheep hunts is you, you draw and it’s, you know, all your buddies want to go. That’s right. Well, John, just, just think of all the memories you have of Jason so that we’ve talked about. It’s a lifetime of

00:48:12:13 –> 00:48:17:19
Memories, John. Yeah. It’s a life changing and life changing. You and I have lifetimes of memories.

00:48:17:20 –> 00:48:20:16
This is true. Life changing memories. We’ve

00:48:20:16 –> 00:48:23:27
Been a few through a few things. You, me, bros. And a few others.

00:48:24:02 –> 00:48:35:18
You know what’s funny? Cash came in the other day and he’s like, you know what? Last night I just, I watched your Southwest Desert Elcon again and, and went through the whole thing. And I’m like, it’s been like 10 years since I there.

00:48:35:18 –> 00:48:36:21
Cash needs a few

00:48:36:21 –> 00:48:36:24
Kids.

00:48:37:02 –> 00:48:38:21
Is he really got that kind of time on his mind.

00:48:39:03 –> 00:48:44:10
He’s bored. He did. And I was like, oh, that was a fun hunt. It was. That was a great hunt. Anyway, it

00:48:44:10 –> 00:48:47:03
Was back when, when we were kids, man. Geez. Yeah.

00:48:47:03 –> 00:48:50:29
But it was no, ca Cash is watching YouTube for entertainment, that’s for sure.

00:48:50:29 –> 00:48:52:10
Yeah. Yeah. Like

00:48:52:14 –> 00:48:54:04
2008 or nine year desert.

00:48:54:17 –> 00:48:55:19
Yeah, it was. Yeah.

00:48:55:29 –> 00:48:59:24
Same year I had by Utah Elk. Eight or nine, eight. Yeah. Yeah. That’s

00:49:00:23 –> 00:49:01:11
Been a minute.

00:49:01:25 –> 00:49:07:11
17 years ago. We’re due again man. Someone’s gonna get a sheep tag. That’s, do I like it? Keep sending it out.

00:49:07:24 –> 00:49:08:05
It’ll

00:49:08:09 –> 00:49:09:05
Probably be manifest

00:49:09:13 –> 00:49:14:12
Josh or who knows? Not me. He’s pretty darn lucky. I don’t know. Not me, not you.

00:49:15:16 –> 00:49:25:18
Logan, are you in for sheep or where do you put in for once in lifetime? I’m, I’m a desert sheep yet. All right. I think, I think Mel Ja, Jason and I are Rockies now ’cause we have to here in Utah. But

00:49:25:21 –> 00:49:31:11
Yeah, kind of, I, I started applying my kids, you know, back in our day it was desert was the bottleneck.

00:49:31:12 –> 00:49:35:03
Well, it’s kind of now it feels like, like fewer to draw or rocky.

00:49:35:16 –> 00:49:37:25
So I started all my kids on Rocky. Did

00:49:37:25 –> 00:49:38:09
You? Yeah.

00:49:38:23 –> 00:50:15:15
Yeah. I mean, not all of them, but most of ’em, you know. Anyway. All right everybody, well get your applications in. If you need help, call us (435) 263-0777. Of course you can email us too. 00:51:28:25 –> 00:51:34:10
Yeah. John, John will come around and be like, all right, what do you think? And then it’ll go to Adam’s office. Hey

00:51:34:10 –> 00:52:07:19
Adam. And I guess that’s why I’m such a big believer. I use it, I use you guys well’s, it’s better if you can, you know, throw your ideas around. There are legitimate changes and especially for some species, you know, sheep, most notably their stuff comes and goes fast. Two to three years can be an eternity for a sheep bird. Good or bad. Yeah. You know, improving or, or tanking. So, and then other stuff that happens, other species as well. Antelope, mule, deer, winter kill drought. And then you, you get two years of drought and then you essentially had no farm production in that unit for two years. Look out in three, four years down the road, you’re not gonna have many

00:52:07:27 –> 00:52:11:15
Two bucks. Now we got about teaming with antelope, for example, on the upswing on a

00:52:11:19 –> 00:52:21:22
Positive. Yeah. And, and they mature fast. You know, two to 3-year-old buck antelope are a lot different than two, 3-year-old buck mul there. So anyway, lots, lots to stay on top of. That’s what we do here. But yeah.

00:52:22:11 –> 00:52:25:11
Okay. All right. Well get your apps in. Let us know if you draw.

00:52:27:18 –> 00:53:17:04
