Chris Petersen – Epic Outdoors Staff Member

Chris was born and raised in a small mountain town in northern Utah. Growing up in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains, Chris developed a love for the outdoors. Chris has always had a passion for hunting, horses, snowmobiling, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. After graduating from Morgan High School and spending two years in Bolivia, Chris started a Wildlife and Western Art business. Chris had artwork in a gallery in Jackson, Wyoming and started his education at Utah State University. Chris’ combined love of art and the outdoors would pave the way for his future in the hunting industry.

In January of 2007, Chris accepted a job as a full-time graphic designer with The Huntin’ Fool Magazine based in southern Utah. While at the Huntin’ Fool, Chris worked to help design and produce the monthly magazine. Chris also designed and developed a new wave of decals and apparel. In addition, Chris became a contributing writer for the magazine and a hunt consultant, when time permitted.

While working for the Huntin’ Fool Magazine Chris founded the Video Productions Department and became the head videographer, video editor, sound engineer, and video producer. Chris was a natural and rapidly became one of North America’s premier hunting videographers. Chris cut his video production teeth capturing some of the most high pressure hunts in North America, where one false move could spell the end of a stalk on a world class trophy. Chris’ videography skills and artistic talent perfectly capture the majesty of the outdoors with the thrill of the hunt. His passion for bringing hunting stories to life, in the form of video, went hand in hand with his background in art and the outdoors. Each fall Chris spent an average of 120 days in the field. He was almost always on the road filming hunts and any break he got he spent hunting for himself.

In 2012, Chris started filming for Under Armour on the Ridge Reaper television show. Ridge Reaper was featured on the Outdoor Channel. Chris spent the next 4 years alongside Jason Carter filming and hunting for the show.

Today, Chris is one of the most experienced hunt videographers in the industry, with hundreds of hunts to his credit. Chris has spent the past 10 years filming some of the toughest hunts to be captured on video. From the remote glaciers of the Northwest Territories to the treacherous red rock canyons of the Escalante Desert, Chris has filmed hunts in some of the most difficult terrain imaginable.

Chris is also a country music singer/songwriter and loves writing and performing his music with his band. He has played for thousands of people, in many venues across the country, some of his favorites have been The Houston Rodeo and The Eureka Casino in Mesquite Nevada. Chris has also opened shows for several big names in country music including Collin Raye and Craig Morgan. He recently released his second studio album, “A Cowboy Coming Home” which is available on iTunes, Google, and most places digital music is sold. His song, “The Edge of Eighteen” recently charted on The Billboard Heat Seekers chart. You can follow his music on Instagram @DiehardCowboy_.

Aside from video production and music, Chris has also had considerable success hunting on his own. His favorite species to hunt are Mule deer and Black bear. Chris also currently works full time for Epic Outdoors where he is a hunt consultant and heads the media and videography department. He continues his work in video production, graphic design, photography, and marketing. Chris started the Epic Outdoors YouTube Channel and has filmed hunting features with over 3.5 million views.
