00:00:02:02 –> 00:00:05:05
When you draw a Nevada tag, for the most part, you’ve got something

00:00:05:17 –> 00:00:14:12
Overall. Sheep in Nevada, we’re a huge fan. We are advocates of planning in Montana, Kansas. What a great state, huh? Anything to do with Western big games.

00:00:17:22 –> 00:00:18:07
Welcome

00:00:18:07 –> 00:00:21:09
To the Epic Outdoors Podcast, powered by Under Armour.

00:00:21:27 –> 00:00:32:27
Hey everybody. Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, Chris Peterson. He’s at the keyboard coming at you from southern Utah in our office. Altogether not working remotely yet, right? Bronson? No.

00:00:32:27 –> 00:00:35:15
9.5 employees here today. So we’re good.

00:00:36:04 –> 00:00:44:07
9.5. We got room for a 0.5. That’s right. Anyway. 10 or less, right? Or is it up to nine? I don’t know. We’re talking 10 or less.

00:00:44:26 –> 00:00:52:12
It’s kinda like up to 10% on draws or guaranteed 10% or no more than 10%. Those

00:00:52:12 –> 00:01:04:08
Are all up to interpretation. We’re finding out, especially thanks to New Mexico. Who knows anymore. That’s right. But anyway, how are they gonna police the 10? They gonna, all right. Who’s the last man on a totem pole? Go

00:01:04:08 –> 00:01:05:05
Home. I don’t know.

00:01:05:10 –> 00:01:08:05
Anyway, who knows? But we’re gonna be interest

00:01:08:05 –> 00:01:21:14
Stilling to see around here if the, if we ever do have to break 10, who’s the late one that thinks they’re gonna get here at seven 50? Nine 50 or something. Yeah, I’m the 11th guy. I guess I gotta go home today guys. See ya.

00:01:22:04 –> 00:01:27:19
Un unlike a lot of work environments, I think people wanna work here, huh? Absolutely.

00:01:27:20 –> 00:01:28:01
Come on.

00:01:28:01 –> 00:01:30:00
But who doesn’t wanna work here? But we

00:01:30:00 –> 00:01:35:15
Got springs in the air a little bit. Yeah, turkeys might be starting to gobble. It’s snowing today. Turkey

00:01:35:15 –> 00:01:37:17
Gobbled. Then he got a snowstorm. That’s

00:01:37:17 –> 00:01:40:23
Right. He’s leaving tracks in six to 10 inches of snow right now

00:01:42:12 –> 00:01:52:29
Anyway. Yeah. Kind of crazy weather. Well we spent a little time, went and ran over, looked at some new units there in Nevada. Bronson, you were out and about a little bit on Saturday trying

00:01:53:03 –> 00:02:03:12
To do a little bit of that. It’s that time of year we got a new mag to the printer and that’s what prompted the little bit of chain. We were unshackled briefly. That feels

00:02:03:12 –> 00:02:05:18
Like, yeah, that does feel a little bit unshackling.

00:02:05:28 –> 00:02:18:05
You know that occurred, got the fourth state magazine of the year. We’ve got the April magazines at the printer, our EM mags live and online for all those that maybe didn’t get our email telling the world about it. But that’s what we’re gonna talk about today.

00:02:18:10 –> 00:02:41:20
Yeah. Before we do, let’s think Under Armour. Thank you Under Armour. We do appreciate Under Armour. They’re sponsoring this podcast course. I think they’re working from home. At least they say they’re working. I don’t know if they’re really working. How do you check up on people? Do we have to have trail cameras? The new fusion stealth cam could send us remote live pictures of our employees working from home just to make sure they’re working. What do you think, Chris? You think it’d go?

00:02:41:24 –> 00:02:45:12
That’d be interesting interest if you donate. If you wanna donate the fusion. I’m all about it.

00:02:45:21 –> 00:02:50:13
Well, we ordered a bunch of ’em. We haven’t got ’em yet, by the way. Bronson take it away.

00:02:51:17 –> 00:02:55:07
Well, this podcast, we are gonna give away a trail cam.

00:02:55:20 –> 00:02:56:18
Why are we gonna give away

00:02:56:18 –> 00:03:03:19
A trail cam? Because we are all new stealth cam dealers. Among other things, which we will be announcing very soon as well.

00:03:04:17 –> 00:03:05:12
Let’s do it in this podcast.

00:03:05:19 –> 00:03:29:06
No, something that we actually spend a lot of time on. We go through those ourselves. Both between ourselves and some of the guides. We use our friends families, blah blah blah. So we’ve, we go ahead and we’ve got a dealership and so we do want to give away one of those today, but we’re not gonna give the details quite yet. Right. We’re gonna make ’em listen to the rest of the podcast, Chris. I think that’s a good idea. Yeah. Right. But stay tuned.

00:03:29:06 –> 00:03:31:02
Maybe in the middle, maybe we’ll throw it in the middle or something. That’s right.

00:03:31:04 –> 00:03:34:18
Not gonna make you tell the closing credits, but kinda

00:03:34:20 –> 00:03:39:11
Scroll it’s, scroll to the end. We wanted to hear every word we have to say. Don’t you think

00:03:39:11 –> 00:03:44:02
That’s right, huh? But give away a new G 45

00:03:45:07 –> 00:04:07:28
G max. Yeah, the NG max. They’re awesome. In fact, you know, when last, when they first came out with those, of course you’re always nervous, right? And so I went and put every model they had on the trees at my house and it was unbelievable. I mean, I would just crack the door at my garage and they’d be snapping photos. I don’t know, I’m shooting. It’s roughly a 40 yard, 45 yard shot. Straight,

00:04:08:10 –> 00:04:09:13
Straight dogs or no, that was your dog.

00:04:09:14 –> 00:04:14:06
Oh yeah. No, I had straight dogs coming in, playing with my dog all night and I’d be like, oh

00:04:15:02 –> 00:04:15:06
Neighbor

00:04:15:17 –> 00:04:16:07
Dog, come over now.

00:04:16:11 –> 00:04:17:13
Now I know who to where

00:04:17:13 –> 00:04:38:18
All the food has gone. Anyway. Yeah. So yeah, sometimes you gotta test ’em out. And so anyway, that’s what I ran last year is those 45 NG Maxs. We get a lot of questions about that. So we ordered a freaking load of them and they are for sale. We’re gonna sell ’em. Make a great deal for anybody. Alright, having said that, let’s move on. Should we do it? What should we talk about

00:04:38:18 –> 00:04:55:11
Bronson? Well, let’s kick it off with the states that we talk about in this magazine. But let’s start off with Nevada. This is the April issue, 2020 Epic Outdoors, Nevada, all species, Montana, sheep, moose, goat, bison, an antelope as well as Kansas whitetail. That was quick and easy. We got that one out.

00:04:56:00 –> 00:05:28:08
Okay, we talked about Kansas. Let’s move on. No, but we do, we do cover a lot of information in this particular publication. Anyway, we want to give a little shout out to the lewises. So shall we killed a absolute monster bull with her bow. The largest bull killed by lady ever in the state of Nevada. 401 inch gross giant. And what a good couple. Her and Dallas are awesome. Oh, Dallas, what? Two years ago. Killed a monster bowl and he was on our cover of the October issue. Yeah, kind of crazy. That’s

00:05:28:08 –> 00:05:43:08
Right. Appreciate them taking the time to document their story. Send the photos in to us. Not just from this year, but last several years. The trail cam picks through them and some friends and awesome bull. Congratulations. And that kicks us off. Let’s talk about Nevada.

00:05:43:13 –> 00:05:49:00
Nevada. So Nevada did extend their application deadline. It’s gonna be May 4th. Pretty awesome. Kind

00:05:49:00 –> 00:05:59:04
Of caught a lot of people off guard. We’ve been getting, we’ve been getting a lot of anxious people hitting us. ’cause Nevada opened up about a week ago, start taking applications normally,

00:05:59:09 –> 00:06:09:01
Not only do they open up, they tell you 14 days in advance when they’re opening up. They remind you every day that they’re open. They’re doing a great job of telling the customer, that’s right, come apply here. People

00:06:09:07 –> 00:06:31:23
Are ready to apply. But since it’s not due till May 4th, and we’re also waiting on some of the other states getting their stuff finalized and it gave us a little bit of breathing room when normally they’re due, let’s just say the 18th to 20th of April. It’s, yep, it’s a lot shorter turnaround. Now we got a two week, two weeks extra. But it is done. And like I said, the EAG online, let’s break it down. Carter people

00:06:31:24 –> 00:06:39:08
Enjoy it. Yeah. And so one thing we do have, Bronson, before we get started, we have the guide draw. We talked about it earlier. We fact

00:06:39:08 –> 00:06:40:13
Those results will be out this

00:06:40:13 –> 00:06:49:20
Week. Okay. And and, and a little birdie has told me, and and you as well, Bronson, the draw takes place today. They’re coming out on Wednesday. I don’t know, little

00:06:49:20 –> 00:06:49:25
Tweet,

00:06:50:20 –> 00:06:57:25
Tweet, tweet, tweet. Okay. Pretty exciting. We’re, we’re super excited. Draw results, not for us in another word, we can apply

00:06:57:25 –> 00:06:58:00
For

00:06:58:00 –> 00:07:15:16
That. But draw results coming out in an otherwise kind of a weird time. There’s just a weird vibe out in the world right now where everybody’s locked in and everybody’s even wondering if we’re gonna have hunts course we’re gonna have hunts. But having said that, something to look forward to, you’re gonna see a lot of Instagram posts, people excited. Three hundreds

00:07:15:16 –> 00:07:24:25
People plus or minus are gonna get good news this week about Nevada rifle deer hunts. So good luck. Let us know if you draw and keep some mind for stories and photos later on. So

00:07:24:25 –> 00:08:14:23
As far as for changes for Nevada, that was the main thing, was the deadline. You know, they’re now gonna allow you to turn your tag back within seven days of the release of the draw results. And you don’t have to actually accept your tag and manually Yeah, turn it back in. So anyway, a couple of those kind of things. They’re gonna have some draw results, same kind of thing. They should be available May 22nd. And then they’ve got a second draw. It’s kind of an official second draw. It doesn’t use your points for tags that are left leftover, remaining balance of tags. And then there’s a first come, first serve after that. But that is very similar to say, you know, Colorado, things like that. So anyway, that’s about it. We, we went through, want to tell everybody thanks for submitting photos. We got some giant sheep, giant deer, giant elk. We appreciate all that, all the support. And we hopefully showcase them well for you.

00:08:15:03 –> 00:09:01:06
It’s a testament to the quality of a hunt you get in Nevada. When you draw a Nevada tag, for the most part, you’ve got something, it doesn’t matter what species it is, you’ve got a great tag. They, they grow great antelope, great elk, great mule. They’re a great sheep of three species. Non-residents can apply for just the Californian desert. But when you get a tag in Nevada, you usually have a really, really good hunt. And so yeah, it’s a testament to them with making what they have, making something great outta what they have. They’re the driest state in the nation and as precipitation goes, so goes the quality of some of their antler, you know, for deer and elk especially. But they were great last year and all indications look like this is gonna be another one is pet year is a green light, green light year for Nevada Epic

00:09:01:18 –> 00:09:20:29
Chia Pet Year. Right. For handler game. So anyway, we’re super excited. It’s awesome. You know, it’s one of those states, like Adam says, we all apply for Nevada, we apply for every species available to us. Even antelope, Brons. And I, I find it interesting you jumped in with antelope. That’s the first thing on your mind was antelope. That was the first species you

00:09:20:29 –> 00:09:23:17
Listed. That was a random, it was alphabetical. Oh,

00:09:24:04 –> 00:09:25:28
A get it I think. Got

00:09:25:28 –> 00:09:26:01
It.

00:09:26:01 –> 00:09:26:13
That’s

00:09:26:13 –> 00:09:32:11
What I’m with. I’m sticking with Anyway. Anyway. I don’t know if the other one’s after antelope were alphabetical, but a just came to my, my name,

00:09:32:15 –> 00:09:47:24
You know, and it’s kind of interesting, we ran through the antelope drawing on, it’s super tough to draw. Similar to Arizona, very tough to draw antelope in the state of Nevada. And they’ve got a lot of quality going on there and a lot of units. It’s a big state and all of which, most of which have antelope in ’em. So. Yep,

00:09:47:24 –> 00:10:12:07
They do. It’s if, if you like to hunt antelope, they’re, they’re not easy to get, they’re not as hard to draw as as Arizona, but they are very good, good quality. Probably the biggest thing to keep in mind is when you’re considering Nevada, we’ve already talked about it’s a great state from a quality standpoint. It’s looking like a great moisture year in Nevada. It’s got a first off bite off something. And that’s $155.

00:10:13:04 –> 00:10:13:11
Yes.

00:10:13:17 –> 00:10:13:24
Is

00:10:13:25 –> 00:10:14:26
Very expensive. That’s

00:10:14:26 –> 00:10:34:06
Your first really that, you know, there’s a lot of people that don’t like to pay the, you know, the bigger non-refundable fees, which you’d have to label. Nevada is one of the more costly, non-refundable, but it’s a hunting license. It’s $155. And then if you’re gonna make that decision, then load up, load it up afterwards to get, get what we like to call

00:10:35:07 –> 00:10:40:26
What? Go ahead. What? I don’t know what we’re calling it. Tell me.

00:10:41:11 –> 00:10:45:01
I was just gonna say get, get the bang for the buck. I was ready for you to say that, but Oh,

00:10:45:01 –> 00:10:45:13
Alright.

00:10:45:28 –> 00:10:52:26
I, I’m, that’s because I had another guess. I’m drinking. Whoa. What I thought you were gonna say, plug and play. No, that, that gets over

00:10:53:18 –> 00:10:56:12
Gonna be apply, apply, play, plug and play. That’s

00:10:56:14 –> 00:11:03:16
The other what gets over. Come on. This is the, this is the reason I’m drinking a Sugar Mountain Dew today. And you’re drinking a monster. We are not on the

00:11:03:28 –> 00:11:04:05
We

00:11:04:19 –> 00:11:08:14
Calories, we’re not on the same wavelength. That’s what I’m saying. That’s right. 170. You’re

00:11:08:14 –> 00:11:08:29
170

00:11:09:02 –> 00:11:10:16
Bro. Yeah, but I get sugar

00:11:10:16 –> 00:11:11:17
That’s half the size, but I

00:11:11:17 –> 00:11:14:07
Get sugar. I’ve already got my vitamins from the monster this morning.

00:11:14:14 –> 00:11:18:23
I’m gonna, this is, like I say, I’ve taken two prenatals with this one. ’cause this is the second one. Okay.

00:11:19:03 –> 00:11:25:19
But the first thing you really gotta decide is do you want to bite it off that non-refundable cost apply? Yes, you do. It’s very similar to Yes, you do Arizona.

00:11:25:25 –> 00:11:27:10
Let me answer it. Yes, you do.

00:11:27:13 –> 00:11:28:26
And why, why would you then back

00:11:28:26 –> 00:11:50:28
That up? Well, the, the nice thing, like you said, you get to plug and play with all the species. There we go. Sheep, elk, deer, antelope. And, and of course you can do the p i w deer, by the way, silver state one tag out there available to residents or non-residents for, for sheep or elk or deer or antelope. And it’s $25 to, to plug and play

00:11:50:28 –> 00:12:03:25
For that case. It’s equivalent of their heritage or governor tags. You get a hunt anywhere in the state from either August 1st or September 1st in the case of desert sheep through the end of the year. Right? That’s right. It’s equivalent of the governor tag. Then you have p i w

00:12:04:01 –> 00:12:08:06
For deer for for non-residents. The only thing we have available to us, p i w wise, three of them,

00:12:08:08 –> 00:12:09:07
Three tags, I think three

00:12:09:07 –> 00:12:18:08
Tags for deer. And you know, and that’s any open season. So there’s an open season with that weapon. You get to hunt it, archery’s open, grab your boat, go hunt.

00:12:18:23 –> 00:12:28:06
Having said that, of the three, we had two Epic outdoors members, one of our licensed app clients and another one Drew that last year. Ben Yeah.

00:12:29:09 –> 00:12:29:18
Used

00:12:29:20 –> 00:12:48:00
Buildings. Yeah. And they, they, they, he did a story killed breaking 400. He killed the 200 inch, 210 inch type typical with his P I W Nevada drew a limited enter Utah. So that’s awesome. Appreciate that. And send in that in for, so hey, somebody’s gonna win ’em. It’s an extra $10 chance then they have more.

00:12:48:23 –> 00:12:54:11
Tell me more. Yeah, they do. They have the sheep and then the elk and the deer and the antelope. What else am I missing? Dream.

00:12:54:22 –> 00:12:54:29
Oh,

00:12:54:29 –> 00:13:12:23
The dream tags. They do have a raffle for the dream. Now this is not, and this is why I wasn’t thinking about it. Bronson again, you’re drinking Mountain Dew. I’m on a monster, but, but the dream tags are totally separate. It’s a, it’s a raffle type tag. Yes. And so anyway, meaning raffle process, meaning you can buy unlimited chances,

00:13:13:01 –> 00:13:31:10
Separate application. The other ones we just talked about, the silver state add-ons for roughly $25 per species and the $10 add-on for non-resident deer, p i w or right when you’re applying for everything else. That’s right. The dream is you got clear till the end of June to go buy as many as you feel like you can. Mortally feel good about

00:13:31:17 –> 00:14:40:12
June 30th, 1159 Pacific daylight time 2020. You need to go in and have your dream tickets purchased and you can buy in. You can buy in for $5 and 75 cents each sold online only. They draw ’em in early July. And so anyway, you can go and do that for multiple species and have at it. So that’s separate than the regular Nevada draw system. So anyway, you apply for sheep, apply for elk, deer, antelope, and go from there. Sheep like you indicated, has California bighorn and desert available to non-residents. Residents only are eligible to apply for some Rockies. We ride it in there, put a pretty good section in there. Considering it’s for residents only. We generally talk about these states from a non-resident perspective. We, we ride it in there, you know, talked about the different units. 1 14, 1 15 0 7 4 0 9 1. Occasionally it’s shared by Utah this year it’s not available for residents. And, and there was some pretty subpar quality of animals taken. And it’s, it’s the way it is since the rubies had their die off Bronson. And that was arguably one of the best in the nation. Could be a very

00:14:40:20 –> 00:14:41:19
Rival right? Montana

00:14:42:03 –> 00:14:58:25
For the top end rams. Not the numbers, but the top end. Unbelievable. Right? And so now we’re dealing with units that are just killing average. A nice rocky is 150 inch, mostly 100 to, you know, 1 45 type inch rocky scale.

00:14:58:25 –> 00:15:12:10
If I was a, if I was a resident, honestly, of the handful of tags that they’re giving right now, I, I would highly consider doing points only without the knowledge of what there’s gonna be in the future. But right now it’s pretty rough. Yeah. With, with what’s available right now,

00:15:12:11 –> 00:15:56:26
Pretty rough. And so anyway, non-residents, we continue to have 23 units to choose from. There’s a lot going on there. There’s some die-offs happening. 2 0 5, 2 0 7. You know, some of these units are definitely units that, that need guys need to be considered. Consider, you know, when they’re going to apply and take those into consideration of what’s going on there. 180 3, you know, still, you know, struggling numbers wise and tag numbers are gonna reflect that and probably stay the same. They’re gonna have a reduction in tags in 2 0 5. 2 0 7. So anyway, a couple things there to be aware of. They’re, they’re having, oh, signs and indications that that is spreading and they expect will spread into other units. We’ll keep you posted as that changes and develops over the next few years.

00:15:57:22 –> 00:16:36:17
Yep. For non-residents, well, residents as well. The, the number of of sheep tags that they give in in Nevada specifically desert sheep is unsurpassed, you know, 306 or 10 or whatever it was. Total 30 of which go to went to non-residents last year. That’s a lot of sheep, desert sheep tags considering we’re Colorado gives one, Utah gives like four New Mexico gives, let’s say two to three to four, you know, something like that. Texas, maybe one Arizona up to 10% could go rocky or desert. But let’s just call that 10 or 10 or 11, you know, California one or

00:16:36:17 –> 00:16:46:08
Two. One or two. I mean it’s up to 10%. It’s one or two. And again, now you’re on a 75 25 split in California where, you know, 75% go to the people with points. Yeah, the max points.

00:16:46:11 –> 00:17:40:12
So overall what we’re saying, there’s a lot of opportunity to get drawn there. Doesn’t mean the drawing odds are incredible. They just give more tags. The odds are still very tough in Nevada for desert sheep. Even though they give more tags than anywhere else. Doesn’t mean the odds are better. You’ll look at those, we have all 23 units broke down how they played out last year and in and the five years prior. But a couple of things I think that are probably should talk about when regarding Nevada is the whole, the drop process slightly. It’s a little bit unique as they give you five choices to apply all five. Some people like that. Yeah. Some people have partitioned recently to, to change that. We’ve, I guess voiced our opinion about that as have others. And when you look at some of the things like let’s say desert sheep or some of the other units like that, when you factor in that

00:17:41:17 –> 00:17:41:24
You

00:17:41:24 –> 00:18:01:01
Can apply for a quarter, 20% of the everybody can apply for 20% of the units. It’s hard to really tease apart drawing odds and things like that. And even when you start talking about trophy stuff when it comes to deer and elk, all right? When you have five choices to play with, what are you gonna do with that first one or two choices? You’re

00:18:01:01 –> 00:18:02:28
Always gonna go for the best couple of years, go for the

00:18:02:28 –> 00:18:03:01
Gold.

00:18:03:02 –> 00:18:04:17
You’re always, you always are. Why

00:18:04:17 –> 00:18:04:24
Would you not

00:18:04:24 –> 00:18:30:24
Even in, even in New Mexico, you got three choices people always put in. They go for the absolute gold on choice one, sometimes two. And then go with what they’re willing to accept on choice three when let’s say you have two choices in Nevada. And Chris, I think before we dive into this a little deeper, why don’t you read that question? You got, I, I didn’t even know you got that question. You just indicated it just as we walked into the room and I thought, well maybe it’s fitting to throw it on the podcast.

00:18:31:08 –> 00:19:14:19
Yeah, so I just got a, a message from a, a guy that’s concerned about that and he says, please stop suggesting a three choice application in Nevada will make draw odds better. It’s gonna turn these better units into what Arizona and Utah have with their strip and Henry tags. Okay, good luck drawing. Then by allowing five choices, it lets these hunters that aren’t as serious about those units draw the easier units they picked for choice choices three to five. Now they’re back to zero points and their odds of drawing a top unit again drops dramatically. This allows the trophy guys to apply for the toughest units in the state year after year. In an era where everyone thinks they’re a trophy hunter, the top units will, will be only harder to draw by limiting choices. Okay.

00:19:14:20 –> 00:19:19:25
I think there’s a couple things there. First off, we never said three choices. We’ve actually said two or,

00:19:20:02 –> 00:19:21:08
Or one. I mean, if I was,

00:19:21:29 –> 00:19:23:11
I’d do one if I, if I could choose,

00:19:23:13 –> 00:19:24:00
If I could pick

00:19:24:20 –> 00:19:25:04
To help the

00:19:25:04 –> 00:19:27:13
Drawing up one or two, whatever. We’ve never, we’ve never

00:19:27:13 –> 00:19:37:20
Suggested three set three. Now there was people, John’s ends that put, put forth a petition and it’s stated in there and, and it’s public. I mean it’s public knowledge. He’s, he’s fine with everybody seeing

00:19:37:20 –> 00:19:47:14
It. By the way, that did get tabled for 2020 mainly because of this. The public meetings had to get shut down throughout Nevada for commission meetings and cab meetings, things like that.

00:19:47:14 –> 00:19:51:12
Corona. So anyway, that caused these meetings to be canceled. So they’re not gonna talk about

00:19:51:12 –> 00:19:53:04
This year. I can entertain it for this year’s trial nor

00:19:53:07 –> 00:20:20:26
The point boosting issue. There was a number of issues coming forward that they’re not gonna talk about. But with that I contend, you know, and this is, hey, this is just a guy that makes a living in this industry that’s done it for 20 plus years, it feels like to me people are gonna apply for what they really want. Yeah. It’s gonna force Reno guys to say, Bronson a few and I were residents and we lived in Reno. I’m not maybe gonna pick clear over here in a unit that I don’t really know well, 24 2 22. But

00:20:20:26 –> 00:20:23:20
I’ve heard about 24 forever. Yeah. Right now, choices. I only

00:20:23:23 –> 00:20:24:00
Do

00:20:24:00 –> 00:20:25:01
That choices I’ll

00:20:25:05 –> 00:20:32:14
Or am I gonna kill a 200 around Reno on those late hunts, which quite frankly are awesome. That’s right. You know what I mean? And they know they’re awesome. They, they know they’re

00:20:32:17 –> 00:21:00:18
Well and Yeah, exactly. And those individuals that want to draw more often, more often than he. The, the, the question referenced people that wanna draw and put the lesser units, lesser choices three through five. Now that you go to, if you went to one or two, they’re not gonna put any of the good ones down there at all. Right? They are not gonna put ’em. ’cause I have to sacrifice my one and only choice for two forty’s rifle Uhuh. I’m not doing it. I, I’m gonna put in for oh six early 1 0 1 to 1 0 9 early or

00:21:01:00 –> 00:21:01:28
Seven late or

00:21:02:04 –> 00:21:02:22
Whatever I want, whatever.

00:21:02:26 –> 00:21:04:00
I mean, and, and I, so

00:21:04:00 –> 00:21:33:02
You’re, I think, I think your, your odds will get better because right now you got five a swath of people putting in for these, a swath five deep of everybody putting in swath. The overlap is in, you know, is is starkly different than it would be is if you only had one choice or two. And frankly, the best trophy units in the state, I’m not gonna, I’m not gonna overanalyze ’em to the Henry’s extender, the of the strip. But for all intents and purposes, they’re as bad as that right now. Well,

00:21:33:02 –> 00:21:42:02
Let’s, and let’s talk about that with the strip and the Henry’s in Utah. In Utah we have, let’s just call it five areas that’ll produce a big deer. Okay. Talking

00:21:42:03 –> 00:21:47:22
And yeah, we’re talking 95,000 general tax, about 1500 limited entry tax. Okay.

00:21:47:22 –> 00:22:02:07
Alright. Okay. Now in Nevada, we’re talking about 15 or 20 areas that’ll produce 200. Yeah. I, I don’t know, two twenties, two forties, one thirties, 2 31 I killed 1, 2, 6, 7. Oh south Yeah. In

00:22:02:07 –> 00:22:07:10
26, 0 6, 0 7, 1 9 4, 1 9, 6, I mean oh five one, just keep going on and

00:22:07:10 –> 00:22:51:29
On, on and on. Oh five one’s been producing some big deer. And so you start looking at it and you go, no. And then you take three season choices within each of those units. Archery’s awesome, muzzle is awesome rifle, early rifle, mid rifle, late rifle on some of these. And now let’s just say they did go to one choice, like we said, what are you gonna choose? You gonna choose a late 22. If you do late 22, you ain’t doing 24 Bronson, you’re not gonna do 23, you’re not gonna do 24, you’re not gonna do 13. All of which might might’ve been on my application before with 22. That’s right. So that you’re, you’re so I just don’t see the math and what he’s talking about. Now if, if you do have the Henry’s of Nevada and 24 is the only place in Nevada that’s gonna produce a big deer, then obviously you’re gonna get 24 getting the majority of the applicants.

00:22:52:04 –> 00:23:02:19
But 23 produces way too many good options in Nevada though it to spread people out. That’s my point. What we’re talking about is, is eliminating the five choice swath everybody’s putting out. And you’re gonna get overlap on that. So, so

00:23:02:19 –> 00:23:18:26
I wanna make one other point, Bronson, and, and, and this is on our epic outdoors website. If members can go in there and look at it, the bonus point breakdown 24 rifle 2 41 to 2 45 rifle, 40.43% of all non-resident deer rifle applicants applied for it.

00:23:19:20 –> 00:23:22:28
Almost half of every deer rifle applicant in the state

00:23:23:01 –> 00:23:23:29
Applied for 24

00:23:23:29 –> 00:23:25:05
Rifle applied there. Now,

00:23:25:05 –> 00:23:28:26
If there was only one choice, let’s just say one choice to make it easy, would it stay?

00:23:28:28 –> 00:23:31:19
Would it, would it say that high or good? Better? Let’s say it

00:23:31:19 –> 00:23:35:05
Did though. Let’s say it did, it could, what would it do to the rush of the drawing? Odds

00:23:35:13 –> 00:23:37:07
Be incredible. Okay. Everywhere

00:23:37:07 –> 00:23:41:05
Else. Okay. Yeah. And so, but it’s not going to be, it’s not gonna, you’re not gonna have that,

00:23:41:05 –> 00:23:44:25
You know, when you eliminate choices two through five, that’s gonna go down. Yeah,

00:23:45:06 –> 00:23:45:19
A hundred percent.

00:23:46:14 –> 00:23:58:12
Right now it’s 41% PE of all non-resident rifle applicants have as one of their one to five choices. Two forty’s rifle. Okay. And you got a two 20 if you wanna pick the next unit, I dunno, pick another unit that,

00:23:58:14 –> 00:24:06:01
Well, let’s just look right here. Let’s do a 2 23. 2 21, 2 23 late rifle. 37.7%,

00:24:06:01 –> 00:24:06:23
38%

00:24:06:29 –> 00:24:19:12
Of all non-resident. Okay? This is all re non-resident, all non-resident Dear rifle applicants applied for this hunt. Come on, come on. We’re talking over one and three. That

00:24:19:12 –> 00:24:56:11
Can’t, that’s not gonna, that’s not gonna get worse. I, I don’t, I, I understand to some extent they think that people getting ’em outta the point pool quicker because you have more choices out there for them to put three through five. When they put easy ones and they get drawn, they go back to zero points. And it means when they put in for the tough units, yeah, they’re in for ’em, but they’re really don’t have a chance. Okay? Kind of see it. Our contention is when you limit to one or two choices, they’re not even gonna tr put down those one or two or three choices. They’re not kidding. They’re not gonna put ’em down. Not kidding, it’s not worth it. ’cause they wanna hunt every year. They’re gonna put down arteries and early rifles and the stuff they want to get every year. They’re second or third, fourth, fifth choices. Those are now their first and second choices.

00:24:56:15 –> 00:25:04:14
And we all do it. We all do it. I look at my application and I go, I would really like this tag. I would really like this tag. And by the way, I,

00:25:05:02 –> 00:25:05:25
A lot of times’s three that I would

00:25:05:25 –> 00:25:11:23
Take, here’s three. And I almost like those better. But because I can’t even buy my way into the top two,

00:25:11:25 –> 00:25:12:19
You put ’em, you

00:25:12:19 –> 00:25:31:25
Put ’em right, because there’s a value out there in the world. There’s a value of having a Henry’s tag. Now maybe I know about a giant over here on Pine Valley General, but I’m gonna put Henry’s because I’m a, I’m supposed to, the world thinks I’m supposed to. There are more higher numbers of big deer and there’s less hunters in the field. So you kind of do that, but in your mind you’re actually glad you get a hunt the

00:25:32:00 –> 00:25:34:02
Backyard for three seasons on a dedicated or whatever,

00:25:34:02 –> 00:26:07:11
Right? I don’t know. Yeah. So anyway, I just think, I think there’s some fouled logic there. I totally get it. It, and this is what happens when we take a stance. We, we do run the risk of somebody, you know people, lots of people, he said it. There’s 400 more that think it. And so it forces us to say something on a podcast to get it out to the world of why we think that it’s one thing to read on paper. We think that they should change it. You can’t explain it like you can verbally and ti at times, Bronson, you and I think certain things, but we’re non-residents to that state. Yeah. Run it how you want do

00:26:07:11 –> 00:26:08:02
How you want, you

00:26:08:02 –> 00:26:08:28
Want five choices go through.

00:26:09:00 –> 00:26:57:28
We’ll adapt. We’ll adapt. We, we apply in all the Western states, frankly, we like the variety, we like, we like the fact that a couple states, a few don’t have point systems here and there. We like the, in the certain states, it’s nice to be able to predictably know the Utah’s, the Colorados, the Wyoming’s, maybe to some extent Arizona, to know when you’re gonna have a portion set aside for the high point holder and you know, when you’re about there. And then it’s nice to just have flat random luck, Mike Nevada, you know, throw your names in the hat, square your points, throw your names in the hat that many times plus one. And if you get lucky, you get lucky it we’ll adapt. It’s not like we’re quit applying in Nevada. We’ve done it for 20 plus years already. I just, we’ve seen the stats and analyze ’em for too long. The overlap that we just got done talking about with the big chunks, the five, the five choice swath. So I think, and

00:26:57:28 –> 00:27:06:11
I wanna, and I wanna reiterate, we did not initiate this change or we did not petition them no. For this change from now. We were

00:27:06:25 –> 00:27:23:20
The way in by several different people. County pr, county advisory boards, comm game and fish commissioner just wanted our thoughts and input and that’s all we provided. Never, never, never won. Gonna send them a proposal and this is what we think should change the world to make it make it a better place.

00:27:23:28 –> 00:27:44:05
But it is nice to have better drawing odds. This will do that in a good portion of the units. Some, some units I guess are just so good and there’s such a finite number of tags. Maybe you won’t see a huge jump in odds. Maybe it won’t, but, but how can it get worse? How can it get worse? Put put 10 choices on there. I guess that’s how it could get worse. That’s

00:27:44:05 –> 00:27:44:13
How it could.

00:27:45:04 –> 00:27:54:13
Absolutely. So anyway, overall sheep in Nevada we’re a huge fan. Of course you’ll see that Brons and I spent some time with some clients down there as well as my, these families. Yeah, yeah. It was awesome. Big

00:27:54:13 –> 00:27:59:17
Five, five desert sheep hunts in Nevada last year. Between the both of us, it was fun. A lot of different

00:27:59:17 –> 00:28:53:17
Units, kind of a challenging year. It was wet, rainy and spread ’em out. It was cold and it just kind of was a different hunt overall. Overall size even seemed to come down on average a little bit. But having said that, what a great, great state to hunt. She had been beautiful deserts, just incredible genetics. And so we cover the units like even, you know, Jefferson, the area 16 populations are doing super good while there’s a few units that are struggling, other things are doing well. And we indicate that in the magazine, the California bighorns great options there. You know, there was a big old ram taken out of oh six eight and that was kind of, from what I understand, didn’t talk to the hunter himself, but from what I understand it was kind of a, an accident. Where’d he come from? Yeah, exactly. But it is a good unit. And so same with oh five one. There’s like four sub herds within there and they move around a lot and sometimes it’s hard to keep track of those big rams. It was a little bit less, yeah, less big shoot too. It,

00:28:53:17 –> 00:29:28:04
There’s a hole on the California Big horn, pretty hard to, there’s six units open to non-residents, really hard to tease apart ranking one through six because you’re all looking at one fifties to mid one sixties kind of rams with a few wild card that can pop up almost anywhere. Nothing’s bad when it comes to hunting sheep, especially the California big horn count as a rocky. If you need one of those, apply for ’em. If you’re applying for everything else. And, and forget about it. There’s an example right there if you wanna really look at what it would do. We’ve only got six choices right there. How many people put in five choices for California? Big Horn have

00:29:28:05 –> 00:29:29:01
A everybody. Okay

00:29:29:13 –> 00:29:42:07
Now if you just had to pick one now, now not 90% of the people are all in for the same units. I mean, that’s right. That, that I understand is a very unique case in some years we’ve only been able to, to put in for four units.

00:29:42:08 –> 00:30:24:20
But it, it makes sense about anywhere, honestly, honestly. I mean, whether you’re dealing with 30 units or five units or six units or 10 or 12 units, it just makes sense. One thing I think is worth not noting part of that proposal, and it wasn’t again our proposal, but part of it was talking about, you know, and, and it brought up the, the interesting point of possibly, you know, once in lifetime tags, drawing multiple tags in your life, it’s just brought that to light while we’re changing or potentially looking at change in the number of applicants or or number of choices on your application would be changing things possibly to once in a lifetime tags. They’re a state that we know lots of people that have drawn multiple desert sheep tags. Yeah, that’s right. That’s a problem.

00:30:24:27 –> 00:31:15:13
Well, it, yeah, that’s right. If you, if you, and, and the premise of some of this proposal is it wasn’t quote, and I’m gonna use the word quote fair, that somebody with maximum points has still not drawn their sheep tag. And, and I guess our response is, is it’s just life when it comes to drawing sheep tags, life’s not always fair. Luck happens. They wanted to, this proposal had a input to put 25% of the tags to a high, a maximum point draw. And then the other 75 go randomly. In the case of sheep, which was the example that was used, you’ve just got so many people flooded in there for such a small number of resource that yeah, you’d take, maybe you’d take off 10 tags a year to maximum point holders. What would that really do to knock down maybe the first point tier or two? But then once you got rid of them, what, what’s it gonna

00:31:15:15 –> 00:31:18:22
Do? You’re back into the same problem. You’re gonna have people die without sheep in their heads. It’s

00:31:18:22 –> 00:31:31:14
Gonna be, it’s gonna be just like Colorado trophy elk. It’s just that. And they give all their tags except for some that come out for the hybrid draw 20% to the max. And you just, that just keeps climbing point, creep just

00:31:31:17 –> 00:31:55:19
Tags. Well, and the hybrid draw isn’t even, that’s kind of, it’s relevant but it’s still not even the same be meaning. There’s certain codes that have ’em, certain that don’t. And basically once non-residents meet their quota, which always happens, we’re not in the hybrid draw. So we never get a hybrid draw tag. So anyway, for all intents purposes, non-residents in Colorado, again, and I don’t know why we’re digressing, but non-residents Colorado, well just do not draw unless you have the max points. Well, and I was

00:31:55:19 –> 00:31:55:22
Just,

00:31:55:29 –> 00:31:58:12
What that dude guy that’s just jumping in kid. That’s what I mean.

00:31:58:16 –> 00:32:32:02
You’re never gonna have a chance to draw. It’s that choice, that chance got worse, gets worse. My point was is even if you make a hundred percent of the tags, which in Colorado’s case it’s technically 80% right on elk right to the max, you can’t keep up with point creep when you have a finite resource, such limited number of tags as the best bull tags in, in Colorado in this case, desert sheep, California, Bighorn. You can’t make enough headway. Even if you gave all the tags to Max, you’d never get down down through the list at a fast enough rate. You’re only drawing 50 cheap tags a year. So

00:32:32:17 –> 00:33:17:04
I’m gonna currently interrupt this wazoo awesome podcast with an ad for m o a. How about that? Absolutely. Let’s do it. M o a rifles, we appreciate them and their support. Kind of a relatively new advertiser for us. But we’ve went up to a shooting school. Bob Beck, super good guy, his team, we got involved with him through Cal Calvin Halladay a bit. Calvin’s helped Bob over the years, done a great job selling rifles and whatnot. Of course we’ve had good friends. Reed Miller, I’ve got him a bit, he shooting an m o a killed a monster with me using his m o A rifle and that. Anyway, one thing leads to another Pretty soon we’re working with Bob Beck does a great job, produces great rifles. We appreciate him. M o a rifles.com 5 4 1 5 2 6 1 8 2.

00:33:18:06 –> 00:33:43:29
They’ve also got a bunch of accessories as well. They, they use for their guns. So their bipod system, rear rush shooting systems, things like that. And so, you know, check all that stuff out in, in the magazine. You can check out the ads. Got a two page spread in the magazine. Can look at some of the interesting informa interesting pieces of equipment in there to help you become a better, long range shooter besides just the gun and optic itself. So

00:33:44:03 –> 00:33:46:14
Say I wanna buy a ranch, Bronson, who am I gonna call?

00:33:47:06 –> 00:33:54:13
Well we, we’ve, we’ve known Blaine St. James for a lot of years. 15, 20, I don’t know how long it’s been, but Blaine’s a a very, mostly

00:33:54:23 –> 00:33:56:00
’cause he kills deer. Yeah,

00:33:56:06 –> 00:34:47:08
He’s been a very diehard hunter over the years. He’s killed a lot of big deer being from Colorado. He is, he’s in the know. He is. He’s done also all over western North America as his, you know, times allowed. He’s, he’s hunted sheep. He’s closing in on the North, north America, 29. But Blaine St. James, owner of St. James Sporting properties specialize in selling trophy hunting and fishing properties, recreational properties. That is what they do. Call ’em if you’re interested. (877) 354-7247 Blaine, St. James, St. James Sporting properties. They’re licensed in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming. If you’re buying or if you’re looking to sell a piece of recreational hunting property, re ranch hunting and recreational property, give Blaine and his crew a call.

00:34:47:23 –> 00:35:34:02
You know this right now is a good time to be looking too. Bronson. I mean things happen, the economy changes, people’s situations change, families change, things like that happen. And blames Blaine’s gonna be in business no matter what. And so it might be a time you pick up a piece of property for a good value. Maybe even name it the Corona property. I don’t know. Who knows? Huh? Huh? Change. Do a little name change. Maybe C Ovid 19 ranches. I don’t know. All right, so here we are. Let’s talk about elk in Nevada. Great opportunity. They killed some giants, obviously a cover bull. Phenomenal. It feels like Elk or back? I, I don’t know Bronson. There’s a couple of units I guess. I guess. Oh, sixes seemed to be down a little bit and they were killing monsters, especially that muzzle season. But overall that’s yeah, Ely country that’s probably freaking

00:35:34:02 –> 00:36:28:00
Awesome. Yeah, that a lot of, for a lot of years. Five to 10 years ago tag numbers increased to the point it felt like, oh Nevada. Yeah, A lot of good out hunting. They’re, they’re top end meaning the three 50 to three 80 type bulls, which a lot of people have come to expect or want or whatever. Kind of like when you get a Utah tag or something like that. Felt like that was harder the last four or five years. That feels like it’s really come back strong as we’ve seen and you’ll see it in our tables. A lot of units Jason have had slight, or in some cases drastic tag reductions in the last few years. Yeah. To try to just, I mean, I guess maintain quality. Nevada as we said earlier, is a, is a dry, a state in the nation. Their elk habitat is finite. It is not all over like Colorado, dang near everywhere as you could, you could grow an elk even in the plains if you let ’em, if you a f

00:36:28:02 –> 00:36:30:08
Flock in the planes, you know, a little frolic out there. But f

00:36:30:08 –> 00:36:47:24
For all intents and purposes, you know, some states, the whole state, Wyoming, Idaho, a lot of those, you can grow elk in a lot of places. Nevada is not necessarily that way. You’ve got desert, big open areas of desert, no trees in between. At night I’m sure they cross, you know, the 20, 30 mile valleys and now they’re on this mountain

00:36:48:01 –> 00:36:50:06
Mountain. A lot critters that come out at night in the desert putting out.

00:36:50:06 –> 00:37:01:14
But our point is, I guess Nevada Department of Wildlife really does a great, great way a, a way of managing their, their elk resource for, for great quality.

00:37:01:15 –> 00:37:11:02
You’re gonna see a lot of these units and we cover it in the tables. They have an August 16th to 31 archery hunt. That seems odd. It is odd people for all compared to a lot of states out there. It all

00:37:11:03 –> 00:37:14:23
You people that complain about Utah’s archery elk hunts being too early, it

00:37:14:23 –> 00:37:16:02
Can get worse. It can, how

00:37:16:02 –> 00:37:18:01
About that? Yeah, two weeks, the end of August.

00:37:18:21 –> 00:38:06:02
How about it? They do, they do have a lot of seasons. August 25th, September 16 and then they kind of let the bulls frolic and play and rutt and, and do so you know, without interruption. And then they’ll come back in with some muzzle seasons October 22nd, 25th and then you got some other rifle hunts. The regular rifle hunts are generally in November, they’ll have an early little late, there is an early rifle hunt on table mountain for non-residents. You know, pretty tough to draw those just because of the nature of the beast. You rough rifle rutt hunting, that’s pretty tough to draw anywhere you go. So anyway, great opportunities. There again, five choices. Do mix and match, do archery, muzzle, rifle, do whatever you want. You got five choices. They’ll pull your application before they and look at all five before they go the next guy. So anyway, kind of cool.

00:38:06:15 –> 00:38:46:20
It’s probably worth mentioning, even though we are talking about early dates, even on those dates that go till September 16th is Nevada. Yeah, they do. And part of that reason is they have high bull calorie ratios for the most point and they don’t have most part and they do not have general season hunts that just crush ’em, make ’em pressured and shut up. Yeah. You know, they aren’t Nevada elk are limited entry, they’re limited entry draw. And so when they start going down that, that road with high bull cal ratio, they, they run earlier there than, than even neighboring states like Utah. And so don’t let the archery dates that go to September 16th think, ah that’s not gonna rock. They will be good.

00:38:46:26 –> 00:38:54:19
Apply, apply archery if you are, you’re an archery hunter, apply archery. It’s the best hunt there. Especially the ones that go to September 16th. That’s what you’re getting at bro. That’s what

00:38:54:19 –> 00:38:55:14
I’m getting at. That’s

00:38:55:14 –> 00:38:55:17
What I,

00:38:55:24 –> 00:39:12:26
A lot of people, you look at that in other states and we’re thinking, I don’t even want that tag. You know? Yeah. Maybe New Mexico in the wrong year, they don’t get going strong and that’s not the case in Nevada. I guess what we’re saying, our experience is you get that first week in in first week in September. They’re usually starting to go pretty strong.

00:39:13:13 –> 00:39:21:01
They are. So anyway, let’s move on to Mulder. We’re ge we’re a little wordy today. I don’t know what it is. We’re excitable, huh? No, we had the weekend, we were cooped

00:39:21:01 –> 00:39:22:22
Up, cooped up even

00:39:22:26 –> 00:39:29:06
Went over there and drove around just trying to decide where to apply. Yeah, just drove around aimlessly seeing what stuff looked like. Huh? Maybe you knew you.

00:39:29:13 –> 00:39:36:04
I’m out driving around on Saturday and I call Carter and he’s 400 miles away driving some the opposite direction and we’re,

00:39:36:07 –> 00:39:39:06
I was trying to get to California. Ah, I dang near. Well I did.

00:39:39:07 –> 00:39:42:16
You hit the border and you were met stone cold, you turned back.

00:39:43:06 –> 00:40:25:10
Well you’re supposed to not go anywhere and that’s pretty hard to do. So at the pump I’m grabbing like the big great big paper towels, right? And holding the nozzle. People are thinking I’m a weirdo and I’m feeling a little weird, you know? And then you’ve got, gotta wash your hands after you get done and try not to go eat anywhere and eat out of a cooler, which we’re kind of used to. But anyway, the more this stuff spreads, the less I guess we’re supposed to be getting out and about. So I don’t know. But had to go look at a few things before we applied. But anyway, jumping into mule deer, Nevada had a great year last year. It was kind of tough in a few of these units. There was a lot of water and it spread the deer out and people weren’t getting ’em on trail cameras. When you don’t get ’em on trail cameras, you don’t really, or you don’t glass ’em up ’cause they’re in the thick trees ’cause there’s feet everywhere.

00:40:25:20 –> 00:40:26:22
Pine nuts later

00:40:26:22 –> 00:40:40:08
On. You don’t have the faith that they’re there. You just don’t have the faith. They’re there and they are there and they, and they lived, a lot of ’em lived. And so while there was a lot of ’em killed, and you’ll see it in publication, there was a lot of big deer killed. There’s a lot of big deer alive. Yeah,

00:40:40:20 –> 00:41:40:08
There are. And, and, and moisture precipitation goes a long way in Nevada and just can’t, for a lot of people that live in the eastern US or other parts of the United States, let’s say the Pacific Northwest, they don’t really know really what we’re talking about. But you just can’t even imagine how big of a difference it makes when you have a widespread winter spring moisture repeatedly that you’re approaching a hundred percent plus precipitation. And what that can do to grow on, you know, being, having the animals healthy, which in turn allows ’em to have more to push into antlers because they’re first gonna maintain their body, their body mass, they’re gonna recover from winter, which rarely in southern Nevada especially, is that ever gonna be a real issue. But when they are in good condition that way they can start growing and they have the feed to have extra quote, extra ’cause antlers are extra, an antlers are extra over body, over body maintenance. So you’ve gotta have, you gotta have the extra to grow big antlers. That’s

00:41:40:08 –> 00:42:11:07
Right. They’re gonna preserve their health of their body and it’s all their, and their antlers indicate or indicative of, of the health of their body. And so anyway, it’s gonna be awesome. One thing that’s kind of, we tease about, there’s so much rain, like say Arizona and we’re out there. I’m dang near getting stuck. I I didn’t tell you when I was in Arizona too. Spent a little time, my kids’ been down there, shed hunting off the Kay Avenue and whatnot. So anyway, went and spent a little time with him and, and dude, I’m telling you, you can’t hardly drive around out there.

00:42:12:00 –> 00:42:12:10
Sloppy,

00:42:12:22 –> 00:42:25:14
Sloppy. And I mean these bulls are gonna be knee deep in mud and maybe that inhibits integral ’cause they can’t walk fast enough to the next grass. I don’t know, Bronson, it’s so muddy, so muddy. It’s hard to even fathom.

00:42:25:20 –> 00:42:27:13
It can’t be a bad thing. It’s gonna be all right.

00:42:27:17 –> 00:43:07:17
So anyway, mule, great opportunity. Archery hunts, generally speaking, August 10th in Nevada archery deer. August 10th, September 9th, the muzzle. September 10th to October 4th and the rifle October 5th, the 31st. Generally just saying broad overview, some seasons in the rifle are broke up. There’s some late muzzles like in oh eight say country late archeries. All of these kind of things. There’s, there’s a few nuances or whatever, just different things that happen. Rifle rutt down there, that desert country in a lot of that country where giving a guy a leg up to at least stand a chance of killing a buck when there’s very, very low densities in the middle of nowhere. But generally speaking, yeah, that’s the basic season

00:43:07:24 –> 00:44:16:16
Structure. Most places have at least two rifle, not all, but some of ’em only have one long season. November five to 30 October, or sorry, October five to 31. Or in some cases the fifth to the fifth, October 5th to November 5th. But a lot of other places they’ll do an early hunt the fifth about the 2020 first somewhere right in there. And then they’ll kick off with a late hunt with very low tag numbers. Hunt that last 10 days or nine or 10 days of October, maybe a few days into November when the bucks are starting to rutt. So between the rifle hunts, the muzzle and, and archery, you’ve got a lot of options to spread around. Think about again, you got the five choices like we already beat to death earlier. So should be a great mule deer year in Nevada. If you can do force the hand somehow, which you can’t, you can’t forcibly draw a Nevada, you just get lucky. But maybe be a little bit more aggressive in your, like this, whatever that means to you and your personal situation. Whether that means relaxing not as many late hunts. And if you’re rifle hunter doing maybe a more early hunts or if you’re hunting with all weapons, look at the other weapons. Something to try to give you a little bit of an edge. ’cause this should be a great year to have a tag. Make

00:44:16:16 –> 00:45:18:10
Sure you get drawn. That’s all we have to say. North, south, east or west. Get her done. The one thing though, let’s talk about that maybe northwest on that, oh three three Sheldon country, you know, that’s got its unique set of circumstances up there. They’re dealing with wild horses, they’re dealing with burns that it’s like a Q ball up there. There’s just a lot of, there’s a lot of predation, a lot of issues dealing with, you know, keeping those deer from coming back, so to speak. And where, where they were in like, let’s say year 2000 or and prior in the nineties. But anyway, but for the most part, lots and lots of units out there that’ll produce big bucks this year. So have at it antelope. You know, my, again, my kid Drew didn’t put a picture in this particular magazine, come out with it a little bit later, but anyway, he killed a great buck and one of these units that, I mean, I, I said, Sean, you don’t realize the odds you beat. I can’t believe it. You know, and he’s been pretty lucky. Drew an Arizona elk tag this year on a random draw. This kid’s freaking lucky fire. And he’s a hardcore hunter fire. So I’m kind of excited for him. It’s gonna be a great, great year. He’s filling

00:45:18:10 –> 00:45:20:12
Up your schedule without you drawing jack squat.

00:45:21:14 –> 00:45:54:25
Well, I’m already altering everything, all everything altering Janice, schedule my amending plugging and playing, pulling out New Mexico, things like that. By the way, by the way, Bronson for what? In light of Corona Covid, whatever we, you gotta, you can new, can pull your New Mexico, your New Mexico apps if you want to. So they, they charge you up front. They don’t have a hard set deadline. Usually it’s, you know, kind of an arbitrary, let’s stop it. We’re getting ready to run the draw, but you can go on there and, and pull your application. Okay, so you wanna do it, it’s

00:45:54:25 –> 00:46:03:06
Too late to reapply obviously, but if your plans have changed, you need to do something, get on to New Mexico, pull it and and pull it out, withdraw it, things like that. Well

00:46:03:12 –> 00:46:23:29
Anyway, so again, the old after Nevada, we cover a bunch of stories. It’s awesome. Even ran into this, this double D story was a, was a buck kind of, that we all liked back in 2016 and 2011, 2016. Those were years that we will never forget.

00:46:23:29 –> 00:46:24:17
Could do. No

00:46:25:05 –> 00:47:05:29
Bro, we’ll never forget ’em. There was more 200 inches, I mean, I wanna say 20 plus 200 inches on Trochem in two units, right? And so anyway, double D, he was a Nevada deer in 24, 2 40 when people talked 20 fours, 2 41, 2 45. He was alive and well, the biggest, we had seen him 2015, he grew to 2016. 2016 he was off the charts. Still looked young to me. 2017 started to turn into crap. 2018. We didn’t get him. He kind of went m i a for a minute 2019. They smoke him. So anyway, and he and he, he looked ish and just old. Just

00:47:06:04 –> 00:47:07:28
Old. I think that’s yeah. Old, old deer.

00:47:08:05 –> 00:47:17:25
Yeah. In, in crappy country so to speak. You know, just desert, crazy country. So Mojave greens live there. So anyway, you gotta watch yourself but you know, live

00:47:17:25 –> 00:47:19:04
In a lot of parts of Nevada.

00:47:19:23 –> 00:47:20:28
Yeah. Down that. Remember Chris

00:47:21:27 –> 00:47:26:05
In 2012? Oh yeah, you and I woke one up.

00:47:26:14 –> 00:47:27:05
Come on. He

00:47:27:05 –> 00:47:28:00
Didn’t even flinch

00:47:28:20 –> 00:47:28:29
Come

00:47:29:06 –> 00:47:31:14
I thing was I about stepped on it, coiled up.

00:47:31:29 –> 00:47:33:11
Was it a Mojave Green? Oh

00:47:33:11 –> 00:47:35:01
Yeah, 2 41.

00:47:35:27 –> 00:47:36:23
No way. Chris

00:47:36:25 –> 00:47:38:04
Videoed it. Remember that

00:47:38:04 –> 00:47:46:28
Very bottom end of 2 41? Yeah, it’s got ’em, if you look on the map, it, I mean it’s got ’em. And then if you take a picture and come back and Google ’em gives you the guy, the heebie-jeebies

00:47:47:18 –> 00:47:48:17
Yeah. Anyway.

00:47:48:21 –> 00:47:49:02
It does.

00:47:49:19 –> 00:47:53:06
Well, let’s end that on that note. Let’s leave Nevada altogether.

00:47:53:17 –> 00:48:00:16
Let’s leave it. Good grief. All right. One thing about Nevada, what’s so exciting about Nevada? Bron Carter, come on. Come on, let go.

00:48:00:17 –> 00:48:01:17
Okay. This is the silver.

00:48:01:28 –> 00:49:00:17
I just wanna tell you, I freaking love Nevada. You’re out there by yourself no matter where you go, no matter where you go, except for Vegas, right? Okay. But right now, you’d be by yourself down there too. ’cause it goes down. But anyway, you’re by yourself. You’ve got a quality tag, almost everything’s managed tight, so you’re not dealing with just tons and tons of pressure long seasons. And I wanna say, we look back at those days, there was times where they were hunting Thanksgiving in 2 41 to 2 45 Thanksgiving rifle hunts. And then we look at it, ah, I wish I could hunt back then. Well, people are gonna look at us now and go, man, I wish I could have hunt October 5th to October 31st. That, you know what I mean? ’cause nothing stays the same. They’re gonna shorten that season at some point. And I’m just saying, pretty awesome. There’s long season dates, whether it’s archery, muzzle, rifle. Man, if you made it kind of your hunt of the year, you’d have an incredible opportunity to go out there and be by yourself for lots and lots of days and hunt big deer. So I love it. All right. All right. All right. I’m done flying

00:49:00:17 –> 00:49:05:16
Nevada by May 4th or points only till May 11th. Don’t miss it. Okay.

00:49:05:20 –> 00:49:11:01
What’s next? It, what’s next? I don’t know. Should we jump into Montana real quick? I, I feel like we aired.

00:49:11:29 –> 00:49:19:10
Ow. Well, I knew we were gonna do that. We were gonna do that. ’cause that’s why we started from Nevada first, because probably has the most excitement. Montana

00:49:19:29 –> 00:49:21:01
Sheep, goat, moose we’re

00:49:21:12 –> 00:49:21:20
Very

00:49:21:20 –> 00:49:21:24
Tough

00:49:21:24 –> 00:49:22:17
To draw. Of

00:49:22:17 –> 00:49:23:26
Course. You’re excited about moose. No,

00:49:24:01 –> 00:49:28:14
I’m not Carter. I’m not, I I have no, don’t know why you thought that

00:49:28:25 –> 00:49:30:29
Once again. Well, you’ve got maximum moose points. Okay.

00:49:30:29 –> 00:49:31:18
Doesn’t mean

00:49:31:18 –> 00:49:35:04
I kill a goat. Does not mean killed a goat. And you are still applying for goats?

00:49:35:18 –> 00:49:36:29
Probably not anymore. Oh,

00:49:38:21 –> 00:49:41:04
Wow. That’s so against Montana goats killing too.

00:49:41:04 –> 00:49:51:08
No, no. I just remember, I’m in a hunt hunt this year. I drew a tag in Alaska and I’m like, okay. Yeah, I’ll probably never kill, I haven’t even killed, I haven’t even been on the hunt yet, so I shouldn’t count chickens. Maybe

00:49:51:08 –> 00:49:52:23
You won’t even be able to go, Bronson. I know,

00:49:52:23 –> 00:49:53:22
That’s what I mean. I get

00:49:53:22 –> 00:49:55:05
Should just covid just, just

00:49:55:05 –> 00:50:00:07
Relax. But I’m, I’m vacillating back and forth on what to do with Montana goat. Because how

00:50:00:07 –> 00:50:10:16
About, how about Alaska? Okay, I’m gonna divert from Montana to Alaska. How about the Bears of spring gonna be frolicking with residents? Yeah. Only, huh? Yeah,

00:50:10:18 –> 00:50:11:02
They’re

00:50:11:02 –> 00:50:12:00
Gonna get a free pass. I think there’s

00:50:12:00 –> 00:50:19:23
Gonna be a fair amount of people that aren’t either through financial difficulties, which is understandable, or just not wanting to travel, travel

00:50:19:23 –> 00:50:20:22
Restrictions and

00:50:21:07 –> 00:50:21:28
Just being able to,

00:50:21:28 –> 00:50:35:28
What about Canada? What about, what about all the free passes game? There’s gonna be a, just a, a surge of an older age class AC critter in certain areas where people cannot physically get to, huh? Yeah. Tell me I’m wrong. No,

00:50:35:28 –> 00:50:53:10
I, I don’t think you’re wrong. Hopefully this stuff shakes itself out, relaxes, runs its course. Whatever the right word is for that. Here’s in the next month or two to where we’re then tapering back off. Like we’re seeing in some of other parts of the world that, that, that contracted this sooner. But anyway, let’s get back

00:50:53:10 –> 00:50:55:14
To Montana’s talk. Yes. Let’s go back to the lower 48.

00:50:55:14 –> 00:50:58:10
Let’s, let’s go, let’s talk about Big Sky, because

00:50:58:10 –> 00:51:03:07
Hawaii, I’m not going to Hawaii either. Bronson, think about it. I was gonna go up there. I

00:51:03:07 –> 00:51:04:14
Hunt. I know you were with

00:51:04:14 –> 00:51:05:06
My family. Yep.

00:51:05:07 –> 00:51:11:18
What, what state haven’t we talked about today on the podcast? Let’s just rattle ’em off right now just so we cover all 50.

00:51:12:09 –> 00:51:15:06
We were gonna go up there in frolic on the beach and go hunt

00:51:15:23 –> 00:51:19:16
Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia. All right.

00:51:19:29 –> 00:51:21:01
Just saying New York,

00:51:21:04 –> 00:51:22:29
New Jersey, Delaware, Vermont, New Hampshire.

00:51:23:08 –> 00:51:28:08
Where are we going? There’s access bucks that are gonna continue to live because we’re not going and not issues Everybody

00:51:28:08 –> 00:51:43:26
Else. Not everybody else too. That’s right. That’s right. So I know it anyway. Montana applications for sheet moose going, Bisons, let’s round with it, are due on May 1st. Did away with paper applications. That’s a new change. You got, you cannot take. Whoa,

00:51:44:07 –> 00:51:45:10
Whoa, whoa. It’s

00:51:45:10 –> 00:52:08:12
Not a big problem. It’s not a big problem. Yeah. Everybody’s been applying online anyway. We see this when they, when they start doing online and making paper go away pretty soon the state realizes we’re only getting 10% of applications on paper. But now, but it holds our draw up by a month. Because they’ve gotta wait for ’em to come in. Then they’ve gotta either scan them and double, double check ’em. Hand entry.

00:52:08:12 –> 00:52:11:02
Well, my penman, my penmanship alone would cause ’em to wait. That’s

00:52:11:02 –> 00:52:34:07
Right. You’re right. So they call in Greek. Yeah. You know, translators for yours. Yeah. But anyway. Yeah. So now they’re gonna be able to get this, draw these draws out in 10 to 15 days. Boom. That’s gonna be awesome. Yeah. Okay. We already talked about the deer and elk. The deadline is April 1st. That’s still coming up, but we covered that in the March magazine. They’re gonna have those results out by the middle part of April still. And people are

00:52:34:20 –> 00:52:40:04
Comply for deer and elk and do sheep, goat, and moves at the same all together. All the do it now, if you wanna jump in, has not been available like that before.

00:52:40:04 –> 00:52:45:17
It’s all open. It’s all open right now. That’s right. When it comes to sheep, moose and goat

00:52:46:09 –> 00:52:47:14
Apply, apply, apply from

00:52:47:14 –> 00:52:51:08
Non-resident perspective, they have a list of units that are open for non-resident

00:52:51:13 –> 00:52:52:19
Changes year to year. That

00:52:52:19 –> 00:53:25:26
Changes year to year. There are a few units, most notably, some of those sheep units that have high tag numbers. Goat units that have higher tag numbers. They’re almost always open to non-residents. Then they rotate probably 75% of the rest of the units. Just to, just to give, you know, spread. Spread the love, spread the opportunity. But also I think it’s probably somewhat resident related. So non-residents, you know, hurt drawing odds to those rogue units as they randomly come up. We all of a sudden crush it with 500 applicants that year. All right. Next year they’re gone. And the residents has it, have it back to themselves.

00:53:25:28 –> 00:53:35:00
Let’s go back to Nevada. I would like to see some of those sheep units rotate around a little bit. I like that about Montana. Yeah. They rotate around. Now we always get to hunt the brakes. How cool is that?

00:53:35:00 –> 00:53:36:29
Yeah, you always can do that if you want. That’s right.

00:53:37:08 –> 00:53:38:04
So anyway, but

00:53:38:04 –> 00:53:56:18
Anyway, that’s the biggest new, new change is just that the, the draw results are gonna be out quick. May, they’re anticipating by May 11th. Keep in mind, do May 1st. Results are out May 11th for the me, moose, sheep, goat. Bison gonna be awesome. Yeah. Gonna be able to flip those around

00:53:56:28 –> 00:54:21:19
Few of those guys that are lucky enough to draw. What a great tag you have. Although there’s just a very few, it’s 10% non-resident get 10% of a regions quota. That’s right. No more than 10% in a particular unit. Yep. And so, you know, you kind of, you’re kind of limited to a degree. One choice. One choice on the application for Rams. That’s right. Second choice is use, use. Do, take use, don’t count the word to slam, but use do take away from the non-resident quota and region.

00:54:21:29 –> 00:54:46:06
Huh? They do. They do. And can, and I’m not gonna tell anybody else what to do. Obviously there’s people that have killed, killed rams and want to kill a U just for the opportunity to hunt. Hunt another sheep or maybe mount it along with the ram. That’s cool. It’s awesome. But does come outta the non-resident quota. Up to 10% of a region-wide quota. A couple of precursors. When you go to apply, you’ll have to add the base hunting license for non-res $15 conservation license for 10. Those are biased.

00:54:46:06 –> 00:54:47:04
Let’s just call it the policing.

00:54:47:08 –> 00:55:12:04
All right. That and then, and then you’re dealing with an application fee of sheet moose go and bison of $50 each. And if you’re applying and you want to do a bonus point, there’s another $20, there’s a bunch of add-on fees in general. It’ll end up being, you know, 70 to, if you do one, one species, they’re gonna end up being about a hundred bucks. ’cause you gotta buy the $25 base in conservation licenses. Plus your bonus point fee plus your application fee. Pretty

00:55:12:04 –> 00:55:14:06
Pricey bro. You know, it’s rather roughly a hundred

00:55:14:06 –> 00:55:14:12
Bucks

00:55:14:16 –> 00:55:15:26
For Compare Nevada. Yeah.

00:55:15:26 –> 00:55:19:29
For the second and third one. It’ll end up being, you know, 75, 80 $5. You

00:55:19:29 –> 00:55:26:04
Don’t have to pay the, the point fee. You can elect to just jump in the draw. But you, but they are a squared point system. Yeah. Probably want,

00:55:26:04 –> 00:55:26:28
You wanna run the math

00:55:26:28 –> 00:55:27:16
On that? No,

00:55:27:19 –> 00:55:29:04
No one name in the hat versus

00:55:29:29 –> 00:55:33:12
10 names in that. Let’s just do simple math because it’s all I’m capable. Yeah. And that’s

00:55:33:12 –> 00:55:41:12
A guy with three bonus points. It’s got 10 names in the hat. Three. Three times threes. Nine plus one for the application. What about the guys with 10 or 15 or 19?

00:55:41:15 –> 00:55:43:19
One? Let’s just stick with 10 ’cause I can do that one. Hey, a hundred,

00:55:44:00 –> 00:55:44:24
A hundred names in the hat.

00:55:44:24 –> 00:55:57:11
Plus one. 1 0 1. Yep. Versus my kids one. Okay. Okay. So anyway, you can, guys can see the value there. Although it’s hard to see the value. I’m, I’m one of those guys with 19 and so, you know, you

00:55:57:11 –> 00:55:58:24
Just apply and forget about it. They

00:55:58:24 –> 00:56:09:04
Fleeced me for 19 years, right back when we were newlyw probably about costing my marriage, you know, so I’m Jana deserves that. I draw a sheep tag because she’s been through some things.

00:56:09:09 –> 00:56:11:07
She’s, you know what I mean? She’s paid the dues along with you.

00:56:11:17 –> 00:56:14:02
That’s right. That’s right. Okay. All right. We covered bison.

00:56:14:05 –> 00:56:14:16
Bison.

00:56:14:16 –> 00:56:15:06
There’s no points for

00:56:15:06 –> 00:56:33:29
Bison. Yeah. No points. Situation for them. They migrate out that north and that west corner of Yellowstone National Park with weather long three month seasons there. Totally random draw odds are not incredible. But it’s one of the unique places you can hunt a free ranging bison. Wild free, no offenses.

00:56:34:13 –> 00:56:45:20
Kill a bison. The best meat on planet earth. How about that? It’s pretty good. It’s not, it’s good but it’s not like moose. So anyway, definitely a place you should be doing it. You wanna talk about antelope real quick?

00:56:45:24 –> 00:56:47:06
Well, we just threw it. Good.

00:56:47:06 –> 00:56:51:06
Great. We threw it here. I knew you wanted to. Go ahead. Go ahead Bronson.

00:56:51:07 –> 00:57:21:17
Hey, we gotta talk about it sometime. We’re gonna talk about it right now ’cause it’s in this magazine. So antelope’s a little bit unique. They do allow you to apply till June 1st for them with the results out by mid-June this year. It’s gonna be out quicker. Again, Montana as a general rule, is more known for an opportunity. Antelope state tags are pretty cheap. $205 for non-residents. That’s cheap. I can’t think of a cheaper, in fact, I think we at played this and debit. Debit got the answer we

00:57:21:17 –> 00:57:28:08
Did. Remember Brian? We did. But the get asked to get from here to there with a win with a headwind. That’s all I’m saying. Now let’s move on.

00:57:29:26 –> 00:57:30:05
Okay,

00:57:30:05 –> 00:57:48:05
Let’s talk about Kansas. Apply for Montana. We, we are advocates of plan in in Montana, Kansas. What a great state, huh? Okay. The one thing that bugs me about Kansas love system, I love to hunt the mule there, but I, it bugs me. You gotta apply for the white till tag. And then how much are

00:57:48:05 –> 00:57:50:14
You gonna pay for that? By the way? Paint that picture.

00:57:50:14 –> 00:58:37:05
You’re gonna pay $442 and 50 cents. Okay? Plus the other fleecing that comes with it. And so you’ve got this, you’ve got this whitetail tag and you can apply for the milder stamp that runs about a 15 to 20% draw roughly 10 to fif, 10 to 20% type draw for the stamp. There’s no points associated with the stamp. There are points associated with the deer tag, which is a whitetail tag until you use a stamp or get a stamp. And so at the end of the day, you’re applying for a mulder stamp. Let’s just say you have 20% draws and, and you, you jump in for a whitetail tag and you got this 440 some odd dollars tag that’s non-refundable. For what? For a whitetail. And if you wanna go whitetail hunting apply, you should apply. It’s got great whitetails in it. We’ve got great outfitters with great whitetails.

00:58:37:20 –> 00:59:08:23
All is well there. It’s just kind of bothersome. You know, non-residents can either hunt mul deer with a bow or a muzz or not even rifle. They don’t have points associated with the stamp. There’s no way to really just apply for mul deer only. And so, you know, I’ve killed a white till there. We’ve hunted there. Chris, you’ve hunted there, you did the walk-in areas. All of that. All is well if you’re wanting to, if you’re a white till hunter, go do it. If you’re a milder hunter, not so much worth it. It’s just tough. It’s tough. Nowadays, funds are gonna be tighter this year. Well, for a lot of people. So

00:59:08:26 –> 00:59:15:18
The other part of that is it’s not 97% public land. It’s 97% private land. And so, good point you,

00:59:15:27 –> 00:59:19:26
Are you going on record saying that? Is it really 97 or is it 95? I’m

00:59:19:26 –> 00:59:27:22
Using loose terms that just came to my head. Say don’t quote me. I don’t want the state assessor and auditor calling me saying it’s actually 95.2 or

00:59:27:22 –> 00:59:30:18
A guy that draws a tag saying, you said it’s right here.

00:59:30:28 –> 01:00:04:02
But really what we’re trying to paint the picture of is you, you just don’t draw tag and go hunt public land in Kansas, there are public land walkin areas that plenty of other people have done well on those too. They’re not huge, they’re not all over the place and they don’t always stay consistent from year to year to year before they get discovered or they change hands or whatever else. Or change management styles, whatever. Bottom line you most often are gonna have to pay for access on private land or use an outfitter that has access to get privately managed private land.

01:00:04:14 –> 01:00:11:06
You know, their application period is like the smallest of any state I can think of. April 1st to the 24th. That’s awesome. Okay.

01:00:11:21 –> 01:00:13:05
Done. Tight is

01:00:13:05 –> 01:00:15:00
Harder. What time I, what else

01:00:15:01 –> 01:00:15:24
Do you need to It could,

01:00:16:12 –> 01:00:19:01
Four days are Mulder and Whitetails. Oh,

01:00:19:01 –> 01:00:19:17
Okay. Dear

01:00:19:29 –> 01:00:26:12
But dear. And then you’ve got the non-resident. We didn’t even talk about the hunting license fee of $97 and 50 cents on top of 4 42. Just saying

01:00:26:13 –> 01:00:31:08
They could open that for, it’s on a three day weekend if they needed to. Three day weekend, get in and be done. That’s right. All

01:00:31:08 –> 01:00:59:17
I’m saying is, I’m just saying, so anyway, we do have outfitters. That’s, it’s, you know, what I do like about Kansas is you can tell the year you’re gonna get drawn with one point you’re guaranteed to draw pretty much That’s right. With no points. You’re pretty much gonna go keep that in mind and you know, high, great drawing odds. And so you can go, you can go, you can, you can plan on going, you can go, you can, you can book it, you can send a deposit to the outfitter and, and, but you know, don’t plan on getting leftover tags anymore. That’s a little bit tougher. That’s

01:00:59:17 –> 01:02:04:19
Right. It it is. And we have all units for both white till and the Mulder stamp. All the drying odds are in the magazine as well as on our website. Didn’t mention that about Montana as well. We cover a breakdown of every single unit in Montana. Sheep, moose, goat, all every unit opened in non residence. A brief description, five years of harvest, statistics, drawing odds, all that type of stuff. It’s in the magazine that, that’s what we produce every month this time of year. Same thing with Nevada. And if it’s, there’s a unit in there that we didn’t cover in the case, maybe a resident of Montana and wanted to know what unit X or Y was, that’s what our online member services are for. Have an online hunt planner as well as the online drawing odds for all western states, all species, all units to be able to, you got a specific unit that we didn’t cover, look it up. Go check it out on our Epic Outdoors website. You do have to be a member of Epic Outdoors to be able to log in and see that that’s not something free for the world. So join Epic Outdoors by giving us a call or jumping on the website and, and epic outdoors.com and sign it up a hundred dollars a year. You can only

01:02:04:19 –> 01:02:24:00
Put so much on paper. I think that’s what we’re getting at. You can go online, epic outdoors and check out everything as far as in relation to drawing odds, but you can only put so much on paper. So sometimes we have to be selective, sometimes we get to do all non-resident units, just depends on the state. But we try to satisfy everybody. It’s kind of tough. Yep.

01:02:24:03 –> 01:03:14:04
One more shout out to another sponsor for us today is the guys over at phone scope Digi scoping accessories there for your phone. Capture that it’s obviously taken the world by storm, so to speak. Enough. Little shout out. You said that was the last one. I’m gonna do one last one Exhibit a stealth cam.com. Stealth cam.com. Okay, here we go. That’s right.

01:03:22:03 –> 01:03:22:29
What are we giving away?

01:03:24:03 –> 01:03:28:20
Okay. Yeah, I thought that’s where go We need to give away a stealth cam. I headed there. Go I headed there. Okay.

01:03:28:21 –> 01:03:29:17
I’m headed there. Sorry. Okay.

01:03:29:21 –> 01:03:40:28
But, but anything you need stealth cam wise, I mean, you never know what the availability on some of this product’s gonna be. Bronson, there’s not, people are not able to ship some product out there.

01:03:41:01 –> 01:03:58:05
Well, some of these companies, that’s partly why we, we did what we did on some of our orders went, I guess we’d call it on the aggressive side, is some of these companies, as we know as a lot of companies around the US are not able, the workforce is not able to just walk in their factory and go to the work.

01:03:58:25 –> 01:03:59:19
That’s right. All right.

01:03:59:19 –> 01:04:03:28
They’re not. And so when that happens, stuff gets shut down. You’re seeing it with fish and game agencies. People

01:04:03:29 –> 01:04:06:24
Don’t want touch boxes. Yeah. They don’t wanna touch gas pumps.

01:04:06:25 –> 01:04:10:13
And so if, if you want to give us a call. Alright,

01:04:10:13 –> 01:04:24:01
Sounds good. So anyway, stealth cam, Chris, we’ll we’ll if, if we don’t have it in stock, we’ll order it for you. Whatever it is you want, get online stealth cam.com. Tell us what you want and we’ll, we’ll get it in for you. Let’s give one

01:04:24:01 –> 01:04:24:06
Away.

01:04:24:15 –> 01:04:25:08
Go for it Chris. All

01:04:25:08 –> 01:04:56:06
Right. We’re giving away a brand new trail camera and the way to enter this is gonna be an Instagram giveaway. So what we’re gonna do is, as you listen to this podcast at any point, take a screenshot on your phone. Make sure and tag us. And so we’re gonna go through all those tags and

01:04:56:13 –> 01:04:56:19
You

01:04:56:20 –> 01:04:56:26
Do.

01:04:57:01 –> 01:04:57:07
Yep.

01:04:57:16 –> 01:04:58:14
And then we do a random

01:04:59:08 –> 01:05:00:02
Number generator

01:05:00:15 –> 01:05:11:26
And get a winner. Right. And we will draw that after the deadline. The deadline’s gonna be Friday, March 27th at 11:59 PM Mountain Standard time.

01:05:11:27 –> 01:05:12:23
Let’s throw in a,

01:05:13:23 –> 01:05:14:16
What are they gonna tag

01:05:14:20 –> 01:05:16:01
Proof box with it too? What

01:05:16:01 –> 01:05:20:25
Are they gonna tag Chris? What? Anything. They got a keyword tag to be able to So tag you find them.

01:05:21:07 –> 01:05:31:17
What you’re gonna do is you’re gonna tag at Epic Hunts and that is our Instagram account. Make sure and tag us there. You can also do hashtag Epic outdoors.

01:05:32:24 –> 01:05:53:24
Right on. Well we appreciate y’all listening. As you can tell, we’re kind of excited here at the office. I know it’s a bummer out there. There’s a lot of people locked in their houses. We’re gonna be locked into our house before long it feels like. Who knows? Be careful out there. Take it for real. There’s there’s, looks like it’s pretty legit. You know this thing, Bronson supposedly came from a bat. Yeah.

01:05:54:07 –> 01:06:04:05
Bat on a carcass. Hanging in a meat locker somewhere in some market. I think jumped from, from animal to animal to person. I’ve read about it. Don’t

01:06:04:05 –> 01:06:13:28
They eat bats too? Once these people, huh? Yeah, it’s gross dude. And these bats, they carry h i v too. Like bats are freaking gross. You’re not supposed to eat baths, aren’t you? Come

01:06:13:28 –> 01:06:16:23
On. I don’t know how we get on that subject, but the answer is no.

01:06:17:10 –> 01:06:18:04
Not supposed to eat

01:06:18:08 –> 01:06:18:22
’em. No,

01:06:19:21 –> 01:06:26:19
They’re gross. So anyway, yeah. A heck of a fight on our hands. Yeah. And hopefully,

01:06:26:19 –> 01:06:38:04
Like I said, with with hopefully we can grit our teeth, get through this next several weeks hopefully, and see things start to mellow out a little bit. The curve to flatten. Read that term on the internet too.

01:06:39:09 –> 01:06:52:22
You know, people, one thing, one thing we’re getting asked a ton, Bronson, is it drawing odds gonna be off the charts? You know what, I think everybody thinks the drawing odds are gonna be off the charts and everybody’s holding tight with their app strategy. Am I wrong? Tell me I’m wrong. No,

01:06:52:24 –> 01:07:38:18
I think it’s a little bit different. If it was, I, I mean as tough as this is hitting our states and nation right now, it’s, I think the consensus is it will be a shorter lived problem. That doesn’t also mean that once you hit the word go that the economy’s cranking again. ’cause it doesn’t react that way. But if you can to some extent weather the storm within your, your business life, employment life or whatever that makes your time away from home come fall, be able to still happen. I think it’ll be all right. So I think for now that’s the saving grace is it feels more like a shorter term thing. This is not gonna be a three year long plague or something like that. Like when the downward in the, you know, a re a full-blown, you know, real

01:07:38:28 –> 01:07:38:29
Economic,

01:07:39:26 –> 01:08:15:26
Economic war into war. And now, you know, the oil, oil is in play over there like it has been sometimes and it’s really been a, a much longer effect. So hopefully that’s the case. I know, I I guess in general terms today, that could change in a month from now. ’cause we talked to dozens and dozens and hundreds of hundreds a month to, to assess what they’re doing in terms of applying. And overall, I I think there’s a general feeling that more people are starting to feel a bit more reserved and switching to maybe points only strategy. That’s their mentality. I don’t see that being widespread yet though rampant. I would say that

01:08:16:02 –> 01:08:18:13
No. And, and in fact New Mexico had like

01:08:19:16 –> 01:08:22:16
Thousands, 10,000, I thought it was 10,000 more. Yeah. You know,

01:08:23:01 –> 01:09:17:01
10,000 more applications submitted now, you know, of course that came on. The c ovid 19 came on right at the end, let’s call it the last week and a half of their application schedule and deadline. And so anyway, maybe it’s not true representative of how people feel, but there’s plenty of confidence out there. People are still applying. So, and we believe you should too. Gain points. You can’t get time back. Meaning if you go a year without points, you know, nobody’s happy about. Nobody’s ever said, man, I’m glad I didn’t apply 10 years ago. Nobody ever says that. They always say, man, I wish I would’ve applied 10 years ago. I wish I wouldn’t have missed that one point. Had a guy today, I had maximum dear points in Wyoming. I don’t know why or how, but now I’m one behind. I do not know why, how that happened. That one point is making the difference making or breaking his opportunity.

01:09:17:21 –> 01:09:18:04
That’s

01:09:18:04 –> 01:09:30:20
Right. So, all right guys, be healthy out there. Don’t touch too many gas pumps, you know what I mean? At least bare hands. Put on some gloves and gas up your truck and be happy. Huh? Bronson?

01:09:30:21 –> 01:09:31:12
This’ll pass.

01:09:32:01 –> 01:09:43:08
It’s gonna pass. We’re gonna go hunting this year, right? So All right everybody, we appreciate all the support out there. Get online, check out our April magazine. It’s at the printer. And apply if you need it.

01:09:43:08 –> 01:09:50:29
It’s time. If you need the mag, if it’s overdue, you’ve listened to us long enough, give us a call. 4 3 5 2 6 3 0 7 7 7.
