What had a little

00:00:29:21 –> 00:00:31:27
On tv. How about that? That’s right,

00:00:31:27 –> 00:00:33:10
Chris. Chris, tell us about it. About

00:00:33:10 –> 00:00:36:04
What? I was on the internet, not tv. It doesn’t count.

00:00:37:02 –> 00:00:43:27
And covid it’s all TV because internet is TV during C Ovid 19 era. So I’m just, so

00:00:43:27 –> 00:00:52:20
Chris had an addition audition on America’s Got Talent where his dog sang. It’s pretty cool. But Chris sang as well. Yeah, Chris Sing as well. That’s,

00:00:52:20 –> 00:00:54:26
That’s the only reason we got on. ’cause they’ve

00:00:54:26 –> 00:00:55:16
Had singing

00:00:55:18 –> 00:00:59:16
Dogs and they’ve had singing people, but they’ve never had singing dogs and people. Wow.

00:01:00:14 –> 00:01:08:06
It was pretty awesome though. That was a week or so ago. And they told you, Chris, you’re, you’re going to Hollywood or is that a different show that says that?

00:01:08:09 –> 00:01:08:27
No, I think they

00:01:08:27 –> 00:01:11:06
Think it’s a different show. Yeah, that’s, they say that, that too. Yeah.

00:01:11:23 –> 00:01:30:08
Bronson, if you have a question about TV shows, actors, actresses, whatever. Bronson knows his stuff. I don’t know where he got it. But he knows who’s No, he, well it goes back to John, that photographic memory that he’s got. It’s not, but we’re thankful for it here in the office. I’m jealous. Me too. I’m jealous too. What It’s like, say something

00:01:30:08 –> 00:01:32:11
Seinfeld. You guys gonna act like you’ve never heard. Se

00:01:32:11 –> 00:01:33:23
We’ve se we’ve heard a

00:01:33:23 –> 00:01:34:23
Seinfeld that’s kind of like

00:01:34:29 –> 00:01:35:27
We’ve heard of Seinfeld,

00:01:35:27 –> 00:01:36:16
Modern family.

00:01:36:19 –> 00:01:43:12
But anyway, so do we want go in on this anymore moving? Chris was out there, front and center singing did a great job. His dog was singing along with him.

00:01:44:01 –> 00:01:47:15
God, a hundred percent. Is there five votes or four? I don’t all of, there’s four

00:01:47:26 –> 00:01:49:29
Official. Yeah, so that’s Didn’t

00:01:51:29 –> 00:01:54:26
Simon’s Lap dog. Simon’s Lap Dog liked you though.

00:01:54:26 –> 00:01:55:20
Yeah, that’s right.

00:01:56:03 –> 00:02:03:05
If you wanna see it, it’s pretty easy to find. If you go to Facebook and just search America’s Got Talent, it’ll say the online edition or something like that, right Chris?

00:02:03:05 –> 00:02:04:05
Yeah. Any other keywords?

00:02:04:07 –> 00:02:05:06
It’s fun. Chris Peterson?

00:02:05:11 –> 00:02:05:17
No,

00:02:05:17 –> 00:02:09:12
I’ll just go to their, if America’s Got Talent, Facebook or their YouTube, you can find it.

00:02:09:29 –> 00:02:20:16
Chris has got far more talent than Epic Outdoors deserves, that’s all. But it does take talent to kill Buck. So, you know, you gotta pull the trigger. I just wanna, I wanna clarify that we have talent too.

00:02:21:19 –> 00:02:59:08
It’s crunching numbers once in a while. All right. Well we want to thank Under Armour. We appreciate them and their support with us here at Epic Outdoors. We got some things, fact, we’ve got a meeting with them here next day or two. Looking forward to that and kind of set, set us up for the year on our relationship with them and things that they want us to get cranking on. What’s up, what’s up, what’s up? I know I’m seeing all of these hand signs. I just don’t wanna miss anything. John, let me know as we get started here. I guess Bronson, we kind of wanted to, we got a new, another publication back to back. Cranked out a couple magazines within seven to 10 days of each other.

00:03:00:14 –> 00:03:18:22
That’s right. The June magazine went out oh, 10 days or so after the May. So you should be getting the May or have it in your hands. June’s on its way as well. And yeah, we just covered the last two states, which are California and Arizona. What do you wanna start with? Let’s talk about ’em real quick, then we’ll talk about other fun

00:03:18:22 –> 00:03:21:08
Stories. Well, we really like California, but let’s start with Arizona.

00:03:21:27 –> 00:03:22:12
Let, well,

00:03:22:19 –> 00:03:26:07
Oh, do you wanna get on mind? Go ahead, say what you say, what you have, say what you have to say. No

00:03:26:07 –> 00:03:31:00
Offense to people in California, but it’s just a shorter state. We don’t have as much to say, but I like to, it’s dude

00:03:31:00 –> 00:03:32:18
June 2nd. Call it a day. I’m

00:03:32:18 –> 00:03:41:13
A checklist guy and I like scratching stuff off. And so you do something quick, a quick chore. You’re making headway in your mind before the three hour project gets there.

00:03:41:13 –> 00:03:42:24
Alright, so check this one off.

00:03:43:05 –> 00:03:45:20
All right. How many seconds? 1530.

00:03:45:22 –> 00:03:47:24
Oh, you’re you, the mic and it’s hot.

00:03:48:06 –> 00:04:19:19
Well anyway, California’s a state that’s from a non-resident perspective is a little bit hard maybe to justify adding to your, your application schedule. It’s a fairly expensive non-refundable hunting license to, to apply and, and then it’s a minimal application fee up front after that. But the kick, the real kicker is they’re pretty conservative with their tags. I’ll just use it that phrase it that way with their tags to non-residents. So you can draw one antelope tag. I think they give like 250 a year, but non-residents can only get one.

00:04:20:22 –> 00:04:26:04
Those sound like drawing odds to me, but well not total tag numbers in an entire state. Yeah, go ahead.

00:04:26:15 –> 00:04:29:28
One elk tag, one antelope tag can have a non-residents name on it.

00:04:30:13 –> 00:04:34:11
Cow bull one total, right? Of all three species.

00:04:34:11 –> 00:04:37:05
It just says elk. It just says elk. So yes, the answer

00:04:37:05 –> 00:04:39:05
Is yes. All three species could be a Cowley Roosevelt.

00:04:39:20 –> 00:04:40:10
So what

00:04:40:10 –> 00:04:42:05
I like to call regular elk. But anyway, keep going.

00:04:42:08 –> 00:04:53:11
Bighorn sheep. They do, they did change that a few years back. That limited us to up to 10%, which this year allows us to have two. And when they do the drawing for, wow.

00:04:53:25 –> 00:04:55:22
Two. Okay, keep going. Sorry.

00:04:55:22 –> 00:05:02:12
Sorry. It’s, it’s doubled. Just blew me away. It’s doubled the antelope and elk. It, it adds up to all the elk and antelope tags combined.

00:05:03:03 –> 00:05:09:20
Totally makes sense. It’s all, we give 250 antelope tags. We’re gonna give one to non-residents and we’re gonna give 10% of sheep

00:05:09:20 –> 00:05:33:28
Tag. We’re gonna give 27 sheep tags. We’ll give you two of ’em. Wow. Anyway, but super nice. Appreciate it. But it’s desert sheep. So overall it’s a little bit tough to apply. They do run, they have a 75, 25 split when they break their tags apart, 75% in the max point draw, 25% random. But when it comes to, that’s when it comes to elk, antelope and sheep. And they run the random draw first,

00:05:34:23 –> 00:05:35:16
Which is, so

00:05:35:25 –> 00:05:42:22
It’s makes you feel at least better that if you have zero points or less than max, that you know, which is 18, that you got a chance.

00:05:43:13 –> 00:05:50:24
Non-residents that have max don’t feel so good. ’cause we could possibly pull in a, our non-resident quota could come from a random from

00:05:50:24 –> 00:05:51:19
Two random dudes

00:05:52:00 –> 00:06:00:10
Literally. And a guy that’s paid his dues through the might Any theft. Yeah. He’s looking at it going, okay, I’m ready. And they’re like, we already issued two.

00:06:00:28 –> 00:07:05:29
That’s, you know what I mean? That’s right. Some years, however, we’ve talked and they never draw a non-resident, you know, it’s just in the sheep tag, even though they’re up, up eligible for up to 10%, they, some years don’t even meet that. So I guess don’t let it stop you. But it’s, it’s not a no-brainer state to apply. The Deere’s entirely different. They don’t have a quota system on that. But they also do it opposite. They run the 90% draw. 90% of the deer tags go to people at the most points and then a 10% random draw. So they leave almost nothing. You know, because a lot of their better deer units have such low quotas anyway. You’re dealing with like one tag in the random draw and, and they’re terrible odds. So we, we cover it largely from a perspective to, to give the residents everybody’s in the hat together. So the odds you see portrayed in our magazine are just the odds. Everybody’s in the hat together with those limitations. Like I said, if a non-resident antelope comes outta the hat, boom, that’s the last non-resident. Same for out, same for two sheep deer, it doesn’t really matter. Whoever gets the gets the tags wins. So really tough deadline’s June 2nd. I don’t know what else you wanna add to that. Well,

00:07:06:00 –> 00:08:05:26
I was just saying just really tough to compute the odds because when we’re allocated up to two, you know, up to two for the entire state, safer sheep. That’s all I’m saying is, well, you can look at the unit by unit odds. One in 2,500. Okay. Pretty awesome. One in 1500. One in 1100. It would be one thing if those were your odds. But then we’re limited to two total tags. It’s just hard. It’s just hard from a non-resident perspective. And we cover states from a non-resident perspective, assuming you residents kind of know where you’re going and what you’re doing. California is one of those states. Even the residents are a little bit in the dark and in large part, there’s a lot of you guys out there don’t call and crush me for it. There’s a lot of guys that know what they’re doing, but there’s a lot of guys that are calling in and, and, and we get a lot of demand. I mean, let’s face it for what California’s given non-residents, it deserves about an honorable mention in the magazine. It deserves a, an an update, an alert Yeah. Of a half page or a page. But we cover it in large part for the yeah, for the residents as well.

00:08:05:26 –> 00:08:36:00
Have a lot of residents there. Residents are obviously a lot cheaper. You’re probably buying hunting license to licenses to hunt turkeys or pigs or other leftover second choice deer tags, things like that. So it’s not, it’s a no brainer for you to do it. We’ve got several awesome stories. World class, some awesome rams and people that drew in the random, they tell the story somebody’s happened now they were residents of California, but still cool stories. So yeah, that’s coming at you again. Deadline June 2nd. What’s the cost of that non-resident? Well, it’s

00:08:36:00 –> 00:08:36:26
70, well 78

00:08:36:27 –> 00:08:37:29
Something cents.

00:08:38:04 –> 00:08:58:01
$178 and 20 cents. And then you’ll have some plug and play miniature fees of just being applying with a credit card. You know what I mean? And then what, what, I don’t know. Same thing. All right. And then, but you know, as far as that, you’ll have a, a control hunt application fee of, of $8 and 15 cents. So

00:08:58:06 –> 00:09:06:08
185 bucks if you’re just gonna do a sheep. I mean, I’m rounding 85 or six, whatever that, so it’s not cheap for really slim odds for

00:09:06:08 –> 00:09:16:02
Desert sheep though, was you were, you know, crunching the numbers on this one, Adam. I mean the one thing that kept coming to mind was how incredible the, the sheep are for how many rams they kill. I

00:09:16:02 –> 00:09:26:01
Think it was 28 rams last year. And I’m counting every dead sheep, you know, there’s a few fundraising tags and things like that. And of those half of them were 10 or older.

00:09:26:09 –> 00:09:27:26
Yeah. Unbelievable. That, that’s,

00:09:28:09 –> 00:09:39:17
That tells me they’re probably slightly under hunting some of their units because I mean, there’s multiple 13 and 14, even a 17 year old ram on the checkout. I’ve never seen something that old. Never.

00:09:40:00 –> 00:09:51:28
What does one look like? You know what we saw 1, 2 62 down there in Nevada. We might have remember one, remember that? Remember him. We might have seen, I mean, horns was flaking off. Like, it’s so seeing so much sun.

00:09:52:03 –> 00:09:53:13
Oh yeah. Remember him? Oh,

00:09:53:14 –> 00:09:56:12
I did. I mean, I felt bad for him coming to water every day

00:09:56:12 –> 00:10:00:29
At, at the exact same time. He was a, he was probably only a low one sixties caliber ram. But man, he was,

00:10:01:03 –> 00:10:44:19
He. And the, the older you get, you know how we get into those habitual, you know, this is what we do. We walk in, we grab a monster and a diet Coke. We’re double fisting. Both maybe a little deal of water. So we feel better that we might drink a water throughout the day. Of course, Devvin Nestle Devon’s crushing the water. So anyway, and then, you know, so when you get older you get all of these, you know, you get all these habitual habits going on and this is what we do. And that old rem remember he’d come in at clockwork. Oh yeah. Clockwork. Clockwork. Clockwork. By himself. By himself. Anyway, so speaking of getting older, Bronson, I wanted you to tell us a story about when you’ve aged a little and you were chasing your kid around the house. Haven’t

00:10:44:19 –> 00:10:45:07
I already told this

00:10:45:27 –> 00:10:47:06
On the podcast? I

00:10:47:06 –> 00:11:00:14
Don’t know. I don’t think so. I wish somebody would say yes and I wouldn’t have to say it again, but I don’t, I thought we had, but Well, yeah, it was, I remember it was June 10th probably, what, two years ago? Come on

00:11:00:14 –> 00:11:02:10
June 10th. Who remembers this kind of thing?

00:11:02:23 –> 00:11:03:02
You wanna

00:11:03:02 –> 00:11:03:25
Know a good memory?

00:11:04:03 –> 00:11:53:04
No. You wanna know why is, it was exactly 60 days before I had a, a doll sheet putt in Alaska and I’m like, I am, I’m screwed. Just for all of you that had kids around the house or even teenage boys. We were all there once when we’re kind of becoming of age and you’re trying to test your old man a little bit, maybe a little wrestling or we all did it right. You know, we all try to show your old man. You got it right. Well, my boy and I were having, having some wrestling around town, around the house and kind of stopped. And he walked by me in the kitchen and, and knuckled to the ribs or something. And I turned around and started running down the hall after him and caught full speed after about 15 feet. Caught my big toe on the door jams, just jammed it straight into it and went down in a massive heap.

00:11:53:05 –> 00:12:26:10
And I am, I am in excruciating pain. I mean, I am, I am dying. And Roland, of course, he’s what? Laughing. Laughing, laughing. His laughing as hard he can. And we’re getting supposed to be getting ready for church. Oh, it hurt. And so, yeah, I limped to church. I’ve never, and it was terrible. Came home and it’s, it’s a Sunday. And so fortunately my orthopedic doctor is a hunter. He’s a sheep hunter. And I texted him, I said, Hey, I, I would not be bothering you on a Sunday if I didn’t have a, a problem. Can you have, I know tomorrow’s your shirt.

00:12:26:14 –> 00:12:29:01
Can you look at my, well, was it your pinky toe?

00:12:29:04 –> 00:12:29:22
Oh my big,

00:12:30:01 –> 00:12:31:25
Big one. Big toe. So youre saying you look

00:12:31:25 –> 00:12:31:26
Like

00:12:32:04 –> 00:12:34:12
To, can you look at my toe right before we go to church?

00:12:34:20 –> 00:13:00:16
No, I didn’t actually go to the same church as him. So I just said, I knew his surgery days were Monday mornings. And I just said, Hey, is there, I know Monday’s are jam. And he, he replied back, dude, you have somebody canceled. I’m gonna have you gotta be here right now. ’cause he’s got gonna be in his, you know, scrubs or whatever. So anyway, I went there X-rayed. He goes, yeah, you know, good news and bad news. And I’m like, okay. He says, bad news, it’s shattered in a bunch of pieces. It’s just your big toes just, just,

00:13:00:19 –> 00:13:02:05
You need it shatter. It’s like, it’s like

00:13:02:09 –> 00:13:41:25
The good news. He says they’re all together and, and I, even if I did surgery, there’s no big pieces to put the pin to. They’re just all in there. So you just gotta wear this boot and don’t, don’t move it or you’re gonna have problems and, oh. So anyway, so I had 60 days with the sheep hunt that I killed my big doll. That was the hunt. And, and I had cameras, I had to be running in Nevada and pull those down before I left. Right. Because that was, I think the first year they made you pull ’em down by July 31st. So anyway, three weeks later or something, I threw the walking boot away because it’s just, you can’t hike in that thing anyway, so that’s

00:13:41:25 –> 00:13:42:05
Rough.

00:13:42:11 –> 00:13:46:13
It was bad. It was a, it was a long recovery. My toe still doesn’t touch the floor.

00:13:47:01 –> 00:13:47:07
Wow.

00:13:47:28 –> 00:13:52:12
I’m just kind of up in an upward position. So my second longest toe now is my

00:13:52:21 –> 00:13:53:08
Main toe

00:13:53:13 –> 00:14:07:07
Main. It’s got cow on the end. And I know I’m telling you guys all more information need to know, but it gets very tender at times through the year because it gets overused during hunting season. There we go. Moving on. Jason, I think why you brought this up to me is you had a similar experience this

00:14:07:07 –> 00:14:12:24
Week. Well I did. I I had a similar experience. It had nothing to do with my feet, but my thumb. Yes. That’s

00:14:12:24 –> 00:14:15:00
What I mean. Just a just a getting old moment

00:14:15:20 –> 00:14:19:20
Man. Well, yeah, yeah. This story is just painful

00:14:19:25 –> 00:14:20:26
Just to hear it. Yeah,

00:14:21:04 –> 00:14:29:10
I can’t imagine real. So I’m out there with my dog and my dog is, it’s like a Jack Russell, it’s like a terrier mix with a pit bull probably. We don’t know. Isn’t a pit

00:14:29:14 –> 00:14:30:12
Pit bull a terrier too?

00:14:30:25 –> 00:15:00:16
Well double. So let’s, let’s call ter call it a double terrier. It’s Jack Russell. It’s got the white bobtail tons of energy. Right. But it’s built boxy and, and got a lock jaw. It like, you can’t believe I can swing the dog around when she’s gr locked onto a little rubber toy. I can swing her around, I can up over my head back on the ground. Very aggressive. So anyway, and she hates it when I grab, like I, I’ll grab her around the neck and her eyes cover her eyes and then she’ll loosen a little grip and I’ll pull it out. Right. That’s

00:15:00:16 –> 00:15:06:12
The game. This game you’re playing like out her eyes. And then she, she lets tie playing this with the pit bull you’re playing game

00:15:06:12 –> 00:15:07:04
The pit bull. Okay.

00:15:07:07 –> 00:15:09:20
Alright. Throwing her in the air. Yeah,

00:15:09:20 –> 00:16:14:28
Just throwing her around. Right. And, and before she’s latched onto my fingers before and she, he’s drawn blood before, but I’m thinking, I don’t need a pair of leather gloves. You should always have leather gloves with this dog. Super nice. Would never bite anybody. So I, I pull it out of her mouth and then she’s sitting there and she’s on her haunches looking up and I bring it right down to her nose and jerk it away, right down to her nose, jerk it away. And I’m playing that whole game. Okay. See how it’s going. And so, you know, she only has to grab onto about four or five inches of it. And then she’s into my hand and I’m just, you know, of course kid dog can’t hurt me. No big deal. I’m faster than her. I’m crushing her, crushing her, crushing her. All of a sudden she leaps full bore, full bore open mouth. And that great big old can tooth. Is that down low? Up front, down low off the sun. It’s a two inch right? Or an inch and a half. It comes perfectly between my thumb and my thumbnail and goes the entire length of the thumbnail. Lifts it up. I had to have, and down she goes. And I am crushed. Okay. Remember when you get slivers as a little kid?

00:16:15:05 –> 00:16:16:02
I, I know. Yeah.

00:16:16:06 –> 00:17:06:22
Just a sliver brings you to your knees. Okay. Under your thumbnail. This was a full tooth. Full tooth. I walk in and I had to go, Jana look. And it’s just, and I touched the thumb, I touched the nail and it gushes blood all the way around it. Oh. And she’s like, oh, and she’s a nurse. She’s like, that’s bad. That’s bad. And it was, it was so bad. So anyway, I took a LOR tab, I may or may not have found in the cupboard, and I went to bed and went straight to bed. Throbbing, counting my heartbeat all night long today. Okay. How many days later? Still bandaged. This morning we took it off. I touched the nail out comes clear and blood mixed all the way around the nail. And I’m like, she’s like, yeah, we’re gonna probably have to go have that removed. Anyway, I, I’m not mad enough to pull it off. I’m not mad enough. Pull it off. I think it’s still attached to

00:17:06:22 –> 00:17:11:26
The quick want. It’s one to pay the full anesthesia bill for them to put you completely out. Well, just put me

00:17:11:26 –> 00:17:35:06
Out. Lay me out. I mean, I’m a guy that when he was, when I, when I give blood, like I’m all but out, I get white. I’ve passed out. I mean, I’m that guy. I kill stuff, gut stuff, whatever. You give me a shot, I’ve got a problem. You, you draw blood, I’ve got a problem. And if you lift my fingernail off the bed, I’ve got big problems. So anyway, as we get older, bro, and it, here it is. Here we are. You know,

00:17:35:29 –> 00:17:42:00
And it’s harder to heal. I mean, geez, the injuries I, we don’t need to go any for that. That’s for another podcast. Well we

00:17:42:01 –> 00:17:44:24
Need to talk guys are kidney stones or give us something else.

00:17:45:11 –> 00:17:49:20
Devin, probably Chris in their thirties. They’re all like, what are these guys freaking talking about?

00:17:50:08 –> 00:17:50:29
Give us something

00:17:51:06 –> 00:17:55:02
I can’t throw anymore. I threw a rock the other day into a pond. No

00:17:55:02 –> 00:17:56:12
Really shoulder problems.

00:17:56:13 –> 00:17:57:26
Yeah. Too much baseball or

00:17:58:02 –> 00:18:01:01
All them rock eggs from when I was from four months old. Outta your fridge.

00:18:01:10 –> 00:18:06:08
Their eggs. Yeah, we were throwing those eggs. Why was throwing like 10 yards farther than me? Luckily

00:18:06:08 –> 00:18:08:10
They didn’t go backwards. Your guys’ age?

00:18:10:12 –> 00:18:12:18
Yeah. No, my mom our age when I was like,

00:18:13:17 –> 00:18:14:05
How old is that wife?

00:18:14:05 –> 00:18:15:01
I was 13. 13.

00:18:15:12 –> 00:18:31:16
13. She got a bow at a garage sale thing was like, it was like 1992 pro line. Is that like a c C like 70 pounds. I had some arrows that were my grandpa’s and just stuff mixed together. It was like it, I mean it that has to be part, part of it. Part of my shoulder. Yeah.

00:18:31:19 –> 00:18:54:24
Well I threw my kid out. We’d play dodge ball with those little tiny, you know, like a little leather ball. And Colton, he’d loved this game and I loved it as a dad. I could sit there and just pelt him. Pelt him or try, right? Yeah. He’s running back and forth. I threw my arm out forever. I mean thousands of those. He would love the game. I love the game. He loved the game. We, we were bonding. Lemme give you well son, I’m crushing him. I’m crushing him. He’s loving it.

00:18:54:26 –> 00:19:11:12
Oh, I’d do that with my kids. St Stand at the top of the stairs and they’re the bottom and it’s like you’re playing deer hunter and I’m the hunter and you kids go, you know, go from one room to the other, the ball on the stairs while I try to hit you with the ball, you know, from the top of the stairs down Nerf balls. I’m not throwing baseballs. No, it reminds me of that.

00:19:12:22 –> 00:19:14:02
So Wyatt, I know you go ahead.

00:19:14:06 –> 00:19:18:18
I was just gonna say not near as old as you guys, but I am a little sore from a wiffle ball game this last, whoa.

00:19:19:14 –> 00:19:30:17
You had a and yeah, I heard you come in talking about that. But then, and you reminisce, was it you or Archibald about somebody’s dad when your kids got really mad for burning? Yep. My buddy burning holes in the lawn. Buddy

00:19:30:22 –> 00:19:39:01
Judd’s dad playing whiffle ball at Judd’s house and his dad was gone for a couple days and I mean there was like four or five of us all day. All you know, weeks since summer

00:19:40:15 –> 00:19:41:17
Burned to four, four or

00:19:41:17 –> 00:19:45:05
Five holes in his yard. It probably still doesn’t grow right to this day. But

00:19:45:19 –> 00:19:50:22
You had a whiff ball game this weekend, huh? I back in the old Jew, a high reunion tour. Oh no,

00:19:50:23 –> 00:19:54:05
No. I was actually in Gunnison with the, the girlfriend and her family there, so,

00:19:54:07 –> 00:20:07:14
Oh well that’s not, but you had to, did you take a bunch of IB ibuprofen beforehand? You can’t show yourself halfway through a game that you’re getting sore. No, I, with the potential in-laws and just tough it off girlfriend.

00:20:07:19 –> 00:20:15:20
It came home. Oh come on. Little icy hot on the way home. He grabbed, opened the glove box. We all have it to Bronson, Tums and Advil and toilet paper. I’m

00:20:15:20 –> 00:20:16:25
Getting to the point in my life where I might

00:20:17:04 –> 00:20:18:12
Have to start that Tom’s

00:20:18:12 –> 00:20:20:13
Advil and toilet paper and you can do anything. I might

00:20:20:13 –> 00:20:21:13
Have to learn from you old guys.

00:20:21:29 –> 00:20:24:19
I used the toilet paper. I had to go down to Okay Carter.

00:20:24:27 –> 00:20:25:06
Whoa.

00:20:25:15 –> 00:20:48:04
Well I had to stop. Yeah. As you know, yesterday I just met, did a smash and grab down to California and back at a little part to deliver down there. And Okay, I didn’t know you were supposed to wear masks in California anywhere outside your vehicle. I didn’t know that. There’s no restrooms. There’s no restrooms and you’re not going through a drive through and getting food without a mask on. It was hard on the guy. And what happened? Oh, I mean, I’m just saying, I, I got into the

00:20:48:04 –> 00:20:49:02
GLO box. He was thrown

00:20:49:02 –> 00:20:50:02
Out a hair salon the other day

00:20:50:05 –> 00:20:57:04
Was had to wear a mask. I was, I walk in there and she’s like, where’s your mask? I’m like, I don’t have one. She’s like, why are you here? I said, well I checked in online, you know, and I’m

00:20:57:04 –> 00:20:57:26
Getting a haircut. Yeah.

00:20:57:26 –> 00:21:02:17
She’s like, you can’t be in here without a mask. So I left, went to the same haircut, you know, great clip clips. Did they

00:21:02:17 –> 00:21:03:01
Have your credit card on

00:21:03:08 –> 00:21:05:19
Down? And they were like, come on in. I was just fine.

00:21:06:01 –> 00:21:10:17
Did they have your credit card on file or anything like that? Run your card. Ah, he loses his deposit.

00:21:10:20 –> 00:21:11:08
No. No.

00:21:11:15 –> 00:21:16:20
Alright, let’s talk about something else. We wrap up. Chris, do you ever get sore riding horses?

00:21:17:00 –> 00:21:17:22
Yeah, I do.

00:21:18:12 –> 00:21:19:07
I mean, I get off a horse,

00:21:20:09 –> 00:21:29:23
Yes and no. It depends on what I’m doing. If I’m just riding on the trail, no. Yeah, if I, but if I’m like loping circles and I do that for an hour. Yeah, back muscles get sore. Yeah.

00:21:31:03 –> 00:21:31:17
Well I

00:21:31:17 –> 00:21:36:18
Don’t even know what loping circles means, but I can picture what I think it means. But

00:21:37:05 –> 00:21:39:02
Going fast on the horse, I went on

00:21:39:02 –> 00:21:43:01
That, we went on that horse ride this last year in New Mexico and

00:21:44:25 –> 00:21:45:14
Yeah, well you thought,

00:21:46:13 –> 00:21:56:05
I thought I gave birth to a 10 pound baby. Just gonna say it out loud. It was rough Chris. I’m not gonna lie. Gave them all due respect for horse riding. You

00:21:56:05 –> 00:22:06:05
Just don’t use certain muscles. I rode ’em last year on the sheep punting. No, you just don’t use those muscles except for riding a horse or the, the way you sit, ride bow leg and all that

00:22:06:17 –> 00:23:15:17
And you’re not acting like a man after you get done either. You’re just like, yep, it kicked my butt. Alright. Arizona’s also included, we covered sheep, deer, bison, both. They down there, they have desert sheep, Rocky mountain, big horns as well as mule and Ku deer. We covered it all. They’re in this June July publication. So anyway, deadline to apply there is June 9th. We’re kind of excited. This is a big state, you know, your, your hunting license is good for 365 days. So some of you may have a valid hunting license, not have to buy it during this application period. And then some, some of you, if you bought it last year at this time for, for applying for deer, you were good through the elk, which already happened back in February, elk and antelope, then you’d go ahead and apply for sheep and deer and, and have to buy that hunting license now. So anyway, we’re super excited about that. It’s a big state for us. We’re huge fans of applying in Arizona. We’ve killed some animals down there, killed a desert sheep and super lucky there. Beat the odds. We did get, you know, it’s non-residents, 10% of the total. So you know, they give a few more than 28 does over there in California.

00:23:15:17 –> 00:24:09:28
No. Yeah, yeah. It, it’s one also that has a split application period. So if you applied for elk or antelope earlier, you may have still a valid license. But if you, you had one on the deadline, valid on the deadline day back in February and it’s since expired, just make sure that you buy one. It’s obviously then valid on the deadline day, which is June 9th this year and you’re good to go. That’s all that matters. If it’s valid on June 9th, go ahead and apply. But you need to check your license because their system hasn’t been smart enough to say you’re all good. Your license is good to go. It just pulls in a license number that may expire. It may be valid May 6th the day today, but it might expire be before now and it’ll still let you apply that. That’s a scary thing about Arizona. Their system’s not really good about knowing if you’re license or alerting you, I should say that it’s gonna expire before the deadline. Just

00:24:09:28 –> 00:25:05:29
Make sure it’s valid on June 9th. If it’s valid on June until June 8th, you’ve got a problem. If it’s valid on June 10th, you’re okay. So that’s right. Just make sure it’s valid. The, the, the application deadline. Like Bronson’s saying as far as youth, you can apply these kids, you know, you can grab that hunting license before they turn 18 if you want. And it’s good even if they’re 18. So if you pre-bought it and it’s good for a 365 days and if that carries them through the next application period and it’s valid on that dead deadline date, it’s valid. A valid license is a valid license. And so yeah, so $160 for the non-resident hunting license and then $5 Bronson, you and I bought our kids and took ’em Turkey hunting. So anyway, $5 for, for the hunting license and then, and then of course you got the $15 application fee. So anyway, they do have that June 25th deadline to update your credit cards. That means that they’re gonna start hitting cards the day after, generally speaking.

00:25:06:01 –> 00:25:12:19
June 26th. Yeah, usually eight or nine in the morning the next day. That’s pretty much what they’re gonna, that’s what they’ve been doing. They’re

00:25:12:19 –> 00:25:26:16
Gonna mail out the tags, they’re saying by July 31st, but just so you know, we’ll usually get credit card hits and then shortly thereafter it seems like about seven to 10 days they’ll publish the results. So anyway. Yeah. Awesome. Let’s talk

00:25:26:16 –> 00:25:46:19
About deer options. What are some options? What’s everybody doing? Cos are mul there. Let’s start there. Pretty sure we got or room full of mul deer hunters. Nothing against coups. We’ve, we’ve been on coose hunt standing there and my boy had one. Jason, you drew one after you drew your first, first go round on a mul deer, you drew one six down six or eight years ago. I

00:25:46:19 –> 00:25:48:06
Wasted a, a tag. Yep.

00:25:49:25 –> 00:25:49:29
I

00:25:50:15 –> 00:25:52:25
Wasted a good mul deer tag on a gray ghost.

00:25:54:00 –> 00:25:57:20
Well, I’m just saying you could go either way. Deer points or deer points, right. Those

00:25:57:26 –> 00:26:20:22
Cos deer are awesome and they are point, they are points, deer points or deer points. You can use ’em either or. I did an early season, that particular year it was wet and there was just, you know, there was a lot of pine nuts out there and they just didn’t have a reason to leave the trees and you know, I wanna blame it on that. Having said that, you kind of get out of it what you put into it. And I probably didn’t put the effort that I would’ve say I had an Arizona stripped deer tag for, for mulder. You know what I mean? Let’s just

00:26:20:22 –> 00:26:21:25
Be honest. That’s probably a safe assumption.

00:26:22:21 –> 00:26:35:08
So, so anyway, do you have those options? You know, if you have 13, 14 points, you can get one of those late December hunts for COOs deer, what an incredible opportunity. They’re starting to rut, move around kind of vulnerable that timeframe.

00:26:35:26 –> 00:27:17:26
Well, and speaking of that point range, 12 to 14 points. That’s another range that you might, if, if you’re realistically looking, looking, getting drawn, A lot of people think of the strip or the late kibab or 12 B hunts and of course any meal deer hunter, that’s your dream, right? But to be realistic, you might be looking at the early kibab hunts, just like a late season coups or the early season kibab hunts. If you’ve got that 12 to 14 point range, they’ve been having really good hunts. Don’t you remember in our former life, but when we were pups like these guys, they were given 800 to a thousand early Chiba tags, you remember? Oh yeah. And now they’re down to like what, 4, 4 54 25? Yeah, I’m going totally from memory under 500. I think it’s around four 50.

00:27:17:26 –> 00:27:21:02
Well your memory’s pretty darn close. We’re sitting at four 50. Yeah,

00:27:21:17 –> 00:27:31:07
But I mean that’s half, I mean half of, and I wanna say only maybe 10 years ago. Is that roughly? Yeah, 10 to 12. Not a terrible, it’s not, I’m, I’d have to review,

00:27:31:11 –> 00:27:32:22
I’d have to review some regulations.

00:27:32:26 –> 00:27:34:04
Well, I’m not, I’ll be right

00:27:34:04 –> 00:27:34:07
Back.

00:27:34:25 –> 00:28:04:19
I’m not saying I’m not going back to 1975 days. I’m just do that. I’m just saying in in our recent times, in our lifetime, in our recent lifetime, it wasn’t that high 10, 12 years ago. What I’m trying to say is the kaaba hunts have gotten, they’re pretty good right now. They’re, it’s thick trees. It’s thick timber. It may not fit every hunting style. You’re still wanting to hope for some weather to get the deer drifting down a little bit lower country. But they’ve killed some great bucks the last few years. They’re not as easy. It is their more opportunity hunt per se se But chive

00:28:04:27 –> 00:28:20:19
Chi’s had a bump in quality. I mean it is something we always think of. 13 B 13 a and you should 13 B 13 a go there if you can. But these, these chibe hunts like you’re talking about, they’ve had a bump in quality. It’s, it’s pretty darn good. Genetics are some of the best in the world chart. Yeah,

00:28:20:19 –> 00:28:21:01
They’re,

00:28:21:04 –> 00:28:50:17
So anyway, you’ve got those opportunities and then of course we covered three a, three C and a few others. The early hunts, like you’re saying in that, in that 1314 point tier, definitely be looking at some of those early hunts, you know, like you were talking about. And then of course we list the point tiers needed in the other units and, and for the special tags, hey you’re gonna have to pretty much have max or or a very small random chance. Every unit in the state has an opportunity for a random tag. Yeah. To be able to be drawn.

00:28:50:24 –> 00:29:37:16
Yeah. One tag goes to an non-resident, it little random, but from two and up there’ll be at least 1 50, 50, 50 50 split. So you start looking at units like the strip with six tags or seven tags, there’s gonna be only three max point tags. And that’s really increase the weight that people are gonna get out of the way so to speak and get burn their points in Arizona when you’re only burning three tags or so off the top for non-resident max point holders and 13 B man a hundred, a hundred roughly a hundred people left. That’s a slow go. So may consider some of the late 12 B 12 a’s hunts if, depending on where you’re in age, if you’re content, you got a good schedule going this year. Yeah. Swing for the fence moisture should be off the charts. This year’s been been a great winter in spring. Yeah.

00:29:37:16 –> 00:29:53:28
Pretty incredible. And remember we get up to 10% of the tags and, and so, but where there’s so many non-residents that apply that we usually meet our quota. So that’s kind of, you know, something just a, just a small little something. Doesn’t, doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed those tags, but you could draw tag

00:29:53:28 –> 00:29:55:05
We get on the best units. Yeah, yeah.

00:29:55:05 –> 00:30:21:19
There’s one tag. It’ll go random. So anyway, we also covered, you know, somebody, somebody emailed me and says, anyways, I must say that a lot and I didn’t think I did. I’ve been noticing it in this podcast. You become, you become a little self-aware or conscientious or whatever when people are critical of you. So whoever said that, yep, I’m thinking about it. So I’m gonna try not to say it as much. I’m still gonna drink monster.

00:30:22:01 –> 00:30:22:16
Anyways.

00:30:23:15 –> 00:30:40:28
Anyway. Some incredible sheep. Were co were harvested. We, we, you know, of course we have the photos stories in our met in our publication. What a, what a, you know, great year it was sheep are just doing incredible in Arizona. They feel, it feels like there’s one 70 rams and almost every unit brought some,

00:30:41:01 –> 00:30:42:01
It feels that way. Yeah.

00:30:42:23 –> 00:30:58:05
So for sure we did list all the units available to non-residents. We didn’t list ’em all. Just the ones that are available to non-residents and the ones that are available to us have two or more tags as a tag quota. The one tags, those are for you residents only. So we didn’t cover those,

00:30:58:13 –> 00:31:43:24
But I still think it was roughly like 35, if I remember right. It’s a big number of units counting, counting all sheep units, anything two or above. They’re pretty, pretty notorious in Arizona for splitting units and splitting seasons. You don’t see anything like maybe Nevada or even Utah’s gotten, Utah’s gotten double digit tags going to this year on a unit. They don’t really do that in Arizona. Yeah, they’ll split seasons or they’ll add, you know, split units, you know, different highways just to distribute a hundreds, I think roughly 115 or 20 total sheep tags in the state. And we can draw up to 10% of the statewide total on those, or no more than what? 50% in any hunt code in any, so there’s four tags in any unit non-residents could draw.

00:31:43:25 –> 00:31:44:11
And no more than two

00:31:44:13 –> 00:31:46:01
Up to two of those. Yep, that’s right. No

00:31:46:01 –> 00:32:04:01
More than two periods. So anyway, anyway, I’m telling you, I’m sorry to all you listeners, I apologize. All right. Need a little clicker. I’m done. Are we good? Do we need to talk some more stuff in about this Bronson, what other little neat facts can we pull out anything? I

00:32:04:01 –> 00:33:25:17
Don’t know. It’s all in the magazine. I mean, you, you, you might, some of you listeners that aren’t members of the magazine might wish we’d go into really great depth name and unit by unit and capabilities and things like that. But it’s in the magazine and for the members of our service that get the magazine, they, that’s all in there. Just wanted to mainly, we usually do an overview and a hit, hit the highlights dear just period, dear period. And sheep are highlights of Arizona, period, all across the board, great opportunities. If you’re doing Arizona at all, you’re gonna make the commitment to buy $160 non-res license. Do all the species you’re thinking about. If you did elk, obviously you’re just gonna add the $15 sheep and deer application. Now it’s not a state. If you’re an ultimate trophy hunter that you can plan on hunting often it, it isn’t. But if you, you have to get a little bit creative, things like that, that we’ve talked about before. Maybe go on a maybe less than desirable season for either COOs deer or mule deer just to go hunt. But to the extent possible, do it. Be realistic. Max points for sheep’s 31, max points for deer’s 23. So if you’re far from that and not near approaching that, you, you might be realistic about where you’re sitting. And if it’s a good year, it’s been a great moisture year down there, consider using your points somehow.

00:33:27:18 –> 00:33:32:17
I agree. You guys, you know, Wyatt, you’re kind of quiet. So I’ve got a couple things for you.

00:33:33:16 –> 00:33:36:07
I’m gonna go with the Kevin call theory here and what’s

00:33:36:07 –> 00:33:36:25
That? What’s that?

00:33:37:12 –> 00:33:41:06
Just not to disclose any of my personal life on it. Too late podcast anymore late.

00:33:41:06 –> 00:33:41:18
It’s too late.

00:33:41:26 –> 00:33:44:29
Yeah, I just gotta thinking about that email and there’s some depth there. So

00:33:45:04 –> 00:34:11:02
There was some valid points. Yeah. Well there’s a couple questions and we some follow up. I’m just teasing actually. You’ve spent some time on the Kaibab and so I was just gonna, you know, you, you guys have spent some time, you know, hunting the west and whatnot. I’m just gonna kind of get your take, you know, as far as that, of course you’ve been affiliated with some incredible animals and, and the guides that are hunting those areas and whatnot. So just give us, give us a little quick five minutes and your take. Well

00:34:11:02 –> 00:34:34:28
Just, you know, the last couple years the kay BA has been coming on pretty strong. They’ve taken, you know, governor tag Kyle Buck outta there if you know, multiple that type of deer, even on those earlier hunts, you know, they, they took that one a couple years ago. Big velvet deer up on top. I was there scouting it a few years ago. Was finding some pretty big deer as well. You know, Archibald drew it a few years ago and he hunted some pretty nice bucks with a bow on that earlier archery hunt.

00:34:34:29 –> 00:34:35:19
No shizz

00:34:35:19 –> 00:34:37:10
Really, despite that injury

00:34:37:21 –> 00:34:38:26
Laden shoulder we’ve

00:34:38:26 –> 00:34:39:18
Heard about. I hunted the,

00:34:40:13 –> 00:34:43:04
A cross bow permit. Come on, be honest. We heard,

00:34:43:07 –> 00:34:45:07
We heard about that shoulder in your youth. A

00:34:45:11 –> 00:34:54:02
It was a, that was one of, I ate that tag. That was one of the roughest tons of my life. Was it, it rained straight, straight for six days. It would let up. I’d go out. Just

00:34:54:04 –> 00:34:55:01
Crush your Yeah, it

00:34:55:01 –> 00:35:03:02
Was crazy. It felt like I was in Washington state, just mushrooms growing everywhere. My tent was leaking. Yeah. It was a rough six days. Well,

00:35:03:04 –> 00:35:04:04
A lot. No

00:35:04:04 –> 00:35:07:05
Wonder you’ve been really quiet during this whole Arizona deer discussion. It,

00:35:07:08 –> 00:35:12:11
But I hunted it the year before with a friend and we had a great time. I mean, archery hunt. Yeah. I mean it was, it was fun. We just

00:35:12:13 –> 00:35:14:13
Drive around in glass. Yeah, that’s lots of

00:35:14:13 –> 00:35:18:28
Access. That’s what you can do. You’re on the, you know, the top of the kibab plateau there. Thick trees and Yeah.

00:35:19:13 –> 00:35:21:29
And they’ve got the burn now. Yeah. That’s kind of cleared off a lot of country,

00:35:22:21 –> 00:35:26:22
You know, glass, glass, the burn drive around and hope something happens. Or sit water.

00:35:27:02 –> 00:35:31:01
Yeah. And if it’s raining like Washington, you’re not gonna be sitting on a lot

00:35:31:01 –> 00:35:33:24
Of guys around cameras and the rain comes and monsters

00:35:33:24 –> 00:35:34:18
Changes your plans

00:35:35:02 –> 00:35:42:07
And it’s thick. You’re not gonna, you know, unless you you hunt mid-level or low, you’re not gonna be glassing. Yeah, yeah. So it’s a, it’s a cool place though.

00:35:42:13 –> 00:35:46:13
But it does seem, you know, some good deer have been coming off on the bow hunt every year too. The last few years for sure.

00:35:47:25 –> 00:36:27:08
Well, yeah, but when you put 450 people out there Yeah, somebody they’re gonna kill, somebody’s gonna kill. And we got one in our publication. What a great job they did. They actually knew about the deer went and made it happen and they stuck to it. And I think that’s one common theme we’re seeing with guys that are consistent is when you read these stories, it might’ve seemed easy, but if you really read it and think about it, they stuck after him. Stuck after him, stuck after him. Stuck after him. Seen him jumped out and made it happen. Like Yeah. Overall was the hunt easy? Was it easy to kill that deer? I mean, the end result, you could have said that was a pretty, pretty easy hunt or a gift, but the, you guys are proud about the arrowhead. Okay. Anyway, they’re drinking arrowhead. They’re

00:36:27:25 –> 00:36:32:26
Who is, don’t throw up in your mouth, he just grabbed whatever is wet. Devin. No, it’s better

00:36:32:26 –> 00:36:53:11
Than Nestle. Anyway. I know he’s gonna get cancer. He doesn’t even know yet. So, so anyway, but but I think the common theme of of some of these animals are, are guys are hitting it hard and, and going back to that specific deer going back, back, back when really they could have just said, all right, he is done, he is been bumped or whatever and just ignored the deer and went to all new country. Is

00:36:53:11 –> 00:36:54:07
That the cover buck you’re

00:36:54:07 –> 00:36:57:26
Talking about? No, it’s one that the velvet buck that’s inside. It’s got the big, big giant igar.

00:36:59:09 –> 00:37:01:00
So fork and igar on the left.

00:37:01:00 –> 00:37:07:16
Yeah. Special deer. Cool. So anyway, those guys are hard hunters. So anyway, we appreciate them and, and submitting the story, some awesome

00:37:07:16 –> 00:37:25:22
Deer stories and sheep stories and everything. It’s jam packed. It’s a great issue. It feels like a little more stories than normal and it probably is John just simply because of we’re only covering two states versus three, maybe not maybe more year stories than, than in years past. Yeah, lots of great

00:37:26:02 –> 00:37:26:19
Deer stories.

00:37:26:19 –> 00:37:40:07
Yeah. Yeah, it’s awesome. Well it was a great year. Moisture was awesome last year and it’s shaping up to be similar this year. You don’t often get that on the strip and sky ba as two back to backers and it’s looking like, you know, all indications point to that.

00:37:42:01 –> 00:37:43:24
So anyway, let you off. Easy. We

00:37:44:08 –> 00:37:44:25
Well thank you.

00:37:45:28 –> 00:37:46:05
Do

00:37:46:05 –> 00:37:49:29
You have anything else you want add you’ve, you guys have been hunting all over that state?

00:37:50:27 –> 00:37:52:26
Well, I don’t really have much. No.

00:37:53:18 –> 00:37:56:29
Nothing else. You’ve taking their personal application strategy.

00:37:57:28 –> 00:37:59:20
Shoot for the stars in Arizona.

00:38:00:27 –> 00:38:03:22
He’s, he’s gonna be, he’s going for hitting dingers like wiffle ball

00:38:03:22 –> 00:38:06:17
Shoot, shoot for the stars. Hope for something to happen next

00:38:06:17 –> 00:38:18:16
Day. We’ve talked about these two once in a while and kind of a common theme comes up is they’re just, they’re they’re, they’re scared to draw too many tags and we’ve gotta change that. We’ve gotta, well we’ve gotta inflict

00:38:18:16 –> 00:38:19:16
Case in point our

00:38:19:22 –> 00:38:21:20
Opinions and preferences upon them.

00:38:22:26 –> 00:38:29:06
Case in point is Nevada, how long is the application period? Two months, I wanna say like two months.

00:38:29:08 –> 00:38:34:28
Well, let’s talk, let’s say first, let’s say March-ish through May 4th. Okay.

00:38:36:18 –> 00:38:38:08
When did you get your apps in? What

00:38:38:25 –> 00:38:39:18
The very last day.

00:38:42:02 –> 00:38:43:13
Scared crap us to do it.

00:38:43:22 –> 00:38:48:08
But he’s sticking with his theory and theme of the year, which remind our listeners what is that? I’ve

00:38:48:08 –> 00:38:51:18
Always just been a last day guy. Been to have it on top of the file says as

00:38:51:18 –> 00:38:52:10
Long as I’ve known him.

00:38:52:11 –> 00:38:55:08
And how many, how many tags have you drawn doing that that way?

00:38:55:21 –> 00:38:57:13
Oh, I haven’t drawn one lucky tag

00:38:57:15 –> 00:39:01:11
Yet. There you go. Well, maybe it’s time to change,

00:39:01:23 –> 00:39:07:20
But you did tell me the other day, you know, why he, he does our license applications. He said, I’m, I’m gonna be the last guy, you know,

00:39:07:26 –> 00:39:09:02
The very last I’d

00:39:09:02 –> 00:39:13:19
Like to have all our guys done taken care of. And then I go in, that’s just, oh, that’s how we,

00:39:14:10 –> 00:39:14:25
You walk

00:39:14:25 –> 00:39:31:13
In. So it’s kind of on principle. He is like, nope, I can’t even think about the, my personal wellbeing and tell the needs of my clients and our clients as a whole at Epic Outdoors are in and their services are met. Then if there’s time remaining, I’ll get my app in. But if not, I’ll just miss Nevada for you. I always,

00:39:31:17 –> 00:39:35:29
And I always chalked it up to apathy, just kind of apathetic and, and maybe either

00:39:35:29 –> 00:39:37:06
That or he is a procrastinator.

00:39:37:19 –> 00:39:46:11
Well I don’t even wanna say that I was gonna go with the P word, but I wasn’t gonna say that. But it’s very controlled. Like it, this is a very decisive

00:39:46:26 –> 00:39:47:19
What’s your, what’s your

00:39:47:19 –> 00:39:48:24
Theme? Nothing impulse. What’s

00:39:48:24 –> 00:39:51:18
Your, what do you mean your theme? Like our common. Just that we applied

00:39:51:18 –> 00:39:55:18
Late. I just think it, I think you guys Okay, alright. I’m gonna say it know

00:39:55:18 –> 00:40:06:14
Why it’s go theme. What I meant earlier was his theme back to Utah, which, hey, we’re gonna find out any day if that paid off here with credit cards that be, but his, his theme with there is be the last one on top of the pile.

00:40:06:14 –> 00:40:19:28
Okay. There’s another, there’s a part A to that. And I’m gonna apply for something that’s just outta reach. So I feel really good if I get it. But I’m scared to draw and use all my points that I’ve gained since I was a kid. Huh? Am I wrong? Well, am

00:40:19:28 –> 00:40:25:10
I wrong? It is an 18 point. He’s pushing the chips to the middle of the table for Utah. It’s a big

00:40:25:22 –> 00:40:49:17
Times that by 10 states. That’s what I’m, that’s where I’m going with this. Bronson, you and I, we just throw ’em in there and hey, let’s just see how it happens. Whatever sticks, whatever. Stick sticks. And these guys are much more deliberate. They’re much more deliberate and vehicle purchases, tire purchases, they’re just, I don’t know. Anyway. And it not that, not that everybody should do it. Adam and I do, but it’s the right way.

00:40:52:26 –> 00:40:54:04
Spontaneous truck purchases.

00:40:54:24 –> 00:40:56:17
I’ll, don’t be scared. This, I

00:40:56:17 –> 00:41:08:04
Will say this though, about Arizona. Take a little extra time because there is no, there’s no backing out. Plug and playing swapping units. We, how many times did we swap units in Nevada? Huh? I don’t know how many.

00:41:08:07 –> 00:41:09:22
10 or 10 or 12. Three per

00:41:09:22 –> 00:41:10:11
Hit at least.

00:41:10:13 –> 00:41:39:00
Yeah. But there’s, but that’s because we applied early. We had Covid hit mid-March and it kind of, we got a, had a magazine done and we’re like, oh remember we crushed out like Colorado, Nevada, Montana, moose, sheep. And I mean I, I kept having to remember if I’d applied for some of them and go check my receipt. ’cause it’d been so long ago since I was that this year or last year? Because we applied clear back in March for stuff that’s due. May 1st. Yeah. So anyway, we’re all in and that What do you got? How many

00:41:39:00 –> 00:41:40:00
Tags did you draw last year?

00:41:40:24 –> 00:41:43:29
I didn’t draw. No, I drew Colorado and Wyoming. Two. Yeah, two.

00:41:44:00 –> 00:41:45:08
Okay. Okay. I’m,

00:41:45:14 –> 00:41:48:05
I’m, I’m in for a unit. Three points over max last

00:41:48:05 –> 00:41:50:00
Year. Colorado did, he did it

00:41:50:07 –> 00:41:51:04
Adam one.

00:41:51:06 –> 00:41:53:05
Well he’s, he did it. You gotta

00:41:53:05 –> 00:41:53:25
Start somewhere. Good

00:41:53:25 –> 00:41:56:00
Job. They’re breaking, they’re breaking the trend. I mean,

00:41:56:17 –> 00:41:56:24
Two

00:41:56:24 –> 00:41:59:26
Deer tags last year. That’s more than I’ve had in the last 10 years. Okay. And,

00:42:00:08 –> 00:42:04:18
And it’s true. And I ate six last year. I

00:42:04:24 –> 00:42:04:29
Ate

00:42:05:19 –> 00:42:09:24
Six of ’em. Made good on one or two, one

00:42:11:19 –> 00:42:13:00
Emphasis on fun. But just,

00:42:13:17 –> 00:42:17:11
I just would like to see you guys eating tags like we are and

00:42:18:02 –> 00:42:18:24
Make you feel better.

00:42:20:14 –> 00:42:21:10
Go out on a limb.

00:42:22:14 –> 00:42:27:02
Jason’s so concerned with this. What he actually helped you last year eat one of those tags in Colorado

00:42:27:05 –> 00:42:28:14
And he’s never let

00:42:28:15 –> 00:42:31:22
Me live it down. Am I right? Exactly. Alright.

00:42:32:00 –> 00:42:39:16
He’s, he’s like, I had four points. I did what Carter said and I failed. Now all the,

00:42:39:26 –> 00:42:41:22
But you failed right there along with me. That’s

00:42:41:22 –> 00:42:49:29
Right. That’s the one thing I can say. Yeah. Me and my wife, we both failed too. Yeah. And we followed each other home. Their tail between our legs. Yeah. Huh. Pretty much. Jason

00:42:49:29 –> 00:42:50:20
Always likes to

00:42:50:20 –> 00:42:52:26
Say, when you, when we get a monster out of the fridge,

00:42:52:26 –> 00:42:54:28
Nobody likes to drink alone. Gimme

00:42:54:29 –> 00:43:02:29
One. So nobody likes to eat tag soup alone. No. We all feel better when each other are doing the same kind of things we are. When you fail,

00:43:02:29 –> 00:43:12:02
You want it to be a team sport. I mean, that’s right. Hey, we lost as a team. We win as a team. We lose as a team. That’s right.

00:43:12:14 –> 00:43:14:29
I, I I resemble that comment.

00:43:15:16 –> 00:43:15:26
I agree.

00:43:17:01 –> 00:43:22:25
It’s kinda like when Adam and I went to Devon and Wyatt and being the father figures that we are,

00:43:23:12 –> 00:43:27:16
I don’t know where he guys, I do not where he is going with this. So just he’s on his own for a minute. But

00:43:27:20 –> 00:44:07:06
We were looking out for their best interest as well as the company wanting them to draw more tags than they can use. And we presented with them a little plan in Nevada. Okay. Okay. They both the gears were turning, I don’t know how fast they were turning and I could see it in their eyes. Neither of them looked at us in the eyes. Both of them looked down at the floor. Listen to what we have to say because they have to. And then they walked away and I looked at Adam ’em and I was like, they’re not even listening. I cannot believe it. This is free advice coming from guys that know, right? Like, we’ve been doing this, boys, let’s do, come on, come on, come on. Sure enough, everyone’s in there looking up his points. I’m like, wow, we might’ve got a bite.

00:44:07:27 –> 00:44:12:02
It was basically advice on how to, how to make their points go to zero again. Right, right, right,

00:44:12:02 –> 00:44:21:07
Right. Yes. Which is what we, what we do’s what we’re good at that, that we’re good at that. Devin comes in the next day. We know Devin totally spaced us off. Devin comes into the state and he goes, you know,

00:44:21:25 –> 00:44:22:06
I’ve been

00:44:22:06 –> 00:44:28:28
Thinking and I’m thinking, wow, what are you thinking about like Nestle water. I mean, where are you at? You know, Chris had an arrowhead. He is gonna get cancer. Where, where are we talking

00:44:28:28 –> 00:44:31:00
Chris? Before you f finish that thought, Chris.

00:44:32:29 –> 00:44:40:02
I just did a little reading on the back of my, you know, Arrowhead Water and it says Nestle Waters North America.

00:44:41:08 –> 00:44:41:17
Whoa.

00:44:42:14 –> 00:44:44:23
So arrowhead’s owned by Nestle. Whoa.

00:44:45:08 –> 00:44:45:15
So

00:44:45:15 –> 00:44:49:29
Basically they take your arrowhead water and they add a bunch of minerals to it to

00:44:50:03 –> 00:44:57:06
Make it taste dusty. Like it’s been in a cooler for, I dunno, two weeks, maybe it’s the same. No, it’s a little hazy. So

00:44:57:06 –> 00:45:01:28
This is the, this is the fresh, you know, out of the mountain, the pure stuff. Then the Nestle water you get has minerals.

00:45:01:28 –> 00:45:07:18
I wanna bring, I wanna bring something up. So I was, I used to work in a cheese factory up at school up at Utah State. Okay.

00:45:08:25 –> 00:45:09:05
Where

00:45:09:05 –> 00:45:21:20
This, when we would have cheese on the line, they would wrap it in a certain wrap. And then when that company’s order was done, they’d left the cheese on the line and we’d wrap it in a new wrap. Really? Yeah. I think that’s what they’re doing with the water.

00:45:21:25 –> 00:45:24:15
Oh, I, I’m following you. I’m picking up what you’re

00:45:24:15 –> 00:45:24:21
Feeling.

00:45:25:19 –> 00:45:27:26
I’m feeling regular human beings can taste the difference.

00:45:30:08 –> 00:45:37:27
I’m feeling like Arrowhead. It was assembly line. We wrap it with Nestle, we wrap it with Arrowhead. We give a different price breakdown and call it a day. So anyway, let’s

00:45:37:27 –> 00:45:59:26
Run this subject real fast though. We can’t leave the water. ’cause I have another addition. Some people may not know what we, what we’re talking about. We talked, we had a water challenge. Devin did go back a few podcasts ago. I don’t remember the name of it, Chris. But anyway, ne he nailed it. He claimed Nestle water was better than anything else on Earth. Cody tap water.

00:45:59:26 –> 00:46:02:06
Well, the, what we have in, in the office. Okay.

00:46:02:06 –> 00:46:30:15
Around between Arrowhead, Dasani, Nestle, and Tapwater. Okay. And he nailed all four. He was blind. It was a blind taste test. We’re gonna call it that. And it was, we all witnessed it. Chris has brought to light some evidence today that caused into question whether there’s really any difference because they’re made by the same company. But one thing I haven’t divulged till I, till right now live on this podcast, Devin, is that day. No, you got it right. So don’t, don’t go.

00:46:30:16 –> 00:46:32:24
I was gonna say, you got it right. This is some sick joke. But,

00:46:33:14 –> 00:46:57:12
But I took the empty Nestle bottle that day and I filled it the rest of the Arrowhead and Dasani and put it in there knowing you’d take it and you took it to your office and you drank it. And I never heard a complaint. And it was Arrow half Arrowhead and half Dasani. And he thought it was a placebo. He thought it’s in a Nestle bottle. This is Nestle water.

00:46:59:00 –> 00:47:05:24
I watched it. He watched it, watched it, and it happened. But I was, I wasn’t gonna bring it up. But since it’s been brought up

00:47:06:04 –> 00:47:07:00
That happened. It

00:47:07:00 –> 00:47:10:09
Did. If you drank, you, you

00:47:10:09 –> 00:47:14:22
Drank. Act like I have the scent of a coyote. Something. We are impressed. We

00:47:14:22 –> 00:47:19:23
Were, we were sure you were not gonna be, you’re gonna get maybe two outta the four, but nail

00:47:19:23 –> 00:47:24:17
Them. But like every magic trick, something could have happened that tipped you off. I don’t know. That’s

00:47:24:17 –> 00:47:29:06
Right. Or just luck. Random 25% drawing odds four times in a row.

00:47:30:05 –> 00:47:31:24
So, so, so, but from

00:47:31:24 –> 00:47:33:08
Now on you’re gonna check the seal every

00:47:33:08 –> 00:47:33:23
Time you

00:47:33:23 –> 00:47:34:11
Drink of water.

00:47:34:22 –> 00:47:43:20
Yeah. So back to the tag in Nevada. So then he comes in and says, I’ve been thinking, and at the end of the day, he didn’t take our, our, our advice. Bronson,

00:47:44:26 –> 00:47:46:05
How do you know? I know.

00:47:49:10 –> 00:47:53:13
So anyway, no big deal. I just want everybody to draw tags and, you know, but

00:47:53:13 –> 00:47:58:01
He’s pretty confident the way he’s applied in other states too. And,

00:47:58:22 –> 00:48:14:04
And it was very well thought out. Why he didn Yeah. Why he didn’t jump on it. It was, it was, it was more thought out than I, than I would’ve thought about myself. Like that meaning, meaning you thought about it way more. Gave it four hours. You gave it 24 hours. I give it, I slept off. I

00:48:14:04 –> 00:48:15:01
Give it 24 minutes.

00:48:15:08 –> 00:48:16:01
Oh, less enough.

00:48:16:20 –> 00:48:17:07
2.4.

00:48:17:20 –> 00:48:21:00
And then I look back on it and go, ah, I better pull that out.

00:48:21:02 –> 00:48:26:24
It’s hard. I, I love Nevada. I’ve hunted so many units there that I’m, I’m torn. So. Well

00:48:26:24 –> 00:48:27:14
You’re hoping that

00:48:27:24 –> 00:48:29:24
Colorado comes when it happens. I wanna have lots of time.

00:48:29:29 –> 00:48:35:10
And you’re hoping Colorado really comes through and you it better that’s when you had a three or four point buffer maybe. Yeah.

00:48:35:18 –> 00:48:36:05
Counting on that one.

00:48:36:11 –> 00:48:37:25
So hopefully that, that happens.

00:48:38:17 –> 00:48:39:14
Yep. I just

00:48:39:14 –> 00:48:44:20
Update on the moose hunt. I don’t know if we’ve talked about that before, but are you guys still going? Everything’s on.

00:48:45:05 –> 00:48:46:26
We’ve never brought that up really, have we?

00:48:46:29 –> 00:48:50:19
No, I think everything’s still a go right now. Just wait for this Covid, COVID.

00:48:50:21 –> 00:48:53:28
You got Devin and Wyatt who are headed to Alaska to hunt moose.

00:48:54:10 –> 00:49:00:02
We pushed our wheel onto them for that. Definitely bent their ear on that one. Hopeful. Have a great experience

00:49:00:20 –> 00:49:01:20
So they can get up there. And

00:49:02:14 –> 00:49:05:10
It’s opportunity I wouldn’t have taken, but, Hey, just

00:49:05:10 –> 00:49:05:16
Tea.

00:49:05:26 –> 00:49:06:14
I thought it was great.

00:49:07:14 –> 00:49:14:17
You know, we’re excited. Just hoping, you know, everything pans out and you know, we’re able to get up there with the covid and, and do, do some hunting Alaska stuff.

00:49:14:17 –> 00:49:16:13
Haven’t bought tags or Pretty shut down. Fair?

00:49:17:03 –> 00:49:18:20
No, no. Still, still waiting on that.

00:49:19:12 –> 00:49:20:29
Yeah. Smart move. So

00:49:21:09 –> 00:49:21:18
I’m pretty

00:49:21:18 –> 00:49:22:11
Confident. Yeah,

00:49:22:16 –> 00:49:35:13
I think, I think it’s looking good. That’s September, early September. I hope so. It is in the United States. I’d be a little more nervous if it was Canada. Just because it’s international. I mean, it’s another barrier. You know, you’re,

00:49:35:13 –> 00:49:41:00
Yeah. You guys are gonna be fine. You’re gonna go up there and quarantine for 14 days and you eat just fine. Yeah. So

00:49:41:25 –> 00:49:43:12
By the way, we’re gonna need 14 days off.

00:49:44:22 –> 00:49:44:29
You

00:49:45:01 –> 00:49:45:24
Got another 50

00:49:46:02 –> 00:49:48:28
Yeah. Than the other 15 for the hunt. So it’s gonna be somewhere gone. 30.

00:49:49:06 –> 00:49:49:10
I

00:49:49:10 –> 00:49:53:07
Love to see you guys going out on a limb. I think we can all vote, but that’s okay. What do you guys do? Yeah, that’s,

00:49:53:07 –> 00:49:57:25
That’s okay. So you 28 days. Well, one thing, I think Carter

00:49:57:25 –> 00:49:59:14
Spent that time on a bear hunt. Come,

00:50:01:03 –> 00:50:01:18
Come on.

00:50:02:01 –> 00:50:03:01
That was below the bell.

00:50:04:17 –> 00:50:05:17
Involuntary court.

00:50:05:17 –> 00:50:16:02
And then the next year I did another dumb went up and wasted some more time. Didn’t even get in the field. Didn’t even get in the field. So

00:50:16:09 –> 00:50:19:16
You guys are brave souls ripping off that scab. No, it’s fine.

00:50:19:20 –> 00:50:30:04
They’re gonna rape off. It’s like, probably feels about like this thumbnail’s gonna feel. It’s fine. That’s fine. I’m, I’m manning up. I agree. I take risks. So I’m a risk taker. And so with and

00:50:30:05 –> 00:50:33:01
An antelope punter like you declared on the last part, a trophy animal.

00:50:33:01 –> 00:50:35:11
Everybody, you know what people are calling me a trophy an have they hit? Oh,

00:50:35:16 –> 00:50:36:12
Are they hitting you nonstop?

00:50:36:12 –> 00:50:45:02
McKenzie remember McKenzie Sims hits me and he’s like, boy, I never realized Jason was such an a, had such a thing for these antelope. I do not have a thing for antelope.

00:50:45:05 –> 00:50:50:24
You announced it on the last podcast. You said, I am a trophy antelope hunter. A connoisseur

00:50:50:26 –> 00:50:54:11
Now. Okay. And I talked about you being a connoisseur and

00:50:54:20 –> 00:50:55:05
Of what?

00:50:55:12 –> 00:50:55:16
I

00:50:55:16 –> 00:51:08:10
Don’t know. I think I’ve killed, let me count. Yeah. Three antelope in my life. I know three. How old am I? I don’t know. I’m pretty old. 47. Four six. Yeah. Three. That’s one for every

00:51:09:22 –> 00:51:10:22
46 and a half.

00:51:11:14 –> 00:51:12:17
I don’t know how many years my memory

00:51:12:20 –> 00:51:13:02
Serves

00:51:13:02 –> 00:51:16:11
Me. 15 plus years. That’s not very many. I don’t have a

00:51:16:11 –> 00:51:24:20
Photographic memory. I think I break lobster. Alright, so let’s, what I, I think one thing we’ve been thinking about guys and that, and this is a serious note.

00:51:24:27 –> 00:51:33:00
Well, and it’s, it’s taken the, the, the ration that these guys just took about burn your points to go hunting, but taking it now to more of a serious note, more

00:51:33:00 –> 00:52:22:29
Of a serious level. So we’ve had members, multiple members, and it’s kind of been a heartbreaker just that these guys have come down with, you know, medical illness or whatever and realize the true end can see the true end of their hunting career. And I don’t know, I don’t know what it is, but it’s, we’re not talking about one specific person. We’re talking about five plus people this year, you know, hitting and that have been o open with us. There’s a lot of you guys out there that may feel the same way, are going through something tragic and and haven’t told us. But I just wanna say, you know, the one common theme with them is, you know, and they’re looking, they’re still trophy hunters and they, they have families and they wanna make the most of the time they have left or, or they can just see like, like as we’re getting older, we can see the end.

00:52:22:29 –> 00:53:13:01
You can wrap your arms around the, the end of that tunnel and, and you know, as you do so it’s just this common theme of enjoy your families, hunt with people you love. You know, I had a guy tell me, I don’t wanna learn new people. I wanna, I wanna spend the time hunting with people I already know. And, and that might be friends, that might be family, it might be guides, whatever. And, and then for some that have a little longer time than others, you know, is, is hunt often hunt? You know, use your points. Don’t be scared, you know, of, of going out on this hunt. I don’t wanna save. Money’s just not a factor. And it is a renewable resource. However, certain times of your life it feels like you could go on a hunt, afford it and then make it up. You have a little time to make it up. But anyway, just that enthusiasm for going hunting.

00:53:14:08 –> 00:54:06:07
Well, and might might emphasize too, some of these gentlemen that we’ve dealt with Jason for a couple 20 plus years maybe Yeah. Are not not that old. Some of ’em not even 60 years old. So we’re not talking about people that are seeing the end of, Hey, I’m 79. I hope I have one good deer hunt left or elk hunt left into me. That’s not that, that’s maybe a natural thought process. And that if we’re all fortunate enough, we’ll all live a long life and that will hit us all at some point too. But we’re also talking about stuff that comes up premature and that’s what’s, we’ve had a couple of calls, Jason, you’ve taken ’em this week that are pretty sobering people, you know, breaking news, so to speak with us, but in a private way. So we’re obviously not gonna talk about who they are or things like that, but it just causes you to pause a little bit and to the extent possible within your means of yourself, your family, your situation.

00:54:06:23 –> 00:55:14:11
And we go hunting. Use your points. Don’t, don’t hoard ’em. We’ve talked a lot about, it seems like this year in our, in our intro to the magazine, just don’t, don’t think you’ve always got something on the, on the shelf that you can just go grab and take off and, and do it whenever you want. Meaning 20 plus points somewhere and I’ll use ’em someday. Someday you may not be able to do that. And some of these diagnosis are very short timelines that have changed their life dramatically and are, you know, they’re hoping to have this, this fall even hot. So who knows? It’s, it’s sobering. So to the extent possible, you know, make good use of your decisions every fall. Value your points. But, but use your points. Don’t be afraid to go hunting. We’ve said that many times. Just don’t blow ’em all in one year to where you can’t do justice. But if you’re getting down to the wire, which we’re getting to that, that point of the year this year with states like Wyoming states, like Idaho, states like Arizona we’re talking about. And you don’t have much, if anything, put, put your chips on the table and burn your points and go, go get a hunt under your belt. Do something.

00:55:15:29 –> 00:55:30:28
So with that, yeah. Chris, you’ve been on a lot of hunts with us and you’ve watched us eat tags and you know, every time we get done, some of these are still great hunts. Just ’cause you didn’t notch the tag doesn’t mean you didn’t learn something. Doesn’t mean you didn’t make great friendships. You’re out there experiencing some crazy awesome stuff.

00:55:31:18 –> 00:55:59:01
Yeah, I mean, this year we went on a, an elk hunt and it was a great experience. We didn’t, didn’t kill in a bowl, but we had a great time and saw a lot of cool things. We saw some great mule deer, we saw COOs deer, we saw bears and just a big 10 mile horse ride in and out. And it was a, it just a fun experience. And man, th those are, those are things that you’ll always remember. Even even if we didn’t kill. I’m always gonna remember that trip.

00:56:00:03 –> 00:56:01:17
I’m gonna remember getting off that horse.

00:56:02:02 –> 00:56:02:08
Yeah.

00:56:03:00 –> 00:56:16:23
Very interesting. It’s the first John, first time we’ve ever heard the words. Some great mule deer outta that hunt. ’cause that’s, that’s a crisp p and Jason secret until now. Thanks Chris for sharing your experience. Appreciate it. Appreciate you opening

00:56:16:23 –> 00:56:28:08
Up with us. It was like, ah, great meal there. And, and if you gotta ride somewhere to an undisclosed location over 10 miles on a horse and then you have to hike another mile or two in. So good luck

00:56:29:09 –> 00:56:29:19
There.

00:56:29:19 –> 00:56:30:26
Still exciting to hear

00:56:30:26 –> 00:56:43:04
About if it makes you feel better. And I’m a proponent of burning tags. I didn’t even apply there. If it makes you feel any better, having said that was, it was quite a learning experience. So anyway,

00:56:43:19 –> 00:56:48:17
John, you’ve been pretty good at lining up some hunts. You’ve got one Yeah. Pretty maybe gonna draw. Yeah.

00:56:49:15 –> 00:56:50:08
To the point you’re,

00:56:50:11 –> 00:56:51:08
You guys are nervous, huh?

00:56:51:11 –> 00:57:11:25
Yeah. You guys are teasing them about, you know, trying not to draw too many tags. I’m getting there. Where Yeah, but like it, and, but I think it’s, you go so many years without drawing a random tag and man, I just can’t believe it. It’s still not even sinking in. I got a elk tag that I wasn’t expecting and now I might have two elk tags. Yeah. ’cause you

00:57:11:25 –> 00:57:13:28
Depending on planned on the other one. Yeah. But you might

00:57:14:01 –> 00:57:19:19
Well I, I got you guys came to me with some advice and said, burn your points. And I

00:57:19:26 –> 00:57:23:24
I, unlike these guys, I blindly follow you and you did well, right?

00:57:24:15 –> 00:57:27:04
Yeah. Well we’ll see in Utah if I draw L two oh oh, you’re

00:57:27:04 –> 00:57:29:02
Talking about Utah? Yeah. I’m looking back at like,

00:57:29:16 –> 00:57:34:08
No, he’s talking to Utah. Utah. He might drive from when he’s already got in New Mexico and I don’t

00:57:34:11 –> 00:57:34:23
Like being

00:57:34:23 –> 00:57:36:11
On the hook for friends and family. Well,

00:57:37:11 –> 00:57:45:04
But that, it’ll be a good hunt. It’ll be good, John. Yeah, I’m super excited. But I, I think I’ve got good tags every month. Month this fall.

00:57:45:08 –> 00:57:46:18
Well, and you got your, so we’ll

00:57:46:18 –> 00:57:46:22
See how

00:57:46:22 –> 00:57:55:07
Dedicated already, so you got three hunts on that and Yep. And couple elk without even trying, you know, really. So yeah,

00:57:55:13 –> 00:59:10:05
And, and luckily I didn’t draw. I thought I was gonna draw an Arizona elk and I didn’t. And now I’m Oh really lucky. Luckily I didn’t. But, but that, that comes along. I mean, you, you apply for 20 years and you just think every year I’m just, no tags, no tags. And then, you know, you’re like, this comes along and, and it seems like, you know, maybe I’m drawn more than my fair share, but geez, I’m, I’m tired of just not drawing a tag. Yeah. So it’s, it’s good. I just also wanted to, just a shout out to some of those guys that, that are having rough times, you know, medically, some of these guys that Jason’s talking about, we’ve known him for 20 years and, and Jason’s telling me about it and I’m getting choked up just because you build a relationship with clients, you know, over the years, you know, dear, dear and and hunts that they’ve been on that have been successful and, and enjoyed that. And, and then you meet ’em a couple times maybe at a show or something like that and, and oh it, it just hits me hard on some of these guys. And so I, I just like to shout out to our members and, and just some of the relationships we build over the years, they do mean a lot more than you might know.

00:59:11:02 –> 00:59:20:19
Yeah. Amen. And yeah, don’t, whenever it’s your time to check out, try not to check out with the bank of points ’cause they’re not worth anything. Yeah, no

00:59:20:19 –> 01:00:24:05
They’re not. The one thing we were talking about, we’ve had a lot of members mention, you know, it’d be nice if these states would allow you to gift your points one time at the end of your life or your application life, your hunting life, whatever state of of life you’re in to a relative and you know, it’s not, not just share a tag in states that allow it with your youth, a grandson or, or a son or whatever. If they meet the age requirements but actually gift them to a 40 year old son or something like that. And so anyway, I can, I can see the merit. You, you know, there’s plenty of, plenty of guys out there with points that are, they just go unutilized. And so, and not that every point in the world has to be utilized. I get it. It’s a random draw system even, you know, in large part across the west, even if we were working with points. But, but there is a little of that sentiment out there and we are hear hearing it more and more so, so any of the states that are out there listening might consider that, you know, it’s definitely becoming kind of a crazy time when you’re dealing with 31 points for sheep in Arizona and other places or Nevada. And

01:00:24:21 –> 01:00:31:11
What was the Buffalo 50 something, what’s the 50 something in Arizona? Yeah, 51 50 something points. Oh

01:00:31:11 –> 01:00:32:05
My, it’s max.

01:00:32:23 –> 01:00:57:07
It’s, it’s hard to even say that out loud. Sheep’s 31. I mean that’s hard. That’s the only other 30 plus. We got several other states. Washington, I guess Utah, Oregon, some of those that are getting into that mid and upper twenties on some species. But it’s, you know, I don’t know if we didn’t have an exit plan for some of those either. I don’t really think there is one.

01:00:58:00 –> 01:01:01:17
Alright guys, anything else you want to add? Any personal insights?

01:01:02:21 –> 01:01:04:18
We’re gonna stick with Kevin Cole’s advice. I think

01:01:04:28 –> 01:01:24:16
You guys gonna plead the fifth or whatever they call that. Something like that. We’ve had quite a few draw results. We had some Wyoming sheep, goat, moose, you know, results come out and some Colorado sheep and goat results come out. And so we’d love to hear from you guys. If you’re out there and you end up with a tag, please call us. We’d love to hear about it. Possibly help you. Yep.

01:01:24:17 –> 01:01:39:26
If you see charges on your Utah card in the next week or two, that’s, that’s on the front burner as well as Montana, moose, sheep, goat, bison. And then of course we move on to Nevada and, and Idaho Moose, sheep and goat here later in May. So anyway. Well,

01:01:39:26 –> 01:01:56:07
And maybe to end on a, on a positive note, and we might get you down talking about 30 points for this and 50 points for that. We, we just had some clients draw with zero points tags that they had no business drawn. Devin, I think you, you talked to one, one of our clients. Tell us about that. Well,

01:01:56:14 –> 01:02:03:11
I was checking some results, you know. Oh yeah. Got went three for four and three of the people were in the same immediate family. Yeah. Brothers,

01:02:03:13 –> 01:02:04:14
Two brothers, brothers hunting

01:02:05:00 –> 01:02:05:01
Mountain,

01:02:05:03 –> 01:02:10:14
Two brothers Drew Mountain Goat in Wyoming, randomly the same unit.

01:02:11:07 –> 01:02:11:22
Amazing.

01:02:11:25 –> 01:02:15:08
It’s unbelievable. It’s unbelievable. You know, it’s, it’s, so that’s gonna be a

01:02:15:18 –> 01:02:25:26
Experience, Bronson, when you text me, it’s like your name. You need to put your name in all the hats you can, things happen, things happen to people that apply. That’s right. Things, good things happen.

01:02:26:02 –> 01:02:46:14
And, and it, you could take that same wisdom and apply it to California, which we talked about earlier. Maybe we didn’t have as high of a hey must apply for attitude about it, but hey, you know, if you got a little extra cash, your name’s in the hat somewhere, much like some of the state raffles or our membership drive or something like that. Good things can happen if you have a name in the hat.

01:02:46:29 –> 01:03:53:05
Speaking of membership drive, we do have our summer membership drive going on right now. You can join as a new member, you’ll be able to get a ticket in there to a hunt of your choice as well as if you have a guy that refers, you put his name in as well, then you can also purchase tickets for this particular membership drive. Very short drive deadline would be June 19th. We’re gonna try to have that drawing on the 20th, see how that goes. But we’re gonna try like, heck. So anyway, some great hunts. They’re outlined in our publication. If you wanna know what you’re joining, it’s Epic Outdoors, publication, consulting services, anything to do with Western Big game. We cover it in the publication December through June monthly, bimonthly, the remainder part of the year. Nine issues a year. And then you can call in and, and get personal insights and whatnot. And there’s also very active hunt planner on our website. Covers drawing ons, particulars about the states, write-ups, all kinds of things. Mapping very aggressive available to members only. So you can go learn about us on epic outdoors.com. But then members have a whole new set set up within there. Once you log in, a hundred bucks a year. That’s what we’re at. So,

01:03:53:15 –> 01:04:34:25
And don’t forget to call us with your tags and your good news, whether you’re gonna do it self-guided or whether you’re gonna go guided. We can help you, help you recommend an outfit of we know, well, Devin, Wyatt, Jason, I, any of us, Chris, John, anybody can help you with that. If you also wanna do it on your own. And that’s kind of your intention. We have a member or Epic member experience database that we can send you a list of other members that have had your same tag in the past and let you email or call visit with them about the planning phase where, where and how and all that about the unit you’re drawing. That’s all included in your service as well. So let us know when you start getting your driver driver results out. May’s a huge month for us, so give us a call and let us know what we’ve drawn.
