00:00:00:26 –> 00:00:02:14
Anything to do with Western game.

00:00:06:05 –> 00:00:09:10
Welcome to the epic outdoors podcast. Powered by Underarmour.

00:00:13:09 –> 00:00:40:15
Hey everybody. Jason Carter, Adam Bronson, John Peterson. We’ve got Josh Wyatt also. Geez, we got everybody but worked Devin, Devin, Devin. He got a, he’s got a tag in Nevada. We’re not going to tell anybody where, cause he’ll end up probably meeting him in the restroom up there in some famous place. But Hey, whatever he is having a good time, his stocking bucks and send them back. Texts, pictures, things like that. And here we are in the office. So whatever. How

00:00:40:15 –> 00:00:42:11
About his temp pitcher from last night?

00:00:43:07 –> 00:00:48:29
We should post that up. Hey, Hey, post that up on the app. When we, when we publish this podcast,

00:00:49:13 –> 00:00:51:18
Make sure your flies don’t up. Show

00:00:51:18 –> 00:01:01:16
Your flies up. He, he went out scouting and I guess it blew the tent fly off and then it rained. It poured while he was out and about. And he came back to a muddy mess

00:01:02:00 –> 00:01:03:13
Lake in his tent,

00:01:04:11 –> 00:01:08:08
In the world, famous tent cop. But I just want to ask you guys, do any of you feel bad for Devin?

00:01:09:20 –> 00:01:10:07
Well,

00:01:11:10 –> 00:01:26:23
Hope you get wet Devin. Anyway. He’s he’s having a good time. Starting it off, right? August 10th. See opener in Nevada. It’s always kind of fun because that’s like the first major hunt except for California and the California guys are listening to this right now. We’re pretty mad. Cause they were hunting in July or something. I don’t know. When do they

00:01:26:23 –> 00:01:29:02
Hunt these dependent? Dying for three weeks.

00:01:29:16 –> 00:01:31:02
That’s right. We haven’t gotten the full photos.

00:01:32:02 –> 00:01:34:06
That’s weird. And they’re rutting. They ended July. It’s

00:01:34:06 –> 00:01:36:25
Just, they really just tell me that. Are they really okay?

00:01:38:08 –> 00:01:39:29
What are they an African animal?

00:01:39:29 –> 00:01:40:26
What they are. They don’t look.

00:01:41:09 –> 00:01:46:20
Sure. Look like it out to me. They don’t act like, are there species of elk?

00:01:46:23 –> 00:02:08:05
They bugle it in like June, July and stuff like that. It’s all that salt water. They drink whatever they live in California. I guess you gotta be weird. Nah, I’m just teasing everybody. All right. So anyway, here we are Bronson. He’s been gone the last couple of podcasts. It seems like we’ve done two. Since he was gone. He’s been up in the north end

00:02:08:15 –> 00:02:11:25
North, but it wasn’t white, but the great north. Great

00:02:12:19 –> 00:02:19:15
And had quite an experience lucky to be back alive. Quite frankly, dude, you dump a raft or you’re lucky to get that.

00:02:20:10 –> 00:02:40:05
Yeah, it was that wasn’t fun. That was the first night. But maybe glad I had good gear because you had everything inside your pack. I also had one of the cue to take who bags outside my pack. So I had that my pack in and then inside that pack, your clothes are in dry packs and now you’re glad you do that.

00:02:40:11 –> 00:02:44:27
Yeah. The trash bags or the F yeah. So you got a layering system for the backpack and all that.

00:02:45:00 –> 00:02:50:11
Oh your clothes. And Hey, when you, when you go over in a river, you’re glad you have all that because

00:02:50:20 –> 00:02:52:00
Did you have dry socks?

00:02:52:22 –> 00:03:22:09
Everything. Everything was dry, but I mean, you go up to your neck. I mean, it wasn’t that deep, but when fall out of raft, your, your legs, aren’t already up. So you’re you, you, you go first in and you’re up to your neck, you know? So everything’s wet. So this started off kind of interesting, but yeah, we had a, we had a heck of a trip. This is one, I think it started maybe four years ago. We were up at the Western hunting conservation expo. That’s based in salt lake for all of these notes.

00:03:22:09 –> 00:03:23:06
Speaking of which

00:03:24:11 –> 00:03:26:03
Family as well, mine’s, we’ll do a plug for them.

00:03:26:11 –> 00:03:27:26
Second to the fifth, save the date

00:03:28:14 –> 00:03:33:16
To the winery. You’re no longer going to be able to take Carly and double dip for Valentines.

00:03:33:17 –> 00:03:35:22
I noticed that a little bit earlier this year.

00:03:36:06 –> 00:03:37:21
So you already noticed that, but

00:03:38:00 –> 00:03:39:11
I thought it was first thing I thought of

00:03:39:16 –> 00:03:44:16
Your award for even thinking well, if Carly ever bashes you, you tell her to call us. We’ve got your

00:03:44:16 –> 00:03:45:15
Back. I didn’t quite get

00:03:45:15 –> 00:03:47:02
Into look at what what’s Josh doing?

00:03:48:04 –> 00:03:48:23
What are you missing,

00:03:48:27 –> 00:04:06:06
Josh? What tag is it? Lots of good. Come on antlered. Oh one, five archery. Somebody got a giant up there. Well, what I think is funny is here we are. The rest of us are really engrossed in a podcast. Josh is over there, screwing off, looking at them for surplus.

00:04:06:19 –> 00:04:10:17
This is how you’re going to accidentally. This is how you’re accidentally going to buy a callout.

00:04:12:07 –> 00:04:14:19
You’re going to be in jail, jail for seven

00:04:14:19 –> 00:04:16:21
And just add it to cart tag jail. Seven days.

00:04:16:28 –> 00:04:27:16
I can just reach over there and add it to his cart. Nobody wants it. Break your finger. Somebody got a big box, but nobody wants it. Well anyway, anyway, we are saved the date. We’re going to be up there at the expo, by the way,

00:04:28:01 –> 00:04:32:04
Second to fifth, a couple of weeks earlier. And we’re joking about Valentine’s day.

00:04:32:09 –> 00:04:35:15
You’re on a cool about, this is what we’re going to just send out a magazine,

00:04:35:28 –> 00:04:40:13
The other nice. But it’s also about two, three days probably for Arizona deadline. And that’s not going to

00:04:40:13 –> 00:04:42:21
Be, that’s not nice, but we don’t have to worry about that.

00:04:43:26 –> 00:04:44:24
I’ll be worried about that.

00:04:45:27 –> 00:04:48:00
Well, why it’s already

00:04:48:00 –> 00:04:48:20
Worried about it.

00:04:49:05 –> 00:04:53:17
If he’s already thinking about Carlin and Valentine’s day, he’s already thinking about the deadline.

00:04:53:21 –> 00:04:57:12
I just knew that I would have an excuse not to do Valentine’s day this year.

00:04:58:22 –> 00:05:03:24
Great question once the next day that those special pajamas gone. So why is that in your calendar?

00:05:04:10 –> 00:05:06:21
I have no idea, but Jason got husband of the year.

00:05:06:29 –> 00:05:25:29
Good. Hey, so tell everybody about special pajamas. Totally lost. So I guess there’s pajamas that make your woman feel really special. They’re awesome. They are. They’re like better than fleece, whatever that is. Okay. Tell us, tell us about it. Don’t don’t elaborate. We don’t want to have to edit this.

00:05:26:25 –> 00:05:30:16
I don’t know a lot about them other than they’re called the light by Kate

00:05:30:25 –> 00:05:31:08
Late at night.

00:05:31:16 –> 00:05:33:05
They go on sale twice a year

00:05:33:06 –> 00:05:35:18
And they’re first come first serve only. Oh

00:05:36:15 –> 00:05:38:04
Crap. Your you’ve gotta be on there.

00:05:38:14 –> 00:05:40:05
I have multiple screens up. Yeah.

00:05:41:26 –> 00:05:45:21
All I knew is I came to work that day and I’m like, what? The freak am I missing?

00:05:45:24 –> 00:05:48:27
Because you are a freaking hero. Oh

00:05:48:27 –> 00:05:50:11
Wait, we should post that video.

00:05:50:17 –> 00:06:02:13
Awesome. You did take some video if you remember, like you had on the phone and pretty soon you would, you just said, Hey, I gotta go. Cause 10 o’clock straight up. And they sell out.

00:06:02:22 –> 00:06:04:22
It’s kind of like concert tickets or something like that.

00:06:04:24 –> 00:06:08:17
Concert tickets, tag grabs any, anything like that? They come and go fast.

00:06:08:18 –> 00:06:19:21
So anybody out there that wants to be husband of the year or at work, get that award or even try to get that award, try lates by cake, get them pajamas. The most amazing pajamas ever. Right.

00:06:20:01 –> 00:06:20:20
I’ve been told.

00:06:21:10 –> 00:06:25:17
So I ordered a couple of pair and I was still a hero. It was

00:06:26:08 –> 00:06:26:26
Mother’s day.

00:06:27:06 –> 00:06:27:25
I don’t remember

00:06:29:15 –> 00:06:30:07
Christmas, I believe.

00:06:30:27 –> 00:06:32:27
Or just buy them any other pajamas you can find

00:06:33:23 –> 00:06:49:20
And say there’s bedroom, smell these ones, ours. But when you have to get in line. So anyway, why it’s been thinking about that? Obviously? What, so what else? What about February 2nd to the fifth way? That’s really got you wound up. Anything else? Just noticing, just noticing that it’s not going to be

00:06:49:23 –> 00:06:50:17
Over violent over.

00:06:50:25 –> 00:07:10:05
I think there’s a lot of ladies that are going to be grateful. It’s not over Ballantines anymore. I mean a lot. I mean, I’ve used that line on my wife a couple of times and it worked once or twice. But back when there used to be some concerts and stuff that were bigger than maybe who they’re bringing in now, there were some, remember we went to the Delta center like Alan Jackson. It’s pretty

00:07:10:05 –> 00:07:11:04
Good. It’s kind of cool.

00:07:11:22 –> 00:07:12:07
Valentine’s

00:07:13:06 –> 00:07:14:01
Well, well, one of the,

00:07:14:01 –> 00:07:17:14
The other things on the hunt expo, that’s just most important is get

00:07:17:14 –> 00:07:20:00
Your hotel. I mean,

00:07:20:00 –> 00:07:21:06
It’s, it’s six months early, but

00:07:21:23 –> 00:07:25:20
Adam and I both sent you in Jana with reminders that we need to get our company. Yeah.

00:07:25:26 –> 00:07:33:11
Yeah. Room speaking for experience. One day, one year we waited. We were scrambling. So

00:07:33:11 –> 00:07:35:21
Anyway, so Bronson you circling back to that.

00:07:36:05 –> 00:07:44:14
Oh yeah. So since it’s in Utah, you know, a lot of our families and wives, wife, not wives

00:07:47:28 –> 00:07:55:09
But we have multiple people. So I use the term, our wives, but I reach out one. We are from Utah. We’ll each have one. Come on. We’re

00:07:55:09 –> 00:07:55:25
Singular.

00:07:56:03 –> 00:07:59:04
Yes. But, and children would come up.

00:07:59:05 –> 00:08:01:06
Could you, can any of you guys have handled more than though?

00:08:01:12 –> 00:08:17:26
Oh my God. One time, you know, Jared dueling, he’s spent an epic approved outfitter of our, since inception. We’ve known him for a long, long time. Jason and I have hunted moose there Jason’s actually a hundred dollars sheep fan and sheep there with him once. And I think that’s awesome. But anyway, great guy.

00:08:18:14 –> 00:08:19:06
We’ve spent a lot of

00:08:19:06 –> 00:08:35:17
Lives down. Yeah. He lives down in the U S part of the year. And then obviously he’s from white horse. Well, one, one year he, Ty was with me and Ms. Over there, my boy Ty was bismuth Jarrett. And he just looked at say, when are you gonna have your head bring you up? And hunt Dall, sheep. And what does a 13 year old kid do

00:08:36:00 –> 00:08:36:07
When

00:08:37:03 –> 00:09:09:14
He looks at me? And like, I don’t know, dad run me going. And that’s how this kind of was hashed, but, but he was 13 and I’m like, okay, I’m not dragging. I’m not going to drag a kid through the sheep mountains. You know, you got to get some, put some meat on your bones. Let’s let’s, let’s wait a few years. So we, we, but I’m also, I’m getting older. Not that I F I’m not saying I’m in the Twilight of my hunting years, but, but Hey, the fun stuff you’re saying the mountains. Well, yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. I’m not too

00:09:09:14 –> 00:09:12:12
Proud. He like, in three days he’d be like, ah, my legs, but legs are

00:09:12:12 –> 00:09:13:08
Hard when you’re

00:09:13:22 –> 00:09:16:15
Three days and Garth used to go, I quit. What do you mean?

00:09:16:28 –> 00:09:20:00
I quit drinking pop for a week. And I’m like, all right, I’m a sheep shape. I’ve been

00:09:20:00 –> 00:09:22:00
Shaped. That doesn’t happen anymore.

00:09:22:13 –> 00:09:38:07
So, you know, I just see, you know, collectively, that’d be really fun to take, take Tai. I only have one son. So I guess I’m maybe in a little bit of a unique position, some of you, Jason, others that have 3, 4, 5, 6 boys and Nike take one. What do you got to do? He’s got to somehow take them on.

00:09:38:08 –> 00:09:40:05
It’s got Ashley too. Yeah. She’s no

00:09:40:05 –> 00:10:13:09
Joke to me. You got they’re all. So, but anyway, you know, I said, all right, I want, I want them to be big enough old enough, but I also want to also take them and I enjoy it because let’s face it when they get out of college. If they go and serve a mission for our church or go to college and then get married, there’s about a five to seven, eight year period. There that’s harder maybe than as a, you know, senior in high school. You know? So anyway, Yukon starts August 1st. That was also different than Alaska. Alaska. Doesn’t start till the 10th and they’re going to miss some school. So anyway, we were,

00:10:13:21 –> 00:10:16:26
You’ve got a lot of hunt like you could do right now. You could do archery in Dubai.

00:10:16:28 –> 00:10:47:03
I’m home. I was home on the seventh. Right. So anyway, so then COVID hit on the first year was a wash last year. It opened, but like about August 1st. And it was like, all right, 9th of August, you can get in, but Jared, wasn’t able to get guides. We weren’t able to re rack that quick. So we put it off a year. So here it is. So now he’s, you know, he’s, I’m actually liking it. Cause he’s in a position he’s taller than me. He’s obviously way younger. And if he needs to pack some of my stuff, he can, he’s fully capable now

00:10:47:25 –> 00:10:53:26
Probably with tie though. It’s he wouldn’t let you live it down. I can’t imagine you put mud on his back. No, but he’s carrying everything.

00:10:54:04 –> 00:12:03:23
He had a lot of stuff, but, but overall, yeah, I didn’t, I didn’t have to worry about it. I wasn’t going to worry about it. Cause I can kind of treat him like a man, like a man. So to speak, say, you sign up for this. This is part of it, you know, the 13, 14, 15, you’re you’re going to feel bad for them. I don’t feel bad for him anyway, but long story short, the time had come and yeah, we flew up to white horse. I think it was the 28th or ninth or whatever it was. And we got flown out and dropped off on a, on a lake, like most people do and, and headed down the river and, and we’re in the range. Of course not a lot of these Outfitters areas up in Canada have been hunted full steam for the last couple of years because of COVID the first year they had maybe some Canadians and last year, some Canadians and maybe a mixture of Americans later in the year. So you’re kind of a, that’s maybe a good thing. You have Rams that are maybe getting old somewhere, but, but also you don’t have it it’s been three years, right? Like, all right, what’s going on? They’ve had a couple giant winners across wa like record setting. So that’s in the back of your mind, like giant snow winners, hunting sheep. That doesn’t feel like you want to follow that, but they’re

00:12:03:23 –> 00:12:05:27
Hardy, but geez, I don’t even

00:12:05:27 –> 00:13:00:11
Know how much, I don’t even know how a moose survives their let alone a sheep. So yeah, we got there. We set out that first, first night we set up camp and then basically had a, a huge pool, a couple thousand vertical feet, you know, all day hike and the next day and just overgrown brush stuff. It’s not like we’re on a great trail or anything like that, but it was a, it was a grind. There’s no, I mean, even for me, it wasn’t one of those days. Wasn’t fun. It was raining most of the day. So you’re forced to wear rain gear. Cause it’s raining. Plus all the brush you’re going through. Every time you touch it, just rains on you. So you have to wear it. But you’re sweating on the inside. You’re drenched on the outside and Memphis vetoes for epic. They were, I’ve never seen something like it. And we’re we, I mean, w we brought some deep, but we didn’t bring near enough. And I didn’t bring a head net, you know, just lots of things like, Hey, head nets, don’t weigh anything. That’s a, that’s a tip of the week. They don’t weigh anything.

00:13:00:20 –> 00:13:02:12
You immediately cut the end off your teeth. Brush,

00:13:02:19 –> 00:13:05:10
Bring to bring to head nets. You still on the way up

00:13:05:19 –> 00:13:15:00
Eight away. My watch. I’ll never forget it. Remember your Ironman, watch eight, the screen, the 99% D for whatever. I think it’s cancer. It’s no question that stuff’s hard on PC.

00:13:15:00 –> 00:13:15:12
No joke.

00:13:16:04 –> 00:13:19:00
You get mosquitoes got to kill mosquitoes somehow. So whatever. Yeah,

00:13:19:17 –> 00:13:26:12
That’s right. So that, that first day was pretty much, we had a, we had two guides at Carlin cam and then,

00:13:27:08 –> 00:13:29:11
And she’s no joke. No, she’s,

00:13:29:18 –> 00:13:30:28
She’s an animal, Carlos.

00:13:31:01 –> 00:13:34:12
So do you want to talk about Carla a little bit, a little bit of her background?

00:13:34:27 –> 00:13:54:14
Oh yeah. She’s got it for JIRA for a long, long time, but about, I don’t know. I wanna S I I’m, I’m kind of guessing here five or six years ago, she, she got invited. However, that came to be too. She was on gold rush. The TV show, gold rush for a bunch of years. Carla was on that then shoot drive Semite dump trucks. I mean, she’s a,

00:13:54:14 –> 00:13:55:08
She’s aggressive,

00:13:55:08 –> 00:14:15:09
You know, Carla from gold GRA gold dress. She’s, she’s a, you know, tough Canadian gal. She’s not real big. She’s probably five, two to four. I don’t know, maybe 5, 5, 3 to five. I dunno. Two’s probably too short, but she’s not, not big, but man, she can carry a pack and she’ll, she’ll crack the whip on you. I mean,

00:14:15:29 –> 00:14:16:17
If you’re sitting

00:14:16:17 –> 00:14:28:16
Down, they’re resting for 60 minutes, 60 seconds, it’s like, all right, get your stuff on. We’re going to get go. I mean, there’s no, wow. I mean, she, she just has it in her mind. We gotta get there, you know, sooner than later

00:14:29:04 –> 00:14:31:21
Nobody’s waking up, but he wants us to pick a fight with her

00:14:32:04 –> 00:15:08:18
And you want to get there sooner than later, of course. But, but man, when you’re heavy and you’re wet and all that, you’re tending to blister or mosquitoes or whatever like that. But anyway, that was that first day cam cam, one of Jared’s distant cousins. He was another one of our guides and then epic outdoors member. Steve he’s just been up that your number of years. And he was there just basically pack and be along for the ride. So we had, we had three of us plus Ty and I, and you know, the goal was simply to get Thai doll sheep. That was the goal of this trip. But of course we had two guides. You have to have a guide for each potential hunter

00:15:09:26 –> 00:15:10:27
And you were lined up and the

00:15:10:27 –> 00:15:17:21
Tags are so cheap that tags, I forget what it is, but right. Two 50 to 300 bucks, you buy every species

00:15:17:26 –> 00:15:20:29
I already there, why not work a deal if the opportunity arises

00:15:21:06 –> 00:15:52:16
And that’s all, it was like, you know, I had to pay all my charter fees. I had to pay all that stuff to be there. Cause I’m not gonna miss it. But, but I might as well have it in case, Hey situation. Right. We really were AF after we started going in where we’re going, I saw the mountain range road going. I said, I don’t care how big a caribou is or a moose is. I would walk away from any of them. I’m not, I’m not because I know what I’d be signing up for. And you all would hate me for the rest of my life to pack something out of where we’re going, a sheep or a Wolf is the only thing that that will shoot. So

00:15:52:27 –> 00:15:56:23
You’re nice. Cause a lot of clients would say I’m shooting it. Y’all figure out how to get it out. I mean,

00:15:57:17 –> 00:15:59:07
No, it’s just one of those

00:15:59:07 –> 00:16:00:10
Things. Common courtesy.

00:16:00:17 –> 00:16:06:07
Yeah. It’s kind of like Josh with his dad and New Mexico last year. You just, there’s certain things you don’t want to do. Right. So, so this

00:16:06:07 –> 00:16:07:19
First day is when you dumped the draft.

00:16:07:27 –> 00:16:34:28
Yeah. W w w we camp that night, we camped that night on the river. We went down, you know, few hours stopped. And so then it’s just the first full day that we woke up the next full day, which is actually the day before the opener. Oh, we’re, we’re hiking way into this mountain range. That’s, you know, they hadn’t killed a lot of sheep over maybe three Rams in about 15 years. So it’s not, you know, Jared has mostly stone sheep in his era, but he’s got, he’s got some ranges that he’s got light colored, maybe really, really light fan and

00:16:36:05 –> 00:17:02:20
Dall sheep. You know, they’re just, you know, the errors are so vast and you’ve got pockets of mountains all over, however different edits and stuff that just are what they are. And some of them, they’re 30 to 50 miles from another mountain range, you know, they’re long ways, but now we’re targeting and doll sheep. And that, that, that they was a grind. It was a, it was a grown man’s day. I’m not the best way I could put it because whether I had my son there with me or not, it was, it was all I wanted. It was just one of them.

00:17:02:20 –> 00:17:13:10
You said something like it was, I should read it word for word, but basically it was the worst. She pack whatever pack in that you’ve ever experienced as even an Escalade.

00:17:13:13 –> 00:17:15:06
I was thinking mainly as my thin horns,

00:17:16:00 –> 00:17:18:05
The worst, the most aggressive

00:17:18:18 –> 00:17:27:20
You have heat and stuff there that can compound things. And that’s, there’s dimensions there with rivers and distance and all that. There’s been some, those are some of the individual grinders,

00:17:27:21 –> 00:17:29:21
But then Hornet was the biggest,

00:17:29:23 –> 00:18:20:12
Biggest pull day that I’ve actually done in a day. And physical was uphill the whole way, pretty much. And just the mosquitoes. I mean, I know I’m talking about a tiny bug, but when you have thousands around you, I mean, it’s just takes it out of you all the time and then it’s raining, you’re sweating on the out. So it’s just a normal grind and you gotta be prepared for that. You know, Ty had a blister foreman on one of his heels. And so we stopped. We had stuff for that. I mean, a blister can, can ruin a hunt. I mean, it can ruin the rest of your hunt and I’ve had to take care of that. And it was good. The rest of the way wave was great to have great gear. I mean, we’re, we’re big Q U fans. And you know, obviously they’re a great support of our served epic outdoors doors that have been from the start. So the layering system was on and off all hunt long. You’re taking stuff off, putting it on. And that’s what I like about queue system.

00:18:20:22 –> 00:18:25:08
And it sheds the water like crazy. And then you guys had the tent and it was secret, worked off.

00:18:25:17 –> 00:18:36:27
It was great. It was great. And even those Taikoo bags, I keep going back to those. I put my backpack inside one of those, cause I have flown to Alaska and places with just my backpack and all the buckles done up. And that’s a piece of luggage,

00:18:37:05 –> 00:18:39:15
But you run the risk of those buckles, getting smashed and broken

00:18:39:16 –> 00:19:23:26
Conveyor belts. One time I came home and in salt lake, my lumbar, you know, that big lumbar pad that’s that’s right there. It was dangling by a thread. And I’m thinking, what if you are just going on a hunt there and that’s often you can’t, that’s not a needle and thread repair job. So you put them in one of those Taikoo bags and it’s, it’s just an, they actually have backpack straps. So you can wear them through the airport. It’s just a kind of a rubberized, if you will zips it up your packs in there and all the buckles. But, but when you’re, when you’re in a boat or in a plane or all that, just add a big dimension to safety. Like I said, it was nice to have it, you know, in, in those, in the RAF anyway. So we set up camp that night and, you know, tried to dry out we’re we’re on the fringe of what I would call the sheep range.

00:19:23:27 –> 00:20:04:00
But you know, that’s, that’s as far because from there on you could day hunt for a couple of days, and then if you needed to grab your stuff and go for a bigger bite, you could do that. Well, long story short, we had 10 days of food. We were going to hunt these first few canyons. Pretty, pretty, I guess, softly. We’re not just going to crush through stuff because, you know, historically when I say that like three years ago and then four or five years prior to that they’d killed around here. So I mean two Rams and seven, eight years, it’s like, at least we were kind of starting there, but so the next day comes and yeah, we, we, we worked our way up. This canyon probably went three or four miles up there to where had to kind of some conferences, mothers hadn’t seen a thing and kind of that time, all right.

00:20:04:00 –> 00:20:35:24
We’re, we’ve kind of seen what’s right here in front of us. We’re going to have to get a different angle or go around the corners, bunch of candidates start taking off decision time. And as we’re climbing up this hill, probably I had to go about four or 500 yards. We’re going to look into another canyon, big canyon as we’re doing that. I stopped arrest. And I just turned, turned back and looked and, you know, had the 12 piers on my chest. And I mean, from Mount half, two miles, there’s two white dots and I’m like, I got sheep and I sat down and I could see horns from that far. And I’m just telling you, I mean,

00:20:35:24 –> 00:20:36:29
Twelves were next level.

00:20:37:17 –> 00:21:02:01
Oh. And then the other guys had tens. And like, I don’t know how you can see that. I’m like, I’m telling you they’re they’re ramps. I can see horn. And they all had tents and a long, so got the spotting scope on them. And they were both mature ramps. And initially, you know, in the back of my mind on this site and I’m like, how it’d be really cool to tie, could shoot one and I could shoot. Wouldn’t be a just incredible haunt. You know, it didn’t even really go to the level of, well, maybe two together, but

00:21:02:01 –> 00:21:02:20
Took one gun,

00:21:03:03 –> 00:21:03:28
Just took one gun,

00:21:05:03 –> 00:21:05:27
The little six, five.

00:21:05:27 –> 00:21:09:27
Yeah. Just not going to, I mean, that’s another seven pounds or

00:21:09:27 –> 00:21:11:10
Whatever tie packet or you pack.

00:21:11:18 –> 00:21:12:05
I packed it.

00:21:12:25 –> 00:21:15:20
Yeah. All right. Well he should say, thank you. Yeah,

00:21:16:04 –> 00:21:40:27
I had that. So he had his stuff and he did have the tent, but the guns had than an attempt. Yeah. So long story short, we got it in the scope and, and they were just feeding on the top of a little Knoll, going to the back of a big canyon amphitheater that had just giant rugged walls. Now, not really. Could you say it’s a box canyon for a sheep. They could get out of it if they want it, but they’re not going to go out of it unless they’re like bumped

00:21:40:27 –> 00:21:41:24
Really bumped. It’s

00:21:41:24 –> 00:21:44:22
Like the sheep stuff’s down lower and up above.

00:21:44:22 –> 00:21:47:06
It’s like safe. As long as we don’t bump them, they’re going to, they’re

00:21:47:06 –> 00:22:27:01
Going to be probably in there. But the problem is there’s no vantage point to get and look at them from a distance. They went over Ridge and down into the back. Like you have to pretty much go up, follow them. Yeah. So we stripped off the ringer kinda broke. And so we, we burned up there and probably two hours, we were within three or 400 yards where they went over the Ridge. And all we could tell from that first distance was, you know, we, we saw, we saw one round was really long on both sides. He bedded down. When we stood up, he turned to look down Canada. We got a perfect view of him. We can see what’s tipped out on both sides. The other Ram we could see was mature. He’s a little bit wider set, but he, he fed away pretty much the whole way.

00:22:27:01 –> 00:23:12:14
We, we never got a good look, thought he probably was illegal Ram or Ram. You might shoot. But the other one was definitively. So as we start, you know, we’re doing the cat mouse thing. Now you’re kind of walking forward, it’s getting four or five in the afternoon. You’re just basically falling where they went. Nothing quite looks like it does. There’s a lot more up and down really poli, which actually is good instead of just one Ridge. And now you’re exposed. You just, you peak and there’s 70, 75 yards to a hundred. You work it. And there’s another 50 to 75. And then we got despotic, see two sheet beds. And we never saw him bed right there. But that’s obviously that told me, these, these guys have been right here for a little bit. Cause they’re fresh. They’ve been here for a couple of days and the mosquitoes weren’t, there was no mosquitoes up there or in the day I was coming up.

00:23:12:26 –> 00:23:48:10
And I’m like, I’m like, see these caribou clear at the tops of these peaks in snowdrifts land down, which they do a lot, but they were way high. And I said, I’ll bet these sheep are high out of these bugs. Cause nothing like sitting around in this many bugs. So anyway, you get up there, it’s just cooler. There’s, you’re closer to, you know, snowbanks that are, haven’t got away. It’s just, you know, all that. So anyway, one of the rise were coming over and Carla hit the deck and she says, I got him right here on like, well like, like right when our, like a hundred yards bed stern right out of stomach, did they see? She goes, I don’t think

00:23:48:10 –> 00:23:48:16
So.

00:23:49:07 –> 00:24:14:06
And it’s always like, okay, so you peek over. No, he’s just sitting there. It’s it’s the long tip Trump. He’s like a hundred yards. And I’m telling you, you look at a doll sheep, it’s pouring rain. So that’s what, instead of sit and wait him out for the evening to come out when it was pouring rain. I said, these things are laying down somewhere. They are not up. It’s just pouring. And when you see some, I don’t know, a hundred yards or 12 power vinyls, a sheep just staring at you. You don’t it’s

00:24:14:06 –> 00:24:15:07
45 inches long.

00:24:16:22 –> 00:25:03:07
I told Ty he gets up there because he couldn’t stand. I says, well, we just don’t let them see it. He’s sung. He’s like, holy crap. And he says, I said, I shoot that sheep sheep on. I go on. He just beautiful, just tipped and beautiful. He says, well, that’s the one that we saw down there. And I’m like, oh yeah, that’s that’s, that’s the one. But I says, I’d like to see the other one or how many is there in here? We’ve only seen those two. We saw them for 15 minutes. I don’t want you to shoot it. And just an eruption of sheep to come out of here. And I’m trying to sort something out well or yeah, you’re trying to sort it out. So we sat there for about five, 10 minutes and nothing happened. Carla said, Hey, I’m going to, I’m going to sneak back and get Steven camp. We’d left them probably. Oh, the Oak, just over the last tail, just sold five of us, trying to do a, do a stock pack

00:25:03:07 –> 00:25:04:11
Of wolves, Pekin. Yep.

00:25:04:15 –> 00:25:11:03
She came back, brought them. And as she was bringing back, I, I felt the wind just a little bit on my back.

00:25:12:26 –> 00:25:16:05
Well shoot without Carla’s. I don’t want to do, she’s gonna

00:25:16:17 –> 00:25:18:05
She’s she’s the boss. You

00:25:18:05 –> 00:25:22:01
Have, you got, you got wind hitting the back of your neck. That’s stressful. Yeah.

00:25:22:08 –> 00:26:11:05
That, and so I come over there and I said, get back. You know, I looked over Ty’s Ram stood up and he shaken off. So I knew he’s not alert when they’re, when they stand up and shake off. They’re just, that’s normal behavior. She gets up in there next to me and I says, he’s up? And I says, he’s, he’s locked onto something. I felt the wind. So he’s now he’s shook off. And now he’s just looking our way. And right then I saw this other Ram walk behind the, this, this first Ram. And he just walked in and he’s, he’s not walking. He’s, he’s like, I’m getting out of here walking. And he’s going straight up up the talus rock pile, which is kinda what you’re doing. If you want to, Hey, I’m going to get higher ground. Something’s not right down here. And as he did that, I didn’t even look in the scope. I could just see with my naked eye, that, that one right long. So I’m like, well, that’s long, plenty long. Whatever’s on the other side

00:26:11:15 –> 00:26:12:04
Of the second

00:26:12:05 –> 00:27:09:26
One. Good. So they’re both shooters. So I’m like, well shoot that one. Hopefully, but this one’s staring at me and that’s the one we’ve really analyzed. And I said, all right, Ty, get ready. So the guns, guns land between Ty and I. And I sit soon. As soon as we see them come out of this crease, I’m going to throw the gun up there. So pretty soon they start up and there, they kind of would run and stop and run and stop, you know, 10, 20 yards. Anyway, long story short, I just grabbed the gun, threw it up there and said, kill your ass. Now he’s one on the left. The other end have walked behind. His was up ahead of him. And he one shot shoots and it just stove up. And it, now, now I’m at that moment. Okay. I’m like, should I have him? Shoot it again? Karnak she’s like, ah, and right, right about then he started doing the backpedal goes down. I just said, give me the gun. Right. Then I’m like, this crap is going to happen. This is really, there’s only two sheep. This is, this is it. This one’s going to, so I grabbed it, slapped the gun down. Boom, one shot drop mine in. And then we, how

00:27:09:26 –> 00:27:11:04
Far, where was the shot?

00:27:11:04 –> 00:27:15:15
Oh, like probably a hundred. His was a hundred, 125. Mine was about a hundred and all

00:27:15:15 –> 00:27:16:21
The long range practice.

00:27:17:05 –> 00:27:34:01
Yeah. Yeah. In fact, the only thing I had to do was focus. My parallax, there were so close. It was out of focus. I went to shoot and I had a white blob with a kind of a fuzzy cross hair. And I’m like, ah, just about shot. They get I’ve had to do it. And I’m like, Nope, dial focus. Okay. He walks 10 more yards.

00:27:34:06 –> 00:27:38:12
So backpedaling a little, are these, what are these? The only sheep you guys saw?

00:27:38:29 –> 00:27:41:20
But it was opening night. So I can’t pretend like, but I

00:27:41:20 –> 00:27:41:28
Mean,

00:27:42:11 –> 00:27:42:22
Yeah,

00:27:43:05 –> 00:27:43:15
After the

00:27:43:15 –> 00:27:45:15
Trip I hadn’t seen, we never saw another sheep.

00:27:46:06 –> 00:27:47:19
Oh, you killed the herd.

00:27:48:07 –> 00:27:49:06
But I apologized

00:27:50:14 –> 00:27:51:08
It a

00:27:51:08 –> 00:27:57:24
Couple of days later when he called Jared or tech in reached him. But I said, Hey, at first I ain’t gotta apologize. We

00:27:57:24 –> 00:27:58:15
Killed, killed.

00:27:58:15 –> 00:27:59:27
Everybody killed every sheep we saw.

00:28:01:11 –> 00:28:02:06
That’s right. So

00:28:03:03 –> 00:28:07:21
Anyway, but it was some hooping and haul. It was because it was

00:28:09:14 –> 00:28:12:28
Both are great. One’s 11, one’s like eight or nine years old. And

00:28:13:00 –> 00:28:14:10
Here’s was doll. His was

00:28:14:21 –> 00:28:58:00
A little bit of fan. And has his had a black tail, a little bit of speckled black throughout just, just very lightly. Mine. Mine was pretty much pure white. I wouldn’t didn’t even have a black tail. Yeah. My ended up being older, a little bit heavier, but it was broomed about three and a half, four inches on one side, which I don’t, I don’t care about that, but he’s an old, heavy, cool Ram. And, and so we walked up to Ty’s first video video of him walking up to that, and then we got to do that to mine. And it was just weird. Cause I’ve, I’ve guided a lot of sheep hunters and I’ve never, never had two dead sheep at a scene before. I mean, never had two legal hunters at the same time on a hunt, you know, so it was different. And then I told him, I said, Hey guys, and it’s pouring again.

00:28:58:00 –> 00:29:51:19
And I’m like, I know it’s going to be a pain because they died up in this big rock pile where everything’s like basketball to, you know, even four Wheeler size rocks. It’s just, you know, a rock pile. And I said, but we gotta get these together for pictures. Cause I said, this is, and they were only like 45 yards apart. So really we got them down together and propped them up and took a bunch of pictures and just, just soaked it in. And that was, that was a long night because I mean, you take care of one round, but he can do it all over again. And, and we had enough team that we kind of go in at the same time, but had a heavy pack out that day. And you know, got back to our tents about one in the morning, got to bed about to how to mountain house. And that next day just kind of soaked it in because it like a whirlwind. We have done a death March in the next morning, went in, had all this happen and we’re just simply this all really happened and fleshed them fake, caped them out, fleshed him, took care of the meat and

00:29:52:08 –> 00:29:52:25
Ate a bunch,

00:29:53:01 –> 00:30:15:03
Ate a bunch, yea roasted all the ribs, ate a backstrap or to whole backstrap or two amongst five of us just jeez, incredible. The next morning we woke up, had some more and then we did a big push and go all the way out, back down to the river and in that day, and it was a lot, it was heavy, but it was a little easier, mostly downhill. There was some uphill, but it’s mostly downhill going out, which still just as much jungle. But

00:30:15:12 –> 00:30:18:07
Josh, did you ever get a question answered that you had for Adam?

00:30:19:04 –> 00:30:19:15
What,

00:30:19:29 –> 00:30:21:23
How much video did you take for YouTube?

00:30:22:18 –> 00:30:23:15
Quite a bit. Did

00:30:23:15 –> 00:30:24:02
You? Yeah,

00:30:26:02 –> 00:31:16:07
I’ve got plenty. The only thing I don’t have because of that sequence I described, there was no getting a spotting scope up and get to kill seeing it at a hundred yards. But, but I do have the kill scene for my Ram cam and Steve were behind us about 15 yards. And we’re up on a little bit of known Ty shot his, they, they watched him pass the gun, so they assumed, okay. One Ram died. And so he had his phone up and, and my Ram climbed high enough that the little knob in front of them, but early on, he came up and you see my Ram walk up. He’s just holding his iPhone above it, like this. He pans to me, he pans that kind of puts it down and then puts it up. Your poom, you watch it drop and just rock. And then he pans over to us, Ty and Carla and I just big hug. And so it’s pretty cool. Cool. But a lot of, a lot of incidental stuff. Yeah, I did so good.

00:31:16:16 –> 00:31:31:15
Yeah. Well, I’ve got a lot of scouting stuff for stuff I’ve been doing. Like, I don’t know. We’re trying to do better. Josh just don’t want to be yelling. Good work, giving you something to work with. If you want to see the pictures of Adams Ram check our Instagram page. Yeah. They’re awesome. Epic

00:31:31:18 –> 00:31:32:08
Underscore hunt.

00:31:32:09 –> 00:31:33:28
Yeah. Couldn’t, couldn’t be better.

00:31:34:12 –> 00:32:16:09
It’s perfect. And it just couldn’t. I mean, I, if you’ve, if you paid attention to sheep hunters over the years there on occasion, you’ll see. And in one of the magazines, you’ll see a doublet people shoot doubles. It’s usually in a group of six to 10 ramps and there’s a father, son, or father, daughter, somebody. And it happens. But, but I don’t know, that just seemed I could go 6, 8, 10 times and never have that happen again. And to have it happen was on two great Rams was, I don’t know, more than I could ask for. I mean, I know Ty feels the same way. He’s a little bit shell shocked. Cause you know, he’s you leave, you tie, you go up there and you get back in seven days and everything that happens in getting out and floating out and hiking back to a lake, you know,

00:32:16:14 –> 00:32:17:05
Logistical to

00:32:17:05 –> 00:32:22:14
Get picked out. It’s like an adventure. It’s like it isn’t just a hunt around here we go.

00:32:22:15 –> 00:32:28:23
You have had 10 days of hiking. Oh yeah. We know what I mean. I mean, you know what I mean? On top of the grind to get in and out,

00:32:29:15 –> 00:32:39:22
It could have gone for, we could still be there. I mean, our home was going to go clear to the ninth or 10th and then you had two days to hike out and get out. And so it didn’t but very lucky and just a tremendous,

00:32:41:01 –> 00:32:52:04
Here’s a question we have a little more on our question and answer and there, this one’s a pretty valid question. I guess I’ll be the question reader please, because Josh, he worried about the amount of tax. So we’ll let you go.

00:32:52:26 –> 00:32:56:19
Josh, you guys still around, you guys are still not calling this the narrator. Yeah.

00:33:00:06 –> 00:33:34:29
we just kept up with it mostly because radio, Hey, whatever. But the, this, I know you’ve had extensive, you know, knowledge and background using the inReach cause we got your own reach messages and you were able to talk to Becky I’m sure. And tell everybody, and it’s a little unnerving to be that far back in your you’re a fly to fly, to fly, to float a hike, a motor or whatever. Right? So a guy Sean GenX says, you know, got a doll sheep hunt in the Yukon book for fall 20, 23. So next year looking for an enrich or similar device to be able to text and check in at home, which make and model do you recommend?

00:33:35:29 –> 00:33:47:07
Well, I do use an inReach now. I think you Jason as well, we used to have Iridium satellite phones. I had those initially we had a couple of those between me and my brother and dad.

00:33:47:08 –> 00:33:51:12
You can’t buy enough minutes. Yeah. And you can’t dip into your retirement account.

00:33:51:22 –> 00:34:19:11
And what I, what I ended up not liking about them is is 90% of the time. I don’t have business to conduct one out there and have to have a conversation. I just need to get a message. Everything’s okay. Whatever like that. And to, to call, especially if you’re in a tent with somebody you don’t want to just, it’s usually late at night, you can just set, set out you’re in reach, get service and shoot a text out. Versus I gotta get my, get out, walk out to a Ridge, get a good satellite view

00:34:19:23 –> 00:34:20:27
And grizzling and

00:34:20:27 –> 00:34:21:12
Get a call.

00:34:22:01 –> 00:34:22:21
So

00:34:22:22 –> 00:34:30:28
For me about five years ago, I mean, I think if anybody wants my satellite phone, give me a call, make it a heck of a deal because I still got one Jason, you probably do. And I think

00:34:31:12 –> 00:34:32:04
We want to be bad,

00:34:32:11 –> 00:34:38:05
But they make an inReach mini, which is just a tiny light little, it doesn’t

00:34:38:05 –> 00:34:39:11
Really have a good keypad

00:34:39:11 –> 00:35:01:25
Or it doesn’t have a good screen. They’re a lot lighter. My guides had a couple of those. I got the full, I got the full sized one. It’s got a screen. You actually can watch the map and, and, and navigate with it a little bit. So I got that one for most of my hunts. I don’t, I’m not that concerned about that weight versus the mini wait, you know what I mean? But

00:35:02:00 –> 00:35:04:09
That’s what I run as well. It’s called the Explorer. Plus

00:35:04:26 –> 00:35:05:11
It’s a little

00:35:05:11 –> 00:35:06:14
Bit bigger. We only have to

00:35:06:23 –> 00:35:09:02
Actually text without your phone without the Bluetooth.

00:35:09:02 –> 00:35:20:07
It’s kind of a Peck, you know, it’s kind of like your old GPS, Garmin rhinos. It’s like, it’s kind of, if your phone went, if your phone went dead that’s is another reason. It’s a little bit easier to send a message out that way.

00:35:20:08 –> 00:35:23:19
It seems like the battery is probably a little bit better on the bigger one. I can’t remember it.

00:35:23:24 –> 00:35:28:08
You almost can’t run it. I use mine, the whole hunt and I still think I’m 65 or 70%

00:35:28:15 –> 00:35:34:05
Around one dead. So I did just come out with a new one. That’s like a real handheld GPS

00:35:34:05 –> 00:35:35:16
Touchscreen. Okay.

00:35:35:28 –> 00:35:36:15
Kind of deals.

00:35:36:15 –> 00:35:37:24
There’s double as a GPS.

00:35:38:10 –> 00:35:41:07
It’s a GPS where you got maps. It’s a little

00:35:41:07 –> 00:35:42:18
Bit bigger interface, but,

00:35:42:19 –> 00:36:22:14
But you use it. You use your phone, the earth mate app within the Garmin inReach app, I guess for all the, you don’t have to put a bunch of numbers in your inReach. You use use your phone contacts. The first couple of times you text somebody, you got to kind of tell them, this is, this is, this is my end reach, save this number. So they don’t think of some spam or something like that. But that’s what I would go with. If you want to use the mini Shaun, it’s just the ultimate. It’s just, it’s so little. It’s just a little relay from your phone to the satellite and back. It’s just a, an antenna. And that if you want to have one that has maybe GPS and a screen and a map by the Explorer or, or this new one, why

00:36:22:24 –> 00:36:27:03
Great for there’s a lot of stuff in Nevada. There’s stuff everywhere that has no service. Or,

00:36:27:16 –> 00:36:50:14
And that’s the other thing is down here in the lower 48. Like if you’re, if you’re out of, self-service like I’ve been up some river corridors. I can, the green river or something, hunting sheep. Well, I gotta have my phone on and whoever I want to call, it’s got to have their set phone on all the time. Well, inReach, you just hook it on. If you’re Caribbean, you did your pack and you just walk all the time. If you hear a little chime, someone’s like, oh, so that’s just, that’s just found around you. Just leave it on all day. Another

00:36:50:14 –> 00:36:51:06
Portion of the unit.

00:36:51:06 –> 00:36:51:16
Yeah.

00:36:51:19 –> 00:37:02:10
Whatever that you don’t have radio contact or cell contact. We use that a lot, you know, just to be able to, Hey, I’m going over here. I’m not going to have service all day long, but if I find something I’ll then reach, you guys do the same thing.

00:37:02:24 –> 00:37:05:27
Okay. Anybody else, Josh? I know you use the in reach.

00:37:06:09 –> 00:37:12:18
I’ve got that many and you can, yeah, you can, you can use it without your phone and you can

00:37:12:18 –> 00:37:13:18
Pre there’s some

00:37:13:27 –> 00:37:23:20
Programs, some texts. So if you have like standard now, standard 10. Yeah. But I usually just connect it to my phone and actually text through my,

00:37:23:21 –> 00:37:29:12
But you can’t text through the mini without the automated messages that are saved in it. No.

00:37:29:24 –> 00:37:41:24
Okay. Well you can, you can, it’s really cumbersome. It’s got like, you know, forward and back buttons and you’re going through the whole alphabet and tell you, so you can’t possibly in a pinch, you can do it. And the battery is really good though.

00:37:41:27 –> 00:37:42:23
Is it still? Yeah,

00:37:43:01 –> 00:37:54:10
It is really good. Little tiny. In fact, I don’t know if you know anything about my dad, but he’s six, four. The only thing he’s afraid of is the dark and you know, and so it takes us

00:37:54:10 –> 00:37:54:24
In reach to the

00:37:54:24 –> 00:38:14:27
Back. Oh no, no, no. So every time I’m gone hunting alone in the dark, he freaks out and I keep telling him, dad, I have my inReach. If I get in trouble, there’s an SOS button or you know, or I can text. But anyway, it’s just so funny. Like, you know, he’s not afraid of anything, but,

00:38:15:02 –> 00:38:40:14
And my, and my, I will say my wife likes it better because I can send her multiple messages throughout the day where if I have to think of calling her, it’s just different. And a lot of times you’re found on a mountain Ridge. I don’t want to call and talk because your voice carries. Like if you’re in the middle of a hunt, but if we’re sitting there having lunch, I turn it on and say, Hey, have a lunch. I’ll just get, you know, she likes getting and she’ll get a couple, two or three sometimes a day from me versus once every three days, if I’m calling or two days anyway,

00:38:41:07 –> 00:38:43:11
It makes us all feel better. I mean, suede

00:38:44:06 –> 00:38:45:10
To husband of the year.

00:38:45:11 –> 00:38:53:27
Yeah. Trying to get it. You’re not going to beat Wyatt. He’s thinking about Valentine’s day already. Who else out there? Just tell me who else out there is thinking about. Valentine’s already Wyatt.

00:38:54:03 –> 00:39:00:24
You guys kind of threw that on me. I certainly know I was thinking about it, but I just, I noticed the date. Didn’t overlap.

00:39:02:01 –> 00:39:02:28
Just want to know

00:39:03:05 –> 00:39:07:22
We’re all going to be lucky. Like Devin and marry a girl that’s born on Valentine’s day rock.

00:39:08:05 –> 00:39:15:22
Oh, they had an August 8th anniversary. So that, that conflicts with scouting or hunting archery, Nevada deer.

00:39:15:27 –> 00:39:16:25
You’d like to six. And

00:39:17:15 –> 00:39:52:27
On the second, something like that. What are you the sixth? Six. I’m the second gen I think forgot our anniversary this year. Jenna, if you’re listening. No, she didn’t. She, she actually hit me prior to me hitting her about it. But sometimes once in a while she forgot one time in 26 years and that set me free. They have a great relationship. So it’s kind of fun to tease her. All right. So moving on, let’s see. Question reader, guy. You can take a break from that endow stuff. Go ahead. Question reader, guy. Any other tags come up?

00:39:53:21 –> 00:39:54:18
I dunno. I dunno.

00:39:55:05 –> 00:40:00:18
This is, this is very applicable. Read this one, John, Tim, read it. Here we go. Anchor.

00:40:01:02 –> 00:40:06:11
It says, when Tim baker says, when should we start checking for Nevada sheep tags

00:40:06:23 –> 00:40:15:21
That have been returned in return? Isn’t it like 15 business days prior is kind of when they 14, they quit looking at the alternatives and they actually throw them up on the first come first serve.

00:40:16:00 –> 00:40:19:17
But his car, a couple of September desert, California,

00:40:20:21 –> 00:40:23:04
We’re eligible to get the resident only tax to

00:40:23:12 –> 00:40:27:00
So California, big horn he could have. And another week you could see what

00:40:27:00 –> 00:40:30:16
We’ll say, like a 1 73 early. You know what I mean? The arc dome earlier,

00:40:30:18 –> 00:40:37:26
I’d say just gaggle, go through the guidebook and see punt stocks. Any tag you’re interested in and just kind of count four, 14

00:40:38:26 –> 00:40:39:16
Or 14.

00:40:41:23 –> 00:40:44:10
Why was it 14 business or day?

00:40:44:10 –> 00:40:45:21
Days? 14 business days.

00:40:45:21 –> 00:40:49:11
So it’s actually could be upwards of maybe 16, 18 total days

00:40:49:24 –> 00:40:52:01
Starting November 20th. So that’d be looking. What do you think

00:40:52:01 –> 00:40:52:28
1st of November?

00:40:54:17 –> 00:40:57:25
Always the slim chance too. That it was nobody’s first choice on the alternate list.

00:40:58:03 –> 00:41:02:27
Yeah. So it has to be an alternate. Somebody that checked the box and it was their first choice

00:41:03:04 –> 00:41:07:26
Because we saw muzzle loader deer tag come up today. And the start date of that hunt isn’t till September 10th,

00:41:08:13 –> 00:41:08:19
But

00:41:08:20 –> 00:41:09:13
Oh, no guys

00:41:09:13 –> 00:41:11:12
Did. Must’ve been nobody as a first choice.

00:41:11:22 –> 00:41:13:18
What unit was it? Wasn’t it. I

00:41:14:04 –> 00:41:15:01
Can’t remember now.

00:41:15:07 –> 00:41:16:03
Not a great unit.

00:41:17:06 –> 00:41:18:02
Nobody put us up there.

00:41:18:07 –> 00:41:21:28
Two 11 to two 13 archery came up today. What else came up? Oh

00:41:21:28 –> 00:41:25:04
1, 5 0 1, 5 0 35.

00:41:25:05 –> 00:41:32:26
Yeah. So anyway, there’s a few and they’re not, people’s necessarily first choice on top of that. They must check the alternate box. Anyway. You never know what’s going to be out there.

00:41:32:26 –> 00:41:35:28
We look at the regulations, but yeah, the biggest peak is going to be

00:41:36:11 –> 00:41:40:22
Anybody. That’s not hunting, running Gilder, which it’s not.

00:41:41:00 –> 00:41:41:22
We’re going to know

00:41:41:27 –> 00:41:49:20
Most, everybody should be hunting in November, but if you’re not have that apple butter in your phone open or something and grab a sheep tag, don’t you think

00:41:50:13 –> 00:41:50:21
There’s

00:41:50:21 –> 00:41:51:11
Sheep tags. There

00:41:52:28 –> 00:41:54:20
Are seven last year, but I mean,

00:41:55:11 –> 00:41:58:01
Hey, we go, guys all have relative. We

00:41:58:01 –> 00:41:58:22
Had a story now.

00:41:59:18 –> 00:42:07:15
It was a couple of guys too that got them. And I think the end of October, early November, that’s, that’s probably when it’s going to happen for a desert,

00:42:07:19 –> 00:42:15:16
It’s tough to get tags. Now though, I want to, I am going to say, yeah, they made some changes. And so with theirs, it’s not, there is,

00:42:16:02 –> 00:42:19:25
You’ve got carte prison. Now, if you put one in your cart and decide not to

00:42:19:25 –> 00:42:21:03
Buy it, have you been in jail yet?

00:42:21:04 –> 00:42:22:11
I have not been in tact. Jail.

00:42:23:13 –> 00:42:28:08
Josh don’t buy it. Don’t buy it. They put you in prison for seven days.

00:42:28:15 –> 00:42:31:14
I think maybe if, why it leaves his desk and leaves it up. I might sneak through there.

00:42:33:05 –> 00:42:33:15
Jail

00:42:34:00 –> 00:42:34:28
Really wrote a guy’s day.

00:42:35:08 –> 00:42:48:16
Yeah. I mean, if there’s one tag and there’s two of you, that’s true. Eliminate the one up odds. It’s helping you out. What I think is funny. Bronson’s I’d like to really know what these guys would actually accept because sometimes I think they’re just looking to look

00:42:48:17 –> 00:42:49:10
Well, Wyatt,

00:42:50:09 –> 00:42:51:21
I took the tag off it last year,

00:42:52:27 –> 00:42:54:05
But it was like the best tag in the

00:42:54:06 –> 00:42:58:05
State. Would you take, Wyatt’s watching. I said, what do you really want? And he goes, I don’t know, maybe rifle.

00:42:59:20 –> 00:43:01:01
Just interesting to see what comes

00:43:01:20 –> 00:43:07:04
Is. It’s so addictive to watch it. It’s so addictive. I find myself watching it. What would I take? Nothing?

00:43:08:11 –> 00:43:13:01
Well, the only reason I’m kind of looking at it right now is I got home a week early and

00:43:13:24 –> 00:43:18:11
The screenshot and I’m like, I thought you got it this morning, but you did. I,

00:43:19:17 –> 00:43:24:18
I know, I figured I said bingo or something, but I didn’t say I got it. It just, I just said, bingo,

00:43:25:06 –> 00:43:43:29
Screenshot. What does that mean? What does, what did your mind go there? Well, I did. And I was like, I’m like, wow. Yes, go get out. Go, go, go, go. And then I’m like, well, he’s probably trying to make sure Becky’s happy. He came back from the sheep on. Maybe he’ll go by Saturday. I don’t know. Anyway. And then these guys are like, no, that was a joke.

00:43:47:23 –> 00:43:47:28
Not

00:43:47:28 –> 00:43:49:02
Mine. I wish it had got it.

00:43:49:26 –> 00:43:50:10
I was

00:43:50:10 –> 00:43:51:02
Somebody pioneers.

00:43:51:07 –> 00:43:58:02
Really good antelope tag. I’d probably buy it right now because I’ve got some time. It doesn’t open till 22nd. I’m sitting around chump. I’m ready to go.

00:43:58:06 –> 00:44:02:04
Ready to smash and grab. All right. Well, here we go. Question reader, guy.

00:44:02:08 –> 00:44:21:09
Hi. Here’s the next question? Not sure who you are apologized, but we do have your Instagram name. It modern builders, LLC. They said, how do you guys financially prepare for your hunts? Like years in advance? What are some tips to help guys who don’t necessarily make loads of money, but love the hunt. Say to love to hunt, save up for some of these haunts.

00:44:22:13 –> 00:44:45:19
This has evolved for me over the years. Definitely because we all, usually when you’re younger, newly married, maybe own kids, man. It seems tough stuff. Teams out of reach a little bit. And at that time I trap Bobcat’s and pick up elk sheds. And now it feels like if I had to save up, if I had to buy stuff without sheds right now, I’d never buy anything because there’s

00:44:45:19 –> 00:44:48:03
Nothing in place has gone

00:44:48:03 –> 00:44:52:16
Up. But like the number of sheds you actually pick up per person is like,

00:44:53:10 –> 00:44:58:14
We don’t read anybody that picks up a lot of sheds anymore. It feels like it’s just ruined out there. Yeah.

00:44:58:15 –> 00:45:14:23
Yeah. Just like it’s tough. So the extracurricular funds, that’s what I call and that’s how I justified it, at least in the old days, old days, but it’s harder now you definitely. And the cost of hunts of it just keeps going up and up and up. So yeah.

00:45:15:12 –> 00:45:15:28
Any tips?

00:45:16:04 –> 00:45:17:19
Well, I mean

00:45:18:00 –> 00:45:18:23
Most of the lawns,

00:45:19:20 –> 00:45:19:24
Right?

00:45:20:05 –> 00:45:35:19
I’d say my health is don’t don’t accept the fact that you’re not going to be able to afford everything. You’re probably not gonna be able to afford every state. So maybe prioritize some states or species or hunts tags, something like that that you really want to do. And just do whatever you can to meet.

00:45:35:21 –> 00:45:38:23
He’s talking to years in advance too. So like years in advance,

00:45:39:01 –> 00:45:43:22
I assume that he’s talking maybe a little bit bigger ticket hunts. I

00:45:43:23 –> 00:45:45:19
Mean, 20, 25 going Dall, sheep hunting, you

00:45:45:19 –> 00:45:45:26
Know,

00:45:46:00 –> 00:45:55:24
Some, some Outfitters we’ll work with you kind of play your 25% down 25% at the one year mark, get your 50 there and then 50 before the hunt. So there is those kinds of possibilities as well,

00:45:56:00 –> 00:46:00:21
Kind of a payment program, but it’s common. It’s not known as a payment program. It’s common for Outfitters.

00:46:01:09 –> 00:46:27:19
Let’s come up with tinny, jeez, up front, unless you’re doing a cancellation hunt or something that’s right now. But it’s hard. It’s a tough situation. You know, you know, you can only bite off what you and your family can chew financially and all that and prepare for without strapping things. A little bit too hard. I mean, I, I remember my first dollar sheet pump was 5,000 bucks. I had to walk into a bank because it was a cancellation, it was a true cancellation. And I had to walk into a bank to borrow 5,000,

00:46:28:17 –> 00:46:33:25
But you had also probably had a plan to pay it off. So like having to make a 30 year payment program,

00:46:34:12 –> 00:46:46:13
It was the, it was an Outfitters lodge had burned down and they, they needed money now. And if you paid all up front, they would do a half price. So the normal price was 10. K how about half price if you paid it all up front and

00:46:46:13 –> 00:46:49:07
I’m like, that’s dating that’s bad. So 10 K was, oh

00:46:49:07 –> 00:46:51:17
Yeah. Well that was 2000. And like,

00:46:51:27 –> 00:46:56:12
There you go, seven. Yeah, yeah. That’s 15 years. Ish. Yeah.

00:46:56:22 –> 00:47:07:02
Right. But, and, and, and you know, and that wasn’t a, I mean, but at the time you just, just get out of grad school, just get by. Maybe I just built a new house,

00:47:07:09 –> 00:47:08:11
Trying to stay married.

00:47:08:11 –> 00:47:24:13
5k felt like 50 K right then just because of situations. But I mean, within a year I paid it off or whatever, but I just, they had to have the money wired to them within a week. It’s like, you know, stuff had to happen. So there’s situations where that hits you. But I don’t know. I guess, you know, I, I had

00:47:25:18 –> 00:47:26:00
Everybody

00:47:26:00 –> 00:47:27:19
Has a different out a little bit. Yeah.

00:47:28:01 –> 00:47:53:19
It has a different lot in life too. I think, you know, like how your marital marital relationship, how are things, you know, will she, could you work an extra job? Could you work more hours? We all have a good fortunate times, maybe more of a tax refund one year who knows? Right? Like there’s things that happened bugs. I don’t know. You know, I mean, if you’re a hunter Biden, you can just, you know, Rob Peter to pay Paul, he’s got so many businesses going on and you just pay whatever it’s going to come somewhere.

00:47:53:21 –> 00:47:55:05
And we lost the podcast.

00:47:57:00 –> 00:48:16:22
Well, I mean, Hey, I mean, you know, he could weigh some, some substances a little bit different, maybe save a few bucks there. But anyway, I’m just saying generally speaking, there’s something out there. I mean, we all, we were dealing with this Wyatt, you know why it’s got pre-marriage money saved and stored.

00:48:17:16 –> 00:48:20:29
Folgers can see he’s even forgetting where the Folgers cans are buried.

00:48:21:06 –> 00:48:24:19
I think he is the idea of glove vacuum sealed

00:48:25:08 –> 00:48:26:25
Bachelorhood for a long time.

00:48:28:12 –> 00:48:28:23
Well,

00:48:29:07 –> 00:48:31:10
Bachelorette and bachelor. So anyway,

00:48:31:17 –> 00:48:39:28
It’s got a fun, we tease Y and his wife she’s got, she’s got, she’s very, been very financially stay stable prior to marriage too. And so anyway, we liked

00:48:40:29 –> 00:49:09:21
And yeah, you know, other jobs is probably what I’ve had to do the most. So, you know, I guided, I started guiding, I guided, but I got to the stuff I wanted a guide. So that had an interest in it, maybe sheep and big meal there. But even when I had a job that maybe right now, I’m a little bit with Jason Jones blessing. I’m a little bit more of my own boss, so to speak. But in the past, when I had like a set vacation, all that, yeah, you can’t just say, Hey, I’m picking three months off guide and to save money, to go hunting. I mean, that’s not practical.

00:49:09:27 –> 00:49:14:15
The guiding money helps with the lawn and garden. And then part of it might be able to put it

00:49:15:06 –> 00:49:48:22
Not as much your budget money, because your budget money usually is pretty, pretty allocated, but I don’t know, find something like that. And, and, and, and, and like Josh said, you gotta prioritize. If you, if you have a huge list, don’t get overwhelmed and say, I can’t do all those. You just got to bite them off one at a time. And the ones that are most important to you, or if some of them like a sheep hunt or something, I’d probably elevate them higher because you want to do that with the better body. And you can probably hunt a moose or other things like that. Or even a brown bear later in life. If, if something like that on your, on your bucket list.

00:49:49:02 –> 00:50:19:13
Well, yeah, we get some cancellations here and there. Like Adam had a half price or come up, even though it seems like a tiny amount of money back then it wasn’t a dollar was a real dollar back then. It felt like. And so anyway, there’s things that come up and you might want to just be able to have a, an attitude of taking a risk and jumping on stuff. When it, when it does feel like this is a once in a lifetime deal channel loves it. When I say this is I once in a lifetime hunt, don’t all women like that. They love that. But anyway, and John, I think like you built websites on the side, like you did work on the side. Yeah.

00:50:19:25 –> 00:50:51:26
Everybody has a little bit of expertise, Wyatt. I know you’ve got it a lot through all of your other jobs. You’ve had Josh too a little bit as well. I mean, I know you do that. I mean, that’s maybe a natural for several of us in here because it’s kind of what we like to do. And you take a week or two off here, make a, make some money guide and some pips to, you know, play with. And we joke about mowing lawns, but I got a neighbor who Mo’s lawns on the side. It makes dang near pretty much what he makes his regular job. I mean, nowadays it’s

00:50:52:06 –> 00:51:09:25
Well, there’s a will. There’s a way if you’re just going to work your regular 40 and you have a regular day job, so it’s hard to get her going to work your day, regular 40 and your wife doesn’t want you working extra, eh, not going to lie. It’s going to be hard, hard to afford a, a sheep hunt, so to speak or brown bear, some bigger ticket item.

00:51:11:04 –> 00:51:15:20
And let’s see you’re 20. It’s hard to imagine you’re going to make more money, but you

00:51:15:20 –> 00:51:16:29
Are, you are, you

00:51:16:29 –> 00:51:32:20
Know, you’re, you’re in your twenties. We’ve all been to that point. So I just wish I could just out of reach. It’s never going to happen, but just be disciplined during that stretch. So you don’t dig yourself so big of a hole that when stuff is good, you just got to pay a bunch of stuff off. But

00:51:32:24 –> 00:52:03:26
My dad used to say, say, you know, buy the most, you can absolutely afford in a house. So to speak, you know, buy the most, you could absolutely afford it stretches you to the max, but your wage is going to increase over the course of your life. And so, you know, your house is going to appreciate also with inflation and everything else going on. And so as, as that goes along, you know, it’ll work itself out, but you cannot see it when you’re 20 and you can’t see that you can’t even imagine. You’re just like, all I know is I’m stressed, I’m stressed, you know,

00:52:04:26 –> 00:52:12:07
But one of the things you should do when you’re 20, cause you can’t make up time is apply where you can get points and, and start doing,

00:52:12:14 –> 00:52:15:25
Make it happen. Yeah. We wrote credit card checks. I wrote credit card checks

00:52:16:02 –> 00:52:16:19
Lived on those

00:52:17:01 –> 00:52:38:00
And you know, Janet is still thanks me for it to this day. It’s whatever. Hey, Hey, it is what it is. Right. As an investment in my personal self. So, all right, let’s move on. Question reader, guy. Are we good on this? Are we good on this making money, Josh? How’d you do it? How do you, how do you afford and a few extra things here and there. Do you have any other advice?

00:52:38:07 –> 00:52:42:21
Yeah. Just doing everything you can on the side, maybe saving where you can try. And I thought

00:52:46:21 –> 00:52:47:15
The sugar mama.

00:52:49:08 –> 00:52:53:06
Try and find you one of those, I suppose that helps.

00:52:54:19 –> 00:52:54:29
All right.

00:52:55:06 –> 00:53:01:20
Try and reign yourself in once. Let’s just, I mean, strictly hypothetical, all of a sudden, a bunch of guns roll into the office, you know,

00:53:07:05 –> 00:53:13:25
You have to, and everybody’s so willing to spend yours for you. You kind of have to learn them ready, reign yourself. I’ve got six of those. Maybe I

00:53:13:25 –> 00:53:16:23
Don’t just PRC fan, but we’re on

00:53:16:23 –> 00:53:21:17
That topic. I just going to say, while we’re on that topic, we do have fierce rifles in

00:53:21:17 –> 00:53:36:20
Stock and we’re kind of talking about why, why it got a great one. He kind of did a, I wouldn’t call it a full custom motor, but just the, the scheme, obviously the caliber, the scheme, the stock, the color bandits, a sharp look at gun. And there was a couple others that came by. They’re very similar to it. So

00:53:36:26 –> 00:53:54:09
We haven’t stuck that stuck his name on this morning. Josh got stuck his name on pretty soon. I’m like, whoa, I need one. Give me a couple of and Adam’s got a shotgun or two that rolled in and I’m like, I need a shotgun. What do I need a shotgun for? I got five of them, but yes, you’re right. I do. In fact order me to

00:53:55:03 –> 00:54:06:24
So yeah, but we do, if you, we got, I don’t know, a handful in stock and more coming in. It’s the hunts. If you want something it’s not too late and we’ve got scopes, you want to top them with something Zeiss before be six something. Yeah.

00:54:06:25 –> 00:54:35:01
It’s another thing. Save money where you can, I had a guy call in today actually, and was talking about a swirl scope for his two 70. And I’m like, you know, don’t know that you necessarily need to spend real big money. Here’s another alternative. And you know, it’s going to be awesome. It’s going to be the 700 yard gun you’re looking to get. And so maybe you’ve saved a little bit where it makes sense and then spend when it makes sense. And of course we can help you with that. We love spending money frugally carefully. All right.

00:54:35:06 –> 00:54:46:22
Yeah. Well, the next question kind of goes along with what we were just wrapping up. Oh. And Nicholas asked us if you could go back and give a piece of advice, a hunting advice or application advice to your 20 year old self, what would it be? I mean, we can talk about it a little bit, but

00:54:47:19 –> 00:54:53:21
Some of these that we can’t do anything about. One of which was I would’ve started Wyoming sheep points a few years earlier,

00:54:54:03 –> 00:54:54:26
Kept them going

00:54:55:26 –> 00:56:16:17
Because it was a guaranteed tag. If you had done it as a 20 year old, but it goes back to what we’re just talking about as a 20 year old or 24 or three or two, whatever. I think I was 23 or four and I got married. I mean, you’re only can do what you can do and in hindsight’s, you know, difficult to have, but there’s a couple of those that I wish I had back, but really, I guess maybe not as much as there’s a couple of those individuals regrets, I wish I would have done, but to any 20 year olds out there listening right now within reason, try to get points where you think as many as you can, you know, in the states that have say deer, deer, elk, you know, antelope, you know, maybe add the sheep on the side, those that, that maybe strappy a little bit, but hopefully it grow into that ability to be able to lose that discretionary income. But then you have five or 10 points built up when that, so all of a sudden, not as big of a deal to you, that’s probably what I’d say, stretch yourself as much as you can. We all understand there’s families. There’s your, family’s more important than points your situation, finances and all that. But stretch yourself a little bit. That’s what I was telling you. Younger generation. Because if you wait till you’re 30, 35, when you can afford it while they’re just 15 years gone and 15 years, a lot of points.

00:56:17:21 –> 00:56:22:12
Yeah. Anybody, anybody else I agree with that. I don’t, I don’t like questions like this.

00:56:23:19 –> 00:56:24:22
What would tell it’s hard?

00:56:24:22 –> 00:56:36:20
Like you’re 20, you just barely done crap in yellow. You know what I mean? Like you’re just getting going. You’re just getting going. Like, it’s hard to say you don’t have two nickels to rub together. You don’t really, you know,

00:56:37:04 –> 00:56:44:06
Hard to tell you to just do it when you can’t just go put gas in your truck or groceries. It’s it’s hard. But

00:56:44:27 –> 00:57:14:14
I like what Adam said, get trashed like that, like apply everywhere you can apply. I wouldn’t say go out and go on a doll sheep hunt. Let no, let, let uncle Sam figure out how to take care of the debt. Like I’m not, I’m not promoting that. And I think it’s smart to make good financial decisions for a family, not just your selfish hunting self. And then for 20, I we’ve learned a lot about hunting since we were 20. And so it’s like, I would like to take the wisdom I have now and put it into a 20 year old body.

00:57:15:08 –> 00:57:16:25
The hunting wisdom would be a cool

00:57:16:29 –> 00:57:37:04
Would be cool. Like if I knew then what I know now about all these Nevada units. Oh, disgusting. We’d rewrite the right record book. And I think that about all the places we’ve hunted. And then I will tell you this as time goes along hunting and the quality of game is not getting better. It’s consistently going down

00:57:37:12 –> 00:57:49:06
The Arizona over the counter. Yeah. Archery gear. When we can do that every year, older deer hunt, you guys have Utah for the first handful of years, it was just there’s things that went away. And now that’s a limited entry hunt in Utah.

00:57:49:13 –> 00:58:07:26
I do think I’m watching kids that are 20 driving brand, new Tacomas, K to 40 mid forties, upper $40,000 type trucks. And I just, I do think you can buy grandpa trucks that are lightly used for a deal. If you watch KSL, Craigslist, all these different places and just really

00:58:08:11 –> 00:58:09:19
Take care of your finances,

00:58:09:19 –> 00:58:38:29
Somehow you’re going to pay, you’re going to pay interest on the money. Like just back, I think be careful financially. So you do what people aren’t willing to do now. So you can do what people can’t do in the future. I think that little theory hold strong for your, for being able to hunt and do the things you want to do 20 years from now, 25, 30 years from now, whatever it is, if you’re 20. So I don’t know. I think more financial. I would tell myself more financial stuff and I don’t know. What do you guys think?

00:58:39:28 –> 00:58:40:22
Right track there.

00:58:41:11 –> 00:58:53:00
I’d say enjoy your physical abilities before when you hit 40, it’s like you hit a wall and it’s, it’s a lot more difficult to do stuff. And then you hit 45 and it’s another wall. And then yeah, so

00:58:53:16 –> 00:59:51:13
I’ve had guys that are losing their physical abilities. One actually yesterday, today. And I don’t want to name them out loud, but if something happened in their life and now they can see where there’s a potential, they won’t be able to do some of the hunts they want to do. And so they’re booking it now also to give them, you know, I would say enthusiasm for recovery. Yeah. Like I’ve got a hunt to look forward to. I’m going to recover from this. And there’s just, there’s real things that happen in life. Let’s call it cancer or heart attacks, but it could be accidents. There’s things, Josh, you’re driving over here. You’ve seen crazy stuff on here. Little drive wrecks, you know, guys, wrecking motorbikes or wheels coming off or whatever. Right. You never know when this stuff happens to you. You know? So I’m not saying go out and hunt everything you dreams ever you ever dreamt about. But, but don’t, don’t forget to enjoy a few things. That’s for sure. Right, John, is that what you’re saying? That’s what I’m saying long and short, long, short,

00:59:51:29 –> 01:00:21:00
And that, you know, won’t ever, yeah. I’m not going to add to anything, but yes. I mean, we’ve had, we’ve talked about them before. There’s there’s sobering things. We all have individuals in our lives that have had sobering things happening to them prematurely or out of nowhere. And Hey, you’re one, you’re one bad misstep or diagnosis or something away. If something, and, and I don’t, I’m not telling us all the live afraid of that, but I mean just boom, when you can do do it, when you can

01:00:21:00 –> 01:00:22:01
Do it, that you’re not,

01:00:22:25 –> 01:00:23:16
We’re not going to be doing

01:00:23:20 –> 01:00:58:29
Invincible. That’s right. So I’d kill some of the deer. That’d be passed over the years. There’s a few that I look back and I’d have killed him dead, dead, dead, and ate them and taxidermied them. But whatever. So I’d kill more up to I’d look at some of the things that we didn’t value and somehow get more elk tags when the elk were awesome, knowing that the elk weren’t going to be awesome forever. They’re going to cycle. But you know, when you’re young, it’s kind of like your life. You’re invincible. The elk are invincible. These big elk are going to be around forever and that’s just not true.

01:00:59:20 –> 01:01:30:28
So we were talking about it just the other day, about a few years back. Not that long ago, 15, 16, 14, 15, 16, somewhere around there. No, I was younger. Not that much younger, but still I always, I kind of thought, well, this is getting great. Like the hunting, it’s just going to get better, better if it’s this good. Now it’s going to be this much better later. And it didn’t, didn’t stick around. And I wish I would’ve went in a hundred percent more things instead of there’s always next season or during the archery seasonal, I got my muzzle. Loader is coming up next or whatever. Do what you can. Why it’s there in your hand?

01:01:31:04 –> 01:01:33:18
Yeah. Like it. Okay. Question. Ready to go. Here we go.

01:01:33:29 –> 01:01:47:19
All right. Brett Miller asks for desert big horn sheep in Utah or any other Western state. Is it best to cover country glassing for short periods of time? Or is it more like cous hunting deer and sitting behind the good glass in one spot for long periods of time?

01:01:49:11 –> 01:01:52:24
Well, I guess I’ll qualify that. I guess I started talking. I don’t

01:01:52:24 –> 01:01:53:24
Know what jump in.

01:01:54:13 –> 01:01:54:24
Just

01:01:54:28 –> 01:01:56:02
You’ve done a lot of it. When I,

01:01:57:15 –> 01:02:26:14
When I know I’m in an area, that’s got sheep. I, I sit I’m and I’ll sit there for half of the day, all the time. There’s so many little cuts and creases that sheep can be in that they just right under you. Especially if I’ve, if during that first couple of hours of glassing, I’m picking up, you can’t always see tracks, but I usually try to retract. So like in the clay that the dirt, the side Hills you’ll see tracking, I even up in the Yukon, I was telling the guys I’m like, they’re here somewhere. There’s tracks up.

01:02:27:02 –> 01:02:29:00
She’ll remember the trails from years of

01:02:29:00 –> 01:03:23:16
Use. And I, and it ran so much. I can see, I can see four to six tracks on this. I knew there was sheep there. Similarly, when I’m in a canyon and I’m seeing stuff in the clay or the talus, and now I understand this is not universal ever, but Southern Utah, the red dirt in the deserts, or even some of the clay that we have, you can see tracks real well, I know there’s are sheep there and I’ll sit more like accused deer. I’ll I’ll generally on a, on a Southern Utah area. I’ll sit for half the day and then I’ll move. And then I’ll sit another spot for the, the second half of the day. And that’s, that’s what I do. I don’t now there’s other areas that I guess if you’re on a four where the right, and it goes through the heart of great sheep country, you can stop and glass stop and glass the whole way through that. Not I’ve done that in G popped out of my side-by-side or truck and just keep hitting a face every two miles. But, but most of the, like if I’m, if I’m in a good area, I’ll sit more like a duke.

01:03:23:23 –> 01:03:28:02
Well, it seems like to you hunt those mid day, like

01:03:28:02 –> 01:03:28:08
Mid

01:03:29:02 –> 01:03:33:24
Afternoon, mid day, they’re up and about there. You’re sweating your guts out. They’re happening.

01:03:33:28 –> 01:03:37:27
I like deer and elk where they go in the timber and you don’t see them for six hours during the day. Right.

01:03:37:29 –> 01:03:50:17
If you’ve got a late start, it’s not the end of the world. You feel like on sheep hunting, you know, whereas deer and elk, if you miss the first half hour, you feel like you’ve ruined the whole day. You’re off. Wouldn’t you say what? Right. You’ve missed the first half hour.

01:03:51:05 –> 01:03:51:27
No. In the mornings.

01:03:52:17 –> 01:04:02:22
It’s most important. That’s right. I’m teasing Wyatt a little bit. No, I mean, I feel like I can’t remember the last, the first half hour I’ve ever missed. I feel guilty if I

01:04:02:22 –> 01:04:03:12
Know. Yeah,

01:04:03:13 –> 01:04:05:18
But sheep and you feel guilty when you’re not on it.

01:04:06:12 –> 01:04:25:25
It doesn’t really go in like up here where we’re just hunting. I mean, the Yukon, I mean, you could, you could shoot something at 1130 at night. Yeah. I mean, we got back to our tents at one in the morning. I never need to use the headlamp. So my point is you, you can go to bed for like four hours. You can’t get up. You can’t hunt for 20 hours a day. You’ll wear out. So

01:04:27:02 –> 01:04:28:15
You’re just constantly working on

01:04:28:15 –> 01:04:46:00
It. Yep. And the sheep are a little bit different because they are up and down more throughout the day. His second part of that question, Brett is a notice go round through them. What’s your guys’ opinions on the best. Do it all hunting caliber for Western big game, 2 43. Come on

01:04:47:06 –> 01:05:00:21
22 to my relatives. I skilled board. Dear 22, 22 50. Well, it’s hard to say everybody’s got their opinion, but somebody, bunch of people were buying six fives this morning. So go ahead.

01:05:01:16 –> 01:05:12:25
I love that caliber. Now. I love it for like sheep. Sheep are not generally, they’re tough. Don’t get me wrong. But they’re, they’re not like an elk or something like that. 6,500 a month.

01:05:13:08 –> 01:05:13:23
They’re going to die.

01:05:15:15 –> 01:05:35:24
And an antelope of course, and rifle, deer I’ve even been packing mine. I mean, I’ve killed several my last year with my 65, but I, you couldn’t, it wouldn’t be my first go-to on an ALK. I would probably go with a seven or a 28 just because the three hundreds, which are awesome, man. They’re big for sheep and stuff. Like

01:05:35:25 –> 01:05:47:00
I don’t care, man. I smashed, Hey, Colton smashed his antelope with a 3 30, 8 wrong. Okay. The first animal that, that gun killed and it was awesome. It died right

01:05:47:00 –> 01:05:49:08
Away. Didn’t even hit it. It just threw it to the ground.

01:05:50:12 –> 01:06:04:14
Hey, hold the lungs is a hole in the lungs. No meat was wasted. I, I personally like a 300 round. I don’t know why. And you can tone them down. I’ve got some of them that’ll shoot a 180 at 3,100 feet, a second. Some of shoot, 33 50, you know, like that’s cruising.

01:06:05:08 –> 01:06:08:27
I’ve got one of those too. And I like it. I just, they’re not as fun to shoot

01:06:09:10 –> 01:06:09:17
Right.

01:06:10:13 –> 01:06:14:20
When you don’t need it, like, right. But, so I don’t know. Right. What do you think? Why

01:06:14:23 –> 01:06:16:21
I shoot the seven Remington. Mag?

01:06:18:27 –> 01:06:24:29
Not an ultra. Nope. Just kind of a chill. A little bit chilled out, but it’s awesome. Still you guys, you smash your moose with

01:06:25:00 –> 01:06:28:05
Yeah, that’s what I shot. My moose with Devin has the exact same gun as mine.

01:06:28:14 –> 01:06:28:24
And

01:06:29:02 –> 01:06:30:14
What do you have John? Oh,

01:06:30:25 –> 01:06:43:01
For years I used that 300 old. True for everything. And I’m talking antelope and yeah, they had like softball size holes and just anymore. I’m a big fan of having multiple guns and it’s all I got a 65 I use now.

01:06:43:15 –> 01:06:46:12
Yeah. Josh, I know you got a six, five, but do you have,

01:06:46:26 –> 01:06:51:04
I had a seven mm, short mag that I used before primarily. And it’s the same thing.

01:06:51:07 –> 01:06:52:09
What you use on shanks?

01:06:53:05 –> 01:06:53:23
Six, five.

01:06:54:00 –> 01:07:05:07
Oh yeah. Yep. Kills Kyle’s too. Hey, I shot that one. Well, long shot and 30 yards,

01:07:05:14 –> 01:07:10:04
Any memes made for us to, we better clarify that it’s the six, five PRC. Not the,

01:07:10:10 –> 01:07:21:01
Yeah, I will. You know, I have my kids creed Moore’s in there. Just, I don’t feel like you can get a, like a little bit of a heavier slug and a little more powder. Just a little more. I that’s why I liked that PRC

01:07:22:02 –> 01:07:29:19
And I, and I got one of those too, for one of my daughters before the PRC was even patched and born and bred, but I’ve got four C’s

01:07:29:19 –> 01:07:31:24
Now I need a 65. I don’t know why.

01:07:32:09 –> 01:07:37:07
Well, they’re just like, I call them the little kit guns. You’ve seen some of these things, all of them,

01:07:37:11 –> 01:07:43:27
But little kid, it stops me. I get stopped. When you say little kid I’m blowing by it, going to the big man gun.

01:07:44:10 –> 01:07:45:15
They don’t need it.

01:07:45:17 –> 01:07:46:16
I think that’s why I went with

01:07:46:16 –> 01:08:16:26
The gun. The gun, my guns are way the same as yours. And I’m thinking I’ve got a 30 Cal. I don’t see it, but five times a year, whatever. It kills everything at points at well, pretty close last year, first time I ever missed anything ever in my life with a rifle ever, ever my whole life. So anyway, might be my in fact, I’ll just take one of those I’ll take, but I want, I don’t know how much I can tease Wyatt, but the, the it’s a Wyatt. Take this with a grain of salt. You

01:08:16:26 –> 01:08:17:23
Going to bring up the antelope?

01:08:18:00 –> 01:08:26:21
No. Okay. Go ahead. So a good, good, good gauge of a great round would be, you know, one shot kills

01:08:27:10 –> 01:08:27:24
Or do you mean

01:08:28:08 –> 01:08:32:04
One shot kills? How many? Well, like if he killed his moose with one shot,

01:08:32:23 –> 01:08:33:12
With one shot, what

01:08:33:12 –> 01:08:36:08
About Devin? Well, that was not here. We can tell you

01:08:36:17 –> 01:08:37:28
If there’s one of the horn. I mean, you’re the

01:08:37:28 –> 01:08:41:18
Only one that witnessed it. All right.

01:08:41:18 –> 01:08:43:09
So warning shot though. What

01:08:43:09 –> 01:08:45:06
Did you want to talk about on your analog? Go

01:08:45:06 –> 01:08:47:05
Ahead for now. Let’s talk about this

01:08:47:05 –> 01:08:52:17
Next one. But I think part of it is if the bullet would have hit the animal, it would have died. So it’s not,

01:08:52:18 –> 01:08:53:16
It’s plenty of good.

01:08:53:16 –> 01:08:54:29
Wasn’t the seven. That was the

01:08:54:29 –> 01:08:56:10
Problem. It was maybe there was a problem.

01:08:56:15 –> 01:09:01:18
And I think more or less when you’ve got a giant standing in front of you guys has a tendency to get well,

01:09:02:05 –> 01:09:06:26
Were you a little excited last year? Yeah. Yeah. And Hey, if you don’t get that,

01:09:07:15 –> 01:09:17:07
You start quilting, but I still get excited every time. I always get excited after you start shaking and cough and I cough like crazy. But anyway,

01:09:17:23 –> 01:09:34:20
I think it’s just to get a gun that you’re comfortable with, you know, as big as you can, but you’re comfortable with, it’s not, you’re not going to be nervous of a recoil or anything like that. Y’all get a good, comfortable gun. That’s why I liked that 65 PRC. I can shoot it. My wife, my kids, anybody could shoot it and I can just hand it to them. And they’re not going to be afraid of it.

01:09:34:29 –> 01:09:56:23
A lot of times I find myself on elk. I, I hunt elk with a bow more than I helped with a rifle. I mean, sometimes because of my season dates, New Mexico, sometimes you do in the October stuff. So I, I don’t when I say all around 90% of all, what I hunt with a rifle, there’s sheep, antelope and deer. So the six, five, or a two or a seven. Mm. For

01:09:57:22 –> 01:09:57:28
Makes

01:09:57:28 –> 01:10:08:23
Sense. My 300 room, I have I’ve shot a moose with it. I’ve shot elk with it. My boy shot his elk with a Thompson long range gun last year. Yeah. Awesome setup. So, anyway, anyway,

01:10:09:21 –> 01:10:10:24
I like, I

01:10:10:24 –> 01:10:13:25
Can’t just, I guess the answer, you can’t just have one gun, right?

01:10:15:16 –> 01:10:19:07
It is seven. Even if you, even, if you think you have enough, you don’t. So

01:10:19:29 –> 01:10:34:14
I like those something to be said, even Ashley. So I’ve got to shoot in a 300 rum. And because I, Hey, Hey, 3,100 feet, a second it’s tame. She doesn’t even feel it. It’s got to break. But I think part of it is like, I’ve got the dyes, you know,

01:10:35:15 –> 01:10:38:28
And you reload for the same animal for all four or five of you guys. Right?

01:10:39:04 –> 01:10:50:20
Similar to what? Like you buy an animal like you, Hey, one stop shop. Yeah. And now I go to my reloading room. I know I have 180 occupants. I’ve got a tumble. I’ve got crap. Loads of primers. I’m I’m

01:10:50:20 –> 01:10:58:07
You just set that on a hot mic that you have lots of kroners. I’ve read them both. Sit

01:10:58:07 –> 01:11:12:03
Here. It’s heavily guarded. Y’all all right. So anyway, let’s move along. Whatever I tease wide a little bit. I don’t know why. I just like teasing you a bit. I don’t know Josh. I’ve got some more stuff for Josh coming up.

01:11:13:17 –> 01:11:14:13
So the

01:11:14:13 –> 01:11:15:13
Nevada texts showing

01:11:15:13 –> 01:11:40:10
Up right now, nothing. These next two questions. I think we’re going to answer them at the same time. This is Justin Cardone. I apologize. I probably butchered your name and Dave Johnson, essentially. Dave’s asking us what kind of an arrow or broadheads arrow set up. We’ve fit. We feel like we’d like and use. And then as well, Justin’s kind of ask an arrow and Broadhead combination and all our thoughts on,

01:11:40:10 –> 01:12:10:07
I liked the fixed personally, but geez, I mean, not like I’ve killed just bucket, you know, truckloads of animals per se, but I have killed some, a few big deer with them. I just liked the, I liked the fixed, you know, I’m shooting a grim grim Reaper, hunter grain, you know, inch and 16 cut just there, kind of a low-profile fixed. They shoot. Awesome. They perform awesome. I mean, that’s currently, you know, kind of the broad heads set up on music. How about you guys?

01:12:11:08 –> 01:13:02:03
I’ve always been a fixed. I mean, there’s obviously way more options today than there wasn’t. We started hunting with like bear razor heads and stuff like that. But I always remember some of the demonstrations on the cut on impact broadheads of penetrating height and stuff, ways easier than, you know, some of the chisel pointed, you know, mechanical is the reason those around as they fly, like a field point, let’s face it, but they’ve also have come a long way in terms of what, how they perform and how repetitive and how dependent layer they are. So I use a trophy takers shuttle T it’s a smaller profile, a hundred Graner, but it doesn’t have any, you know, holds cut into the blades. So I think they’re quieter, you know, than those that have big.

01:13:02:25 –> 01:13:05:10
Yeah, there is. So, as we said, with the way they forced one,

01:13:06:06 –> 01:13:50:07
But I’ve been, it’s been, I’ve never like shot something, even hitting them bone that I thought this brought it, this just, I was under broad headed with what I shot. And I’m not saying you make a perfect shot with everything, or unfortunately I’ve lost animals, just probably like most bowhunters, but that was my air, not the broadheads. So that’s what I’ve used. And, but it comes down to they, they fly great. I do have to have a slight adjustment when I put my broad heads on versus fill points. Some people don’t like that at all. They want them to fly exactly to me as long as the slight adjustment. And then it’s right on. I don’t mind slightly changing my size, but that’s just me. I mean, they grouped great. They just, they just shoot slightly different in my field points, but they grouped grade. So,

01:13:50:17 –> 01:14:04:05
So basically, you know, part of it is, do you think the mechanicals are just as deadly as the fixed, considering the new bows are fast and people are paying attention to the weight and set up and, and yeah, they, yeah, I’m sure they are just as deadly. I think just don’t

01:14:04:13 –> 01:14:04:22
Use

01:14:04:22 –> 01:14:07:02
A personal preference. What about you guys?

01:14:07:04 –> 01:14:31:03
I actually, I shot fixed broadheads my whole life until last year we got that new bow and right then I switched over and shot mechanicals because I just couldn’t get to the right grouping. I wanted out of the fixed broadheads. So I switched over shot mechanicals. They ended up shooting. Awesome. Just right off the shoot, I shot the dead mate. Okay. And that’s where I took my Nevada elk with. And I was way impressed with the penetration, with the hole that was abroad,

01:14:31:12 –> 01:14:32:18
By the way, whoever

01:14:32:18 –> 01:14:35:23
Did me dead meat. They have to make

01:14:35:23 –> 01:14:36:14
Out of that to

01:14:37:14 –> 01:14:38:22
Meghan meat, which is

01:14:41:12 –> 01:14:44:07
It looked a little too serious, but I’m sure you guys are putting holes in animals.

01:14:45:04 –> 01:14:59:29
That would be me 300, 3 38 row. Well, so anyway, and that was no joke why you smashed that bull? I don’t want, we don’t have to say it out loud on a podcast, but you, you practiced at long range and ended up sink in that sucker right in the heart.

01:15:00:00 –> 01:15:10:19
Yeah. Super, super impressed with how it penetrated almost entirely through the bowl. It got stopped by the offside shoulder, but it did go through the offsite shoulder before it stopped. So it was good. It was pretty, pretty awesome.

01:15:11:15 –> 01:15:12:16
All right, Josh, what are you?

01:15:13:00 –> 01:15:26:03
I have, I shoot that. It’s this just a fixed blade. Like you guys are saying, that’s a slick trick. It’s a pretty small, small diameter, a little four blade. It’s got a, a little mild chiseled tip on it. And so

01:15:26:20 –> 01:15:27:01
I don’t know,

01:15:27:01 –> 01:16:25:04
It’s the same thing. It’s kind of like a Muzzy, but a significantly smaller, but it’s habit impressed, killed deer elk antelope with all three of it. You know, and I, I know I was, I was really impressed when I shot my elk a couple of years ago is a quartering away shot at, went in and it hit a rib when it went in. So the first thing it did is it went through some, hiding, her rib, broke that rib and went all the way through him and actually went through the opposite shoulder and was poking it, almost poked out the skin. You know, it almost came out and I, when I went up and got up to it, I just couldn’t believe it. And it was quite a considerable shot. It was, you know, 60 something yards. And, and I don’t shoot on that bow. I wasn’t shooting 80 pounds, nothing like that. Do you think you’d have to really drive one through, it was like 65 pounds and got plenty of penetration. Bull went like 50, 60 yards and he was done for it. So, yeah. I don’t know. I think a lot of guys get pretty crazy about all this stuff. They got FFC these day out and there’s a lot of Aero nerds out there. I guess.

01:16:25:20 –> 01:16:44:17
I like, I think part of it is there’s a lot of guys that don’t reload, you know, for rifles to like, so you know what I mean? But they, they still shoot. Right. And so, you know, you know, things have come a long ways. We’ve also got good friends that are really good at tuning bows and making up a great arrow set up anyway. So

01:16:45:09 –> 01:17:00:11
I think, and the thing is too, you’re you’re not going to be able to get a bow and an arrow and shoot the same thing all the time. It changes. There’s some bows it’s like, it’s just even rifles, there’s rifles, elect different kinds of bullets and stuff. You’ve just got to find what that bow likes and what shoots best. And it’s going to take a little time.

01:17:01:13 –> 01:17:09:19
Okay. We’ve got anything else to add? No, that’s about it. All right. Okay. Sounds good. Moving on.

01:17:10:07 –> 01:17:17:22
Scott’s asking what is the best pro tripod for a swirl 85 or 95 spotter when weight is primary priority, like all the sheep.

01:17:17:24 –> 01:17:24:19
Oh man. We’ve got some ones right here in the office, Bronx and there actually your brother got one. I grabbed one, my wife grabbed one today.

01:17:25:18 –> 01:17:26:06
I got one.

01:17:26:09 –> 01:17:30:12
Yeah, there, we made sure we got paid from her, but anyway,

01:17:31:03 –> 01:17:36:06
She had us work on the optics department. This morning was working Jana’s expense.

01:17:36:08 –> 01:17:46:04
It was, yeah, it was amazing. She did. She bought an SLC adapter makers, the stud her NL twelves. I didn’t know she was bringing them in, brings him in. Hey, I want to put a stutter. Jeez.

01:17:46:06 –> 01:17:48:08
Over my shoulder. Makes sure I’m doing it right. Oh,

01:17:48:27 –> 01:17:49:22
She’s not joke.

01:17:50:18 –> 01:17:55:24
And did you tell her, say, yeah, drop it off and you know, come back in a couple of hours,

01:17:57:07 –> 01:18:02:26
We got take a number. So no, it’s awesome. But anyway,

01:18:03:02 –> 01:18:47:09
The one thing about that too, when you talk about a swirl 85 or 95 spotter, that there’s pretty big difference in an 85 and a 95 in terms of weight and a, and a sheet punt, you can’t go ultra lightweight on a tripod with a 95. In my experience that they’ll hold it in dead calm. You’re fine. But if you get some wind and all that, which I I’ve done a lot out on, on points and all that as we all have on sheep or type places where the winds blow and you’re out on a cliff and all that, you’re just going to have a lot of bounce. And if you’re willing to accept that, okay. Cause we do have small ones, you know, Revvit makes a nice, tiny little great backpack and tripod. We took one of those with us on this, on the sheep, on

01:18:49:15 –> 01:18:57:23
And that’s the ones that I was thinking about. The Janet grabbed, I grabbed your brother and they’re short, but yet they’ll they got the double center column. And so you can stand up

01:18:58:15 –> 01:19:00:25
With the pair of twelves or fifteens. You could, but

01:19:01:17 –> 01:19:05:12
It wouldn’t hold like a 95, but if you’re on a sheep hunt and you’re doing a 65 or 85,

01:19:05:13 –> 01:19:17:29
No problem. Right, right. Yeah. That’s probably where it’s more it. And so it depends on what kind of sheep hunt, if you’re going on a backpack, sheep hunt, you have to go with a small tripod. If you’re out in the

01:19:19:08 –> 01:19:20:10
it’s those tiny little kits,

01:19:21:03 –> 01:19:24:25
I’ve had a JV world, some legs on, but I mean, they’re great. You know, they’re definitely,

01:19:25:16 –> 01:19:29:10
I don’t know why they have to like discontinue models and bring on new models that suck.

01:19:31:00 –> 01:20:25:15
But if you’re in the lower 48, there are some backpack counts. But if you, a lot of them are day your day hunting for sheet. So you can pack an extra two pounds of a tripod to have a little bit more rigidity and sturdiness for a BTX or a 95. And so, yeah, I, we all have the mid-sized tripods for that, whether that be, you know, something like rabbit or something else, the carbon fiber lake still, but you know, so it depends on what type of sheep on, if you’re talking about hay, sh glassware, sheep in Arizona, and you come back to truck every night, all right. You don’t need a backpack and tripod for that versus, Hey, I’m going on a sheep hunt up north. And if you’re going up north double check with your guide, because you don’t need, you don’t take two tripods. You don’t take two spotting scopes, as long as they’re spotting scope and tripod, or as good as, you know, you know, great quality and all that. You take one, you just take turns around a spotting scope. It’s kind of a luxury on a backpack count. So,

01:20:26:08 –> 01:20:27:00
Okay, well,

01:20:29:19 –> 01:20:30:28
Oh, did we get a box is

01:20:32:18 –> 01:20:33:00
Still in

01:20:33:00 –> 01:20:34:01
Stocked and let’s take that

01:20:34:01 –> 01:20:37:09
And a long time, but we’ve sold. I don’t know. I’m going to say hundreds,

01:20:38:06 –> 01:20:39:02
Hundreds of years

01:20:39:12 –> 01:20:52:15
And everybody on the list got them. And we now have them and you know, it’s nice to have them, but of course, a lot of places have them now, but if you’re want a great deal on them, give us a call. Cause we’ve got them in stock and put a stud on them. You can use them for your hunts right now. So

01:20:52:15 –> 01:21:04:24
By the way, even when they were out of stock, let’s say, and on order and nobody could get them. We were still were the same price, whether they’re on the shelf or not. We treated people right clear back to when they first came out. So

01:21:05:08 –> 01:21:08:12
I don’t like we’re, you know, cutting the price or changing the price.

01:21:09:12 –> 01:21:23:17
And I know we’ve talked about being financially responsible, but for a pair of twelves, you should be irresponsible. What do you mean by that? I mean so many people, I, I, everybody, I talked to the best in your hunting future. It’ll change your life. It’s one glass. I haven’t

01:21:23:29 –> 01:21:25:00
Sounded like Jason.

01:21:25:00 –> 01:21:26:15
So things are overrated.

01:21:26:22 –> 01:21:28:20
There are some things so real my life has changed

01:21:28:20 –> 01:21:32:21
Those NL peers. They’re not overrated. So

01:21:32:23 –> 01:21:33:07
Yeah,

01:21:33:22 –> 01:21:34:12
We need to say about

01:21:34:28 –> 01:22:04:00
I’m phone scoping. So a little plug for phone scope. I’ve got the NLP pure adapter. It’s so easy. Like it’s so easy. They slip on and the videos, oh dude, I got video. That’s pretty pretty cherry, but you know, 50 yards, you’re going to see some things. So Hey, all right. So where we are, what are the chances, Josh? Maybe this is for your question. So let me be the question right here. And you be the answer guy. I

01:22:04:00 –> 01:22:04:18
Don’t know why,

01:22:04:18 –> 01:22:09:23
What are the chances of getting a decent turnback tech in Colorado for deer? Let’s say Gudnason second or third season.

01:22:10:07 –> 01:22:15:29
I don’t know why I have to answer this because I tried all last year and struck out, never got one. Even tried the last two weeks.

01:22:16:06 –> 01:22:17:00
I’ve gone this morning.

01:22:18:10 –> 01:22:18:25
She got one.

01:22:20:09 –> 01:22:22:22
She showed us how it’s done. Why did she smoke? She did.

01:22:23:23 –> 01:22:24:18
It’s disgusting.

01:22:24:24 –> 01:22:25:29
Actually. I mean, actually

01:22:26:00 –> 01:22:27:29
I was really, really bothered me.

01:22:28:12 –> 01:22:31:09
She did all the, while she was on a zoom. You

01:22:31:09 –> 01:22:33:16
Had to give her her password and CID last

01:22:33:16 –> 01:22:43:26
Night. Yeah. The first time she has seen her CID in her life was last night in an email from me saying, okay, you got to get on with a big instructional email pictures and every

01:22:43:26 –> 01:22:45:18
Center, everything like what it’s going to look

01:22:45:18 –> 01:22:49:19
Like. Oh yeah. I screenshots. Yeah. Everything what she needs to do. And,

01:22:50:17 –> 01:22:55:24
And while you’re sitting here with one thing to do, she’s at work multitasking, I think maybe

01:22:56:09 –> 01:22:57:12
She had a conference call.

01:22:58:11 –> 01:22:59:01
We don’t want to hang her up.

01:23:00:00 –> 01:23:03:24
Mowing the lawn, feeds the chickens and grabbing a turnout.

01:23:03:24 –> 01:23:05:07
She had a loaf of bread yard.

01:23:07:06 –> 01:23:17:18
Yeah. I’m pretty. I don’t know. It’s kind of exciting though. She ended up snagging a tag off the list that my son already heats. Second. He got a second season task. Yeah. The same unit he has. I said, let’s

01:23:17:21 –> 01:23:18:11
Alter

01:23:18:11 –> 01:23:19:06
What the secondary,

01:23:19:19 –> 01:23:20:14
Secondary draw.

01:23:20:18 –> 01:23:23:28
These are tags that normally sell for 25, 3500 bucks. Yeah.

01:23:23:29 –> 01:23:32:26
Yeah. And so we, I told her last night, I said, you know, if we’re going to go clear down there, we might as well try and take a couple of tags with us. And she was already going to be going. And

01:23:32:26 –> 01:23:34:07
So you’re going to do another family trip.

01:23:34:21 –> 01:23:35:04
Yeah.

01:23:35:19 –> 01:23:36:15
The first family trip,

01:23:37:03 –> 01:23:37:21
It was great.

01:23:40:02 –> 01:23:41:01
We had a lot of bonding

01:23:42:00 –> 01:23:49:08
And I said, I took the meat wagon, but I thought we were going to have elk quarters hanging from every, every corner of this

01:23:49:08 –> 01:23:49:26
Box trailer.

01:23:50:29 –> 01:23:55:03
And I took the beat wagon with one little four Wheeler in it and then came back with Naomi.

01:23:55:11 –> 01:24:07:02
It was so good. If you asked my two kids went, I had the tags. What the highlight of the trip was, was, oh, getting back to the tent every night and eating bean with bacon soup. But they loved it that they want to go

01:24:07:02 –> 01:24:08:00
Again with memories.

01:24:08:00 –> 01:24:08:25
That was their highlight.

01:24:09:04 –> 01:24:15:12
Some memories. You had some memories I’m trying to make data of the year award husband of the year award. None of it happened by

01:24:15:28 –> 01:24:20:16
As far as getting attacks, especially in Colorado. It’s a, it’s a crap shoot. I guess you could call it.

01:24:20:16 –> 01:24:33:20
It’s tough. There will be more, I mean, Colorado had a few, right? The first we’re sitting a lot of archery and muzzleloader tech seemed like this week, every week is going to start change. As we get closer to the end of September, early October, you’ll start seeing more second, third season stuff.

01:24:34:14 –> 01:24:43:27
I know the chances of slim. It’s no, it’s no joke. Oh yeah. I mean it’s like, and it’s random, you know, you’re on there clicking away, hoping,

01:24:44:01 –> 01:24:49:09
You know what? It’s going to start around 11, but every to it doesn’t seem to load right at 11. And you’re just

01:24:50:07 –> 01:24:50:22
Random.

01:24:50:29 –> 01:24:56:13
Yep. If you get it, you’re lucky. A little bit like the Nevada system. I mean, yeah. You know,

01:24:56:13 –> 01:24:59:07
You got one popular. This guy’s asking me Gunnison. I mean,

01:24:59:14 –> 01:25:11:00
I mean, it’s a popular that. I mean, I will throw that out there. I don’t want you to, I’m not a big fan anymore. Myself. We’re trying to be a hero somewhere that on a no namer, I’ve done a lot of those in Colorado.

01:25:11:20 –> 01:25:11:27
Some

01:25:11:27 –> 01:25:12:25
Years I’m

01:25:12:26 –> 01:25:13:21
On a goal namer.

01:25:13:27 –> 01:25:22:05
Well, not, not a neighbor. Just somewhere that I feel like it’s got the age of deer that I’m going to want to see. Now it’s different though. I’ve got, I’ve got to go to

01:25:22:07 –> 01:25:22:11
My,

01:25:22:11 –> 01:25:22:18
For my

01:25:22:20 –> 01:25:24:27
Kids and go to the best units. I’ve got

01:25:24:27 –> 01:25:31:29
Units for my kids. You know, they’re different than I would take. You know, and seasons like second season, my kids will have to do that versus a third. I don’t know

01:25:32:05 –> 01:25:38:12
That twos. You, you, as a dad, I’ve got to go. So you kind of want to be half excited. You don’t want to get them bottom of the barrel.

01:25:38:14 –> 01:25:59:26
Well, that’s right. It is still expensive gas, expensive. Get over there and time there versus whatever else could be doing in life. So, but yeah, maybe don’t look at the very hottest awesome tag. If you know, just increase your odds a little bit. Just like drawing that same tag. You look after a gun of some base and third season, you’re going to have a lot of people clicking on that tag on the train.

01:26:00:01 –> 01:26:01:05
There’s one. And if

01:26:01:05 –> 01:26:08:25
There’s one of them versus two or three or five or something like that, I mean, how about some of those antelope tags there, there was like nine on one unit public land.

01:26:09:25 –> 01:26:23:19
Yeah. Last year there was a good elk unit that had like nine in it too. You know? I don’t know. You may want to not just chase the single sole tag on there or just one particular unit. You may need to adjust a little bit. You’re going to have to be persistent. You’re probably gonna have to be on there every Wednesday from now till third season.

01:26:23:22 –> 01:26:33:15
If you’re hungry, if you’re hungry. Yeah. You’re going to have to maybe make a few concessions. Don’t just stick to a Gunnison third season or second even it’s there’s a lot of eyes looking at those same tags.

01:26:33:24 –> 01:26:42:17
I had fun watching you guys today. Just going to say Josh is out there quietly doing his thing. And I’m like, I didn’t even know. He’s really looking why it’s, why it’s owning it.

01:26:43:20 –> 01:26:44:27
It was like, it was pajama day

01:26:46:14 –> 01:26:49:02
By Kate and he got messed that he, he didn’t get him.

01:26:49:03 –> 01:26:52:19
I was late and I got reminded three minutes before that it was there. I had a spot.

01:26:52:28 –> 01:26:58:14
The Lord’s trying to talk to Adam Adams, tried to log in and basically be a nice to John. Don’t tell him to shut up.

01:26:59:11 –> 01:27:00:15
Let’s talk at 1130.

01:27:01:25 –> 01:27:15:00
Let’s have a business meeting some other day. So anyway, kind of fun, but slim chances are slim, but choose one, you would accept and jump on. There’ll be a little bit less people interested in a non-gun scenario. All right.

01:27:15:25 –> 01:27:19:06
Okay. This is, believe it or not. This is our last question.

01:27:19:15 –> 01:27:19:20
Good.

01:27:20:01 –> 01:27:21:12
Great. How long has this been going

01:27:21:23 –> 01:27:23:06
Full we’re here. We’ve been here an hour

01:27:23:06 –> 01:27:24:09
And had a few questions,

01:27:24:09 –> 01:27:29:27
But this is our fourth podcast on this, trying to get through these. But it’s awesome though. We appreciate all the questions. It’s great.

01:27:30:19 –> 01:27:37:26
And we just, we go on for like hours and the answers, like why do we do that? We have to fully vet it out. You know what I mean?

01:27:38:29 –> 01:27:46:08
That I think there’s nothing better than the, finish it on a fellow question from a fellow gamey down in New Mexico

01:27:48:01 –> 01:27:52:04
Game warden. We even accept these questions.

01:27:52:28 –> 01:27:53:20
I don’t know if he’s trying

01:27:53:20 –> 01:27:53:28
To get

01:27:53:28 –> 01:27:54:17
Some information

01:27:54:17 –> 01:27:57:12
Is actually a good time. Actually. A lot of the game wardens are

01:27:57:13 –> 01:28:01:06
This, this guy we’re reading from now. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What does he ask?

01:28:01:14 –> 01:28:04:15
I didn’t know. He was a fellow game. I think Josh has been okay.

01:28:05:02 –> 01:28:08:00
I’ve talked to talk with them. You say fellow gamey though.

01:28:08:07 –> 01:28:10:28
You did say fellow, which leaves me and you out

01:28:11:29 –> 01:28:15:07
Mean if I was never, I was never a law dog. You’re on the wrong

01:28:15:07 –> 01:28:16:08
Side of the office though.

01:28:17:05 –> 01:28:19:18
Never a lot doc. I could never, ever even.

01:28:19:29 –> 01:28:24:03
And I aren’t so sure. Cause people that say they weren’t, might’ve been

01:28:26:07 –> 01:28:26:29
Exactly.

01:28:27:07 –> 01:28:31:12
Gordon was trusted. The trust. Isn’t just, you know, waiting a little,

01:28:32:17 –> 01:28:35:08
I didn’t even have the phone numbers for, for a game warden in my phone.

01:28:35:21 –> 01:28:39:19
What do you believe that the best don’t believe that

01:28:39:19 –> 01:28:46:22
The best part is now. I was a game warden for five years of my life. Many, many years ago. And people will still be like, well, I shouldn’t tell you this.

01:28:50:27 –> 01:29:16:02
the registration. By the way, I didn’t have four Wheeler registration this weekend. I’m like, oh crap. How do I not do this? I went over there. I went to the cell service and then I wrote on the sticker. I have renewed this. I haven’t got my sticker yet. That’s how you live your life. That’s how I I’ve learned nervous waking up in the morning because it’s because,

01:29:16:15 –> 01:29:21:00
But little things like that makes me more confident that the other big things are not.

01:29:21:08 –> 01:29:36:14
Why had I got a question for you? Oh, the game is hate it when the public lie, but don’t you think the game is lie? Yeah. Josh, why do you lie? Why didn’t you lie, Adam? Yourself? You didn’t have law enforcement in your phone. That’s a lie

01:29:37:22 –> 01:29:38:16
On speed down.

01:29:39:25 –> 01:29:42:02
Gotten your favorite. My favorite 10.

01:29:42:11 –> 01:29:46:15
I had a, I had a Franklin planner that they handed out that had all those numbers.

01:29:47:04 –> 01:29:50:10
Hey Clemson, your date does bad. John, you

01:29:51:07 –> 01:29:51:16
Worked

01:29:51:16 –> 01:30:50:08
For the John, John designed the Franklin Covey Franklin day planner. Some of them we did. Yes you did. Holy cow. That’s what you did for your extra money. Yeah. Yeah. We did some of that. We did. Yeah. More, more of that. It’s like my sister might’ve kept your. Let’s dive into this on the extra money. We’re going back to that question to go back. All right. I just, just so you know, we’re talking about 20 year olds, like trying to get hunted budget. I had $50 a month as a hunting budget as everything budget. That’s it? What? $50 and everything. Everything was allocated by who? Everything you as a couple or her. Oh my gosh. We’re going down memory lane. Let’s just say things are better. Wow. Hey, a restart never hurts. All right, let’s go. Let’s get

01:30:50:08 –> 01:30:51:04
This last question.

01:30:51:25 –> 01:30:54:15
We’re starting to get to trouble. All right.

01:30:54:15 –> 01:31:05:09
Sergeant Benjamin Otero asks you. You only can go on one hunt this fall. What hunter you choosing and why?

01:31:05:17 –> 01:31:08:27
Oh, wait, I was going to ask this Josh and send it to you. No,

01:31:10:02 –> 01:31:10:24
Well it’s already up.

01:31:11:09 –> 01:31:11:22
It’s already

01:31:11:22 –> 01:31:12:17
Off around the room.

01:31:12:28 –> 01:31:14:19
Let’s start with Josh.

01:31:14:22 –> 01:31:17:04
I’ve taken an elk tag. Sorry, somewhere in this.

01:31:17:13 –> 01:31:20:03
Well, be a little more specific like in Utah

01:31:20:26 –> 01:31:21:07
Yellowy

01:31:21:16 –> 01:31:23:11
Or grovel because you live here.

01:31:23:27 –> 01:31:27:22
Yeah. Close to here that I may drive back and forth across my day

01:31:28:10 –> 01:31:30:22
In a unit that might be named after the town you live in

01:31:30:25 –> 01:31:34:18
And where you killed the giant already. Yeah. You think you’ve killed your first year?

01:31:35:25 –> 01:31:36:06
No.

01:31:36:15 –> 01:31:39:24
The have one for hunter. You shouldn’t have be able to kill another one till everybody cry.

01:31:40:05 –> 01:31:50:01
Right? You should be out of the, out of the pot. Yeah. It’s like John San dope. Nobody under 35 ever gets a sheet 10, right? Yeah. I love the hate mail.

01:31:50:01 –> 01:31:51:28
Still write letters to the editor.

01:31:54:16 –> 01:31:59:20
Oh, one other John. Okay. So elk text for you.

01:32:00:12 –> 01:32:06:05
Like we said, yeah. You tell Elk’s going to be 20, 22 is going to be the 2019 of deer in Utah. I’m calling

01:32:06:08 –> 01:32:06:27
It’s. Well,

01:32:06:28 –> 01:32:08:14
Let me, let me see. 20,

01:32:08:14 –> 01:32:10:10
20 and 2016 in Nevada,

01:32:10:22 –> 01:32:17:08
2022 is going to be the 2019 for the, you think, okay, you’re calling this year. It’s going to be credible.

01:32:17:08 –> 01:32:19:19
It’s going to be on par with 2019. If

01:32:19:20 –> 01:32:20:22
Guys can shoot straight.

01:32:21:18 –> 01:32:23:01
Oh, they’re growing. They’re here.

01:32:24:05 –> 01:32:26:24
Yeah. And it’s time, right? I mean we’re talking August what? 25th.

01:32:28:07 –> 01:32:28:20
20th.

01:32:29:11 –> 01:32:29:18
Yeah.

01:32:30:01 –> 01:32:32:28
Wyatt. Which way we go and search for John. Are you next?

01:32:33:00 –> 01:32:45:26
Well, I mean talking about Utah, I was pulling some trail cameras from last year. Cause you know, I like to leave them forever, but ah, made me sad that I don’t have a tag this year for ALC. Just, it was a man.

01:32:46:08 –> 01:32:49:08
Well, you invested a lot. You had 18 years into that one last

01:32:49:08 –> 01:32:50:19
Year. 18 years. So yeah. There’s no

01:32:52:11 –> 01:32:54:12
Excitement of pulling them and checking them. And

01:32:54:15 –> 01:32:57:02
Speaking of which, I don’t know why I think of this stuff, but John,

01:32:58:02 –> 01:32:58:07
Oh,

01:32:59:02 –> 01:33:13:14
Where’s this going? You just, I love when you’re you hear camp trailers set up and you are the electronic king. Okay. On the right you are. And so we were talking about Elon Musk’s satellite

01:33:14:15 –> 01:33:15:03
Starling.

01:33:15:13 –> 01:33:19:15
And I want to talk about that and flesh that out a little bit. What have you learned? So

01:33:19:16 –> 01:33:20:13
Chris got one.

01:33:20:28 –> 01:33:21:09
Okay.

01:33:21:17 –> 01:33:23:00
And so he

01:33:23:06 –> 01:33:24:27
Says, Canada speed. Tell me what the

01:33:24:27 –> 01:33:27:28
Speed is. Awesome. The style like Elon Musk has

01:33:27:28 –> 01:33:35:05
A system where you can buy the equipment and then have a monthly fee for high-speed internet via satellite, anywhere in the world.

01:33:35:23 –> 01:33:36:01
Okay.

01:33:36:09 –> 01:33:36:17
Yeah.

01:33:36:19 –> 01:33:39:26
And there’s some made for mobile mobile, mobile trailers.

01:33:39:28 –> 01:33:42:28
Yeah. They’re they’re hitting RVs and, and you know,

01:33:43:23 –> 01:33:44:20
A little dish.

01:33:44:21 –> 01:33:51:03
The thing that’s great is you can start and stop service. So typically with something like that, you gotta pay 20

01:33:51:03 –> 01:33:51:24
Bucks a month or

01:33:52:08 –> 01:33:56:19
A year, whatever it is. Yeah. And apparently apparently works really good

01:33:57:19 –> 01:33:59:29
For three months in the fall and camp trailer and

01:33:59:29 –> 01:34:01:05
Not great service,

01:34:01:14 –> 01:34:03:25
High speed. And then if you’re an iPhone user, what

01:34:03:25 –> 01:34:04:18
Service your

01:34:04:18 –> 01:34:06:03
Phone? You can, I message.

01:34:07:03 –> 01:34:09:14
You can have wifi in your trailer or whatever.

01:34:09:25 –> 01:34:11:15
You can FaceTime without having a

01:34:11:15 –> 01:34:22:02
Phone service. And for someone like me, like it’s a no brainer. I’m going to have to do it because I love to take my wife, but she hates to camp. If she can’t get surf, it’s boring.

01:34:22:06 –> 01:34:22:21
Catch

01:34:23:08 –> 01:34:25:14
Instagram, FaceTime, watch

01:34:25:14 –> 01:34:25:26
Movies.

01:34:26:04 –> 01:34:30:06
You’re out in the Hills all day. She sat in the camp trailers, dead quiet and watching DVDs.

01:34:30:15 –> 01:34:36:28
So I brought this up to jail. I think I need to support the mosque movement. And she not found

01:34:37:27 –> 01:34:38:17
How

01:34:38:19 –> 01:34:40:17
The most I participate in the

01:34:40:17 –> 01:34:41:23
Musky movement, the Muskie

01:34:41:23 –> 01:34:47:28
Movement. How do I participate in that by Starling and not get her too mad. You guys got any suggestions?

01:34:48:18 –> 01:34:52:21
I got it. What’s your birthday. Oh, you already had that. I just ask it for your birthday. She could she tell, you

01:34:52:21 –> 01:34:54:16
Know, anniversaries over birthdays or

01:34:54:16 –> 01:34:55:03
What’s coming now?

01:34:55:07 –> 01:35:03:08
Well, it’s supposed to be next year. I could participate, you know, but sometimes I want high-speed internet right now. I just can’t believe. I mean, I want to do it.

01:35:03:23 –> 01:35:07:14
Okay. Then it’s for the safety and wellbeing of you and your family while you’re,

01:35:07:24 –> 01:35:14:11
If you need to put her in a camp trailer by herself and somewhere and tell her, can’t talk the kids, sorry.

01:35:14:15 –> 01:35:16:02
Oh, I like it.

01:35:17:17 –> 01:35:18:01
I wish.

01:35:18:29 –> 01:35:35:17
And you know how guys know every little tree you stand by that has service. Like we know she never, I would be like, Hey, if there’s service going to be coming around this corner, you know, you can check your phone if you want. Okay. We’re coming up around another car guys are just, we’re just knowing, you know, we know where we

01:35:35:17 –> 01:35:36:04
Get service.

01:35:37:00 –> 01:35:41:00
Half of it’s thinking, how far can I walk to service to get somebody to call

01:35:41:00 –> 01:35:42:08
Me if I break

01:35:42:08 –> 01:35:47:00
Down, if I break down. All right. So anyway, there’s the John, are you going to do it? Are you going to buy the

01:35:47:04 –> 01:35:57:07
Yeah, I think so. I haven’t. I mean, I don’t have a reason to right now this year, I don’t have a specific hunt, but I’ve but yes. Yeah, yeah. So totally worth it. Even for family camp,

01:35:57:07 –> 01:35:58:22
There’s a reason he’s a freaking,

01:35:58:25 –> 01:36:03:23
Do you have a, maybe there’s more packages. What’s the basic equipment package.

01:36:04:03 –> 01:36:04:26
I don’t know. Five

01:36:04:26 –> 01:36:05:12
Or 600

01:36:05:12 –> 01:36:09:14
Bucks. It’s something like that. It’s like a hundred and something.

01:36:10:21 –> 01:36:12:21
Yeah. 30 days to 30 day

01:36:13:18 –> 01:36:24:28
Chunks. Monthly month to month to month. How awesome is that? Like just disgusting. He, he deserves to be a billionaire. I’m not a fan of everything he does, but Hey. All right. So moving

01:36:24:28 –> 01:36:27:11
Right along with Dan, John, another. Okay

01:36:27:20 –> 01:36:49:28
Well, yeah. I mean, if it’s, if it’s that, you know, like a couple of podcasts ago, we talked about dream and we could get any tag. And so, you know, like get a sheet this year, just this year. Realistic. I mean, yeah. Like Colorado deer tag in a good unit would be the one, you know, that I’d focus on. If I could only

01:36:49:28 –> 01:36:50:09
Do one,

01:36:51:02 –> 01:36:53:14
You kind of mean, you mean kind of like you already have.

01:36:54:12 –> 01:36:55:23
Yeah. But we weren’t going to go there out of

01:36:57:26 –> 01:37:06:08
What do you mean? What happened? What do you mean? What tag does he ever tag? I forgot what I

01:37:06:16 –> 01:37:07:24
Like to like to keep the

01:37:10:25 –> 01:37:11:22
1830s.

01:37:12:19 –> 01:37:19:23
All right. Thanks for edit that, John. Let’s say you’re going to eat. You don’t have that. What are you going to have something similar?

01:37:20:06 –> 01:37:26:10
Oh yeah. I would look for another possible landowner tag or I’d be hitting these turnback tags real

01:37:26:23 –> 01:37:28:28
That’s right? Yes. All right, Bronson.

01:37:29:27 –> 01:37:30:10
Well,

01:37:31:21 –> 01:37:34:05
It doesn’t even have to be realistic. What, what would you choose?

01:37:35:04 –> 01:37:37:14
I’ve been ready. I’m sick of talking about

01:37:38:11 –> 01:37:39:21
Points in Arizona. Yeah.

01:37:40:15 –> 01:37:43:20
I want my Arizona rifle, deer tags. That’s all I that’s what I want.

01:37:43:20 –> 01:37:45:17
If it’s any consolation, we want you to get it too.

01:37:45:25 –> 01:37:56:15
I want to quit talking about it. I want to hunt. I want to have a, I want to go down and take the Musk package to the desert and all stay in touch with their family and friends and have a great week. I want to do that high growth.

01:37:57:10 –> 01:38:10:24
I would like to relive my Arizona deer hunt pod doing it. But back then we felt like we had the governor tag. We were out there by herself. Nobody was there hunting biggest river in the world. Right. So anyway,

01:38:10:29 –> 01:38:11:23
That’s what I’m out there.

01:38:12:00 –> 01:38:24:26
And, and I’ve been trying to relive that experience for every year, since on 14 different tags every single year and never have experienced the same thing. Well, and I’m just afraid that I’m going to die and never experienced that again.

01:38:25:04 –> 01:38:27:14
Nothing you enter dine, not break 2 75.

01:38:28:06 –> 01:38:33:29
Oh, bye. Well, just the whole experience. You know what I’m talking about? We were by herself, it was

01:38:34:08 –> 01:38:34:19
You’re right.

01:38:35:01 –> 01:38:39:17
You and the animal, you and the animal. It feels like there’s no more of that. You know,

01:38:40:10 –> 01:38:51:27
You never know without cameras and some of that stuff going on in Arizona, it’s going to be interesting to see if as much of the list gets killed off every year as it maybe used to. There’ll be interesting.

01:38:51:27 –> 01:38:59:22
We’re already seeing it, right? Y like we’re already seeing, there’s a lot of game animals that aren’t known about because of the cameras. The lack of cameras now,

01:39:00:04 –> 01:39:00:18
Interesting.

01:39:00:21 –> 01:39:04:03
Even the guides know it. Everybody knows it. Why, what do you choose them?

01:39:04:26 –> 01:39:12:04
Oh, I’d like to have another Nevada elk tag. I like to do that one again. Other than that,

01:39:12:04 –> 01:39:17:06
I hunted like 38 minutes. The first day he killed a great big bowl,

01:39:17:29 –> 01:39:18:23
Made it to noon.

01:39:19:19 –> 01:39:25:26
Jeez, that you have the right friends in the right places. And you know, the unit you

01:39:25:26 –> 01:39:27:23
Already know and it’s already cost us.

01:39:28:00 –> 01:39:31:05
I don’t think anybody. I don’t think that bowl. Didn’t you just randomly class

01:39:31:10 –> 01:39:32:07
Two or three hours

01:39:32:21 –> 01:39:33:16
That morning. So

01:39:33:19 –> 01:39:38:03
It’s like three hours from our house here, roughly to it’s like for non-resident tag. It’s like, there’s

01:39:38:03 –> 01:39:38:25
Something to be said for

01:39:38:25 –> 01:39:43:10
Go across Utah on the San Juan and that’s five, five hours. So six,

01:39:43:20 –> 01:39:45:10
Five and a half. Depends on the trailer.

01:39:47:28 –> 01:39:54:15
Well, all right. Pretty fun. We appreciate everybody. I know this has taken, I don’t know how many podcasts to get through that list, but a lot,

01:39:54:15 –> 01:39:55:11
But it’s been good.

01:39:55:12 –> 01:40:00:24
It’s been fun. Has a lot of discussion. I know we’ve rambled a lot, but it’s been fun. So

01:40:00:24 –> 01:40:02:29
Should we choose for Devin for one of his faves?

01:40:03:21 –> 01:40:03:26
What do

01:40:03:26 –> 01:40:05:28
You mean? Like for Devin? Like what would Devin choose

01:40:06:26 –> 01:40:08:09
You tag in Nevada?

01:40:09:20 –> 01:40:12:27
It must be his best friend. Guys are brutal.

01:40:12:27 –> 01:40:14:03
That’s insider information.

01:40:15:24 –> 01:40:19:05
Hey, is that of part of a slam

01:40:19:07 –> 01:40:20:26
Crossbow, Mormon cricket tag.

01:40:24:14 –> 01:40:25:23
Devin has it more in bed tonight?

01:40:26:26 –> 01:40:27:24
Just opens the dry

01:40:28:17 –> 01:40:29:15
Tie. The rain fly

01:40:30:02 –> 01:40:31:10
Quite easily. Who cares

01:40:31:21 –> 01:40:36:03
The beat down. He’s going to be down to the skivvies at the spring, guaranteed after dark,

01:40:36:23 –> 01:40:36:27
The

01:40:36:27 –> 01:40:40:07
Hot pot of hot Springs. Yeah. Way down there. And his skivvies just sitting in there.

01:40:40:16 –> 01:40:43:07
Lots of, lots of those around Nevada and Southern Oregon.

01:40:44:12 –> 01:41:32:10
Yeah, there is that’s. What’s why, what that’s what makes that state so great. All right. Well, anyway. All right, everybody. Well, are we doing anything else? We kind of followed up on, on a few things. Finished up our question, answer Bronson. We got the great story. Anybody wants a sheep hunt? Give us a holler. We work with the best Outfitters out there. 4 3 5 2 6 3 0 7 7 7. Definitely help you get started. We got guys we’re planting hunts for 2023 through 20, 26. I’ve got, I’ve got one. My friends have got one. They’re awesome. They’re very accurate, simple system mark. And the guys Scotty are just super people.

01:41:33:04 –> 01:42:13:12
Some, some of our great friends, in fact, man, they’ve been doing it for so many years. It’s going on. I want to say 20, almost 20 years with them shooting, whether it be Magnum rifles and, and just, just, you know, custom ballistically, mashed radicals. So pretty awesome, very simple system. That’s what they believe in is simplicity gets stuff killed in the heat of battle. Give them a holler at 4 3, 5 7 1 3 4 2, 4 8 or Thompson long range.com. And you know, I had a guy earlier today. He was asking me like, if they want to do a custom setup for a thousand yard type rifle or a rifle that is capable of that, what’s it going to run you? These guys are starting to like 3,900 bucks.

01:42:13:23 –> 01:42:14:29
That’s rifle and scope.

01:42:15:01 –> 01:42:19:27
That’s as affordable as it gets everybody and great people that treat you right.

01:42:20:18 –> 01:42:42:13
Also wanted to give a shout out to Kenneth Trek. They’ve been great partners of ours from the inception here at epic outdoors. We’ve used their boots for well beyond even that. And in fact, took our mountain guide boots up there to the Yukon this last week. And they’re, they’re awesome. Love them. Great support. I’ve got weak ankles, played a lot of basketball in my day and I need, I need that high support. Same as

01:42:42:13 –> 01:42:42:23
My boy.

01:42:43:10 –> 01:43:12:20
Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, Ken attract.com, K E N E T R E k.com. Or you can visit him on social media, Facebook, Instagram Kenitra boots, but great products got something for everything. So if it’s not working right, they’re going to fix it. So they’re gonna make it get right. And they sell great products.

01:43:12:21 –> 01:43:30:26
That’s right. Good people. I like Jim a lot. So it’s great product pack. We’ll throw a shout out to them. Josh, you can even vouch for the pack wheel a bit, but electronic option for being able to pack stuff out, gear, game bags, quarters, whatever it is. They’re incredible. Yeah.

01:43:30:27 –> 01:43:33:07
Pretty awesome. Hopefully planning on using it again this year.

01:43:34:09 –> 01:44:47:15
What do you mean? Hopefully plan on potentially gonna you’re gonna dance, right? So anyway, you can go to pack wheel.com 8 0 1 9 3 5 4 7 6 4 8 1 9 3 5 4 7 6 4. They use a high capacity lithium batteries. They got to twist throttle, adjustable handlebars, you know, traction tire. I mean it, it climbs everything. Climbs logs, climbs Hills. Pretty awesome. Even stable coming downhill too. So it’s got a stainless steel Sprocket and eight inch rotor brake. I mean, it’s set up so it’s no joke. It’ll pack the weight anyway. Don’t hesitate to give him a holler. All right guys. Well, I guess we’re going to go back Josh. I mean, you’ve been playing the first come first serve system. We’ll let you take the phone calls and Wyatt and I, and Adam we’ll get on our first come first serve. See if we can’t pick up a tag, looks like you’re kind of a loser. It’s been one of those days. Didn’t didn’t get a tag in Colorado except for your wife. Did she showed us how it gets done? And then haven’t picked up anything Nevada. So I don’t know. Maybe we’ll end it on a high note, got another half hour left here in the office. So anybody that needs help Monday through Friday, actually Monday through Thursday, we’re here epic outdoors.com 4 3 5 2 6 3 0 7 7 7. Give us a holler. If you need some optics.
